In their base form, these mass-produced androids make up the bulk of Skynet's army, immensely durable soldiers capable of shrugging off most small-arms fire. What really gives them the edge, however, are their infiltration abilities: when sheathed in a layer of vat-grown artificial flesh, these robots are able to pass themselves off as living, breathing [[human]]s, right down to their synthetic blood. Although this trick is of negligible use against the [[Decepticon]]s, it ''does'' allow them to be sent [[Time travel|backwards in time]] to carry out "termination" missions without attracting undue attention.

The T-800s were created at some point after [[1984]], following the initial Decepticon invasion of [[Earth]]. To fight back, humanity united under [[Skywatch]], an international anti-Transformer alliance, and developed the [[Skynet]] supercomputer network and an army of human-built, anti-Transformer hardware that included the T-800s. Although Skynet's robotic troops were versatile fighters, able to overwhelm the aliens with their numbers, their efforts proved insufficient and [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]'s forces eventually conquered the planet and destroyed humanity. Skynet only survived by feigning surrender, but secretly began constructing a time machine that would allow it to retroactively win the war. {{storylink|Enemy of My Enemy Part Two}}

By the year [[2029]], Skynet had completed its [[time displacement device]] as its dwindling armies of T-800s and [[T-8000]]s fought a losing battle against the Decepticons. This Terminator arrived in the year [[1984]], in the city of [[Los Angeles]], mere hours before the fateful eruption of [[Mount St. Hilary]]. The T-800 promptly disguised itself by killing a trucker and taking his clothes—in the process, inadvertently saving the young waitress [[Sarah Connor]]. After commandeering the man's truck, the Terminator kidnapped her and ordered her to guide him to the volcano in [[Oregon]]. The pair drove to Oregon and discovered that the volcano had already begun erupting; undeterred, the T-800 veered their truck off the road and drove it straight into the ''[[Ark (G1)|Ark]]'', taking the time to shoot down a [[Sky Spy]] probe as he did so. The octopus-like [[alien]]s known as the '''Voin''' are a fiercely individualistic race—an issue not helped by their strange culture and ethics, which makes the inner workings of their society something of a mystery to all but the most experienced Cybertronian diplomats. Though the Voin are a naturally aquatic race, individual Voin can operate on land by using "slaved organics" to act as their hands and feet, directly controlling these genetically-engineered beings from their sealed bubbles of water.

Prior to the [[Great War (G1)|Great War]], the Cybertronian race had been in contact with the Voin for some time, long enough to have dedicated diplomats, specialists trained to understand their strange morals. Cybertronians without stubstantial training were discouraged from prolonged interaction with the aliens, with several guides warning that it was possible to inadvertently diverge sensitive information or make deals without their knowing it. By pure coincidence, Rubble encountered the same Voin again while wandering through the Xeno-Quarter; hoping that he could make a difference to the ongoing investigation, the little Cybertronian pursued the alien deeper into the tangled streets of the district... but, by the time had caught up with it, Ascenticon operative [[Quake (G1)|Quake]] had already found and murdered the alien, shattering its watery tank and crushing the cephalopod in his fist. Along with Rubble's, the Voin's corpse was brought to a laboratory for an autopsy. One of the most refined and sophisticated Decepticons around '''Slog''' is. Originally recruited to produce great works of art he was, the glory and recording the rise of the great [[Decepticon Empire]] he praised. Soon, discovered his masters did that just as well he worked in the battlefield as in a studio, and like [[Buzzsaw (G1)|Buzzsaw]] before him, an artist of the warzone Slog became, Autobots into abstract modern art "masterpieces" he carved.

A grotesque monster Slog might appear to be, given his artwork. In fact, fights only when he must to stay alive he does, and make each fallen foe a work of art to honor their memory he tries. A warrior at heart he is not, the wild abandon of creating destructive art from non-living material he likes, but troubled by the lives lost in the Autobot/Decepticon conflict he remains. This troubled spirit it was, lead to the founding of the [[Slogism]] movement it did. The utilization of his work by the Autobots and his general doubts about the cause have put him on the outs with his superiors. Because care about how others view them, the Decepticons do.

Like [[Windcharger (G1)|Windcharger]] before him, a powerful magnetic ability Slog wields. Uses it to manipulate and tear other robots apart he does.

With his fellow [[Pretender Monster]]s he combines when [[Monstructor (G1)|Monstructor]] they form.

In [[Primax 490.0 Gamma|an alternate future]] where the Decepticons had conquered much of Earth, Slog and his fellow Pretender Monsters were led by [[Galvatron II|Galvatron]] to the remains of [[New York City]]
in an attempt to root out the last remaining vestiges of Autobot and human resistance. All they managed to find, however, was a human-made booby trap that buried [[Icepick (G1)|Icepick]] under tons of debris. Slog exited his Pretender shell to dig out his comrade, reflecting that Galvatron's madness would ultimately destroy
them all.

Not long later, he and the others rejoined the Decepticons to defend the Decepticon Powerbase against an Autobot attack. Slog's role in the battle, and its final outcome, is unknown.

Created by [[Jhiaxus (G2)|Jhiaxus]] under the direction of [[Nova Prime]], they were intended to be the ultimate fusion of mind and body, a vast amount of intellect combined with unparalleled strength. Unfortunately, they were driven into insanity by the merging process and became monsters. {{storylink|Primus: All Good Things|All Good Things}} After Nova Prime departed Cybertron aboard the ''Ark'', [[Omega Supreme (G1)|Omega Supreme]] locked them in a dimensionally-displaced prison to live out the rest of their horrid existence. Eventually, they escaped and tracked down and attacked Omega Supreme, but were defeated by [[Optimus Prime (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Optimus Prime]] and split apart into their individual bodies. During the [[Great War (G1)|Great War]], Mesothulas created Ostaros as the first member of what he saw as a new breed of life. At some point, Mesothulas's partner [[Prowl (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Prowl]] had a crisis of conscience as their collaborative efforts grew increasingly depraved, so after throwing Mesothulas into his own [[Noisemaze]], Prowl destroyed the lab, taking the innocent Ostaros along with him.

Using his connections in the Autobot military, Prowl falsified some records for Ostaros and had him [[Insignia|Autobrand]]ed. According to Prowl, Ostaros died on the battlefield without anybody learning about his real origins.

After Mesothulas, now calling himself Tarantulas, reunited with his old partner, he demanded to know what had happened to his experiment. When Megatron was about to test his newest weapon, the [[Solar Scalpel]], Starscream alerted him to a shuttle of Autobots that would make the perfect guinea pigs. Starscream lambasted his leader for destroying only their shuttle, but Megatron retorted that he wanted the Autobots to see their doom coming. Lacking the skills necessary to fix the Decepticons' malfunctioning space brige, Starscream instead went out on patrol and came upon Hot Shot and several of the Autobot Mini-Cons travelling from [[Big Sur National Park]] to [[San Francisco]] and decided to follow, unaware he himself was being followed by Thrust. Blasting the Autobots out of the sky as they arrived at the construction site, Starscream spotted an [[Over-Run (Armada)|unfamiliar Mini-Con]] and made a bid to grab him, only to be knocked unconscious by a blow from behind delivered by the mysterious [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]]. {{Storylink|Worlds Collide, Part 1 of 4}}

When Leader-1 discovered the Autobots were scanning [[transwarp|subspace]] for the absent Optimus Prime, Megatron decided to strike [[Autobase|Autobase: Earth]]. Starscream fired the opening shot in the battle that followed, destroying the computer console Red Alert was stationed at and felling Red himself, but was prevented from delivering a killing blow by Megatron, who wanted to finish off the Autobot himself. The Decepticons eventually retreated after Megatron bested Galvatron, but were soon contacted by the returned Optimus Prime with the proposal of an alliance against Galvatron's master, the world-eating being known as [[Unicron]]. The Decepticons agreed, and everyone returned to Cybertron to prepare for the coming battle, but when Unicron appeared in the skies over their homeworld, and incredulous Starscream refused to fight, and was sure that he had seen the last of Megatron when he jetted off into the fight. Ten years later, in the wake of the unification of Autobots and Decepticons following Unicron's defeat, Starscream had tried to ingratiate himself with [[Tidal Wave (Armada)|Tidal Wave]] and the rest of the remaining Decepticons. His wheedling didn't last long, though, as [[Scorponok (Energon)|Scorponok]] showed up and promptly blasted him into an Energon ore processor, which ground his body down and smelted what remained. {{storylink|This Evil Reborn}} Contrary to appearances, however, this would not be the last of Starscream: later, during the [[Terrorcon (Energon)|Terrorcon]] attack on Earth, he returned in a new form, the bizarre circumstances of his death having somehow allowed him to transcend death as an Energon "ghost" of sorts. The 'Cons scattered at the sight of a "ghost", while Starscream drained Dropshot dry. He then targeted the Mini-Con [[Over-Run (Armada)|Over-Run]], having sensed his connection to the Energon-rich core of Cybertron and intending to feed on it through him. {{storylink|Armageddon Part 1}} After killing Over-Run, Starscream battled with the [[Omnicon]]s, and proved to be more than a match for their [[Energon weapon]]s, which only made him stronger. Starscream was originally revolted by the idea of powerlinking, but came to accept it when he realised the power the Mini-Cons could provide him. He doesn't entirely trust Swindle, suspecting he may just be "fattening him up for the kill", but knows they make a powerful team together.

According to [[Tidal Wave (Armada)|Tidal Wave]], Starscream botched the first mission they went on together on Cybertron, and left him for dead in the process. Tidal Wave has carried a grudge against Starscream ever since, which was only magnified when he discovered that Starscream had allegedly developed a fondness for human beings. Starscream accompanied the Decepticons to Earth in the year 2010, but his relationship with his leader was a troubled one; where Starscream craved Megatron's respect, Megatron gave him not one ounce of it, consistently berating and even brutalizing him in some kind of twisted attempt to drive him to realize the Decepticon potential he could see within the younger 'bot. Granted control of the [[Star Saber (Armada)|Star Saber]] but abandoned on the battlefield as part of a feint scheme, Starscream turned against his comrades and sided with the Autobots—not out of any desire to do good, but because he hoped they would help him destroy Megatron. Although he befriended the Autobots' young human allies—[[Alexis Thi Dang]] in particular—and appeared to slowly be coming around to their way of thinking, he fell victim to the manipulations of [[Thrust (Armada)|Thrust]] and [[Sideways (RID)|Sideways]], who tricked him into returning to the Decepticon fold. When the threat of [[Unicron]] appeared, however, Starscream could see that the only way forward was for Autobots and Decepticons to unite under Optimus Prime's leadership. Coming to a fatal decision, Starscream challenged Megatron to one last battle for respect, then attacked Unicron himself, sacrificing his life to convince his leader of the threat the chaos-bringer posed.

Ten years later, Starscream was resurrected by the alien [[Alpha Quintesson|Alpha Q]] using the power of [[Energon]], sans his memories, with the intent that he destroy Optimus Prime and Megatron both. But Megatron was able to harness Unicron's power and even further mindwipe Starscream, transforming him—ironically enough—into his most loyal soldier in the war for Energon. When Megatron hurled himself into an Energon sun to entrap Unicron's spark, Starscream plunged into the star alongside his leader, and was believed dead. However, in 2030, when the sun collapsed into a [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]], Starscream and Megatron were freed, and Starscream—his mind now his own once more—had a new ambition: to take leadership of the Decepticons for himself. He opted to bide his time at first, supervising the search for the [[Omega Lock]] on Earth while Megatron sought out the [[Cyber Planet Key]]s, but when he located an army of [[Ancient Decepticon]]s, he made his big move. In a final battle with Megatron on the planet Gigantion, Starscream disappeared in a reality-sundering discharge of energy, apparently swept away across the dimensions.

The enraged Mini-Con [[Dualor (Armada)|Dualor]] sought revenge by luring the Decepticons into a attacking an Autobot outpost, planning to blow them all up; Starscream, Cyclonus and Megatron took the bait, but Dualor's plan failed thanks to interference from [[Sparkplug (Armada)|Sparkplug]]. {{storylink|Panini Armada issue 9|Counter-Strike!}}

Although the Mini-Cons would later abandoned the planet, the war continued after their departure. In one of many battles, Starscream strafed some Autobots, but was shot down by [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]]'s trailer cannon despite his Mini-Con augmentation. Knowing that the Mini-Con trio enjoyed saving humans, he arranged for a satellite to fall on [[Chicago]] to draw them out. True to their nature, the Air Defense Team showed up and diverted the satellite, letting Starscream attack and capture [[Jetstorm (Armada)|Jetstorm]]. Unfortunately, an Autobot team showed up and saved the Mini-Cons, but Starscream had still managed to plant a tracking device on Jetstorm. {{storylink|Panini Armada issue 5|Devices and Desires!}} Following his tracker, he soon found and ambushed the Air Defense Team again, successfully capturing them, shutting off their personality chips and combining them into the powerful [[Star Saber (Armada)|Star Saber]]. Unsatisfied with even the sword, Starscream went after the [[Street Action Mini-Con Team (Armada)|Street Action Mini-Con Team]] to ensure he had enough power to best Megatron. They resisted and attacked Starscream in the form of [[Perceptor (Armada)|Perceptor]], and he fought back with his new Star Saber. However, disengaging Air Defense Team's personalities had been a mistake — without them, the Star Saber's power soon went wild. Lightning filled the air and Starscream began panicking as he couldn't let go of the weapon, but thankfully Optimus Prime took it from him and separated it. While Cyclonus and an army of [[Decepticlone]]s kept the Autobots busy, Starscream snuck away from the combat and managed to unearth the relic, which turned out to be a [[Data-Con]]. The device contained a recording left by the Mini-Cons that provided a flight plan and tracking codes for their vessel, which Starscream intended to keep for himself. However, just as he was attempting to perform a deep-space probe to locate the craft's current resting place, either by coincidence or consequence, a Mini-Con distress beacon screamed to life, alerting all the other combatants to the Mini-Cons' current location. After the Autobots relocated to Earth to escape the [[Unicron Singularity|gigantic black hole]] that was threatening Cybertron, Starscream and [[Thundercracker (Armada)|Thundercracker]] tracked them down. Optimus Prime and [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]] intercepted the Decepticon pair before they could discover the location of their base, but in the mid-air combat that ensued, the villains' [[Cyber Key]] powers allowed them to gain the upper hand. Impaling Optimus Prime through the shoulder with his Cyber Key swords, Starscream broke off the battle and retraced the Autobots' flight path, looking for their base, evening managing to shoot Prime down when he attempted to pursue. In [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]]'s lab, [[Starscream (WFC)|Starscream]] bemoans his current situation, having to compete with [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]] for [[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]]'s favor. His whining is interrupted by moans from [[Silas|Cylas]], who is strapped to a table and begging to be freed. Knock Out injects him with a derivative of the [[Synthetic Energon|synthetic energon]] he recovered from the [[Autobot]]s. The compound drives Cylas into a rage, which Knock Out notes is one of its erratic side effects. Starscream sees in Cylas' fury the makings of a super-soldier for Megatron.

Starscream attempts to inform Megatron of this discovery, but the [[Decepticon]] leader is only interested in discussing the status of the [[Predacon (Prime)|Predacon]] [[protoform]]s with Shockwave, who is reporting in from his off-site lab. Brushed off by his leader as unimportant, Starscream sulks on his way back to Knock Out's lab.

Cylas becomes more enraged with each new injection of Synth En. Knock Out discovers that the more the compound is administered, the faster Cylas burns through his own natural [[energon]] reserves. Starscream cannot see the use of having [[Predaking (Prime)|another]] unruly beast that can't be controlled, but then has an idea: [[Dark Energon]]. Knock Out objects, noting that the "Blood of [[Unicron]]" once turned their own ship against them, and that he would need approval from Shockwave in any case. Starscream assures the doctor that a controlled, minimal injection will merely place Cylas under Megatron's command, via their leader's symbiotic link with the substance, then asserts that "super-soldiers" are a military concern and thus fall under ''his'' jurisdiction.

Under orders and under protest, Knock Out injects Cylas with the Dark Energon-enhanced formula. Cylas temporarily powers down before rebooting in a rage and breaking free from his bonds. But after only a few steps, he crumbles to his knees, desperately low on energon. Then with a fierce roar, his lower jaw splits into monstrous mandibles and a long, bladed tongue emerges, which he attempts to use on Starscream to drain him of energon. Unable to subdue him, Starscream and Knock Out flee down the halls of the ship.

Once a safe distance away, Knock Out suggests sounding the alarm. Starscream disagrees, not wanting Megatron to learn of their actions. He claims that once Cylas attempts to feed upon the ship's highly-trained [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]] troopers, they will take care of the threat.

Elsewhere, one of the Vehicons stumbles upon Cylas, who grabs the highly-trained trooper and begins draining his energon.

Starscream and Knock Out plan the disposal of Cylas' corpse when they find the Vehicon's corpse instead. While the two argue about who's to blame for their predicament, the dead Vehicon is reanimated by the Dark Energon in its system as a [[Terrorcon (Prime)|Terrorcon]] and reveals the same segmented jaw and bladed tongue that Cylas had. Starscream's blaster fire only staggers it, and Knock Out suggests destroying the Terrorcon's head, inspired by Human horror movies. Though Starscream's missile is successful in decapitating the creature, it doesn't stop it in the least, as the body lumbers forward with the tongue sticking out of the hole where the head used to be. A concentrated volley of blasts to the Vehicon's chest destroys the monster's revitalized spark, severing its link to the Dark Energon.

Knock Out posits that Cylas could infect the entire crew in the same manner, a theory that's borne out when they find themselves pursued by multiple energy-draining Terrorcons. Starscream and Knock Out lock themselves in a comm room to get a breather and assess the situation. Accepting that this may be the end, the two Decepticons exchange some awkward final pleasantries and step back into the hall…

…Right into Megatron, who demands to know why the Dark Energon in his spark has been acting strangely as of late. Starscream provides a slanted explanation, but Megatron doesn't believe it until he's forced to destroy an attacking Terrorcon.

After a more extensive debrief of the situation, Megatron puts the ship on high alert and orders Starscream and Knock Out to seek and destroy Cylas. Around the ship, Vehicons and [[Insecticon (Prime)|Insecticons]] battle the infected Terrorcons.

Cylas wanders into the ship's vault. Sensing energon within a [[stasis pod]], he breaks it open, freeing and reviving [[Airachnid (Prime)|Airachnid]]. Cylas attempts to drain her energon, though she ''barely'' ducks out of the way of his tongue, and a short battle ensues, but Airachnid is able to immobilize him with webbing long enough to deliver a fatal wound; ripping "[[Breakdown (WFC)|Breakdown]]" open in order to destroy his spark and make ''sure'' he's dead this time, Airachnid instead finds the mutilated real body of Cylas, who survives just long enough to thank her for freeing him from his tortured existence before dying. She immediately re-establishes her telepathic control over the Insecticons and commands them to return to her. Their sudden departure is noticed by [[Soundwave (WFC)|Soundwave]].

Starscream and Knock Out discover Cylas' corpse. Starscream is elated until Knock Out points out Airachnid's destroyed prison, followed by Megatron demanding a status update.

Airachnid leads the Insecticons through the halls of the ship, ordering them to wipe out every Decepticon aboard. At the end of the hall, Soundwave calmly steps forward to face them. The bug-bots attack, and Soundwave opens a [[space bridge]] directly in front of him at the last second. Before they can react, Airachnid and the Insecticons are teleported away. As the bridge closes behind her, Airachnid realizes that they have been sent to a moon orbiting the abandoned [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] and screams in rage.

Aboard the ''[[Trypticon (WFC)|Nemesis]]'', Megatron contacts Shockwave again to inform him they're implementing his containment protocol to prevent further outbreak. He also tells Shockwave to speed up the Predacon cloning project, as they have now lost more than half their military forces. Knock Out is sternly reminded that he is the ship's ''medic'' under Shockwave's command, and is forced to turn over all of his experimental projects to the scientist. Megatron then turns to Starscream, intent on teaching him a lesson the only way that seems to get through to him...

Back on the moon, an '''infected''' Airachnid drains the energon from one of her minions as the rest of the Insecticons line up obediently to await their turn.

For that matter, the headless Vehicon reveals that there is no "joint" on the model for the head to attach to, just a completely flat surface with a hole for the tongue. You normally don't see it because the neck just goes straight into the base of the collar, as if the collar form-fits around the neck.

* Starscream says that the ship is crawling with "highly-trained Vehicon troopers". Kinda makes you wonder what a poorly-trained one is like, huh?
* On-the-move teleportation seems as if it's becoming Soundwave's signature move, having used it to dispatch [[Arcee (WFC)|Arcee]] in "[[Orion Pax, Part 1]]" and to claim the Predacon fossil in "[[Project Predacon]]".

[[Ratchet (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Ratchet]] verifies the [[death clock]]'s scan of [[Tailgate (G1)|Tailgate]], sadly confirming that the little 'bot has a fatal case of [[cybercrosis]], brought about by nothing more than old age, which will kill him in just over three days. As the medic details the stages of the disease, including blindness, paralysis, and memory loss, Tailgate flees the medibay in a panic, racing back to his quarters, where he explains his news to [[Cyclonus (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Cyclonus]]. Cyclonus stoically advises Tailgate to make his peace and face death boldly, but then leaves the room in silence, and stops in the hallway to observe his reflection... which he almost punches in a sudden, furious rage, only to stop and instead tear gouges in his own face with his claws.

Examining security footage to determine what has become of the missing [[Ultra Magnus (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Ultra Magnus]], [[Hot Rod (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Rodimus]], [[Ambulon]] and [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]] observe as the comatose Magnus suddenly sits bolt upright with impossible speed and appears to ''float'' to the shuttle bay. [[Mainframe (G1)|Mainframe]] reports that the signal from the shuttle Magnus left in has been detected, and the ''[[Lost Light]]'' sets course after it, soon finding that it leads through a colossal wormhole. Rodimus informs the crew that the ship will be going through the portal, giving anyone who wishes the option not to come, but nobody takes it. The ship enters the portal, and what lurks on the other side proves beyond imagining: the lost satellite of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], [[Moonbase One|Luna 1]], alleged home to the answer to every question, found at last.

As Rodimus waits in his quarters, morosely examining unread messages from Ultra Magnus on his datapad, [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] enters to report his preliminary findings: a lifesign scan, amazingly, suggests the moon is home to a billion lifeforms. Rodimus handpicks a small team to join him on the first expedition to the moon, confidentially informing them that all he really wants to do is find out what became of Ultra Magnus: [[Rung]] (to fill Magnus's role and tell him things he doesn't want to hear); [[Brainstorm]]; [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]] (in case there's any fighting to be done, though Whirl suspects it's positive discrimination); [[Chromedome (G1)|Chromedome]] (who [[Skids (G1)|Skids]] urges to search the moon for a solution to his lost memories); Ratchet; and Cyclonus, for his familiarity with the creation myth that Luna 1 is part of. Cyclonus agrees to come only on the condition that Tailgate gets to accompany them, desiring to give his tiny friend a great experience before his death, but he cautions Tailgate to disabuse himself of the notion that the moon may hold a cure to his condition. [[Swerve (G1)|Swerve]] begs to come along, citing his metallurgical skills, but Rodimus refuses, accusing him of having abandoned that function to be a bartender.

Leaving the ''Lost Light'' under the stewardship of [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]], the Autobots head down to the moon and deploy in [[Mobile Autobot Repair Bay|M.A.R.B.]]s. They soon discover Magnus's shuttle, smashed open from the outside-in, but when Rodimus hops off the M.A.R.B. to examine it, his feet touching the moon's surface for the first time, the incredible happens: the entire moon lights up, as a billion [[spark]]s suddenly flare to life all over its surface. Luna 1, it transpires, is a gigantic "hot spot", a field where sparks are born, that has been fertilized after an ages-long wait when Rodimus touched it. As Rodimus wonders if the [[Matrix of Leadership|Matrix]]-half he is carrying could have been responsible, the other Transformers look in wonder on the field, the like of which Chromedome remarks had mostly ceased to be by his lifetime, since he was "constructed cold". Tailgate has heard this term thrown around a lot without understanding it, and the others explain that Chromedome was created using the energy from an extant spark, as opposed to "forged", born in a hot spot (which Whirl is eager to point out ''he'' was). Cyclonus calls the group's attention to a spark glowing green, which Brainstorm recognizes as a "superspark"—a vanishingly rare, insanely powerful [[Point One Percenter]]—and immediately begins excavating it over Perceptor's horrified protestations. Everyone discusses whether or not this is the right thing to do, but moral debates are promptly tabled by an explosive, unexpected arrival: a platoon of Decepticons led by [[Lockdown (G1)|Lockdown]], who descend from the sky, weapons blazing, decrying Rodimus's team as trespassers!

Back on the ''Lost Light'', the transmission from Rodimus's team is abruptly cut off, but Blaster and Maximus aren't sure if it's the moon or the ship that's being isolated. Down in the ship's oil reservoir, Skids is spending some time alone with this thoughts when suddenly, a familiar phrase gurgles out of the darkness: "Nineteen eighty-four". A platoon of the [[Legislator|giant golden warrior robots]] he last saw just before joining the ''Lost Light'' crew bursts out of the reservoir's black depths, chanting their familiar refrain... but that's not all. More of the robots appear all across the ship: in [[Swerve's]], which he has decided to close down; on the bridge; and everywhere in-between, these ones brandishing huge guns and declaring "Seventeen twenty-one".

''Rodimus pauses in his story, reflecting on how many impossible things happened in one day, and realizes he has not even asked the name of his mystery listener. The older bot introduces himself as "Ambus"...''

On Luna 1, as Rodimus's team flees the Decepticon attack, Ratchet's M.A.R.B. is hit and explodes, throwing the medic to the ground. A figure appears before the fallen Ratchet and offers its hand... and Ratchet looks up to see [[Pharma]] looming over him!

[[Skids (G1)|Skids]] awoke, amnesiac, to find himself aboard a mode-locked shuttlecraft flying over a planet. As the shuttle began to transform, Skids - trusting his instincts - reset the mode lock, pointed the shuttle at the planet's surface, and bailed out.

The explosive crash of the shuttle killed one of its three component bots. The two survivors transformed into their massive robot forms and, toting swords and repeating the phrase "Nineteen eighty-four", advanced relentlessly to attack Skids. The wayward theoretician magnetized the corpse of [[Polaris]] and attached it to one of the giants, then blew up the body's fuel supply, taking out the first giant. Blitzwing, however, had the stadium surrounded by a massive "Zone Defense" maze built by the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicons]], and while attempting to traverse it, Skids crashed into [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]] and was driven over by tank-mode Blitzwing. Skids and the other Autobots' remains were then gathered by [[Scrapper (G1)|Scrapper]], who built a throne for himself out of them. These Autobots were soon rescued and quickly rebuilt, and participated in the crises that ensued as Blitzwing, [[Astrotrain (G1)|Astrotrain]], [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]] and [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]] vied for Decepticon leadership. When a large number of Prime's troops were then injured during the opening volleys of the war on [[Earth]], Prime arranged for the construction of new bodies, which the personalities were then programmed into, bringing Skids and the others to life "for a second time." Now in a new body that transformed into a blue van, Skids' first mission was to aid in preventing [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] from stealing sonic energy from a [[Brick Springhorn]] concert, and he immediately took a liking to the music of Earth and the possibilities of what could be learned from interacting with mankind. {{storylink|Rock and Roll-Out!}}

On the way to raid the [[Wyoming base|Decepticon base]], Skids accidentally clipped the car of hot-tempered [[Jake Dalrymple]], who pursued the Autobots on their mission and distracted Skids just enough for [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]] to blast him off a cliff. Although Optimus Prime mourned the loss of Skids, neither the Autobot leader nor any other Autobot thought to recover the believed deactivated body of Skids later after their mission had been completed. {{storylink|Command Performances!}} Lying crippled and unable to transform, Skids was shortly discovered by register girl [[Charlene (cowgirl)|Charlene]], who, thinking he was an ordinary van, had him fixed up with the intent of keeping him for herself. Skids was open to the idea at first, preferring a peaceful life to that of a warrior, but after another bout of road rage with Dalrymple, the unearthly stunts he performed left him no option but to reveal his true nature of Charlene.

A somewhat unusual [[Transformer romance|relationship]] ensued between the two, but more trouble soon came Skids's way in the form of [[Donny Finkleberg]], who was being hunted down by Ravage. Fleeing from the Decepticon with Charlene and Donny, Skids hid out at an abandoned mining town, but yet again, the raging Dalrymple tracked him down and shattered his windshield, knocking him unconscious and into a dream where he died through his refusal to attack Megatron and save Charlene. Reawakening, he engaged Ravage in battle again, finally finding the strength to act, and causing his foe to tumble down a mineshaft. Skids returned to the Ark with Finkleberg, and later embarked on a mission with him to track down a group of missing Autobots who had been captured by the [[Rapid Anti-robot Assault Team]]. Although Skids had reported the strange electromagnetic readings he'd been getting from [[Dolphin's Bay]] even before [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] sent [[Windcharger (G1)|Windcharger]] to [[Bandit's Bluff]] to remove the [[cerebro-shell]]s from the rampaging [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]], it took [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock's]] report that evening to prompt Optimus to have Skids investigate it for possible Decepticon activity. Prime chose [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]] to accompany him in [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack's]] [[Star mini-submarine|new mini-submarine]], but wasn't sure whether to assign [[Sludge (G1)|Sludge]] to the mission as well, since Skids clearly didn't want him along.

If Prime left Sludge out, Skids celebrated by absentmindedly crashing into [[Mount Lomas]], crumpling his hood and causing Bumblebee to notice a suspicious trail in the woods. If the pair followed it instead of continuing to the bay, they walked into a trap set by [[Scrapper (G1)|Scrapper]] and [[Gravedigger]], who disassembled Bumblebee and Skids to serve as the first components of the [[Autobot Memorial Power Plant]].

If they continued to Dolphin's Bay and the sub, Skids traced electromagnetic waves back to some [[black coral]], then hacked into a Decepticon computer and learned of a plot to convert the coral into superfuel. Bumblebee then exited the hatch to break a piece off, triggering an explosion which trapped him in a canyon beneath broken columns of crimson coral. Without underwater gear, Skids had only two options: If he went back to the channel for help, Seaspray used his laser to free Bumblebee, then tried to sail back to the Ark, only to have Starscream blow all three of them up with a cluster bomb. If Skids tried translating some nearby dolphins' language, he succeeded in five minutes, talking the three largest dolphins into moving the broken coral. Skids and Bumblebee brought the black coral and his report back to Optimus Prime, ensuring an Autobot victory.

If Prime ''did'' include Sludge, Skids and Bumblebee made it to the bay first, then used the sub to track the readings to an underwater cave. Bumblebee entered it, radioed Skids about Operation Black Coral, then failed to reemerge. If Skids chose to return to the Ark for help, two possible endings saw an Autobot assault save Bumblebee and destroy the Decepticons' base. If Skids tried to radio Bumblebee, the sub was promptly hit by a sonic attack from Frenzy, making it go haywire and tear through the bay. Whether Skids tried to stop it by activating the backup systems or shorting the controls out with his electron blaster, he was saved by Sludge, ensuring an Autobot victory in two more endings. {{storylink|Dinobots Strike Back}}

Abruptly, the mode lock deactivated and the ship began transforming, so Skids made an impulsive decision: he reactivated the lock, sent the ship crashing into the surface, and bailed out. Making it to the ground safely, Skids found that the ship had been composed of a trio of [[Legislator|mysterious warrior robots]], one of whom was killed in the crash... while the other two were coming after him with giant swords and fire breath. Skids came upon the deceased bodies of two Autobots who had failed to survive the ''Lost Light'' crash—[[Hyperion (G1)|Hyperion]] and [[Polaris]]—and used their weapons and abilities to eliminate another of the pursuing robots. Running from the lone survivor, Skids came upon a small party of Autobots from the ''Lost Light'', who deactivated the inhibitor claw for him, allowing him to access his weapons and destroy the robot.
