'''Bumblebee''' is one of the smallest and physically weakest Autobots. While his stature allows him to do his job better than most Autobots could manage, he is self-conscious about his size. Maybe this is why he makes fast friends among the humans. He looks up (so to speak) to the other Autobots, especially [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], but what he doesn't realize is that ''they'' look up to ''him''. He may be small, but he's brave, and he's one of the most well-liked Autobots around. Bumblebee already has the respect he craves.

As '''Goldbug''' (or '''Goldfire''') —his [[Renaming|rebuilt]] and "matured" form—Bumblebee retains most of his earlier strengths and weaknesses, but without his crippling need for approval. Bumblebee was one of the several [[Autobot]]s who were carving a path through space for their planet [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] when the [[Decepticon]]s attacked their spacecraft, the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]], forcing them to crash-land on [[Earth]] 4 million years ago. When Bumblebee and the others were awoken in 1984, Bumblebee quickly befriended the [[human]] teenager [[Buster Witwicky (G1)|Buster Witwicky]].

A few years later, Bumblebee was destroyed either by [[G.I. Joe (team)|G.I. Joe]] or [[Death's Head (G1)|Death's Head]] and rebuilt into a more formidable form, Goldbug. In this form he joined [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]] and the [[Throttlebot]]s and exiled the Autobots while they were under the rule of [[Grimlock (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Grimlock]]. Bumblebee was one of the several [[Autobot]]s who were searching for energy when the [[Decepticon]]s attacked their [[Ark (G1)|spacecraft]], forcing them to crash-land on [[Earth]] 4 million years ago. When Bumblebee and the others were awoken in 1984, Bumblebee quickly befriended the [[human]] teenager [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike Witwicky]].

Bumblebee and Spike would remain friends up through Spike's adulthood, and were stationed on one of Cybertron's moons in 2005 after the Decepticons conquered Cybertron. Bumblebee survived [[Unicron]]'s attack on Cybertron, and remained in action during the leadership of [[Hot Rod (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Rodimus Prime]].

When Bumblebee was damaged badly during the [[Hate Plague]] outbreak in 2006, he had to be rebuilt into a new form, Goldbug. Goldbug would live to see the next Cybertronian Golden Age.

Bumblebee overheard the Decepticons plotting to raid sunken ships and warned the Autobots. The Autobots headed out in a ship built by [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]], and Bumblebee was sent on an underwater scouting mission. Unfortunately he ran into [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]] and [[Rumble (G1)|Rumble]], who took him prisoner. The Autobots prevailed anyway. {{storylink|Search for Treasure Under the Sea}} On another occasion, Bumblebee was the only Autobot to escape being captured and put in a [[special Autobot prison]]. Bumblebee was left guarding the base one day when he had to respond to a call from a rescue mission soon to arrive on Earth, leaving the base unguarded. He discovered too late that it was a diversion so the Decepticons could conquer the Ark and had to get the other Autobots to help him retake the base. {{storylink|A Message From Outer Space}} Bumblebee and the other Autobots were on vacation in the forest when they stumbled on the Decepticons wrecking the place. Upset at being dismissed by the other Autobots, Bumblebee drove into the nearby mountains. There, he spotted some incoming Decepticons who were using jet engine silencers, and rushed back to warn the others. Their ship was attacked by [[Decepticon]]s and crashed on [[Earth]], where the [[Transformer]]s lay dormant for four million years. When they were finally repaired by the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]], Bumblebee ventured outside and ran into [[Sparkplug Witwicky|Sparkplug]] and [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike Witwicky]] and persuaded them to help repair the rest of the [[Autobot]]s. When the Autobots subsequently had to go into battle, the two humans were left in Bumblebee's care. Bumblebee saw some Decepticons driving through a mountain pass, but waited until the next day when he, Optimus and [[Hound (G1)|Hound]] were sitting under a tree to mention it. Though he was spotted, he eluded [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]] by blinding the cat in his headlights and returned to base to report to Prime. When the Autobots discovered that the Decepticons were kidnapping humans, Bumblebee volunteered to be the one to scout the enemy base. After sneaking inside thanks to the carelessness of [[Skywarp (G1)|Skywarp]], he spotted the missing humans being used for slave labor, and also managed to steal the [[global crystal]] from the Decepticons' computer. He managed to escape the Decepticon base and hid at the bottom of a lake while the Decepticons searched fruitlessly. Bumblebee's report and the stolen global crystal allowed [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] to force the Decepticons to free their prisoners. {{storylink|Bumblebee to the Rescue (G1)|Bumblebee to the Rescue}}

Bumblebee, along with [[Windcharger (G1)|Windcharger]], [[Cliffjumper (G1)|Cliffjumper]] and [[Beachcomber (G1)|Beachcomber]] maintained a 24-hour watch on the Decepticon base in shifts. {{storylink|Menace at the Dam}} He didn't like the very idea of [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] defecting to the Autobots. Bumblebee spied on the Decepticon base until he saw Megatron's forces leaving on the wild goose chase which Optimus and [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]] had tricked Starscream into sending them on. In a path where Mirage used a hologram of Optimus Prime to lure the four [[cerebro-shell]]-controlled [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] over the edge of [[Bandit's Bluff]] and into the ocean, Bumblebee was one of the Autobots crewing [[Seaspray (G1)|Seaspray's]] that helped haul the unconscious quartet aboard for safe transport back to the Ark.

In an alternate path, Optimus Prime assigned [[Skids (G1)|Skids]] and Bumblebee to investigate suspicious activity in [[Dolphin's Bay]] using [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack's]] [[star mini-submarine|new mini-sub]]. [[Sludge (G1)|Sludge]], considering himself the best water-fighter, also wanted in on the mission, but Optimus could tell that Bumblebee and Skids didn't want him along.

If Optimus sent the pair without Sludge, they faced the option of detouring down a suspicious trail through the woods. If they did, a trap landed them in a cell in a supermodern lab, where [[Scrapper (G1)|Scrapper]] and [[Gravedigger]] disassembled them and used their remains as the first components of the [[Autobot Memorial Power Plant]].

If they continued to Dolphin's Bay and the sub, they traced electromagnetic waves back to some [[black coral]]. Bumblebee exited the hatch to break a piece off, triggering an explosion which trapped him in a canyon beneath broken columns of crimson coral. Without underwater gear, Skids's only options were to use the computer to translate some nearby dolphins' language and ask them for help, or go back to the channel where he could radio Seaspray. If he went back for help, Seaspray used his laser to free Bumblebee, but then [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] blew all three of them up with a cluster bomb. If Skids tried translating the dolphins' language, he succeeded in five minutes, talking the three largest dolphins into moving the broken coral. Bumblebee brought the black coral and his report back to Optimus Prime, ensuring an Autobot victory.

If Prime ''did'' include Sludge on Bumblebee and Skids's mission, Bumblebee used an underwater cave to infiltrate [[Mount Lomas]], where he heard [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] making a speech about Operation Black Coral vanquishing the Autobots in less than a day. He radioed the info to Skids, but [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]] intercepted the transmission. Bumblebee dove back into the water, only to be paralyzed by the sonic attack of [[Frenzy (G1)|Frenzy]]. From that point, there are four possible endings, all of which include an Autobot victory and Bumblebee's rescue. {{storylink|Dinobots Strike Back}}

====Attack of the Insecticons====
Bumblebee was present while Ironhide was testing a new device of Sparkplug's invention, the Sun-Pak. When the Decepticons subsequently ambushed the Autubots' underground testing facility to steal the Sun-Pak, Bumble found a tunnel and possible escape route for the Autobots to use. He informed Optimus Prime of this passage, and awaited his leader's decision on whether to use the escape route, or continue to fight the Decepticons, despite the Autobots' waning power levels.

If the Optimus decides to not only fight the Decepticons, but have all the Autobots concentrate their fire upon Starscream, refusing the Decepticon's surrender even once the odds have turned against the leader of the Decepticons' raiding party, the Decepticons manage to kidnap Sparkplug. Bumblebee, alongside Blaster and Buster, are sent on a rescue mission while the rest of the Autobots return to base to recharge. Tracking Starscream's location to a museum in the suburbs, Bumblebee is forced to wait outside, in the museum's parking lot, while Buster and a disguised Blaster investigate. If Blaster and Buster later return to Bumblebee for assistance, informing the little yellow Autobot that Starscream and Bombshell are alone in the museum with their captive, and intend to use a Cerebro-Shell to mind-control Sparkplug, Bumblebee formulates a plan. Using Bumblebee's speed and Blaster's Electro-Scramblers, the Autobots spoil Bombshell's aim and have him hit Starscream with his Cerebro-Shell in-lieu of Sparkplug. The easily manipulated Seeker is then tricked by the Autobots to release Sparkplug and forestall Bombshell, as Bumblebee, Blaster, Buster and Sparkplug make their way to Autobot base, laughing all the way at the Decepticons' misfortune.

If Optimus decides to have his Autobots follow Bumblebee into the tunnel the little yellow Autobot discovered at any point during their initial encounter with the Decepticon forces, Bumblebee encounters a fork in the tunnel that he admits was not there when he first discovered the tunnel. Not knowing which leads to the surface, the Autobots are once again forced to make a choice. And though one tunnel does indeed lead to the surface, the other leads to the Insecticons' nest!

In the event that the Autobots choose the tunnel leading to the surface, the Autobots lose possession of the Sun-Pak to the Insecticons nonetheless. If Optimus decides to have the Autobots return to base to refuel in light of these events, Bumblebee is the one to discover the booby-trapped Sun-Pak in Decepticon territory once the Autobots have ventured there in an attempt to diplomatically retrieve the device from the Decepticons. {{storylink|Attack of the Insecticons}}

Bumblebee dropped Spike off at school and waited around in the carpark, where he was stolen by two car thieves, [[Jack (thief)|Jack]] and [[Rick (thief)|Rick]]. At the death of [[Sentinel Prime (G1)|Sentinel Prime]], Bumblebee was part of an Autobot unit defending [[Altihex]] from the Decepticons, but it was ultimately declared a lost cause. [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailbreaker]] had to pull him aboard the shuttle once they realized there was nothing left to do. [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] ordered him, [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]], [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]], and others to the ruins of [[Praxus]], where Grimlock declared that if the new [[Prime (rank)|Prime]] was unable to lead successfully, they would take control of the war's leadership... and take out the Prime. Bumblebee was among the group that was present for the Matrix transfer ceremony, where Optronix became [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]. When a Decepticon assassination squad arrived and Optimus kicked some exhaust port, Bumblebee declared that he was "awesome". Bumblebee was one of the Ark crew that crashed on Earth and awoke in 1984. During that time, he met Spike Witwicky, becoming close friends with the human. In 1999, the Autobots and humans allied and managed to capture the Decepticons, taking them in the ''[[Ark II]]'' back to Cybertron, along with [[Magnificent Seven|seven humans]], including [[Sparkplug Witwicky]], Spike's father. However, the ''Ark II'' was sabotaged by rogue elements of the United States military (apparently as part of a plan by Shockwave). {{storylink|Prime Directive issue 1|Prime Directive #1}} The humans were all killed, but a number of Transformers, including Bumblebee, survived, but in [[stasis lock]]. Bumblebee's body was recovered by [[Robert Hallo|General Hallo]] and [[Lazarus|Adam Rook]], but Rook stole Bumblebee and a number of other Transformers, selling them to various terrorists. Optimus Prime's team later rescued him and the remaining Autobots, and they were all put to work in combating Megatron's techno-virus. {{storylink|Prime Directive issue 5|Prime Directive #5}} Unfortunately, the [[Canada|Canadian]] military, skittish over the recent Transformer violence, attacked the Autobots. The battle was memorable, but brief, thanks largely to the arrival of the renegade Autobot known as Grimlock. After fighting their way through [[Bonecrusher (G1)|Bonecrusher]] and the other [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicons]] on the outskirts of town, the Autobots managed to make it to the center of the Strip to confront Soundwave. Fortunately, the Autobots had long since developed internal jammers to prevent Soundwave from reading their thoughts during a battle, but that didn't make things easy. Fighting their way around the casinos, Bumblebee finally collapsed a massive neon sign on top of Soundwave, temporarily ending the fight. Bumblebee and Prowl's luck turned sour, though, with the arrival of Starscream and the mighty Devastator. The sudden appearance of a spatial gateway depositing Optimus and the other lost Transformers, along with their captors the [[Keeper (species)|Keepers]], was just one set of complications on top of another. {{storylink|Transformers: Hardwired|Hardwired}}''

Sometime later, the Autobots received visitors from Cybertron. Representing a united Cybertronian government of both Autobots and Decepticons, they claimed the Transformers on Earth were a throwback to darker days, and wanted to take them into custody to prevent their "anachronistic" feud from upsetting Cybertron's populace. The Autobots under Optimus Prime split into two groups, with Bumblebee and several others joining their leader in surrendering to [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]]'s forces, while Jazz led a small group away from the Ark to continue monitoring activities on Earth. Once they arrived on Cybertron, it became clear that there was a rotten core to the new government, namely [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]]. Along with [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]], he was sealed off from the rest of the crew in the crash, and therefore avoided capture when [[Cobra]] broke into the ship and stole the dormant Transformers therein. Attempting to find the missing Transformers, Bumblebee disguised himself as a Volkswagen Beetle, an altmode that really got on his nerves after months of fruitless searching. Joe vs. the Transformers #2}} When Cobra attacked the [[SPS Research Facility]], the Autobots were waiting for them, and Bumblebee punched out a brainwashed [[Rumble (G1)|Rumble]] before helping [[G.I. Joe (team)|G.I. Joe]]'s [[Laser Squad]] get out of some rubble. Unfortunately, the humans didn't quite trust the giant robots, and [[Cover Girl]] fired a missile at 'Bee, who ''grabbed the projectile in mid-air'' and threw it at Rumble instead. He and Wheeljack eventually convinced G.I. Joe they were good guys, and the humans provided them with the information needed to undo Cobra's reprogramming of the other Transformers. {{storylink|G.I. As G.I. Joe prepared to attack [[Cobra Island]], Bumblebee and Wheeljack came with them. However, the United States government preferred nuke the island and dissect the two aliens at [[Area 51]], and Bumblebee was struck with a magnetic pulse and incapacitated. Luckily, Wheeljack convinced [[Duke (G.I. Joe)|Duke]] that a nuclear strike on Cobra's [[energon]] stockpile would lead to worldwide devastation, so G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers #4}} Upon arrival, Bumblebee watched as the [[SPS Satellite]]'s energy beam struck an energy-gathering dish on the island, then helped G.I. It soon transpired that the United States government were sending the nukes regardless of G.I. Joe's presence on the island, so the Autobots and humans made their way to the SPS Satellite's controls, where Bumblebee found a cowering [[Doctor Mindbender]]. While Mindbender was forced to calibrate the satellite's beams to shoot down the approaching nuclear warheads, the facility came under attack by [[Storm Shadow]], [[Firefly]] and various Cobra troopers. During the battle, Bumblebee defeated Storm Shadow and his heavily damaged [[S.N.A.K.E.]] suit. He then cheered as [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] defeated Megatron and shot down the SPS Satellite, and he later returned to Cybertron aboard a new ''Ark''. {{storylink|G.I. Two years later, Bumblebee was sent back through time to [[1970]]'s [[San Francisco]] by a malfunctioning [[Teletran 3]], and was left dormant in the form of a Ford Pinto. He was found and reactivated by several G.I. Joes and Cobra members sent to get him back to the future, but both Bumblebee and [[Zartan]] were disappointed with his altmode compared to the much fancier car his fellow time-lost Autobot [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]] turned into. After hunting down [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] and [[Blitzwing (G1)|Blitzwing]] in the same era, the team returned to their own time. {{storylink|G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers II issue 1|G.I. An agreement was made between the Autobots and G.I. Joe to decommission any Cybertronian technology left on Earth, and Bumblebee was sent back to Earth along with [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]], [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] and [[Arcee (G1)|Arcee]], the last of whom he was very flirty with. When [[Area 52 (G1)|Area 52]] came under attack from Cobra, Bumblebee noticed that [[Cobra Commander]] was using the attack as a diversion to infiltrate the facility's lower levels. He pursued the Commander, but was rendered unconscious when Zartan planted an electromagnetic scrambler on him. {{storylink|The Art of War issue 1|The Art of War #1}} Just when Cobra Commander was about to smash the robot's face in with a lead pipe, the other Autobots and G.I. Joes arrived and saved him. While Arcee was worried about his low energy levels, Bumblebee assured her that seeing her was all the recharge he needed. However, it was soon revealed what Cobra Commander had come for: [[Serpentor|Serpent O.R.]], a biotechnological weapon created from Megatron's remains. He was also just as power-hungry as Megatron, and took control of [[G.I. Joe battle mech|G.I. Along with a group of Joes, the Autobots followed Serpent O.R. to their home planet, and ended up getting attacked by [[cannibalizer]]s in a junkyard. As they retreated to avoid human casualties, Bumblebee tried to extort a kiss from Arcee if he could outrace her, but she upped the bet by offering to rotate his tires if he could pull it off. Bumblebee accelerated in anticipation... and drove straight into [[Predaking (G1)|Predaking]], who stomped him unconscious. Serpent O.R., who had recruited Predaking alongside various other Decepticons, complimented the little Autobot's courage and resilience, noting that he could probably survive with the proper medical attention. He was reformatted into a [[World War II]]-era motorcycle, complete with sidecar, and thought Optimus Prime was a bit pessimistic when he worried that [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] might no longer exist. {{storylink|Transformed}} The Autobots subsequently joined G.I. Joe on their mission to eliminate Cobra and their Decepticon allies. Bumblebee overheard [[Duke (G.I. Joe)|Duke]] and [[Stalker (G.I. Joe)|Stalker]] discussing that [[Snake-Eyes]] had vanished, and tried to reassure [[Scarlett]] that the missing Joe would show up eventually. Before long, the group came under attack from Cobra paratroopers, but the bullets merely bounced off Bumblebee, who happily suggested that the Autobots should try out their new bodies in action. {{storylink|Trial by Fire}}

Upon entering combat, the Autobots were faced with [[Rumble (G1)|Rumble]], who was easily taking out the larger tank Autobots with his earthquakes. While Bumblebee was busy explaining who Rumble was, Scarlett commandeered him (noting how "sweet" it was that he had never been driven before) and drove into action, jumping above the Decepticon and destroying him with a grenade. Bumblebee felt that he and Scarlett made a nice team, and sheepishly told her that she could drive him anytime. After the Decepticon [[Surge (event)|Surge]] and their subsequent retreat from Earth, Optimus Prime gave himself up to [[Skywatch]] and [[Hot Rod (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Hot Rod]] took a splinter group with the aim of getting off the planet by any means necessary, Bumblebee was elected leader by the remaining Autobots. What followed was a leadership in a constant state of crisis, as few respected his authority, with many continuing to defer to the returned Optimus Prime. After the Chaos War, Bumblebee found himself in nominal charge of the reborn Cybertron as Optimus Prime once again departed, this time in the face of a hostile [[NAIL|civilian population]], and the renamed "Rodimus" again took a splinter group of Autobots elsewhere, this time on a quixotic quest for the [[Knights of Cybertron]]. Played by all, an uprising led by [[Megatron (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Megatron]] proved the final straw for the civilian "NAILs" with both factions, and with [[Starscream (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Starscream]] renouncing his faction and grasping the opportunity, both Bumblebee's Autobots and the Decepticons were exiled to the Cybertronian wilderness.

In an alternate universe, the Transformers landed on Earth before the Ice Age, taking on the forms of dinosaurs and giant insects. When the climate became too cold for [[Ice Age Wars|the war]] to continue, Bumblebee and the other Autobots entered into [[stasis lock]] to prevent further damage. Thousands of years later, Bumblebee awoke to the age of humans from the noise of John Henry's hammering. Bumblebee was impressed by the humans' industriousness, and disguised himself as a small steam locomotive with no control cab, and a built in steam-hammer for driving spikes. {{storylink|Hearts of Steel issue 1|Hearts of Steel #1}} Initially, 'Bee directly competed with steel-driving legend [[John Henry]]. The Autobots continued to stand guard over humanity until the modern day, when Ratchet was captured by the human organization [[Skylogic Systems]], prompting Bumblebee and Optimus Prime to investigate. Their search led them to the [[Lone Gunmen]], three humans who revealed that they were out to stop Skylogic from producing a virus made partially from Ratchet's DNA. Joining forces, the Autobots and Gunmen captured and interrogated Skylogic scientist [[David Simmons]], learning the location of where Ratchet was being held. Being the smaller of the Autobots, Bumblebee took the form of a military vehicle (to his chagrin) and infiltrated the facility with the Gunmen, hitting it off particularly well with his "ninja buddy" [[Richard Langly]]. While freeing Ratchet he was paralyzed by a Skylogic weapon, and though he urged the others to run, Langly turned back and destroyed the weapon, allowing him to escape. Oh, and that since the Autobots now ''knew'' Flamewar's whereabouts and who she was working for, the Tripredacus Council would certainly consider her a liability. Which they did. Bumblebee was part of a small Autobot team led by Optimus Prime who left Cybertron to pursue the [[Energon Cube]] through space. When the giant energy source crashed on Earth, in the Japanese town of [[Hoshinochō]], it shattered into fragments that were scattered far and wide. Bumblebee and the other Autobots set up a subterranean base below the Cube's impact crater, and began their search for the shards, taking the forms of local vehicles to hide their activities. Despite their attempts at remaining unseen, glimpses of the Autobots only magnified the reputation the crash of the Cube (believed by humans to be a meteor) had given Hoshinochō: that of a hotbed of rumored alien and UFO activity, Japan's answer to [[United States of America|America]]'s Roswell.

Eleven years later, the driverless vehicle-mode Bumblebee was spotted by a schoolchild in the vicinity of the [[Star Dome]], a building since constructed over the Cube crater. Hearing the story from this witness, fame-seeking schoolboy [[Wataru Hoshinoumi]] ditched school to investigate the Star Dome, only for coincidence to lead him to step right in front of the speeding Bumblebee! Bumblebee was forced to transform and vault over the boy to prevent injuring him, but was able to make his escape before Wataru got a good look at him. Bumblebee hastily continued on his way to the Star Dome, and arrived to find it under attack by [[Starscream (G1)#Henkei! Henkei! Bun Bun manga|Starscream]] and [[Ramjet (G1)#Henkei! Henkei! Bun Bun manga|Ramjet]]. Wataru, too, had made it to the Dome, and Bumblebee saved him from Starscream before realizing with surprise that he was the same boy from earlier. {{storylink|Enter! The Transformers}} The other Autobots soon arrived to join the fight, and Bumblebee tried to protect Wataru from injury by scooping him up and tossing him to the relative safety of the stands. For his trouble, the small Autobot was pinned by Starscream, but Wataru returned the favor by blinding the Decepticon with a fire extinguisher. The battle was then joined by the Decepticon leader [[Megatron (G1)#Henkei! Henkei! Bun Bun manga|Megatron]], who attempted to make an example of Bumblebee and Wataru by blasting them with his fusion cannon, but at the last second, Optimus Prime was apparently able to deflect Megatron's shot with one of his own. Megatron covered the Decepticons' subsequent retreat by collapsing a part of the Star Dome, but Bumblebee protected Wataru from the rubble by shielding him with his own body. The pair then properly introduced themselves to one another, and Wataru was invited into the Autobots' base for an explanation. {{storylink|The Emperor of Destruction Appears!}}

Bumblebee and Prime showed Wataru through their base on their way to the medical bay, where Bumblebee was to be treated for repairs. Bumblebee did not relish Optimus's medical ministrations, and the two Autobots were so busy trying to get through the process that they did not notice Wataru touching the large shard of the Energon Cube that they had recovered in their time on Earth. A bizarre energy discharge resulted that not only showed the Autobots images of [[Generation 1 (franchise)|another time and place]], but also healed all of Bumblebee's wounds. Prime pulled Wataru away from the shard and things returned to normal, leaving Bumblebee and the boy to marvel over what had occurred, and Prime to ponder what it might mean. Bumblebee then took Wataru back to school, but when he nearly blabbed everything that had happened to him to the assembled teachers, students and police, Bumblebee was forced to bump into him from behind shut him up. Unfortunately for 'Bee, he then had to beat a hast retreat as the police came chasing after him for his "hit and run" offense! {{storylink|Kingdom of Giants}}

Bumblebee was next called into action when Starscream attacked a hydro-electric power plant with the help of his brainwashed comrade, [[Jetfire (G1)#Henkei! Henkei! Bun Bun manga|Skyfire]]. {{storylink|The Enemy from the Arctic}} Once again, Bumblebee tried to save Wataru from the Decepticons and was blasted as a result. This time, however, the pair were both saved by Skyfire, who was struggling against the mind-controlling influence of the helmet Starscream had placed on his head. All the combatants were shocked when a surge of familiar surge of energy erupted from Wataru's body; again, Bumblebee's wounds were healed, and Skyfire was empowered to overcome the helmet. Skyfire helped fend the Decepticons off and joined the Autobots, returning with them to their base where Prime explained to Bumblebee what he had come to understand about Wataru: he was a being known as a "[[Booster]]", born with the ability to control the energies of the Energon Cube. Both Bumblebee and Wataru were very excited at the idea that Wataru would now be able to help the Autobots in their fight. {{storylink|Wataru's Power}}

Bumblebee was soon put to work gathering energy from nearby power plants. He was soon overjoyed when Optimus Prime was recovered enough to lead them again. After discovering the Decepticon [[space bridge]], the Autobots used it to return to Cybertron, only to find that [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] had conquered it. Stripped of their weapons, they were imprisoned, but Bumblebee and Ratchet soon escaped and freed their fellows, leading to an escape back to Earth.

Following more adventures on Earth, including helping [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] and repelling an assault on the Ark, Bumblebee and the other Autobots returned to Cybertron, intending to free their enslaved fellows there. Arcee is a merciless and deadly warrior who's an expert in hand-to-hand combat and one of the best sharpshooters on record. The reason for her ferocity is how much she cares for her fellow Autobots and especially the [[human]]s they protect. She knows how fragile her organic companions are, and she's equally aware of the evils the [[Decepticon]]s are capable of. Peers such as [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] and [[Springer (G1)|Springer]] may be more durable than the humans, but she no less fights to defend them as well. They get in plenty of trouble, so someone has to be the level-headed one. (Some believe Arcee has a [[Transformer romance|romantic]] attraction to either of those two, but that depends on who and when you ask.)

If concern for her friends is her strength, it's regrettably also her weakness. If anything would happen to, say, [[Daniel Witwicky (G1)|Daniel Witwicky]], she might just completely lose it. And she may be quick, but she's not very strong.

When Ultra Magnus, [[Kup (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Kup]], and [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike Witwicky]] were discovered missing, she and Springer took off after the perceived kidnapper. This time, the Decepticons were fooled into releasing the Quintessons’ dangerous experiments, the [[Trans-Organic]]s, and their most powerful member The [[Dweller]], a giant energy leech that turned all Transformers into energy vampires. After trying to fight off both Galvatron and the Dweller in the dark tunnels, only she and Ultra Magnus were able to escape and warn Rodimus Prime and [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] in time to stop the Dweller and turn the other Transformers back to normal. {{storylink|The Dweller in the Depths}}

She, along with Rodimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, and Springer became the targets of crime lord [[Victor Drath]] after busting one too many of his operations. With the help of [[Cobra Commander|Old Snake]], the four Autobots were captured. Their minds were transferred from their bodies into the forms of [[synthoid]] humans. They managed to escape disposal by Drath’s men, and Arcee eventually made it back to Autobot City in an attempt to warn their comrades that their former bodies were going to be used to blow up the city. Being an unrecognizable human, no one believed her, and she was locked in a detention cell instead. The almost maternal connection between Daniel and Arcee was a powerful one, which was only strengthened some time later when Galvatron tried his most ambitious plan. Using the [[Key to the Plasma Energy Chamber|Key]] to the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]], Galvatron tried to release its destructive power. Arcee, along with Hot Rod, Kup, and a large Autobot crew, managed to snatch the key away and escaped to the far off planet of [[Nebulos]]. There, they became embroiled in the Nebulons' struggle for freedom against their own oppressors, the [[Hive (G1)|Hive]]. In an effort to combat both the Hive and the Decepticons that had tracked them down, the Autobots and the Nebulons agreed to become partners and developed the [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmaster]] and [[Targetmaster]] processes. In the divergent [[universal stream]] of Primax 903.0 Beta, splintered off from the mainstream timeline when the time-tossed Decepticon [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]] altered history, Arcee was selected to participate in the [[Timaeus Project]], an Autobot experiment to breach super-dimensional space being carried out on the urging of the mysterious [[Optimus Primal/Beast Wars cartoon continuity|Protector]], a disembodied spark from the future. Arcee's consciousness was transferred into a [[Binaltech]] body, and after saying goodbye to the Protector, she began her objective: driving in around an accelerator track while a chip in her cerebro-circuitry helped focus her thoughts towards breaching "superspace". Just as she succeeded in opening a rift into higher-dimensional space, however, a Decepticon attack led by [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] struck Autobot City. Fearing for the safety of the Protector and the future he represented, Arcee recklessly attempted to go to his rescue, leaping off the track without taking the proper slowdown procedures. Arcee's body was crushed by undissipated kinetic energy, but in her unconscious state, the Protector's spark contacted her, and told her that he was unimportant: it was the Timaeus Project and its researchers who had to be saved. 38 seconds later, Arcee awoke, her spark having been automatically transferred to a spare S-2000 Binaltech unit, and she fulfilled the Protector's wishes, saving the project's human workforce and the [[Alternium|strange object]] that had passed through the rift she had opened. As Ultra Magnus and the others assaulted the Decepticons directly, Arcee managed to free the Protector from the villains' clutches. In 2011, Arcee was stationed at the Autobots' secondary command post on the planet [[Athenia]] when Cybertron's mega-computer [[Vector Sigma]] began to destabilize, threatening the planet and opening it up to an attack by Decepticons and their new "Headmaster" warriors. {{storylink|Four Warriors Come out of the Sky}} She remained there with Hot Rod, Kup, Blurr and [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike Witwicky]] and [[Carly]] to hold down the fort while the other Autobots joined the battle on Cybertron, and watched from afar as an object that they believed to be a star also headed for the planet. The "star" was in actuality the colossal spaceship the Maximus, carrying the Autobot Headmasters from their homeworld of planet [[Master (planet)|Master]], and with their added strength, the Autobot forces were able to rout the Decepticons. While Optimus Prime headed into Cybertron's depths to try and stabilize the computer, Arcee helped welcome the Autobot Headmasters to Athenia, and again remained on the planet with Kup and Blurr while most of the other Autobots began searching for the missing Matrix of Leadership on Earth, required to bring Vector Sigma under control. While the Autobot Headmasters went to investigate Praum, Rodimus radioed in that the energy report was a fake, prompting Arcee to re-examine the report and discover it had been given by hypnotised victim of the Decepticon Headmaster [[Mindwipe (G1)|Mindwipe]]. When the Decepticons launched another major attack on Cybertron in order to seize control of the new alloy [[cybertonuron]] that Vector Sigma had created, Arcee rushed to the planet to join the battle, though she and Kup were held up by having to stop and pull Blurr out of a chair he'd gotten stuck in. The trio watched as Rodimus and Galvatron battled. {{storylink|Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 1}} Unfortunately, the Autobots did not reckon with Decepticon Headmaster leader [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]], who used [[plasma energy]] bombs to destroy Cybertron, rather than allow Galvatron to obtain the cybertonuron. Maximus Is in Danger}} During the fight on Mars, Fortress was hit by a blast of energy by the Decepticons that drained all his power, and Arcee desperately tried to raise him on the communications channel. MegaZarak Appears}} Unbelievably, the villains succeeded in the goal, and Arcee joined with Spike and [[Broadside (G1)|Broadside]] in scanning the planetary debris to assess the damage the planet's destruction had caused to the solar system. After they reported their findings to Fortress, a strange new phenomenon appeared on Athenia: Daniel and Wheelie saw a UFO! Arcee filled Fortress in on the mystery sighting, and travelled with the Autobot Headmasters to watch as Daniel tried communicating with the strange visitor via music. Arcee was the first to speak out in favour of offering aid to the energy-depleted planet [[Sandra (planet)|Sandra]], and gathered information on the Autobots' energon stockpiles in order to verify the energy could be spared. {{storylink|SOS from Planet Sandra}} Soon after, Arcee used [[Teletraan I (G1)|Teletraan I]] to send a request from Spike to Galvatron about the unlikely possibility of the two factions uniting in a new energy research programme... and received a surprised response in the positive! Unfortunately, the negotiations proved to be a Decepticon distraction, granting the rest of the villains time to depart on an interplanetary energy-plundering quest. Once the Autobots discovered they had been duped, they set off in pursuit of their foes across space; Arcee accompanied them, helping to look after Daniel and Wheelie on the trip. {{storylink|Daniel Faces His Biggest Crisis Ever!!}}

The Autobots discovered that the Decepticons' first target was the planet [[Hive (planet)|Hive]] when they found a damaged ship and an injured soldier from the planet floating in space. Arcee did her best to save the soldier's life with the Maximus's medical equipment, but his wounds were to severe. {{storylink|Fight to the Death on Planet Hive!!}} Next, the Decepticons went after the planet [[Twin Star|Sperity]]; Fortress instructed [[Brainstorm]] to take Arcee, Daniel and Wheelie to Sperity's barren twin [[Twin Star|Toruin]] where they could be safe until the fighting was over. However, the quartet discovered that most of Sperity's population had evacuated to a subterranean city on Toruin, and Arcee was forced to volunteer herself as a "hostage", remaining on Toruin as a show of good faith while Brainstorm went to pass this important information on to the Autobots on Sperity. {{storylink|Battle for Defense of the False Planet}}

Arcee's image was programmed into one of Daniel's video games as a hapless damsel who had to be saved from sprites of the Decepticon Headmasters. Fortunately, she didn't take any offense at this, and happily watched Daniel play the game, complimenting him on his marksmanship. Soon after, the Autobots saved the injured [[Beastformer]] [[Tekna]] from the planet Darhos, and Arcee monitored his vitals as Chromedome tried and failed to save his life. {{storylink|Find MegaZarak's Weak Spot!!}} Arcee then joined the Autobots in traveling to planet [[Paradise]], {{storylink|Head Formation of Friendship}} and [[Pirate Planet]], but just really stood around on the Maximus and didn't do much. {{storylink|Mystery of the Space Pirate Ship}} She carried on doing nothing after the Autobots returned to Athenia {{storylink|Ultra Magnus Dies!!}} and even took the time to advocate that ''others'' do nothing as well, such as when she had Spike refrain from contacting Fortress in the face of a diversionary Decepticon attack. {{storylink|The Emperor of Destruction Vanishes on an Iceberg}} She spent most of the time that immediately followed sitting at a monitor, either sending communications or overseeing Fortress's telekinetic surgery on an injured Spike. Fortress's victory over Scorponok forced the Decepticons off of Earth, leaving the Autobots to begin clean-up operations and restore the damage done to the planet. Arcee was appointed Spike's aide in his meeting with the [[United Nations]], working to help co-ordinate the relief effort; their first endeavour was the destruction of the Decepticons' abandoned Earth headquarters. {{storylink|Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 1)}} Despite these new duties, however, Arcee still joined with the other Autobots in travelling to the planet Master when word reached them that Scorponok had withdrawn there and was causing chaos. Arcee's massively importantly contribution to the Autobots' return flight to Earth was reminding Daniel and Wheelie to wear their seatbelts. Soon after touching down on the planet, Arcee received a report that an airliner carrying Spike and Carly had crashed in the Andes, prompting Daniel and the Headmasters to head to the rescue. {{storylink|The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 1)}} She then ''finally'' stepped back on to the battlefield for the first time in ages when she joined all the other Autobots in a climactic final battle with the Decepticons at the North Pole. Arcee was constructed by the Autobots in an alternate future 1995 as a good-will attempt to placate [[Feminist mob|angry feminists]] who thought that they were "sexist" for having no women in their group. After trying multiple times to explain that Autobots, being robots, had no gender, [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Optimus Prime]] surrendered and ordered the creation of a new Autobot who would meet the humans' demands for sexual equality. However, when Arcee was unveiled at a public ceremony, her pink, skinny and curvaceous form enraged the very audience Prime intended to placate. [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]], [[Horri-Bull (G1)|Horri-Bull]], [[Fangry]] and [[Squeezeplay (G1)|Squeezeplay]] who immediately attacked, looking to crush the "secret weapon" that was promised. Prime warned Arcee to stay back, lest she get hurt in battle, but the female Autobot, rightfully annoyed at the Autobots' lack of faith in her equal ability, singlehandedly forced the Decepticons into a retreat. Arcee and Hot Rod became quite friendly, but with his ascension to Prime status in 2006, they began to drift apart. She was stationed at [[Autobot City (G1)|Autobot City]] on Earth and got bored by her duties. The [[Quintesson]]s attacked in 2008, stringing out the city's population to the wall and using a wounded Arcee as bait to attract Rodimus; when he tried to use the Matrix to heal her, they stole it and he reverted to Hot Rod. Despite her injuries, she assisted him in awakening [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]] and devastating the Quintesson fleet. {{storylink|Space Pirates!}}

In 2009, Arcee tracked down [[Soundwave (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Soundwave]] and the [[Terrorcon (G1)|Terrorcons]] on Earth, where they were planning to use a laser bore to leech energy right from the planet's core. Joining a small Autobot detachment, they destroyed the drill and returned to Autobot City to face the greater threat: a timestorm that threatened 20 years of history with destruction. As Galvatron had spent months back in the 20th century, the universe was unraveling from the anomaly.

Arcee, Rodimus and several other Autobots traveled back in time to 1989 in order to retrieve the Decepticon villain. Unfortunately, the Autobots of that day mistook them for imposters and tried to kill them. Arcee was nearly mauled to death by the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] before [[Bumblebee (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Goldbug]] explained that they were actually travelers from the future. Even more unfortunately, Galvatron had acquired some allies in the past: Scourge, [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]], and the mighty [[Straxus (G1)|Megatron]]. She joined Kup and Ultra Magnus in trying to triple-team Megatron, but was only swatted aside like a bothersome insect. Arcee survived, however, and managed to take a few cheap shots at Galvatron later on in the fight. Arcee and the Autobots returned to their time only to find it had reset so Galvatron never time-jumped and had instead conquered Cybertron. Kup led Hot Rod, Arcee, and the Dinobots on a special mission to take supplies from Earth to a space station on Cybertron's second moon. Despite Kup's warnings, the Dinobots loaded too many supplies onto the ship, and the ship crashed on a planet. Everyone landed safely, but Kup recognized the place. It was the planet [[Quintessa|Quintesson]]! They were interrupted by a tribal scream and a flurry of firestones. However, the boy who made his presence known was not aiming at them, but at the Quintessons behind them. The boy's name was [[Wheelie (G1)|Wheelie]], and he had been abandoned on the planet when his ship crashed there earlier.

During a battle against a horde of killer [[Nightbird (G1)|Nightbirds]], [[Wheelie (G1)|Wheelie]] and [[Daniel Witwicky (G1)|Daniel]] (now an adult) sacrificed their lives to end the threat. The death of Daniel took a serious toll on Arcee, who became reclusive, preferring to sit alone with images of her former [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmaster partner]]. Over time, she slipped away from her friends entirely, disappearing within [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. After an unspecified event, she took on the form of a techno-organic spider, and learned the skills of both [[Crystalocution]] and the previously lost art of [[Tekkaido]]. She strongly believed that she had premonitions of her friends' deaths before they would happen, and this knowledge had driven her insane. She hid herself away, hoping to spare herself the pain of experiencing this phenomenon.

Hundreds of [[stellar cycle]]s later, when [[Predacon (BW)|Predacon]] [[Megatron (BW)/Beast Wars cartoon continuity|Megatron]] returned from [[Earth]]'s past and conquered Cybertron with his army of [[Vehicon (BM)|Vehicons]], Arcee's solitude spared her from the onslaught. [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]], now known simply as Rodimus, had helped form a new team of [[Wrecker]]s and wished to enlist Arcee. But Arcee rejected his offer as she was still too embittered by her experience, though she was touched by the Wrecker [[Fractyl (BW)|Fractyl]]'s words. Rodimus's Wreckers were followed by Megatron's new Vehicon generals, [[Quake (G1)|Quake]] and [[Blastcharge (BM)|Blastcharge]], causing a battle that resulted in Fractyl's near-death. Refusing to lose another, Arcee used her spark to save Fractyl, also reformatting him into a Transmetal body. Arcee was oddly unable to foresee the deaths of [[Spittor (BW)|Spittor]] and [[Sonar (BW)|Sonar]], a result of a yet-unknown saboteur amongst their ranks, as she happily watched CatSCAN discover himself while working on Fractyl. Their ship set down on their [[Oracle (BM)|Oracle]]-given destination, the remote planet of [[Akalo|Archa Nine]]. Arcee stayed behind with a few others to repair damage to their ship by their mysterious saboteur, who turned out to be fellow Wrecker [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]]. Cyclonus stole the [[Divine Light]], the artifact the Wreckers were searching for, and returned to his true master, [[Cryotek (RID)|Cryotek]]. {{storylink|Betrayal}}

Arcee blamed herself, as she hadn't been able to foresee death since she saved Fractyl. Demoralized, Arcee and the Wreckers left Archa Nine and headed to another planet at the insistence of their divinely-inspired leader, [[Primal Prime]]. They landed on a small icy planet, and a small scout team, including Arcee, was sent to investigate. After searching for hours, they stumbled upon [[Al-Badur]], a [[Quintesson]] scientist. Arcee immediately readied her weapon, as she and Rodimus had had enough of the Quintessons for several lifetimes, but Primal Prime asked her to lower them. Al-Badur was a somewhat welcome source of information regarding their quest, and before they could leave the planet with him, they were under attack by a horde of [[Sharkticon (G1)|Sharkticons]] sent by Cryotek. Arcee and Rodimus quietly bonded as they battled the Sharkticons; it was just like old times. Slowly but surely, Arcee's demeanor had lightened. After the Sharkticons were defeated, Al-Badur explained their problem. The Divine Light was an ancient Quintesson piece of technology that allowed them to tap directly into the power of [[Primus]], and now Cryotek had it! {{storylink|Disclosure}}

But when they returned to Cybertron, it had changed during their absence into a [[technorganic]] paradise by the [[Great Reformatting]]. Quintessons had seized the opportunity to invade the planet, but Primal Prime assured Arcee and the others that Cryotek was their only concern. Primal Prime, Apelinq, [[Ramulus]] and [[Tigatron]] left them to find Cryotek, leaving Arcee and the others to take their injured to safety before joining the counterattack forces on the ground. Instead, their shuttle took heavy damage and was descending in a ball of fire and smoke. Arcee, grabbing Fractyl's body and what life support she could, abandoned ship with the rest. Disregarding Primal Prime's orders, Arcee suggested they find Cryotek and help the other Wreckers defeat him. Descending into the layers of Cybertron, they met [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]], who joined them on their journey.

Finding the battleground between Cryotek and [[Sentinel Maximus]] (the combined form of Apelinq and Primal Prime, newly merged by Primus), Arcee reluctantly set aside Fractyl and his life support to join the fight. She helped Devcon defeat Cryotek's mutated pet [[Chro]], using her weblines to hold the monster still so the bounty hunter could shoot at it. But Cyclonus and Rodimus had disappeared beneath some rubble, so Arcee, Fractyl (who had been magically repaired by Tigatron expending all of his [[Vok]] powers) and the others went digging for him... and instead found [[Botanica (BM)|Botanica]], [[Nightscream (BM)|Nightscream]]... and Arcee's nephew, [[Rattrap (BW)|Rattrap]]. They avoided each other's glance awkwardly.

They found Rodimus, but he was in rough shape, having fought nearly to the death with Cyclonus. Arcee and the others agreed to follow Al-Badur's instruction in defeating Cryotek, and helped direct the battle between Sentinel Maximus and Cryotek to a chamber deep within Cybertron. Arcee asked Fractyl to keep on Rodimus, who was extremely weak. Their group arrived in the desired chamber, but Arcee had a bad feeling about the place. It seemed familiar. She recognized it too late. It was a Quintesson banishment chamber, and Al-Badur had activated the containment shield within, locking Sentinel Maximus, Cryotek, and himself inside a forcefield bubble that fed into a strongly gravitational portal into nothingness. To Arcee's initial horror, despite her pleas, Rodimus stood up to deal with the situation. She knew that his next action would kill him in his weakened state, but after his assurances, she resigned herself to the outcome. Rodimus and Cheetor, both [[Matrix Templar]]s, used their skills to drain Cryotek of his Primus-stolen powers. As expected, this was too much for Arcee's long-time friend, and though they succeeded in saving Cybertron, Rodimus was dead.

But death isn't an ending, she realized. It was just another change. "And change is what we do." Arcee and Fractyl gathered his body to take it to a secret burial ground that Arcee knew of. She promised that this time, she wouldn't disappear forever. {{storylink|Wreckers: Finale Part II}}

Before the war, Arcee worked in a hazardous materials treatment plant. {{storylink|Transformers: The Ultimate Guide}} She became a member of [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]]'s underground rebellion team headquartered in the [[Wastelands]] during the reign of [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]]. She was regarded as one of the team's odd ones along with [[Gnaw]], though neither were unappreciated. Both [[Springer (G1)|Springer]] and Hot Rod quickly fell in love with her. {{storylink|Passive Aggression}} What no one knew, however, was that Arcee was a sleeper agent of the [[Quintesson]]s and a member of [[Female Autobots|their elite warriors]]. Her task was to keep an eye on the proceedings of the war, particularly Autobot activity, and both the location of the [[Matrix of Leadership]] and any Transformers with an affinity for the object. {{storylink|The Route of All Evil}} As such, Arcee was delighted when [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] was brought to the rebels' base, much to Hot Rod's misguided annoyance. {{storylink|Passive Aggression}} Since the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] were making a mess in [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]] at the time, Shockwave unleashed the [[Guardian robot|Omega Sentinels]] on the polity, forcing the rebels to make their final stance against him immediately. Arcee ended up teamed-up with [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]] and [[Kup (G1)|Kup]]—a situation that bugged Hot Rod because he couldn't keep an eye on her. Halfway the battle, Arcee witnessed [[Shockwave's Tower]] shooting a beam of sorts to an [[Unicron|unknown destination]]. {{storylink|Countdown to Extinction (issue)|Countdown to Extinction}} Shortly after, she also witnessed the Decepticon hijack of [[Sky Lynx (G1)|Sky Lynx]], but even with these setbacks the Autobots won and reclaimed Iacon. {{storylink|Revelation (War and Peace)|Revelation}}

The Autobots set up a new [[Autobase]] in Iacon, where Springer and Hot Rod made use of the relative peace time to win Arcee's affection. Hot Rod had a date of sorts with Arcee to help prepare and watch the shuttle that would send a group of Autobots to [[Earth]] take off, but only after he'd be done training. Springer jumped onto the opportunity and offered to go with Arcee while Hot Rod was busy. She accepted, much to Hot Rod's annoyance. At Landing Platform A, after they were done loading baggage, Arcee was lost in thoughts, of which a few she shared with Springer when he asked what was on her mind: she wasn't sure of her purpose in life and if she belonged on Cybertron. Springer assured her she belonged with her friends.

Over at [[Quintessa]], Arcee's masters observed the proceedings on Cybertron with glee, noting that not only had they found another Transformer with an affinity for the Matrix in Hot Rod, but that their own agent Arcee would work perfectly as a key to break his will. {{storylink|Lost and Found (issue)|Lost and Found}} The Quintessons' plans would even be able to be executed well ahead of time by the Autobots' next move. Arcee was selected to leave with Kup, Springer, and the Dinobots to set up a new moonbase, while Hot Rod was selected for guard duty at Autobase with only Gnaw and [[Wheelie (G1)|Wheelie]] to assist him. Arcee's report on this situation got the Quintessons to send in her colleagues for both Hot Rod and the Matrix. {{storylink|The Route of All Evil}}

In order to oversee the decommissioning of all Cybertronian technology on Earth, Arcee was sent to the planet alongside [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]], [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] and [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]], the last of which whom she had a mutual attraction to. Shortly after the group arrived at [[Area 52 (G1)|Area 52]], the facility came under attack by [[Cobra]], and Arcee helped fight them off alongside [[Scarlett]], who was surprised over the existence of "girl robots". {{storylink|The Art of War issue 1|The Art of War #1}} Upon hearing about a security breach in the lower levels of Area 52, the group headed there and, to Arcee's horror, found Bumblebee injured and low on energy. Before much could be done about him, the group was attacked by [[Serpentor|Serpent O.R.]], who took control of [[G.I. Joe battle mech|G.I. The Autobots and Joes survived, and quickly followed Serpent O.R. through a warpgate to Cybertron, where they were attacked by [[cannibalizer]]s. Arcee didn't think they were very threatening, but suggested that they retreat to protect the humans. "Serpentor Prime" effortlessly defeated most of the Autobots and Joes, but Arcee dodged his tentacles and managed to rip his chestplate off, allowing [[Hawk (G.I. Over six million years ago, Arcee was an early test subject of the mad genius [[Jhiaxus (G2)|Jhiaxus]], after he decided to introduce gender into the Transformers just to see the results. Her fundamental [[CNA]] was altered, something that she loathes, giving her a "maddening maelstrom of contradictory sensory input" and causing all other Transformers to sense a fundamental difference about her and inadvertently use feminine pronouns around her. Arcee failed to live up to Jhiaxus's standards and was abandoned, but, driven by an implacable homing instinct towards her creator's experiments, she cut a mech-fluid swath of carnage across several planets in her obsession with destroying everything Jhiaxus created. She was eventually taken down by [[Tyrest Accord]] enforcer [[Ultra Magnus (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Ultra Magnus]] and incarcerated on the Autobot penitentiary on [[Garrus-9]]. As was policy for threats of her level, Arcee's [[spark]] was separated from her body, and in this limbo, she found a kind of peace.

That peace was shattered when the [[Decepticon Secret Service]], led by [[Banzai-Tron (G1)|Banzaitron]] attacked Garrus-9 to liberate the recently incarcerated [[Pretender Monster|Monstructor Six]], more of Jhiaxus's experiments. When the [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticons]] infiltrated the facility, warden [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]] freed Arcee as a last resort to stop them. She presented quite the frightening obstacle for the invaders, severely wounding [[Blast Off (G1)|Blast Off]] and [[Brawl (G1)|Brawl]], but in the end they managed to escape with their target. [[Jetfire (G1)|Jetfire]] convinced Maximus to allow her to pursue them, {{storylink|Spotlight: Arcee}} and she followed their trail to the Decepticon Battle Platform [[Zuska]], where she tortured a Decepticon for information on the escapees' location. {{storylink|Spotlight: Cyclonus}}

Using this intel to locate Banzaitron, Arcee found that the Transformers from the [[Dead Universe]]—Jhiaxus among them—had activated Monstructor and spirited him away, decimating the Banzaitron's team in the process. Arcee agreed to help Banzaitron in recovering Monstructor, on the basis that it would lead her to Jhiaxus. {{storylink|Spotlight: Hardhead}} Tracking Monstructor to [[Rotan]], she and the Decepticons engaged him in battle until [[Skram (G2)|Skram]] arrived with information on Jhiaxus's location. Abandoning the fight, Arcee headed for [[Gorlam Prime]], where she murdered her way through a legion of [[Micromaster]]s before finally cornering him beneath the planet's surface. There, she was surprised and delighted to find that, as he came from the Dead Universe, and they were in a location close to its influence, Jhiaxus could not die. And that meant she could kill him over, and over, and over... {{storylink|Spotlight: Sideswipe}}

Arcee did just that for six years, and would later profess that the experience helped her straighten her head out. {{storylink|A Better Tomorrow}} This demented "therapy" came to an end when Gorlam Prime's portal to the Dead Universe reactivated, hypnotically drawing all life on the planet into it. Arcee also felt its lure but [[Hardhead (G1)|Hardhead]] held her back until the effect faded, and the two Autobots decided to investigate. {{storylink|Heart of Darkness issue 2|Heart of Darkness #2}} A while later, they detected [[Galvatron (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Galvatron]], [[Cyclonus (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Cyclonus]], [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] and Jhiaxus in the vicinity and attacked them. {{storylink|Heart of Darkness issue 1|Heart of Darkness #1}} Discovering that her arch-enemy had been restored by Galvatron's [[Darkness (G1)|Heart of Darkness]], she vowed to destroy Jhiaxus all over again, but those plans had to be tabled when Galvatron powered himself up by tapping into the Dead Universe via the portal. Convinced by Hardhead to flee and warn the Autobots of Galvatron's return, Arcee was blasted into a chasm by her pursuers, but managed to survive. {{storylink|Heart of Darkness issue 2|Heart of Darkness #2}}

Some time later, as Galvatron was in the process of assembling an army and preparing to enact his grand plan, Arcee and Hardhead came to the rescue of an Autobot escape pod full of survivors from the [[Kimia Facility]]. {{storylink|Chaos Part Three: Kings|Kings}} Bringing the survivors aboard, she and Hardhead had to explain at least five times to them all about the Dead Universe, the Heart of Darkness, [[D-Void]], and Galvatron's plans. The rag-tag group made it to Cybertron, by which time Galvatron infected [[Vector Sigma]] with the Heart of Darkness, which caused a maelstrom to break out on the planet's surface. Arcee suggested guiding the ship through an underground tunnel, crashing right on top of Galvatron himself, but this failed to take the super-powered villain out, and he quickly engaged and defeated Arcee and Hardhead. {{storylink|Chaos Part Four: Genesis|Genesis}}

[[Optimus Prime (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Optimus Prime]] subsequently used the Matrix to purify Vector Sigma, but in the process reverted Cybertron to a primordial state. In this tumultuous new era, Arcee fell into the employ of [[Prowl (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Prowl]], acting as his shadowy enforcer in an era of uneasy peace. {{storylink|The Autonomy Lesson (issue)|The Autonomy Lesson}} She inaugurated her new role by assassinating [[Ratbat (G1)|Ratbat]] before the former senator could have [[Bumblebee (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Bumblebee]] killed, but her vicious methods sat ill with Prowl. {{storylink|The World & Everything in It}} Later, Arcee watched with amusement from a high vantage point as a set of rockets [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] had fired into orbit successfully drew away dangerous energies that would have caused an explosion on the planet's surface. {{storylink|Stick Together}}

Prowl soon called upon Arcee again to aid him in dealing with Decepticon malcontents, this time confronting [[Bombshell (G1)|Bombshell]] and his [[cerebro-shell]]-controlled minions. After Arcee killed the mind-controlled [[Sunstorm (G1)|Sunstorm]] against Prowl's wishes, the pair pursued Bombshell into underground tunnels, but ran into the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicons]], whom Arcee took on solo, saving an unknowing [[Blurr (G1)|Blurr]] in the process. Prowl, meanwhile, went after Bombshell, but succumbed to his newly improved method of mind control. Under Bombshell's sway, Prowl returned to Arcee's side and "destroyed" Constructicons by detonating their [[Inhibitor/deterrence chip|I/D chips]], then sent her after [[Dirge (G1)|Dirge]], who had witnessed the whole thing. Evidently suspecting that something was amiss with Prowl, she secretly allowed Dirge to escape. {{storylink|Devisive}} Deducing what had happened to Prowl, she met with him later, informing him she "knew his secret" and cautioning him to remember that she was not his killer to order around, {{storylink|A Better Tomorrow}} but continued to work towards whatever objectives Bombshell was manipulating Prowl for, allowing the Insecticon to think she was on his side so she could discover what he was up to and stop him. {{storylink|Plan for Everything}}

Arcee later secretly joined "Prowl" and the other Autobot security officers in tracking Dirge to the Decepticons' bolt-hole, but once again, she stood back and allowed him and [[Swindle (G1)|Swindle]] to escape during the ensuing firefight. {{storylink|A Better Tomorrow}} She would later be seen prowling the rooftops of the city, watching [[Reflector (G1)|Reflector]] and [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]] through the sight of her weapon and graciously deciding not to snipe them. {{storylink|Night and the City}}

When the time came for the Decepticons to put the final stage of their plan into action, Bombshell directed Arcee, through Prowl, to exfiltrate [[Shockwave (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Shockwave]], [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]] and their men from their present living quarters in the Decepticon pen. She chose to do so in the most violent way possible, of course, first attacking and killing the pen guards [[Triggerhappy]] and [[Blot (G1)|Blot]] and then detonating a shrapnel bomb that disabled all the other Decepticons present. Before departing with their unconscious bodies, she planted another explosive which Prowl then deliberately tripped while leading a "raid" on the pen, making it appear that the Decepticons within had been destroyed by their own booby-trap. Meanwhile, unaware of what had truly transpired, Starscream assumed that all of this had gone down as a result of his blackmailing Prowl with the knowledge he had gained from Dirge, so Arcee decided to drop in and rain on his parade, informing him she knew exactly where he had hidden Dirge, and could take away his "advantage" at any time. {{storylink|The End of the Beginning of the World}}

That, as it turned out, was exactly what she did when riots broke out upon the return of [[Megatron (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Megatron]]. Recovering Dirge from his hideaway and informing him of "Prowl's" involvement with the Decepticons, she took him and [[Swindle (G1)|Swindle]] to [[Maccadam's Old Oil House]], where a standoff with [[Blurr (G1)|Blurr]] ensued. {{storylink|City on Fire}} Convincing him to listen to her by revealing that she was the one who had saved him from the Constructicons, Arcee handed Dirge and Swindle off to him and cut a path through the rioters for him so he could take them and the information to Bumblebee. {{storylink|The Verge}} Arcee proceeded to join Prowl, Bombshell, Megatron and the other Decepticons in the [[Black Room]], relaying a message from [[Turmoil]] and [[Skywarp (G1)|Skywarp]] that they were in position. Following the information she had fed them via Dirge, Bumblebee and his team soon arrived; they were overpowered, and Arcee stabbed [[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]] through the torso, pinning his body to the wall (but avoiding doing any serious damage, cluing him in to her deception). Together, they all watched as the Decepticons' plan was enacted, and a perfected version of [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]] was formed, incorporating Prowl as its mind-controlled head. {{storylink|Before the Dawn}} Calmly waiting until the most dramatic moment possible—when Bumblebee asked her what her place in the plot was—Arcee then promptly stabbed Bombshell through the head, cutting off his control of Devastator and shutting the combiner down. Calling on Sideswipe to open fire, Arcee armed Bumblebee and apologized for not acting sooner, explaining that she had had to wait until she was close enough to Bombshell to act. {{storylink|Plan for Everything}} As the battle began to rage, with Ironhide busy with Prowl and Bumblebee busy with Megatron, Arcee and the Dinobots were put in charge of taking on the rest of the Decepticon army. Following Megatron's defeat, as Starscream took control, Arcee and the other Autobots were cast out into the wilderness.{{storylink|Heavy Is the Head}}

As the Autobots left the city, they were trailed by the Constructicons, who had become fans of Prowl after having combined with him. Arcee wanted to intervene when the Constructicons and the Dinobots came to blows, but Prowl restrained her while Bumblebee's worsening condition stopped the fighting for good. During Bumblebee's restoration, Arcee tried her best to comfort Prowl, who was visibly upset, but Arcee's emotional detachment made it difficult for her to connect. Her failure to empathize with Prowl sent her to Sideswipe next, whose love of violence she thought would give them common ground, but Sideswipe also shooed her away. The Constructicons picked a fight with her next, pointing out her lack of Autobot symbol as a sign that no one wanted her, and Arcee was all too happy to oblige. Their skirmish ended when Ironhide and the Dinobots broke them up, and Ironhide confided in Arcee that he was worried the night would bring madness to their camp as it did to the Aerialbots and Dinobots earlier. Arcee, confident that the madness wouldn't affect her, stayed up all night guarding Bumblebee, and when Bumblebee awoke the next morning in his new body, he found her outside with an Autobot symbol carved into her arm. But suddenly there was a weird glow over the horizon, and the sunrise wasn't for another few hours. Arcee immediately suspected Jhiaxus. {{storylink|Second Exodus}}

Suddenly, an undead [[Metrotitan (body-type)|Titan]], a [[Necrotitan]], burst free from the ground before them. {{storylink|Dark Dawn: Dark Cybertron Chapter 1|Dark Dawn}} Arcee was happy to have a giant target to shoot at, though she wasn't hopeful of their odds of survival. Bumblebee insisted on caution rather than rash action, but before Arcee and the others could act, Soundwave's Decepticons were upon them. {{storylink|Black Metal: Dark Cybertron Chapter 2|Black Metal}} Their battle was interrupted by Starscream arriving overhead and landing on the inert Necrotitan's shoulder. In the calm that followed, Arcee was rebuilt into a new body, and Prowl wondered if she was considering this a fresh start. Unfortunately, [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] and the remaining Decepticons learned of the mission, and intercepted the Autobots on the way through the timeslip.

Crashing in 2003 on [[Zel Samine]], where the quartz originated, Arcee awoke with Kup and Rodimus Prime. Separated from the rest of their team, they sent out an SOS and were met by [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and the present day Autobots. After explaining the situation, Arcee and her allies joined up with Optimus to search for the Zel Quartz before the Decepticons could find it.

After successfully capturing the city, Megaplex used it as his headquarters, where he talked with [[Starscream (MW)|Starscream]] until [[Skywarp (MW)|Skywarp]] arrived, informing the two that [[Thundercracker (MW)|Thundercracker]] has been captured. Outside of the city, the [[Autobot]] resistance fighters [[Electro (G2)|Electro]] and [[Mirage (G1)|Mirage]] waited outside the city for their fellow rebels [[Obsidian (BM)|Obsidian]], [[Octane (G1)|Octane]], [[Sandstorm (G1)|Sandstorm]], and [[Strika (BM)|Strika]], who also had the captured Thundercracker with them. He was saved by the sudden appearance [[Noble]], who by unknown means and for unknown reasons had also found his way to Iacon. The [[combiner]] [[Abominus (SG)|Abominus]] was named after the ancient Iaconian epic poem "Abominus Ex Meticular", a lurid tale of hubris and redemption. {{storylink|Hasbro Transformers Collectors' Club issue 28|Abominus's profile}}

Upon finding [[Cliffjumper (G1)|Cliffjumper]] alive and well, [[Rodimus (SG)|Rodimus]] contacted [[Optimus Prime (SG)|Optimus Prime]] at Iacon and was ordered to bring back the [[Cliffjumper (SG)|lost hero]] immediately. Rodimus did, admitting to a decidedly confused Cliffjumper that he was impressed Optimus Prime was interrupting his hobbies just to welcome him back. Only just inside the [[Great Dome|Iacon main complex]], the duo was greeted by Optimus Prime, who was thrilled to see his good friend alive. Cliffjumper was merely confused, a condition that only worsened as he was led further into the headquarters and found "his" comrades revelling in atrocities that would be more suited for Decepticons. He spoke up against it and was promptly shot down for his audacity. Optimus Prime considered killing him, but for the sake of their old friendship, he instead had Cliffjumper dumped in the [[Rad Zone]] where he could either re-earn his Autobot [[insignia]] or die trying.

However, the Decepticons found Cliffjumper before he even woke up and brought him with them to [[Polyhex]], where Cliffjumper learned he had somehow traveled to a dimension in which the Autobots were evil and the Decepticons good. Hearing of the Autobots plan to build [[Ark (SG)|a ship]] to reach other planets with and subsequently conquer them, Cliffjumper agreed to help [[Megatron (SG)|Megatron]]'s troops destroy the launching platform. The assault was initiated at sundown and started with two of the [[Predacon (SG)|Predacons]] taking out the platform's guards. Next, [[Starscream (SG)|Starscream]], [[Whisper (SG)|Whisper]] and [[Divebomb (SG)|Divebomb]] flew in and bombed the [[energon]] storage tanks near the platform's support beams with [[glass gas]] bombs. The tanks did not explode though, and so it came to a battle between the two armies. When Megatron took a shot from Optimus for Cliffjumper, the latter's indecision who to trust was undone and he finished the job of getting the tanks to explode on his own. With the platform collapsing badly, the Decepticons retreated victorious. {{storylink|Shattered Glass}}

A battle in [[Khon]] didn't end in the Autobots' favor. First and foremost, they lost the [[Arch-Ayr]] fuel depot, which contents they needed repair the'' Ark'', to the Decepticons, but before they did, [[Wheeljack (SG)|Wheeljack]] returned from exile with a small army of [[Dinobot (SG)|Dinobots]]. Dinobots who he couldn't control and either killed one another or fled the battlefield, leaving the brutes' strength an asset up for grabs ''only if'' the Autobots could retrieve them before the Decepticons would. After discussing a few matters with his officers, Optimus Prime sent out his troops to capture as many Dinobots as possible. What they returned with were eight specimina, but also the information that [[Grimlock (SG)|Grimlock]], the strongest Dinobot, had perished during the hunt. Optimus Prime was very much not pleased, but before he could kill anyone, Grimlock showed up in the main complex alive, well and willing to join the Autobot cause if his sovereignty would be acknowledged. Partially with Grimlock's aid, the Autobots repaired the launching platform and prepared the ''Ark'' for launch once more. To prevent a setback like last time, the platform had been reinforced with stone, on which the glass gas had no effect. More so the number of anti-air artillery emplacements and guards had been drastically increased. These details did not go unnoticed by the Decepticons, who gave up on a second attack, instead preparing a [[Nemesis (SG)|ship of their own]] to pursue the ''Ark'' with once it'd be launched. The lack of Decepticon hostilities put the Autobots in Iacon in a good mood, including Optimus Prime. This peace was ruined when [[Jazz (SG)|Jazz]] let it slip that his [[Relatives|brother]] [[Ricochet (SG)|Ricochet]] had captured Megatron and was keeping him hostage in the [[Temple of Knowledge]]. Declaring that only he may kill Megatron, Optimus Prime ran off to the Temple of Knowledge. This development pleased Rodimus, who both longed to be [[Autobot leader]] himself and leave the dead husk of a planet Cybertron had become behind. Quickly finding himself allies among the troops, Rodimus and his followers kicked those loyal to Optimus Prime out of the ''Ark'' and left with it to [[Earth]]. Optimus return to Iacon was marked by fury over both the betrayal and his troops inability to stop it. Despite that Cybertron had entered the [[Plait Expanse]] and no other ship could leave the planet for a year, Optimus ordered preparations to be made for a second launch. {{storylink|Do Over}}

In the days after, [[Mini Spy (SG)|a civilian]] spotted [[Punch (SG)|a Decepticon]] very nearby Iacon. Even more so, that Decepticon had a meeting with two [[Zetar (SG)|treacherous]] [[Skyfall (SG)|Autobots]]. [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]] and his [[Insecticon (WFC)|Insecticon]] minions would eventually take up residence in the Autobot's former capital and used conscripted slave labour to build his newest tower. From here, he carried out his brutal regime. Shockwave came to view the entire city and its subjugated citizens as his personal laboratory, and saw Autobot guerillas as welcome variables to cull the weak and enhance the strong. Although the Wreckers and other scattered pockets of Autobot resistance attacked Decepticon convoys moving in and out of Iacon, they could not retake the city. They were fed information by [[Maccadam]], who had turned his bar into the hub of the Autobot resistance's spy network.

Iacon was eventually invaded by Quintessons, who managed to get as far as the Hall of Records before the invasion was foiled.
