'''James Raiz''' is a Canadian comic book artist. Originally a background artist for [[Dreamwave Productions|Dreamwave]], he moved on to full illustration duties when they acquired the ''Transformers'' license. Before and since Dreamwave folded, he has also provided [[Hasbro]] with packaging art, and currently does covers for [[IDW Publishing|IDW]]'s ''Transformers'' books. His other work includes DC Comics' ''Birds of Prey'' and ''Wonder Woman'', and [[Marvel Comics]]' ''[[Hulk]]''. He also works in the special effects industry as a visual effects artist and matte painter.

Raiz would have done more work for Dreamwave but he gave up ''Armada'' for a planned ''Optimus Prime'' miniseries, which didn't happen, and was then put on the G1 ongoing, which was delayed by ''[[War and Peace]]''. Unable to wait that long for another gig, he left Dreamwave to work for DC's Wildstorm imprint. He came back in 2004 to be offered the next ''[[Transformers: The War Within]]'' but by then it was too obvious that Dreamwave was strapped for cash, so he turned them down (and a very smart decision that was).<ref>{{citesocial|quote=Blame Optimus Prime. A few days later, I was then told that I would no longer be drawing the first arc but rather the second – starting from issue 6. So at that time, I wouldn’t be drawing Transformers for another year! I couldn’t do that. I was getting married, and I needed money. So I emailed my friend Warren Ellis, and he got me a gig at Wildstorm/DC comics doing Tokyo Storm Warning, and I left Dreamwave. I came back for a little bit in 2004, and they wanted me to do the next War Within with Simon Furman, which would have been a blast. But at the time, the company’s financial difficulties were so apparent, I couldn’t risk committing myself to a project that long. Milne's ''Transformers'' work started with an ill-fated run at the end of Dreamwave's tenure, during which he was ghosting for [[Pat Lee|Superstar Patrick "Pat The Transman" Lee]], and unfortunately, not being paid very much (or at all) for his work. After [[Dreamwave Productions|Dreamwave]] folded, Milne was picked up by [[IDW Publishing|IDW]], who presumably pay him a living wage. He penciled a number of live-action movie spin-off books and other miscellaneous titles. In 2012, he became the primary artist on IDW's ''[[The Transformers: More than Meets the Eye|More Than Meets the Eye]]'' series, drawing the bulk of its issues.

Milne's linework is noted for its high levels of detail, from complex backgrounds to precisely delineated mechanical greeblies on the Transformers themselves. Stylistically, Milne has shown the ability to emulate other artists' work, such as his Pat Lee-styled lines on ''[[The Transformers: Megatron Origin|Megatron: Origin]]''. For ''More Than Meets the Eye'', Milne designed many of the series' characters and settings, and by extension, much of its distinctive overall look. His work on the book has garnered high praise among fans, owing to his detailed character designs, complex action scenes, and highly expressive characters.

Aaron's career was somewhat unusual insofar as he started out as a regular designer and eventually climbed up the corporate ladder.

As a designer, he first worked in Hasbro's [[Kenner]] division in [[1995]] after it was purchased by Hasbro a few years prior, working on toylines such as ''[[Batman]]'', ''[[Star Wars (franchise)|Star Wars]]'' and ''[[Jurassic Park]]'', before being moved to ''Transformers'' during the [[Transmetal 2]] phase of ''[[Beast Wars: Transformers (toyline)|Beast Wars]]''. There, he designed toys like the Transmetal 2 incarnations of [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]], [[Iguanus (BW)|Iguanus]], [[Dinobot II|Dinobot]], [[Optimus Minor]], and [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]].

In the year [[2000]], the Kenner division was closed down and its product lines were fully merged into Hasbro. Many of the Kenner staff didn't want to relocate to [[Rhode Island]], including the incumbent head of the ''Transformers'' brand, but Aaron was willing to move and, in his words, said "I raised my hand and said 'I'll take ''Transformers'' if you're looking for someone to manage it'".<ref>"I think it was late 2000—November, October, November—when they told us that they were moving us to Rhode Island from Cincinnati. They offered a lot of people the opportunity to move and not everybody was interested; Cincinnati, I've said many times Kenner was built on Cincinnati folks and they had lived their whole lives there, they really weren't interested in moving. And that's fine, that gave other opportunities to other people—I was one of those people. So when some of the folks said they weren't going to go, I raised my hand and said 'I'll take ''Transformers'' if you're looking for someone to manage that', because at that time it was a- that relationship was a big deal so it had to be someone who knew how to manage partnerships. In early 2002, prior to the official launch of the ''[[Transformers: Armada (franchise)|Armada]]'' line, Aaron signed up to the boards of [http://www.tfw2005.com/ TFW2005] (then merged with the late Transfandom.net, later Transfandom.com) under the alias "Orson". After refuting a fan's pompous claims about the alleged properties of some of the ''[[Transformers: Armada (toyline)|Armada]]'' toys, the staff verified his identity as a Hasbro designer and created a special sub-forum for him, named "Orson's World". There, he would answer fan questions, but often only giving very vague hints or rejecting a carefully phrased, multi-point question with a blunt "NO." When the 2005 Boards split from Transfandom, "Orson's World" was migrated to the new TFW2005 site with Aaron's approval. As for whether the higher-ups at Hasbro themselves were fine with the posts, Archer simply said that he had "enough approval" from them.<ref>{{citesocial|quote=I have enough approval to be here, I am not a rouge employee telling secrets. Aaron's stint as "Orson" eventually came to a sudden halt in September 2003, when he was asked by his superiors to refrain from any further posts at TFW2005 and have his "Orson" account as well as his entire posting history deleted. Along with [[Bill Forster]], he restored and did layouts of character designs in the [[The Ark series|''Ark'' books]]. He also wrote the copy and compiled the material from fans and professionals like [[Andrew Hall]] (aka Hydra) and [[Bob Budiansky]]. In the course of compiling this material, he came across several original series notes, some of which (nicknames and extended biographies) he has made available to online forums. Prior to making the leap to pro, he had been a longtime fan, contributing to alt.toys.transformers as early as [[1994]].
