"Early years" were Hasbro-endorsed, according to the Hartmans. The brand (and fandom) just wasn't so big then as for Hasbro to really put the "stamp" on it, but after BC96... Hasbro/Kenner took a much keener interest in how BC was run and how everything was being presented. --M Sipher 22:10, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Oh yeah. I'm okay with linking to the conventions' web pages (if they have them) if anyone wants more info beyond "when/where", but really, I don't think this wiki should delve much deeper into detail. I could see putting notes on ONLY FULLY AND OFFICIALLY LICENSED merchandise that was available under them when relevant, like incentive-covers of normal-release DW/IDW comics (or that one Cyclonus bust), but knockoff toys and unlicensed t-shirts/posters with Hsabro IP? No. --M Sipher 22:14, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
:: Which does not actually make the convention official at all. At MOST there should be an "unofficial conventions" page that just contains a one-paragraph brief per convention with an external link... and frankly, I'm not convinced we should even have that. --M Sipher 23:47, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
:Well, you could just edit each and every one of those non-BotCon, non-OTFCC convention articles to make it clear they are not officially endorsed by Hasbro. At the moment, this article makes it sound a hell of alot like it's the official, Hasbro-endorsed Canadian TF convention when, last I heard, it wasn't, regardless of who turns up from Hasbro or what exclusives are being sold.

: I'm concerned because if I didn't know any better, reading this article would make me believe it's an official convention. --FFN 16:15, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Actually the reason I even began this article was because I was looking under the wiki entry for Conventions and at the bottom of unofficial conventions was TransformersCon, so I assume it's sorta implyed from the get-go. --ProtomanXRED
:Well, it would be helpful to fans 'not in the know' or other people if this was pointed out in the article itself. I know of two unofficial TF conventions not listed here. Cybcon ( http://www.ggaub.com/tf/index.html ) which ran for 13 years (2000-2013) and is being replaced by Cybfest ( http://home.comcast.net/~spock1027/cybfestnw/ ) beginning in 2014. I was at the last two Cybcons (2012 and 2013) and hope to attend Cybfest beginning in 2014. A lot of effort was put into Cybcon for the local fans and for as long as it ran, I think it deserves at least recognition here among the others, as well as it's replacement, Cybfest. Would it not be a benefit to the fans to include at the very least a listing for and link to as many TF conventions as can be verified, since so many unofficial conventions have already been listed here already? Particularly since there's really only one Official Transformers Convention which a lot of people simply can not attend due to location and/or finances but want to attend something. ::Please forgive me if I'm being overly brazen, but I'd like to challenge this Wiki's policy on unofficial material on grounds of being overly difficult to define, as well as being contradictory to the propose of a Wiki; to spread information. For instance, there are many pages that make brief mention of noteworthy bootlegs, despite that they are not official (no individual pages or pics, however) or detailed information on other brands. Articles cite official statements from major individuals from unofficial conventions. Some info does belong here and some doesn't. Unfortunately, there is no white or black on this topic (imho) but many different shades of plastic, and frankly I have no more business deciding where to draw the line than anyone else. A happier medium would be "This information would be better served here," or something. Is not the purpose of a user-defined encyclopedic database to be user-defined? If I'm making any false assumptions, please help me correct them.Hida Atarasi 23:25, 13 December 2009 (EST)
:::Hasbro didn't define our official-only policy. That's a user-defined policy. Opening up the wiki to unofficial entities also opens up floodgates to millions and millions of things we really shouldn't be spending our time on. Does the art I drew of Starscream when I was five belong on this wiki? Does someone's fan character? The answer is no, and we extend that criteria to everything. It's not difficult to define at all. --ItsWalky 23:29, 13 December 2009 (EST)
::::As far as unofficial/bootleg toys goes, those should be mentioned to contrast with the official toys or if there is widespread confusion as to their status (such as the Breakdown Action Master and the numerous fan made Smallest Transforming TFs). Basically, they are used mentioned not on their own merits, but because such mention makes a point about the official toys. Your point about "statements from major individuals from unofficial conventions" is interesting. I don't know of such comments, do you have a list of examples? To anyone else: can you explain how such comments might be appropriate for use here? Khajidha 00:05, 14 December 2009 (EST)
:::::I now consider myself schooled. However, my confusion revolves around some pages seeming to have some leeway on this issue, others being witch-huntingly strict, and my inability to recognize difference in content/criteria, if any. In particular, the issue of after-market/third party products (foreseeably outside the scope of the wiki simply due to future diversity) that exist solely because of the official product. I agree neither page nor image is justified, but a mention, a link? A separate Wiki for proper catorization if items that are outside the scope of the TransformersWiki? I'd love to write a short page dedicated to 3rd party stuff but I expect it would be taken down promptly. I only desire to contribute, not step on toes.

==TFcon==Used the structure from the Botcon wiki page, sorry if I am "stealing" anything from anyone, just never really good as starting up these wikis. - ProtomanXRED

This should probably be renamed and appropriately expanded as "Unofficial Conventions," if it's going to exist here at all. --Thylacine 2000 13:00, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

:And yet- it has official merchandise that is exclusive to it. Which is not uite the same thing as, say, Dairycon. -Derik 14:05, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

:: Which does not actually make the convention official at all. At MOST there should be an "unofficial conventions" page that just contains a one-paragraph brief per convention with an external link... and frankly, I'm not convinced we should even have that. --M Sipher 23:47, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

:: I always figured that, until Transformerscon becomes official itself (???? well, it would be nice). The information on Transformerscon would fit nicely in the article on Canada. God save the Queen. --Zodberg 14:23, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
I'd say the "unofficial" ship sailed when we detailed Iacon One, unless I'm mistaken.--Rosicrucian 15:08, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

An implication of such assumes that 'everybody' already knows, which isn't really that helpful in an information resource such as this. --FFN 08:29, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Well, if we're moving Transformerscon to "Unofficial Transformers conventions", then every other Botcon prior to 2002 should be move there as well since they were not official. --Detour 22:00, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
:::Whatever. Iacon One and Botcon 2004 still have pages and they're not official. I don't see why as soon as Proto makes a nice, thorough, totally NON-stub page for TFcon you guys are suddenly against this. --Detour 01:32, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
::::If I'm not mistaken, we've been wanting to move Iacon One to Unofficial conventions for some time now.
::::::Technically any unofficial 3rd party materials are ILLEGAL. Hasbro could totally sue Fans Project any time they felt like it, and they would win. Khajidha 15:47, 14 December 2009 (EST)
::Yeah. If the information came from an official creator at an unofficial show, that's fine - it doesn't mean that the unofficial show somehow becomes official.
"Ah, such luster. What? I'm joining the winning team."
Knockout proves once again just how self important he really is.

Notes
Animation and technical errors
* Even though the ship is orbiting Earth, Transformers and objects fall at a rate consistent with Earth-normal gravity outside of the ship.
* Even though the Star Saber was embedded to the halfway point in Megatron's chest the tip is not covered in Dark Energon.

Continuity notes
* Jack, Miko, and Raf experienced the effects of crossed GroundBridges firsthand in "Shadowzone".
* Bumblebee gets his voice back in this episode. His voicebox was destroyed in the events of Tyger Pax as explained in "Operation Bumblebee, Part 2". His voicebox, as well as his wounds, were restored through the Cyber Matter in the Omega Lock. It is rather fitting how it is him who delivers the final blow to destroy Megatron.
* Miko previously used the Apex Armor in "Chain of Command".
* The Star Saber was previously seen in the Decepticon vault in "Prey". Despite not making a note of it then, that fact did not escape Smokescreen's notice.
* Ultra Magnus refers to Soundwave's combat GroundBridging as a "relocation trick", which he has used on Arcee in "Orion Pax, Part 1", a Predacon bone fragment in "Project Predacon", and Airachnid and her Insecticons in "Thirst".
* The Autobots fire the Omega Lock into the Well of All Sparks, last seen in flashback in "One Shall Rise, Part 1".
* Predaking is revealed to have survived Megatron's attack from the previous episode with some minor damage.

Transformers references
Real-world references
Trivia
* Ratchet keeps saying he wants to go back to Cybertron and that he won't forgive Optimus for leaving him on a planet with humans, he stays behind anyways! Apparently, he has grown used to them.
* Megatron is able to wield the Dark Star Saber without the use of his Prime arm. A possible explanation is that the Prime arm was only required to wield the Forge of Solus Prime to create it, not the saber itself. Alternatively, Megatron could have designed his Saber to not require a Prime's touch during its making.
* Soundwave isn't the only Decepticon who is trapped the Shadowzone.
*Bumblebee was wearing a battle mask over his mouth for the whole series.

Since I feel kind of weird about actually posting things like this on the pages themselves, I thought I'd ask here on my own user talk page instead of cluttering the wiki proper with such questions. That and the relevance of "Is it canon and where does it state such?" is for information for an RP. Granted RP's are all fan AU anyway and generally irrelevant to the wiki, but still, the wiki is relevant to the fandom and some of us like to be at least as close to canon as we can be while still having some fun with it. If such a question is offensive to the Wiki admins, then please politely let me know and I will withdraw the question. My apologies for the long-winded-ness.

Regarding Sparks: Is there anything in canon regarding Spark Bonding (as in actual bonded mates) stating that such bondings are strictly monogamous, strictly polyamorous, or expressly both? And if so, which is it and where is it stated in canon? The only point regarding actual Spark Bonding I am aware of was in Beast Wars (and by extension, Beast Machines) which showed it was monogamous (Tigatron/Airrazor, Silverbolt/Blackarachnia, Rattrap/Botanica) and were potentially preordained (though it might not be preordained given that four (Quickstrike, Cheetor, Silverbolt, and Waspinator) were vying for Blackarachnia's affections, but that could have been explained by their organic Beast Mode natures influencing their behavior which was shown to happen in canon on several occasions as it was), and outside of G1 Arcee's prolific flirting habits, any actual canon pairings are shown as expressly monogamous among Transformers. I don't tend to include human affections towards bots in that, such as in "The girl who loved Powerglide" as the human's "romantic affections" weren't expressly mutual on the bot's side (though it was with Seaspray and Alana, but she wasn't human either) and humans are known to not always be so monogamous in general. I'm speaking primarily bot to bot Spark Bonding since it's questionable at best as to whether a bot and a human can even bond in such a way (and nothing of that is expressed in canon anyway).

My interpretation of what I do know from canon is that Spark Bonding is expressly monogamous and unbreakable even unto death, and that such bondings are preordained by Primus since their Sparks are pieces of his own and even seemingly very odd couples (like Rattrap and Botanica) end up expressly and irrevocably paired off together in canon. Is that interpretation accurate and supported by canon facts? Leathurkatt 11:30, 29 June 2013 (EDT)

Are there fan group terms that center on people who only like certain continuities like Movie verse, TFA, Unicron Trilogy, or whatever to the exclusion of all else? The only terms I keep coming across are Geewunners and Geewhiners. If there are, why not at least list them either within the Fandom page or make a page for just the terms for different kinds of fans? Thus far, these are all the terms for fan groups I've come across:

<blockquote>TRANSFANS: Your average Transformers fan.<br>
TRANSGEEKS: Transfans who get into the deeper aspects of TF, such as character back stories, Cybertronian history, technical aspects, and even Cosplay and Role Playing.<br>
SLAGGING TRANSFANS: Militant TF fans who rage their hostility at anything not TF related, especially anything MLP related. These are also the same people who rage at other TF fans because they like or don't like certain characters, continuities, whatever; or rage at anyone who has/doesn't have certain TF related toys/merchandise. They also pull the "I'm better than you" card against other fans.<br>
GEEWUNNERS: Militant TF fans who rage their hostility at anything not G1 related or anyone who doesn't like G1. These are a subgroup of Slagging Transfans.<br>
GEEWHINERS: Especially whiny Geewunners who often pull the victim card whenever someone uses the "Geewunners" term.<br>
TRANSWHORE: Rabid TF fans who have an obsessive desire to do anything Transformers to the point of distraction and with such great intensity to the point of fetishism. This obsession is often to the exclusion of all else.<br>
SPARKERS: Typically adult TF fans who are not afraid of the more "sexual" aspects of the fandom, generally to PG13 rating, including TF romances and relationships. "Well, at least you acknowledge the fact that TF's, though fictional, have emotions and relationships."
These can include fans who fall in love with certain characters beyond simply being a favourite.<br>
HIGH VOLTAGE SPARKERS: Typically adult TF fans who take TF to the level of XXX rating. This can also include fans who want to/like to have sex with their TF's.</blockquote>

Are there others I was not aware of that I have not yet found? Incidentally, I chose to use the term SLAGGING instead of the F-Word to keep it less offensive to others, especially since I've never seen contemporary swearing on the wiki (outside of the S-Word reference from the 1986 movie). Lifetime Transfan since 1984. 17:14, 18 May 2013 (EDT)
:I have literally never seen any of those terms (bar Geewunner, obviously) used to describe fans. Never.

I may be new as far as speaking up on the wiki, but I've been a fan since 1984. I would like to offer the point of view that the only "True Fan" is a fan for life. Regardless of the fandom, those who are fans for a while and then walk away I would never consider as anything but what I call a Transient or Temporary fan, while True Fans stay fans no matter how much time goes by, what changes take place, or how old they are. == Other Types of Rabid Fantards? ==

:I don't see what Cliffjumper's problem is. We aren't making fun of the fact that people mis-remember, we are making fun of people who place their flawed memories above the facts even when the facts are carefully explained to them. It is this inability to accept error and change that is worthy of derision not their ignorance (in the pure, non-pejorative sense of lack of knowledge) that we are railing against. --Khajidha 10:25, 24 September 2011 (EDT)
::I don't get it either, because it's exactly as Khajidha says. We aren't making fun of people for misremembering. == Other Types of Rabid Fantards? ==

<blockquote>TRANSFANS: Your average Transformers fan.
TRANSGEEKS: Transfans who get into the deeper aspects of TF, such as character back stories, Cybertronian history, technical aspects, and even Cosplay and Role Playing.
They also pull the "I'm better than you" card against other fans.
GEEWUNNERS: Militant TF fans who rage their hostility at anything not G1 related or anyone who doesn't like G1. These are a subgroup of Slagging Transfans.
GEEWHINERSs: Especially whiny Geewunners who often pull the victim card whenever someone uses the "Geewunners" term.
TRANSWHORE: Rabid TF fans who have an obsessive desire to do anything Transformers to the point of distraction and with such great intensity to the point of fetishism. This obsession is often to the exclusion of all else.
SPARKERS: Typically adult TF fans who are not afraid of the more "sexual" aspects of the fandom, generally to PG13 rating, including TF romances and relationships. "Well, at least you acknowledge the fact that TF's, though fictional, have emotions and relationships."
These can include fans who fall in love with certain characters beyond simply being a favourite.

Yes, but generally, the people who say stuff like this think The only part of all of transformers that matters is G1,and only seasons 1 and 2. Not 3 and 4, not RID, not Even the comics, probably not the toys either, and not the movie. just season 1 and 2. But your idea does make sense.

It makes logical sense to me, but then I'm probably the only person who thinks this way. Lifetime Transfan since 1984. 16:40, 18 May 2013 (EDT)
