'''Megatron appeals to Ratchet; Optimus takes on Predaking.'''

==Synopsis==

[[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus Prime]] struggles to his feet after having been knocked out of the sky by [[Predaking (Prime)|Predaking]], who transforms to robot mode and lands nearby. The [[Predacon (Prime)|Predacon]] charges up his blaster, but Optimus rebounds with a flurry of punches.

Inside the Solaris building, a firefight between [[Autobot]]s and [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]]s is brought to a swift end by one of [[Wheeljack (Prime)|Wheeljack]]'s grenades. The Autobots make their way into the next room, where [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]] is overseeing the theft of the particle collider, and begin fighting the [[Decepticon]] forces there.

Outside, Optimus continues to hammer away at Predaking, temporarily keeping him on the defensive. But the Predacon lashes out with a savage kick that sends Optimus sprawling. Predaking transforms back to beast mode and is about to unleash a blast of flame at the prone Autobot when [[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]] contacts him over the comm, ordering him to help secure the collider. Frustrated, Predaking fires his flame into the night sky.

Inside, the Autobots finish mopping up the Vehicons as [[Ultra Magnus (WFC)|Ultra Magnus]] beats Shockwave to his knees. He offers the Decepticon a chance to surrender before Predaking bursts in, makes short work of the Autobots, and flees with Shockwave and the collider. Outside, Optimus Prime rises shakily to his feet, just in time to see Predaking [[GroundBridge]] out.

[[Arcee (WFC)|Arcee]] radios [[Ratchet (WFC)|Ratchet]] to return them to base. [[William Fowler|Fowler]], [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]], and [[Smokescreen (Prime)|Smokescreen]] are just coming to after being knocked out by [[Soundwave (WFC)|Soundwave]], and Bulkhead reports that Ratchet is gone.

Aboard the ''[[Trypticon (WFC)|Nemesis]]'', Megatron informs the captive Ratchet that he requires his assistance. Ratchet defiantly refuses to cooperate. Megatron says that cooperation isn't required, as Shockwave approaches the Autobot with a [[cortical psychic patch]].

At the Autobot base, Arcee examines the piece of [[Laserbeak (WFC)|Laserbeak]]'s wing that Smokescreen shot off while the young Autobot laments his poor aim. Ultra Magnus and Bulkhead confirm that Ratchet is nowhere on the premises, and that he didn't leave via the Autobot GroundBridge. Because there have been no ransom demands, Optimus reasons that Ratchet has something the Decepticons want.

Predaking learns that an Autobot is aboard the ship, and states that he's going to do to him what he failed to do to [[Prime (rank)|the Prime]]. Megatron explains that the captive is necessary for the restoration of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], but once that's no longer the case, he will be turned over to the Predacon.

While Fowler barks orders for increased surveillance and satellite monitoring into the phone, Wheeljack theorizes that the Decepticons took Ratchet for his [[Synthetic Energon|synthetic energon]] formula. Smokescreen asks why that would be necessary when the Decepticons already control most of the planet's [[Energon]]. Optimus remembers Ratchet's belief that Megatron is attempting to rebuild the [[Omega Lock]], and deduces that Synth En could be a necessary component. Fowler, now off the phone, relays his concern to the Autobots; if the Decepticons found Ratchet, it means they know the location of their base.

Shockwave reports that the psychic patch only confirms Ratchet has not yet stabilized the synthetic energon formula. Megatron tries a different tactic, waiting for Ratchet to revive and telling the Autobot directly that he wants to help him complete the formula. Ratchet rejects the idea outright, until Megatron reveals his intentions; that the Synth En, when combined with [[CNA]], forms the basis for an alternative [[Cyber Matter]] that can be used to restore Cybertron. Ratchet refuses to collaborate with Megatron, calling him a barbarian responsible for destroying Cybertron in the first place and crushing [[Bumblebee (WFC)|Bumblebee]]'s [[voice box]]. Megatron offers him a choice: the first option is to complete the formula. The second option is represented by an image of [[Jack Darby|Jack]], [[Raf Esquivel|Raf]], and [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] displayed on [[Soundwave (WFC)|Soundwave]]'s visor. Ratchet tries to feign disinterest in the humans, but the image on Soundwave's visor changes to that of the Autobot base. Megatron tells Ratchet that if he agrees to cooperate, the humans and the Autobots will not be harmed. The Decepticons leave him to ponder the offer, and [[Starscream (WFC)|Starscream]] asks if Megatron was being serious. Megatron says of course he wasn't, and tells Starscream to assemble his armada and destroy the Autobot's base once again.

At the base, Fowler and the Autobots are uneasy about the lack of Decepticon activity. Optimus notes that since the Cons aren't stealing Predacon bones or [[Earth]] technology anymore, there's no way to track them. Ultra Magnus suggests splitting into teams for some "old school" searching, but is interrupted by alarms signaling an incoming attack. As Starscream and a fleet of Vehicons emerge from the skies, soldiers rush to their jets to prepare a defense. Starscream commands his troops to concentrate their attack on Hangar E as the military jets open fire. Starscream evades the humans' artillery and lets loose a volley of missiles that hit Hangar E and reduce it to a fiery ruin. He reports to Megatron that the mission has been accomplished, and the Decepticons depart.

The Autobots watch as soldiers put out the flames amidst the rubble that used to be the mess hall, and Ultra Magnus muses that the Decepticons were fooled by a simple paint job. The actual Hangar E, now repainted to say F, is still in one piece.

Back on the ''Nemesis'', Megatron has Ratchet released to give him a tour of the ship. Ratchet's first instinct is to attack, but he finds himself reluctantly impressed by the Decepticon technology. Megatron uses the opportunity to convince him that Autobots and Decepticons share a common goal in the restoration of Cybertron. Ratchet says that bringing back Cybertron would not stop Megatron's ambitions, which the Decepticon leader doesn't deny, but at least they would have a world worth fighting over. Ratchet asks what assurance he would have that Megatron would leave Earth alone. Megatron simply replies that no assurance is being offered, confident that Ratchet's desire to restore Cybertron will overpower his reservations.

At their base, the Autobots have realized that the piece of Laserbeak which Smokescreen shot off is his transponder. Raf hooks it up to his laptop and says that it's trying to communicate with the Decepticon warship. Jack asks how Raf can understand [[Cybertronian language|Cybertronian code]], and Raf says that Ratchet used to teach him in his free time. Fowler asks if they can triangulate the signal, but Ultra Magnus reminds him it's going to a shielded ship. Arcee notes that if the transponder was still attached to Laserbeak, they could follow it. Wheeljack proposes giving it wings, and he and Raf start putting the idea into action.

Jack sees Fowler staring thoughtfully at the [[Apex Armor (Prime)|Apex Armor]] and asks if anything's wrong. Fowler admits he's been thinking of humanity's close calls at the hands of the Decepticons, and that technology like the armor could give their military agents a fighting chance even when the Autobots aren't around to protect them. He also suggests that Jack could be one of those agents himself someday, an idea he's apparently discussed with [[June Darby|Jack's mother]]. Jack isn't thrilled to hear they've been talking about him, but his protest is interrupted by the result of Raf's work: [[Chip (Prime)|Chip]], a small flying device built to house Laserbeak's transponder, which will lead them straight to the Decepticon warship.

Ratchet posits that even if the Omega Lock could be reconstructed, there's no way to scientifically replicate the device's mystical properties. Megatron says they won't know until they try, and shows Ratchet their progress: an almost-completed Omega Lock, attached to the underbelly of the ''Nemesis''. Realizing just how close they really are to being able to restore Cybertron, Ratchet agrees to complete the Synth En formula.
===Continuity notes===
* Megatron tearing out Bumblebee's vocoder is again referenced, this time explicitly. It was first detailed in "[[Operation Bumblebee, Part 1]]" and the novel ''[[Transformers: Exodus]]''.
* Soundwave's picture of the children was taken way back in "[[Darkness Rising, Part 5]]".
* Starscream has previously described humans as "the weak link" in "[[Darkness Rising, Part 3]]".
* The Decepticons already destroyed [[Autobot Outpost Omega One|one Autobot base]] in "[[Darkest Hour (episode)|Darkest Hour]]".
* Miko obtained the Apex Armor in "[[Chain of Command (Prime)|Chain of Command]]".
* Fowler mentions being stuck in [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out's]] trunk with June Darby, which occurred in "[[Plus One]]".

===Transformers references===

===Real-world references===
* Fowler's dazed ramblings about there being "a man on the wing of this plane" refers to the famous ''[[Twilight Zone|The Twilight Zone]]'' episode [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nightmare_at_20,000_Feet "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet"].

===Trivia===
* Though Predaking named himself in "[[Evolution]]", this episode marks the first instance of him giving it to the Autobots.
* Shockwave mocks Ultra Magnus's bad hand during their fight, even though he likewise only has one functional hand and a permanently affixed cannon.
* This is the first episode to lack a title sequence since [[Darkness Rising, Part 5]].
* When visiting the laboratory aboard the ship with Megatron, Ratchet notices and picks up a device, called Quantum Cyro Inducer. The design features of this device bear some resemblance to Shockwave himself. The sides look like they're stacked with rough mini versions of his head, while the top has something that could be interpreted as a big red eye.
'''The Autobots question a captured enemy for information regarding Megatron's plans.'''

==Synopsis==
[[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]] explains to [[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]] that the combination of elements in the [[Cyber Matter]] that was accidentally created in his lab would allow them to [[Eco-structuring|cyberform]] entire planets. [[Starscream (WFC)|Starscream]] mocks what sounds like another "Shockwave plan", until Shockwave grabs him with an angry reminder about how Starscream recently left him to the mercy of the [[Autobot]]s. Megatron does not object as Shockwave forces Starscream's face closer and closer to a jagged protrusion of Cyber Matter. Scrambling for a defense, Starscream notes that his actions made their current situation possible. Shockwave accepts the logic of this and lets Starscream go. Without missing a beat, Megatron asks Shockwave why the Cyber Matter appears so chaotic, and the scientist pledges to correct the instability of the elements. Megatron notes that they will require a launch mechanism from which to use the Cyber Matter, and declares that they will focus their resources on reconstructing the [[Omega Lock]].

[[File:MinusOne-UltraMagnus.jpg|left|thumb|300px|Oh no! My Me Time hand!]]

At the Autobot base, [[Ratchet (WFC)|Ratchet]] finishes his repair of [[Ultra Magnus (WFC)|Ultra Magnus]]' mangled right hand. Due to a lack of equipment and spare parts, the repair consists of an unsightly hook appendage that Ratchet says will be functional, but potentially unfit for battle. [[Arcee (WFC)|Arcee]] tries to assure [[Wheeljack (Prime)|Wheeljack]] that Ultra Magnus will overcome this setback. [[Smokescreen (Prime)|Smokescreen]] bets that the hook will become Magnus' signature, making a comparison to [[Bumblebee (WFC)|Bumblebee]]'s [[voice box]] that the scout doesn't appreciate. Bumblebee buzzes angrily and storms off. [[Raf Esquivel|Raf]] explains to [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] and [[Jack Darby|Jack]] that Bumblebee still misses the sound of his old voice. [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] tries to lighten the mood by focusing on the defeat of the [[Predacon (Prime)|Predacon]] cloning project, but [[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus Prime]] reminds them all of [[Predaking (Prime)|the Predacon who recently revealed his abilities in transformation]].

Aboard the ''[[Trypticon (WFC)|Nemesis]]'', Megatron tells Predaking that they will soon punish the Autobots for destroying his brethren. Predaking vows that revenge will come, but that Project Predacon was only ever a starting point. He says that if Megatron truly wishes to restore [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], this should include resurrecting the entire Predacon race from the remains that lie there, so that Predaking can lead them against their shared enemies. Megatron regards this request with skepticism.

Shockwave reports that they've salvaged the wreckage of the Omega Lock, but that the damage was severe, and Earth technology will be needed to retrofit its systems. Megatron orders Starscream to acquire whatever materials Shockwave requires.

The next day, [[William Fowler|Fowler]] reports that [[Decepticon]]s stole twenty tons of control rods from a nuclear plant during the night. Optimus wonders gravely what they're attempting to build.

Shockwave reports to Megatron that the [[Synthetic Energon|synthetic energon]] formula provided by [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]] is incomplete, resulting in the instability of the Cyber Matter. Megatron tells him to complete it quickly, citing the need for enough Cyber Matter to restore Cybertron and cyberform [[Earth]]. Shockwave respectfully asks what the logic is in ruling two planets, to which Megatron replies that the two are linked, one [[Unicron]] and the other [[Primus]], and to rule only one would be ruling neither.

Fowler reports another Decepticon theft in progress. Ratchet opens a [[GroundBridge]], but stops Ultra Magnus when he tries to go through, citing the need for further rehabilitation. Optimus says that Ratchet has the final word in medical matters, to which Ultra Magnus reluctantly agrees. Wheeljack watches the exchange with discomfort.

[[File:MinusOne-staredown.jpg|right|thumb|300px|So, you Autobots about ready to give up yet?]]

The Autobots arrive on the scene and immediately advance on squad of [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]]s, who are carrying away their spoils. [[Soundwave (WFC)|Soundwave]] emerges from the sky in alt-form, opening a GroundBridge directly in front of the retreating Vehicons. [[Laserbeak (WFC)|Laserbeak]] is deployed, and Optimus transforms and takes to the air with his jet pack to engage them both. The Vehicons escape through the bridge, but Optimus' gatling gun is able to bring Soundwave crashing to the ground. Laserbeak escapes, and Optimus contacts Ratchet to let him know they will be returning with a prisoner.

At the Autobot base, Soundwave finds himself secured to a table. Ratchet notes that the base's shielding will prevent the Decepticon from contacting his ship. Wheeljack gleefully says that they have all the time in the world to make Soundwave talk, and Miko wonders if he even does talk.

On the ''Nemesis'', Starscream asks Megatron if he's worried about what the captive Soundwave might say. Megatron states his confidence in Soundwave's ability to withhold information.

[[File:Soundwave Mocks.jpg|thumb|left|I punch those numbers into my calculator and it makes a happy face.|250px]]
Optimus asks Soundwave why the Decepticons have been stealing human technology. Soundwave mockingly plays back a remix of the question set to music, and punctuates it with a smiley face emoticon on his visor. Optimus threatens a less civil method of interrogation, and Soundwave broadcasts a sonic pulse throughout the room that causes humans and Autobots alike to double over in pain. Ratchet angrily suggests opening Soundwave up to get the information they need, but the Decepticon responds by erasing data directly from his own drives. With a final taunt spoken in his own voice, he says, "Soundwave superior, Autobots inferior." His visor blinks out and he slumps down on the table, off-line. An astonished Ratchet reports that the Decepticon's vital signs are stable, but that he crashed his own drives rather than allow them to be read.

Shockwave locates the only item on Earth with enough raw tonnage to power the rebuilt Omega Lock; a particle collider synchrotron. However, his efforts to complete the synthetic energon formula have met with less success. Megatron recalls that Knock Out obtained the formula from Ratchet, and muses that the simplest solution is to recruit him. Shockwave says that Laserbeak can upload the order to Soundwave after reconnecting with him, but Starscream notes that they don't know the location of the Autobot base. Shockwave recalls that Soundwave kept surveillance records on all the Autobots' human allies, not just the children.

From his car phone, Fowler tells Optimus that he's on his way to a meeting with [[Bryce|General Bryce]] about the recent Decepticon heists, and that he'll be back to the base as soon as possible. Behind the car, Laserbeak follows from the sky.

Megatron orders Predaking to be present at the Decepticons' next objective, as they expect the Autobots will interfere. Predaking says that he looks forward to facing the [[Prime (rank)|Prime]] again. This cavalier attitude enrages Megatron, who screams at the Predacon about their dwindling forces. Predaking merely states that he will have to fight twice as hard.

On his way back to the base, Fowler contacts the Autobots and reports that the Decepticons are attacking the Solaris particle collider project at the South Pole. Optimus readies the Autobots for action. Ratchet attempts to hold Ultra Magnus back again, but Wheeljack declares that the commander is ready. Wearily, Ratchet relents and opens a GroundBridge. Optimus commands Bulkhead and Smokescreen to stay behind and help Ratchet guard Soundwave, then he and the others depart. While the younger Bots comment on the prone Decepticon, Ratchet wonders what Megatron wants with a device powerful enough to open a [[black hole]].

Outside, Fowler parks in front of the base, still followed by Laserbeak.

It dawns on Ratchet that enough power to swallow a world could also be enough power to create one.
Just then, Predaking strikes from the sky, firing blasts of flame breath that send the Autobots scattering. Optimus returns fire and orders the Autobots to stop the Decepticons from obtaining the collider while he faces the Predacon alone. As the Autobots race to the Solaris building, Optimus draws his gatling gun and engages in an aerial duel with the Predacon. Optimus pours on the firepower, but is unable to keep the beast at bay. With a final, savage swipe of his tail, Predaking sends Optimus crashing down to the ground far below.

Inside the building, the other Autobots find a squad of Vehicons lying in wait for them. As the two groups exchange fire, Shockwave oversees the retrieval of the particle collider in the next room.

At the Autobot base, Smokescreen is trying to convince Ratchet that they'll restore Cybertron somehow when Fowler walks in. He is followed a moment later by Laserbeak crashing through the window. The [[Deployer (Prime)|Deployer]]'s lasers keep the Autobots at bay long enough for him to sever Soundwave's bonds. Smokescreen returns fire, hitting Laserbeak's wing, but is unable to prevent the bird from reuniting with his master. Soundwave springs back to life and effortlessly dispatches Smokescreen, Bulkhead, and Fowler with his tentacles before advancing on Ratchet.
* Soundwave paraphrases one of his most famous lines, directly from the [[The Transformers: The Movie|1986 movie]]. * Soundwave speaks in his own voice for the first time in the series. And, to the surprise of few, it's a paraphrased quote that originated from the [[The Transformers: The Movie|1986 movie]]. His voice is the same as his [[Soundwave (G1)|G1 counterpart]] (again provided by [[Frank Welker]]), only with his voice distortion slightly less enhanced. The Soundwave from ''Transformers Animated'' states the same line only backwards, "Autobots inferior, Soundwave superior," in the episode "[[Human Error, Part I]]".
'''The Autobots question a captured enemy for information regarding Megatron's plans.'''

==Synopsis==

* Ratchet managed to give Ultra Magnus a replacement hand (well, claw), which was mangled by [[Predaking (Prime)|Predaking]] in the [[Evolution|previous episode]].
* The story of how Bumblebee lost his vocoder was established in "[[Operation Bumblebee, Part 1]]" and the novel ''[[Transformers: Exodus]]''.
* Megatron recalls how the formula for synthetic energon was collected from Ratchet in "[[Stronger, Faster]]".
* Unicron was discovered to be buried within the Earth in "[[One Shall Rise, Part 1]]".

===Transformers references===
* Soundwave paraphrases one of his most famous lines, directly from the [[The Transformers: The Movie|1986 movie]]. His voice is also done in the same Dr. Claw-esque tone that he provided for his [[Soundwave (ROTF)|live-action counterpart]] in the [[Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (film)|second]] and [[Transformers: Dark of the Moon (film)|third]] films.

===Trivia===
*Ultra Magnus appears unable to use the blaster in his right arm with his hand destroyed.
*Laserbeak carries a complete backup of Soundwave's data banks.
*Fowler wields a fire extinguisher against Soundwave, previously Jack's weapon of choice in both "[[Scrapheap (episode)|Scrapheap]]" and "[[Convoy (episode)|Convoy]]".
'''Predaking reveals his secret, causing the Decepticons to question the wisdom of their cloning project.'''

==Synopsis==
While a storm rages, [[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]] and [[Starscream (WFC)|Starscream]] fly down from the ''[[Trypticon (WFC)|Nemesis]]'' to the entrance of a mine. This feeling "[[Rock Bottom|uncomfortably familiar]]" to Starscream, he reluctantly follows Megatron inside and immediately begins playing down his "[[Thirst|latest indiscretion]]". Megatron furiously reminds Starscream that his actions cost them the entire [[Insecticon (Prime)|Insecticon]] hive, prompting Starscream to beg for his life. Megatron sighs wearily and proceeds deeper into the mine, which Starscream finally realizes is [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]]'s off-site laboratory. The lab contains dozens of cloning tanks, each with a [[Predacon (Prime)|Predacon]] floating motionless within. Shockwave reports that the clones have almost fully evolved, and will be combat-ready in three solar cycles.

On Megatron's order, [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]] travels down from the ship in a lift while [[Predaking (Prime)|the Predacon]] watches intently. Arriving in the cave, Knock Out presents his [[Synthetic Energon|synthetic energon]], which Shockwave states he will examine after the deployment of the Predacon army. They are interrupted by the Predacon, who emerges from the shadows with a roar. Starscream hits it with a pipe, and the beast responds by transforming into robot mode and threatening some physical violence in return. Starscream and Megatron are both shocked by this, but Shockwave notes that [[Transformation| transformation]] is a fundamental part of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertronian]] biology; they simply had no way of knowing the Predacons ever reached that evolutionary stage before becoming extinct in the [[Great Cataclysm]]. The Predacon stares at his brethren in the tanks and says he will no longer be alone. He apologizes to Megatron for keeping his abilities a secret, claiming he only became aware of them recently. He says he has no memories prior to arriving on Earth, and learned what he was from the databanks of the ''Nemesis''. Megatron tells him he is unique, a miracle of science. The Predacon looks back at the clone tanks and regards them in silence.

At their base, the [[Autobot]]s are chafing under [[Ultra Magnus (WFC)|Ultra Magnus]]' command. He pressures [[Ratchet (WFC)|Ratchet]] to finish his synthetic energon experiments, chides the Beast Hunters for taking a breather between scouting missions, and demands to know what the returning [[Wheeljack (Prime)|Wheeljack]] was doing outside the base. The Wrecker surprises him by revealing that he's been recalibrating the engines on [[Ultra Magnus's ship]] to increase their efficiency. [[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus Prime]] returns from his reconnaissance mission and the Autobots flock to him, happy to turn their attention from Ultra Magnus. Optimus sees this with a note of sadness.

Aboard the ''Nemesis'', the Predacon pledges his loyalty to Megatron and requests to be put in command of the clone army, taking the name Predaking. Megatron conceals his wariness of the former beast's newfound ambition.

Alone with his command staff, Megatron voices his concern that Predaking and the Predacon army can and will turn on them. The only thing they can do to prevent it is destroy the clones. Shockwave agrees, but Knock Out asks what will happen if Predaking finds out. Starscream, no stranger to treachery, suggests that the Autobots be used to do the deed, and thus draw Predaking's wrath.

Ultra Magnus is watching human soldiers run drills outside the base when Optimus Prime asks what's troubling him. Magnus has finally realized that [[Team Prime|Team Prime]] isn't taking to his command style. Optimus reminds his old friend that they're not the [[Cybertron Elite Guard|Elite Guard]], and have in fact grown into something greater than an army. Before he can say what that is, Ratchet announces that their scanners have located exposed energon. Optimus declares that they must investigate, due to their own short supply.

A squadron of [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]]s are standing vigil outside an energon mine when Optimus and the [[Wrecker]]s appear and order them to surrender. The Vehicons open fire, but are quickly cut down by the Wreckers' forward advance and the Stealth Team ([[Arcee (WFC)|Arcee]], [[Bumblebee (WFC)|Bumblebee]], and [[Smokescreen (Prime)|Smokescreen]]) attacking from the rear. Optimus orders the Wreckers to reconnoiter the mine while the Stealth Team transports their energon spoils back to the base. Joined by an eager Smokescreen, the Wreckers investigate the supposed energon mine, growing suspicious about the lack of energon signals or additional security. Ultra Magnus orders them to split up, with he and Wheeljack going in one direction and Smokescreen and Bulkhead in the other.

Ultra Magnus and Wheeljack come across Shockwave's laboratory and the rows of cloning tanks. Shockwave is working at a computer console when he notices them, opening fire briefly before contacting Starscream. Starscream says he didn't reveal that his plan was already in motion, just so that Shockwave's surprised reaction would be genuine. Starscream terminates the link. Knockout knows exactly why Starscream staged his plan this way, and received a less than subtle confirmation. Shockwave contacts Soundwave to open a [[GroundBridge]]. Before fleeing, Shockwave triggers an electrical surge that travels through the cloning tanks, causing the liquid which keeps the beasts in stasis to drain out.

On the ''Nemesis'', Starscream reports that the Autobots have taken possession of the Predacon clones. Megatron orders him to scramble his seeker armada, but Predaking says that he alone will confront the enemy that threatens his brethren.

Dozens of Predacons begin to stir as the stasis fluids drains from their tanks. Wheeljack notices a cache of synthetic energon in the corner of the room and, with Ultra Magnus' blessing, tosses a grenade at it. The Autobots transform and drive away at high speed, but come to a stop as Predaking, in robot mode, GroundBridges right in front of them much to their surprise. Ultra Magnus, seeing the symbol on Predaking's chest, identifies him. Just then, the laboratory behind them explodes in a massive fireball.

On the surface, Bulkhead and Smokescreen emerge from the mine just as the ground is shaken by the explosion. Optimus Prime stares at the mine with a grave expression.

Predaking, meanwhile, stares in horror at the charred remains of Shockwave's lab. With a roar, he attacks the two Autobots, his powerful blows sending them flying through the air. Wheeljack mounts a brief and successful counterattack, but Predaking quickly regains the upper hand, until Ultra Magnus lays into him with the [[Forge of Solus Prime]]. Magnus and his hammer buy Wheeljack time to recover, and the two Autobots launch a powerful combined attack that ends when they bring a colossal stalactite crashing down on the Predacon. But Predaking merely lifts the stalactite off him and uses it as a weapon to knock Ultra Magnus to the ground and crush Wheeljack against a wall. Magnus reaches for the Forge, but Predaking jumps up and lands on his hand, smashing it underfoot until the Autobot's fingers are nothing but ruined scrap flattened into the ground. Wheeljack laments that he was just starting to tolerate his commander, and Ultra Magnus responds by saying it was an honor to serve with him. Predaking snaps the Forge in half. He makes ready for the killing blow when Optimus Prime flies in and sends the Predacon sprawling. Optimus unleashes his gatling gun on the cave ceiling, raining rubble down on Predaking and allowing him to grab his wounded comrades. Optimus flies them out of the mine with Predaking in close pursuit, and is able to make it through a GroundBridge before a blast of flame makes contact. Predaking roars in rage.

Ultra Magnus comes back online to find himself on Ratchet's operating table while the medic cauterizes the jagged stump of metal that remains of his hand. The other Autobots are gathered around, with Wheeljack musing that Magnus fought like a Wrecker. Ultra Magnus asks Optimus what he was referring to earlier that could be greater than an army. Optimus says that it is a human concept called family.

On the ''Nemesis'', Starscream and Knock Out can barely stifle their amusement as Megatron promises Predaking that they will make the Autobots pay for what they've done. From his lab, Shockwave confirms that the clones are beyond salvaging, but says that there's something in the ruins Megatron must see. Megatron and Starscream GroundBridge down to it and are stunned to find a large quantity of pure Cyber Matter, like that which once existed on ancient Cybertron, and which more recently created the Decepticon [[Darkmount (Earth)|citadel]]. Shockwave theorizes that it was created when the explosion mixed the [[CNA]] of the Predacon clones with Knock Out's synthetic energon.

==Notes==
===Errors===
* Shockwave said that the Predacon clones would have fully evolved within a few solar cycles. Given he's simply cloning them, "matured" or "grown" would have been more appropriate. But then again, Shockwave's choice of diction has been odd at times.
* The use of the ''[[Trypticon (WFC)|Nemesis]]'' itself to transport large stores of synthetic energon to Shockwave's laboratory seems a poor tactical choice, given the high visibility of such and the need to keep both assets in the same location. A [[GroundBridge]], while perhaps less efficient, would have been a better choice to maintain secrecy.
* Wheeljack and Ultra Magnus seemed to be avoiding the spilled cloning tank fluid, but later Wheeljack was seen standing in it like nobody's business.

===Continuity notes===
* Starscream's reluctance to follow Megatron into another abandoned mine calls back to "[[Rock Bottom]]".
* The experiment Starscream apologizes for, which resulted in the loss of the Insecticons, happened in "[[Thirst]]".
* Shockwave's off-site laboratory was first mentioned in "[[Chain of Command (Prime)|Chain of Command]]".
* Knock Out's synthetic energon is derived from Ratchet's formula, which Knock Out obtained in "[[Stronger, Faster]]".
* Ultra Magnus questions Ratchet on his progress into the synthetic energon formula. Ratchet began working on his own formula again in "[[Project Predacon]]."
* Shockwave brought Predaking to Earth in "[[Scattered]]", and the beast fought Bulkhead and Wheeljack in "[[Prey (episode)|Prey]]".
* Ultra Magnus began wielding the Forge of Solus Prime in "[[Project Predacon]]".
* Bulkhead, Arcee, Bumblebee and Wheeljack show off the rifle, laser, shield and energy whip, respectively, that they took from Ultra Magnus's arsenal in "[[Rebellion (Prime)|Rebellion]]".
* Wheeljack asks Ultra Magnus for permission to employ a grenade in a confined space, a tactic for which he was reprimanded in "[[Chain of Command (Prime)|Chain of Command]]".
* Megatron's citadel Darkmount was created by the [[Omega Lock]] in "[[Darkest Hour (episode)|Darkest Hour]]".

===Transformers references===
* Ultra Magnus was one of the [[Cybertron Elite Guard|Elite Guard]] during the [[Transformers: War for Cybertron (games)|war for Cybertron]].
* Starscream refers to an evolution that will become a revolution. "[[Evolution Revolution]]" was a teaser theme used for ''[[Beast Machines: Transformers (franchise)|Beast Machines]]''.
* Wheeljack shows a high mechanical aptitude by increasing the output of Ultra Magnus' ship's engines. [[Wheeljack (G1)|We have yet to see if the engines work as efficiently as he said]].

===Trivia===
* This is an episode of firsts for Predaking: it's the first time he transforms, the first time he speaks, and the first time his name is used.
* Predaking manages to destroy the Forge of Solus Prime.
* While grouping Bulkhead, Ultra Magnus, and Wheeljack together as Wreckers is nothing new, Optimus has named his remaining usual field units (Arcee, Bumblebee, and Smokescreen) as the Stealth Team.
* We learn that the original Predacons of Cybertron faced a similar apocalyptic wipeout to that of the dinosaurs of Earth, further reinforcing the parallels drawn between the two.

Legoformerguy: /* Prime cartoon */

[[Image:Afterdeath-gameoverman.jpg|right|300px|thumb|Oh, he's gone and died again. Botheration! Most inconvenient.]]
Across the various continuities, '''Optimus Prime dies a lot.''' This happens for various reasons:

* It allows for him to be replaced by [[Hot Rod (G1)|a new character]] (and thus [[To sell toys|a new toy]]).
* It allows for him to come back from the dead in a new body (again, a new toy).
* It's dramatic (in theory).
* It makes him into something of a [[Jesus|Christ]]-figure.
* It allows for numerous [[Optimus Prime memorial|memorials]] to be constructed in his honor (though they're some times built even ''before'' he dies, morbidly enough).

Nearly every continuity family has featured Prime dying at least once; the only exceptions are the Optimus Primes from ''[[Transformers: Robots in Disguise (cartoon)|Robots in Disguise]]'' (though [[The Final Battle (RID)|only just]]), and ''[[Transformers: Shattered Glass (franchise)|Shattered Glass]]'' (since in that case, it's [[Megatron (SG)|Megatron]]'s job).

Some examples:

==Generation 1 cartoon continuity==
===''The Transformers'' cartoon===
[[Image:Wardawn_orion_dies.jpg|right|210px|thumb|Dying before he's even Optimus Prime (he's that good).]]

* [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Orion Pax]] died (or was at least severely damaged by [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]]) and had to be rebuilt into Optimus Prime by [[Alpha Trion (G1)|Alpha Trion]]. It's possible that if Orion had not been repaired, Optimus Prime would have ceased to exist. Pax's girlfriend Ariel was also heavily damaged, and rebuilt into [[Elita One]]. They were with their friend [[Dion]] when they were attacked by Megatron, although it is unknown if he was likewise rebuilt.

===''The Transformers: The Movie''===
[[Image:TFTM dead gray Prime.jpg|left|180px|thumb|[[:wikipedia:Oscar Wilde#Exile|"Either that wallpaper goes, or I do."]]]]
* The best-known example is from ''[[The Transformers: The Movie]]'', in which [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] dies of wounds from his battle with Megatron. Famously, his body turns gray as he dies. ([[Misconceptions and urban legends about Transformers|Urban legend]] says his body also ''crumbles,'' but no such footage is known to exist.) Being the first time he died, it was actually unexpected.
{{-}}

===''Kiss Players''===
*Sometime between [[The Transformers: The Movie|2005]] and [[The Transformers (cartoon)|2010]], [[Marissa Faireborn]] revives Optimus using the Galvatron cells in her body. Ultimately, all the cells are put back into [[Galvatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Galvatron]], and without them, Optimus promptly dies again.

===''The Transformers'' Season 3===
[[Image:Optimusg1zombie.jpg|right|200px|thumb|"Mind if I smoke?"]]
* He returns from the dead twice; first as a [[zombie]] under [[Quintesson]] control in "[[Dark Awakening]]" as part of a plan to destroy the [[Autobot]]s, only to die again when he overcomes the Quintesson control through the power of the [[Matrix of Leadership|Matrix]] and possibly the strength of his will, and sacrifices himself to save the Autobots.

* He then was brought to life again (and stayed alive) in "[[The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 1]]".
{{-}}

===''The Headmasters''===
[[Image:Headmasters-primedies.jpg|right|thumb|300px|"...I'm dead."<br/> "YES, you are!"<br/> "You think that's funny, Jennings?!"]]

* In ''[[Transformers: The Headmasters (cartoon)|The Headmasters]]'', Prime's death in ''The Transformers: The Movie'' was sort-of recreated in a flashback montage at the beginning of "[[Four Warriors Come out of the Sky]]", but not really. Rather than die while taking down his ultimate nemesis in a one-on-one struggle to the death to defend his city, his comrades, the planet [[Earth]], and freedom itself, he just kind of gets randomly shot while in the middle of an ordinary battle outside of the [[Ark (G1)|Autobot Headquarters]], and turns gray. Nobody else seems to notice this. It's not clear that Prime himself notices it. It's about the most half-hearted death ever.

* Optimus Prime later died again—in another act of self sacrifice, of course—when he walked into [[Vector Sigma]] and tried to bring it back under control directly in "[[Birth of the Fantastic Double Prime]]". His body turned gray as he died, followed by a (likely only symbolic) scene of him telling [[Hot Rod (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Rodimus Prime]] that it would be his responsibility to keep leading the Autobots and to continue his work, seen as a transparent, light-haloed figure against the sky and heard in third person narration as Rodimus stared into the sky. (Then again, given the [[Birth of the Fantastic Double Prime|proven]] [[Starscream's Ghost|exis]][[Ghost in the Machine|tence]] of [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|gho]][[Alpha Trion (G1)|sts]]...)

*In "[[Afterdeath!]]", [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Optimus Prime]], after failing to live up to his moral principles while playing a video game against [[Megatron (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Megatron]], volunteers to be killed. The Autobots launch his [[Transformer funerary practices|funeral]] bier into space. Fortunately, the creator of the video game, [[Ethan Zachary]], saves a backup copy of Prime's mind on a [[floppy disk]]. We first meet this virtual Prime sixteen issues later in "[[Pretender to the Throne!]]". He gets his new [[Powermaster]] body two issues thereafter, in "[[People Power!]]".

*A previous attempt was made at making virtual Prime a new body in "[[Totaled!]]". The body ''spontaneously blew up''.

*About thirty issues later, Prime sacrifices himself to defeat [[Unicron]], in "[[On the Edge of Extinction!]]". But he didn't actually die until "[[Still Life!]]". However, his Powermaster partner, [[Hi-Q]], survives, and almost immediately begins babbling about how he's ''really'' Optimus Prime. This turns out to be true, and the [[Last Autobot]] metamorphoses Hi-Q into Prime (with a new [[Action Master]] body) in [[End of the Road! (SPOILER ALERT: No, he's not.) {{storylink|Overthrown}}
*In his first battle with the [[Ore-13]] powered Megatron, Optimus was killed. {{storylink|Escalation issue 5}} Or at least, his ''main body'' was: by quickly downloading his consciousness into [[Combat Deck (G1)|Combat Deck]] (and then back again), Optimus was able to survive. Being that close to death meant he briefly existed in a [[infraspace|limbo]] state, which got him noticed by [[Nova Prime]] in the [[Dead Universe]]. {{storylink|Escalation issue 6}}
*He then spends the first half of [[The Transformers: All Hail Megatron|All Hail Megatron]] badly damaged and near death. He is revived however when [[Kup (G1)|Kup]] and his crew arrive.
*A rare metaphorical version occurs when he leaves Cybertron to appease the anti-Autobot [[NAIL]]s.
*At [[Other Voices, Part 2|the end of the first season]] of ''Beast Wars'', Optimus Primal piloted a bomb-equipped [[stasis pod]] in an attempt to destroy the [[Planet Buster]]. Unfortunately, [[Megatron (BW)/Beast Wars cartoon continuity|Megatron]] had sealed the pod's hatch, and Optimus blew up with it. [[Coming of the Fuzors (Part 2)|Early in the second season]] (a few hours later as far as the characters were concerned), [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] managed to unite Optimus's drifting [[spark]] with a [[blank]] [[protoform]], thus bringing him back to life (and in a new [[Transmetal]] body, too).

*At [[The Agenda (Part III)|the end of second season]], the ''Beast Wars'' Megatron came very close to killing the original Optimus Prime. But [[Optimal Situation|Prime didn't ''quite'' die]], so we really shouldn't count it.
*At [[End of the Line|the end of the first season]] of ''Beast Machines'', Optimus and Megatron had a cataclysmic battle, using the energies of [[Vector Sigma]] and the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]]. This would have destroyed [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], but Optimus took the warring energies into himself and disintegrated. However, his spark was trapped within the [[Oracle (BM)|Oracle]], and the other [[Maximal]]s convinced him to return to the real world at [[Fallout (episode)|the start of second season]]. The Oracle kindly gave him a new body (which, believe it or not, was ''not'' a new toy).

*At [[Endgame Pt. III: Seeds of the Future|the end of the series]], Optimus gave his life to defeat Megatron once and for all, pushing him into the [[technorganic]] core of the planet. In assorted ancillary media ([[Transformers: Universe (comic)|convention comics]], [[Beast Wars Reborn|text]] [[Transformers: Alternators|stories]]), he comes back to life yet again.

(Strangely, the end of the third season of ''Beast Wars'' had no Optimus deaths whatsoever! A half-dozen ''[[Depth Charge (BW)|o]][[Tigerhawk|t]][[Dinobot II|h]][[Inferno (BW)|e]][[Quickstrike (BW)|r]][[Rampage (BW)|s]]'' died, but not Optimus.)
Despite ''literally'' disarming Starscream and destroying Grindor, Optimus is run-through from behind by Megatron and killed. Unfortunately, it crumbled into dust upon touching it in the [[Tomb of the Primes]] on the border between [[Egypt]] and [[Jordan]]. During the climactic battle in Egypt between [[NEST]] and the Decepticons, Sam was seemingly killed by Megatron, only to be taken to another plane of existence where he met [[Dynasty of Primes|the Primes who died]] to prevent [[The Fallen]] from achieving victory, and they bestowed upon him the true Matrix, which allowed Sam to revive Optimus. {{Storylink|Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (film)|Revenge of the Fallen}}
'''Team Prime wages war against the Decepticon citadel.'''

==Synopsis==
As the [[Autobot]]s prepare for battle, [[William Fowler|Fowler]] points out that the military has the weapons necessary to take down the fortress, but can't attack while [[Darkmount (Earth)|Darkmount]]'s [[fusion cannon]]s are pointed at major cities. [[Ultra Magnus (WFC)|Ultra Magnus]] resolves to disable the cannons. As Darkmount has [[GroundBridge]] jamming capabilities, they will have to attack in a more roundabout way.

In an underground cavern, [[Smokescreen (Prime)|Smokescreen]] expresses his doubt that he's ready to be a [[Prime (rank)|Prime]], but [[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus]] points out that the decision will be made by the [[Matrix of Leadership]].

[[File:Rebellion-Shockwave.jpg|left|thumb|250px|Giant enemy crab!]]

[[Jack Darby|Jack]] uses his cellphone at a gas station, and his signal is promptly picked up by the [[Decepticon]]s. [[Starscream (WFC)|Starscream]] dispatches his seekers to investigate, but [[Ratchet (WFC)|Ratchet]] GroundBridges Jack back to the ''[[Harbinger]]'' before they can reach him. [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] likewise calls for pizza from a [[New York City|New York]] alley to lure Decepticons there. Ratchet has Jack make a fake transmission from an [[Energon]] Mine, forcing Starscream to send [[Insecticon (Prime)|Insecticon]]s to check the location. With the Decepticon forces thus scattered, the Autobots bridge to the fortress while Fowler stands ready at a nearby air base with a squadron of jets.

[[File:Rebellion-UltraMagnus.jpg|right|thumb|300px|They've deduced our strategy, such as it was.]]

As the report comes in that the Energon Mine is safe and not under attack, [[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]] demands to know why the Decepticons have been spread so thin. [[Soundwave (WFC)|Soundwave]] solves the mystery of where the Autobots are by pointing out the existence of the ''Harbinger'', however before Starscream can dispatch his armada to attack it, Darkmount itself comes under attack. Down below, [[Wheeljack (Prime)|Wheeljack]] and [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] toss grenades at the base of the fortress and use their new weapons to stave off the [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]]s that attack them. Meanwhile [[Bumblebee (WFC)|Bumblebee]] and [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] take a more subtle route.

[[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]] humbly suggests releasing [[Predaking (Prime)|Predaking]] to repel the attackers. The beast enters the fray, but is quickly distracted by Ultra Magnus's ship. As it attempts to chase Magnus, Ratchet opens a GroundBridge, sending the creature to the Arctic, where it quickly freezes. Shockwave leaves the ''[[Trypticon (WFC)|Nemesis]]'' and starts jumping down the side of the fortress.

The dying Optimus begins to have a vision of the [[Allspark]] and [[Alpha Trion (Prime)|Alpha Trion]]. Though Prime worries about the fate of the Matrix, his old teacher assures him it will pick a new leader.

Arcee reports to Magnus that she and Bumblebee have run into some trouble and are pinned down. Ultra Magnus decides to take matters into his own hands, entering the fortress and attacking the fusion cannon control room directly. He swiftly takes care of the Decepticons at the controls, only for Megatron himself to arrive. Meanwhile Shockwave reaches the bottom of the tower and incapacitates Bulkhead and Wheeljack with a single cannon blast, and Arcee and Bumblebee are surrounded by Decepticon troops. Ultra Magnus fights well against Megatron, but ultimately loses and is dragged up to the throne room.

Alpha Trion invites Optimus to join with the Allspark. In the cavern, the light in Optimus's eyes goes out and his chest opens to reveal the Matrix. Smokescreen has other ideas, and drags the [[Forge of Solus Prime]] over in order to place it in Optimus's hand. A surge of energy fills the hammer.

[[File:Rebellion-prepunch.jpg|left|thumb|300px|My turn.]]

As Ultra Magnus won't tell Megatron anything, the Decepticon leader orders the prisoners executed and the fusion cannons fired, however Starscream points out there's something incoming. In the ''Harbinger'', Ratchet also detects the inbound object, and it has an Autobot signature. It reaches visual range of the Decepticons, revealing itself to be Optimus himself, in a new upgraded form. Landing in the throne room, Optimus deals Megatron a series of blows before throwing the Decepticon leader crashing into the throne. Once the other Decepticons have been dealt with, Magnus briefs Optimus, who sets out to destroy the fusion cannons. The Autobots at the base of the tower, on hearing the news, overthrow their captors.

Enraged, Megatron takes to the air and attempts to shoot down Prime. The news that there are incoming human forces has Starscream order the fusion cannons to fire, but while they're still powering up, Optimus Prime punches Megatron and tosses the Decepticon leader directly into the fusion cannon power core, disabling the cannons. The Autobots make a hasty withdrawal as Fowler's squadron unleashes missiles on Darkmount. The Decepticons likewise retreat to their warship. Smokescreen drives up the highway in time to see the fortress come crashing to the ground.

Later, at a military base, Fowler gives the Autobots a speech of thanks. The Autobots note that the Forge's power has been completely drained, but Ratchet assures Smokescreen he made the right choice.
'''Team Prime wages war against the Decepticon citadel.'''

==Synopsis==

[[File:Rebellion-Shockwave.jpg|left|thumb|250px|]]

[[File:Rebellion-prepunch.jpg|right|thumb|300px|My turn.]]

'''A new Autobot arrives just as the Decepticons unleash the ultimate hunter.'''

==Synopsis==

[[File:Prey-MegatronShockwavePredaking.jpg|left|thumb|300px|"Such primal magnificence, but Shockwave... is he housebroken?"]]

[[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]] reveals the [[Predacon (Prime)|Predacon]] he's cloned in his laboratory. [[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]] is impressed, and as the scientist gives the Predacon a whiff of [[Wheeljack (Prime)|Wheeljack]]'s energon, announces that the hunt has begun.

[[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]], Wheeljack and [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] scope out an energon mine, planning to blow it up to hopefully draw the attention of nearby Autobots, while in the ''[[Harbinger]]'', [[Raf Esquivel|Raf]], [[Ratchet (WFC)|Ratchet]] and [[Bumblebee (WFC)|Bumblebee]] work on getting the ship systems up and running. On a deserted road, [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] introduces [[Jack Darby|Jack]] to [[Ultra Magnus (WFC)|Ultra Magnus]], who has followed the Omega beam to Earth. Jack is discouraged by the fact that Ultra Magnus's sensors have only picked up five out of seven Autobots, but Arcee reminds him that the sensors wouldn't pick up shielded Autobots.

[[Smokescreen (Prime)|Smokescreen]] heads into [[Darkmount (Earth)|Darkmount]] to find the [[Forge of Solus Prime]] and figures it may have been stored within the ''[[Trypticon (WFC)|Nemesis]]''. Using the [[phase shifter]], he moves through the ship and eventually stumbles onto the vault where both [[Airachnid (Prime)|Airachnid]] and the Forge are being stored.

Wheeljack and Bulkhead finish planting explosives in the mine, but as they prepare to detonate, they spot the incoming Predacon. After dodging its initial blast of flame, they try to counterattack, and Wheeljack is knocked flying by the thing's tail. Bulkhead belts the creature shortly before it attacks him with a blast of flame, sending him flying. They quickly realise it's after Wheeljack, who lures it over a grenade. The beast is unscathed by the explosion, so Wheeljack instead leads it into the energon mine before speeding out and setting off the explosions. The dust barely has time to settle before the creature digs its way out. As the Wreckers prepare to fight, Ultra Magnus's ship streaks into view, striking the Predacon with its cannons and picking the trio up. Though a joyous reunion ensues, the ship's still being pursued. His ship's engine is damaged in the chase, and the creature manages to catch up and cling to the hull. Bringing the ship into a narrow canyon, Magnus scraps the Predacon off using a rocky outcropping.

[[William Fowler|Fowler]] gets another call he thinks is from Megatron, but this time it's Ratchet, who has hacked into the Decepticon frequencies. Ratchet doesn't have any news of Jack for [[June Darby|June]], but before he can tell them much else, Bumblebee interrupts the call. Running outside, they find Ultra Magnus's ship landing, and more reunions take place.

[[Image:Prey-Autobots.jpg|right|thumb|300px|... And remember, it's "Ultra Magnus, ''sir''."]]

The Predacon returns empty-handed to Darkmount, and Starscream reflects that it's a pity the creature can't tell them what went wrong. It responds by quietly growling.

Ratchet reports that the ''Harbinger'' [[GroundBridge]] is fully operational. The group of Autobots is soon joined by Fowler and Jack's mom. They wonder where Smokescreen's gotten to, as all the Autobot traces Magnus could detect are now accounted for. Regardless, they prepare to fight back against Megatron without either of the missing Autobots—Ultra Magnus assumes command and takes the other Autobots to equip themselves with weapons.

Smokescreen drags the Forge back to the cavern where Optimus is sheltered, but Optimus insists the Forge's power is limited and must be conserved to repair the Omega Lock. Smokescreen points out that if Optimus dies, there won't be a [[Prime (rank)|Prime]] to work the Forge, but Optimus says it's time for a new leader, and believes Smokescreen is it.

==Notes==
===Animation and technical errors===
* Megatron's forearm seems to go through his shoulder armor during the scene where the Decepticons discuss Predaking's failure.

===Continuity errors===
* Ratchet claims that Smokescreen departed the base in "[[Darkest Hour (episode)|Darkest Hour]]" to coordinates that only Optimus knows of. Yet, it was Ratchet who set the coordinates each time someone went through the GroundBridge, so he should know where each team member was sent.
* In "[[Regeneration (Prime)|Regeneration]]", Optimus claimed that recreating the Omega Keys was beyond his skill. Unless repairing an existing object doesn't require such skill, it seems even less likely that he or any Autobot given Prime status would be capable of repairing the far more complex device they were intended to operate. For that matter, it seems likely the keys themselves were destroyed in the blast.

===Continuity notes===
*Both Airachnid and the Forge were found in the remains of the Autobot base back in "[[Darkmount, NV]]".
*The [[Star Saber (Prima)|Star Saber]] can be briefly seen in a containment field over Smokescreen's shoulder after he gets spooked by Airachnid. Evidently the Decepticons recovered it sometime between "Darkmount, NV" and this episode.

===Transformers references===
*Taking note of Bumblebee's inverted paint job, Arcee dismissively comments that doing the same in her case would render her mostly pink, the dominant color for virtually every other version of [[Arcee (disambiguation)|Arcee]] (not to mention her own ''[[Transformers: War for Cybertron (franchise)|War for Cybertron]]'' body design).

===Real-world references===
*When Miko believes the explosion of the energon mine set off by Bulkhead and Wheeljack has successfully destroyed [[Predaking (Prime)|Predaking]], she shouts "Snuff the Tragic Dragon"; a play on the words of the song "Puff the Magic Dragon" by Peter, Paul, and Mary.

===Trivia===
*The worldwide premiere screening of the first three episodes was held at the Globe Theater in Universal Studios Hollywood on [[March 14]].
*The worldwide television premiere of "Prey" was a day later on okto, a Singaporean channel, where it aired back-to-back with "[[Darkmount, NV]]" and "[[Scattered]]".
*Wheeljack does not appear to be very happy on initially reuniting with his unit's commander from the war aboard the latter's ship, given that Ultra Magnus led the Wreckers on all of their excursions. This could attributed to Wheeljack's insubordination and Magnus' exaggerated regard for military protocol.
'''Optimus struggles to survive while the other Autobots try to find each other.'''

==Synopsis==
The [[Decepticon]]s search the ruins of [[Autobot Outpost Omega One|Outpost Omega One]]. [[Starscream (WFC)|Starscream]] has investigated the wreckage of the ''[[Jackhammer (Prime)|Jackhammer]]'', and returns with [[Wheeljack (Prime)|Wheeljack]] as captive. [[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]] orders him taken back to [[Darkmount (Earth)|Darkmount]] for questioning while the troops continue to search not far from where [[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus]] is half-buried. The Decepticons eventually dig up [[Airachnid (Prime)|Airachnid]], still trapped in her stasis chamber, and the [[Forge of Solus Prime]] but are unable to find any bodies. This turns out to be because [[Smokescreen (Prime)|Smokescreen]] has spirited Optimus away using the [[phase shifter]]. The young [[Autobot]] shelters his badly-damaged leader in an underground cavern. Meanwhile, as Megatron orders [[Soundwave (WFC)|Soundwave]] to monitor frequencies Earth-wide for Autobot communications, Starscream spots an incoming human military force and offers to dispatch the armada to deal with them. Megatron instead turns Darkmount's [[fusion cannon]]s on them, devastating the human forces as well as [[Jasper]].

[[File:DarkmountNV-Bumblebee.jpg|left|thumb|300px|''Black and yellow, black and yellow, black and yellow.'']]

Megatron contacts [[William Fowler|Agent Fowler]], warning him that the Decepticons should not be interfered with, but with the news that Megatron bears the humans no ill will and simply wants to settle on Earth in peace. Starscream is impressed with Megatron's talent for deception. Fowler, meanwhile, reports to [[Bryce|his superior]] that Jasper's evacuation was completed in time and a cover story in place, but the military want to nuke the Decepticons. [[June Darby]], working as a medic on the military base, asks if there's been any word from the others, but there's no way to contact anyone without giving away their position.

A patrolling [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]] scans cars moving along a road, but fails to recognize [[Bumblebee (WFC)|Bumblebee]], who has a new paint job. Bumblebee and [[Raf Esquivel|Raf]] stop and discuss how they're going to find the rest of the team, concluding the best bet is to continue heading towards Jasper. In the Rockies, [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] and [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] head towards a [[Wrecker]] meeting spot Bulkhead and Wheeljack had decided on.

Back in Darkmount, Starscream's interrogation of Wheeljack is not bearing fruit as Wheeljack doesn't know anything. Megatron orders [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]] to take a team back to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] to search for Iacon relics at their previous battle site.

[[File:DarkmountNV-SmokescreenOptimus.jpg|right|thumb|300px|Smokescreen, am I... turning grey yet?]]

Optimus stirs, and Smokescreen relates how he snuck back to the base during the evacuation, and used the phase shifter to get Optimus out. While Smokescreen is keen to go find Ratchet, Optimus stops him, saying cryptically that there is "no hope" of finding Ratchet, but powers back down into unconsciousness before he can explain.

[[Jack Darby|Jack]] and [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] pause in their travels and spot a helicopter. Arcee leaves Jack to go investigate, whereupon Jack decides that sending a text message to his mother might be safe. Unfortunately his message is detected by Soundwave, and the Decepticons swiftly dispatch a force. Jack only has time to put away his phone before a Vehicon starts strafing him. Arcee, having identified the helicopter as civilian, sees the explosions and heads back. Jack unsuccessfully seeks shelter under a truck, but Arcee gets back in time to save him. The pair set up a trap at a nearby gas station, destroying it to take out the two Vehicons and [[Laserbeak (WFC)|Laserbeak]], before fleeing.

The search for relics on Cybertron turns up the [[Apex Armor (Prime)|Apex Armor]], and... something else. Back on Earth, Soundwave is examining Laserbeak and failing to retrieve any of the surveillance data when Knock Out's call comes through. Knock Out returns triumphantly through the space bridge with a surprise guest: [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]]!
"Agent Fowler, I admit that war brings out the worst in me, but the conflict with the Autobots is now over, and our quarrel has never been with your kind. Now that the one true enemy of the Decepticons is no more, my only wish is to coexist on this planet with the human race... peacefully. Together, Agent Fowler, I believe that you and I can make that dream a reality."

==Notes==
===Animation and technical errors===
[[File:DarkmountNV-Louisiana.jpg|right|thumb|250px|]]
*As previously seen in "[[The Human Factor]]", the map of the continental [[United States]] shows [[Louisiana]] rendered within [[Texas]], with a noticeable gap along the coastline where Louisiana should be.
*While this may not be an error, given that the entire base was flattened, both the Forge Of Solus Prime and Airachnid's stasis pod should have sustained some damage, or at the very least, been coated in grime. Given that the Forge is a relic of the Primes, it may not be very malleable, but the same need not apply to the stasis pod. Both 'relics' were very much in pristine condition.
*Exactly when and how Bumblebee acquires his new paint-job is never explained, given that the natural colour of a Cybertronian tends to carry over from before he or she acquires a new alt-form and into the new vehicle mode (Smokescreen being one partial anomaly). Given that the Autobot and his human partner never did have much to choose from in terms of resources, how Bumblebee acquires a paint-job that suits his Cybertronian shell and the damage it's built to take is yet to be explained.
*In "[[Darkest Hour]]", Optimus Prime had his mouthplate retracted when he was preparing to destroy the GroundBridge controls. When he is seen lying in the rubble, he is wearing it, only for it to disappear once Smokescreen pulls him into the cavern.

===Continuity errors===
*The shape of the Decepticon citadel appears to have changed since the previous episode to accommodate the four huge fusion cannons.
*The Decepticon citadel was previously named as "New Kaon" in "[[Darkest Hour (episode)|Darkest Hour]]", only to be called Darkmount in this one. While a change of heart regarding the name isn't out of the question, there can't be more than a few hours' difference between this episode and the previous one.
*Smokescreen's return to the base is inconsistent with the previous episode, or even the flashbacks to it in this episode. He is shown to have returned within moments of the base's destruction, but was the second-to-last to use the GroundBridge, Ratchet being the last. Since Ratchet changed the coordinates, he should have returned well before the blast, and should have been spotted by Optimus when he did.

===Continuity notes===
*Fowler contacts his superior, [[Bryce|General Bryce]], previously seen in "[[Grill]]".
*This episode covers the fates of the various Iacon relics and other things left unattended in the previous episode. With the exception of the phase shifter, the relics taken by Prime's team were left on Cybertron. The Forge of Solus Prime and Airachnid both survived the destruction of the Autobot base. Still unaccounted for are Prime's [[Star Saber (Prima)|Star Saber]] and Megatron's [[Dark Star Saber]] (and the [[Dead Prime|Dead Prime's]] arm that goes with it).
*Megatron has his original arm back, last seen being removed by Knock Out in "[[Alpha/Omega]]". Evidently he kept it in storage.
*Starscream expresses surprise at Megatron's diplomatic skills, echoing an exchange in ''[[Transformers: Exodus]]''.
*The [[Milky Way]] is shown outside Cybertron, consistent with the stellar cartography in ''Exodus''.

===Transformers references===
*The name "Darkmount" comes from the [[Darkmount (Cybertron)|fortress of the same name]] first introduced in the [[The Smelting Pool!|G1 comic]]; the name was later used for a toy representing [[Straxus (G1)|the commander of Darkmount]].
*Fowler references containment procedure "G-1000" when describing the evacuation of Jasper.
*Bumblebee's new black-and-yellow paint job resembles an [[Bumblebee (Movie)#Robot mode and CG model(s)|unused redesign]] for him in ''[[Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (film)|Revenge of the Fallen]]''.

===Real-world references===
===Trivia===
*This episode was initially revealed in [[The Hub]]'s March highlights document under the name "Darkmouth, NV".
*The worldwide premiere screening of the first three episodes was held at the Globe Theater in Universal Studios Hollywood on [[March 14]].
*The worldwide television premiere of "Darkmount, NV" was a day later on okto, a Singaporean channel, where it aired back-to-back with "[[Scattered]]" and "[[Prey]]".
'''A key Decepticon arrives on Earth while Wheeljack manages a small victory.'''

==Synopsis==
[[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]] and [[Starscream (WFC)|Starscream]] are both surprised to see [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]], having believed him dead. Shockwave explains that after his battle with [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] and [[Cliffjumper (WFC)|Cliffjumper]] in the [[space bridge]], he found himself marooned on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. After repairing himself, he continued his experiments until an energy surge led him to [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]]'s team in the [[Rust Sea|Sea of Rust]]. He asks Starscream pointedly why he was left for dead, and judges the response logical enough. Megatron appoints Shockwave first lieutenant in charge of science, something Starscream doesn't seem that happy with.

[[File:Scattered-Bigfoot.jpg|left|thumb|300px|Unlike [[Bigfoot]], Ratchet is actually findable.]]

[[Jack Darby|Jack]] and Arcee stop at a deserted farmhouse for a break and Jack worries that they're all that's left of Team Prime. Arcee says there are other Autobots out there who escaped in the [[Ark (WFC)|Ark]], but who knows where they are? Meanwhile [[Raf Esquivel|Raf]] is surfing [[Internet|conspiracy websites]] in search of [[Autobot]] sightings. He hits dirt in the form of a photo of [[Ratchet (WFC)|Ratchet]] in a junkyard outside Woodland Park. Starscream, doing likewise, finds the same picture, but before he can draw the other Decepticons' attention to it, Raf replaces the picture with a dancing monkey. To quell Megatron's displeasure, Shockwave suggests using a [[cortical psychic patch]] on [[Wheeljack (Prime)|Wheeljack]]. Meanwhile, [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] and [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] are waiting fruitlessly at the Wrecker meeting spot.

[[File:Scattered-Ultra Magnus.jpg|right|thumb|300px|"Hey, who's that?"]]

Shockwave reports that the patch didn't yield any new information. Starscream announces he'll see to Wheeljack's termination, and soon Wheeljack is standing on a platform over lava. The attendant [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]]s push Wheeljack towards the edge, but he grabs one of them and throws it off before jumping himself. The Vehicon transforms to flight mode, and Wheeljack lands on its back, proceeding to go on a Vehicon-trashing flight before driving off. Megatron is very upset until Starscream reveals he's planted a tracking device on Wheeljack so the Autobot can lead them to his friends.

Bumblebee and Raf reach the junkyard to find Ratchet sitting in vehicle mode and sporting the surliest mood as the Autobots have patently lost. The pair suggest that they can use the ''Harbinger''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s resources to fight back, but Ratchet has no hope they can do anything, and tells them to leave him alone.

Meanwhile, [[Smokescreen (Prime)|Smokescreen]] has been unable to salvage anything medical from the ruins of the base. When [[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus]] asks about the [[Forge of Solus Prime]], Smokescreen reasons it must be in the fortress somewhere, and goes to look.

[[File:Scattered-loomingshadow.jpg|left|thumb|300px|So big he's got his own zipcode.]]

Bulkhead and Miko's waiting is finally rewarded by the arrival of Wheeljack. The Decepticons, monitoring Starscream's bug, see that their plan has paid off, and Starscream sends out his Vehicon seekers. The Decepticons arrive at a river, but all they see is a log floating downstream. The log turns out to have both the tracking device and a grenade attached, the latter of which takes them all out. Watching from a nearby hill, Wheeljack reveals how he found the tracking device, and says he has some more explosives.

Raf and Bumblebee try unsuccessfully to power up the ''Harbinger'', only to be pleasantly surprised when Ratchet arrives to help. Elsewhere, Jack and Arcee's journey is interrupted by the surprise arrival of a starship. It lands in front of them and out steps none-other than [[Ultra Magnus (WFC)|Ultra Magnus]].

On the ''Nemesis'', Megatron rages over Starscream's failure, but Shockwave reveals he has a wild card of his own, sitting in his lab on Cybertron. Taking a trip back to their home planet, Shockwave returns through the space bridge with the huge creature he has cloned—a [[Predacon (Prime)|Predacon]].

==Notes==
===Animation and technical errors===
*As in the previous episode, Wheeljack is perfectly clean despite being pulled from the wreckage of his ship relatively disheveled and somewhat damaged. He does retain the scars on his chest, but these don't carry over to his vehicle mode.
*As Arcee chats with Jack about other Autobots who left Cybertron, the wings on her back are missing in one shot (see the main image). A similar error occurs with Bumblebee when he and Raf try to talk to Ratchet.

===Continuity notes===
*Shockwave's battle with Arcee and Cliffjumper took place in "[[Out of the Past]]".
*Starscream brings up the fact that he offlined Cliffjumper, yet again.
*The photo Raf uses to replace Ratchet's is the same one he used in "[[New Recruit]]".
*Jack mentions the [[Key to Vector Sigma]], which Optimus gave him in "[[One Shall Rise, Part 2]]" and was returned in "[[Orion Pax, Part 3]]".
*Wheeljack counts Miko among the Wreckers when he reunites with her and Bulkhead, having unofficially inducted her into the group after she offlined [[Hardshell (Prime)|Hardshell]] in "[[Hurt]]".

===Transformers references===
*Much like its Generation 1 equivalent, Darkmount has a [[smelting pool]].
*Starscream refers to the silver Vehicons as "[[Seeker (body-type)|Seekers]]". They all have red insignia like Starscream, suggesting the coloration is indicative of their status. There only seem to be five of them in total, as Starscream specifically calls for "all seekers".
*Starscream's tracking device looks like a smaller version of [[Dreadwing's bombs]].

===Real-world references===
*Shockwave notes that "Reports of my demise were greatly premature," a paraphrase of a famous quote from [[Mark Twain]].
*The photo of Ratchet homages [[Wikipedia:File:Smalfut.jpg|a particularly iconic image of Bigfoot]].

===Trivia===
*The worldwide premiere screening of the first three episodes was held at the Globe Theater in Universal Studios Hollywood on [[March 14]].
*The worldwide television premiere of "Scattered" was a day later on okto, a Singaporean channel, where it aired back-to-back with "[[Darkmount, NV]]" and "[[Prey]]".
*Raf is an ''amazing'' hacker. He not only replaced the image file of Ratchet where it was found on the internet, he ''also'' somehow managed to change the already uploaded image on Starscream's open browser window.
*It takes Ratchet mere seconds to deduce that Starscream was using the ''Harbinger'' as a base of operations back when he was an independent agent. Surely this would have been useful when [[Triangulation|he stole the Apex Armor]], the [[New Recruit|red energon]], or the [[Inside Job|Omega Keys]]. Ah, hindsight.
*Knock Out is now the [[Ratchet (WFC)|third]] [[Starscream (WFC)|Cybertronian]] to be amused by human humor.
*Cybertronians apparently need to stretch.
*Starscream seems to be ''terrified'' of Shockwave.
The ship carries many weapons, and its hull is able to withstand the crushing water pressure of an ocean... which is exactly where it would end up.

==Fiction==
===''The Transformers'' cartoon===
[[Image:MTMTE3 Victory launch site.jpg|thumb|left|250px| Ya gotta blend into your surroundings, be part of the landscape...]]
The Decepticons' first objective upon coming back online was to set up a base of operations to support the second objective: getting back to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]] selected an unremarkable patch of land in the desert not far from the [[Ark (G1)|Autobot ship]]'s [[Mount St. Hilary|crash site]] as the location of their temporary base-to-be. [[Soundwave (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Soundwave]] was put in charge of designing a ship to return to Cybertron with while [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream]] was tasked with the construction of the temporary base. Early materials were taken from a nearby unmanned power plant and [[Energon cube|energy]] was stolen from a multitude of sources. {{storylink|More than Meets the Eye, Part 1}}

In the days that followed, a simple base was built out of rocks and metals around the ''Victory'', which was nearing its own completion. Decepticons' efforts were redistributed into amassing [[energon cube]]s for the trip back, for which they needed only 3000 astroliters more. Then Starscream happened. The imprudent [[Air Commander]] wasted a whole stack of cubes to prove their quality, using them to power one of the ''Victory''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s future cannons and shooting a nearby rock formation. In his anger, Megatron added to the setback by destroying the cannon. Soundwave suggested they'd make up for the lost cubes by stealing rocket fuel in addition to [[ruby crystal]]s, a plan that somewhat pacified Megatron and was approved. {{storylink|More than Meets the Eye, Part 2}}

[[Image:G1 cartoon Decepticon underwater base.JPG|right|270px|thumb|]]
Despite Autobot intereference, the Decepticons got everything they needed and prepared to board the ''Victory''. The Autobots made one last desperate assault on the Decepticon base, but the Decepticons escaped the battle and flew off in their ship, destroying the base in the process. [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] made the bold decision to chase after them using [[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]]'s jet pack, but the weapons on the ''Victory'' shot him down. What nobody knew though, was that [[Mirage (G1)|Mirage]] had snuck aboard during the battle. He took advantage of Starscream's latest coup attempt against Megatron to destroy several pieces of equipment. Mirage then escaped the vessel while the Decepticons desperately tried to keep it airborne, until the ''Victory'' crashed into the ocean.

Though it looked like the ''Victory'' and its crew were no more, that was far from the truth. The ''Victory'' landed neatly onto the ocean floor and the Decepticons within remained operational. {{storylink|More than Meets the Eye, Part 3}} For unknown reasons, the Decepticons did not repair the ''Victory'' for a second attempt to get to Cybertron, but in several months modified it into the main component of [[Decepticon Headquarters (G1 Earth)|their primary base]] on [[Earth]]. {{storylink|Transport to Oblivion}}

The ''Victory''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s fate after the Decepticons conquered Cybertron and abandoned Earth is unknown.
'''A key Decepticon arrives on Earth while Wheeljack manages a small victory.'''

==Synopsis==

[[File:Scattered-loomingshadow.jpg|right|thumb|300px|So big he's got his own zipcode.]]

Taking a trip back to their home planet, Shockwave returns through the space bridge with the huge [[Predacon (Prime)|Predacon]] he has cloned.
"Careful, Starscream. You may dislocate a landing gear patting yourself on the back."
:—'''Knock Out''' echoes the audience's feelings about Starscream's "I killed Cliffjumper" noise.

==Notes==
===Animation and technical errors===

===Continuity notes===

===Transformers references===

===Real-world references===
*Shockwave notes that "Reports of my demise were greatly premature," a paraphrase of a famous quote from [[Mark Twain]].
*The photo of Ratchet homages [[Wikipedia:File:Smalfut.jpg|a particularly iconic image of Bigfoot]].

===Trivia===
*The worldwide premiere of "Scattered" was on okto, a Singaporean channel, where it aired back-to-back with "[[Darkmount, NV]]" and "[[Prey]]".
*Knockout is now the [[Ratchet (WFC)|third]] [[Starscream (WFC)|Cybertronian]] to be amused by human humor.
*Cybertronians apparently need to stretch.
*Starscream seems to be ''terrified'' of Shockwave.
:—'''Knock Out''' echoes the audience's feelings about Starscream's "I killed Cliffjumper" noise.

==Notes==
===Animation and technical errors===

===Continuity notes===

===Transformers references===

===Real-world references===
*Shockwave notes that "Reports of my demise were greatly premature," a paraphrase of a famous quote from [[Mark Twain]].
*The photo of Ratchet homages [[Wikipedia:File:Smalfut.jpg|a particularly iconic image of Bigfoot]].

===Trivia===
*The worldwide premiere of "Scattered" was on okto, a Singaporean channel, where it aired back-to-back with "[[Darkmount, NV]]" and "[[Prey]]".
*Knockout is now the [[Ratchet (WFC)|third]] [[Starscream (WFC)|Cybertronian]] to be amused by human humor.
*Cybertronians apparently need to stretch.
*Starscream seems to be ''terrified'' of Shockwave.

I watched the episode, and one thing stood out: "evacuation protocol <b>G1</b>000".... Does that count as a vague reference to G1? And one more thing, optimus's mouthplate was retracted in the end of Darkest Hour, but in the rubble it was deployed. When Smokescreen took him underground it was retracted again. Note, this is an error assuming that optimus is unconcious the entire time (which he most likely is.) [[User:Legoformerguy|Legoformerguy]] 12:45, 23 March 2013 (EDT)
