The construction of the world's largest tidal power plant in the Karin Islands quickly attracts the attention of the Decepticons, and the Autobots are once again faced with the power of the Godmaster brothers.

Synopsis
In Giga and Mega's secret headquarters, the Decepticons make plans to move their operations back to the base used by the Pretenders. Giga plans to destroy the base once they have left, in order to cover their tracks, but Mega requests that it be left intact so she can use it as a secret laboratory.

At the International School in Japan, Shūta's mind is occupied by thoughts of the Godmaster brothers, but the mood is lightened by the arrival of Cab's pets, followed by the jungle boy himself. Cab has just been released from detention with his most hated teacher, Mr. Kaiser, after scoring a zero on a test, and it's not long before Kaiser himself appears, with a letter from Cab's homeland. The three Headmaster Juniors retire to Cab's treehouse, where Cab reads the letter and discovers that the world's largest tidal power plant has been constructed on Viscas Island.

Soon after, the Juniors join the Autobot Pretenders in reviewing video footage of their battle with the Godmasters. Although the Autobots believed that they had not been able to inflict any damage to the brothers, a slowed-down replay of the action reveals that they had indeed injured them, but that the Godmasters' incredible powers had healed it instantaneously. This confirms Hawk's suspicions—the Godmasters are neither Transformers nor humans, but an entirely new breed of lifeform. Cab, however, is unconcerned, certain that the Autobots can beat the Godmasters, and Hawk snaps at him to take the matter seriously, as it is more than likely that the Godmasters possess even greater power that the Autobots have yet to see. Cab doesn't take the scolding well and mopes around the base until Minerva accuses him of being childish. In a rather silly effort to prove his manhood, Cab gulps down the scalding hot cup of tea that Minerva has just poured, and burns himself—much to the amusement of the other two Juniors. Cab is also able to see the funny side, and the bad atmosphere is lifted.

Meanwhile, the Decepticons have relocated to the Pretenders' base, where Cancer wants to show off his "Super Dragon Fist Technique" to Mega. Gilmer is elected to serve as his "sand bag", and is floored by Cancer's attack. As Wilder and Bullhorn mutter about how Cancer has become like Mega's pet, Giga, Hydra and Buster enter, and the Decepticons review their strategy for world domination.

Mega wishes to start with Asia, and recommends the elimination of all readily-available energy sources in the region – so naturally, Viscas Island's tidal power plant is the first target she chooses. Before departing to commence the attack, the Godmasters condescendingly invite the Pretenders to come and watch, to see how it should be done. Giga and Mega try to soothe the Pretenders' tempers by explaining that the Godmasters and Headmaster Juniors are best suited to their operations on Earth due to their inherent human factor, but being ranked lower on the importance scale than the Juniors is the last straw for the Pretenders, and they head for Viscas Island to join in the attack.

As Hydra and Buster begin the assault on the tidal power plant, the Autobots receive news of the attack and the Pretenders head out. Soon after, however, the Decepticon Pretenders appear on the island and attack its oil refinery, forcing the Headmaster Juniors to join in the battle. Metalhawk and the Juniors perform rescue operations and battle the Pretenders, ultimately forcing them to retreat, and then rush to the aid of Lander, Diver and Phoenix, who are fighting the Godmasters. The Autobots are badly outmatched by the Godmasters' Chōkon Power, but Metalhawk is able to distract Buster with his "Shining Arrow" technique, allowing Diver to lodge his Sea Axe in the younger Godmaster's arm. Buster is unable to heal the wound with the axe stuck in his arm, so Hydra tears it free, but the injured Buster is shaken, and the Godmasters pull out of the fight. The Autobots survey the battlefield, content at least that they have kept the damage to a minimum.

Back in the Decepticon base, Buster is furious over his failure, and wonders if he is, in fact, weaker than his brother. Mega and Giga assure him that he possesses the same level of Chōkon Power as Hydra, and that any weakness he possesses is not physical, but in his heart. At the same time as Buster vows to become even stronger than his brother, the strength of the Godmasters is also once again on the mind of Shūta, who wants to know why there aren't any Autobot Godmasters...
Notes
Animation and technical errors
*As in the previous episode, the parts of Hydra's robot mode which should be red are colored grey-white. This error is corrected from next episode onward.
*Improbable viewpoints:
**Somehow the Pretenders have multi-angle footage of their fight with the Godmaster brothers from the previous episode.

Continuity notes
*Cab's letter is from Donq, his grandfather-figure, last seen in "Terror! The Decepticons' Manhunt".
*Although the previous episode established that Godmasters possess Ten-Chi-Jin Power, it was up to the audience to draw the connection between the three energies—Tenchōkon, Chichōkon, Jinchōkon—mentioned back in "Go, Goshooter - Showdown in the Wasteland". The connection is made explicit by Giga in this episode, and the Godmasters start using the energy offensively.
*Despite Mega's insistence that their old base be preserved, it never appears again.

Trivia
*Cancer's "Super Dragon Fist" involves... kicking the enemy.
*As in the previous episode, there is once again very little reason for the Godmasters to retreat from the fight, give that Buster should have healed in seconds after the axe was dislodged from his arm. Although perhaps what makes Buster suspect he has less Chōkon Power than Hydra is the fact that he didn't heal, necessitating the retreat.
*Yet again poor Minerva doesn't actually get to join in the battle but instead sits on the sidelines wrapping bandages around the heads of bystanders. She doesn't even join the triumphant pose at the end of the episode with Shuta and Cab, staying in human form instead.
*The Omni Productions dub version of this episode misses out the episode's title name announcement over the original title card.
*The narrator declares that Giga and Mega are collectively the 'Ambassadors of Destruction'. This is obviously a take on the Emperor of Destruction title used in Japan to refer to leaders of the Decepticons, most recently Galvatron, but one that stops short of declaring they have supreme authority and hints at someone in the hierarchy above them.
A new element enters the Masterforce War in the form of Hydra and Buster—the Godmasters!

Synopsis
As the Sun rises over the mountains, Dauros runs through a dew-soaked field, late for a rendezvous with the other Decepticons atop a seaside cliff. He is still keeping better time than the Headmaster Juniors, though, who are late due to Cancer sleeping in and soon arrive all piled onto Wilder's motorcycle. Blood warns them that they must hurry... for their superiors have summoned them! The group boards a small submarine, which brings them to a secret base hidden amidst mist-shrouded islands. An electronic sensor appears from behind a rock wall, clearing them to proceed, and the submarine docks within a cavern, which opens out into a lush garden decorated with ornate, palatial fixtures, and two suits of armor. Cancer is mildly insulted that no-one is there to welcome them, but Blood is sure someone is watching them—a concern that proves correct when the suits of armor spring to life and attack the six Decepticons with bladed weapons. Realising that they are being tested, Blood prevents Dauros from fighting back, and the armored figures promptly shed their suits, revealing the forms of the two seemingly-ordinary young human men within. The bespectacled man does not lessen his attack, striking Blood with a shockingly powerful kick, and when Blood decides that it's time to reciprocate, he dodges every blow with ease. Blood draws his blaster, but a commanding voice rings out, ordering him to halt—the voice of an elaborately-dressed man, who stands on the other side of the battlefield with a similarly clad woman. The two young men bow before this couple, addressing them as "Lord Giga" and "Lady Mega". Giga instructs everyone to follow him, and Mega assures the shocked Headmaster Juniors that they have nothing to fear.

Back in Japan, Shūta, Cab and Minerva are training for a hang-gliding competition, and have been practising all afternoon until the Sun begins to set. Concerned about the lack of Decepticon activity, Hawk contacts Diver, who is relaxing in the Sun, but promises to keep vigilant.

Back at the Decepticons' secret base, Giga explains that he and Mega have not revealed themselves before now because they have been secretly researching a new Master technique—a technique embodied in the two young men who attacked the Decepticons earlier, Hydra and Buster. Infused with Chōkon Power, these two men are hyper-evolved Transformer lifeforms—Godmasters! They too wear Master-Braces, which allow them to connect to jet Transtectors as engines, rather than heads. Hydra insults the Pretenders' failures up to this point, but Blood and Gilmer insist that they do not require the Godmasters' help in crushing the Autobots. Hydra claims that the Pretenders have not yet seen a fraction of their awesome powers, and display a new one right away by combining into the giant jet, Darkwings. Blood also transforms to jet mode, and they fly out of the base, intending to pit their strengths against each other.

Back in Japan, the next morning has come, and the hang-gliding contest is about to begin. Minerva is nervous, but Shūta reassures her, and Cab gives her a few last-minute pointers before the contest starts. Lander and Hawk are watching the contest from Autobot Base when they receive a report from Phoenix that London Airport has detected three unidentified jets heading for Japan at speeds too fast to track by radar. Military jets attempt to intercept the aircraft—which are, of course, the Decepticons—but Hydra and Buster use their Chōkon Power to destroy them. Blood remains unimpressed, determined to outdo the Godmaster brothers, and when Cancer tells them about the hang-gliding competition, he opts to use it as a display of the Pretenders' refined, unarmed fighting techniques. The Autobot Headmaster Juniors quickly spot them, and when Cab is knocked out of the sky, he transforms to robot mode to save himself, revealing the Autobots' presence to the Decepticons. The Decepticons Headmaster Juniors transform and move in on Cab, but Shūta drops out of the sky in robot mode to lend him a hand while Minerva deals with the injured hang-gliders.

Hawk and Lander see the attack on television and head out to join the fight, engaging the Decepticon Pretenders in battle, but when the villains fall before them. Hydra and Buster decide it is time to enter the conflict. Transforming to robot mode, they quickly take down the two Autobot Pretenders, and are about to finish them when Phoenix and Diver soar onto the scene and blast the weapons from their hands. They combine into Darkwings to pursue the two Pretenders, but Metalhawk transforms to jet mode as well and the three aerial Autobots are able to overpower the Godmasters and they opt to withdraw for now.

As the Sun sets after the battle, the Autobots make some attempt at levity as Diver decides that he will enter the next hang-gliding competition, and Lander claims that all he does is sunbathe, but Hawk does not join in the laughter, concerned with the hidden powers of these two new Decepticons...
Animation and technical errors
*Throughout this episode, the parts of Hydra's robot mode which should be red are colored grey-white. This error continues into the next episode, but is fixed thereafter.
*Scanning the Decepticon submarine, the circular monitor appears to read "WEAPON No. 425" followed immediately by it being called "Weapon 925."
*Hawk's computer panel changes. Initially one observes it blinking wildly. Then, during the closeup of Hawk typing, it can easily be construed as being a different panel entirely (this animation is reused twice more in the episode). The panel loses most of its blinking lights in every subsequent appearance.
*Don't blink or you'll miss Giga's mouth move to the bottom of his chin during his Godmaster explanation.
*When Cab confronts the three Decepticon Headmaster Juniors, the shot of him towering over them in his robot mode has the tires on his torso colored red instead of the usual (and sensical) black.
*During the Decepticon retreat, as the camera pans over to Minerva tending to the injured boy, Shūta and Cab appear out of thin air.

Continuity notes
Trivia
*Following the core cast so far being well-established, this episode introduces the new villain pair of Giga and Mega, who take up the reins as primary antagonists from here on. This is played up as a bit of a twist; not only was it only barely alluded to so far that the Decepticon Pretenders even have anyone above them period, after some build-up it turns out they're a pair of (apparent) humans the trio haven't just recruited, but show reluctant deference toward. What the power dynamic here exactly is goes unexplained for now, leaving a bit of a mystery for first-time viewers.
*There is no damn reason for the Godmasters to retreat at the end of this episode. They've got the upper hand, and they're not injured at all—they could quite easily fight on, but they just suddenly decide to stop fighting because Phoenix and Diver show up! It's like the writer just realised that the episode had to end in a minute's time, and just... stopped.

Notes
Continuity notes
* This episode features the debut of both Hydra and Buster, as well as Giga and Mega.

Transformers references
*Chōkon Power is mentioned in this episode for the first time since the concept was introduced in "Go, Goshooter - Showdown in the Wasteland." Here, it goes by the name "Ten-Chi-Jin Power"—the two terms will be used alternately throughout the series.

Real-world references
*Diver is reading The Currents of Spade, by "Izaac Esimov".

Trivia
*Following the core cast so far being well-established, this episode introduces the new villain pair of Giga and Mega. This is played up as a bit of a twist; not only was it only barely alluded to so far that the Decepticon Pretenders even have anyone above them period, after some build-up it turns out they're a pair of humans the trio haven't just recruited, but show reluctant deference toward.
It's like the writer just realised that the episode had to end in a minute's time, and just... stopped.
Notes
Continuity notes
* This episode features the debut of both Hydra and Buster, as well as Giga and Mega.

This is played up as a bit of a twist; not only was it only barely alluded to so far that the Decepticon Pretenders even have anyone above them, after some build-up it turns out they're a pair of humans the trio haven't just recruited, but show reluctant deference toward.
It's like the writer just realised that the episode had to end in a minute's time, and just... stopped.
The Trainbots take center stage when six shadowy figures attack countries all across the world.

Synopsis
The Trainbots have brought Daniel and Wheelie on a trip to their birthplace of Japan, but the fun is brought to a crashing halt when a video transmission cuts into a large-screen television on the side of a building, displaying a shadowy robotic figure who demands the entirety of Japan's energy, or he will destroy the country. Unable to identify the mystery mech, Ultra Magnus contacts Athenia, and Rodimus Prime and the Autobot Headmasters depart for Earth.

On Chaar, Cyclonus and Scourge are incensed that anyone other than the Decepticons would dare to steal Earth's energy, and vow to steal it from the unknown robot, despite a strange lack of interest in their plan from Galvatron and the Decepticon Headmasters. Heading to Earth, they receive no more help from a relaxing Sixshot.

Back on Earth, the Autobots have discovered that, in addition to Japan, five other countries have been threatened by shadowy beings—the United States by a giant gun, the USSR by a tank, Great Britain by a winged wolf, France by a jet and Canada by an armored car. The Trainbots, however, are not worried, convinced that their six-strong team can handle the six blackmailers, but their relaxation is interrupted by the discovery of Ratbat, spying on the group. Ratbat escapes and returns to Soundblaster, who reports back to the Decepticon base that the Autobot Headmasters have come to Earth. Cyclonus and Scourge, however, are more concerned with the revelation that there are six enemies to fight, even if Sixshot is not.

In London, the winged wolf shows itself, and the Headmasters and Metroplex head out, only to arrive too late. While they are there, however, New York is attacked by the giant gun, and both the Autobots and Cyclonus and Scourge are unable to get there in time to stop it. As Rodimus speculates that the blackmailers will hit Japan next, Daniel and the Trainbots enter—the brash young Headmasters are disgusted that they have been shopping in Tokyo while everyone else has been worried about the blackmailers. The Trainbots profess to have been patrolling Japan while Daniel went shopping, but an argument ensues, and when Daniel tries to intervene, Chromedome silences the boy, causing him to run from the room. Chromedome follows, seeking to make amends, and discovers Daniel playing with a toy ninja star that he purchased. Intrigued, Chromedome learns from Daniel of Earth's stories of ninjas, and their ability to appear in many places at once, and the stories stir up the memory of the time an energy-stealing ninja able to duplicate himself and transform into six shapes visited planet Master and killed his friend Abel. Realising that the ninja is definitely their blackmailer, Chromedome vows revenge.

Tokyo soon comes under attack from the robotic villain, and the Trainbots plead to be allowed to defend their homeland. Rodimus allows it, and the team heads for Earth, merging into their combined form of Raiden to thrash the blackmailer. The fight takes a new twist, however, when Cyclonus and Scourge arrive with Trypticon, and the Headmasters rush to the Trainbots' aid, fending off Trypticon while Raiden deals with the blackmailer's various forms. Transforming into jet mode, the villain flees, but is pursued by both the Autobots and Cyclonus and Scourge, and when he is finally brought down, his identity is finally revealed—Sixshot! Duplicating and transforming to wolf mode, Sixshot savages Raiden, but the Headmasters, seeking to avenge Abel, beat him down and send him retreating.

Back on Chaar, an enraged Galvatron—in on the plan the whole time—pummels Cyclonus and Scourge for their incompetence, while on Earth, the Headmasters and Trainbots reconcile, and all is well.
Notes
Continuity notes
* For Transformers fans who already own his toy or otherwise know Sixshot's deal, it's really quite easy to forget the fact that this is the first time he has displayed his six-changing abilities in the series (indeed, it is the first time he has transformed at all, aside from the commercial bumper), hence the confusion of all the other characters. It also does not help the story that you can tell it's blatantly him from the second his robot-mode silhouette appears.
* In addition to debuting Sixshot's transformations, it also introduces his assorted ninja-related powers, including the ability to create numerous solid-light duplicates of himself (and, apparently, the ability to remain entirely cloaked in shadow, even in the middle of a shade-free, sun-baked desert). He'll be making good use of this power, and more, later in the series.
* The Trainbots merge into Raiden for the first time in this episode, but this is treated with shockingly little dramatic flourish, especially for Japan—in fact, absolutely nothing special is made of this first combination at all. Perhaps it's because we've been seeing them do it in the opening credits for eight episodes already, completely stifling any sense of surprise about the whole thing.
* Along with "Thief in the Night", this is another episode which proves that the Soviet Union's 1991 collapse didn't occur in the animated series continuity. It's almost like it was produced before that happened, or something!
* Wheelie once again wields the seldom-used slingshot that he used against Grimlock in The Transformers: The Movie.
* Following on from the events of "Cosmic Rust", the Statue of Liberty is no longer a green patina thanks to the—apparently—long-lasting effects of Perceptor's corrostop solution applied in 1985. However, unlike "Cosmic Rust", the Statue of Liberty is depicted in its correct brown-ish non-patina copper color, instead of the silver color depicted in the initial episode.

Transformers references
* When Daniel drops the box, several figures that could be Transformers figures fall out. BUT they show a surprising amount of articulation for toys during the time the show was made. Looks like they correctly guessed that Transformers figures would be more articulated by 2011!

Real-world references
* The Decepticon Headmasters are playing Poker when Cyclonus and Scourge go to bug them.
* Chromedome presents information back to Rodimus on a VHS tape. So futuristic!

Animation and technical errors
* When Sixshot attacks Tokyo in robot mode in the final stages of the episode, rather than being entirely shrouded in shadow, as he has been up to this point, he is in full colour. Although it was always astonishingly obvious that he was Sixshot just based on his silhouette, this must surely be a mistake, as the shocked reaction to his true identity does not come until he is blasted from the sky some minutes later.

* London is depicted as a fog-shrouded forest that people ride through on horseback. For God's sake.
* Ultra Magnus is sporting his all-white antennae again in this episode.
* During the flashback, the mysteriously shadowed Sixshot is using Twincast's weapon, which is also mysteriously shadowed.
* When New York City was last seen in "Only Human", it had tons of ridiculously goofy "futuristic" buildings about it, so tall they dwarfed even the World Trade Center. These buildings are nowhere to be found in this episode, and New York appears as it did in the '80s.
* When Sixshot attacks Tokyo, he's as big as a combiner, then later appears at normal size.
* Cyclonus and Scourge fail to make the transformation noise when they transform to retreat.

Trivia
* This episode originally aired in a double-bill with "Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 1" on September 4.
* What appears to be part of the Ark can be seen in an outside shot of Autobot City, although the ship was destroyed much earlier in "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5".
* Apparently stores are perfectly happy to sell toy ninja stars to a little boy with no parental escort and accompanied only by an annoying orange alien. This was aired in the '80s, though.
* From what the episode shows, Galvatron's plan seems to boil down to having Six Shot pretend to be a third party, threaten and attack a bunch of nations by himself (things the Decepticons do as a group all the time as is) - and that's it. Maybe it made more sense to him.
::*According to the dialogue script, the shadowy Sixshot is "Saul" and Scattershot is "Garth"... and so are Cyclonus and Scourge, who were named as such in the previous script! (The un-shadowy Sixshot is listed under his own name.) As Cyclonus and Scourge are consistently Saul and Garth in the script otherwise, these identifications were presumably in error.
