You'd be hard pressed to find a robot more friendly and compassionate than '''Flip Sides''' (フリップサイズ ''Furippu Saizu''). A former teacher, she is well-suited to managing data, military history and coordinating, and has been given the task of managing waves of remote-controlled combat drones. She's well-liked and personable, and a valuable Autobot fighter.

And it's all a lie, even to Flip Sides herself.

She is in actuality a sleeper agent placed into the Autobot ranks thousands of years previous. She has no memory of her former self, which has been carefully buried under her Autobot persona, and will not awaken until the intricate timer mechanism also buried inside her programming triggers. What her Decepticon self is like is entirely unknown, but the thousands of years of data she's collected will undoubtedly be used to devastating effect. ''When'' this happens... nobody knows, possibly even the mysterious Decepticons who programmed her.

Flipsides {{sic}} was the supervisor of an archeological dig on Cybertron roughly nine million years ago. Working out of the long abandoned territory of [[Median]], she coordinated with security advisor [[Strika (BM)|Strika]] and the archeometrist [[Glyph (Universe)|Glyph]], with her assistants [[Lancer]] and [[Greenlight]]. Flipsides's skill as a coordinator was enhanced by her considerabe knowledge of Decepticon activity in the area. Their research unearthed an exciting find—an ancient factory for the production of Cybertronian body designs, one possible birthplace for their very race. The second discovery was possibly even more critical, an urn labelled as the "[[Heart of the Dragon]]". Although couched in flowery language and hieroglyphics, the urn apparently contained the laser-core for a spark of nigh-unlimited personal power. Trouble started to brew when [[Drench (G1)|Drench]] and [[Hydradread]] of the Decepticon thugs known as the [[Stormtrooper (G1)|Stormtrooper]]s came snooping around the dig site. Worried about the Heart falling into the wrong hands, Flipsides reached out to [[Alpha Trion (G1)|Alpha Trion]] and the [[Autobot High Council]] to send the [[Elite Guard]] to their assistance.

The Elite Guard sent out their Strike Team and Special Ops Team to aid Flipsides's team, and they quickly went to work with Strika fortifying the place for an attack. Flipsides and the dig team were relegated to a safehouse while the Elite Guard did their best to keep the Stormtroopers on the outskirts of town. Unfortunately, the group's leader [[Rage (G1)|Rage]] and his engineer, [[Aquablast]], managed to break through the lines and reach the Heart. Not content with the Heart alone, Rage then sought out the dig team to confiscate Glyph's notes on the project for further use. When she refused to turn over her work, Aquablast burned a hole through the archeometrist with his chemical cannon. Flipsides and the others were only saved by the sudden arrival of Lancer, who had been armed and working with the Elite Guard on the front lines. She shot Aquablast and drove off Rage.

Before chasing after him, Lancer tried to shake Flipsides out of her state of shock and told her to activate the auto-turrets. Flipsides seemed to understand, and was making her way towards the controls when Lancer left to check on the situation outside. Nevertheless, the Stormtroopers managed to escape without any further losses, and the auto-turrets never fired a shot. As the Autobots regrouped to figured out what went wrong, Flipsides emerged with a significantly changed attitude. Any horror she had felt over Glyph's death was gone, and she was now cold and nonchalant over the entire matter. She gave a half-hearted explanation about the auto-turrets malfunctioning, and mildly suggested the Elite Guard get going after the Stormtroopers while they still had time.

Indeed, it appeared Flipsides was acting as an informant for the [[Decepticon Warlord]] called [[Deathsaurus (G1)|Deathsaurus]], keeping him apprised of matters at Median and the Stormtroopers. The extent of her betrayal was never clarified, but it raised significant concerns about the condition of the auto-turrets, not to mention how Rage learned of the Heart in the first place. {{storylink|Flames of Yesterday}}

The two have always had friction, especially thanks to Dominus being the accomplished 'bot-of-all-trades he is, leaving the less accomplished brother in his shadow. Not to mention the fact that while Dominus can be stiff and serious, prone to saying things like "pleasure is a distraction from the truth", he is apparently quite the talker, once he gets going.

To maintain his cover with the D.J.D., Dominus developed a specific way of covertly passing information back to his handlers: he would wait until the D.J.D. found themselves in battle with Autobots, and would then shoot an Autobot squarely in the right "eye" of their [[insignia]] with a bullet containing a data chip loaded with his intel. Of course, Dominus could not maintain his cover without participating in the D.J.D.'s brutal activities. During another encounter with the Autobots, Dominus was able to pass information regarding the Decepticon takeover of Garrus-9 through his usual method. Dominus's fear that his deception had been discovered by the D.J.D. was correct. Trapped in his turbofox mode and deprived of his higher faculties, he became nothing more than a feral "Pet" that [[Kaon (G1)|Kaon]] took a liking to. The bullet in Swerve eventually caused a rust infection that, along with a case of extreme self-neglect, ultimately threatened to kill the metallurgist. Upon learning the cause of this injury, First Aid was able to instruct [[Velocity (G1)|Velocity]] in the removal and retrieval of the bullet and Agent 113's message finally reached the Autobots. {{storylink|The One Where They Go to Earth}} Much of the message had been corrupted by rust, so the Autobots could only make out portions of the message. Not wanting his companion harmed, Kaon told the other Decepticons to stand down, allowing the Autobots to escape with the help of Ravage and with the Pet in tow. Desiring to learn the location of the D.J.D.'s ship, [[Hot Rod (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Rodimus]] had [[Chromedome (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Chromedome]] pry into the Pet's memories. At the same time, Rewind and Minimus Ambus discussed the latter's brother, with Minimus explaining that Dominus was a loadbearer like him. Looking up Dominus's alternate mode in the Necrobot's copy of the Grand Cybertronian Taxonomy, Rewind realized the truth at the same time as Chromedome. Speeding to Dominus and Chromedome, Rewind was faced with a choice: Chromedome could restore Dominus, but the stress would snuff out his spark. Otherwise, cutting the connection between the two would kill Dominus. In [[Functionist Universe|an alternate timeline]] where the [[Functionist Council]] had slowly but surely conquered Cybertron, Dominus failed to end widespread discrimination against the disposable class and could only pull strings to get Rewind upgraded from disposable to research assistant. He also removed Rewind's obsolence chip, ensuring he couldn't be "recalled" if the Council turned on memory sticks. Ironically, one of his jobs was to better classify the "animals".

The two acted against the monstrous dictatorship both secretly and verbally, which got Dominus turned into a "[[empurata|flathead]]": his head replaced with a computer screen that was Council property, given no voice and 'talking' with text so he couldn't express himself, and his face showing propaganda pop-ups at random moments.

In an act of supreme cruelty, the Council deleted Dominus's vocabulary so he only knew the simplest of words and "love" was not among them.
