Tomax and Xamot accompanied [[Cobra Commander]] to the facility in [[Boston]] to test out their teleportation device using a link with [[Teletran 3]]. However, the [[G.I. Joe (team)|G.I. Joe]] team interfered, and thanks to their attack, the device malfunctioned and transported them all to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], before going haywire and transporting [[Transformer]]s across time. [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] tried to destroy the gathered humans, but a timely rescue by [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] and [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] put an end to it. When Ultra Magnus asked the humans for help, the twins were the first to realize that it meant G.I. Joe and Cobra would have to call a truce and go rescue the time-lost Cybertronians. Tomax and Xamot teamed with [[Doctor Mindbender]], [[Barbecue]], and [[Spirit]] {{storylink|G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers II issue 1|G.I. Rescued from a [[Sweep (G1)|Sweep]] assault by the [[Dreadnok]]s, the team was shocked to realize they'd all died fifteen years prior in this timeline. The 'Noks took them to see their leader, a crippled, cyborg [[Duke (G.I. Joe)|Duke]], who refused to help in their task. The Dreadnok Torch, however, decided to help them as a means of avoiding this nightmare of a world from ever happening. As he helped them find a Cybertronian he only referred to as "The Autobot", the group was ambushed by a swarm of [[Insecticon (G1)|Insecticons]]. Revealing Cybertronian upgrades for themselves, the twins linked up their arms and fired devastating beams with their opposite hands, wiping out a hefty portion of the swarm. An EMP grenade from Torch took care of the rest, but next they encountered a horde of Ravage-esque robots. With Torch being out of EMP grenades and the twins not being able to use their weapon upgrade for another half-hour, things looked grim. Fortunately, they were again rescued, this time by "The Autobot"...[[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]]!

One quick explanation later, Ratchet refused to return to the present with them until he saved a number of enslaved humans from a Decepticon factory. The Joes and Cobras were reluctantly forced to agree. Using Ratchet as a distraction, Xamot and Tomax managed to use their link-up blast to destroy one of three Reflector guards, and while Ratchet fought the remaining two, the team rescued the humans and ensured their safe escape. Following the rescue, Ratchet refused to leave because even if he went back, they might still not be able to stop Shockwave from using Teletran 3 to burn [[Earth]] and leave it ripe for conquest. Fed up with Ratchet, [[Barbecue]] decided to stop asking and simply stuck the recall device on him, taking them all back to present-day Cybertron, where Ratchet was promptly blasted by Shockwave. Realizing Ultra Magnus's force field had failed and they were now in Decepticon hands, the twins attempted a link-up, but Tomax was shot and killed by Shockwave. Xamot found himself rescued along with a few others, but remained in shock from the death of Tomax. After [[Roadblock (G.I. Joe)|Roadblock]] and [[Lady Jaye]] managed to hit the recall button for the last team, who brought the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] along with them, Shockwave's forces were pushed back and the humans were allowed to return to Earth, Xamot included. {{storylink|G.I. Tomax and Xamot were two of the many Cobra operatives hidden away in [[Springfield (G.I. Joe)|Springfield]], a Cobra Base disguised as a quaint little town. They overpowered [[Roadblock (G.I. Joe)|Roadblock]], and were about to take him out, when several Joes flew in and joined the fight. Outnumbered, the twins were forced to surrender. {{storylink|I Saw Three Ships}} They were later busted out of their cell in [[Blackwater Prison]] by Cobra Commander {{storylink|Everybody Hates Metroplex}} who went on to lead the twins and an army of monstrous snake-men in a chaotic brawl against the Joes and [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] near the [[United Nations]] building. {{storylink|Expelled from the Garden}}

When [[Billy (G.I. Joe)|Billy]] brought a bloodied and defeated [[Snake-Eyes]] to [[Silent Castle]] as a gift for Cobra Commander, Tomax and Xamot were among those present, rejoicing over the ninja's defeat. He didn't do a very good job of it and Cobra eventually collapsed after G.I Joe used mercenaries and deep cover tactics to bring the organization down from the inside. {{storylink|The Iron Klaw}}

After Cobra collapsed, [[Iron Klaw|Count van Rani]] appointed Tomax as the interim CEO of [[I.R.O.N.]] following the public disappearance of [[Merklynn|Garrison Kreiger]]. Hoping to leave his time with Cobra behind him, Tomax found that he couldn't bury his past as easily as he thought—after Kreiger and van Rani got involved in [[Joe Colton|Baron Ironblood]]'s anti-[[Transformer]] [[Iron Ring]], Tomax was visited by Ironblood and [[Mercy Gale|Doctor X]], who warned him that a group of heroes had discovered Kreiger's connections to I.R.O.N. and would soon trace their illicit activities involving the [[Talisman (G1)|Talisman]] to Tomax's company. Tomax and Centurion were sent to I.R.O.N.'s [[San Francisco]] headquarters to recover the data on Kreiger's "[[Project Ice Man|Project: Ice Man]]" experiments in preparation for an upcoming invasion of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. In the meantime, however, [[Ayana Jones]] and her team met up with [[Snake-Eyes]], who disguised himself as Tomax to infiltrate van Rani's [[Iron Castle|castle]]. Using data obtained from van Rani's castle, the Revolutionaries learned where the real Tomax had gone and pursued him to the United States. Realizing that they'd been compromised, Ironblood made the decision to scrub Paoli and Centurion and abandon the Ice Man mission. {{storylink|The Iron Klaw}}

Tomax arrived at the I.R.O.N. building in San Francisco, where, after firing his [[Violet (IDW)|secretary]] to keep her out of harm's way, he had a holographic conversation with Kreiger regarding Ironblood's sudden change of plans — Tomax would be bait to lead the heroes down a dead end while the rest of the Iron Ring continued on with their backup plan. Tomax donned the Cobra Commander uniform just in time to fight [[Ian Noble|Action Man]]. [[Kup (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Kup]] joined the fight, which prompted Centurion to break cover and take on his fellow Cybertronian. After chasing him through the building while ignoring his attempts to make small talk, Action Man and Ayana took down Tomax by nicking him in the throat — the only non-bulletproof part of his suit. Even after taking him into custody, Paoli was unable to give the team any new information regarding the conspiracy around the Talisman, {{storylink|Strange Visitors}} but was able to supply them with the code required to breach Kreiger's Ice Man facility in [[Brasnya]]. {{storylink|Power and Glory}}
