Cobra Commander's son seeks vengeance on the man who tried to claim his father's life.

Synopsis
Cobra Commander was not always a snake-themed terrorist mastermind—once, he was a man, with a wife and child whom he left behind. His son, Billy, is raised with knowledge of what his father has become, leading to fights with other children who refuse to believe his father is the famous terrorist. Upon reaching manhood, Billy sets out to find his father, and while contemplating whether Cobra or G.I. Joe is the better lead to chase, he is approached by the Blind Master with the offer of a "third path". Trained in the ninja arts by the old master, Billy infiltrates both the Joe and Cobra ranks and learns from the Serpentress that Snake Eyes wounded his father and left him in a vegetative state before disappearing through the M.A.S.S. Device. Billy seeks more information on the Joe ninja from Jinx, who tells him that Snake Eyes allegedly defected from G.I. Joe to join up with Cobra. Traversing the space between worlds, Billy finds Snake Eyes on Cybertron, and engages him in a swordfight, on motorcycles, atop Scorponok's claws. Snake Eyes emerges the definitive victor, chopping off Billy's right arm and leg, but Megatron recovers the boy and provides him cybernetic replacement limbs.
*Cobra Commander's son Billy was a notable supporting character in the original Marvel G.I. Joe series. There, he received his ninja training from Storm Shadow, and also lost his left leg and gained a cybernetic replacement.
*Cobra Commander reveals his past by informing the reader: "I was once a man." This infamous quote comes from G.I. ===Real-life references===
*The above synopsis probably sounds very straightforward, but this whole strip is done in the form of a "Sunday Comics" newspaper page, with each step on Billy's journey represented as a discreet, short, comic strip. Specific famous comic strips parodied include:
**Dennis the Menace (U.S. comics), parodied as "Billy the Brat", in which Billy fights with a friend. **The Family Circus, its distinctive single-circular-panel shape giving the parody the title of "Circle of Life", in which Billy is approached by the Blind Master.
**Spy vs. Spy, parodied as "Ninja vs. Ninja", with Billy and Snake Eyes's white and black outfits filling in nicely for the spies of the original.
**Dick Tracy, parodied as "Rogue's Gallery" (in which Billy meets the Serpentress). Old enemies and mysterious new allies await as the Guardians and their human companions navigate the ruins of the Earth that was.

Synopsis
Having breached the ruins of Earth at the center of Gobotron, the four human astronauts now wander through the ruins of New York City, surveying what the passage of time has done to their home. Baffled by how so much could have changed in so little time, it's Turbo who reminds them of the fact that their Go-Bot companion Spay-C holds all the answers. At Turbo's insistence, Spay-C tells them the full story: though he was initially pleased by the Go-Bot revolution taking place on Earth, the war quickly turned ugly, and to protect his cryogenically-frozen human partners Spay-C opted not to return to Earth for years until it seemed safe. When Charlotte wonders if they're the last surviving humans, Turbo points them to a nearby valley—now home to a small colony of feral, cavemen-like humans. He and Scooter are the beloved protectors of what remains of humanity; not far away however, Leader-1 and his team take a break from their search for the Lazer Lance as Cy-Kill's Thruster arrives above the ruined city, and Water Walk and Warpath swoop out of the spaceship to capture a gaggle of humans. Turbo hops aboard Spay-C to take to the air, and while Turbo battles Water Walk he urges Spay-C to go after Warpath and his prisoners. Spay-C is downed by a laser blast and unable to prevent them from getting away; Turbo is proud, however, noting that Spay-C did his best to defend humanity. The moment is short-lived, however, as the mighty Zod leaps out of the Thruster, the impact of his landing sending shockwaves across New York and knocking Leader-1 unconscious.

In another vision, Leader-1 is visited by the "Go-Bot god" Courageous, who tells Leader-1 that one day soon the Go-Bots will achieve "communal consciousness". As he awakes, Leader-1 informs his men that he finally knows the way to the Lazer Lance, and sets out to retrieve it. The Guardians only go a short way before they stumble across Scooter, Turbo, and the unconscious Spay-C. Turbo is naturally skeptical of Leader-1 and his intentions, but Leader-1 reminds him that they have a bigger problem in the form of Zod. When Leader-1 draws a pictogram on the ground, Scooter excitedly babbles that he knows the location of the lance—unaware that, not far away, Cy-Kill has just received Warpath's haul of humans, accompanied by two of the astronauts. The journey across ancient Earth takes the Guardians into mountainous uplands, and while Royal-T remains unmoved by this quest, Leader-1 has faith in his vision. The debate is cut short when the heroes are ambushed by a group of monstrous living rocks—only to be saved by another group of transforming minerals. Their rescuers introduce themselves as the "Go-lems", monastic warriors who seek to attain oneness with the Earth itself. Their leader Boulder warns them that, while the Laser Lance lies within the massive skull-shaped mountain, it is a bad place to be avoided.

Inside the mountain, the Guardians are greeted by the sight of dozens of Vamp Go-Bots including one that holds the mangled but still-living remains of Braxis. Turbo points out that Braxis intended to kill Scooter's best friend A.J., who grew into an accomplished freedom fighter as the war between humans and Go-Bots tipped in favor of the machines. Turbo accuses Leader-1 as having abetted her death; by ordering Scooter to kill her, the grief drove him mad. Leader-1 defends himself, pointing out that he could've reprogrammed himself like Scooter to relieve himself of the memories and that the story Turbo heard is not exactly what happened. Before Leader-1 can tell him his version of events the group are beset by the Vamps.

Elsewhere, Cy-Kill and his forces roll across the wastelands until they stumble across the deactivated body of Spay-C. Cy-Kill follows the tracks of the Guardians, while Lee and Venyamin take their chance to escape from Renegade captivity, sneaking into Spay-C to reboot him from the inside. From within Turbo, Charlotte is pleased to see that their friends are alright as the Guardians flee from the Vamps as Scooter transforms and tumbles into a deeper cavern, were he discovers the "big red stick" he's seen in his dreams, held by a massive statue of Courageous. Leader-1 follows suit and grabs the Lazer Lance; the Vamps begin to flee as the Courageous statue separates into separate pieces of armor. Leader-1 wonders if the Vamps fear the lance, but Turbo points out the more obvious culprit: Zod is here. As the Guardians suit up, a lance-wielding Leader-1 sallies forth to battle Zod once and for all; he's reckoned without the arrival of the Renegades, however, and Cy-Kill uses his speedy bike mode to drive by, snatch the weapon out of his enemy's hands, and contemptuously snap it over his knee. The Renegade leader outlines his terms of surrender as Turbo and Crasher trade barbs but Cy-Kill is quickly cut short when a massive boulder bowls into him. The boulder reveals himself as the leader of the Rock Lords, and using their powers over earth the assembled warriors are able to open a massive fissure, sending Zod and most of the Renegades plunging into the chasm. Cy-Kill is left hanging by a finger as Cop-Tur decides to take command; the copterbot is quickly dispatched by Leader-1, however, and in the aftermath Leader-1 issues an ultimatum: he will take what remains of the Lazer Lance into the depths of Earth in the hopes that the shattered weapon will still be enough to kill Zod. All he requests are followers, and he's joined by Spay-C, Turbo, Scooter, the humans, and even the Renegade Screw Head.

The Guardians head deeper into the Earth, and finally come across Zod in a cavern. The battle is brief, but decisive, and when the monster bites down on Turbo and Scooter, the wounded Leader-1 is able to redirect Zod's momentum to send him hurtling over a cliff; as Zod plummets to his doom, the three Guardians reassemble the lance, spearing him in the eye and allowing gravity to do the rest as Zod lands, blowing him to bits. With Zod vanquished, Screw Head drills a tunnel back up for the triumphant Go-Bots as their Command Center arrives to take them back up to the surface of Gobotron. But it's a trick — the Command Center has been hijacked by Cy-Kill and his Renegades, who open fire on their enemies before engaging a tractor beam to abduct Scooter. The other Guardians cluster around Leader-1's mortally wounded body, with Rest-Q grimly pointing out that there's nothing they can do now. Turbo announces that he's going after Cy-Kill, while the humans and Spay-C agree to do the same. As the Guardians pack Leader-1's body into the center of Courageous, Leader-1's spirit—now resembling the dark angel Eno—watches from afar, as a vision of his long-dead human partner Nick Burns beckons him home.
Notes
Continuity notes
* In his vision of Courageous, Leader-1 is wearing the rebreather-like mouthplate that he originally wore in issue #1. The Scioli series reimagines the previously non-sentient Power Warrior Courageous as a deity.
* Likewise, A.J., last seen in issue #2, is revealed to have survived the early days of the Go-Bot revolution, becoming a successful resistance leader.
* Screw Head's comment about knowing the "dark places" underground may be a reference to issue #2, which established that he used to work with a mining company before the revolution.
* "Eno" was last glimpsed in the prior issue; this issue ends with him receiving a vision of Leader-1's old partner Nick Burns talking backwards and thus translating "One" (presumably, as in, "Leader-1") to "Eno."

Go-Bots references
<!--Still very, very, very much feel these are covered by Wikilinks. Again it has to be all or nothing.
* Courageous was one of the big centerpiece toys from the original GoBots line, a combining team of "power suits" that could accommodate smaller GoBot toys. The Scioli series reimagines the character as a deity. Each individual powerssuit possessed their own ability; this isn't touched on in the comic, though Blaster does note that the armor he dons makes him feel smarter and stronger, and two of the powers from the original toyline were enhanced strength and telepathy.
* Likewise, the skull-shaped mountain that contains the Lazer Lance is based off the unreleased Stonehead Fortress toy; intended to be the centerpiece of Tonka's spinoff Rock Lords line, the playset was shelved indefinitely, but not before putting in an appearance in Battle of the Rock Lords.
* Though he doesn't appear in the issue, Boulder namedrops Magmar as the 'bot responsible for hiding the Lazer Lance; leader of the evil Rock Lords, Magmar was notable for teaming up with Cy-Kill in the Rock Lords movie.-->
* After two issues of appearing in her original red, white, and blue colour scheme, Crasher has adopted a new paint job based off the second version of her toy. <!--Her flirty-slash-psychopathic banter with Turbo is lifted wholesale from the Challenge of the GoBots cartoon, where Crasher had a borderline-romantic obsession with Turbo that was as unhealthy as it was inexplicable. If anyone finds anything flirty or romantic about Turbo and Crasher in the cartoon feel free to provide a source-->
* Boulder describes the state of existence he and his people occupy as the "Quartex"; in the cartoon, this was the home planet of the Rock Lords, with 2015's Renegade Rhetoric feature going into more detail about its history.

Real-world references
* Scioli's cover is a homage to the first page of Daredevil: The Man Without Fear #5 drawn by John Romita Jr. and Al Williamson, with Turbo in the same pose as Matt Murdock.
* Continuing the Planet of the Apes sendup from last issue, this issue's depiction of future humanity as cavemen-like savages—and their being chased and rounded up for sport by the Renegades—is distinctly Apes-esque.
* Boulder refers to the Rock Lords as "Go-lems," a double pun that keeps the "Go-" theme intact while also referencing the Golem, an inorganic creature from Jewish folklore.
* Boulder describes himself and his kind as the "rolling stones that gather no moss," referencing both the A rolling stone gathers no moss as well as the The Rolling Stones.
* Braxis' appearance-specifically his face-is based on the demonic form of Anton Arcane, enemy of DC Comics character Swamp Thing.

Old ways die, new leaders arise, and the shocking destiny of the Go-Bots is revealed.

Synopsis
The chase is on over Earth, as Turbo gets a lift from Spay-C's shuttle mode to pursue Cy-Kill, his Renegades, and their captive Scooter in their stolen Command Center. The determined Go-Bot is able to punch his way into the vessel, and deals with Cy-Kill's retinue one after the next: dousing Fitor with volatile liquigen fuel, downing Tank in the ship's cafeteria, overpowering Loco and hurling him into the Disintegration Chamber, where his body disappears in a flash of light. Meanwhile on the ship's bridge Cy-Kill seeks to understand the full scope of Leader-1's duplicity; having gained access to the Enemy Re-programming Center, the Renegade leader has come to understand that nothing on Gobotron is as it seems: all Go-Bots, including himself, have had their minds wiped and reset, their bodies disintegrated and regenerated —all to preserve Leader-1' s despotic rule over Gobotron. Not far away, Turbo and two of the human astronauts are conducting their own investigation of the re-programming center, and Turbo is briefly struck by a flash of memory, of Scooter's own traumatic experience. Curiosity overrides his better urges, and despite himself Turbo calls up the files to learn the truth of what happened that fateful day... and learns, much to his horror, that Scooter had consented to the process due to his traumatic memories, and it was Turbo, unaware of this, who yanked him out of the machine early and damaged his friend's mind. Seeking to plumb the full depths of the truth about their civilization, an impatient Cy-Kill is more than ready to start testing the reprogramming center on his captives, both human and Go-Bot. Their worries are cut short when an enraged, vengeful Turbo crashes through the doors and opens fire on the group, his shots taking the rest of Cy-Kill's inner cadre out of action and sending Crasher fleeing.

Having escaped the depredations of Leader-1 long ago, Turbo is one of the few Go-Bots not to have had his mind erased, and though Cy-Kill tries to assure his foe that he will be a better leader for Gobotron. Turbo warns him that the only way their civilization can go forward is if Cy-Kill shuts down the Command Centers, the memory wipes, the myriad deceptions and lies of Leader-1. But then Turbo spies Cy-Kill's human prisoners on the testing slab and a struggle breaks out, and Turbo finally puts Cy-Kill down by shooting him through the eyes, destroying his head. In his last moments, Cy-Kill flashes back to the moment of his creation, which set him on the path he followed for the rest of his life: his creator telling him that his function was to be a motorcycle for his fellow Go-Bot servants to ride. The threat vanquished for the moment, Turbo springs Scooter from prison, and the two dodge their way past laser grids and other defense measures to take control of the Command Center—only for Crasher to bar their way. But Turbo is done with fighting, and simply tells the Renegade warrior that he just wants to go home. The war is over, and what to either of them stand to gain by carrying on the old hatreds that their leaders perpetrated? Crasher gratefully accepts, and the two of them fly the Command Center and the Thruster back to the surface of Earth, to rendezvous with the other Guardians.

As they disembark, Turbo announces that it's time to rebuild their society and forge a new world that's truly their own, not the simple imitation of old Earth culture that Leader-1 clung to. Turbo invites the four human astronauts to stay on Gobotron, should they choose to abandon the ruins of Earth, but Leader-1's old right hand 'bot Major Domo reveals that there's another way home: the so-called "Disintegration Chamber" is, in fact, a time tunnel capable of sending Spay-C and his crew back to their own time period. Two of the astronauts choose not to make the trip; rather, they will stay on Earth in the hopes of teaching the primitive humans to rebuild civilization. As the rest of the Go-Bots board their respective ships and take off, Turbo looks back over his shoulder to see the two astronauts spelling out the message "GOODBYE GO-BOTS."

The crew return to Gobotron to find that the planet has changed greatly during their voyage, noting that the planet's roads and buildings have been ripped to shreds. It doesn't take long before the culprit reveal themselves: none other than a horde of Vamps, who quickly swarm over the Command Center and send it crashing to the ground. Their gloating leader, Professor Braxis, effuses at his triumph only to be felled from behind by the mighty Road Ranger, who contemptuously cleaves the mad doctor in half before turning his fury on the army of Vamps. With them gone Road Ranger reveals that he's had help from "the forgotten:" those young new Go-Bots who have never known Earth, and also the towering forms of Bug Bite, Baron Von Joy, Destroyer, Zeemon, and Staks, mighty titans larger than any other Go-Bot. Road Ranger reveals that his convoy are marching towards Gobotropolis, capital of Gobotron, so that he can claim the crown and inherit control of the planet, and invites the stragglers to join him on this quest. The Go-Bots immediately takes a liking to this new leader, and even Turbo can only admit that the next generation is taking over: a statement made all the clearer as Road Ranger orders his Go-Bots to "transform and roll out!"

That evening, Turbo says his goodbyes to Spay-C and his two crewmates, who have opted to make the trip back in time. Turbo, content to let Road Ranger take the wheel for a change, chooses to shut down for a time... and as he drifts off, he dreams of his old friends Matt Hunter and A.J. Foster. Flanked by the other Go-Bots, Spay-C and his human friends approach the time tunnel, and after double-checking their coordinates the trio vanish in a flash of light. Path Finder wonders what will become of the three heroes, and Small Foot responds that they'll never find out; even if their actions somehow prevent this current timeline from coming to pass, the people of Gobotron will have no way of knowing. Unbeknownst to all, Loco has peacefully settled into life in the Wild West, posing as an ordinary steam locomotive. In Gobotropolis, Road Ranger, now the new leader of Gobotron and its people, is inaugurated before a cheering crowd. He denounces everything that Leader-1 held dear, including his irrational attachment to the organic world that birthed him and their kind. Road Ranger decides that it is time for the Go-Bots to embrace their potential as a species and find their true place in the cosmic order. So it is, on Road Ranger's command, that Gobotron itself transforms for the first and last time; as the barricaded shell around Earth unlocks, the metal planet hurtles into deep space, leaving Earth and its people behind. Below, humans and Rock Lords watch the retreating shape of Gobotron before turning to focus on their own destiny. Setting sail from the "Valley of the Rock Lords", the humans set about rebuilding civilization one step at a time, under the watchful eye of those Go-Bots like Dive-Dive who have chosen to stay on Earth, now protectors of humanity. One such guardian comes to their rescue while exploring the ruins of a distant acropolis; beset by the monstrous Magmar, the malevolent Rock Lord is himself defeated by Screw Head, who pledges to assist humanity as they rebuild.

As Gobotron flies through interstellar space, Road Ranger outlines his plans for the next step of their evolution to his consort Bug Bite. The dawn of their new era will coincide with the mass production of new Go-Bots and Gobotrons, seeding the multiverse with new mechanical worlds and robotic lifeforms. Road Ranger has already begun on the first of these new Go-Bots, an "heir" that is a faster, stronger version of himself, a mechanical "son" that Road Ranger regards as an "optimized" version of himself. Road Ranger recommends that Bug Bite do the same, but when the yellow Volkswagen inquires as to the fates of Cy-Kill and Leader-1, and whether or not they too will be regenerated, Road Ranger declines; the two have proven to be far more trouble than they're worth. Instead, their parts will be combined into a single new Go-Bot, one that will hopefully embody the best traits of both leaders. As the new robot—a red, white, and blue F-15 jet—takes shape, Road Ranger hopes that this experiment will turn out for the best.

And, in the present day, Spay-C and the two humans have returned to their own time period, in the last days before the original Go-Bot uprising that spelled doom for humanity. But although they're armed with the knowledge of the dark timeline that will come to pass, their mission to change the past isn't so successful; their superiors are unwilling to listen, arrogantly convinced that renegade Go-Bots can be easily rounded up and decommissioned--just as an alert comes through warning that the Go-Bot motorbike Cy-Kill has recently gone rogue. Astronaut Charlotte Scott's mention of "Gobotron" piques her commander's interest, however, as he knows "Gobotron" as a simple autonomous space station run by the Go-Bots. Charlotte warns him that if humanity is to survive, they need to shut it all down before the Go-Bots rise up...

...The End?
"Once so haughty... now an utter buffoon. You don't even know what I'm talking about, do you?"
:—Cy-Kill to Scooter

"The freaks shall inherit the Earth."
:—Braxis

"Who are you?" <br> "My name is Screw Head."<br>
"It suits you!"<br>
"I'm a rock man's worst nightmare!"
:—Magmar versus Screw Head

Notes
Continuity notes
* Thanks to some nifty time-travel shenanigans, the final page is set right before Cy-Kill's debut in issue #1, with a cellphone alert notifying the public that he has just gone rogue.
* It's probably not a coincidence that Tic Toc, who transforms into a watch, puts in an appearance as Spay-C activates the time tunnel.

Transformers references
* Okay, so... the big narliphant in the room is, of course, the reveal that the Go-Bots of this universe are suggested to be the creators of Cybertron, the Cybertronians, and, presumably, all of the many other mechanical lifeforms who populate the Transformers multiverse. There's some wiggle room here, as it's never specifically said outright, but Road Ranger (who rallies his troops with a cry of "Transform and roll out!") alludes to his next creation being an "optimized" version of himself in a clear nod to Optimus Prime, Bug Bite (who is depicted with a very Bumblebee-like head that doesn't appear on his toy) considers a similar course of action, and Leader-1 and Cy-Kill's remains come together to create a distinctly colored jet-bot that's unmistakably a proto-Starscream. Now, this does have some precedence in Tom Scioli's other major piece of Transformers fiction; issue #10 of Transformers vs. G.I. Joe alluded to a living planet known as "Daiakuron", which had supposedly seeded the galaxy with many transforming planets in the early days of the universe—and art in that issue depicts Daiakuron with a loose resemblance to Gobotron's own bifurcated appearance. All of this certainly does seem to tie in to Road Ranger's intent to populate the multiverse with "Gobotrons, each with their own name..." though Transformers vs. G.I. Joe would also postulate that the Makers who supposedly created Daiakuron would, themselves, eventually evolve into the higher-dimensional Quintessons, so... it's all a little up in the air, is what we're saying.
* Quite how combining the best parts of a fascist despot and blood-crazed wannabe fascist despot results in Starscream is unclear and probably best not thought about.

Real-world references
* Scioli's cover is a homage to Daredevil Vol. 1 #164's cover by Frank Miller and Wally Wood.
* Page 17 quotes a line from the Book of Genesis: "There were giants in the earth in those days."
* The series closes out with a paraphrased line from the Stanley Kubrick film Barry Lyndon: "It was in the reign of George III that the aforesaid personages lived and quarrelled; good or bad, handsome or ugly, rich or poor, they are all equal now."

Other trivia
* According to the Diamond Sales charts, 4,363 copies of the issue were shipped to stores, the 253rd highest of the month.
*Primax 984.20 Gamma is the universal stream designation corresponding to the UK portion of the Marvel Comics continuity, taking its specifications from the UK publishing date of the first issue.
*Although it appears at first that Primax 984.20 would be, within Marvel Comics parlance, Earth-120185, the Marvel designation is used to describe the Earth that Death's Head was on at the time he first learned of Rodimus Prime's bounty on Galvatron. In light of this, it's more likely that Earth-120185 is actually Primax 986.13 Gamma instead.
