Although scale has never exactly been a deep concern when it comes to Transformers, given that the series has featured F-15 jets not much larger than sports cars, it is not uncommon for certain Transformers to clearly and deliberately change size when transforming from one mode to the next. The methods employed for this startling alteration in physicality have differed from timeline to timeline, and have long been a heavily debated aspect of Cybertronian technology.

Examples
Note that many of the Transformers named here have also transformed at certain times without shrinking or enlarging, retaining an alternate mode to scale with their robot mode. It doesn't help mass-shifting logic though. If anything it only results in more questions.

Shrinking
The most famous examples of size-changing Transformers are Megatron, who becomes a pistol, and Soundwave and Blaster, who both become stereo cassette players. These Transformers visibly shrink as they transform, assuming one of two sizes—one that allows another Transformer to wield or operate them, and another, even smaller size scaled to humans.

Other shrinking Transformers include Perceptor, the Mini-Cassettes, the three mechs who make up Reflector, and in some continuities, the Insecticons. Reflector could be considered one of the worst, since that's three Transformers slightly over human-size combining into one form that's small enough for other robots - or humans - to take photographs with.

Overkill's Transformers Universe bio notes that he has a defect in his transformation circuitry, which often results in him not being able to complete his transformation by not growing back to his robot mode's full size.

One of Deep Cover's abilities is being able to shrink to 1/40th his size for brief periods of time.

Shrinking into altmode is a property also shared by Animated Prowl and Prime Arcee. They both transform from motorcycles, which are about the size of a human, into full-sized Autobot warriors. In Prowl's case, he grows to be taller than Bumblebee, who's a car, although he is much slimmer. Cybertron Signal Lancer is another fine example, since Signal Lancer transforms from a normal-size traffic light into a robot big enough to wield the light-pole as a lance.

Animated Shockwave was deployed undercover within the Autobot ranks by Megatron specifically due to his stated size-changing abilities, allowing him to adopt a smaller Autobot-sized form in the guise of Longarm.

The War for Cybertron video game and its sequel mostly avoided this with most of the cast using animation models that stayed the same size. One exception occurred in the original game, a very blatant one, with Trypticon. While his robot mode is undeniably huge, his alt mode, an orbital space station converted into a gun, was big enough to have an entire level set in it. Another case occurred in the sequel's multiplayer with a Titan using the Beast body type, where going into the character's alt mode has them shrinking down while transforming so by the end they're still the same size as in robot mode. This was an obvious choice made for balancing, since doubling in size like Grimlock does in the campaign mode would make the Titan too big a target.

Enlarging
Conversely, Transformers have been known to grow in size when assuming their alternate modes—the most prominent example is surely Astrotrain, whose space shuttle mode could become large enough to convey a whole contingent of Decepticon warriors, and even allow Devastator to form inside him without even bumping his head. Similarly, Broadside transforms from a robot of roughly average size (occasionally depicted as somewhat tall, but never huge) into a jet and then into an entire aircraft carrier, of the type used to transport dozens of jets. Ratchet is another good example, who has been able to transport whole Autobots in the back of his ambulance form during the cartoon, even Powerglide, who turns into a jet. Other Transformers that enlarge in such a manner also generally do so for the purposes of transporting others; they include Omega Supreme, Skyfire, Cosmos, and Grand Maximus.

Combiners are often larger in their combined form than their robot modes would otherwise indicate—in fact, in the episode "Chaos," Predaking is explicitly shown to enlarge after his combination is complete. In the IDW continuity, the Constructicons (and Prowl) are explicitly shown to change size whenever they form Devastator. Arcee mentions that not even Prowl's brain can grow large enough to fully accommodate Devastator's brain-to-body-mass ratio.

In the original animated series many of the Transformers arguably enlarged or shrank in vehicle mode to a lesser extent, this is most notable among groups such as the Decepticon jets and minibots, whose altmodes could not possibly turn into robots that are the size they are depicted otherwise. Whether this was truly intended to indicate actual size changes, was merely "lazy animation", or was simply a stylistic choice designed to emphasize the awesome stature of robot mode Cybertronians, is a matter of individual opinion.

While later continuities tried to tone this down, it was still present with instances like Arcee seen above, and Slug, who goes from a Infiltrator-sized character to the size of an Insecticon bruiser, and is clearly seen growing bigger after he transforms. Particularly notable is the Aligned incarnation of Predaking, whose horns alone in dragon form are taller than most Transformers, but who "only" stands head-and-shoulders above Megatron in robot mode.

Magnificus has a matter-enlarging scope, which he used to make Ga'mede fit in in the macroverse.

Another similar thing happened with Optimus Prime when transforming from his Marmon 97 and back in the Age of Extinction film because it is needed to be tall enough due to transforming into a small truck.

Implicit size changing
Transformers that act as transport for other Transformers often implicitly change size to do so. However, size changing is rarely explicitly depicted in these cases. Instead, the following method is used: A character such as Astrotrain transforms in-frame from robot to shuttle with no visible expansion of size relative to his surroundings. Cut. In the following shot his fellow Decepticons are shown running into frame, suddenly relatively tiny in stature so that they can board the shuttle. Although Astrotrain has not been shown to actually grow, one has to infer that this is more likely than that all his confederates have individually shrunk.

The same change-in-scale-via-implicit-size-changing is used with Omega Supreme and other characters used as transport. For example, in the episode "Make Tracks", Hoist, who is depicted as one of the larger Autobots in robot mode, is shown riding inside Huffer, a Minibot whose truck mode is usually depicted as being smaller than Optimus Prime's. So either Huffer is extremely large in that scene, or Hoist is suddenly the size of a human. Likewise, an injured Ironhide has been shown being loaded into Ratchet's rear medical bay, despite both having the exact same vehicle mode.

(The other explanation is that the animators simply hoped no one would notice the sudden change in scale. Since Transformers is usually targeted at kids, there's probably some truth to this.)

The Cybertron cartoon had two entirely different scale charts made as a reference for the animators to work from; one for robot mode scale and the other for vehicle mode scale. While the robot mode scale was mostly based on the toys (aside from a few exceptions), the vehicle modes were based on a more realistic scale. This resulted in the Giant Planet Mini-Cons turning into larger vehicles that scaled with their fellow Autobots, unlike the Mini-Cons of Armada and Energon who remained miniscule in either mode. Smaller characters like Scattorshot, who transformed into an armored missile truck, would often transform into vehicles larger than taller characters like Hot Shot, who transformed into a car. Any character transforming into an aircraft (e.g. Jetfire and Thundercracker) would grow to an enormous size in order to accurately scale with their fellow team members, who would usually be rescaled based on Optimus Prime—or the next largest character's vehicle mode; with everyone else nearby following the largest robot's robot mode scale. Unfortunately, the results of these two different scales would often lead to over and undersized characters before and after transformation.

Most Transformers in the Prime cartoon employ some visible mass-displacement when transforming into their alternate modes, compressing their robot-mode mass into their vehicle mode forms. This is most visible with Arcee, whose vehicle mode is roughly half the size of her robot form, and Predaking, who is noted to be liable to tear the Decepticon's ship apart in beast mode, but is small enough to easily roam the halls in robot mode.

Pretenders
Although the original American cartoon was cancelled before the Pretenders were created, the Japanese-only continuity featured them in their series Super-God Masterforce. Here the Pretenders did not have outer shells so much as ill-defined holistic transformations which explicitly involved size-changing, allowing the Autobots to convincingly pass themselves off as humans. Also, Autobot Pretenders' shells are able to perform size changing in the Super-God Masterforce manga. The Decepticons, by comparison, chose to retain their gigantic proportions when in Pretender mode.

Although never depicted in any of their actual fiction, Dreamwave's More Than Meets The Eye encyclopedia stated that Pretender shells use shrinking technology to achieve the Masterforce-like capacity to pass the wearer off as a real human (or other small lifeform of choice). (Intriguingly, the profile also obliquely implies that Pretender technology would later lead to the development of the faux-organic beast modes of the Beast Era.)

Explanations
Although size-changing has been evident in Transformers from the very beginning, the original animated series and comic books never address the topic, and it was regarded as simply being the way of things. Fandom debate on the topic has seemingly inspired later fiction to offer varying explanations on how it functions.

Beast Wars II cartoon
Surprisingly, one of the first, if not the very first, attempts of providing an official explanation for an instance of size-changing occurred in the Japanese-original Beast Wars II cartoon.

Upon being upgraded from his smaller, average-sized "Megastorm" form, Gigastorm had become too large to enter the Predacons' ship, the Galvaburg II. In order for him to fit, he would first have to be exposed to an Elemental Particle Control Beam that would shrink his body down to a more accommodating size every time he wished to enter the ship. He would then remain in his scaled-down size inside the ship for seemingly-indefinite periods of time, until returning to his original size whenever he'd be back outside of the ship.

Dreamwave Generation One continuity
Dreamwave offered two explanations for size-changing within its continuity.

The first, to explain enlarging, was parts compression—the notion that the Transformers in question, such as Astrotrain and Broadside, had many dense layers of armor in robot mode, which then slid out, expanding to create a much larger, but less-strongly-armored vehicle mode. Fans have referred to this as the "origami Transformers" explanation, and it appeared in their More Than Meets The Eye encyclopedia.

The second explanation, to justify shrinking, was mass conversion. This method put it that Transformers like Soundwave were genetically endowed with the ability to transform not simply their bodies, but their entire molecular structure. This ability, not under their conscious control, only activates when they transform, shifting their atoms according to a predetermined schematic.

2005 IDW continuity
In the Escalation miniseries sees Megatron employ a mass-displacement sequence, physically discarding a portion of his bodily mass to allow himself to shrink to a human-scaled pistol of appropriate weight and density. What with E equalling mc², the loss of this amount of mass (shunted to an undisclosed location in space and time) results in a volatile energy discharge, requiring bystanders to step away lest they be injured by the forces released—not that Megatron would care.

Due to the energy shortage (and seeming near-total depletion of Transformers' primary fuel source, Energon) caused by their war, mass displacement hasn't been commonplace for a very long time. Since it requires a huge amount of energy, the technology had practically vanished until the discovery of Ore-13 on Earth.

Mass displacement in IDW's original comic book series went unmentioned for several years until Robots in Disguise used it to explain why the Constructicons look much larger when they're forming Devastator and More than Meets the Eye introduced the mass-displacement gun, a weapon capable of shrinking other people, while Megatron would shrink in robot mode - explaining that the spark modifications to enable mass-displacement, once done, could not be undone - as part of saving the living version of the Lost Light. slaughterhouse Part 2: The Road Not Taken.

The Chimeracons, a faction of experimental warrriors created by Mesothulas, used body-frames augmented with obtenteum. This super-fuel gave them the necessary energy required to regularly shift size when converting to and from their beast modes. Sins of the Wreckers issue 3

In an attempt to destroy a Functionist-controlled moon, Rung from an alternate universe was voluntarily mass displaced into the size of a moon, and was killed by this soon afterwards. Dissolution Part 6: This Machine Kills Fascists

2007 Transformers film
The creators of the 2007 live-action movie explicitly avoided including any Transformers who could change size, wishing to avoid the necessary suspension of disbelief. Therefore, any observed scale problems are genuine scale problems. (And there are a few, most notably human-sized Frenzy's head turning into a tiny cell phone. But then again, his head is basically made of shards with a lot of space in between.) That said, size-changing technology clearly exists in some form in the movie continuity, as Bumblebee somehow shrinks the AllSpark down to a manageable size and mass. The Staff of Merlin has also been shown to be capable of changing size in The Last Knight, capable of shrinking and growing to be held by both Cybertronians and humans.

Rescue Bots Academy cartoon
When questioned how Laserbeak was able to turn into a tiny cassette tape, Perceptor explained certain Transformers could use a technique called molecular compression, allowing them to achieve alternate modes much smaller than their robot mode would seemingly permit. More Than Meets The Eye (RBA)

Fandom explanations
The issue of shrinking and enlarging was, in the early days of the online Transformers fandom, a frequently debated subject. The Transformers were clearly displacing their mass, to allow their shrunken forms to be operable—so where was that mass going? The postulated answer to this question was the invention of "subspace", the void of extradimensional space between realities. Subspace proved a handy answer to various other questions as well—see the concept's own article for details. IDW's "mass displacement" rationale essentially is the subspace explanation, without actually using the term.

And hey, if any of that doesn't grab you, a wizard did it.

Note
*When you see a character's size is smaller than usual, well, it's just a technical issue.
In times past, when hope seemed but the whimsical notion of babes, "King of the Dinosaurs" Grimlock sent a message to the stars asking its recipients to fight the noblest of fights with courage and good cheer. A message that resonated across the universe, it became the mantra of a distant Cybertronian colony. Its inhabitants took on dinosaur forms in deference to this valiant king and his message. Unfortunately, the fiendish greed of lawless curs resulted in this world being destroyed, with only four known survivors. These wayward souls followed their tormentors to Cybertron in order to prevent a similar tragedy and avenge their fallen leader Tiny Arms. Now christened the Dinobots, these five fight together to protect the recently brokered Autobot/Decepticon peace from those who would defile it. Megatron is the tyrannical leader of the Decepticons, being ruthless, cruel, and evil to the core.
Eons ago, Megatron was a gladiatorial champion on Cybertron, his charisma netting him a large following of admirers from all flocks of life. Megatron Is My Hero Among his followers was Optimus, a file clerk who began to author Megatron's speeches to his following. Maccadam's At a rally, Megatron dubbed his movement, the Decepticons, and swore to create a new Cybertron that would bring equal rights to all citizens. As his power base grew however, Megatron's personality took a darker turn with Megatron eventually declaring open war on Optimus and his own followers. Megatron Is My Hero

Among Megatron's early acts was the execution of the High Council. Matrix of Leadership (episode) Once Shadow Striker had captured Optimus Prime, she intended to ship him to Megatron until Bumblebee freed his leader. Shadowstriker When Deadlock attempted to defect from the Decepticons, Megatron followed him to Maccadam's where he attempted to slay the traitor to serve as an example to others. Before he could however, Maccadam stormed into the room and transformed into his monstrous alternate mode, the mere sight of it cowing Megatron into retreating. Maccadam's

Once the Decepticons had taken Vector Sigma, Megatron sought to use the supercomputer to reprogram the AllSpark and have it birth a new generation of loyal Decepticons. When Bumblebee discovered this, he was brought before Megatron who sadistically tore out the scout's voice box to prevent him from reporting what he'd learned. Megatron Is My Hero Despite Megatron's best efforts, the Autobots did manage to learn of his plan, managing to seize the AllSpark and send it through a space bridge. Allspark (Cyberverse)

Megatron eventually tracked the AllSpark to Earth, and sent Slipstream's Seeker squad there to retrieve it.

Catching wind of this intel, the Autobots on Cybertron sent Windblade to retrieve the artifact first only for her to come across the missing Bumblebee. Upon learning that her friend was suffering from amnesia, the cityspeaker attempted to use a cortical psychic patch to help him make sense of his memories. Among them was an undamaged memory of Megatron; however she was unable to access it before the patch malfunctioned and shut her out. Fractured

Once Windblade had begun making headway in fixing Bumblebee's mind, the scout began to remember Megatron in the earliest days of his revolution causing him to idealize the Decepticon leader as a hero. With Windblade's help however, he was able to remember the tyrant Megatron had become, being left to wonder how he could have ever considered the Decepticon someone to look up to. Megatron Is My Hero

After Slipstream had consistently failed in her mission, Shockwave hacked into Bumblebee's cortical psychic patch and trapped the scout in a false memory that painted him as a Decepticon spy aboard the Ark who had sabotaged the ship at Megatron's direct order. Sabotage
Megatron challenges Optimus Prime to a one on one battle to end the war.

Synopsis
A busy construction site is attacked by driver-less construction equipment, and several components are stolen. The construction vehicles return to Decepticon headquarters and are revealed to be the newly built Constructicons. The components they stole are parts to a machine that will allow Megatron to absorb the power chip rectifiers from his Decepticon warriors.

While the final preparations are completed on the machine, Megatron flies to Autobot headquarters and makes Optimus Prime an offer he cannot refuse. Megatron offers the Autobot leader a one on one battle with the winner staying on Earth to do as he pleases, and the loser taking his army and exiling themselves to deep space. Confident in his own abilities, Prime accepts the challenge and sets the match.

Knowing that Prime would be unable to resist a chance to honorably end their conflict, Megatron returns to the Decepticon base and uses the newly completed machine to gain all of the special powers of his warriors. Skywarp's teleportation, Thundercracker's sonic boom, Rumble's seismic attack, etc. Knowing that Megatron would now be unbeatable, Starscream voices concerns that the Autobot computer Teletraan I would be able to detect what Megatron had done. Anticipating this problem, Megatron dispatches the Constructicons to take care of the computer.

The two armies arrive at the battle site, and the contest begins. Megatron unleashes a barrage of powers (while Starscream gives a running commentary), and Prime is outclassed at every step. Not knowing that he has been deceived, Prime concedes the fight and comments that he underestimated Megatron. The shocked Autobots begin the trek back to base, and the Decepticons follow to make sure they leave.

Meanwhile, the Constructicons have nearly tunneled their way into the Ark and Teletraan I. Sensing the imminent danger, Teletraan I activates the Dinobots. The Dinobots respond and start pounding on the Constructicons, opening up a lava channel in the process. The battle not going in their favor, the Constructicons pull out one last trick and combine into the super warrior, Devastator. The returning Autobots see the battle, but are unable to help. Inside the Ark, Teletraan I is able to show that Megatron cheated, and the Autobots rush outside to help the Dinobots.

Despite the arrival of the rest of the Autobots to the fight, Devastator is still too powerful to be defeated, so Hound distracts the monstrous Decepticon with a hologram of a colossal Autobot. Stunned at the sudden appearance of a robot even bigger than he is, Devastator is shot by Optimus Prime and falls apart. The Constructicons try to drive away, but the Dinobots blast them into the lava. The other Decepticons are routed by the Autobots and also pushed or knocked back by gunfire into the lava. There is much rejoicing.

...Until Megatron rises from the lava, vowing that the Decepticons will rise again.
Quotes
"Forgive me, but I believe your boast sounds vaguely familiar."

"But I need my power chip rectifier. Besides, the Cybertron Code of Combat requires each warrior to fight as he is, without additional reinforcement. You wouldn't want to cheat, would you, Megatron?"<br>
"I will win by any means! At any cost! Even if it means terminating you, Starscream!"<br>
"I was only raising a legal point..."
"Doesn't this remind you of the gladiatorial combats in ancient Rome?"<br>

"Sludge not see these Decepticons before."<br>

"It is ended."<br>
"Is it really over, Optimus? I mean, have we seen the end of this war? Forever?"<br>
"Who can say, Spike? In this vast universe, is anything truly forever?"
:—Optimus Prime and Spike, with a question that is quickly answered, at least for the audience
Notes
Technical or animation glitches
*It seems the artists might have had only script directions to go by when drawing the Constructicons' vehicular attack modes, and not actual character models. Both Long Haul and Mixmaster deploy weapons that are of similar description to their toys' attack forms (cab-mounted cannon, twin missile launchers), but look nothing like them.
*Coloring errors:
**As Long Haul deploys his missiles, his Decepticon symbol is red, and missing its "cheeks".
**The top of Hook's head is green as Scrapper bows to Megatron... and again in the very next shot.
**Scavenger's face is colored all-green as he welds. If it was a stylistic decision to show the light from his welding, then it should flicker along with the welding lights.
**As Scrapper directs the others working on the infuser, his head is green instead of black, and Mixmaster's drum and torso are purple instead of green.
**The top of Wheeljack's chest is colored glass-blue instead of white after the shock cannon blows up.
**During the pan across the Decepticons before the strength transfer, Soundwave is missing the line in the middle of his mask, and his yellow stripes are mostly colored blue.
**Megatron's waist is red instead of silver after the transfer.
**When Megatron talks to Starscream after that, Starscream's air vent "boobs" are colored white instead of black.
**The front of Scrapper's head is red instead of black as Megatron orders him to move out.
**As Scrapper transforms, his whole helmet is green.
**As Optimus explains the code to Spike, Ironhide's forehead isn't fully drawn in.
**"Defeat, Megatron?" Megatron's fusion cannon is white instead of black during this line.
**At the end of the across the Decepticons seating themselves, Soundwave's optic visor is blue instead of red.
**Laserbeak's head is light gray as he ejects from Soundwave.
**Megatron's faction emblem is missing before he teleports.
**And it's missing again as he says the Autobots must exile.
**After Megatron teleports, Skywarp is colored like Starscream as he talks about the his ability.
**Starscream's right arm is colored dark gray for a moment, while he talks to Skywarp about the rectifiers.
**Wheeljack's missing one of the lines on his "ears" as he and the others listen to Optimus say he was not prepared.
**Prime's tires are light gray as he transforms to truck mode, and his headlights aren't colored in.
**Scrapper's helmet is green in two shots as he and the others run into Autobot Headquarters.
**Scavenger's back is purple as he and the others back away from the Dinobots.
**Snarl's helmet is the same medium gray as his body as he joins Sludge.
**As Devastator walks toward the Dinobots, Swoop's head is white, while Sludge and Slag are block-colored gray.
**Devastator's hand is green instead of purple as he throws Grimlock.
**The top of Starscream's chest is red instead of gray as Megatron rants about the hologram.
*"Besides, the Cybertron code of combat requires..." Starscream's hand phases behind the transfer machine's light during his monologue.
*There's a discontinuity between shots as Megatron is infused; in one shot he's moving and reacting in visible pain to the power transfer; in the next, he's just standing there like a statue.
*Also in the above scene, when Megatron says "I now possess all your powers in addition to my own" his "helmet" is significantly wider than his usual onscreen character model's, and in the NEXT shot ("Optimus Prime and the Autobots... are FINISHED!! Huhuhwarhahahahaha!!") his helmet suddenly shrinks back to its usual narrow width. It would therefore be reasonable to surmise the animators were using Megatron's G1 Toy as a drawing reference for the former shot, as his helmet IS significantly wider than the "normal" Megatron's onscreen model.
*After Megatron talks of the Constructicons destroying Teletraan I, he's suddenly no longer attached to the machine.
*When Megatron laughs maniacally after being infused with the power of the other Decepticons, his head is disproportionately small, and his Decepticon insignia moves independently of his body.
*When the Autobots transform into their alternate modes right before leaving to the duel, Trailbreaker transforms outside the Ark somehow.
*When the Autobots transform back into robot mode when they arrive at the duel, Ironhide, already in robot mode, transforms into his alternate mode. The next scene shows him in robot mode again.
*When Starscream lands behind Megatron before the latter's duel with Optimus Prime, the animators forgot to animate the dust Starscream's feet stir up, so we can see that his legs are not fully drawn, and instead of feet, they end in paint blotches.
*Chip is drawn speaking Spike's line "It's Earth history, Ironhide!"
*During the duel, what are the Autobots supposed to be sitting on? Air?
*After the boulder Prime threw at Meagtron splits in two, it completely disappears before the shot ends.

*Huffer is drawn with six wheels instead of four as he takes Prime's trailer.
*Only a moment after Huffer takes Prime's trailer, as the Autobots depart the battlefield, the animators have drawn Prime towing his trailer again, but covered up their error by coloring him orange like Huffer.
*Mixmaster's cab-weapon changes color and form between scenes (it's a gray sphere when the Constructicons start tunneling; it's a green gun when they reach Autobot Headquarters.)
*Mixmaster's acid-laser changes from pink to orange between shots. The weapon that fires it has gone back to gray in the second shot.
*The animation doesn't really show a hole melting in the floor; a section of the floor just vanishes and is replaced with a melted hole.
*Grimlock has his original head design in this episode, rather than the later, toy-based one he normally is drawn with.
*Grimlock's Galaxial Rocket Launcher is drawn as one of the barrels of his laser rifle shooting off.
*The Dinobots' voices are heavily processed in his episode, far beyond the norm, giving them a crunchy, gravely sound.
*The inside of Sludge's robot mode mouth is glowing orange again. Clearly this is part of his character model, but why and how did such a bizarre choice come about in the first place?
*As Scrapper clutches his wounded shoulder, he has two small eyes instead of a visor. (It makes him look a lot like Rewind.)

*Much like Kickback's insect head, the cartoon could never quite make up its mind whether Devastator was supposed to have two small eyes or one big visor. This episode shows him with eyes as he monologues, then the visor shows up just a shot or two later.
*"Then -- Then Megatron cheated!" Ironhide's mouth is drawn with teeth and a tongue.
*When the Autobots cheer inside their headquarters, Bumblebee's insignia is missing, Wheeljack's ears aren't flashing, and Jazz's mouth is blinking on and off.
*As the hologram fades out, Hound isn't shown in the nearby cave from which he's supposed to be projecting it.
*When Megatron finds out the "Giant Autobot" is a hologram, his cannon kibble is gone for a brief second.
*In the final closeup of Megatron's face, several of the lava streams are flowing behind his eyes and back out. OUCH!
*When we first see the Autobots in the Ark after the duel, Ironhide punches empty air, the whole screen shakes, and he says, “Uh, sorry about that” to no-one.

Rhino DVD release
More than most episodes, the Kid Rhino DVD version of this episode is full of animation errors that do not appear in the original broadcast version or prior home video releases (as a result of incomplete film masters being used for the DVD), as well as crude attempts made by Rhino to fix some of these errors.

Some are merely aesthetic complaints:
*In one shot, the camera pans sideways to follow the Constructicons, however they aren't moving, so they actually lag behind the screen. Then, as they round a corner, they are animated above the animation cel of the building they drive around, and you can see they are not fully drawn. Their vehicle modes end in unfinished lines and paint blotches until they come fully into view.
*As the Constructions make their big introductory transformations, the camera doesn't pan up with Bonecrusher, Long Haul, and Mixmaster, leaving them cut out of the shot from the thighs upward. Bonecrusher is also visibly floating above the ground.
*After Long Haul transforms, the equipment he's supposedly carrying simply pops into view. As the outlines tell us, it has been retroactively shopped into the image.
*The Rhino DVD portrays the power-chip smelter as a featureless rectangular smear, lacking all the light effects and animation that should be present.
*When Megatron says "Scrapper, you have your orders...", the Constructicons' eyes / eye visors no longer glow red in response.
*As he drives up to start digging, Mixmaster is constantly jumping a bit back and forth while driving, as if the animation frames are not ordered properly.
*When the Autobots transform to leave base for the battlefield, Optimus Prime's left headlight blinks in and out a couple of times.
*Then, as they all drive out of the Ark, the screen freezes for a moment. The Autobots seem to have teleported after the animation finally continues.
*The sky behind Ironhide, when he is informing us of his ignorance of Earth's history, jumps noticeably at the beginning of the shot, and the shadowy outlines around him vibrate wildly.
*The audience isn't actually sitting on the edge of the pit, rather they are all somehow seated on the slopes.
*At two points during the duel with Optimus Prime (one of them recycled as him landing at Autobot Headquarters), Megatron is colored dark gray.
*When the miscolored Megatron blasts Prime away, the background isn't moving to simulate the camera pan, whereas Prime's animation is.
*The humans in one shot are drawn horribly off-model, with terrible looking teeth, may we add. Spike shows his pre-final print uppers again in a later shot.
*When Skywarp boasts that Megatron acquired the power of teleportation from him, he is colored like Starscream, who is seen sitting right next to him.
*During the Dinobots' fight scene with the Constructicons, some of the laser-firing animation is missing, leaving the characters with huge "holes" and gaps on their bodies where said laser shots should have been animated. This also renders the shot of Sludge firing his eye-beams completely pointless.
*And as Swoop fires his missiles, the background art isn't moving, making it look like he is floating.
*Also in one shot, the rock covering the Constructicons is missing from the foreground, and again, we see incomplete drawings instead of fully-drawn robots.
**However a later shot has a cave mouth drawn over the screen's outer rim, which shouldn't be there, as the scene takes place outside.

However, some of the screwups actually confuse the plot:
*Power chip rectifier only appear in the finished animation as little more than small glowing pink dots. When Starscream removes his, this glowing effect is missing, meaning he's holding nothing, and that none of the rectifiers ever actually appear on-screen in the Rhino version.
*When Rhino DVD Optimus Prime hurls a boulder at Megatron, Megatron still lights up to use Skywarp's teleportation ability to get out of the way... but after the teleporation glow effect fades, Megatron is still standing there. The boulder flies straight through him with nobody seeming to care, including Megatron himself.
*When Megatron is talking to Starscream while the Constructicons are building the infuser machine, Starscream is colored like Skywarp.
**Speaking about the Constructicons being hard at work, this sequence is completely missing. We are instead treated to a shot of Megatron and Starscream standing silently for seconds.
*When Cliffjumper runs up and uses his glass gas, he is coloured like Bumblebee.

*The animation sequence of Megatron landing at the Autobot base is missing entirely, and is replaced by looped animation from later in the episode of Megatron landing after a jump, along with a recycled snippet of Cliffjumper looking elated after encasing Megatron in ice from just a few seconds earlier.
*When Megatron lands, there are two Optimus Primes and Ironhides there to greet him.
*As the Autobots help Prime make his decision, the camera pans are missing, and the scene is instead shown as multiple, separate shots. Secondly, Wheeljack's light effects are mis-aligned. Finally, the added lens-effects in Prime's optics makes him look like he's about to cry.
*When the Constructicons move out to dig the passage to the Autobot headquarters, they're all shown outdoors instead of inside the base.
*A transformation sequence for Trailbreaker, recycled from "More than Meets the Eye, Part 1", still retains its exterior background even though it's supposed to happen inside Autobot Headquarters.
*When the Autobots arrive at the pit in vehicle mode, Ironhide is seen transforming from robot mode to vehicle mode. Then, he is back in his robot form.
*Where the finished episode tries to disguise the fact that the animators have drawn Prime towing his own trailer by coloring him life Huffer, in the unfinished animation used for the DVD, Prime is colored in his normal colors.
*Instead of using the finished shot, we see recycled animation of a standing Prime being hit when Megatron delivers his final blow. He should be lying on the ground.
*The animation of the lava is absent in a couple of shots.

But, uhhh, hey, that silver DVD case sure is shiny and pretty!

Shout! Factory DVD release
*Like "Countdown to Extinction" before it, the sound effects of this episode are cranked down to near-inaudibility, compared to the music and vocal tracks.
*This episode is also one of several affected by Shout!'s inability to obtain complete master reels to restore the incomplete animation used in the Kid Rhino releases, resulting in 1-inch tape versions being used instead. Picture quality is thus all over the map. The scenes of Megatron approaching Autobot Headquarters are noticeably under-lit. Several scenes are in visibly softer focus compared to shots before and after, such as the pan of Autobots as Cliffjumper says "I don't trust 'im!"

Continuity errors
[[File:Lineup.jpg|thumb|upright=2.2|"Where'd you get the Constructicons?"<br>"We found them."<br>"Found them? On Earth? *This episode gives the first of three contradictory origins for the Constructicons.

*The building site that the Constructicons raid is a power plant. One of the construction workers states that it will be able to provide the whole planet with limitless energy, raising the question of why the Decepticons didn't raid such a powerful energy source for energon.

*So this head worker guy sees driverless, talking construction vehicles, that turn into giant malevolent thieving robots with the Decepticon symbol on 'em... but somehow he only figures out that they're Decepticons when Scrapper says they work for Megatron. Is Megatron's name more famous than all the defining aspects of his faction?

*Ironhide is apparently able to detect the Decepticons by himself, without relying on Teletraan I. However, in "The Ultimate Doom, Part 1", the Autobots were unable to detect the approaching Decepticons with Teletraan I sabotaged.

*Optimus Prime takes out Devastator with a single shot from his laser rifle, something rather at odds with the later portrayal of combiners as nigh-invulnerable. Maybe they were upgraded?

*It's a bit strange that Starscream of all mechs should be concerned with legalities and suggest that Megatron try to fight honorably... but there is a touch of sarcasm when he says "You wouldn't want to cheat, would you, Megatron?"

*There is a rather huge hole in Megatron's "Destroy Teletraan I" plot: When the Autobots come back from Optimus Prime's defeat, wouldn't a burning-and-smoking Teletraan I immediately scream "Megatron DID cheat" rather than cover that fact up?

*The Autobots return to headquarters as the Dinobots have begun their battle with Devastator. They have time enough to repair Optimus Prime and detect the Decepticon deception, and meanwhile, the Dinobots are still fighting Devastator.
**On that note the Autobots don't even try to tell the Dinobots that they were leaving and the fight was over. Were the Autobots going to leave the Dinobots behind and strand them on Earth!?

*Speaking of which, didn't anybody notice the big flaming hole in the floor of Autobot Headquarters?

*So the Decepticons couldn't FLY out of the lava when they fell in?

*Doesn't anybody notice Megatron down there floating in the lava?

Continuity notes
*This episode introduces the Constructicons and Devastator.

*Gadgets and powers:
**The Constructicons show off a variety of armaments and abilities, such as Mixmaster melting a whole steam roller into goop and later firing a stream of rock-melting liquid, Long Haul having dump truck mode missile launchers (perhaps a nod to his toy's "attack mode"), and Scavenger's shovel-based sensors.
**Long Haul has the rather amazing ability to fill up his cargo bed with a payload, transform to robot mode, then convert back to dump truck mode... and still have the cargo be there!
**Ironhide detects Megatron's approach using a sensor that displays on his chest, not unlike abilities he displayed in "S.O.S. Dinobots" and "The Ultimate Doom, Part 1".
**Cliffjumper's glass gas, if that's what it's supposed to be, acts a lot more like Ironhide's liquid nitrogen. He shoots a huge stream of it from his retracted wrists, and it encases Megatron in ice.
**Speaking of which, being encased in ice does not affect Megatron's ability to fly.
**Ironhide doesn't even bother retracting his fists; he just shoots lasers right out of them. It's an unusual conceit for Transformers, though not unheard of.
**As explained in this episode, power chip rectifiers are what give Transformers their unique special abilities.
**The episode gives us a showcase of the Decepticons' most notable abilities, as Megatron uses Starscream's cluster bombs and null rays, Reflector's light-generating abilities, Rumble's earthquakes, Skywarp's teleportation, and Thundercracker's sonic abilities.
***Incidentally, this is the first time said sonic abilities have been used explicitly. And it's not even by the guy they belong to.
**Optimus shows the strange ability to fire lasers out of his palm. He's blocking Megatron's shot with the other arm at the same time, almost like he's absorbing the energy and shooting it back.
**Teletraan-1 can make up its own mind to wake up the Dinobots when a threat is detected.
**Grimlock actually uses his rocket launcher, though it's drawn as one of the barrels of his laser rifle shooting off like a rocket (similar to the future fate of Haywire's gun mode).
**Snarl's sword can fire energy blasts from its tip. The Dinobots actually using their swords is something that doesn't happen often, but this is the second time Snarl has been shown with his. Instead of being red, as per the toy and comics, it uses the gray coloring it has in Snarl's package art.
**While the lasers in the Dinobots' dinosaur modes come out of their eyes, horns or mouths, Snarl's dinosaur mode lasers come out of his nostrils. Yeah.
**Hound projects one of his holograms out of both fists.
**Hey, turns out the Constructicons can turn themselves all into one big robot! Wonder if the toys can do that??
*When the Constructicons are tunneling, Scrapper refers to Scavenger with his working name "Scrounge". In their More than Meets the Eye bio, Dreamwave would paint this as a deliberate derogatory term other Decepticons sometimes refer to him as.
*Soundwave totally pets Ravage on the head like a kittycat. Adorable!
*This episode is also the "source" of the aborted "Lava Bath Safety" deco for the original Megatron toy.
*The Law of Cybertron will be invoked again many years later, to resolve the Generation 2 War. Transformers: G-2 (story page)

Real-world references
*Star Wars sound effects:
**Millennium Falcon engine burst/whine as the Constructions take off from the construction site.
**Same effect as Megatron leaves Autobot Headquarters.
**Lightsaber ignition sound when Megatron activates Reflector's light powers.
*Chip provides the episode's requisite dose of "Oh, it's educational" by likening the leaders' combat to the gladiatorial matches of ancient Rome.
*Mixmaster gets in on the act by naming a couple of acids by formula: H2SO4 (sulfuric acid) and HCl (hydrochloric acid).
*Oh, and the construction site will make energy from the earth's magnetic field. "Magnetic field" sounds like science, right??

Trivia
*The art style of this episode has a distinctively Japanese flavor to it (in a handful of scenes), similar to that of "Roll for It". Masami Ōbari's believed to be involved with this episode.
*The animation pretty much gets Devastator's transformation spot-on. Enjoy it while you can; it won't last.
*Storyboards for this episode indicate that at one point in the scripting process, power chip rectifiers were also tied into the ability to transform. Upon giving up their rectifiers, the Decepticons lose their ability to transform, and during the fight, Megatron transforms into a jet!
*Scenes and dialogue deleted from this episode include Wheeljack showing off the latest improvements he has made to the Dinobots outside Autobot Headquarters (during which Megatron arrives), Scavenger referring to Scrapper with his working name "Gravedigger", Megatron using Soundwave's mind-reading powers on Optimus Prime during their fight, and Starscream sarcastically pointing out that the other Decepticons could help Devastator fight the Dinobots - except that they don't have their powers (to which Megatron retorts that "my Devastator needs no help").
**An extended portion of dialogue is also cut from Megatron's address to Optimus Prime, resulting in the rather clumsy line in the finished episode, "Our war has gone on for millions of years — Decepticons fighting Autobots — in which opposing leaders — you and I, Optimus Prime — may do battle." In the episode's dialogue script, following "Decepticons fighting Autobots," Megatron finishes his first sentence by lamenting the endless nature of the war. Prime shares in his regret, but deems it necessary as long as Megatron continues his pursuit of conquest. Megatron then speaks again, raising the topic of the "age-old law of combat," then picking up the finished line from "in which opposing leaders..."
**Ironhide's "sorry about that" non-sequitur is the result of a cut to the start of the scene: while watching the battle through the hole blasted out the side of the volcano and frustrated at not being able to join in, Ironhide slams his fist against the cavern wall, causing it to shake. He sheepishly apologizes.

*During Teletraan I's montage of the sources of Megatron's acquired powers, the descriptions for the individual Decepticons are verbatim quotes from the Transformers Series Bible's "Decepticon Rollcall" page, albeit including several lost-in-translation typographical errors ("Decepticon Lider", "Decepticon Commicator", "Sky Warp"). The most notable of those is Rumble (misspelled as "Runble") being identified as a "red robot". Furthermore, the seemingly random numbers listed on those screens are actually Hasbro's product codes for the respective toys. Interestingly enough, Reflector is given a product number, even though he was never released at mass retail. However, the renditions of the Decepticons are not the official character model poses for those characters, but rather all-new drawings.
*The head construction worker's cry as Scavenger drops him is recycled from "The Ultimate Doom, Part 2" (from when Laserbeak kidnaps two security guards.)
*The episode's ending sure seems intended as a potential conclusion to the series, just in case it wasn't renewed for a second season. Turns out that Transformers was a bit of a hit, so that whole falling-into-lava thing was ignored (though it was alluded to in the title sequence animation for season two, as the Insecticons traverse in lava).
*The giant Autobot hologram image Hound projected went anonymous for 26 years until it received an identity at 2010 as the Elite Guard member Halonix Maximus.

*When the Autobots and Decepticons are getting ready to watch the fight, Soundwave lets Ravage out and Ravage then sits beside Soundwave and audibly purrs while Soundwave pets him. This is both very cute and very creepy.
*Devastator referring to himself as "the Devastator" might be a leftover reference to the character's working name of "the Destructoid".
*When aired on Hub Network's video-on-demand, the Kid Rhino version is used for some reason, even though Hub Network always airs the original pre-Kid Rhino versions

Crocodillos are creatures that Kup encountered on Strontero. They may surround people or objects menacingly.

Fiction
Marvel The Transformers comics
When Kup and Hot Rod were flying their stolen Quintesson ship over the planet of Junkion, they spotted a group of Autobots who had crashed there earlier—surrounded by Wreck-Gar and his hostile Junkions! Kup compared the potentially deadly scene to the time he saw the Crocodillos of Strontero. The Final Battle!

Notes
*Kup's reference to the Crocodillos was in the original script of The Transformers: The Movie, but was not present in the film as screened. The scene was retained in the Marvel Comics adaption of the film, though it spelled the planet's name wrong.
*Whether Crocodillos are organic or robotic is presumably up for debate, but both the Shrikebats and Ick-Yaks that Kup encountered turned out to be organic, for comparison's sake.
*"Crocodillo" is the Italian word for crocodile.

At the Decepticon base on Phobos, Soundwave tries to beat the location of the Tomb of the Primes from Ransack. But still, the elderly bot says he will only give this information to the Fallen: Soundwave, he snarls, is an ignorant fool unaware of the true scale of things. The commander almost kills Ransack for this, before Starscream points out the Fallen might be unhappy if they vape one of his Seekers. Starscream believes he can "loosen" Ransack's tongue, but the Seeker merely mocks them for believing that, just because the Fallen is currently incapacitated, they have freedom of action.

Speaking of action, Skids and Mudflap decide to make their attack run on the base, out for revenge on Soundwave for all he's done to them. Do they need a plan? Why bother, random explosions worked for them so far! The Decepticons are surprised and angered to find themselves under attack, and Ravage leaps to rend and tear. Luckily, this time the twins are ready for him and use the power of ducking; an electrical bomb is placed on the kitty as he's in mid-air, disabling him.

Soundwave and Starscream, however, remain unimpressed and swiftly put an end to the attack. Starscream finally gets a chance to kill Mudflap for the humiliation on Cybertron, but the twins' attack has given Ransack the opportunity to shoot Starscream in the back and flee. He threatens to grass Soundwave up to the Fallen, and the Decepticons hurriedly chase after him to prevent this. The twins, not knowing what any of the big talk is about, have only a moment to enjoy their victory when they see what's coming: the Decepticon army on Cybertron, coming in to land. The Phobos base is just a staging area for an attack on Earth, where the drones had been intending to go all along — and the twins are in their way.

The twins prepare to die, speaking their final words and preparing to take out as many drones as possible...

When Optimus Prime arrives with an Autobot strike force! They've followed the twins and swiftly obliterate the Decepticons, until the survivors simply surrender. Mudflap remarks that the main Decepticons have fled... and is shocked when Ironhide believes him. Ironhide apologises to the twins, admitting the Autobots were wrong about them and their loyalties; without the twins, they'd never have known about this base. He welcomes them to the Autobot Earth division at long last.

Skids wonders if they should mention the Fallen again, but Mudflap says not to bother. What will be, will be...
Because he is currently incapacitated or restrained, you have some illusion of free will. There is none. We serve the Fallen. THAT IS ALL."
"We're under attack!"<br>
"No? Really?"
:–Starscream informs Soundwave of the blatantly obvious

"You drive... I'll carve!"

Errors
* The "Previously" section claims the twins genuinely defected and that they brought Ransack to the Phobos base. It also refers to the Matrix as "the key to the creation of the TRANSFORMERS", probably confusing the film Matrix with the G1 one.
* Ransack is coloured wrongly, just like last issue. Grindor has his usual miscolour today, but then gains his proper colour scheme for one panel.
* There's a daytime sky... on an airless moon.
* Arcee turns up in her original form, instead of her ROTF one.
* Starscream's optics are light blue in color, like an Autobot's, rather than the usual red or bright orange they normally are.

Notes
* Soundwave is revealed to have been diverging a bit from the Fallen's orders, taking advantage of the master being absent. It's not explicitly stated but it's strongly hinted that Soundwave wants the Matrix for himself.
* Soundwave and Starscream are still working for the Fallen in the film, so I guess Ransack never made it!
* The purple generic drones from #2.1 appear. In a nice bit of consistency, they turn up in transition forms... so all their jet bits are missing. (They're also now all grey.)
* Sideswipe's more bloodthirsty side turns up here. He also paraphrases Mikaela Banes.
* I bet the twins felt like a right bunch of tits when the Fallen turned up for the film!

Ending the All Hail Megatron reprints earlier than #1 had claimed, this little ditty is the first edited reprint since the Marvel UK days. And what an edit! In order to wrap things up, chunks of three issues are used:

* Ten pages from #6. We have the scenes of Kup and Jazz at the start and the discussion of the importance of the Matrix, and Megatron's scenes in Israel.
* Ten pages from #7, with all of Jazz's flashback and the Autobot's driving off.
* Four pages from #9. Ratchet informs us Prime may die, Sideswipe does his page of angst, and Prime returns. But notably, the first page is a merger of panels from three separate pages (9, 15, and 16) now it looks like Ratchet is coming in to say Prime might not survive, the Autobots discuss this for a panel, and then Sideswipe tells us "Prime is dead" before starting his rant, with "Prime" edited in where he previously said "Sunstreaker".

Then we're told buy the trades at Forbidden Planet to see what's next, kids!

It's a bit messy but just about hangs together. Unfortunately, Sideswipe's "Prime is dead" dialogue (being an edit of "Sunstreaker is dead") makes it sound like Prime committed suicide. And then he mentions Sunstreaker being dead... which never happened (cos those pages were never reprinted). It also looks like the Autobots all went on a drive for... some reason, then magically appeared back in their base. It also means the Swarm have been mentioned several times as being a horrific scourge on Cybertron... but we never see them at all. (And Prime gets better a minute after we were told he might die, but that happened in the full All Hail Megatron #9 too...)

As Titan promised in #2.1 that All Hail Megatron would run for 12 issues, this is likely an emergency fixer-upper rather than something planned.

Law and Disorder
"Excellent! That knuckle-dragging thug, Ironhide, isn't here. Maybe I'll get to do a whole issue by myself..."<br>
"Sorry I'm late ... you weren't going to start without me, were you?"<br>
"Oh, no, of course not. As if I would do such a thing."
:—Ironhide and Barricade start as they mean to go on

"You are labouring under the misguided notion that we TRANSFORMERS breed like you mammals. We don't. It's disgusting. The idea of crawling out of a jelly-filled sack in a pond is revolting. Or am I thinking of frogs?"
:—Barricade

"Nice work, Charlie, we always enjoy well-drawn pictures. Especially if they're pictures of Autobots."<br>
"Yes, because, only an Autobot would need that kind of validation from a 12-year-old..."
:—Ironhide and Barricade

"I myself will be paying Mr Michael Bay a visit to submit my script [for the third film] and audition for the part. The script will be attached to the end of the proton cannon pressed to Mr Bay's temple. I suspect I'll get the part."
:—See, Barricade will be in the third one!
"AIRES (21 MAR - 19 APR): The alpha male in a pack of wolves will see you as a threat to his superiority, but, to be honest, he's giving you way too much credit there."

"TAURUS (20 APR - 20 MAY): Deep inside you, there's a little Autobot trying to get out. That's what you get for eating Skids whole, Devastator."

* Jetfire's profile claims the Fallen imprisoned his fellow Primes. Since the Fallen's profile in #3 claims they sacrificed themselves, this doesn't quite add up.

* Barricade says that a cycle is a day, which is wrong (that's a solar cycle).

Strongarm worries that her Academy classmate Nightra may still harbor a grudge, but when a powerful foe comes after her old friend, Strongarm and the Bee Team put their sparks on the line to protect her.

Synopsis
As a kitten explores the scrapyard, it's startled by the opening of a GroundBridge, though nothing appears to come out. Fixit's alarm sounds while the rest of the team moves to check the area, but they find nothing. Fixit reports that the signal is heading for the command center, so the team hurries back to find the command center clear. Fixit's able to pinpoint the location of the signal in front of them. A bot appears out of thin air, and the team prepares to fire, but Strongarm quickly recognizes the newcomer, whom she introduces as Nightra, her best friend from the Kaon Police Academy. Nightra shows off her Light Bender which she's been using to become invisible and explains her identity signal was damaged by a Wrecker during her Academy days. Strongarm asks to take Nightra on patrol so the pair can catch up, and when Bumblebee points out she needs an Earth form, Strongarm says she can scan her's.

The two friends patrol down a forest road, unaware they're being watched by a Mini-Con. Strongarm cuts the reminiscing short to ask what Nightra's really doing there. She recalls how during their Academy days, Nightra revealed she'd cheated on a test, and tried to persuade Strongarm to cover for her. Called before the Proctor, Strongarm refused to lie under questioning, resulting in Nightra being expelled from the Academy. Nightra says that after that, she turned her life around and became a bounty hunter. The Mini-Con tries to surreptitiously snatch Strongarm's Decepticon Hunter, but disturbs some birds, and Nightra flees when she hears the commotion. Strongarm manages to cut her off, and Nightra reveals she's on edge because one of her former collars, Blastwave, escaped from Trypticon Prison and is looking for her. Strongarm promises to help protect her.

The Mini-Con opens a GroundBridge portal to Soundwave, who berates him for failing to secure the Decepticon Hunter and commands him to return. The frightened Mini-Con flees, with Soundwave threatening to terminate him.

Back in the scrapyard, Bumblebee is put out that Strongarm didn't check with him first, but agrees to help her. Nightra expresses her doubt that Blastwave will even show, moments before a GroundBridge opens and Blastwave steps out. Grimlock tackles him before he can fire on Nightra, who immediately flees. While Fixit works on shutting down the GroundBridge portal, the others attempt to battle Blastwave, but he tosses them around before departing through the portal again. Fixit reports that he did manage to get a fix on Blastwave's ship in orbit. The team heads out to find Nightra.

Strongarm decides to act on a hunch, heading for Crown City as Nightra used to lose herself in a crowd when she got into trouble. They trace her signal to the Crown City Colossus and evacuate the car park. Nightra decloaks, claiming she was trying to draw Blastwave away from the scrapyard. As they try to head somewhere more private, Blastwave again appears through a portal and grabs Nightra. Strongarm is tossed aside when she tries to intervene, and Blastwave disappears with his quarry. Bumblebee contacts Fixit, who believes he can get the team onto Blastwave's ship. The team returns to the scrapyard, where Bumblebee starts breaking out the weapons from Windblade's caches, though he draws the line at Sideswipe taking an energon bazooka.

Up in orbit, Blastwave is preparing to secure Nightra when the Autobots board his ship. While they have him busy, Nightra again flees, and Strongarm goes after her. The others manage to get Blastwave trapped in a forcefield, only to quickly realize he's actually an Autobot. Blastwave uses Cybertronian sign language to give an explanation as he can't speak (much to Bumblebee's shock, then sympathy). Strongarm reaches the bridge to find Nightra sealing off the cargo bay and starting the jettison procedure. She rapidly realizes that Blastwave's the bounty hunter and Nightra's the criminal. Grabbing the control chip to disable the console, Nightra cloaks and uses her Light Bender's decoy function to get the drop on Strongarm.

In the cargo bay, the Autobots combine their weapons and manage to get the cargo bay doors open. Unfortunately just as they do, the outer airlock opens, threatening to suck Blastwave into space. The Autobots form a chain, and though Drift is almost lost in space in the process, everyone manages to hold on long enough for Grimlock to reseal the outer door. On the bridge, Strongarm remains confounded by Nightra's tricks, until she hits on the idea of knocking out the lights. Nightra's illusions disappear, allowing Strongarm to slap the cuffs on her.

The team returns to Earth, where Bumblebee congratulates Strongarm on her collar and Strongarm reflects that Nightra was no longer the friend she knew.
Notes
Continuity notes
*Nightra mentions Dropforge, previously established as one of Strongarm's teachers in "Get a Clue".
*Strongarm's recollection of their time on Cybertron shows the pair walking among the statues of the Thirteen originally seen back in "Pilot (Part 1)".
*Nightra claims Blastwave escaped from Trypticon Prison. In the Aligned continuity, Trypticon was turned into the Nemesis, which was last seen still being a spaceship in "Predacons Rising", but hey, maybe they repurposed it as a prison.
*Soundwave observes that Hi-Test is the first of his Mini-Con minions to return without a Decepticon Hunter; Stuntwing pinched Bumblebee's in "King of the Hill (Part 2)", while Sideswipe's was taken by Trickout in "The Great Divide".
*The Crown City Colossus has appeared onscreen before. Notably in "Battlegrounds, Part 2", the Autobots severed its arm so they could drop it on Megatronus and it looks like the arm's been restored since then. This is the first time it's been named onscreen, though its name was already revealed in the book Bumblebee Versus Scuzzard.
*Bumblebee's voicebox was crushed by Megatron at some point before the start of Transformers: Prime; he regained the ability to speak after being submerged in the Omega Lock in "Deadlock".

Prisoner manifest
* In stasis: Crustacion, Ragebyte, Zorillor, Springload, Boostwing, Jacknab, Pilfer, Shadow Raker

Transformers references
*Nightra claims that Blastwave escaped from Trypticon Prison. Trypticon Prison was a location from Transformers Animated — originally intended to be shown during season four of the cartoon, it was eventually canonized by The AllSpark Almanac II.

Real-world references
Errors
* When boarding Blastwave's ship, only three Autobots exit the GroundBridge before it closes, although afterwards all five Bee Team members are shown to be aboard the ship.
* When attempting to hang on in the depressurizing cargo bay, two of the Autobots are hanging outside the open doors, then they slip further, then the doors close and everyone is inside...

Trivia
* This is the first episode of the series where a rogue Autobot is the main antagonist.
*This episode was originally scheduled to air on July 1st, 2017; it first aired in the UK and Canada on July 15, airing in the United States later.
* The original description text for this episode gave the name of Strongarm's Academy friend as "Chicane." Presumably this was a preliminary name for Nightra.
:Skylynx is a Predacon from the Prime portion of the Aligned continuity family.

Skylynx is a bitter and sour guy in comparison to his chuckle-head partner, Darksteel. While he may be the type of guy to throw a punchline once in a while, he conducts a very stark delivery. Despite his horridly dull personality, he's fierce enough to handle himself in a battle, and is just ever so arrogant enough to color himself and the Predacons above any and all Autobots.
Following his return to Cybertron, Shockwave succeeded in bringing two new clones, Darksteel and Skylynx, online. The pair were put to work searching for more Predacon remains to continue the cloning experiments. It was while they were searching in what was once the Sea of Rust that they were happened upon by Ultra Magnus and Smokescreen. They attacked the pair, with Skylynx causing so much damage to Magnus that the Autobot was taken out of commission. Victorious, the two Predacons returned to Shockwave's lab, only to find Starscream less than happy that they'd revealed themselves to the Autobots.

More searching for fossils ensued, and the pair stuck gold when they discovered a Predacon burial ground. While they were collecting up the bones, Unicron arrived to raise an army of undead Predacons. Skylynx and Darksteel attacked him, only to prove no match for the dark god. They were later found there by Predaking, who swiftly asserted his leadership in combat, and led the pair into battle to assist the Autobots in fighting Unicron's horde of undead Predacons. They were successful in slowing the horde down long enough for Optimus Prime to defeat Unicron, causing the Terrorcons to disintegrate.
:Part of the Prime: Beast Hunters: Predacons Rising line, Skylynx is a redeco of Skystalker, transforming into a thin winged dragon.
:Skylynx's discs are cast in a swirly gold-brown plastic, making them potential candidates for Gold Plastic Syndrome. This has yet to be corroborated by any actual breakage to the knowledge of the Wiki thus far, so take this as a recommendation to be careful, okay? Just... be careful.

* Skylynx's deco is evocative of the original bearer of the name, though darker-hued to make him look more ominous. Part of it is also very iridescent, alternating between a greenish-blue and a navy blue under different lighting conditions.
* Skylynx also shares an accent with his parent incarnation.
* Skylynx was named by Hasbro in the midst of designing him; the designers were baffled at the christening, as the character is traditionally an Autobot.
Sentinel Prime is an imposing figure, standing head and shoulders over the average Autobot. Bristling with some of the most heavy-duty weapons and armor available to the Autobot army has instilled in Sentinel Prime a supreme confidence in his own abilities as both a leader and a fighter. Unfortunately such pride usually precedes a fall, and there will always be someone out there keen to prove a point, or who merely sees Sentinel Prime as an obstacle on the path to a bigger destiny.

Sentinel Prime is typically, but not always, depicted as Optimus Prime's immediate predecessor as Autobot leader.

Sometimes his true name is Infinitus, other times Infinitus is his Titan Master partner and a separate individual.
Likewise, the earlier appearance of "U-Haul Robot" was dubbed "Sentinel Major", giving him a pre-Matrix name.}}
Sentinel Major was originally one of the Quintessons' slave robots on Cybertron around twelve million years ago. Unusual among his consumer goods brethren, Sentinel Major was equipped for combat and was forced to participate in gladiatorial games for the Quintessons' amusement, wielding a spiked ball-and-chain weapon and a tire-shaped shield. He was once defeated in battle by Prima, who attacked their Quintesson masters when their match was over, only to be destroyed himself.

Subsequently, the consumer goods robots rose up against the Quintessons in a rebellion that ultimately forced the aliens off the planet. Sentinel Major survived this clash, but he and the rest of his race—now dubbed "Autobots"—were robbed of any chance of peace when the military hardware robots, now known as "Decepticons", set their sights on conquering Cybertron for themselves. Two Autobot leaders fell during the war that ensued, and Sentinel Major inherited the Matrix of Leadership and became Sentinel Prime, leader of the Autobots. Under his leadership, the Autobots realized that they would never be able to defeat the Decepticons with firepower, and they turned instead to stealth, reconfiguring their bodies to be able to transform into other forms. With the power of his new ability, Sentinel Prime defeated the Decepticons' leader, and the Autobots won the war.

The ensuing period of peace was known as the Golden Age of Cybertron, but, around nine million years BCE, the Decepticon threat re-emerged when they too adopted transformation, and coupled it with robot-mode flight powers. One of the first of this new breed of Decepticons, the malevolent Megatron, killed Sentinel Prime in combat. As he died, Sentinel Prime handed off the Matrix to Alpha Trion, who kept it safe until the emergence of the next Autobot leader, Optimus Prime.

When Rodimus Prime journeyed into the Matrix in 2005, Sentinel Prime was the sixth guide he encountered. Sentinel Prime recounted the development of transformation, the Autobot victory in the war and the rise of Megatron. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4
Sentinel Prime was Autobot leader for the first 500,000 years of the Great War. With trithyllium alloy armor, an electro-disrupter and a large variety of other weapons, including various forms of artillery shell, a solar energy rifle and energon-charged sword, Sentinel Prime was a giant among giants. Transformers: Hardwired

8.2 million years ago, Sentinel Prime went to reason with Megatron, seeking to reach him with sermon and doctrine. He failed and was tortured and destroyed by Megatron on the battlefields of Tyrest. Transformers: The Ultimate Guide Megatron was chagrined to discover that Sentinel Prime (suspecting he might be killed) had not brought the Matrix with him into battle. The War Within issue 1

The Matrix used a vision of Sentinel Prime to strengthen Optimus Prime's resolve during a battle with Megatron by confronting him with the claim that Megatron had chosen Optimus to be Prime, knowing that he was weak. Megatron's alleged influence over the Prime selection process was never substantiated.

The Keepers subsequently created a robotic duplicate of Sentinel Prime to confuse Optimus and undermine his confidence. Though possessing all of Sentinel Prime's considerable abilities, Optimus eventually realized that the duplicate had been created from his own memories of Sentinel Prime, and was incapable of doing anything new. Optimus destroyed the duplicate of Sentinel Prime, having largely overcome his own doubts about his fitness to be Autobot leader. Transformers: Hardwired
Long ago, the Titan Master Infinitus served as a herald of his master Nexus Prime. Following the death of his master at the hands of Galvatron during the First Cybertronian Civil War, Infinitus remained on Cybertron, following the teachings of the Thirteen. White Light White Heat Eventually, he used his Titan Master talents to control a larger body, taking on the identity of "Sentinel" to disguise his true lineage.
Before the Great War, Sentinel had worked his way up to becoming the head of security for the Senate. One of the duties of his security force was to go around threatening and killing people who got in the Senate's way or might embarrass it. Shortly after an assassination attempt on Nominus Prime, he eagerly watched Senator Proteus announcing the implementation of the "Clampdown", which would improve security at the cost of "some of the freedoms" of the populace. He was constantly interrupted by reports that an intruder was fighting his way into the Grand Imperium, defeating all the security squadrons Sentinel sent at him. Interested in seeing how things would play out, he stood by as Orion Pax entered the Senate's chamber and confronted them over their corruption and detached relation to the populace. Proteus eventually ordered Sentinel to have him removed. Chaos Theory Part 2

As the Clampdown began, the Senate, who were behind the attack on Nominus Prime to begin with, had Sentinel try to tap into the powers of the Matrix of Leadership in the Prime's chest. Shadowplay, Part 1: Post Hoc Liars, A to D Part 3: The Chaos of Warm Things In the process, Sentinel discovered that the Matrix was merely a fake, and with this revelation the Senate decided they had no more use for Nominus and had him killed. They went on to spread rumours that Sentinel was showing signs of affinity for being a Prime Shadowplay, Part 1: Post Hoc while he got to work on planning a "Decepticon terrorist attack" that would give him an excuse to round up all proto-Decepticons and send them off for brainwashing. Shadowplay, Part 2: Patternism While Orion Pax thwarted this, Sentinel's men were still able to discover that Senator Shockwave was quietly forming an army of dissident outliers. Sentinel ordered Shockwave's academy destroyed in an "accident" and Shockwave himself taken into custody. The rebellious Senator confronted Sentinel and Proteus with his knowledge of their illegal takeover of the Senate, but they were nonplussed and had him subjected to empurata and brainwashing. Shadowplay (Conclusion): An Intimate Beheading Shockwaves Orion Pax and his team had a Dead <s>Or Alive</s> warrant put on their heads. Elegant Chaos Part 1: All Our Parlous Yesterdays

Upon assuming office, Sentinel Prime operated out of the Security Services Headquarters in Kaon, generally regarded as "the worst place on Cybertron." By this point Sentinel had developed great disdain for government authority, irritated that they kept telling him how to do things instead of just giving him what he asked for. Megatron Origin issue 1 He would even claim he didn't get to set policy. Megatron Origin issue 3 Years later, Whirl would say Sentinel took the bad Senate and made it get worse. The Last Autobot He worked alongside Prowl, his lieutenant, and didn't seem that keen on him either, viewing Prowl's methodical approach as anathema to his more straightforward and brutal tactics. Megatron Origin issue 1 Last Light Sentinel also formed an Elite Guard for all the important work he wanted done and not known about, like secretly capturing a spark hot spot so it could be experimented on and the Functionist Council couldn't use it. Elegant Chaos Part 1: All Our Parlous Yesterdays In addition to the lunkish Elite Guard, Sentinel also worked on assembling a militia of sleeper agents, secretly recruited from his closest informants and conditioned to serve Sentinel if the time ever came, using a forerunner of the infamous shadowplay technique. Last Light
At some point, Sentinel did something later remembered as "lay[ing] claim to a populated world". New Worlds Order

When Senator Decimus was badly injured in a riot, Sentinel ordered Prowl to handle the situation as he didn't "have the struts to deal with another whining senator": if only they gave him "what I need"! Megatron Origin issue 1 After a surge in illegal gladiatorial bloodsports where Megatron's rose to prominence, he personally took charge of the investigation from Prowl, ordered tactical recon teams ("Panorama") to watch eight potential venues and intelligence officers to watch everything, and a core strike team ("Hammer") to hit Megatron's "cult" when the venue was identified.
Sentinel Prime vowed not to let their deaths be in vain, and at their funeral, the Autobot leader urged others to let their deaths be a call to arms. Megatron Origin issue 3 In private, he told his closest minions that he planned to find a Titan and unleash it on the Decepticons! Ten to Midnight Eventually, after Senator Decimus was kidnapped by the Seekers at Megatron's orders, Sentinel Prime led a raid on Megatron's base. They captured Megatron and most of the others, but were forced to free Soundwave per Senate directive, much to Prime's frustration. Megatron Origin issue 3 Unfortunately for Sentinel, this had been Megatron's plan all along and a "defecting" Starscream released all the prisoners in the Security Services' HQ!

As chaos broke out across Kaon, Sentinel Prime held the line until he decided to take things to the next level. Thus, Prime returned with his massive "Apex" mode, a battle-armor/super-powerful/more-firepower-than-god mode. Megatron Origin issue 4 His ensuing duel with Megatron was watched from behind the scenes by Soundwave and Shockwave. Soundwaves (issue) The additional firepower didn't make much of a difference, seeing as Megatron tore into it and pulled Prime off a cliff. Sentinel was defeated by Megatron. Afterwards, the former Prime's barely functional body was dumped into the middle of the Autobot forces. Prowl ordered a retreat. We would too.

The next morning, Megatron discussed his next moves with Soundwave... sitting on a throne made out of Prime's Apex Armor. Megatron Origin issue 4 Rumours spread that Sentinel had survived his battle until the replacement Senate put out footage of the body being retrieved. Sentinel's body was subsequently laid to rest, and received a state funeral at the Primal Basilica in which grieving crowds lined the streets. The Last Autobot With his first body damaged beyond repair, Infinitus secretly abandoned his old body and went into hiding beneath Kaon. Unable to explain this baffling "mutilation", Prowl claimed that Sentinel's body had been desecrated by Decepticons, who had stolen Sentinel's head. Megatron was left irritated people would blame him for that. The Last Autobot Sentinel Prime was immediately succeeded by Zeta Prime. Spotlight: Blurr
From his hiding spot, Infinitus worked to build a new body for himself. Intermittently slipping in and out of hibernation over millions of years, due to the fact that he was subconsciously attuning himself to the Titans. Last Light

Over the millions of years since his death, Sentinel's many issues would be remembered but having stood up to Megatron meant people remembered him more as someone heroic by comparison. The Last Autobot Shortly before the Dead Universe invasion, Optimus Prime would recall Sentinel Prime as he ruminated on the supposed infallibility of a Prime versus the depressing reality. Spotlight: Optimus Prime

Prowl would mention Sentinel's militarism as part of the lineage of 'false Primes' and their failings four million years later, expressing that while the Decepticons may have had noble intentions back then, they were long lost by the modern era. Dinobot Hunt (IDW) Nova Prime briefly took on the appearance of Sentinel Prime as he battled Optimus within the Dead Universe. Finis Temporis: Dark Cybertron Chapter 9

Over a year later, an irate Starscream, now running Cybertron, was left spitting teeth at the idea anyone might give Optimus a pass for annexing Earth. He compared the action to Sentinel, saying he'd been the last Prime to lay claim to a populated world. New Worlds Order When the Council of Worlds next convened, Starscream cited Sentinel Prime as one in a series of increasingly corrupt Primes in an attempt to discredit Optimus's recent annexation of Earth. All Hail Optimus Part 3: The Medium and the Message

The crewmembers on the Lost Light discussed Sentinel frankly as a dangerous ideologue with Brainstorm calling him the first Decepticon. Since everyone usually referred to Sentinel Prime in heroic terms, Tailgate was left confused; Chromedome said that he'd "lived badly but died well".

Meanwhile, the emergence of Metrotitan on Earth had prompted the creation of Autobot City, accompanied an energy broadcast immortalizing the deeds of Optimus Prime. This burst awoke Sentinel Prime, still hiding beneath Kaon. The former leader viewed Metrotitan's transmission... only to be disgusted by the sight of Autobots fraternizing with Decepticons and the "malformed" colonists from the Titan colonies - signs of compromise that he could not abide. Sentinel activated his new body, then headed to the Decepticon ghetto outside of Metroplex, vowing to purge his planet of "inferiors" The Last Autobot Trouncing Ironhide's security forces, Sentinel opened fire indiscriminately and killed 23 individuals before attacking Starscream with a spark disruptor. Ten to Midnight The Last Autobot Windblade managed to save Starscream's life by taking the weapon into her own Spark chamber, but the two were unable to stop Sentinel from bridging to Earth. After arriving outside Autobot City, he took down Aileron and destroyed the spacebridge behind him. Sentinel took a moment to appreciate Optimus Prime's imperialistic spirit... a moment that was cut short when Infinitus detached himself from his host body, vowing to burn down everything that his successor had created. The Last Autobot

His first obstacle was Alpha Trion, who he sneered at for only ever talking and doing nothing during his reign. In a brief fight, Sentinel cut Trion's head off and took control of his alternate mode as a personal plane, while Sentinel's headless body stayed behind to engage the Autobots as a distraction. Wearing Trion's body, Sentinel retrieved his fellow Titan Master Sovereign, who had been under a deep-cover identiy as the human Garrison Blackrock, and flew him back to Metrotitan to be fully transformed. After reuniting with his main body, he had Sovereign warp them, Soundwave and Optimus Prime away for a little chat. White Light The quartet traveled to the remains of the planet Prion, abandoned by Micronus Prime to die with the Mini-Cons he watched over. Sentinel explained to Optimus that he had always been Infinitus and was the herald of the late Nexus Prime as well as the concept of Titan Masters before offering the younger Prime an invitation to join him in his crusade. When Soundwave insulted his Primehood, he had Sovereign impale him using Alpha Trion's body. Optimus then tackled Sentinel into Sovereign, an act that freed Soundwave giving him enough time to reawaken Sovereign's "Blackrock" persona. Undeterred, Sentinel grabbed Sovereign and fled through Prion's spacebridge vowing to destroy the current Cybertron. White Heat

The Titan Master duo arrived on Luna 1, where Sentinel intended to awaken the vast horde of dormant Titans: with them, he could make Cybertron great again! The passerby Autobot Outrigger was cut down and Sentinel ordered a rattled Sovereign to devour his spark, something Titan Masters could do to power themselves; when Sovereign refused and Outrigger escaped, Sentinel just wired him into a Titan's brain module anyway (it's his own fault he's gonna die, shoulda ate someone!) and had it make a beeline for the moon's thrusters. The Titans awoke and Luna guard Red Alert was triggered into shooting Prowl, leaving only Fortress Maximus and Cerebros to stand up to Sentinel. Ten to Midnight He expressed satisfaction at Prowl's seeming demise due to his belief that he could have defeated the Decepticons before they rose up if Prowl hadn't been there to rein him in. Since Red Alert began fighting Fortress Maximus, Sentinel decided to gloat to Cerebros instead, revealing his evil plan to use the quantum foam of Luna 1's engines to supercharge a spacebridge through which the Titans would fly through and destroy Cybertron leaving him a blank slate from which to rebuild. Before he could kill his foes, Prowl smashed a M.A.R.B. over his head. As the Titans began to enter the portal, Fortress Maximus arrived controlling a Titan body. Using it, he fought off many of the giants while Sentinel was confronted by Prowl and Cerebros. Quickly dispatching them, he ordered Red Alert to shoot Prowl in the back of the head. Red Alert, however, managed to break Sentinel's programming and shot his Titan Master self off his large body. Sentinel was quick to reassert a measure of control over Red Alert, nearly forcing him to blast his own head off before Beak slammed into Sentinel. The Titan Master fell into a one and a half mile deep thruster where he seemingly, and rather unceremoniously, perished. The spacebridge closed without his thoughts keeping it open. Last Light
**Accessories: 2 Guns, Infinitus Titan Master
:Sentinel Prime is part of the first wave of Titans Return Voyager Class toys. He transforms from robot to shuttle to battle tank-which-looks-a-lot-like-a-train. Both vehicle modes make use of lots of flip-out panels to fill in his vehicle mode, leaving very little robo-kibble visible. Sentinel takes design cues from both Generation 1 Astrotrain and Alex Milne's IDW Sentinel Prime, whilst Infinitus's robot mode is entirely the Sentinel design.

:His Titan Master partner Infinitus transforms into his head (but any Titan Master-class figure is compatible), and he features spring-loaded pylons that pop out of his shoulders on either side of his head to "bulk up" his noggin, like all Titans Return Voyager-class figures. Despite restricting the articulation for his neck, the pylons themselves are in an assembly which can be rotated for better range of motion. Sentinel can be transformed into his shuttle mode without removing his head, leaving it somewhat hidden on its backside.

:He includes two hand-held, non-firing blasters which can be combined to form a larger double-barreled weapon. The larger gun or the combined mode can be piloted by a Titan Master. Each weapon has multiple pegs which can be mounted on the wing struts, wing tips, knees, or shoulder slots. Sentinel himself can be piloted from a translucent yellow cabin between his rear stabilizers.

:The computer-generated promo art and additional stock photos for this figure is apparently inaccurate, depicting Sentinel with the ends of his train mode for feet, while his instructions use the nose cone portion of the shuttle mode. The train engine ends can be used as feet, but they sit at an awkward angle that makes it hard for Sentinel to stand upright. He also appears to be a darker, less saturated orange than the final product.

:Sentinel also comes with a collector card based on his packaging art.

:This mold was also made into Titans Return Astrotrain and served as the model for the Primus Vanguard leader's ship in "Cybertron Magna Convoy".
**Accessories: 2 Guns, Infinitus Titan Master

:This recolored version of Sentinel Prime with translucent orange parts was only available in a gift set together with Titan Force redecoes of Brainstorm and Windblade, each with unique decoration. Rather than being marked as an Autobot, he instead bears the symbol of the Security Forces that his troops wore in the Megatron Origin comic.

:In the United States, this set was exclusive to the Hasbro Toy Shop website and the Hasbro Toy Shop booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2016. In the United Kingdom, it was exclusive to the A1 Toys website and their booth at London Film & Comic Con 2016 (with Brainstorm renamed into "Charon" for trademark reasons); in China, it was exclusive to Cybertron Con Shanghai; in Hong Kong, it was exclusive to Animation-Comic-Game 2016; and in Canada, it was exclusive to the HasbroStore booth at Fan Expo 2016.
Notes
*In a few instances throughout the third season of the Generation 1 animated series, the Constructicon Long Haul appears in the U-Haul Robot's color scheme. Guess AKOM got their "Hauls" mixed up!
*Any similarities between U-Haul Robot and Spartacus are purely coincidental. No, really.
*The retelling of Unicron's origin in the UK comics included a brief glimpse of a dying Matrix bearer passing the Matrix of Leadership to Optimus Prime. However, as he is unnamed, the only way we can presume this being is Sentinel Prime is because, as we are told later, Sentinel Prime was the leader before Optimus. Fun fact: "State Games" calling Optimus Prime "Optimus Prime" means Sentinel does this pre-war!
*The original IDW Sentinel Prime sketch included in Spotlight: Optimus Prime was clearly based on his first (and otherwise only) appearance in the Marvel comics panel shown above. Though his resemblance as drawn in Megatron Origin is less distinctly similar due to artistic interpretation and the helmet Alex Milne draws him wearing. He also definitely resembles, by and large, the Keepers description of the character, in that he is quite heavily armed. However the keen interest he shows in the use of those weapons and combat in general seem a stark contrast to the "peacetime leader unsuitable for war" portrayed in that continuity. IDW Sentinel is more likely to smash you with his Apex Armor than try to ply you with doctrine.
*Sentinel Prime didn't receive a proper toy until 2016, but he did come close previously. As revealed in the Transformers Collectors' Club roundtable panel at 2007, the original concept for the convention-exclusive redeco of Cybertron Defense Hot Shot was Sentinel Prime. The mold DOES bear a decent resemblance to his IDW appearance, but in the end it was decided that Springer was a better choice for the mold (and likely for the ongoing club comic story).
*The resurrected Sentinel in the IDW continuity appears to be wearing modular, black armor over his toy design, rather than having the toy design itself.
*As a result of the Titans Return toyline debuting on store shelves during the 2016 U.S. presidential election campaigns, many fans likened the IDW iteration of Sentinel Prime to Republican presidential candidate and business mogul Donald Trump, due to shared sentiments regarding immigrants, an intent to "fix" their homeland and supposed similarities between Sentinel Prime's color scheme and Trump's hair.
*According to ABN in Recordicons #9, Vector Prime "always lies about Five Faces of Darkness". If true, this would mean that the guy from Five Faces isn't necessarily Sentinel Prime; we're keeping this page as-is because there's no objective evidence either way, and Sentinel Prime is more convenient as a page title than "U-Haul Robot".
