As you might guess from the name, Overkill is all about excess. Sometimes this works to his advantage, such as when his endless tirades and theatrics distract his foes in combat. Sometimes excess works to his disadvantage, such as when he gets so caught up in showing off that he becomes distracted in combat. And sometimes it just makes him look silly, swinging and blasting at a fallen foe long after the fight has ended.

Though he talks a better game than he fights, Overkill's dinosaur mode is strong enough to be a decent threat... except when the circuits that control his size-change from cassette to dinosaur malfunction (as it often wants to do) and he finds himself stuck as an audiotape-sized dino. Awwww!
In the year 2001, Overkill, along with Slugfest, Ratbat, Beastbox, and Squawktalk, were dispatched by Soundwave to locate the Matrix of Leadership, which Optimus Prime had buried somewhere at the construction site of Autobot City, prior to the mass Autobot evacuation of Cybertron. Slugfest had to explain what "excavation" was to the dull witted Beastbox, though Squawkbox ended up finding the Matrix. In a gambit to counter a string of humiliating defeats by Grimlock, Overkill's leader had this new body built for Overkill. Overkill's chronic failure to grow larger in robot mode had become a permanent condition, sidelining him from the battlefield. This new body carries an armored interface housing in its chest allowing Overkill to be inserted in cassette mode, effectively overcoming his disability.

After the war officially ended on Klo, Overkill was one of the handful of Bludgeon's Decepticons who scattered to the far corners of the universe. So far, he is the only Titan Master figure in the Hasbro line to be a straight-up redeco of another character's figure rather than a partial retooling.

: He comes with a redeco of Crashbash's beast/weapon accessory, which can transform into a dragon (which can be ridden by Overboard in bot mode), a dinosaur (which is completed by Overboard forming its lower jaw and arms) or a gun that can be used by larger figures. His vehicle partner's dinosaur mode is redecoed to resemble Overkill's original Mini-Cassette colors.

:The stock photo depicting the combined dinosaur mode is mistransformed, with the face of his head mode pointing forward, so that the shell wings did not close properly. In an interesting twist, this makes his feet into a more convincing and poseable lower jaw and the cheek guards somewhat resemble his original toy's missile pods (though super small in comparison), at the expense of having no arms.

:Overboard was reissued for the fifth wave of Titan Masters alongside Ptero, Apeface, and the new Ramhorn. Like his wavemates, Overboard never saw wide release in Malaysia, due to shelfwarming in the first and second waves.
Destroyers are average in size, speed, and health. They transform into trucks, and sometimes trucks with legs and dorsal plates.

Characteristics
The Destroyer is essentially War for Cybertron's Leader class, but has received a massive overhaul. While the Leader had a mix of weaponry, the Destroyer is fitted entirely with explosive ordnance. The team-buffing abilities have also been removed.

Body Types
Six body types were available with the game initially, with two unlocked from the get-go and the rest available by spending Energon shards. The heads, chest/vehicle, shoulders, arms, legs, and wheels were interchangeable. The initial bodies were:
*Harbinger (Swindle)
*Striker (Optimus Prime)
*Mercenary (Ratchet)
*Commando (Ironhide)
*Warmonger (Soundwave)
*Road Brawler (Onslaught)
Several bonus heads could be added on by attaining certain levels. They were:
*Rampage (Snarl beast head, unlocked at level 25)
*Omega (Bruticus, unlocked at Prime)
*Parasite (Kickback insect head, unlocked at Prime level 25)
*Elite (Optimus Prime with a crown, unlocked by reaching Prime 25 with every class)
Later, downloadable content could be purchased that added more body types. So far, they've been:
*Battle Seeker (Zeta Prime)
*Convoy (Ultra Magnus)
*Stampede (Snarl; wheels can't be altered with this type)
*Throwback (G1 Optimus Prime; Also available as a pre-order bonus from Gamestop)
*Gladiator (Hound)
Finally, each class could apply a variety of faction symbols (called "decals"). Each set cost 400 Energon shards, and many contained references to past Transformers subgroups. They were: Targetmasters; Lightning Strikeforce; Warchargers; Astro Squad; Protectobots; Energo Squad; Battle Squad; Lazer Rods.

Weapons
Each class in FOC was able to equip a primary and secondary firearm, and each had four to choose from. Two would be unlocked to begin with, and the rest became available as levels were gained. Each weapon upgrades that could be added by gaining levels. The Destroyer had access to:
*Riot Cannon
*Thermo Rocket Cannon
*A-4 Pulsar Cannon
*Chaos-Rift Combustor

Abilities
Each class had access to two different abilities and could equip one at a time. The second ability, as well as various upgrades, could be unlocked by gaining experience. The Destroyer could use:
*Diffraction Barrier - A stationary forcefield. Could be withdrawn by pressing the ability button.
*Hover Slam - An upgrade to the Soldier's Hover ability from War for Cybertron, now with the ability to smash enemies below with one's body.
:Jazz is an Autobot from the Transformers portion of the live-action film series continuity family.

First Lieutenant Jazz is one happy-go-lucky Autobot. Good-natured and always able to take things in stride, he provides a decent contrast to the more serious demeanor of Ironhide or Optimus Prime himself. He's also a talker, something Ironhide and Prime like to tease him about. He might be the smallest Autobot but he's by no means a coward, willing to take on any foe, big or small.

Jazz was part of Optimus Prime's unit, summoned to Earth by Bumblebee after the latter Autobot came to be in the possession of Sam Witwicky. After his protoform crashed through a baseball stadium, he investigated a nearby car dealership and chose a Pontiac Solstice hardtop as his vehicle mode.

Linking up with his fellow Autobots in a deserted alley, Jazz greeted Sam and Mikaela Banes as "little bitches," stating that Earth seems to be a cool place to hang out. He casually sat on the hood of another car while Optimus Prime explained to Sam they learnt Earth's languages through the internet. He then relayed their mission to find the AllSpark and explained how his grandfather's glasses were the key to its location.

Soon after, as Sam looked for his grandfather's glasses, the Autobots attempted to assist by clumsily destroying the yard where they went. When it came to hide from the parents, Jazz had the easiest time blending into the shadows due to his small stature.

When Sam and Mikaela were captured by Sector Seven, the Autobots mounted a rescue that saw Optimus Prime tearing the roof off Agent Simmons's vehicle. When the agents attempted to resist, Jazz used a magnet to relieve the humans of their weapons. After Bumblebee was captured by Sector Seven during the retreat, Jazz expressed his desire to rescue him, but was overruled by Optimus Prime, who didn't believe it possible to accomplish this without harming the humans, and so they should let them go.

The next day, after Optimus used his navigation scanner on Archibald Witwicky's glasses, Jazz again commented that they could not leave Bumblebee to die at the hands of Sector Seven, to become a human experiment. Optimus replied that Bumblebee would die in vain if they did not find the AllSpark, and when Ironhide asked if the primitive and cruel humans deserved to be saved, Optimus countered by asking if Transformers were so different in the past. Going on to explain what he saw in the humans, Prime declared that if it came to it, he would sacrifice himself to destroy the AllSpark - the humans should not pay for Cybertron's mistakes. Inspired by his words, Jazz and the other Autobots rolled out, filled with determination.

On the way to Hoover Dam, the Autobots encountered Bumblebee leading a column of Sector Seven assault vehicles. Jazz and his fellow Autobots applied brakes and did a hard u-turn to join the formation.

Entering Mission City, the human soldiers tried to call for air support from their own forces, only to be attacked by Starscream disguised as a human F-22 fighter. Jazz, oddly, sat in vehicle mode after the explosion which crippled Bumblebee, destroying his legs. When Devastator began shelling the battle site, Jazz led the Autobot charge toward the Decepticon, speeding to the tank in vehicle mode, then transformed and hopped on top of the turret to distract the Decepticon from the humans. As Devastator also transformed, Jazz managed to wreck his left-side rocket launcher pod before being tossed off. He then sped back to the battle, firing at Devastator, while Ratchet sliced of Devastator's left arm.

Jazz tried to delay Megatron when he appeared on the scene in order to cover the escape Captain Lennox's men and civilians. Despite Lennox's cries for him to fall back, Jazz bravely faced Megatron alone, but all he got for his trouble was being blasted backwards by the Decepticon's fusion cannon. As Ironhide and Ratchet escorted Sam and the AllSpark to safety, Megatron preyed upon the small Autobot who had the audacity to attack him. The Decepticon leader tossed him through the air onto a nearby building, then landed upon him with the crushing grip of his talons. Valiantly, Jazz fought on, asking Megatron if he wanted a "piece" of him. Mocking Jazz, Megatron viciously tore him in half.

After being separated from Sam Witwicky, Ratchet hurried to Jazz, but his spark had already faded. In the aftermath of Megatron's defeat, Ironhide somberly handed Optimus Prime Jazz's remains as he reported that they could not save their comrade. The Autobot leader half-heartedly eulogized him, and quickly moved on. Transformers (film)

Many years before the civil war on Cybertron, Jazz was a member of the Security Force under Prowl. As Optimus pondered the venerable age of the artifacts they had found at an excavation near the temple of Simfur, Jazz jokingly asked if they were as old as Ratchet, earning him a threat of vocal processor-disabling retribution and a whack on the back of the head. He was present when Arcee's team found a strange artifact with the strange symbol and helped escort the relic out of the dig site when the aliens whom Commander Starscream had encountered earlier suddenly attacked the planet. Defiance issue 1

In the aftermath, Jazz accompanied Prowl as the latter investigated the attack on the Simfur temple. Prowl theorised that the aliens were trying to break into the temple, not destroy it, Jazz opined that they must have been after the AllSpark. When Megatron rallied Cybertron's inhabitants to war against the alien attackers, Jazz and most of the others in the science and security division loyally stayed at Optimus's side to uphold the ideals of Cybertron. Later, when Prime mentioned Megatron's questionable behavior and wished there was unity in the population, Jazz pointed out that he had the same chance of convincing Megatron to be unified as they do of being considered part of his army. Realising sentries such as Prowl and Jazz had access to Megatron's personal quarters, Prime asked them for a favour. Defiance issue 2

Jazz accompanied Optimus and Prowl to Megatron's quarters, where Optimus discovered that the relic previously unearthed seemed to have been restored by Megatron himself. Later, Jazz was part of the team sent to arrest Optimus for treason. However, on the way to Trypticon, the group were ambushed by members of the Defense Force sent to kill them. Optimus directed the others in a successful counterattack and ordered the group to rally at Burthov. Defiance issue 3

Jazz and several other former security officers helped Cliffjumper "capture" the former military officer Ironhide and bring him into the rebel base to see Optimus Prime. Later after it was discovered that Megatron was building a massive starship for some unknown purpose, Jazz was the one who suggested they should have their own ship as well, just in case. Defiance issue 4 As part of a crowd of Autobots, he later watched from a distance as the Decepticon ship was launched. Foundation issue 3 During the subsequent civil war, Jazz fought alongside Optimus Prime in their struggle for freedom, but as the war reached its height, Optimus decided to launch the AllSpark into space to keep it out of Lord Megatron's hands and to buy them time. Defiance issue 4 Bumblebee was successful in diverting the Decepticon leader's attention at Tyger Pax, but was grievously injured as a result. Jazz was part of the team that discovered him in the wreckage after the Decepticons had left. Movie Prequel issue 1

As the Autobots prepared to leave Cybertron to go after Megatron and the AllSpark, Optimus Prime expressed concern on if the remaining civilians and Autobots on Cybertron could hold out while they were gone. Jazz informed him that their troops were laying low, but if the Decepticons tried any mischief, they would be in for a nasty surprise. The Reign of Starscream issue 1

Later, while on Earth, although nominally supposed to be out hunting Decepticons, Jazz was driving through the desert after a stray energy trace, chasing a hunch. The source of the trace turned out to be Space Case, trying to force a gas station attendant to give him all his energon. When the befuddled human expressed confusion, Space Case flew into a rage and accused the human of making fun of him. Jazz chose that moment to intervene, opining that Space Case was making fun of himself by trying to rob a gas station. The two fought briefly, with Space Case now convinced that Jazz was also making fun of him, before Space Case got the upper hand on the much smaller Autobot and pinned him to the ground with his trident. Jazz was able to ignite the station's underground gasoline tanks, seemingly destroying his attacker, and sped off safely with the attendant.

His victory was short-lived, however, as Space Case came howling out of the flames, intent on getting revenge on Jazz. Though Space Case was able to get his hands on him, Jazz deftly countered with a series of acrobatic moves and, when Space Case growled at him to shut up, told the Decepticon not to "knock his hustle". Distracted by Jazz's non-stop shuckin' and jivin', Space Case failed to notice that Jazz's seemingly stray crescent cannon shots had in fact dangerously weakened the cliff face behind him. The resulting rockslide buried the Decepticon.

Jazz apologized to the attendant for blowing up his gas station, but the human, showing an attitude lamentably uncommon to humans, thanked the "big guy" for saving his life, calling the station "a lousy job anyway." Jazz, tickled at the idea of being "big guy" to someone, told the attendant to help someone smaller than him in the future, and they'd be even. Transformers: Jazz Jazz would later tell Ratchet about his encounter with Space Case. Transformers: Ratchet

Shortly after the battle in Mission City, Captain Lennox, Sergeant Epps and the other soldiers helped Ironhide find suitable transportation for Jazz's remains. As Ironhide somberly placed Jazz's body into the trailer, the soldiers lowered their heads in honour of the Autobot who sacrificed his life to save theirs. Alliance issue 1

Later in the Nevada Desert, Optimus Prime and the other Autobots arrived with Jazz's remains. The Autobots escorted the Decepticons' carcasses while the U.S Navy planned on giving a proper burial ceremony for Jazz. Alliance issue 2 Weeks later, the Autobots and their soldier friends are on a US Navy aircraft carrier for Jazz's burial at sea. ===Ghosts of Yesterday===
On board the Ark, Jazz was the first to detect the Ghost 1's presence, and the first to point out that, despite the Cybertronian elements in its design, it did not originate from Cybertron. He was in favor of blowing it up anyway, as he agreed with Ironhide that there was a chance it could be a Decepticon ruse. After Bumblebee was sent to follow the ship down to a nearby planet, Ironhide and Optimus joked that Jazz would have made a poor scout.

When Blackout mounted an attack on the Ark, Jazz and Ironhide backed up Optimus. Jazz was unhappy when the plan changed, and the two Autobots were sent back to guard the ship, but they got to expel Bonecrusher from the hangar, and had the damage done repaired by the time Optimus returned. Jazz lost contact with Bumblebee, resulting in Optimus going down to the planet to check. While Optimus was gone, the Decepticons attacked once again, and Jazz came up with a new plan. Jazz kept the Decepticons distracted, while Ironhide attempted to approach the Nemesis through a sensor blind-spot.

Unfortunately the plan was ruined by the return of Starscream, and Jazz suffered a large amount of damage. Ironhide got the smaller Autobot back to the Ark, where Jazz was insistent that situation was bad enough that they should leave the area without Optimus and Bumblebee, as Prime has originally ordered. As it turned out, the two missing Autobots returned in time for it to not turn into an issue, and Optimus ordered another engagement. Despite his severe damage, Jazz was able to take out Frenzy and help Ironhide fight Bonecrusher. Transformers: Ghosts of Yesterday
Jazz likes "to keep his bodywork buff" by externalizing his Spark Core forcefield - in the past, that led to him almost being killed when Bonecrusher almost tore out his unprotected Spark. He only survived thanks to fellow Autobot Clocker, who was killed covering his retreat. Transformers Comic issue 6

When the AllSpark was launched, Jazz, Ratchet and Ironhide attempted to distract Megatron from pursuing it. They ended up attacked by Devastator and warped across space by a foldspace warhead. Prelude: Megatron

Jazz ended up on a planet that he dubbed "the Information Highway"—a constantly-morphing world with "the accumulated knowledge of countless alien cultures, condensed into some kind of sensory precipitation". He loved this world and the constant new experiences so much that he deliberately ignored Ratchet's homing beacon, wanting to stay here forever. However, the planet was alive and predatory, and ended up absorbing him into it - he fired off a warning buoy to stop others arriving, and only this led to Ratchet and Ironhide finding where he was and rescuing him. Transformers Comic issue 6
Because of a lack of troops on Earth, Ratchet used a corrupted fragment of the AllSpark to bring Jazz back to life in an alternate timeline where Megatron won the battle of Mission City. Happy to be back, Jazz blew off the suggestion that death had made any impact beyond him wanting to live every day as if it was his last, and he was dispatched with Ratchet to secure a raw energon field.

Unfortunately, it turned out the corrupted fragment had indeed led to Jazz himself being corrupted; he paralyzed Ratchet and attempted to exploit Earth's apocalypse by selling the newly energon rich planet to the highest bidder. His auction was interrupted by Dreadwing, who rejected an offer to join forces, and attacked. Ratchet revived and managed to destroy the energon field the auction was being held in; Jazz escaped in the resulting confusion. Transformers Comic issue 16
He later kept back as a happy hired gun for Starscream, out to murder Optimus Prime. He was prevented from this when the second hired gun, Kullt, turned up; he realised Starscream didn't trust him to be able kill an old comrade and was so insulted he gunned down the other mercenary. He was left rattled when Optimus pointed out he could have let Kullt do the work for him and then gun him down, which suggested there was still some goodness in him. He drove off in the face of reinforcements, vowing to prove Optimus wrong next time. Hard Target
Jazz arrived on Earth as part of Optimus Prime's unit, summoned to the human planet by Bumblebee. After taking on the form of a Pontiac Solstice, he met up with the other Autobots. His first mission was to distract Sector Seven and law enforcement units, which he did, buying his fellow Autobots time to escape. Jazz was then surrounded by Sector Seven SUVs and Decepticon drones numerous times, requiring Ironhide's help to escape.

He would then make his way to Mission City, where he engaged Starscream, Blackout and two Dreadwing drones. Jazz defeated all four of them, but as he celebrated his great victory, Brawl appeared behind him and punctured Jazz's chest with his claw, extinguishing his spark. Jazz's first appearance is with the other Autobots, meeting in an old junk yard. Setting out into the city, he retrieved a number of Sector Seven vehicles before running into Blackout; after a tedious battle, Blackout ran. Returning to the group, Jazz informs that Sector Seven holds Megatron and the AllSpark in the Hoover Dam and has patrols looking for the Autobots, which Bumblebee volunteered to distract them, getting himself caught in the progress. Jazz later upload a virus to access Sector Seven mainframe, and downloaded data from a military hangar. Jazz was able to get the data, despite being outnumbered by remote vehicles, returned to the rendezvous point, which he reported that he was able to find an entrance to the base and Bumblebee, but could not find Megatron and the AllSpark. Jazz tells Optimus that rescuing Bumblebee be their first priority because of Bumblebee's tracking ability, which Optimus agrees. When the Autobots returned to Tranquility with the AllSpark, Jazz required assistance to take out spark drones within the area. Create-A-Bot answered the call and both Autobots took out 50 drones. With the drones destroyed, Jazz stayed where he was in case more show up and told Create-A-Bot to check on Bumblebee. At the Hoover Dam, Jazz set up several automated anti-air turrets and Autobot drones around the lower perimeter of the Dam, preventing Megatron from escaping. However, this line of defense only works for so long, as the turrets could only fire at air-borne objects. Finally getting up the side of the Dam, Jazz stepped in Megatron's path, doing little more than trash talking before Megatron jumped into battle. After a roughly equal fight, Jazz finally fell.
: A much smaller version of the character, Movie Legends-Class Jazz features limited articulation and detail, along with a much simpler transformation. A rather glaring side-effect of this simplicity, in a desire to mimic the hood chest of the larger toy, is the addition of kibble: a second front bumper on the roof of his alt-mode. Whether this means Jazz also includes a second engine to go with this front bumper or an attempt at compensation for a case of police car envy is unknown. Ironically, the smallest version of Jazz is the biggest Legends toy in the movie line. Even bigger than Optimus. This may make up for the Arcee toy being taller than his Deluxe figure.

: If one wishes to have a fully painted robot faux chest; one must swap it with the one included in the "Allspark Battles" Jazz VS Bonecrusher two-pack (though it costs having two different shades of grey plastic). Also, care must be taken while transforming his rear vehicle section: his spoiler can somewhat easily pop off due to not being glued.

: The toy was also later released as part of the blind-packed EZ Collection lineup, distributed via TakaraTomy's subsidiary Subarudo.
: Jazz transforms into a silver Pontiac Solstice Custom Hardtop. Included is a blaster weapon that elongates into a sniper rifle that can be clipped directly onto his rear spoiler when in vehicle mode. In robot mode, the rifle can peg onto his arms, and the section featuring this same rear spoiler may be kept folded onto his back or worn on either shoulder as a shield. An interesting undocumented feature is a hinge joint located on the bottom of the rifle can attach to the shield's hinge joint, creating a total of three different weapon configurations: (a) an arm-mounted long range sniper rifle, (b) an ambidextrous shoulder-mounted cannon, or (c) a short range blaster with built-in shield somewhat akin to what has been seen in Jazz's concept art and in the movie itself.

: As with most of the mainline toys, he features a Automorphing gimmick that is activated by pushing the car roof down onto his back and locking it into place. This raises his head and slides his chest panels into proper position for the robot mode. This feature, like the weaponry mentioned above, is not documented at all, so one must be careful to not press the chest and the back at the same time.
: This figure also features a minor retool of the joint in the forearm. **Accessories: "Crescent Cannon", energy-blast missile, trunk/shield

: An extensive retool of Jazz, modifying his head and most of his legs to give them a broken, battle-scarred appearance. Amusingly, because Hasbro chose to keep his vehicle mode pristine, the rest of his body is undamaged. All the damaged parts have a black and blue deco, representing glowing circuitry and exposed conduits.

: Jazz comes with a brand new spring-loaded weapon (called a Crescent Cannon on the packaging), partially modeled after the actual weapon Jazz appears with in the film. It can fire a transparent blue projectile and, not unlike his original featured weapon, can be mounted in different configurations: (a) Mounted on his arm with the Crescent Cannon missile launcher (with the crescent up) facing forward a la the film, or (b) mounted on his arm with the flip-out rifle barrel pointed forwards (with the crescent down). The cannon can be rotated on the connecting peg, allowing the gun to be mounted in either configuration on either arm.

: Unusual for a regular Deluxe Class figure, this version of Jazz is packaged on his card in robot mode, no doubt to highlight the changes to the figure that would not be visible in the vehicle mode.

: As part of the Robot Replicas line, this version of Jazz is a non-transforming action figure that utilizes Revoltech-style jointing. The sculpt hews much closer to the movie CGI model than is possible with the full transforming toys, plus the universal jointing of the line allows for his forearm to be replaced with the included Crescent Cannon (which is also called that on the toy's packaging), or parts from other Robot Replica figures. Jazz's shoulders are actually mounted on the wrong sides of the toy as compared to the Movie's CG design, but can easily swapped due to the toy's body construction.
**Accessories: Movie-style Autobot sigil display stand

: Titanium Series Jazz is a die-cast metal and plastic figurine, with an accurate sculpt based on the slender CG model owing to the fact he doesn't need to transform. Being a figurine, he only has articulation in his shoulders, neck and waist. Jazz is sculpted with a small handgun that was only featured in concept art early in film development when Arcee was still a part of the main cast. Jazz comes with a Movie-style Autobot symbol display stand, as is expected.

*Autobot Jazz / Captain Lennox (Human Alliance, 2010)
**Japanese ID number: RA-32
**Accessories: Motorcycle/Slug Repeater, missile

: Human Alliance Jazz comes with Captain Lennox, who can interact with him in various ways.

: Firstly, a motorcycle and a missile is included, with the missile being stored by plugging it to the side of the motorcycle, acting as an exhaust pipe, although it detaches easily. The motorcycle can also be transformed into a spring-loaded, projectile-firing "Shielded blaster" resembling Jazz's Crescent Cannon and attached to his arm. Lennox can ride the motorcycle in either mode, with a different set of handlebars to grip in each mode.

: As usual, Lennox (or any other Human Alliance figure) can be seated inside Jazz in vehicle mode. In robot mode, the seats become his feet, which Lennox can still sit on. The leg panels near his feet each feature a small, flip-out, double-barreled weapon at the tip which, when the panels are flipped down, provide Lennox with an over-the-shoulder restraint with guns attached. Lennox can also be seated on Jazz's left shoulder and man a cannon which is, in itself, mounted onto Lennox's shoulder, though the instructions fail to point out the flip out seat that is positioned there for him.

: Finally, Jazz has a switch on the back of his head that flips his visor up and down, giving us a rare glimpse of his sculpted eyes. Unfortunately, it is painted the same bronze color as most of his face, so you might have to squint to see them.

: The Japanese release sees the transparent blue plastic used for the windows and the visor switched for clear plastic on the windows and orange for the visor.

: Despite his small vehicle mode, he's actually quite tall for a Human Alliance figure, being roughly as tall as Barricade at the head. He's also quite decked out in paint operations, being slathered in silver paint, with a bit of bronze and gold to boot.

: His packaging stock photography shows him reversed and minimally mis-transformed, with his shoulder seat on the wrong side and his front grille left unrotated. His instructions also haphazardly tell you to pull the hood up and out before you detach and pull his front wheels/shoulders apart, a feat which is excruciatingly hard to accomplish. It is actually much easier to pull the hood after, when the small tabs on the hood aren't locked to the wheels/shoulders on the sides.

: Captain Lennox uses a more simplified design than other Human Alliance figures, with the waist and wrist joints omitted, meaning that he is unable to grip the horizontal handles on the shoulder cannon and motorcycle with his vertically-aligned hands.
:Studio Series Jazz is an all-new figure that is intended to replicate his onscreen appearance better than any other toy representation of the character has before, with an emphasis on scaling with the rest of the Studio Series figures. It takes design cues from the Human Alliance figure, sharing several transformation elements. His Crescent Cannon can either be attached by pegging it into the 5mm hole in his left hand or by rotating either hand and attaching it to the rectangular peg on the other side. He also comes with a cardboard backdrop depicting the battle of Mission City.

:When converting into vehicle mode, there is a peg on the inner roof of the car that should peg into a hole on the back of Jazz's pelvis. While the rest of the transformation is possible without this, the doors will have a harder time staying pegged in properly. The head should also be rotated before pushing it down to make it easier to pull back out, as there is no tab on the hinge it's connected to to pull it back out. Not mentioned or shown on the packaging, the shield can be stored in vehicle mode by folding the handle down and slotting it into the front of the spoiler. The Hasbro stock photography mistakenly neglects to rotate the center of his bumper chest.
Notes
* The packaging text for the Deluxe Jazz figure refers to his weapon as a "telescoping sword". As ridiculous as this sounds, considering this weapon looks like a firearm and can attach to his spoiler in vehicle mode as such, this very idea actually comes from concept drawings of a sword weapon featured on the same concept art that also had Jazz showcasing the short range blaster/shield thingy both featured in the film and included with his Final Battle retool. So, really...not that ridiculous anymore.
* According to a press kit sent out in conjunction with the movie, Jazz has a "near-perfect recordable memory that makes him invaluable as a documenter of battles" and is "equipped with a fusion engine that allows him to reach sub-light speeds in vehicle mode." One, uh, would hope a Pontiac Solstice would be travelling at sub-light speeds...
* During the final battle in Mission City, there's a long period during which Jazz is not doing anything. He's standing around in vehicle mode when Ironhide notices that the F-22 flying above the city is Starscream, stays in vehicle mode when Ironhide and Bumblebee pick up a Furby delivery truck for cover, still remains in vehicle mode when Starscream blasts them, and after Sam discovers that Bumblebee has lost his legs, all Jazz does is pull back for a few feet to give Bumblebee space to crawl. In the end, Jazz doesn't really join the battle at all until Brawl shows up.

* In an earlier draft of the movie script, Megatron was supposed to "consume" the sparks of Autobots he killed. A remainder of this can be found in the novelization and the IDW comic adaptation of the movie, which both explicitly state that Megatron tears out Jazz's spark. In the movie itself, however, Megatron simply appears to kill Jazz by ripping him apart at the waist, even though Frenzy was previously able to survive as a detached head. However, a later rejiggering of Frenzy's biology makes this a moot point.
*Jazz's manner of speech is a late development. In the early script draft his first line in the film is simply saying "Greetings" to the humans. In the novelization, in which all Transformers speak unnaturally formal English, this line is expanded to "Greetings, terrestrial adolescent humans."
* Though it is very brief, Jazz does indeed get a face close-up during the Mission City battle when he is shot by Megatron and falls over in pain, before he is ripped in half.
* The Pontiac Solstice prop car used for the movie sports the license plate "664 NLZO", without a state-specific registration. Although barely identifiable during his transformation before his fight with Brawl, the car on display at GM Riverwalk in Detroit in June 2007 sported the same plate. His robot CG model sports the license plate "1-4027E" instead... which also happens to be Barricade's license plate in vehicle mode. The license plate can be briefly glimpsed in the movie when Barricade slows down after having seemingly cornered Bumblebee, but is more clearly seen in set photos.
* In an appeal to his better nature in Titan, Optimus said part of him was "still Autobot Jazz", a reference to the name of the Jazz toys.
* Jazz was included in the downloadable content for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the Revenge of the Fallen game. Apparently over-compensating for not being in the movie, Jazz is pretty much the most dangerous robot ever. If you play against him, just run like hell (Even if it's hopeless, 'cause he'll slag you anyway).
* In both of his console game appearances for the first movie game and the second, Jazz was not seen wearing his iconic visor. The unlockable G1 skin of the first game does include it, however.
* Jazz is killed by three completely different Decepticons. He's killed by Megatron in the movie and in the Decepticons game for DS, while Brawl is the one that kills the Autobot in the Autobot campaign and a fake law enforcer kills him in the Decepticon campaign in the Transformers 2007 video game.
Two Transformers and a human are zapped to another dimension. Fourth-wall-breaking hijinks ensue!

Synopsis
One morning in Detroit, Professor Sumdac presents his latest invention, the Bi-directional Unified Transit Terminal, to Sari, Optimus Prime, and Bumblebee. Sumdac hopes that the BUTT (Giggle.) can be used to return the Autobots to Cybertron while also assisting on Earth. Sumdac prepares the machine for a test, but a reaction to Sari's Key causes the machine to send her, Prime, and Bumblebee through a crack in space to a strange city filled with unfamiliar robots. The three are suddenly accosted by Officer Flareup, who grows exasperated when Optimus tells her that he is a Prime, and she points to a sign indicating that Megatrons, Primes, and cosmic MacGuffins are banned. Flareup radios in the three's arrival, and proceeds to explain to the confused trio that they are in Axiom Nexus, a city in an alternate Cybertron with no war. She takes them to Processing, where, after seventeen hours of paperwork, the exasperated travelers exit. However, they are soon confronted by the TransTech Shockwave and a group of heavily-armed guards. The scientist detains Optimus and Sari for being threats to planetary security, the former for being a Prime and the latter for carrying a MacGuffin. Bumblebee is incensed at Shockwave's insistence that he's only dangerous in conjunction with a spunky human sidekick, while Flareup, feeling guilty for their detainment, promises Bumblebee that she'll help rescue them.

At Shockwave's lab, Sari and Prime are chained to tables, as Shockwave begins "Proactive Maintenance" to determine if they are a threat to his Cybertron. Sari begs to be let go, but her pleas fall on deaf ears, and Shockwave takes her key away. Turning his attention to Optimus, he begins to perform a routine matrix check, much to Optimus's discomfort. Back in Axiom Nexus, Bumblebee is ordering some food, much to Flareup's consternation. In the line behind them, a purple reptilian Transformer shouts for them to hurry up. Bumblebee apologizes, telling him that he's new here. The Transformer's tune changes, welcoming him and telling him that his name is "Joe". Bumblebee dismisses a vague feeling of familiarity and explains his situation to "Joe". The "heroic" Predacon is intrigued by the mention of Sari's MacGuffin, and promises he will help save their friends. Bumblebee comes up with a plan involving a trained chimp marching band, but after that plan fails, "Joe" comes up with another one at the car wash.

At Shockwave's lab, Flareup is stopped by a TransTech guard, who demands to know what she's doing. Flareup explains that she's transferring her new prisoners, "Beeimus Prime" and "Joe Convoy", for being Primes. The guard falls for it and lets the three inside. "Joe" tells Bumblebee and Flareup to keep Shockwave occupied while he frees the hostages. Bumblebee confronts Shockwave, telling him to free his friends, but Shockwave has already accounted for the possibility of a rescue, and activates the automated defenses. Unfortunately for the scientist, "Joe" has managed to slip by and proceeds to knock Shockwave down. "Joe" begins to laugh malevolently, and grabs Sari's key. Dropping his "Joe" facade, Megatron declares that with the key, he will conquer the TransTech's Cybertron. Shockwave reluctantly releases Optimus and Sari, and the Transformers all work together to attack Megatron. Unfortunately, all damage they incur to him is healed by the key, and Megatron uses it to give life to Shockwave's lab equipment. Megatron declares himself unstoppable, but Sari, thinking quickly, uses the power of bureaucracy. The heroes proceed to explain to the lab equipment that with their newfound sentience, they now need licenses, registration, tax forms, and school. Angered, the lab-bots grab Megatron and take off with him, the Predacon declaring that he will have his revenge. Sari retrieves her key, and Shockwave, heavily annoyed, uses his authority to send the three straight back to their home dimension. Shockwave and Flareup agree to never speak of the incident again.

Back on Earth, Optimus, Bumblebee, and Sari also agree never to talk about this adventure. Prime compliments Bumblebee for his bravery, and is moved by what he saw in Axiom Nexus. Autobots, Decepticons, Maximals, Predacons, and countless other factions all living in harmony has inspired him, and he prepares to burst into song. Bumblebee and Sari panic, and restrain Prime before he can wax lyrical.
Dr. Sumdac: "We're ready for a test run now. Here we go!"<br>
Sari: "Hey! My Key is acting weird again."<br>
Dr. Sumdac: "Oh, my! This is not going to turn out well!"<br>
All: "ahhhhhhhhhhhhh."
:—Sari, Dr. Sumdac, Optimus Prime, and Bumblebee show us a fine example of dull surprise.

"Hmm. No Megatrons, no Primes, no Cosmic MacGuffins, and no soliciting. By order of the Axiom Nexus... tourism board?!"
:—Bumblebee reads the sign of rules in Axiom Nexus, unlike Megatron, Prime, and Sari!

"Begin proactive maintenance log: Subject A, adolescent human female, has regained consciousness and has demonstrated both an awareness of the narrator and an utter disregard for the fourth wall."
:—Shockwave records his observations.

"Okay, so you've got some crazy no-Prime policy, I can roll with that. But why am I under arrest? I'm just a little girl. I'm no harm to anyone. Can you please just let me go, pleeeaaaase?"<br>
"Child, the only way you could make me more suspicious is if you were wearing a yellow hard hat!"
:—Despite Sari Sumdacs best efforts, Shockwave knows the deal with human companion characters.

"Items of cosmic significance like this AllSpark-powered key are contraband in Axiom Nexus, and I will not allow you to deus ex machina your way out of this."<br>
"Deus ex machina isn't a verb."<br>
"SILENCE!!"
:—Shockwave and Optimus argue proper grammar usage.

"I shall begin with you, as to avoid delving too deeply into any dark secrets of this girl's past that the audience might find too interesting."<br>
"What? It's not like I'm some hyper-advanced, human-like robot my dad made or anything. That's silly."
:—Shockwave and Sari carefully avoid spoilers.

Bumblebee: "Uh, yeah. I-I'd like, um... whoo. Uh, y—lemme get a shake...some fries, side of barbecue sauce... uh, what's a Manwich? ...Ohhh, okay, yeah, I'll take one of those too!"<br>
Loudspeaker: "Revah ruh rug reese, issra rayest ruh."<br>
Flareup: "Bumblebee, what are you doing?!"<br>
Bumblebee: "A contractually obligated gag."

"We need help. BIG help! Maybe we can rig up a communicator and call in Grimlock. Or maybe con Lugnut into helping us out."<br>
"Oh, please. What do I look like, Scott McNeil?"
:—Bumblebee's plan is shot down by "Joe". Maybe he should've tried asking Blitzwing instead?
** Chris Ho: Shockwave
** Pete Sinclair: Pete Sinclair
* Anastasia and Chris were the winners of the Idol voice acting contest held that weekend. Everyone played the parts of the newly created lab-equipment bots, with Marty Isenberg having their only line in English.
* Mentioned characters include: Starscream, Grimlock, and Lugnut.

Continuity notes
* Optimus, Bumblebee, and Sari all come from an indeterminate point in the Animated cartoon timeline. Ask Vector Prime would later state they did not come from the main Animated cartoon universe.
* This story, while jokey, is canon to the TransTech stories, with Prime, Bumblebee, and Sari's arrival being mentioned in "Withered Hope", and Bulletbike noticing Flareup and Bumblebee in "I, Lowtech".

Transformers references
* Prime points out that Professor Sumdac sounds weird: with Tom Kenny not being at the convention, Sumdac's role is filled by Marty Isenberg.
* The Bi-directional Unified Transit Terminal, or BUTT for short, is a gag based on the Fully Automated Rapid Transit System from Animated's first episode, which had the unintentional acronym "FARTS".
* When Prime, Bumblebee, and Sari are transported to Axiom Nexus, they let out a dull, lifeless yell, in reference to dull surprise, which plagued the Dreamwave Productions comics in the early 2000's.
* Bumblebee yells out to a passerby, asking how they walk without knees. This was an incredibly common articulation issue of most figures pre-Beast Wars.
* Flareup was a 2005 exclusive.
* Bumblebee is consistently misidentified by characters in the story to various other kid-appeal characters. Flareup identifies him as "a kid-appeal yellow-car-type", narrowed down to either "a Bumblebee or a Hot Shot", also referencing early Animated plans for Hot Shot to be the kid-appeal character of the crew. Various characters later "mistake" him for Wheelie, Side Burn, and Cheetor.
* Bumblebee is the fifth Bumblebee that has entered Axiom Nexus on that day, in reference to his live-action counterpart's popularity boosting the number of Bumblebees.
* Sari's befuddlement at a robot having high heels and Flareup's own distaste at having such an attribute is a reference to the long-standing tradition of giving female Transformers heels to look more feminine.
* Shockwave states that the only thing that would make him more suspicious of Sari would be her wearing a yellow hard hat, which was used by multiple human characters in the original The Transformers cartoon, regardless of profession.
* Shockwave and Sari tongue-in-cheekly refer to her then mysterious origins. They almost get it right!
* Shockwave refers to Optimus as "Rescue Roy", heroic firetruck from the 1-2-3 Transformers toyline.
* Bumblebee ordering fast food is a reference to a longstanding BotCon voice actor panel tradition, which involves the attending actors performing their characters ordering at a drive-thru.
* When introducing himself to Bumblebee and Flareup, Megatron mentions that when he and his kind came in, it was believed that they would destroy the franchise, er, multiverse. This refers to the somewhat...over-the-top reaction that the original Beast Wars toys were greeted with.
* When Bumblebee thinks up of various David Kaye-voiced characters to call in for help, Megatron asks if he looks like Scott McNeil, who played quite a few characters in Beast Wars.
* While masquerading as a Prime, Megatron identifies himself as "Joe Convoy", playing on the Japanese name for Optimus and his ilk.
* Bumblebee calls Shockwave "Shockblast", the "close enough" name used as a substitute for "Shockwave" for a time when Hasbro was unable to secure that trademark.
* Shockwave suggests they defeat Megatron by having Prime attack him with long, drawn out stock footage attack while the other stand around and call out with burning justice to help empower him. This is in reference to the Unicron Trilogy-era cartoons' final showdowns, with rather bog-standard anime fights.
* In a sort of anti-reference, Prime and Bumblebee's "let us never speak of it again" conclusion provides an in-story reason for why none of this extra-dimensional silliness was ever mentioned on the actual Animated cartoon.

Real-world references
* Professor Sumdac refers to Sari as "the joy and the laughter," a reference to actress Tara Strong's role as Bubbles in The Powerpuff Girls. Bubbles is proclaimed to be "the joy and the laughter" in that show's closing theme tune.
* Prime remarks that waiting in line for 17 hours "took longer than an InuYasha story arc". David Kaye played a recurring role in that series as InuYasha's brother, Sesshomaru. (David also punctuated the gag with a little fist-pump.)
* When Bumblebee places his fast-food order, the nearly incomprehensible drive-thru speaker replies "Sever your leg please, it's the greatest day." The line is a direct lift from the Homestar Runner cartoon "Drive-Thru" featuring a randomly-appearing, nearly incomprehensible drive-thru speaker.
* When trying to sneak Bumblebee and "Joe" into Shockwave's lab, Flareup tells the TransTech guard that it's a "prison transfer from cell block 1138". While the guard does not get the reference, it's a line uttered by Luke Skywalker in the first Star Wars film (which in turn is a reference to one of George Lucas's early films, THX 1138).
* The script specifies that when Megatron attacks Shockwave, he shouts "Hi-keeba!", a shout originating from Women of the Prehistoric Planet. It was riffed by Mystery Science Theater 3000, a favorite of the authors. This is turned into a generic "Hi-yah!" by Kaye.
* Bumblebee tries to get the maniacally laughing (and coughing) Megatron's attention with a "Yo, Joe?" This is, of course, a reference to the battle cry of G.I. Joe from the eponymous '80s cartoon series. Flareup follows up with "Wrong convention", referencing Fun Publications' role in running the annual G.I. Joe convention.
* Sari calls Megatron a "big bucket-headed bully Barney", in reference to the other Barney & Friends.
* When Sari snatches Bumblebee's meal, Bumblebee laments "My manwich!", a line used by another of voice actor Bumper Robinson's characters, Dwight Conrad of Futurama.
* With the AllSpark Key in hand, Megatron claims he has "a big boost of confidence", a tag line from commercials Kaye narrated touting Enzyte, a non-prescription drug for... er, male performance enhancement. In a similar vein (Ha-haaa! Vein!), he also refers to himself as "the Keymaster" (much to Flareup's disgust), a reference to the movie Ghostbusters.
* One of the newly born lab robots, upon being told of the forms it will have to fill out, says "What you talkin' 'bout, Wheelie?", a reference to the catchphrase of a young Gary Coleman in Diff'rent Strokes.
* Bumblebee calls Megatron a "Jurassic dork".
* During the epilogue, Prime adds to the list of Bumblebee's misnomers by calling him "T-Bob", the robot sidekick from the '80s cartoon series/Kenner toy line M.A.S.K..

Trivia
* Sari is mistakenly described as an "adolescent", which is a teenager.
* After Sari's "human-like robot" line, Marty Isenberg put his finger to his lip and looked upwards in a very hammy faux-innocent look....
:Backtrack is a Mini-Con from the Armada portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Backtrack is a speed demon on the field, and a shameless liar in his personal dealings. He makes empty promises that he has no intentions of keeping, goes back on his word at the first chance, and makes no excuses or apologies for his behavior. This makes him highly unpopular with other Mini-Cons and the Autobots, but his skills as a recon soldier make him very valuable, much to his teammates’ chagrin. Still, maybe Spiral can beat him into line.

Fiction
Armada cartoon
After the Decepticons got ahold of the Star Saber, Backtrack was among the new Mini-Cons seen in their possession. Conspiracy

On a later mission, Megatron gathered Backtrack and a number of other Mini-Cons to help him in a scheme against Optimus Prime. Prime managed to win the Mini-Cons' loyalty, however, by absorbing their laser fire without resistance or fighting back. Moved by his actions, Backtrack and the others turned on Megatron and accompanied Optimus back to Autobot headquarters. Vow

As the Autobots prepared their new spaceship to chase the Decepticons back to Cybertron, Backtrack and the united Mini-Cons were seen helping with the construction work. Remorse Backtrack and the Mini-Cons all chose to willingly follow the Autobots into space aboard the Axalon, fighting alongside them against the Decepticons. Depart

Dreamwave Armada comic
Backtrack and the rest of the Street Speed Team were among the Mini-Cons who lived on Earth's moon following their escape from Cybertron. Dreamwave Armada issue 9 Unfortunately, Dualor brought the Earth-based Mini-Cons there, which also brought the Decepticons. While the moonbase was under attack, Backtrack and the others escaped in a rocket-pod. Dreamwave Armada issue 11 The pod crashed in northern Alaska, leaving the Street Speed Team, Inferno, and Comettor deactivated. Fire & Ice Ultimately the Autobots were successful in retrieving the pod. Dreamwave Armada issue 13

Backtrack later returned to Cybertron and helped Over-Run activate the Mini-Con Matrix, which dealt a critical blow to Unicron. The End

Cybertron toy bios
The Street Speed Team were sent to Velocitron as advance scouts for the Autobots. The planet's mass of winding high-speed tracks really appealed to them, to the point where they started having a hard time tearing themselves from the road to get their missions underway.
In Japan, it was part of the massive first wave of Legend of the Microns product, released in December 2002. Aside from packaging, there are no noteworthy differences between the two releases. The Armada release was also made available in a clamshelled two-pack at various retail outlets. The firefighters were horrified when the two announced their intention was not to help extinguish the fire, but to add to it. Smolder ordered Chopster to destroy the water hoses, which the Mini-Con gleefully agreed to.

Bumblebee and Ratchet came to the rescue and confronted Chopster. After making his threats, however, Chopster fled, screaming, once Bumblebee revved his engines at him. Chopster returned quickly thereafter, attached to Smolder in vehicle mode. After suffering their flame attack, Ratchet knocked Chopster off Smolder's roof with an EMP blast. The blast forced Chopster to reconfigure into "fire axe" mode, which Smolder was fine with. He picked up Chopster and threw him at the Autobots, but they were able to deflect him. Ultimately, Smolder too was defeated. Cyber Missions 9
*Smolder with Chopster (Commander Class, 2010)

: Chopster was available only with his larger partner Smolder as part of the first wave of Power Core Combiners Commander Class figures. Chopster transforms from a robot into a flame-cannon that can be attached to the Commanders in vehicle mode, a hand-held double-headed axe, and "body armor" for both normal and super-mode Commanders.

: Chopster's axe mode features a two-tier handle allowing standard 5mm hole use, with a smaller size peg at the tip, allowing figures with smaller hand-holes to grip it. Unfortunately, figures with shallow holes, such as Bombshock will only grasp failingly at the narrow tip. Chopster's powerlink port includes the raised center per usual Mini-cons, but is too short to activate any features on some Armada toys.

: This mold was also used to make Razorbeam and Peaceman.

: During the period between 26 December 2010 and 31 January 2011, Hasbro ran their "Supercharge Your Holidays" promotion: for every $20 spent on Hasbro-branded product, customers could receive a free, random product from a list provided by Hasbro. Among the items on the list was "Transformers Combiners & Speed Stars Mini Vehicle". According to this discussion thread on Allspark.com, Smolder with Chopster was one of the figures distributed.
*Power Core Combiners Special Value Offer (2011)

: Smolder and Chopster also made available as part of a Walmart-exclusive Black Friday "Value Pack", combining a 5-pack team with a Commander 2-pack via packaging tape and a couple of stickers, for the whopping price of ten bucks, merely a third of what the two toys would normally cost.

: So far, Smolder has only been found attached to the Mudslinger/Destructicons set.
