Julius Robert Oppenheimer was a key member of the team that helped reverse engineer N.B.E.-1 and apply what was learned to further American scientific progress.

Fiction
IDW Transformers movie comics
In 1934, Oppenheimer's studies of Megatron allowed him to develop a magnetic blaster-weapon that would scramble the brain circuits of any Cybertronian lifeform. It was successfully road-tested in Sowers, Texas, by Roy Thompson and Margaret Simmons. Together Oppenheimer was also involved with constructing the Sector Seven facility used to study Megatron in the Arctic, having designed an automatic lockdown that would shut down the facility and hopefully trap Megatron if he began thawing. Though he was instrumental in the US winning World War II thanks to his hand in inventing the atomic bomb, Oppenheimer's socialist background led to him being accused of communism and disgraced by Bill Simmons and others. Frozen

In 2003, portraits of Oppenheimer and other important people who worked with N.B.E.-1's technology adorned the walls of a Sector Seven headquarters in Richmond, Virginia. Movie Prequel issue 3
Alan Oppenheimer (born April 23, 1930) is a veteran American voice actor, and one of several Transformers voice actors who have also appeared on the various Star Trek television series. However, he is best known for his voice roles, including Mighty Mouse, Vanity Smurf in The Smurfs, Ming the Merciless from Filmation's Flash Gordon, the Overlord from BlackStar, Falkor and Gmork from The NeverEnding Story, Merlin in The Legend of Prince Valiant, the Scientist from 9, and, of course, Skeletor, Man-At-Arms and Mer-Man from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. ==Notes==
* Oppenheimer's voice he used for Seaspray was virtually the same he used for Mer-Man on the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon. Dan Gilvezan revealed in his autobiography Bumblebee and Me, Oppenheimer would achieve the Seaspray/Mer-Man voice by puffing out his lips and bouncing them up and down with his fingers while speaking. Gilvezan compared it to when an old Looney Tunes character would go insane and start boinging their lips. In short, it constantly cracked up everyone in the recording studio.
