Emirate Xaaron is the leader of the Autobot underground resistance movement and was the chairman of the Council of Autobot Elders. He is not a fighter, but his strength is found in his convictions. Xaaron, though physically unimposing, speaks and acts with incredible confidence that grows from his irreverent brand of wisdom. A few under his command wish he weren't such a "wily old buzzard," since Xaaron's touch is about as subtle as a boulder to the head. It is this heavy-handed approach, however, that makes him extremely valuable to the Autobots as a source of inspiration; some believe he is so important to the cause that most would willingly lay down their lives to save him.

Millions of years ago, when the Autobot/Decepticon war was new, Xaaron belonged to Iacon's Academy of Science and Technology, where he dismissed a proposal from his colleague Flame to reattempt Megatron's scheme to rebuild Cybertron into a mobile battlestation. Flame, who was increasingly mad, was then seemingly destroyed in an explosion near Kalis. Legion of the Lost!

The war continued, and long after, the capital city of Iacon was under heavy assault, prompting the Council of Autobot Elders to contemplate surrender. Emirate Xaaron refused, suggesting to High Councillor Traachon that bureaucratic mismanagement of the Autobot army was the real culprit. He nominated a single warrior to take direct control of the Autobot forces—Optimus Prime! And There Shall Come...a Leader! Crisis of Command!

After Optimus Prime, Megatron, and countless other combatants were lost to Earth, the Decepticon warlord Trannis rose into power. Xaaron created an assault team, the Wreckers, to assassinate Trannis, but when they succeeded, one warlord was merely replaced by another. Cybertron: The Middle Years!

In 1986, Xaaron hatched a new plan for the Wreckers: Operation: Volcano. Using himself as bait, he would lure the several of the best Decepticon warriors into a trap. The Wreckers, under the leadership of Impactor momentarily reconsidered when Ultra Magnus, who was built to aid them in this particular mission, left for Earth to investigate the disappearance of Optimus Prime. Xaaron quickly replaced them with the Autobot Triple Changers, at first sending them to attack Impactor while pretending to be Decepticons. Though this trick aggravated Impactor, the Wreckers commander grudgingly admitted it proved the three were up to the job. The bait was set, but a turn of events forced the Decepticons to abandon it. However, one disobedient Decepticon fired on Xaaron anyway, and when Impactor jumped in front of the blast, the Wreckers commander was destroyed, dying in Xaaron's arms. Springer was chosen to replace him. Target: 2006

A short time later, Springer captured an alleged imposter posing as Optimus Prime. The imposter escaped, and Springer alerted Xaaron. Upon finding the imposter cradling a dying Outback, Xaaron heard enough of his passionate words to realize that this was, indeed, the real Optimus Prime. After four million years, Xaaron welcomed his old friend home. Distant Thunder! Xaaron pleaded for him to stay, but Optimus insisted he was needed more back on Earth. Resurrection!

An explosion which rocked Kalis caught the attention of Xaaron and the other Autobots stationed in a subterranean headquarters near there. This caused Emirate Xaaron to recall Flame's old experiments with Megatron's underground fusion reactors, so he filled in Springer's Wreckers on this presumed closed chapter of history, initiating a search for the source of the problem. Unfortunately, three weeks of probing woke up an army of zombies, led by the reanimated corpse of the former Wreckers leader, Impactor! Xaaron's attempts to appeal to Impactor failed, and worse, Flame subsequently reintroduced himself, very much alive! Flame's mad plans to activate the fusion reactors had continued all this time, and even though Xaaron again noted that this action would destroy all of Cybertron, he had his zombie army put Xaaron and the Wreckers in bound captivity. The cackling Flame left zombie Impactor to guard their prison cell. After Xaaron encouraged Springer, who was having doubts about the success of his leadership, Springer was able to reach what was left of the old Impactor inside his undead husk of a body. Legion of the Lost!

Xaaron and the others were freed from their bondage, and so he snuck into Flame's main staging grounds, hoping to stop him personally. Flame, however, had been expecting Xaaron to arrive, having watched him on the monitors. Since Xaaron hadn't transformed in hundreds of years, meaning the shock to his systems may actually kill him, he was hopelessly outgunned. Flame could transform with ease into his heavily-armed flame-tank mode, and so Xaaron was forced to dive for cover. Just like Xaaron predicted, the fusion reactors warned of an imminent meltdown, but Flame's insanity was too great to be deterred. Flame was momentarily knocked out when Ultra Magnus and the Wreckers arrived, but there was bad news. In order to stop the destruction of Cybertron, they would have to isolate the reactor, but doing so would ultimately destroy the Transformer who would make that final, heroic act. Xaaron suggested he do it, but Ultra Magnus wouldn't have it, as Xaaron was too important to the Autobot resistance movement. No, the deed was done by Impactor, who had regained his wits, despite his zombie state. And with Xaaron's blessing, Impactor sacrificed his life once again for all of Cybertron. Meltdown!

Xaaron inspected the remains of Chameleon following his death. Deadly Games!

When the Micromaster Battle Patrol were captured by Thunderwing's Decepticons, Xaaron ordered Roadhandler's Race Car Patrol to destroy them so that Micromaster technology would not fall into Decepticon hands. When Roadhandler failed to do this, partly because of his own misgivings, he returned to Xaaron to submit himself for execution. Emirate Xaaron refused, saying the folly was his own for putting the demands of war over the lives of individuals. A Small War!

After Bumblebee, Jazz, and Grimlock were restored as Pretenders, their new might helped turn the tide of Xaaron's underground resistance. During their tour of duty, Seawatch was returned to Autobase, catatonic. Xaaron sent the Classic Pretenders to investigate, and they found the Demons, relics of Cybertron's past. Demons! From Seawatch's manic ramblings, Xaaron was clued in to the lore of the Demons and their weakness. Arriving on the battlescene with a weapon, Xaaron overloaded them with pure energon, destroying the creatures. Dawn of Darkness The Classic Pretenders needed to return to Earth, but while Xaaron had opened a transdimensional portal to send them home, the Autobots were suddenly under attack by Bludgeon's Mayhem Attack Squad. As a result, the Mayhem Attack Squad, the Classic Pretenders, and some Autobot Micromasters were thrown into the center of Cybertron. Yesterday's Heroes! Xaaron was able to locate them and send them to their intended destination, but not before the combatants had awoken Primus. The Primal Scream

With Unicron now nearing Cybertron, Xaaron aided Optimus Prime in their search for the Autobot Creation Matrix by sending out teams into a sector of the galaxy where the Matrix (in Optimus Prime's old body) had likely been jettisoned. Matrix Quest But Unicron had his own plans in mind, sending a Galvatron from a possible future to Cybertron to prepare for his arrival. The timelost herald pursued Xaaron specifically, finally cornering him deep below the surface of the planet. Galvatron revealed that he felt betrayed by Unicron and wished to ask Xaaron how to defeat him. Xaaron gasped, recalling an old legend which stated that if the Transformers united as one, Unicron could be defeated. ...All This and Civil War 2 Galvatron brought Xaaron down into the center of Cybertron, where Primus' chamber lay, and had the resistance leader attempt to pray Primus out of his renewed slumber. Xaaron succeeded, Primus awoke, and all of the Transformers on Earth were instantaneously transported to Cybertron. Out of Time!
Primus spoke through Xaaron's body, causing it to glow and float above the startled Transformers, and he told them the history of their race. After the Autobots and Decepticons joined forces long enough to ward off brainwashed Unicron cultists, Primus' avatar nominated Optimus Prime to be their united leader. This union dissipated quickly into chaos and terror once the impossibly huge Unicron arrived. The Void! (US)
Unicron's assault on the planet was halted momentarily when the possessed Xaaron confronted him, but both Xaaron's body and Primus' essence were seemingly destroyed once Unicron realized that this avatar could do him no harm and blasted Xaaron's form to tiny pieces. On the Edge of Extinction!
Later, as Flame was tried by Aequitas for his crimes, Xaaron watched in disgust alongside Prowl, Chief Justice Tyrest, Nightbeat, and others. When Megatron unexpectedly surrendered, Xaaron was called in to advise on the legal aspects of his detention and possible trial. (Ratchet wasn't too happy with the idea of POW rights for Megatron) Xaaron's advice was that Megatron should not be tried by an Autobot military tribunal but by a third party, as the intergalactic community had no time for either faction in the war and would accuse the Autobots of rigging the result. He also offered Wheeljack a job at Kimia, in Ironfist's old lab. Chaos Theory Part 1
Notes
*In the Marvel Comics it is not clear if the character's full name is "Emirate Xaaron" or if "Emirate" is a title. Later continuities would use "Emirate" as a title.
*If the 'Emirate' from Xaaron's name is the Anglicised version of a Cybertronian title, then it is a misnomer. Emirate is not a title, but a word that describes a place. An Emir is the leader of an Emirate. At least, that's how it goes on Earth.
*In Xaaron's first appearance, he addresses Traachon as "High Councillor" of the Council of Autobot Elders. Later, Flame claims Xaaron was the chairman of the "ludicrously pompous" Council of Autobot Elders. Either Xaaron was later promoted and he changed his job description, or everyone on the council has different, important-sounding titles. Or, uh, Flame is just crazy and confused. Because he is, you know. Very crazy, that is.
*Xaaron was one Marvel UK conceit that writer Simon Furman quickly brought over when he began writing for Marvel US. In the translation, however, Xaaron lost all his colors except for the yellow.
*Xaaron is one of two Transformers who have served as a yellow-glowing avatar for Primus. The other is Mini-Con Jolt from Cybertron.
*In Xaaron's very first fictional appearance, his head design was clearly based on the Generation 1 Megatron toy, minus the larger grey helmet and the gun kibble. His chest looks a little Megatrony as well.
Among her friends she is much loved both for her abilities to forge nearly any device they need and for her intelligence and positive supportive personality. If she has any flaw it is a fierce and angry temper that quickly flares up at any sign of injustice.

Many of the arsenal of magnificent weaponry and icons wielded by the other original Transformers are her impressive handiwork, created by an icon of her own, the Forge of Solus Prime, aided by her unique cognitive systems specializing in wide ranging and powerful parallel processing, and manifesting in the holographic lattice known as the Creation Lathe.

She finds joy in creation, which is why she's particularly close friends to Nexus Prime, Micronus Prime and Onyx Prime who revel in similar pursuits. Her closest relationship however is to Megatronus. The two are bound by a close devoted romantic love unique among the Thirteen and spend much of their time online and off rejoicing in each other's presence. (The fact that both have quick fiery tempers surely won't cause issues down the road.)

All female Transformers are patterned from her template and thus are gifted with a similar processing architecture, which is the main differentiation between them and their male counterparts.

Her creations include:
*The Star Saber
*The Requiem Blaster
*The Chimera Stone
*The Infinite Combinatoric
*The Chaos Edge
Near the dawn of time, while the Thirteen were struggling with the threat of Unicron, Megatronus commissioned Solus Prime to create a weapon of incredible destruction to use against the Chaos Bringer. Solus Prime had strong reservations, but after a long period of time managed to create the Requiem Blaster. She gathered the interested members of the Thirteen to witness a test of its powers, and leveled a mountain. She pointed out that power corrupts and worried that the existence of such a weapon could possibly lead to their own downfall. Ultimately, the Thirteen voted seven to six to keep the Requiem Blaster and not destroy it.

It was Solus Prime's sudden murder at the hands of the enraged Megatronus that caused the first major schism in the Thirteen. After Megatronus became The Fallen and was defeated by the remnants of the Thirteen, a tomb was fashioned for Solus Prime out of a meteor and set adrift in the stars, reachable only by a series of space bridges.

Countless years later, Optimus Prime came across Solus Prime's tomb while searching for a mystical artifact. A semi-sentient hologram of Solus Prime appeared and warned Optimus and his Autobots to leave. Solus Prime directed them towards a Space Bridge which would take them to the location of the lost Requiem Blaster.
According to legend, at the beginning of time, Unicron and Primus battled each other for eons, with neither side remaining victorious for long. Till, that is, Primus created the Thirteen. These Thirteen defeated Unicron and cast him into space. One Shall Rise, Part 1
Notes
*Suns are capable of forging any raw element under the right conditions, so it's fitting that Solus Prime can forge anything from raw elements.
*The explanation for the use of the 'she' pronoun for Solus, as detailed in her section of the Covenant, is that Cybertronians do not possess gender, but instead use pronouns as a result of a communication protocol designed to help factilitate dialogue between Cybertronians and the members of races who possess gender, as a means of recognizing and celebrating difference. This does not conflict with the Autobit regarding Arcee being an "exception", as the explanation does not preclude the possibility that a Cybertronian could voluntarily self-identify with a gender, merely that they do not inherently have a gender, female, male, or anything in-between.
As Optimus Prime settles on Earth, the Decepticons prepare to destabilize the planet as the Machination makes its move.

Synopsis
The Machination team, led by Drake, use a sophisticated VR simulator to train on different scenarios on how to destroy a Transformer. This setup turns out to be in the back of a large camper van parked near Lake Michigan, where the humans are monitoring the lake shore for Autobot activity.

At the bottom of said lake, aboard Ark-19, Ratchet is informing the humans that Prowl has decided to send them back to their normal lives. Hunter O'Nion and Jimmy Pink express their desire to stay, while Verity Carlo shrugs it off, saying that this is just one more rejection in her angst-prone life.

At the Decepticon Command Bunker in Oregon, Astrotrain briefs Megatron on the potency and proliferation of Ore-13 on Earth. Megatron marvels that it appears to be naturally occurring on this planet, but has suspicions that its existence isn't completely natural.

As the three humans pack up to leave, Jazz's holomatter avatar stops in to say goodbye. He and Ratchet have both grown fond of their human charges, but it is Sunstreaker and Ironhide who are tasked with ferrying the humans back home. Although Ratchet and the humans blame Prowl, it seems the Autobot lieutenant was acting on Optimus Prime's orders. Prime informs Prowl that they aren't the first Transformers to visit Earth; evidence has been uncovered that both Shockwave and Soundwave have been to the planet... but where are they now?

As Ironhide and Sunstreaker surface from the bottom of Lake Michigan, they are detected by Drake and his team. Other vehicles are deployed by the humans to track the Autobots. Unaware that they are being pursued, Ironhide chides Sunstreaker to drive the speed limit.

In the meantime, Megatron brings his wayward unit to heel and offers to overlook their traitorous actions under Starscream just this once. The Decepticons agree to this reprieve. Megatron then orders Astrotrain to begin Phase Two by activating the facsimiles.

Outside of Lebanon, Missouri, the humans tailing the Autobots make their move. While Ironhide and Sunstreaker are separated in traffic, Drake's team causes a jam, deploys a smokescreen, then temporarily immobilizes Ironhide while moving in on Sunstreaker with a disabling electrical charge.

Ironhide, with Verity and Jimmy aboard, frantically smashes and weaves through the other cars caught in the jam, but the humans deploy a bazooka. By the time Ironhide catches up with Sunstreaker, the yellow Autobot, with Hunter inside, is nothing more than a burning wreck.
Notes
* Among the reports that Prime monitors in the issue's opening pages are:
:* Ultra Magnus, bringing in Swindle.
:* Jetfire (with his battle helmet), reporting on a finding, presumably at the site of Bludgeon's lab.
:* Springer, reporting on an unknown battle.
:* Blades, reporting that a Decepticon infiltration unit is laying low.
* The same cross-story technique is later used in Spotlight: Optimus Prime.
* The Machination have little regard for human life, blowing up cars on the highway to get at the Transformers.
* The VR room in the rear of Drake's van shows no evidence of the windows or external door seen from the outside of the vehicle. If you squint, the VR room, the computer room, and the driver's space can conceivably fit in the van, but one has to wonder where the team sleeps.
* The crossover series New Avengers / Transformers most likely takes place during the last part of this issue, after Megatron reinstates infiltration protocol and while Ironhide and Sunstreaker are driving the humans home (accounting for their absence in that series).
* The "Decepticomments" page has readers' mail answered by Chris Ryall and ads for Transformers: The Animated Movie #2 and Spotlight: Hot Rod.

Errors
* Runabout is sporting a red Decepticon insignia in Sunstreaker's video game.
* Geography in this issue does not quite add up:
** Infiltration #3 places Ark-19 in "Lake Michigan, about ten miles northeast of Chicago", a text box here originates the Machination's field unit in southwest Michigan, and Sunstreaker and Ironhide are shown driving south on an undeveloped stretch of I-94. This means either (a) Sunstreaker and Ironhide traveled forty miles underwater to the Michigan side even though none of the humans live east of the lake, or (b) they came ashore on the Illinois side, greater Chicago looks strangely empty, and the Machination are on the wrong side of the lake.
** Then again, the stretch of I-94 depicted on Drake's street map shows a location in Wisconsin, not Michigan.
** The narration boxes describe the Machination attack as occurring near "Lebanon, MI", which would be in Michigan, yet this is in central Michigan in the wrong direction from Tulsa. Next issue we learn that this is in Missouri (postal abbreviation MO), a far more logical location, but this also means that the Machination pursued Sunstreaker for over 500 miles along several interstate highways before attacking.
* Keeping with the theme of errors in geography, St. Louis, Missouri is spelled "St. Luis" on Machination's digital map of Illinois and surrounding states.
