I think my problem with the line is that it implies that whitey is somehow exempt from looking foolish and stupid and stereotypical. Good gods, there's the history teacher, jock Trent, Tuturro playing "officious government prick" to the extreme, Sam's oblivious upper-middle-class parents, the dorks in Maggie's hacker team... and of course Sam, stuttering geek. Just to go back to the kid's dad - according to IMDB, the kid's name is Mahfous, and I believe the dad is Akram, played by [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0542492/ this actor].
