==Synopsis==

At an underground cavern near a waterfall, the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicons]] are digging with a massive drill. However, the rock they're drilling through breaks, and only some quick work on [[Mixmaster (G1)|Mixmaster]]'s part plugs it up. [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]] orders Mixmaster to look over [[Scavenger (G1)|Scavenger]]'s sensory equipment, while [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream]] does his daily whine-about-Megatron's-nefarious-plan bit. Megatron counters that if they manage to tap into the [[Earth's core|Earth's molten core]], it will give the [[Decepticon]]s geothermal energy, a limitless power source. Starscream counters that if they breach the core, the Earth runs the risk of exploding. However, Megatron doesn't care: he's placed a [[space bridge]] near the drilling site, which will take the Decepticons to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] if the Earth's stability should be threatened.

Meanwhile, [[Jazz (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Jazz]], [[Prowl (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Prowl]], [[Gears (G1)|Gears]], [[Mirage (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Mirage]], and [[Sunstreaker (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Sunstreaker]] are driving around in that general area, when Sunstreaker realizes that there should be a river where they're driving through. The Autobots head to investigate, and see Mixmaster and Scavenger. The Autobots [[Transformation|transform]] to attack, only to see that the Constructicons have disappeared, and to fail to notice [[Laserbeak (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Laserbeak]] above them. Informed by [[Soundwave (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Soundwave]], Megatron orders the Constructicons to destroy the Autobots and form [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]]. The Decepticon [[combiner]] knocks the Autobots off the cliff, but Mirage goes invisible on them. He remains undetected as Devastator attacks the others, and finds the drill. As Mirage rejoins the group, Jazz does a [[sound and light show]] which distracts Devastator while Mirage and Sunstreaker lasso his legs with a rope, allowing the Autobots to escape.

At the [[Ark (G1)|Autobot base]], the Autobots use [[Teletraan I]] to calculate what will happen if the drill hits the Earth's core. The result will be total annihilation, but the Autobots have little hope of defeating the Decepticons with Devastator. [[Wheeljack (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Wheeljack]] and [[Chip Chase]] present [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] with their new [[dominator disk]]s, which will be placed on the individual Constructicons and take control of them when they form Devastator. Convinced, Optimus Prime orders a commando team to plant the disks on the Constructicons. Heading for the drilling site, [[Ironhide (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Ironhide]] freezes the falls, causing the drill to heat up. [[Scrapper (G1)|Scrapper]] orders the Constructicons to the surface, during which the Autobots plant a disk on each Constructicon. As the commandos are pulled out, Starscream has them dead to rights, but Megatron orders him to let them go, saying that he knows of their plan to control Devastator. As Megatron positions the Decepticons, he orders the Decepticons to attack. The Decepticons fire on the still moving Autobots, who break formation, as the [[Seeker (body-type)|Seekers]] transform to [[bring the rain]] on the Autobots. Megatron orders the Constructicons to form Devastator, who grabs Prime. Wheeljack activates the disks and Optimus orders Devastator to release him and attack the Decepticons. Devastator follows the Autobot leader's orders. Megatron orders the Decepticons to retreat to the cave and Devastator seals them in. Optimus orders the Autobots to break off, as they can now finish the Decepticons at their leisure.

Within the caverns, Starscream whines about being trapped, not having enough water to keep drilling, and so on. However, Megatron reveals that this was all part of his plan: he has a device that will override the dominator disks and stored enough water to continue drilling for some time. He just didn't tell Starscream because he's a terrible actor. At the Autobot base, the Constructicons are helping with repairs, when an earthquake hits. Realizing that the Decepticons are still drilling, the Autobots head to put them out of commission. However, Megatron is aware of their coming, watching them through the Constructicons' eyes. The Autobots and Devastator head for the cave, and Devastator is set to destroy it, at which point Megatron uses his control switch to deactivate the disks. Devastator begins attacking the Autobots, so Wheeljack tries to boost power to the disks. Unfortunately, this fries Devastator's [[Circuit (circuit)|logic circuits]] and sends him into a killing frenzy, attacking both Autobot and Decepticon alike.

Finally, the drill hits the core and the cave—and the earth itself—begin to come apart. Unfortunately, Devastator's rampage has damaged the drill's controls. Megatron orders the Decepticons to the space bridge, but Devastator damages it too. Optimus convinces Megatron to give his control switch to Wheeljack, who uses it to deactivate the disks and bring Devastator back to normal. Devastator then heads to destroy the drill, while the Decepticons flee for their [[Spark|lives]]. Devastator succeeds, but is surprised by Megatron's absence. Chip tells Devastator that he ran, but Devastator believes that "Noble Megatron" merely left to plan their next attack and leaves (he really is as dumb as a post). Chip is somewhat saddened, as he was hoping that Devastator would join the Autobots. Optimus tells him that the future is built on dreams and not to let go of his.

This being one of the Season 2 AKOM episodes, many characters have unusual color schemes which persist through the entire episode. This includes:

*Megatron's gun barrel is dark gray.
*Gears' truck mode is red with blue fenders instead of blue with a red camper top. His white robot bits are colored light gray.
*Prowl is a light gray instead of white.
*Optimus Prime's backpack is white instead of red.
*Chip has a blue jacket instead of brown. This is ''good'', though. It means that, unlike a lot of cartoon humans, he actually changes clothes.
*The circle on Bumblebee's back is dark gray instead of yellow.

Errors not attributable to model sheets include:
*It seems unlikely that the metal ring surrounding the drill would fracture in exactly the same way as the rock surrounding it.
*Hook's first transformation is bizarre. His crane mode cab just kind of disappears into his stomach... only to reappear as his foot a second later.
*Scavenger's voice gives the "emergency!" lines that follow, but Scrapper is shown. It's not clear from the animation who's actually speaking, though.
*[[Michael Bell]]'s performance of Scrapper is noticeably higher-pitched and more manic than usual in this episode. He's cranked Scrapper's usual vocal "scratchiness" up a bit too, at times adding a protracted rasp between sentences.
*When the Constructicons are all shown zapping the fissure shut, all the other cracks are gone.
*Subsequent shots of the drill show no trace of the Constructicons' ad hoc ground repairs. Did they pave them over??
*Missing Seeker insignia:
**When he's first seen sitting at the console, Starscream is missing the Decepticon emblems on his wings.
**Starscream has only one wing emblem as he watches Megatron walk through the holographic rock wall.
**The Seekers are all missing their wing emblems as the Decepticons launch their counterattack on the approaching Autobots in the canyon.
**Starscream's missing his wing emblems yet again as he turns and says "You thought of everything".
**Starscream's got only one emblem as he runs crying to Devastator for help. Seriously, how hard is it to keep track of two emblems?
*It's not indisputably an error, but Starscream's hand makes none of the typical whirring/sliding noises as he retracts it and replaces it with the drill (which, holy cow, where does he ''keep'' that thing?)
*The animation of the Autobots driving up the slope out of the riverbed is crude and mistimed—Mirage drives all the way into the slope before he tilts to start climbing it. The other Autobots all tilt up as a group, even though they're in a line.
*Laserbeak's missing his transformation sound as he returns to Soundwave's chest compartment after sighting the Autobots.
*As Laserbeak plays back the Autobots' words, a second voice seems to be echoing Jazz's "Constructicons!"
*As the Constructions all transform to [[alternate mode|vehicle mode]], both Hook and Mixmaster suffer from their feet failing to become the corresponding part of their vehicle modes. All of the Constructicons have completely changed positions from where they were standing in the preceding shot.
*The boulder that Devastator uses against the Autobots is never seen to hit bottom.
*As usual, Devastator's combination sequence is screwed up. In addition to lacking any transformation noise, Long Haul only forms about half of his actual contribution, with Hook getting the rest. At least they got the other four guys correct!
*Three of the Constructicons are shown monitoring the drill, while at the same time Devastator is outside fighting the rest of the Autobots. *Both Mirage and Sunstreaker drive ''through'' the tow line as they wrap it around Devastator's feet. As Devastator falls from their snare, he has two eyes instead of his usual visor.

**Wheeljack has some strange white areas on his head when he's first seen inside Autobot Headquarters.
**Wheeljack's roof is orange instead of white as Chip leans out his window.
**Skywarp and Starscream both have yellow nosecones as they transform back into [[robot mode]] en route to the space bridge.
**Once the Autobots subjugate Devastator, he's seen swatting Skywarp, but the next shot is of Thundercracker spinning out of control. Then Thundercracker immediately flies back in ''again'' and is swatted off, screaming in Starscream's voice. The shot following that has Skywarp standing with the other Decepticons.
**Megatron has a red Decepticon symbol when he orders the Constructicons to stop the drill.
*The center line on Scrapper's face mask disappears as he orders the Constructicons to the surface.
*The Constructicons' elevator isn't animated, making them appear to just levitate into the air in vehicle mode. A whirring effects noise, and a lack of glow effects, makes it seem that this was ''not'' supposed to be the levitation beam used earlier by Starscream and Megatron. A second later, however, they ''do'' drive off the levitation beam, complete with glow effect.
*There is ''no way'' Ironhide has room for that much of the water-freezing liquid inside him.
*Appearing/disappearing Autobots:
**Ironhide is shown retreating into the cage at the bottom of the cliff, even though he was never shown to have left the top of the cliff. He seems to have taken Sunstreaker's place. As the cage begins to rise, Sunstreaker reappears (with a strangely miscolored or off-model head), but Jazz is missing.
**The roster of Autobots on the return mission to the cave fluctuates all over the place. Prowl, Jazz, Ironhide and Sideswipe are shown leaving Autobot HQ (and Devastator apparently just sits there while the Autobots move out!) When they arrive at the cave, Hound and Wheeljack have replaced Prowl and Ironhide. After Chip is trapped in the cave, Ratchet shows up among Devastator's victims. After the commercial break, Ironhide is back with the group. As the earthquakes begin, Sunstreaker shows up out of nowhere to rescue Chip.
*Five Autobots fit inside Prime's pyramid cage, which then fits inside his trailer. Huge trailer, or tiny Autobots?
*As he ejects Ravage, the inside of Soundwave's chest compartment is bright yellow.
*Devastator's second combination sequence contains the same visual errors as the first one; plus, Hook's mass includes Bonecrusher's scoop.
*As Devastator blasts the Decepticons' cave shut, the frozen falls spontaneously unfreeze for no apparent reason.
*Bumblebee is with the cheering Autobots as Devastator flies out of the canyon, despite not being seen anywhere else in the episode.
*Again, the metal in Autobot Headquarters splits as though it were rock.
*After Hook repairs Jazz, he drives over to Devastator and transforms into ''nothing but his head''.
*When Devastator blasts the cave entrance open again, the falls are once again frozen!
*When the combined doohickeys zap Devastator back under control causing the Constructicons to disengage, the left arm transforms into Scrapper, while the right leg transforms into Bonecrusher.
*Third Devastator sequence: worst one yet! Scrapper's not really visible at all. ''Scavenger'' and Mixmaster form not only the legs but also half of Long Haul's bits (the same incomplete half that Long Haul himself formed the first time around!) Long Haul then ''splits in two'' to become the rest of Devastator's torso, including everything formed by Hook, ''and'' Bonecrusher and Scavenger's vehicle treads. Bonecrusher and ''Hook'' then form the arms. When he's finished forming, Devastator's torso plate is green instead of purple.
*Wheeljack's ears don't flash as he and Prime snicker at Chip's "Mr. Nobility" line.
*Though maintaining a consistent scale has [[Scale|never been a particularly important issue]] in Transformers fiction, this episode is a particularly notable offender, with Devastator's relative size fluctuating wildly: in some scenes Megatron appears to be almost half his height, whilst at other times the Autobots barely come up to the top of his ''foot''. In one scene, vehicle mode Bonecrusher seems to be almost as high as robot mode Megatron. Chip's scaling is also wildly variable: when Sunstreaker rescues him from the cave, he appears knee-high to the Autobots, but in the very next scene he has suddenly become as large as Wheeljack.

===Continuity errors===
*Megatron's assertion that the [[Earth's core]] is the richest source of energy in [[Milky Way|the galaxy]] is not even remotely true, even within the bizarre realm of the cartoon's physics. Heck, just within our own little [[Solar System]], the [[Sun]] is immeasurably more potent.
*Why the heck is Sunstreaker giving orders to a group that includes Prowl and Jazz?
*What kind of tree branch (growing out of a cliff, no less) is strong enough to support a falling Transformer?
*Jazz and Sunstreaker both use wrist-rockets to lower themselves into the canyon. According to the tech specs, that's really supposed to be Wheeljack's schtick.
*How does freezing the waterfall stop the whole river? Wouldn't it make more sense to break the dam that's diverting the river upstream?
*How did the Constructions not notice the Autobots as they were placing the Dominator Disks on them?
*How ''did'' Megatron figure out the Autobots' strategy?
*Is Devastator ''really'' the only one who can stop the drill? Can't anybody just shoot the thing at its source?
*Why do the Constructicons all feel the need to simultaneously transform to robot mode (then have a little out-of-character heroic chat) when ordered to transform to Devastator? This is one of the episodes where they are assumed to need to be in vehicle mode—which they are already in—to combine.
*The whole countdown to the Earth's core, down to the ''second'', is patently ridiculous. The boundary of the Earth's core is not nearly so neatly defined. And penetrating it with such a comparatively tiny drill would be unlikely to shatter the planet.
*While counting down the time before the drill hits the Earth's core, Prime says 10 seconds, then Megatron says 1 second immediately thereafter. Somehow, 9 seconds disappear without any editing or time lapse. A lot more than 1 second elapses before Devastator destroys the drill.
*How did Devastator get all the way from near the earth's surface to near its core so quickly? How did he slow himself at the end to avoid crashing? And how did he withstand the heat down there, when his component parts [[Heavy Metal War|are not even very keen on ordinary lava]]?
**While we're at it, if everyone was so concerned that the drill was going to destroy Earth, then ''why'' would Devastator go ''underneath'' the drill to stop it? If they were cutting it so close, wasn't anybody in the ''least'' bit concerned that Devastator might break into the core on accident?
**Also, Devastator's strategy for stopping the drill shouldn't have worked. It should have impaled him. (Them? It? Ah, whatever.)
*Where did the fleeing Decepticons think they were ''going'', anyway?

*Prime sure goes along with the notion of enslaving one of his enemies pretty readily, huh? What happened to his ol' "Freedom is the Right of All Sentient Beings" schtick?
*The Earth's core is believed to be around 3959 miles below the surface. So like, is the Decepticon's drill four thousand miles long? That means that before they started drilling, if the tip was touching the Earth's surface, the top would be ''in outer space''. How did no one ''notice'' that?
*After all the fuss the others go through while getting into the canyon (wrist rockets, grappling hook slides), Prowl just ''jumps'' down.
*When Mirage rematerialises and shoots his grappling hook, he yells "catch, Hot Shot!" but [[Hot Shot]] is not a G1 character and it is Sunstreaker who catches it. Could this be a 15-year [[easter egg]]?
*Jazz skips his dominator disk onto Scavenger, like skipping a rock on water. Stylish!
*When Megatron orders a retreat, cat mode Ravage flies off into the air alongside his comrades.
*Megatron stops Starscream from sniping the Autobots as Optimus Prime reels them up the cliff, arguing that killing six Autobots would be pointless since he plans on having Devastator destroy all the Autobots at the right moment. When that moment comes, there are still only (give or take) six Autobots to be had. Should have gone with your gut, Starscream.
*A deleted sequence near the end featuring the Constructicons is present in the [[dialogue script]]. It's a little hard to figure out what they would've been doing, but Mixmaster takes the "cackling witch" part of his Bio literally with the dropped line "Boil, boil, toil and trouble...acid eat and rocks go bubble!" - an intentional mangling of the witches' chant from ''Macbeth''.
*This episode is one of a trio, including "[[City of Steel (episode)|City of Steel]]" and "[[The Autobot Run]]", that was animated by the Korean studio [[AKOM]]. They are distinguished by simplistic art, prominent use of the Constructicons, surprisingly high frame rates, some Hanna-Barbara-style animation shortcuts, and various character model oddities, such as Optimus Prime's white backpack (which would show up again in "[[The Rebirth, Part 1|The Rebirth]]") and Chip Chase's blue jacket... not to mention a ''crapload'' of animation errors. Sheesh, AKOM.

At an underground cavern near a waterfall, the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicons]] are digging with a massive drill. However, the rock they're drilling through breaks, and only some quick work on [[Mixmaster (G1)|Mixmaster]]'s part plugs it up. [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]] orders Mixmaster to look over [[Scavenger (G1)|Scavenger]]'s sensory equipment, while [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream]] does his daily whine-about-Megatron's-nefarious-plan bit. Megatron counters that if they manage to tap into the [[Earth's core|Earth's molten core]], it will give the [[Decepticon]]s geothermal energy, a limitless power source. Starscream counters that if they breach the core, the Earth runs the risk of exploding. However, Megatron doesn't care: he's placed a [[space bridge]] near the drilling site, which will take the Decepticons to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] if the Earth's stability should be threatened.

Meanwhile, [[Jazz (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Jazz]], [[Prowl (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Prowl]], [[Gears (G1)|Gears]], [[Mirage (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Mirage]], and [[Sunstreaker (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Sunstreaker]] are driving around in that general area, when Sunstreaker realizes that there should be a river where they're driving through. The Autobots head to investigate, and see Mixmaster and Scavenger. The Autobots [[Transformation|transform]] to attack, only to see that the Constructicons have disappeared, and to fail to notice [[Laserbeak (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Laserbeak]] above them. Informed by [[Soundwave (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Soundwave]], Megatron orders the Constructicons to destroy the Autobots and form [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]]. The Decepticon [[combiner]] knocks the Autobots off the cliff, but Mirage goes invisible on them. He remains undetected as Devastator attacks the others, and finds the drill. As Mirage rejoins the group, Jazz does a [[sound and light show]] which distracts Devastator while Mirage and Sunstreaker lasso his legs with a rope, allowing the Autobots to escape.

At the [[Ark (G1)|Autobot base]], the Autobots use [[Teletraan I]] to calculate what will happen if the drill hits the Earth's core. The result will be total annihilation, but the Autobots have little hope of defeating the Decepticons with Devastator. [[Wheeljack (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Wheeljack]] and [[Chip Chase]] present [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] with their new [[dominator disk]]s, which will be placed on the individual Constructicons and take control of them when they form Devastator. Convinced, Optimus Prime orders a commando team to plant the disks on the Constructicons. Heading for the drilling site, [[Ironhide (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Ironhide]] freezes the falls, causing the drill to heat up. [[Scrapper (G1)|Scrapper]] orders the Constructicons to the surface, during which the Autobots plant a disk on each Constructicon. As the commandos are pulled out, Starscream has them dead to rights, but Megatron orders him to let them go, saying that he knows of their plan to control Devastator. As Megatron positions the Decepticons, he orders the Decepticons to attack. The Decepticons fire on the still moving Autobots, who break formation, as the [[Seeker (body-type)|Seekers]] transform to [[bring the rain]] on the Autobots. Megatron orders the Constructicons to form Devastator, who grabs Prime. Wheeljack activates the disks and Optimus orders Devastator to release him and attack the Decepticons. Devastator follows the Autobot leader's orders. Megatron orders the Decepticons to retreat to the cave and Devastator seals them in. Optimus orders the Autobots to break off, as they can now finish the Decepticons at their leisure.

Within the caverns, Starscream whines about being trapped, not having enough water to keep drilling, and so on. However, Megatron reveals that this was all part of his plan: he has a device that will override the dominator disks and stored enough water to continue drilling for some time. He just didn't tell Starscream because he's a terrible actor. At the Autobot base, the Constructicons are helping with repairs, when an earthquake hits. Realizing that the Decepticons are still drilling, the Autobots head to put them out of commission. However, Megatron is aware of their coming, watching them through the Constructicons' eyes. The Autobots and Devastator head for the cave, and Devastator is set to destroy it, at which point Megatron uses his control switch to deactivate the disks. Devastator begins attacking the Autobots, so Wheeljack tries to boost power to the disks. Unfortunately, this fries Devastator's [[Circuit (circuit)|logic circuits]] and sends him into a killing frenzy, attacking both Autobot and Decepticon alike.

Finally, the drill hits the core and the cave—and the earth itself—begin to come apart. Unfortunately, Devastator's rampage has damaged the drill's controls. Megatron orders the Decepticons to the space bridge, but Devastator damages it too. Optimus convinces Megatron to give his control switch to Wheeljack, who uses it to deactivate the disks and bring Devastator back to normal. Devastator then heads to destroy the drill, while the Decepticons flee for their [[Spark|lives]]. Devastator succeeds, but is surprised by Megatron's absence. Chip tells Devastator that he ran, but Devastator believes that "Noble Megatron" merely left to plan their next attack and leaves (he really is as dumb as a post). Chip is somewhat saddened, as he was hoping that Devastator would join the Autobots. Optimus tells him that the future is built on dreams and not to let go of his.

*Gears' truck mode is red with blue fenders instead of blue with a red camper top. His white robot bits are colored light gray.
*Prowl is a light gray instead of white.
*Optimus Prime's backpack is white instead of red.
*Chip has a blue jacket instead of brown. This is ''good'', though. It means that, unlike a lot of cartoon humans, he actually changes clothes.
*The circle on Bumblebee's back is dark gray instead of yellow.

Errors not attributable to model sheets include:
*It seems unlikely that the metal ring surrounding the drill would fracture in exactly the same way as the rock surrounding it.
*Hook's first transformation is bizarre. His crane mode cab just kind of disappears into his stomach... only to reappear as his foot a second later.
*Scavenger's voice gives the "emergency!" lines that follow, but Scrapper is shown. It's not clear from the animation who's actually speaking, though.
*[[Michael Bell]]'s performance of Scrapper is noticeably higher-pitched and more manic than usual in this episode. He's cranked Scrapper's usual vocal "scratchiness" up a bit too, at times adding a protracted rasp between sentences.
*When the Constructicons are all shown zapping the fissure shut, all the other cracks are gone.
*Subsequent shots of the drill show no trace of the Constructicons' ad hoc ground repairs. Did they pave them over??
*Missing Seeker insignia:
**When he's first seen sitting at the console, Starscream is missing the Decepticon emblems on his wings.
**Starscream has only one wing emblem as he watches Megatron walk through the holographic rock wall.
**The Seekers are all missing their wing emblems as the Decepticons launch their counterattack on the approaching Autobots in the canyon.

*It's not indisputably an error, but Starscream's hand makes none of the typical whirring/sliding noises as he retracts it and replaces it with the drill (which, holy cow, where does he ''keep'' that thing?)
*The animation of the Autobots driving up the slope out of the riverbed is crude and mistimed—Mirage drives all the way into the slope before he tilts to start climbing it. The other Autobots all tilt up as a group, even though they're in a line.
*Laserbeak's missing his transformation sound as he returns to Soundwave's chest compartment after sighting the Autobots.
*As Laserbeak plays back the Autobots' words, a second voice seems to be echoing Jazz's "Constructicons!"
*As the Constructions all transform to [[alternate mode|vehicle mode]], both Hook and Mixmaster suffer from their feet failing to become the corresponding part of their vehicle modes. All of the Constructicons have completely changed positions from where they were standing in the preceding shot.
*The boulder that Devastator uses against the Autobots is never seen to hit bottom.
*As usual, Devastator's combination sequence is screwed up. In addition to lacking any transformation noise, Long Haul only forms about half of his actual contribution, with Hook getting the rest. At least they got the other four guys correct!
*Three of the Constructicons are shown monitoring the drill, while at the same time Devastator is outside fighting the rest of the Autobots. *The Constructicons' elevator isn't animated, making them appear to just levitate into the air in vehicle mode. A whirring effects noise, and a lack of glow effects, makes it seem that this was ''not'' supposed to be the levitation beam used earlier by Starscream and Megatron. A second later, however, they ''do'' drive off the levitation beam, complete with glow effect.
*There is ''no way'' Ironhide has room for that much of the water-freezing liquid inside him.
*Appearing/disappearing Autobots:
**Ironhide is shown retreating into the cage at the bottom of the cliff, even though he was never shown to have left the top of the cliff. He seems to have taken Sunstreaker's place. As the cage begins to rise, Sunstreaker reappears (with a strangely miscolored or off-model head), but Jazz is missing.
**The roster of Autobots on the return mission to the cave fluctuates all over the place. Prowl, Jazz, Ironhide and Sideswipe are shown leaving Autobot HQ (and Devastator apparently just sits there while the Autobots move out!) When they arrive at the cave, Hound and Wheeljack have replaced Prowl and Ironhide. After Chip is trapped in the cave, Ratchet shows up among Devastator's victims. After the commercial break, Ironhide is back with the group. As the earthquakes begin, Sunstreaker shows up out of nowhere to rescue Chip.
*Five Autobots fit inside Prime's pyramid cage, which then fits inside his trailer. Huge trailer, or tiny Autobots?
*As he ejects Ravage, the inside of Soundwave's chest compartment is bright yellow.
*Devastator's second combination sequence contains the same visual errors as the first one; plus, Hook's mass includes Bonecrusher's scoop.

''Scavenger'' and Mixmaster form not only the legs but also half of Long Haul's bits (the same incomplete half that Long Haul himself formed the first time around!) Long Haul then ''splits in two'' to become the rest of Devastator's torso, including everything formed by Hook, ''and'' Bonecrusher and Scavenger's vehicle treads. Bonecrusher and ''Hook'' then form the arms. When he's finished forming, Devastator's torso plate is green instead of purple.
*Wheeljack's ears don't flash as he and Prime snicker at Chip's "Mr. Nobility" line.
*Though maintaining a consistent scale has [[Scale|never been a particularly important issue]] in Transformers fiction, this episode is a particularly notable offender, with Devastator's relative size fluctuating wildly: in some scenes Megatron appears to be almost half his height, whilst at other times the Autobots barely come up to the top of his ''foot''. In one scene, vehicle mode Bonecrusher seems to be almost as high as robot mode Megatron. Chip's scaling is also wildly variable: when Sunstreaker rescues him from the cave, he appears knee-high to the Autobots, but in the very next scene he has suddenly become as large as Wheeljack.

===Continuity errors===
*Megatron's assertion that the [[Earth's core]] is the richest source of energy in [[Milky Way|the galaxy]] is not even remotely true, even within the bizarre realm of the cartoon's physics. Heck, just within our own little [[Solar System]], the [[Sun]] is immeasurably more potent.
*Why the heck is Sunstreaker giving orders to a group that includes Prowl and Jazz?
*What kind of tree branch (growing out of a cliff, no less) is strong enough to support a falling Transformer?
*Jazz and Sunstreaker both use wrist-rockets to lower themselves into the canyon. According to the tech specs, that's really supposed to be Wheeljack's schtick.
*How does freezing the waterfall stop the whole river? Wouldn't it make more sense to break the dam that's diverting the river upstream?
*How did the Constructions not notice the Autobots as they were placing the Dominator Disks on them?
*How ''did'' Megatron figure out the Autobots' strategy?
*Is Devastator ''really'' the only one who can stop the drill? Can't anybody just shoot the thing at its source?
*Why do the Constructicons all feel the need to simultaneously transform to robot mode (then have a little out-of-character heroic chat) when ordered to transform to Devastator? This is one of the episodes where they are assumed to need to be in vehicle mode—which they are already in—to combine.
*The whole countdown to the Earth's core, down to the ''second'', is patently ridiculous. The boundary of the Earth's core is not nearly so neatly defined. And penetrating it with such a comparatively tiny drill would be unlikely to shatter the planet.
*While counting down the time before the drill hits the Earth's core, Prime says 10 seconds, then Megatron says 1 second immediately thereafter. Somehow, 9 seconds disappear without any editing or time lapse. A lot more than 1 second elapses before Devastator destroys the drill.
*How did Devastator get all the way from near the earth's surface to near its core so quickly? How did he slow himself at the end to avoid crashing? And how did he withstand the heat down there, when his component parts [[Heavy Metal War|are not even very keen on ordinary lava]]?
**While we're at it, if everyone was so concerned that the drill was going to destroy Earth, then ''why'' would Devastator go ''underneath'' the drill to stop it? If they were cutting it so close, wasn't anybody in the ''least'' bit concerned that Devastator might break into the core on accident?
**Also, Devastator's strategy for stopping the drill shouldn't have worked. It should have impaled him. (Them? It? Ah, whatever.)

Primarily used for recon and surveillance due to her aerial [[alternate mode]], '''Airazor''' (sometimes formerly '''Wing Saber''') is a great asset to the Maximal cause. She's calm and confident, but also adventurous and brave, with a healthy supply of dry humor. Her aerial skill in either mode, incredibly sharp eyesight and steady aim make her a dangerous opponent.

Due to the circumstances of her "birth", she sees [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] as something of an uncle-figure and [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] as the sibling she never had. She devotes most of her efforts, however, to taming the wild yet gentle [[Tigatron]]. She shares his love for the beautiful planet on which the Maximals are stranded, and it is on this planet where their destiny will be forever intertwined.

Her [[stasis pod]] damaged upon crashing to [[Earth]], Airazor was able to come online due to the genius of [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] and the bravery of [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]]. Rhinox deftly operated the stasis pod's controls and Cheetor offered up his [[locking chip]] to repair it. Immediately out of the pod, she outmaneuvered and destroyed [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]]. Her aerial [[beast mode]], at the time, made her the only Maximal other than [[Optimus Primal (BW)/Beast Wars cartoon continuity|Optimus]] who could fly. {{storylink|The Spark}}

She and Tigatron started to team up more frequently, a prospect Airazor seemed to welcome, but Tigatron preferred to work alone. Their first big adventure together came when a flying island paradise was discovered. The island, however, was covered in booby-traps which were triggered by the use of energy weapons. Airazor rescued Tigatron when he was ambushed by Predacons on the island, but she was damaged badly. {{storylink|The Trigger, Part 1}} Tigatron carried her on his back, refusing to leave her behind, and the pair worked together to avoid and overcome the island's traps. The island was ultimately destroyed, much to the sadness and outrage of Tigatron, and he would have secluded himself from the other Maximals further if not for Airazor's concern. {{storylink|The Trigger, Part 2}}

Soon after, the Predacons beat Tigatron to another stasis pod, reprogramming it and unleashing [[Inferno (BW)|Inferno]]. Airazor and Tigatron took turns helping each other, but once again, Tigatron insisted that he work alone. Airazor commented that sometimes you can be too alone. She was right, because after he tracked down [[Tarantulas (BW)|Tarantulas]] and destroyed the stasis pod, Tigatron got shot up a lot. Nearing death, Tigatron was saved by the arrival of Airazor and Optimus Primal. {{storylink|Spider's Game}}

During a Predacon attack on the ''[[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]'', Airazor saved Optimus from plunging to his doom, but was herself so badly damaged she had to spend several days in the [[CR chamber]]. She emerged to find that the other Maximals had succumbed to their beast instincts through having to stay in beast mode constantly, as a result of the Predacons stealing the ship's [[rectifier coil]]. While Tigatron helped the Maximals, Airazor was able to infiltrate the largely deserted Predacon base and retrieve the rectifier coil. {{storylink|Call of the Wild}}

After the Maximals were expelled from their base by the Predacons, aided by a [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]]-possessed [[Waspinator (BW)|Waspinator]], Airazor alerted Tigatron to the situation. The pair joined in a ploy to retake their base, which involved an assault on the ''[[Darksyde (BW)|Darksyde]]'' under Starscream's leadership. {{storylink|Possession}} Airazor was part of the reinforcements provided when [[Rattrap (BW)|Rattrap]] and [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]] were trying to find a cure for the [[energon discharge virus]] Rhinox was afflicted with. After the realization that the aliens who seeded their planet with traps and energon were returning to destroy it, the Maximals and Predacons entered a truce. Optimus Primal used Airazor to try to sneak Rattrap into the Predacon base to find out what [[Megatron (BW)/Beast Wars cartoon continuity|Megatron]] was up to, but Megatron, of course, found them on his scanners and politely asked them to leave. The aliens arrived and a new [[Bio-Dome|alien structure]] was built, trapping Airazor, who was tortured. Optimus Primal forced his way inside, with the help of the Predacons, and traded himself to the aliens for Airazor. Rattrap dragged her from the structure, only for them to find themselves at gunpoint — the truce was over. The pair were able to use the activation of the structure's "termination sequence" to deal with the Predacons, before fleeing with the escaping Optimus. {{storylink|Other Voices, Part 1}} As one of the planet's moons was revealed as an [[Planet Buster|alien weapon]], the Maximals retreated to their base. There, Airazor and Rattrap caught [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] working on a stasis pod in the ship's hold, and Optimus was able to use it to destroy the Planet Buster, though at the cost of his own life. {{storylink|Other Voices, Part 2}}

They attempted to stop Blackarachnia escaping, but were both knocked offline by Megatron. {{storylink|Aftermath}} After repairs, the duo left together to find the rest of the missing stasis pods scattered across the planet. {{storylink|Coming of the Fuzors (Part 1)}} While on their search, the two Maximals discovered not only a remarkably beautiful valley, but a strange plant. As the two looked into each other's eyes and held hands in quiet celebration, the plant transformed into another [[Vok]] device, and as they clasped hands, declaring their love to exist beyond the throes of death, the two were absorbed and shot into space. Airazor and Tigatron were kept in a form of stasis until near the end of the [[Beast Wars (event)|Beast Wars]], when they were merged into the powerful being [[Tigerhawk]]. Tigerhawk returned to Earth as the emissary of the Vok to stop the deterioration that the Beast Wars were causing to the timestream, his first act being to destroy the [[Darksyde (BW)|Darksyde]], sending the Predacons scrambling. Tarantulas managed to capture Tigerhawk and removed the Vok's influence from his frame (and absorbed it into himself), letting Airazor and Tigatron's [[spark]]s inhabit Tigerhawk's body. Tigatron's voice was dominant, but Tigerhawk's personality and mannerisms were an amalgam of Tigatron and Airazor's. {{storylink|Other Victories}}

Somewhere near the end of the first year of the Beast Wars, before the Planet Buster ignited the planet's energon, Airazor, Rhinox, and Cheetor overheard a battle between [[Fractyl]] and [[Packrat]]. Airazor ended up having to rescue Cheetor, who had darted off ahead of them and gotten blasted. After the battle was resolved, she and the other Maximals fled, pretending to be beaten by the timid Fractyl to increase his standing in Megatron's eyes. {{storylink|Ground Zero}}

After awakening a stranded stasis pod containing [[Ramulus]], opening a second pod triggered an ambush by [[Spittor (BW)|Spittor]], [[Iguanus (BW)|Iguanus]], [[Razorclaw (BW)|Razorclaw]], and a reborn Transmetal 2 [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]]. Airazor immediately saved Tigatron's life, knocking Spittor aside before Tigatron would have unwittingly come in contact with Spittor's body, covered entirely in [[cyber venom]]. The battle ended catastrophically, and Ramulus, Airazor, and Tigatron were forced to carry a critically-wounded Primal Prime back to the ''[[Ark (G1)|Ark]]'' after Tarantulas ripped the [[Matrix of Leadership]] from his chest. As Airazor and Tigatron conferred with the seemingly absent Vok, Airazor experienced great pains due to her battle wounds. In one splinter timeline of [[Primax 496.22 Alpha]], [[Silverbolt (Fuzor)|Silverbolt]]'s stasis pod landed far from the ''Axalon'', and without the aid of Silverbolt, Megatron slaughtered the Maximals. Left as the sole survivors, Tigatron and Airazor were then abducted by the Vok and then dispatched as Tigerhawk to end Megatron's machinations which threatened the Vok. Tigerhawk slew Megatron, but in the ensuing [[timestorm]] destroyed the universe anyway. Subsequently, [[Unicron]] abducted Tigerhawk to become one of his [[Minion of Unicron (Universe)|Minion]] generals. At the tail-end of the Great War, both [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] met their demise on the battlefield. In response, the [[Primal Council]] sought to broker peace negotiations with their enemies, enlisting Tigatron to this end. The 'bot who would one day call herself "Airazor" was one of the many soldiers tasked with guarding the Autobot peace officer as he headed into enemy camps on his mission.

Unfortunately, the first camp the group made contact with was headed by a renegade soldier going by the name "[[Megatron (BW)/Beast Wars cartoon continuity|Megatron]]". Rejecting the talk of peace outright, Megatron unleashed [[Predaking (G1)|Predaking]] onto his visitors, along with the other units under his command. "Airazor" was accosted by [[Waspinator (BW)|two]] [[Terrorsaur (BW)|fliers]], though she quickly defeated them both before rescuing Tigatron from Predaking. As the rest of the Autobots with them were slain, Tigatron argued with his rescuer over which one of them should head off to warn the Council of Megatron's incoming attack. Convincing him that she didn't need rescuing herself, and promising that she'd see him again someday, "Airazor" sent Tigatron on his way. But she stood little chance against Predaking by herself, and soon found herself in the giant's grip. Before Predaking could finish her off, [[transmatter]] started raining down on the battlefield, converting whoever it touched into a protoform. Her name was Wing Saber. A routine reconnaissance mission went awry when Wing Saber was captured by the Predacon torturer, [[Steelgrave]]. Despite his array of fiendish devices and Bond-villain mentality, Wing Saber was able to elude Steelgrave and fight her way through his henchmen before retreating to her cloaked starship, the ''[[Chromia 10]]''. Although she escaped, Wing Saber bore the physical and mental scars from her encounter with Steelgrave for some time.

Later, she was assigned to rendezvous with a pair of Maximals named [[Crossblades (BW)|Crossblades]] and [[Stiletto (BW)|Stiletto]] for a new mission. In violation of the [[Pax Cybertronia]], a group of Predacons had been rampaging through the [[J'kozian sector]] and set up a troop manufacturing factory on the conquered world of [[Nibari]]. Holographically posing as barmaids, the trio inebriated most of Steelgrave's troops into stasis lock before proceeding into the factory. Their infiltration was cut short by a raid on the factory by the native Nibari population, led by [[Ritash]]. Wing Saber's group was forced to divert their mission in order to keep the organics from being completely slaughtered. They were actually doing well...at least, until the true leader of Steelgrave's Predacons made his presence known... '''[[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]'''!

Wing Saber's crew evacuated with all due haste, taking Ritash of the Nibari with them. A reassessment of the situation was clearly called for. After a review of the history records, Wing Saber decided that the frequent quotations of "No Known Weaknesses" overlooked Megatron's infamous arrogance, and THAT was what they needed to exploit. The crew of the ''Chromia 10'' challenged Megatron to combat in full view of his subordinates, forcing him to agree in order to save face. During the ritualized combat, Crossblades noticed that the Mighty Megatron was nowhere near as invulnerable as history records indicated. Sensing a ruse, the Maximals concentrated their firepower and revealed "Megatron" was little more than an exo-suit run by his ex-lieutenant, [[Flamewar (G1)|Flamewar]]. With Flamewar revealed, and the drone troopers brought under the control of Ritash and his rebels, Nibari was well on its way to being freed.{{storylink|The Razor's Edge}}

Later, the Predacons who stole the [[Golden Disk (Voyager)|Golden Disk]] on Cybertron were being pursued by [[Tigatron|Unit 2]], who was granted clearance from the [[Maximal Defense Command Center]] to commandeer transport. Wing Saber was boarding the ''Chromia 10'', when Unit 2 approached and demanded use of it. Wing Saber at first refused, but suggested she was open to... persuasion. The call of adventure captured her interest, and instead of handing over the ''Chromia 10'' to Unit 2, she allowed him to hitch a ride, piloting it herself.

The ''Chromia 10'' intercepted the Predacons' ship, the ''[[Darksyde (BW)|Darksyde]]'', which was engaged in battle with the ''[[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]'' and guarded by a [[Buzzsaw and Laserbeak's ship|mysterious third ship]]. During the ensuing firefight, the ''Chromia 10'' was badly damaged. [[Optimus Primal (BW)|Optimus Primal]] had Wing Saber and Unit 2's [[spark]]s remotely [[Spark core transfer|uploaded]] to [[blank]] [[protoform]]s in the Axalon's cargo hold, which saved their lives, but severely damaged their core mainframes. {{storylink|Dawn of Future's Past}}

Following the [[Quantum surge]], Airazor became a [[Transmetal]]. However, she was separated from the rest of the [[Maximal]]s and was locked outside of their base during [[Quickstrike (BW)|Quickstrike]]'s counterattack. As she flew in, [[Sentinel (BW)|Sentinel]]'s defenses began to fire at her. [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] attempted to shut Sentinel down, only to be stopped by [[Rattrap (BW)|Rattrap]], who warned him that Sentinel was the only thing protecting them from Quickstrike's [[Cobra Corps]] and [[Scorpion Corps]]. Rhinox brushed him aside and shut Sentinel down, anyway. Airazor, who had been shot by Sentinel, swooped in for a crash-landing. Rattrap, feeling somewhat guilty, dove to soften her landing. Not long after this, [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] breached their defenses and took out both Rattrap and Airazor without effort. Rhinox saved her some time and appeared to shoot himself in the head. Feeling her job was done, Blackarachnia left as Quickstrike destroyed their base.

From a small section of the base that had been protected by a forcefield, Airazor aided Rattrap and Rhinox in pulling [[Optimus Primal (BW)|Optimus Primal]]'s [[spark]] from [[unspace|transwarp space]]. As Rhinox brought his spark out from oblivion, Rattrap funneled it through a ray device while Airazor positioned a reflective dish. Primal's spark bounced off the dish and connected with his body (which was being held by [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] at his base, the ''[[Hindenburg]]''), resurrecting him as a Transmetal. Airazor, still injured from before, began to plummet to the ground. Primal rescued her, destroyed Megatron's drone army, and carried her off on his flying surfboard. Airazor next accompanied Rattrap and Optimus in investigating the remains of the ''Axalon''. She was attacked by [[Rampage (BW)|Rampage]], but escaped. Tigatron eventually committed ritual suicide over what he'd done, only to be revived by the energies of the sparks released by the obliterated Rampage. Airazor, sporting a purely Cybertronian form, became a resident of [[Axiom Nexus]] at an unknown point in time and the timelines. She joined the offworlders' [[Freelance Police Legion]] and also forged ties with their parallel organization, the [[Axiom Nexus Security Administration]] run by the planet's native Cybertronians, the [[Transcendent Technomorph]]s. Airazor eventually received authorization as an inspector in the Security Administration, giving her the rare (if not ''unique'') status as an officer for BOTH police forces in Axiom Nexus. Despite her official status, Airazor still enjoyed her vices, and was a frequent customer of the [[Widow's Cafe Cybertronian]] at the edge of the [[Heap]].

Airazor was involved in the first detaining of [[Jackpot (G1)|Jackpot]] and [[Hubcap (G1)|Hubcap]], after the assassination of [[Gutcruncher (G1)|Gutcruncher]] sent Axiom Nexus into chaos. She and [[Stungun (TransTech)|Stungun]] stood guard over the duo while awaiting [[Cheetor (TransTech)|Commander Cheetor]]'s arrival. As is often the case with femmes, she had absolutely no tolerance for Jackpot's sweet-talk. Upon his arrival, Cheetor dismissed Airazor to keep an eye on three "[[Transcendent|units of interest]]" who had recently come through Processing Central. He casually suggested she recruit some Freelancers as well to keep the surveillance less official, since it was technically out of their jurisdiction. Her departure served a double purpose, leaving a viable exit for the lowtech Autobots to flee and draw out the ''real'' assassin for the Security Administration. Once [[Black Shadow (G1)|Black Shadow]] and his shell were deactivated, Airazor swooped in and took Jackpot into custody again immediately. Despite his claims of having found a real connection, she was thrilled when Commander Cheetor expedited his deportation to [[Primax 207.0 Epsilon|a universe]] similar to his home universe. {{storylink|Gone Too Far}}

Shortly after her promotion to Inspector Airazor, the Maximal had occasion to drop in on her old friend [[Crystal Widow]] at the Widow's Cafe. It was hardly a social call, however, as Security Administration had been requisitioned by [[Demolishor (TransTech)|General Demolishor]] of the [[Military Police]] to conduct a serious investigation into some courier murders and the theft of unauthorized TransTech technology. One of Crystal Widow's regulars, [[Escargon]], had been pegged for the matter. Airazor tried to execute a quiet arrest, but General Demolishor's attention span and flair for the dramatic turned it into a decidedly UNquiet raid of the premises. Demolishor also executed Escargon on the spot while Airazor was attempting to gain control of the suspect.

In his zeal, however, General Demolishor hadn't thought to check if Escargon had the stolen property before shooting him. Sure enough, a thorough search by Inspector Airazor appeared to turn up no traces of the property on his person. Dejected, General Demolishor turned his frustrations on the clientele, particular several "mechanoids of interest" called [[G1 GoBots|GoBots]] who had arrived around the same time as Escargon. With some fast legalese, Airazor managed to talk Demolishor out of doing further damage to the bar or Crystal Widow's customers. After the good general departed, Airazor explained the seriousness of the situation — Escargon had stolen a set of [[transit pass]]es, official letters for TransTech black ops work that allowed unmolested access to any transwarp platform facility. Literally a "Get Out of Axiom Nexus Free" Card.

General Demolishor was not so easily deterred, though, and soon wound up battling Crystal Widow and the GoBots in the [[Heap]] until Airazor and Commander Cheetor arrived with the Security Administration. The general was quickly deflated when Cheetor told him he had informed [[Megatron (TransTech)|Commander Megatron]] personally about the issuance of these ''unauthorized'' transit passes, and the fact that Demolishor had lost them. Because the Heap was outside of Security Administration jurisdiction, the collar officially went to Airazor as a representative of the Freelance Police Legion.

As Demolishor was being led away, Commander Cheetor requested a private word with Inspector Airazor. In no uncertain terms, he ''very loudly'' did not say he knew she had swiped the passes while frisking Escargon, and did not tell her to make sure the passes were handed over to the GoBots. Reluctantly, Airazor did as she was not ordered to do and gave up her meal tickets. {{storylink|Withered Hope}}

At work, Rattrap found himself emasculated at every turn, even by Airazor, who was bigger and stronger than he was. Airazor was a native of the planet [[Jungle Planet (colony)|Eukaris]], and was born from the [[hot spot (phenomenon)|hot spot]] inside the [[Titan (group)|Titan]] [[Chela]]. She abandoned [[Cloud Walkers|her tribe]] long ago so that she could be with her love Tigatron.

When battling [[combiner]]s from [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] briefly touched upon the planet, Airazor and Tigatron witnessed [[Optimus Maximus (G1)|Optimus Maximus]] battling against [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]]. {{storylink|Windblade vol. 2 issue 6|Windblade vol. 2 #6}} They later investigated the huge footprints the combiners left behind. Tigatron wanted to report their discovery to the others, while Airazor disagreed. {{storylink|All That Remains}} They eventually sought out the advice of the seer Blackarachnia, who foresaw the reappearance of true Cybertronians on their planet. A week later, Airazor was present when the leaders of Eukaris's tribes convened outside the space bridge, although Dinobot didn't take kindly to the "tribe of two." The tension was quickly defused when Rattrap sneaked through the space bridge and onto the planet, only to receive a less-than-warm welcome from Dinobot.

A month later, Airazor was present when the first real representatives from Cybertron arrived - [[Windblade (G1)|Windblade]] and Starscream. Before negotiations could get underway, Chela awoke and burst from the ground, intending to destroy all Cybertronian intruders. After Chela was killed by Starscream, the citizens of Eukaris agreed to join the nascent [[Council of Worlds]]. Blackarachnia appointed Tigatron and Airazor as delegates to Cybertron, believing that their independence from Eukaris's competing tribes would make them impartial diplomats. {{storylink|Windblade vol. 2 issue 6|Windblade vol. 2 #6}} Upon emigrating to Cybertron, Airazor was amazed to find that she and Tigatron were being welcomed in spite of their romance, a feature she felt could potentially attract more Eukarians. {{storylink|The Chosen One}}

When the Council re-convened to discuss a string of mysterious [[Mnemosurgery|mnemosurgical]] assaults and the growing distrust of the [[Badgeless]], the two Eukarian delegates were in attendance. Things turned sour following the death of [[Drunkatron|an inebriated Decepticon]] which most chalked up to police brutality. Airazor and Obsidian observed an angry mob advancing on Starscream's office, as the two commiserated over their dismay with the fractured Cybertron. Shortly afterwards, Airazor attended the emergency meeting to try and sort out what could be done, a meeting that ended with Ironhide becoming the new head of Cybertronian security. {{storylink|Applicable Skills}} Airazor later attended a meeting where Ironhide reported on the progress of the new recruits. {{storylink|Things We Said We'd Never Do}} When [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]] attacked Iacon, Airazor and the other Council delegates were temporarily evacuated. {{storylink|The Line Between Us}}

The Council later met with Optimus to hear his side of the story. The Council attended an emergency meeting to discuss the threat, and wound up preparing for an all-out war against the army. The Titans soon made planetfall; Airazor and Tigatron fought together on the front lines and used their [[beast mode]]s to tear through enemy armor. {{storylink|Ping}} When it became clear that they couldn't win, the two retreated back to the Council [[Spire]] to discuss a last-ditch moves. As a result, both Airazor and Tigatron joined Windblade's strike team, aiming to invade Carcer and seize control of the Titan from its reluctant leader [[Elita One (G1)|Elita One]]. {{storylink|Desperate Times}}

The Council was informed of the Prime's inevitable return but only after half of them had already voted to keep it secret and forced the other half to do the same, much to Airazor's discomfort. {{storylink|The Chosen One}}

When the crisis had passed, the Council reconvened to meet with Optimus Prime as the Autobot leader discussed sharing Transformer technology with the [[Junkion (species)|Junkion]]s, who had recently arrived on Earth. Airazor was present during Earth's induction ceremony into the [[Council of Worlds]] when [[M.A.S.K.]] and [[G.I. Joe (team)|G.I. Joe]] was brought before the Council where Elita One ordered them executed. When Knock Out supported the notion owing to the looming threat of Liege Maximo and the short [[human]] lifespan, Airazor protested owing to the fact that, regardless of lifespan, the humans were still living creatures. {{storylink|First Strike issue 4|First Strike #4}}

Following the invasion, Windblade was due to retake her position on the Council only to learn that Liege Maximo's freedom was still being kept under wraps prompting her to inform Circuit and Longtooth of it which resulted in public elections. After the Camien had announced her intent to run for office, Airazor visited Windblade in [[Maccadam's Old Oil House]] where she extolled the values of Cybertron's acceptance of 'bots from all walks of life and how that feature could attract more Eukarians (assuming of course Iacon could last five minutes without being half destroyed). She and Tigatron later attended the electoral debates and took part in Windblade's subsequent victory party. {{storylink|The Chosen One}}

When the [[Vehicon (BM)|Vehicon]] threat arose and consumed Nuon, however, Airazor advocated abandoning neutrality and entering the war against the Builders. She frequently clashed with the pacifist [[Santon]], comparing him to a [[wormozoid ]]. When the Council received an audience by First Resistor [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] and [[Preditron]] to hear first hand about the Vehicons, the vote soon swayed in Airazor's favor, and the Maximal Nation went to war.
In the battles to come against the Vehicons and the [[Grand Mal]] fortress, Airazor fought as part of [[Magnaboss (BW)|Magnaboss]], joining with her fellow Councilbots as a battlefield general. Airazor's gender in the [[Hasbro]] line is due to ''Beast Wars'' story editors [[Bob Forward]] and [[Larry DiTillio]]'s insistence. The original Airazor toy wasn't developed with a specific gender in mind, and Bob & Larry wanted a larger female presence in the show, and the Airazor toy seemed as good a choice as any. They requested the change early enough that the toy's packaging bio could have its pronouns changed to female. The later Transmetal version of Airazor was the first American-released Transformer mold created to represent a female character.

In the Japanese dub of ''Beast Wars'', Airazor was made male. The exact reason for this has never been made known; it could have been for the sake of sales (girl characters tend to sell poorly in boys toylines) or [[TakaraTomy|Takara]] could have simply been working from outdated material provided by Hasbro in which Airazor was still regarded as male. We may never know.

Initially, the dub skirted around any possibility of romance between Airazor and Tigatron, altering all flirtatious dialogue to change the intent (Tigatron's line in "[[The Trigger, Part 2]]" about how "the lady shall ride a tiger" was rewritten to a more generic command for them to get moving). To explain the closeness of their relationship, Tigatron was humorously portrayed as a "samurai retainer" and Airazor acted as his "ward"; intimating a "brotherly" sort of bond.

Things remained as such all the way until "[[Other Visits (Part 1)]]" when the scripting and animation could no longer allow for any vagaries regarding their relationship. Beginning rather randomly in that episode, Airazor flirtatiously starts calling Tigatron by the nickname "Ti-chan", leaving Tigatron to get flustered and anxiously call for him to stop. When the pair are attacked, they both express their love for one another in dialogue primarily unchanged from the English version. Their romantic attraction was a very spontaneous change in the Japanese version of the series and Japanese magazine editors, responding to letters from confused young fans, gently explained the situation. Airazor is presented as a stereotypically "girly" ingenue more deeply devoted to Tigatron, as compared to her English cartoon persona and design.

Airazor is portrayed as looking highly feminine and cute, however, it is revealed to the confusion of the cast that "she" is male. The same "joke" is extended onto [[Nightscream (BM)|Nightscream]], who was portrayed as a flamboyant homosexual in the dub of ''[[Beast Machines: Transformers (cartoon)#Japanese release|Beast Machines]]'', and is seen as a cross-dresser in the ''Legends'' manga. With his [[weapons console]] destroyed, Slingshot volunteered to act as a regular jet plane at an air force hangar in the hope of uncovering the plane-nappers. He and [[Skydive (G1 Aerialbot)|Skydive]] got more than they bargained for when they were dismantled by the Decepticon-backed criminals and smuggled across the border. Fortunately, they befriended a young boy named [[Jumal|Hassan]] who identified [[Ali (Sunbow)|Ali]], the ringleader of the plane thieves who was helping the Decepticons rebuild the stolen planes into [[drone jet]]s and had deposed the young ruler of the country, Prince Jumal. Weaponless, Slingshot bravely attacked [[Onslaught (G1)|Onslaught]] and came to Hassan's rescue. With his weapons restored, came to his friends' aid by causing [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]] to trip with his tow cable. Superion defeated the Griffin and the Aerialbots blew Megatron, Bruticus and oil prices away by destroying the oil fields beneath them. Before long, history repeated itself (literally) as Slingshot and the Aerialbots had another time travel adventure involving Alpha Trion, only this time it involved the ancient Autobot himself traveling into the present from the past, back from when he was merely A-3. The Quintessons were experimenting with [[Time Window]] technology when Perceptor and a group of Autobots came across their work. Summoned for reinforcements, Rodimus Prime arrived with Superion and the other Autobots to drive the Quintessons off the asteroid. As the time window was left open, a robot named A-3 materialized on the asteroid. Once, Air Raid led the Decepticon duo of [[Scourge (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Scourge]] and Cyclonus into an asteroid field where Slingshot and his fellow Aerialbots were waiting to spring an ambush. The Aerialbots messed the Decepticons up pretty badly, especially after they transformed into Superion. Eventually, Slingshot and the others chased the Decepticons through a strange warp in space. When they tracked Trypticon to his new staging grounds, Slingshot and the Aerialbots launched from [[Broadside (G1)|Broadside]], but the Decepticon presence in [[Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya|Carbombya]] was more than they had anticipated. Damaged in jet modes, Slingshot the Aerialbots chose instead to merge and form Superion. As Superion, they possessed scramble combining abilities, but so did the Stunticons when they formed Menasor. The Aerialbots were in the midst of reconfiguring their limb formation when Fireflight, being... well, a daydreaming idiot, mixed up whether he was supposed to be the right leg or the left. His indecision gave Menasor time to shoot him down, and [[Wildrider (G1)|Wildrider]] assumed the place of Superion's right leg instead, corrupting his programming. Slingshot and his team formed Superion and battled [[Abominus (G1)|Abominus]] and Devastator. {{storylink|Four Warriors Come out of the Sky}} Later, the combined Aerialbots fought alongside [[Raiden]] and Defensor against the Decepticon combiners, and were nearly crushed when Bruticus collapsed a building on their position. When Hot Rod began his search for the [[Matrix of Leadership]] on Earth, Slingshot and the Aerialbots returned to the humans' planet to assist him. Working on a plan to reverse engineer the gestalt technology the Decepticons used to create Devastator, Optimus Prime and the Autobots staged a daring raid on the Decepticon base of operations, giving [[Bumblebee (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Bumblebee]] enough time to digitally record the Constructicons' electrical transformation pattern for study. {{storylink|Command Performances!}} Working off that blueprint, Wheeljack successfully created Slingshot and the Aerialbots. During the new warriors' testing phase, however, the Autobots were alerted to a Decepticon operation at Hoover Dam. Only the Aerialbots were fast enough to reach the location in time, and so Prime was forced to send them into battle before their programming was completed.

As the Aerialbots arrived and engaged the Decepticons in aerial combat, Slingshot was blindsided by [[Ramjet (G1)|Ramjet]], who literally rammed him out of the skies. He recovered, but only to take another shot from [[Shrapnel (G1)|Shrapnel]]'s electro-blasts, and had to be rescued from a nosedive by [[Silverbolt (G1)|Silverbolt]].

The Aerialbots eventually turned the tide on the Decepticons and drove them off, giving them time to focus on the energy siphon which was the core of the problem. At Silverbolt's command, they merged into Superion and began dismantling the drill device. A problem arose, however, when [[Bombshell (G1)|Bombshell]]'s [[cerebro-shell]] controlled pawn [[Ricky Vasquez]] pointed [[Megatron (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Megatron]] (in his gun mode) at the giant Autobot. Because the majority of the Aerialbots were not programmed specifically to protect human life, Superion only saw a potential threat that needed to be eliminated. As the human fought against the Decepticons' control, Silverbolt too fought inside Superion's gestalt mind to protect the human. In the end, Silverbolt was forced to disengage Superion to keep him from destroying the human. When human scientists discovered a mysterious city beneath the ice of the North Pole, they placed a call to Autobot City in order to get the Transformers' perspective on the discovery. Slingshot, Skydive and Hot Rod were dispatched with the research team to investigate. On their way, the humans' research plane was shot down by a powerful laser, and the Aerialbots were unable to locate the craft in the terrible blizzard. They instead made their way to the on-site research team, only to happily discover that Hot Rod and their human friends had been saved by the [[city-dweller]]s themselves. While the [[Watcher]], leader of the city-dwellers, showed the humans and Autobots around their hidden home, monitor screens alerted the group that the Combaticons had arrived, and were investigating the crash site. The Aerialbots concluded that [[Blast Off (G1)|Blast Off]]'s orbital firepower was responsible for the crash, and flew out to engage the Decepticons in battle. Eventually, however, Autobot and Decepticon alike learned that the city-dweller were the real threat, and joined forces to vanquish the strange but malevolent beings. At some point in Cybertronian history, roughly around the time of the [[Dark Ages]], Slingshot and his Aerialbot comrades became a combiner subgroup, able to merge to form Superion. Because Superion and his fellow super-robots began causing too much sheer devastation during the war, however, the [[Crisis Intervention Accord]]s were signed by the various factions, prohibiting the use of super-robots. Combiner sub-group members could either join different factions separately (like [[Motormaster (G1)|Motormaster]]) or remain together as a neutral, unaligned group (like the [[Protectobot (G1)|Protectobots]]). In some unexplained way, the Aerialbots eventually made their way to modern 20th century Earth, becoming some of the few Transformers fighting on that planet who hadn't arrived via either the ''[[Ark (G1)|Ark]]'' or the ''[[Nemesis (G1)|Nemesis]]''. Slingshot and his comrades fought alongside Optimus Prime and his crew until [[Operation Liberation]] eliminated the Decepticon threat in 1999. Tragically, they and the rest of the Autobots were believed destroyed following the explosion of the [[Ark II]], though in reality the ship was sabotaged by the rogue engineer-turned arms dealer Adam Rook, known as [[Lazarus]], and General [[Robert Hallo]], who planned on reprogramming the Transformers into the service of the United States military. The Aerialbots were some of the few Transformers who were not recovered by Lazarus for his reprogramming venture, now aimed at hiring out the Transformers to the highest bidder. Instead, they lay immobile in the Arctic waters until reactivated as Superion in 2002 by Optimus Prime, using the power of the [[Matrix of Leadership]]. {{storylink|Prime Directive issue 2|Prime Directive #2}}

Slingshot and the Aerialbots in their Superion form, battled the Decepticons in the Northwest Territories of [[Canada]] {{storylink|Prime Directive issue 3|Prime Directive #3}} and again in [[San Francisco]]. Sometimes it's hard to take the '''Terrorcons''' seriously. Even for Decepticons, they've got a bunch of personality problems, not to mention a lack of decency. Individually, they're not much, and it's not very hard to outsmart them. One on one, an Autobot would probably win.

Then you actually meet the Terrorcons as a group, and you pray that [[Primus]] has mercy on you, because the Terrorcons sure as hell won't. They'll kill you for a bunch of reasons: orders, sport, boredom, a dare. They're not what you'd call soldiers, warriors, or even brawlers. They're animals, and they bring that thought pattern to everything they do, including their choice of [[Alternate mode|altmodes]], which are the forms of frightening beasts. They're all positively insane.

The Terrorcons were among the Decepticons fighting the Autobots on [[Earth]]'s [[Moon (moon)|Moon]]. When Megatron was defeated early in the war, he was ousted by [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] and banished to [[Junkion (planet)|Junkion]]. Believing exile to be far too lenient a punishment for his failure, the Terrorcons traveled to the alien planet to finish their former leader off, planning to do the same to Scorponok later on. {{storylink|Wreckage (issue)|Wreckage}} However, they severely underestimated Megatron, who was able to take down four of them with his bare hands even while running dangerously low on energon. Hun-Gar had the upper hand for a while, but was also defeated as soon as Megatron was able to refuel. The Terrorcons went on a mission to [[Mumu-Obscura]] where they were taken prisoner by the [[Deathbringer (IDW)|Deathbringer]] and the [[Reaper]]s. Sixshot came to their rescue, and though he was tempted to join the Reapers after Deathbringer extended an offer, Sixshot refused to pass the final test for membership: kill the Terrorcons. :The Terrorcons are a [[Scramble City (toyline)|Scramble City]]-style combiner team: four simple, small figures who form the limbs of the combined form, sold carded at the $5 price point, and one larger leader who forms the central torso, sold boxed at $12. They can combine with members of any other Scramble City-style combiner team, or join together to form [[Abominus (G1)|Abominus]]. They were sold both individually and as part of a gift set.

:The small toys are fairly simplistic, even for Scramble City limbs. Most of their transformations consist of flipping out the beast torso to form "legs", and flipping back the beast head to reveal the robot head. The robot forms are ''exceedingly'' kibble-laden, with beast arms, legs, heads, tails and wings all hanging off, hoping not to be noticed. They also tend to have rather stunted [[robot mode]] arms. Articulation is limited to a single swivel joint at each shoulder, and knee joints (not very useful due to their fused unifeet.) [[Beast mode]] articulation is much more wide-ranging, with most beast limbs having a swivel joint. They can wield their guns in either mode. Hun-grrr in constrast is surprisingly well-articulated for a toy of the time, especially in his legs, thanks to his transformation engineering.

:The team does not share common plastic colors, but their collective palette is dominated by light gray, yellow, blue, purple and magenta.
