The major selling point is a more movie-accurate head sculpt with longer ears and detailing based on the final CG head design, and a flip-out energy sword to replace the ion blaster that was included with previous versions of the toy. This energy sword is detachable and attaches where the Ion Blaster did, compatible with non-premium Optimus Prime Leader-class-based releases. Because his ears are much longer, the truck roof panel that hides his head now has two holes cut into so the head can fit inside the cabin.

In vehicle mode, the grill, headlights, and bumpers (and thus his feet) are painted silver, yet the red in the small Autobot insignia has been removed. There is also silver paint on all 6 wheel rims, the air cleaners, and the windscreen visor. The cab can transform into a "normal" Optimus Prime on its own, roughly equivalent to a Voyager in size and complexity, though with a lower degree of screen-accuracy than most large Optimus toys. Prime has 5mm fist holes, as well as additional 5mm ports on his front wheel wells and both sets of external fuel tanks. Four of these remain available in robot mode. The trailer has twelve more 5mm ports. Despite this, the toy comes with no weapons scaled such that the cab-only robot can usefully wield them.

The whole cannon attaches to a special socket slightly behind Prime's shoulders, can store on the back or flip over to be gripped in both fists in armor mode, or stored upside-down underneath the trailer in truck mode. When pointed forward, the cannon has a larger helmet styled after Prime's own with a large translucent face shield featuring a painted targeting system. The weapon has three electronic modes: each of two small buttons plays its own weapon-firing noise and flashes one set of lights, while the large pull-switch in the cannon's center plays the sounds of a powerful barrage, flashing both sets of lights and (every third time) finishing off with the declaration "I am Optimus Prime". The Ultimax Super Cannon also has two of its own 5mm ports for even more MechTech firepower. When mounted on his back, the Cannon has two hook-like sections that securely lock into the "backpack", allowing the Ultimax weapon to serve as a handle for Optimus' imaginary "flight" operations.

They were able to penetrate the base with ease thanks to Que disguising himself as the car of the country's Defense Minister, but Dino transformed to robot mode the instant they were through the barrier and, blades flashing, politely requested that the human guards lie on the ground while the Autobots went about their destructive business. Not long after, as the Autobots regrouped back at NEST's Washington headquarters, Dino informed [[Charlotte Mearing]] that [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]] was in a bad mood over the discovery of a piece of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertronian]] technology he had found in [[Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant|Chernobyl]], and wasn't talking to anyone, let alone her. Later, after the former Autobot leader [[Sentinel Prime (ROTF)|Sentinel Prime]] was retrieved from the moon and reactivated, Dino observed his explanation of how his pillars were key to controlling the Space Bridge, a teleportation device Sentinel had designed that was crucial to the Autobot war effort.

Dino and Sideswipe joined Bumblebee, [[Sam Witwicky]], [[Seymour Simmons]] and [[Dutch (DOTM)|Dutch]] in following up on a lead to explain why humans were being killed by Decepticons. Dino and Sideswipe arrived at Sam's apartment in time to witness an argument between him and Carly, although completely unaware that Carly's car was in fact Soundwave in disguise. After the humans determined that the Decepticons were targeting Sentinel for his ability to control the Space Bridge, Dino helped to escort the ancient Autobot back to base. While on the highway, they were attacked by the [[Dread (DOTM)|Dreads]], who had come to take Sentinel. During the chase, Dino dug his blades into [[Hatchet]], and steered him into the firing line of the other Autobots before hurling him into oncoming traffic to finish him off, Dino arrived at the base with Bumblebee while Sideswipe and Ironhide finished off the rest of the Dreads. However when they got there, Sentinel betrayed the Autobots, killed Ironhide and took his pillars, revealing that he made a deal with [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]] to enslave mankind to rebuild Cybertron.

NEST and the Autobots pursued Sentinel Prime to Washinton D.C. Despite Optimus attempt to stop the ancient Autobot, Sentinel activated his bridge and brought an army of Decepticons through from the moon set up by Megatron. Dino arrived with Sideswipe, Bumblebee, Lennox and some NEST soldiers but were far outnumbered. As the Decepticon army ripped Washington apart, Optimus ordered the Autobots to retreat.

Dino and the other Autobots were forced to leave Earth when the turncoat Sentinel Prime coerced the human governments to exile their protectors. As it was leaving Earth's atmosphere, the Autobot's ship, the ''[[Xantium (DOTM)|Xantium]]'', was destroyed by [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]], and Dino was presumably killed along with his fellow Autobots. However, knowing that Sentinel and the Decepticons wouldn't honor their promise that humanity would not be harmed, the Autobots hid themselves into the boosters of their ship, and safely splashed down to Earth before the ship was destroyed. Dino and the Autobots rejoined their human allies from NEST and Sam Witwicky on the outskirts of Decepticon-controlled Chicago, now the center stage for Sentinel Prime and Megatron's plan to bring [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] to Earth.

After the NEST team had been equipped with new [[Boomstick]]s and [[Grapple glove]]s, the [[Wrecker]]s provided a distraction for Shockwave allowing Dino and his companions enough time to get away.

Soon, four Autobots were captured by Decepticons commanded by [[Soundwave (ROTF)|Soundwave]] and [[Barricade (Movie)|Barricade]]. Bumblebee was soon after captured as well. As Dino struggled against his captors, the human traitor [[Dylan Gould]] convinced Soundwave to execute the Autobots, starting with Que. Dino and the others would have suffered the same fate as the Autobot scientist if not for the timely intervention of [[Wheelie (ROTF)|Wheelie]] and [[Brains]], whose commandeered Decepticon mothership rained down [[Orbital Assault Carrier|fighters]] on Soundwave's forces, allowing the Autobots to turn the tables and destroy their captors.

Sideswipe went missing after being tasked with investigating Decepticon activity in Central America, and Mirage was tasked with the mission of finding Sideswipe and completing the investigation. Along the way he encountered Starscream, who tried kill Mirage with mines, but failed. Starscream instead threw Mirage off a bridge into a ravine and believed him to be dead.

Mirage survived, but his weapons and transformation systems were damaged, leaving his camouflage system the only one he could use. He managed to sneak past all the Decepticons on patrol and discovered the entrance to an ancient Mayan temple which had Decepticon markings all over it, suggesting the Mayans built their temples on top of Decepticon technology. The NEST team sent weapons and repairs for Mirage deep within the jungle where he eventually met up with Bumblebee. The two Autobots then made their way through the ruins and battled a Decepticon [[Dread (DOTM)|Enforcer]] on top of a temple. After defeating him, Mirage freed Sideswipe from captivity, but came under fire from other Decepticons, when NEST Major [[Reynolds]] sent air support and aided the trio.

Sideswipe suspected that the ruins were built over some sort of Cybertronian space port, and the Autobots made their way deeper into the ruins, where Starscream was trying to launch a Decepticon ship into space. The emotionally brittle Autobots did not take this show of force well, and charged their weapons; Jolt began emitting bright sparks of electricity in anticipation of a fight, but things soon calmed down as Galloway announced that NEST was being disbanded by [[President of the United States|presidential]] order.

Some time after the defeat of the Fallen, while the Autobots were still in the process of rounding up the Decepticons scattered across Earth, Jolt was part of a unit sent to Beverley Hills, Los Angles, to apprehend [[Reverb (ROTF)|Reverb]]. The Autobots attempted to subtly divert Reverb away from human traffic to minimize collateral damage, but the rambunctious Jolt jumped the gun and began pursuing the motorcycle Decepticon through the City of Angels. Tearing across pavements and parks with no regard for the humans in his way, Jolt attempted to stop Reverb with his electro-whips, but instead wound up striking a power pole and blowing every electrical system in the immediate vicinity. Thankfully, Reverb was captured by [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]], but Jolt's carelessness landed the Autobots in a lot of trouble with [[Theodore Galloway]]. Optimus Prime stressed the importance of treading carefully to Jolt, who promised to be "the soul of discretion".

Unfortunately, two days later, discretion was nowhere to be seen when Jolt went hog-wild in the middle of [[Las Vegas]], battling the martial artist Decepticon [[Bludgeon (ROTF)|Bludgeon]]. With one of his electro-whips severed by the Bludgeon's sword, Jolt was sent crashing through a casino wall, but what stung more were the Decepticons' taunts that everything would have been fine if he had not been so overzealous and allowed him to leave the city before attacking. Bludgeon then turned his attention to the casino's patrons, but a repentant Jolt threw himself in the path of the blast meant for them. As Bludgeon loomed over him, preparing to strike with his sword, Jolt seized the blade and used his powers to channel the entire output of Las Vegas's electric grid straight into the skeletal samurai. Although Bludgeon was defeated by the monumental shock, the city was left blacked out by Jolt's stunt, and Optimus Prime was reluctantly forced to confine him to base. Jolt accepted his punishment, but as he walked back into headquarters, he overheard a transmission came through from a NEST squad in the field, announcing they were under Decepticon attack... and Jolt gritted his teeth for action... {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.9|Culture Shock}}

He later underwent further training alongside [[Dune Runner (ROTF)|Dune Runner]] and [[Rollbar (ROTF)|Rollbar]], and undertook a survival exercise in [[Death Valley]], [[California]]. He noted to Dune Runner that Bumblebee had found a pretty horrible place to train. He followed Rollbar's lead to a deserted ghost town and happily used his powers to track down the recharge pack the Autobots had hidden there. However, he also found...[[Dead End (ROTF)|Dead End]]! His left arm was torn off, and though he ordered Rollbar to focus on Dead End and not him, the monster Decepticon still tore through the other cadets. Realising they were running on empty, a desperate Jolt used every bit of power in the recharge pack to charge up an electro-whip and knock Dead End out before he could kill the others.

Springer agreed, and Jolt blew off the other cadet's claims of Springer having a rep as a monster by noticing that he was just a true soldier. A few days later, in [[Texas]], they got that combat op: Springer distracted [[Tankor (ROTF)|Tankor]] while the cadets snuck round to free hostages. However, Jolt spotted [[Dirge (ROTF)|Dirge]] coming in to get the drop on the commander and decided to leave his mission to get involved in the fight. Using his electro-whips, he redirected Tankor's fire into Dirge and saved the day! :Deluxe class Jolt transforms into a blue Chevrolet Volt with translucent blue plastic windows. His alt-mode is very conspicuously split where his arms and legs separate during transformation. In robot mode, he has light blue "electro whips" in each arm which are deployed by turning a small knob on his wrist. His head features blue [[Light-piping|light-piping]] for his eyes, but there is a gray protrusion behind his head which completely prevents light passage. This protrusion also prevents his ball-jointed head from turning other than in the slightest of angles. Turning his waist activates his [[Mech Alive]] feature, which consists of moving gears inside his translucent upper chest (it is really hard to see). Jolt also has swiveling knees, but sadly, the kibble blocks it off just like the head.

:Sadly, out of the ''Revenge of the Fallen'' toys released as of late summer 2009, Jolt has lost the most paint applications of anyone, losing nearly all blue paint detailing on his chest and all red detailing present in the promotional photos. This leaves his robot mode looking rather plain.

:The picture to the right shows Jolt's feet mistransformed—at least according to the instructions, which show that the two halves of his alt mode's back bumper forming his toes should be turned inward 90 degrees. Which depiction is the actual mistransformation is debatable, as the "official" transformation makes the left toe piece stand a couple millimeters higher than the right one due to the presence of a joining peg. The large pieces of kibble on his back should also be rotated and fitted into his shoulders.

:In a twist of ''awesome'' irony, he is a Movie Autobot who has the classic Autobot [[insignia|faction symbol]] on his chest.
