:Part of the fifth wave of Revenge of the Fallen Legends Class figures, Soundwave transforms into a simplified version of his satellite altmode. The satellite head is completely covered in blue, however. Amusingly enough, his chest is sculpted in his Deluxe toy's flipped-up 'mode' (with the three circles showing) but is painted in the colors of the Deluxe's flipped-down form (shown on the Deluxe toy's packaging).

:The quality of Soundwave's head paint operations vary from figure-to-figure: Most had his blue paint carefully applied on the crest, while others have an extra paint on his upper left eye.

:Soundwave also saw release as a blindpacked figure for the first wave of the Revenge of the Fallen EZ Collection sets.
:In Japan, Legends class Soundwave was redecoed as Revenge of the Fallen "Infiltrator Soundwave" (インフィルトレイター サウンドウェーブ) to match the colors of Deluxe Class Infiltration Soundwave (see below). He was part of the Japanese Transformers Animated promotion, and was only available to those who bought at least 3,000 Yen worth of Transformers Animated toys at Amazon.jp and Yamada Denki stores.
*Soundwave (Deluxe Class, 2009)
**Japanese ID number: RD-04
**Accessories: Ravage missile
:Part of the initial Movie Preview wave, Revenge of the Fallen Soundwave is a Triple Changer, transforming into a satellite and a Cybertronian jet, which are not exactly what could be described as "distinct" from one another. In all three modes, Soundwave features a spring-loaded missile launcher which fires a missile intended to resemble Ravage, in reference to the scene in the film in which he launches the feline fiend down to Earth. In his (rather stocky) robot mode, Soundwave has blue light piping in his visor, but it is disabled, having been painted over in red; his other modes feature a second, armored version of his face, which is stored on the back of his robot mode. Probably to avoid giving the toy a very obviously two-headed robot mode, the alternate face lacks any paint details, and has an unpainted blue visor. Soundwave features numerous red and gold paint applications which are very cleverly and subtly positioned around his body to replicate similarly-colored and -positioned details on the original Soundwave toy.

:The configuration for the satellite mode depicted in the toy's instructions is not the way Soundwave appears in the film, featuring a different angling for the panels on his shoulders. It's not a big change, but transforming the toy in accordance with his movie appearance does help to distinguish the jet from the satellite a little, since otherwise, virtually the only difference is in the positioning of the large panel "wings".
**Accessories: Ravage missile
:Part of the "N.E.S.T. Global Alliance" campaign, Revenge of the Fallen "Infiltration Soundwave" is another redeco of the Deluxe Class Soundwave mold, this time in dark blue and dark gray, plus bright red that simulates the intense heat of orbital reentry. He also comes with new light-piping that isn't painted over.

:Soundwave is included in a two-pack with Battlefield Bumblebee, a retooling of Cannon Bumblebee with a new battle mask head. Also included is a "Mission Guide" catalog and ordering form for the mail-in exclusive Recon Ravage, a "starter sticker" for said ordering form, and a N.E.S.T. Global Alliance iron-on patch. Two additional stickers from specially-marked N.E.S.T. Global Alliance products and $4.95 shipping are required for the promotion. Sadly, this promotion does not exist in Europe or Australia, but Recon Ravage was made available in the latter country as a Toys"R"Us exclusive.

:Surprisingly, the package does not recognize his Cybertron jet mode, instead only acknowledging his satellite mode. His instructions do still mention his jet mode, though.
:Part of a Walmart exclusive pack alongside Bumblebee and Rodimus, Cyberverse Soundwave is a redeco of the Revenge of the Fallen Legends Class Soundwave, with a new deco inspired by the Toys"R"Us exclusive Gathering at Nemesis gift set (see above), which in turn was heavily influenced by Generation 1 Soundwave. The toy is mostly blue and gray, with some gold, red, and silver paint details here and there.

:This three-pack was also available as an Asda exclusive in the United Kingdom and from Rossmann stores in Germany and Auchan stores in Hungary and Italy. Of note is that the European packaging does not market Rodimus as a "bonus figure" (presumably so stores can charge full price for three toys), and his window lacks the yellow edges highlighting him as a special feature, despite still being separated from Bumblebee and Soundwave, who share a common window like in the US version. Despite this, Rodimus still doesn't get a mention on the back of the packaging, which only features a one-sentence "bio" about Bumblebee planning to bring down Soundwave in twelve different languages.

: All versions of the packaging also lack any logos that label the toys as Cyberverse products.
:Part of the sixth wave of Dark of the Moon Deluxe-Class MechTech figures, Soundwave transforms from an officially licensed Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG into a robot. In vehicle mode, he has two MechTech ports on the roof. His large "Sonic Cannon" can transform into an equally large "Interceptor Dish". In robot mode, Soundwave has MechTech ports in each hand and one on each shoulder, and he also has C joint bars on each leg. He features fake kibble as well, with his vehicle mode front grille being switched out and tucked away for a warped robot mode grille-chest.

:The sixth wave of Dark of the Moon Deluxe Class figures was released in Japan on December 21, whilst the US release, along with that of Human Alliance Soundwave, was ultimately cancelled. At San Diego Comic-Con 2012, Hasbro stated that they were trying to find ways to get the figures out to American retailers; this ultimately never came to pass.

:The instructions also depict a head resembling a movie-fied version of Blaster, but sadly the retool was never released. The prototype was revealed at 2017.
**Japanese ID number: DD09
**Accessories: Mr. Gould, Laserbeak, missile
:A new Human Alliance mold of Dark of the Moon Soundwave transforms into his SLS AMG mode. He has "SUPERIOR" tampographed on his license plate and comes with Laserbeak and Mr. Gould.

:As is usual for any Human Alliance figure, Gould (or any other "driver" figure) can can sit on Soundwave's seats in vehicle mode or stand on his hands in robot mode.

:Laserbeak can also transform into a spring-loaded missile-firing cannon for Gould to man, and the cannon itself can be pegged into any of Soundwave's six MechTech ports: two ports on his shoulders (his right shoulder is the nominal choice, as per the instructions), a port on top of each of his upper arms, and (rather awkwardly) a port on the sonic cannons on each of his lower arms. In bird mode, Laserbeak can also perch on either of the (flipped out) seats on Soundwave's lower arms via a molded-in C joint bar on the seats themselves and the bar clips on Laserbeak's heels.

:The pair of sonic cannons on the top of his left lower arm is also a panel that can be flipped open (up to 90 degrees), but since this is undocumented in the instructions, is only usable in robot mode, and doesn't appear to have anything inside it, its purpose remains unknown.

:Finally, as with all large Human Alliance toys, he has a gimmick concerning his head. It is essentially the same gimmick as Barricade's: his jointed head allows him to open and close his mouth.

:Due to his transformation, he ends up being much smaller than most Human Alliance toys despite being the largest in the film out of the others. He trades his more accurate bulkiness for incredible shortness, being dwarfed by almost all HA toys that transform into sports cars.

:As with many late-wave DOTM products, this toy was not released in the US.
:Movie Trilogy Soundwave was renamed Darkside Soundwave, and was finally released in June 2014 in Japan as part of the Movie Advanced Series! Unlike its predecessor, the large "Sonic Cannon" that was included in the initial release was absent from this release, and Darkside Soundwave actually does not contain any accessories at all. Bummer.
**Accessories: Doombox Titan Master partner, spotlight/rocket-sled, rifle, shoulder cannon
:Bumblebee Greatest Hits Soundwave is a retool of Titans Return Soundwave, who is in turn a retool of Titans Return Blaster. The figure comes with his Titan Master partner, Doombox, who transforms into his head. In addition to his classic robot and boombox alternate modes, he can also transform into a "city mode" that can link up to the other base modes in Titans Return, and features numerous 5 mm mounting points for weapons and Titan Master vehicles and turrets, as well as tiny pegs to accommodate many other Titan Master figures.

:In addition to his rifle, Soundwave also comes with his signature cannon "battery", which can plug into his shoulder, or store on his back while he is in alt mode. He includes a kind of "rocket-sled" with a seat for a Titan Master pilot which forms the topmost turret of his base mode. The sled stores inside Soundwave's chest compartment in other modes; a notch is cut into its underside to store Doombox while Soundwave is in boombox mode. Much like the Titans Return figures he is based on, Soundwave possesses the gimmick of being able to store any of the five Titans Return 'cassettes' inside his chest, as well as Combiner Wars Buzzsaw and the concurrently-released Movie Cassettes Howlback, Buzzsaw, and Frenzy. He has several (non-functional) ports molded into his back and legs capable of accommodating real-life USB cables, headphone jacks, and power cables.
He also comes with his own Energon Core, which allows Soundwave's vehicle mode to zip in fast speed. Amusingly, the Igniter Core is molded after a boombox, and a sticker mural of a black jaguar and an eagle also homages Ravage and Laserbeak.

:The first Studio Series Soundwave is accurate to his appearance in Dark of the Moon, transforming into a fully-licensed Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG in 19 steps. He comes with a non-transforming, mostly-unpainted (aside from red eyes) Laserbeak figure—which can connect to Soundwave's arm using a C joint, or to his vehicle mode roof—along with a cardboard backdrop depicting the Decepticon camp in Namibia, Africa.

:His headlight piece has a tendency to pop off during transformation to robot mode, thanks to some extremely tight clearances, and his metallic silver paint (which effectively coats him) is prone to chipping in those spots. Soundwave also has molded drilled-rotor brake discs and brake calipers, a surprising detail for a mainline Transformers figure. For safety reasons, his face, hands, and knee spikes are molded in soft plastic.

:In what is most likely a coincidence, Laserbeak's car roof connection tab is the perfect size to fit in Soundwave's wheel rims, allowing him to perch on either of his shoulders (or his legs, if you're feeling creative) while in robot mode.

:Like the rest of the Deluxe figures in the same wave, Soundwave first saw release at Toys"R"Us shops in Malaysia and independent retailers in Hong Kong.
**Accessories: Translucent stand, "Orbital Espionage" backdrop

:The second version of Studio Series Soundwave represents his appearance in Revenge of the Fallen, transforming from a robot to a Cybertronian satellite in 10 steps. This makes him the least complex figure in the line. He comes with a translucent stand and a cardboard backdrop display depicting Earth's orbit, the place where he resided during the film.

:Soundwave's thighs, shoulders, biceps and upper torso skeleton, are re-used from the Dark of the Moon toy above. The forearms were redesigned to have solar panels and slightly different "speaker" detailing, while also excluding the connectors for Laserbeak to purch on. Despite the Studio Series line's goal of being screen-accurate, the short length of his solar panels means that he is actually less accurate than his original Revenge of the Fallen Deluxe Class toys. His robot mode design had also been completely revamped from it's original design, which until 2020, had been the basis for his appearances in the IDW movie comics and various other forms of tie-in media. That being said, his robot mode was never shown in the Revenge of the Fallen film and there have been a number of toys released of characters who did not have robot modes on-screen.

:An undocumented step in transformation that appears illustrated in the instructions and miraculously shifts itself during the final steps is the panel hanging from his rear sitting higher on his back in robot mode. The way to achieve this is by untabbing the hinged section from a port in his... butt... and hinging it up, making the panel sit further away from the backs of his legs, which in turn, positions the panel slightly higher on his back. It's a very minor difference and it's not very rewarding, but it does exist one way or another and being illustrated in the robot mode design in the instructions suggests that it may have been intentional.

:Amusingly, despite the Studio Series line's emphasis on proper scale, this Soundwave stands nearly a full head taller than the prior release from Dark of the Moon above.

:Unusually, he does not include a non-transforming figurine of Ravage, yet Grindor does.

:Part of the 15th wave of Studio Series Voyager Class toys, Soundwave is an extremely accurate depiction of his appearance in the Bumblebee film. He transforms into... something that coincidentally evokes his alternate mode in Transformers vs. G.I. Joe "I Saw Three Ships". He comes with his blaster and signature shoulder cannon, the latter of which can store to the side in vehicle mode.

:Studio Series Core Class Ravage in his Cybertronian cassette mode can store in Soundwave's chest, allowing him to "eject" Ravage. Ravage also includes a missile based on "Generation 1" Soundwave's, which can presumably attach to Soundwave's weapon barrels.

:Like all other Studio Series toys, the interior of the package is a display backdrop, the design of which depicts a war-torn Cybertron as it appears in the beginning of the film.
:Robot Powered Machines Soundwave is a small, non-transforming pseudo-Scion XB with his robot mode sculpted underneath. Said robot mode resembles another Soundwave for some reason. The car's wheels feature through-axle construction for speedy racing on flat surfaces. Unlike other RPMs, Soundwave, along with the rest of the Metal Heroes, is made of die-cast metal.

:RPM Soundwave is probably the most homage-heavy Transformer ever produced: he has Animated Soundwave's alt mode and a mix between his regular and Electrostatic incarnations "tattoos", War for Cybertron Soundwave's robot mode (which in turn was heavily based on G1 Soundwave) and despite this, the bio and toyline clearly identify him as ROTF Soundwave. You can try and add Cybertron Soundwave to the list if you want, but that would be overkill.

:This toy's American release and the rest of the Metal Heroes were canceled in favor of the Speed Stars versions of the toys. They have been released in the Philippines, New Zealand and Mexico (at a discounted price compared to past RPM releases), however. Both versions were eventually available at retail in those countries.
Namely, the Speed Stars version lacks paint in the doors and tail lights, as well as the chest, arms, legs and face of the "robot" mode. The plastic at the bottom of the car is cast in gold instead of bronze. This version also lacks the "Soundwave-Audio" written on the lower part of the doors. The red that borders the rims of his wheels is also not as bright or vibrant.

:This toy was given away free as part of a Daily Mirror promotion in the UK.
Like the smaller Metal Heroes toy, Soundwave has Animated Soundwave's Scion XB altmode and features War for Cybertron Soundwave on his packaging.
First revealed at New York Toy Fair 2018, Studio Series, underneath the Generations banner, acts as a celebration of over ten years of live-action movies, with characters from every movie represented. It also coincided with Bumblebee, the sixth film in the live-action film series.

Each toy is numbered, with an indication of their movie of origin. All figures also come with a cardboard backdrop depicting a notable scene from their respective movie. Backdrops from separate figures representing the same scene are designed to be displayed side by side.

With rough robot mode scale as a line-wide goal, each figure is sized in relation to other toys, even in the same size class; 18 Deluxe Bumblebee is shorter than Jazz and 01 Bumblebee, who are in turn shorter than Ratchet and Lockdown.

The toyline boosts a greater accuracy than lines previous, due to using relative scale, as mentioned above, and using models in the films for reference as opposed to concept art, though this does fall short for early Bumblebee toys. Studio Series also explores toys for characters who had none before, or were left to a smaller size class.

In 2021, Studio Series started to include the additions of characters from The Transformers: The Movie, in celebration of the film's 35th anniversary. These toys feature a separate numbering system in Hasbro markets that utilizes "86" before the number of the respective figure. The '86 figures follow the same style, scale and play pattern of those from the concurrently-ran War for Cybertron Trilogy toylines, complete with Fire Blast effects and 5 mm ports that can support Weaponizers and Fossilizers.

In 2022, Studio Series introduced the Core Class that was first introduced in the Kingdom line, putting in characters that are both smaller-sized versions of the core cast, as well as characters too small to be included in the Deluxe class.

These are even more complicated than usual, and that's before international releases come into play. Thundercracker was originally released as a worldwide Toys"R"Us exclusive, but due to the bankruptcy of Toys"R"Us in several countries, he only had a very short availability window in those markets. and was never added to the Toys"R"Us online store before the latter ceased operations. Likewise, the Bumblebee/Charlie 2-pack was originally intended as a Toys"R"Us exclusive but ultimately was only released that way in Canada, which still had Toys"R"Us by the time it came out. In the United States, both Thundercracker and the 2-pack were eventually made available through numerous online retailers such as BigBadToyStore, Entertainment Earth, ToyWiz, and TFSource, although the 2-pack was also inexplicably found at a single Target store several months earlier.

The Bumblebee Then & Now Two-pack was exclusive to Target and BigBadToyStore in the United States and to Kmart in Australia; the Bumblebee Vol. 1 Retro Rock Garage set debuted at San Diego Comic-Con 2018 and was later also made available via Hasbro Toy Shop (and additionally was also available at general retail in Taiwan and was offered at Comic-Con Paris 2018); and both the Bumblebee Vol. 2 Retro Pop Highway set and the Drift/Baby Dinobots set appear to be "online exclusives" shared between the same online retailers that also offered Thundercracker and the Bumblebee/Charlie 2-pack, although both were initially claimed to be exclusive to Entertainment Earth. We say "appear" because the Retro Pop Highway set was also available at GameStop stores in the United States, and both sets were also listed in Diamond Comic Distributors' Previews catalog, so really the only "exclusivity" for these appears to be that neither of them is available from Walmart or Target. Battle Damaged Megatron was first found stocked by Hong Kong shops, and much later, was put up for pre-order on Toys"R"Us' Canadian website, and then on Target's US website before being found in stores. "As Seen In Parks" Megatron was officially exclusive to Universal Studios, but was released (almost a year after he had been officially revealed) in Hasbro's Asian markets first. Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the toy was only released exclusively to online retailers in the US. Leadfoot was released as a Target exclusive in the US.

Similar to Power of the Primes, in Takara's Studio Series (スタジオシリーズ) line, all figures are identical to their Hasbro counterparts, forgoing Takara's past practice of using more movie-accurate paint jobs. This is most likely due to the line being an official collaboration between Hasbro and TakaraTomy, much like the Masterpiece Movie Series line. ID numbering differs after number 8 compared to the Hasbro release, since some of the exclusives are not released in Japan. From wave 4 through wave 12, the packages featured the franchise's 35th anniversary logo.

In 2021, Takara decided to go back to its old ways and launched the exclusive Premium Finish toyline, featuring rereleases of some Studio Series figures with much more movie-accurate decoes.
Notes
*Studio Series can be considered a "sister series" to Hasbro's Star Wars: The Black Series and Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years, which are based around a similar concept and feature a similar overall packaging design.
*In July 2017, photos of a computer screen taken during an internal Hasbro presentation were leaked to the public that revealed, among other things, the very existence of the Studio Series general retail line-up, though not the actual title "Studio Series" yet (which was later revealed through separate leaks). The fact that the slides incorrectly featured projected release dates for "2017" instead of 2018 (which included dates predating the leak) led some fans to assume that the still unannounced line-up had long since been canceled. It wouldn't be until several leaks later that Hasbro finally acknowledged the existence of the Studio Series line, and revealed the first few waves during New York Toy Fair 2018, even offering a limited quantity of the first wave of Deluxe Class figures as an early release through the Hasbro Toy Shop website. Simultaneously, TakaraTomy revealed their version of the line at Wonder Festival Winter 2018.
*Among the figures whose existence was revealed through the aforementioned July 2017 leak that were not officially unveiled at Toy Fair was Voyager Class Ironhide, who made his worldwide debut at retail in Singapore in June 2018. Subsequently, Hasbro announced the redeco of Voyager Class Starscream (based on his appearance in Revenge of the Fallen), the final figure revealed through the July 2017 leak, via their "Hasbro Pulse" Instagram account a few days before San Diego Comic-Con, even though they still hadn't officially acknowledged the existence of Ironhide by that point.
* Like with previous movie-based lines, Studio Series also assigned code names to at least some of its characters. This time, the "theme" for those code names was "Australian race horses":

:The code names of many of the other figures, assuming they even had code names, are still unknown, as those toys have (thus far) consistently been listed under their actual characters' names. Meanwhile, a listing for a supposed Voyager Class figure using the code name "Destroyer" later turned out to be a mislabeled Energon Igniters Speed Series Barricade from the Bumblebee movie toy line, with which the Studio Series shares its code names.
*A few of the Voyagers and Deluxes of the previous two movie toylines scale fairly well with Studio Series figures. The latter of the two toylines, The Last Knight, seems to have a greater tie-in to the Studio Series lineup, as a few molds were also redecoed in this toyline as well as a few retools. Furthermore, the static figurine of Quintessa scales perfectly among these molds and also seems to serve as an inspiration for later pack-in figurines like Wheelie, Brains and the Mini Dinobots.
*Certain figures reuse packaging artwork from the last two movie toylines, as well as promotional renders for the first three films. There are also some artwork that retools existing renders for better screen accuracy.
*One of the biggest misconceptions surrounding the Studio Series toyline is that there is a subline called "Studio Series 86". This came about from leaked listings on Walmart's website where the number "86" was misinterpreted as part of the toyline's title, rather than the ID numbers of those toys. While the toys based on characters from the 1986 movie do feature a separate numbering system, the line itself doesn't acknowledge them as being any different from the live-action movie toys they are sold alongside.
**While it has never been confirmed, the move to include 1986 characters in the Studio Series toyline after three years of continuous focus on the live-action films, was likely done to allow Hasbro and TakaraTomy to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the film, without stepping on the toes of the Beast Wars 25th anniversary, which was celebrated as a part of the War for Cybertron Trilogy. Evidence suggesting this is the inclusion of some of the film's main characters (Cyclonus, Rodimus Prime and Galvatron) being sold in the concurrently-ran Kingdom toyline and the shared design aesthetics of the toys between both lines.
**It is also very likely that the '86 toys in the Studio Series toyline were originally meant to be sold in the Kingdom toyline alongside their movie co-stars and the Beast Wars characters as part of a combined anniversary line, but with the COVID 19 pandemic and the halt on worldwide distribution, delays were made and the waves for Earthrise were cut short, leaving products that were presumably intended for the line being held back for their eventual release in Kingdom.
