When Shockwave's Earthbound Decepticons established their new undersea base, Seawing and the Seacons were summoned from Cybertron to work on the base's fortifications, as they were uniquely suited for underwater activity. They got more than they bargained for when the super-Decepticon Galvatron came a'calling. In the battle, Tentakil received a decisive blow to the head before he got any chance at all to strike at his opponent. In the end, even the combined might of Piranacon couldn't beat Galvatron, and the Seacons were left laying unconscious on the sea bed. Enemy Action!

At some point, the Aerialbots shot down Dreadwing over the ocean while he was carrying a vital power source. Optimus Prime and the Autobot Powermasters descended to retrieve it but were ambushed by Tentakil and the Seacons, who had the upper hand in their home environment. Tentakil managed to grab a hold of Getaway and began torturing with electrical shocks, only for the Autobot to turn the tables on him and hurl him away. Tentakil was then take out of the fight when the oblivious Slpadash accidentally back-handed him into unconsciousness. Prime then ordered Hi-Q and the other Nebulans to take the power source and return to the surface, but with that gone the Seacons decided that rather than press their advantage against the Autobots, they couldn't afford to let Hi-Test and Throttle drown and rescued them instead. Dreadwing Down!
After Shockwave was deposed, the new commander Ratbat kept the Seacons on retainer for another mission. The Seacons were commissioned to hunt down a sunken shipwreck in the water around the Decepticon undersea base, a wreck which supposedly contained two Autobot cassettes with valuable information encoded on them. They successfully obtained the treasure chest containing the cassettes and, despite a brief theft by the Autobot Blaster, managed to recapture the prize and return it to their leader. Club Con! Unfortunately for them, this led to a sequence of events whereby the treacherous Starscream acquired the power of the Underbase for himself, by first turning Ratbat's Decepticons against those of the visiting Scorponok, Cold War! and then luring the Autobots into a fight with both Decepticon camps in the Arctic. During this battle, Tentakil managed to sneak up on Perceptor and entangled his unsuspecting victim in his tentacles. The warring factions were forced to unite in order to stop Starscream from seizing ultimate power when they learned the whole set-up had been orchestrated by the treacherous Seeker. The Seacons attacked Starscream in unison in the waters around Manhattan, but were destroyed in a single energy discharge of his newly acquired cosmic power. Dark Star
After the Seacons were revived following their destruction at the hands of Starscream, Tentakil's cruelty and rage began to rise up more frequently. He was still furious at his temporary death, and very nearly left the Seacons altogether. Eventually, though, he chose to remain with the team. Transformers Timelines (toyline)#2008

When Bludgeon detected an apparent traitor in his organization, he assembled Snaptrap, Tentakil, and the Seacons to face the betrayer. Unfortunately, their target was Hun-Grrr, leader of the Terrorcons, and Terrorcons stick together. Literally. As Abominus formed inside the Decepticon armory, Tentakil and the others took aim at the giant's weak points, but were unable to break up the combination robot. The Seacons then switched tactics, forming their own giant warrior, Piranacon. Overbite remained separate from his fellows and, after the initial bout of grappling and melee, lept into the fray in his stormsurge cannon mode, blasting Abominus in the face with a foot-wide blast of corrosive fluid.

The enraged behemoth continued fighting back, knocking Piranacon to the floor. Nautilator slipped free from the combination form and joined Overbite behind Abominus. The smaller warriors were beneath Abominus's notice until they concentrated their firepower on his lower leg, bringing him down. As Overbite and Nautilator reconnected with Piranacon, the latter shifted into weapons mode and further disabled Abominus with a blast from his torpedo cannon. One final swipe from Piranacon's coral blade, and Abominus was finished. Tentakil lingered behind the others as they disassembled and met with Bludgeon, relishing in the kill.

Believing the imminent battle with Megatron's Decepticon forces was compromised, Bludgeon summoned the Seacons to his command centre to prep for the attack. Bludgeon was so enthralled with analyzing the attack pattern of Megatron's incoming ships that he failed to notice the Seacons merge once more. The real traitors, they formed Piranacon and used Tentakil in his mass compression cannon mode to obliterate Bludgeon before alerting Megatron's forces that the area was secure. At Fight's End

As the universe was obliterated, Tentakil was aboard the Talon which was pulled into an alternate universe. The Talon crashed on prehistoric Earth, much to Megatron's displeasure, and both Tentakil and Nautilator were sent outside to secure the area. The pair spotted a herd of buffalo, but before they could open fire, they were both incapacitated by energon radiation. Moments later, the herd trampled them to pieces. Shattered Time
During his time alone on Earth, Megatron retrieved and reanimated the bodies of the Decepticons that had fallen in the Underbase battles, lobotomizing them for good measure so that they would unquestioningly follow orders.
Sky-Byte (also Skybyte) wasn't given the ominous function of "Harbinger of Doom" for nothing. Part ferocious fighter, part freaky metal shark-jet with lasers, Sky-Byte is Megatron's first choice for missions that border on the impossible. He's fast, tough, and bursting at the seams with enough firepower to handle any situation. No matter where you are, if Sky-Byte is on your tail, there's no safe place to hide.

He has an intense rivalry with the Autobot Air Guardian Jetfire, who had once been thought destroyed in battle by Sky-Byte.

Fiction
Cyberverse cartoon
At some point during the Great War, Sky-Byte ignited a supernova that wiped out seven civilizations and countless star systems, but he was thought to have been caught in the same nova and destroyed. In truth, he had survived and found himself pursued by Jetfire, who was intent on finishing the villain once and for all. Their battles throughout space left numerous star systems devoid of life, until by chance both combatants discovered Earth. Detecting the Ark, Sky-Byte attacked the vessel until confronted by Optimus Prime, who claimed Jetfire was long dead. Disbelieving, Sky-Byte made his way to the Nemesis, where he was warmly greeted by Megatron. Despite generously offering the other Decepticons the chance to join in on the dismemberment of Jetfire (even offering Megatron Jetfire's head), the shark was disappointed when Megatron declined due to being focused on recovering the Allspark. Shortly after leaving the Nemesis, Sky-Byte was ambushed by Jetfire and the two knocked each other out.

Sky-Byte recovered to find himself confronted by Starscream, in possession of the Allspark. Accepting the Seeker's offer of help, Sky-Byte gained a suit of spark armor that granted him a drill arm and allowed him to tunnel through the ground. Using this armor, he successfully captured Optimus Prime in an attempt to lure Jetfire out of hiding. Jetfire had meanwhile captured Megatron, and both rivals agreed to meet at a location of the Decepticon leader's choosing. The venue turned out to be an arena, and with both Jetfire and Sky-Byte equipped with spark armor the battle grew intense. Sky-Byte ultimately got the worst of it and would have been terminated had Jetfire not decided getting a wounded Optimus to safety was more important than finishing Sky-Byte. As a battered Sky-Byte pulled himself up, Megatron demanded the location of Starscream and the Allspark at fusion cannon-point. Infinite Vendetta

Sky-Byte led his allies to the Allspark's former resting place only for them to run across the Autobots, led there by Jetfire. Before a fight could break out, an Allspark-infused Starscream arrived and used his cosmic powers to begin extracting the sparks of all present before Optimus Prime used the Matrix of Leadership to disable both Starscream and the Allspark, leading to a mad scramble for the artifact. In the ensuing clash, Sky-Byte and Jetfire fought in the air but the shark was taken out of the fight when Grimlock used him as a makeshift springboard and sent him plummeting down an abyss. I Am The Allspark

When the Autobots tried to take the Allspark off of Earth, they launched five remote controlled shuttlecrafts towards the space bridge, drawing the Nemesis away from the portal. Seeing through the ruse, Sky-Byte flew towards the unguarded space bridge of the Ark. Launching a one-robot assault on the Autobot ship, Sky-Byte breached the bridge and briefly wreaked havoc before being knocked off the ship by Grimlock. Despite this setback, he bought enough time for the Nemesis to arrive and unleash its firepower upon the Ark. Escape From Earth

Sky-Byte evidentially recovered in time to return to Cybertron along with the other Decepticons. However, the crew of Ark managed to abandoned ship before it was destroyed by Shockwave. During the subsequent battle, Sky-Byte knocked out several Autobots before engaging Arcee. Battle For Cybertron II After Windblade and Wheeljack managed to send Vector Sigma to unspace, Sky-Byte made a mad dash for Optimus Prime but was tossed aside by the Autobot leader. He later bore witness to the rebirth of Cybertron and the end of the war. Battle For Cybertron IV
**Spark Armor: "Driller Drive"

:Part of the first wave of "Spark Armor" Battle Class figures, Sky-Byte transforms into his traditional cyborg shark alt-mode. The figure is roughly the size of previous Scout/Legends/Basic Class figures, larger than contemporary Cyberverse Scout Class figures. He features decent articulation with ball joints on his hips, shoulders, and elbows and hinged knees and ankles. His left hand is his signature 4-bladed spinning tail claw, though it is held in place by his feet in shark mode. He comes with the "Driller Drive" vehicle that splits apart into his battle armor and attaches via multiple 5 mm connections. It appears to be based loosely on Zetar, sharing a similarly shaped "cockpit" and having details similar to his legs above its treads.

:In the official stock photography, Sky-Byte is holding the drill in his hand via the post on its side - but the drill is molded to be able to fit over his fist directly, as shown in the instructions, replacing his hand. This makes for a less awkward incorporation of the weapon, though the drill cannot actually spin in either mode. The drill also depicts a yellow paint operation (or an unpainted patch) on the butt-end of the handle.

:Unfortunately, the hexagonal 5 mm holes on the robot shoulders are prone to building some stress marks during transformation.

:In November 2019, Sky-Byte was released as one of TakaraTomy Mall's Cyberverse "Christmas Set" offers along with his rival Jetfire.
:Released in the fourth series of Cyberverse Tiny Turbo Changers, Sky-Byte transforms from shark to robot and back in a few steps. His robot-mode design is based on his Spark Armor form from the cartoon rather than the toy, only with his tail-claw on his right arm (which still features a fist) rather than being covered up by his drill, which is "hidden" under the shark head.
Praxus is one of Cybertron's city-states, located in the northern hemisphere. It borders one or more of the following city-states: Iacon, Uraya, and Protihex, making it a candidate for the city-states the Tri-Torus Loop leads to. Praxus is Cybertron's technological and cultural center and occupies a prominent position in Cybertron's political arena. This tends to put the citizens at odds with the Decepticons, who seek to forcefully reimagine Cybertronian society. For this reason, Praxus often is targeted during the early phases of the war.

Sometimes, it becomes more popularly known as Praxis.
Over 8.7 million years ago, Praxus was a flourishing, utopic metropolis, one of the Tri-Peninsular Torus States, Transformers: The Ultimate Guide and home to Bluestreak Transformers: Hardwired and Prowl. The War Within issue 1 Many of its citizens pursued a career as merchants and traders, New World Order while others had occupations that supported Praxus's status as Cybertron's technological and cultural center. Praxus was a city with little coherence in its architecture. Rather, the city's buildings reflected the essence of the all-encompassing tradition of Praxus, with some bearing the mark of shadowy ancient cultures whereas others were designed in the spirit of progress. One building looked like a pyramid, with a large glowing orb on top of it that glowed blue, orange and white in order. The orb broadcast a greeting in every available Cybertronian language to any alien culture elsewhere in the universe. Another building of unknown purpose appeared as a hundred massive, opaque bubbles stacked on top of one another. The city's landscape additionally featured white, blue, brown and golden towers, massive bulbous structures and ziggurats, and a number of citizens lived in apartments in graceful, cezium steel towers. The center of the city was occupied by the circular, domed and spired structure of the Assembly, the crown on Praxus's achievements.

The downside of Praxus's prosperity was that it drew the attention of Megatron. As a symbol of the virtues of the "old way", its existence was a liability to the philosophies of the Decepticon faction, and it eventually became the target of a grand scale attack. The intent was for every citizen present in the city at that time and every piece of evidence of their culture and civilization to be destroyed, with one exception. One citizen had to survive in order to spread the message of the Decepticons' might. Ramjet was put in charge of selecting and secretly protecting the lone survivor. The choice fell on Bluestreak, who ended up performing his role as Decepticon propaganda tool excellently. Transformers: Hardwired

A short time after the death of Sentinel Prime half a million years later, Grimlock called Jazz, Prowl, and other Autobots to the former site of Praxus's Helix Gardens to discuss the impending succession. Grimlock believed that the city served as a metaphor; The old ways were gone and the Decepticons' ruthlessness had left them without equivalent options. He informed his peers that if the new Prime was not able to do what needed to be done, they would have to take over leadership of the Autobots and, if necessary, take out the new Prime. The War Within issue 1

2.2 million years later, Praxus became Megatron's base of operation during the Age of Internment. He had nearly all of the Autobots enslaved in Internment Camp Pi, where they were put to work digging a tunnel to Cybertron's very core. He himself took up residence in the Decepticon High Command Aerie, which like everything in Praxus was guarded by Aerospace Extermination Squadron units. Shockwave was given a laboratory inside the aerie to find a way to make the squadron units loyal to Megatron instead of their true masters, the Quintessons. The Age of Wrath Pt.2 Shockwave's research advanced steadily, the only interruptions being a series of inexplicable explosions inside his lab. The Age of Wrath Pt.3

Unreleased WW comic
Megatron was informed by the Quintessons that the Autobot rebels hiding in Iacon were advancing on Internment Camp Pi to free their comrades, so the Decepticon leader went there to personally deal with them. Meanwhile, Shockwave succeeded in reprogramming two squadron units, only to find one of them possessed by Grimlock's ghost. The Age of Wrath Pt.4

In 2003, the Keepers informed Bluestreak how he had been manipulated by Megatron in the past, fueling his hatred for the Decepticons and Megatron in particular. Transformers: Hardwired When Shockwave arrived on Earth with the message that the war on Cybertron was long over and the order for the Earth-stationed Transformers to surrender, Bluestreak was the most fiercely opposed to obliging the Decepticon. New World Order

Praxus was a progressive state, its Helix Gardens a symbol of the Golden Age, and its Assembly was where scientists of Crystal City and Nova Cronum presented their findings. Many of its citizens approved of Megatron's anti-caste system beliefs, but were disappointed by his militant direction. Megatron felt betrayed by this reaction, and so he sent Seekers, Constructicons and Bruticus Maximus to attack. The Praxians threw in their support with the Autobots. With Praxus far from primary Decepticon territory, Megatron ran into the same supply problems as the Autobots normally did, and Praxus became the war's first stalemate. With thousands dead and the city ruined, Megatron conceded defeat and his soldiers left.
It was at Praxus that Optimus Prime gained two indispensable allies in Ironhide and Prowl. It was also the place where Ratchet made his name as medic and soldier. Transformers: Exodus
The same is true for the Dreamwave Generation One continuity, including the More Than Meets The Eye books. It was Scott Ciencin who established in Hardwired that Bluestreak's home city is Praxus. This likely was because at the time "Hardwired" was written, only a few locations on Cybertron had been given names and of them only Praxus had the properties to be Bluestreak's home city. The fact Bluestreak's moldsake Prowl was already established to be from Praxus may have contributed to the decision. In any case, whether future continuities will keep to this or reassign Bluestreak's home to another location is yet to be seen.
Torchbearers are a group of Camiens, always six in number, to represent the six sides of Solus Prime's Creation Lathe. Servants of the Mistress of Flame, the Torchbearers traditionally serve as an elite group of dedicated peacekeepers, travelling from town to town as their duties necessitate. On joining the group, members adopt a distinct color scheme that mark them as Torchbearers.

One such team of Torchbearers, led by the stalwart Pyra Magna, is dedicated to seeking out and protecting ancient Cybertronian relics. These team members are forged tough to withstand even the most volatile of environments, even the treacherous Rust Sea. Accidental exposure to the Enigma of Combination granted this group of Torchbearers a new power: the ability to combine into Victorion.

Pyra Magna's team of Torchbearers are sometimes known as the Rust Renegades.

The Torchbearers existed on Caminus for centuries, inducting new Torchbearers whenever a member fell in the line of duty. At one point, team leader Praesidia Magna visited the dead colony world of Antilla with the Mistress of Flame.

At some point during the past, the Torchbearers—then consisting of Praesidia Magna, Pyra, Skyburst, Stormclash, Fastbreak, and Rust Dust—visited the remote mining town of Parvus Oppidum at the request of Dustup, who had recently encountered some raiders. While investigating the town, the team came under attack by a horde of mechanical beasts, who killed Fastbreak and dragged Praesidia into a destructive singularity. Pyra, who had seemingly experienced a close encounter with the mythical Onyx Prime, was left traumatized by the attack, suffering recurring nightmares about her experience and Antilla. Realizing that Primes weren't the benevolent deities of Camien mythology, and realizing that she would need to stand against them if the time came, Pyra took command of the remnants of the Torchbearers and inducted Jumpstream and Dustup into their ranks to replace their losses. Ghost Stories

The Space Knight Livia at one point encountered a Cybertronian who wore the Torchbearers' colors, who had come to love an organic being. Asymmetric Warfare

When Optimus Prime first made contact with Caminus, First Contact (IDW) the Mistress of Flame believed that Optimus was the incarnation of the legendary Thirteenth Prime, the Arisen, a belief that Pyra Magna and the six Torchbearers under her command shared. All Hail Optimus Part 3: The Medium and the Message

Caminus became the first planet to join Cybertron's Council of Worlds; with the two planets linked by space bridge, the Mistress ordered Pyra's team to search for the remains of Crystal City on Cybertron. Arriving on Cybertron, they realized that Arcee had stolen the Enigma of Combination from under Chromia's guard; Rust Dust noticed Windblade and Chromia chasing Arcee into the Rust Sea. She pointed this out to Pyra Magna, who ordered her team into action, much to Dustup and Jumpstream's delight. As they group came upon the battling trio, Arcee threw a hard elbow into Windblade's face. Recognizing her as a Cityspeaker, Skyburst and Stormclash were horrified that Arcee had attacked Windblade, and despite Windblade's protestations, the team confronted Arcee with weapons drawn. Suddenly recognizing the Enigma as one of the artifacts the team was tasked with seeking, they drew back in fear that it would get damaged. Arcee, just happy to have it out of Starscream's grasp, prepared to destroy it, but at the last moment, Rust Dust lunged forward to protect it. In grabbing the Enigma, it was activated, and the Torchbearers were combined into Victorion!

Victorion immediately ordered Arcee to step back or be disintegrated by the goliath's weapons. Saying that creating combiners was exactly what she wanted to prevent by her theft, Arcee attacked her, but proved no match for the newborn combiner. Victorion's confusion at being formed from six different minds was completely overridden by her components' shared religious zeal at protecting artifacts of the Primes. Arcee was saved from the combiner's vicious attack only by Windblade's swift intervention. Dodging Victorion's volley of cannon fire, Arcee took refuge with Chromia and Windblade behind some rubble. They quickly talked her into teaming up to disarm the Torchbearers' combined form, and while Chromia and Windblade disabled Victorion's weapons, Windblade flew up to talk to her. Reminding Victorion that all of her components were dedicated servants of the Mistress of Flame, she was able to talk sense to the giant, and helped her realize that as devotees of Solus Prime, their mission, and now Victorion's mission, was one of peace and creation, not needless destruction. Realizing that Windblade was right, Victorion willingly separated back into the individual Torchbearers.

Pyra Magna apologized for her team's actions, saying that they'd been very disoriented by the experience. After Arcee decried Victorion as an abomination, Pyra Magna said that even though it was an accident that they'd been changed into a combiner, they had every right to be who they now were, and it was up to them to figure out whether the change was for good or bad.An Uneventful Night

After Optimus returned from an audience with the Mistress of Flame, he noticed Aileron defending herself well in a physical disagreement with Slug, and during his chat with her, she asked him about his visit. She told him that the group of six Transformers that accompanied The Mistress, all painted alike, were known as Torchbearers, and suggested that he talk, not to the group of Torchbearers he'd seen with The Mistress, but the other Torchbearers, who'd chosen to stay on Cybertron and live in the Rust Sea, "the worst part of the planet". Conquerors Part 1: Aphelion
Those Torchbearers later appeared in the midst of a dust storm to frighten off a group of Sweeps that were attacking a convoy guarded by the Dinobots. They kept silent and still, letting their mere presence serve as intimidation, impressing even Slug. The Transformers: Redemption

The Torchbearers remained in exile until Optimus Prime - seeking answers about what it truly meant to be a Prime, paid them a visit. Conquerors Part 1: Aphelion Victorion tested Optimus's physical and spiritual resolve.

The team is thematically linked to the Generation 1 cartoon episode "Cosmic Rust"; Victorion's sword is based on the Lightning Bug weapon from the episode, and each member of the team features a passage written on their bodies in the font High Moon Studios created based on the symbol language seen in the episode. Taken together, these passages spell out the prophetic warning heard in "Cosmic Rust": "If Cybertron be your home/Far away, never roam/Hear my message, listen and fear/Danger comes, the end is near/Just like us, you soon will rust/All shall be turned to dust."

:Victorion is only available as a box set, through outlets currently undetermined (but presumably as a "shared exclusive" via online sites, alongside the Generation 2-colored box set versions of Superion and Menasor). The final product will feature a muted green compared to the prototype pictures.

:Many (if not all) samples of Pyra Magna come with misassembled knee struts. They are reversed on both legs, preventing her knee assemblies from locking in properly for robot mode.

:Victorion also comes with a poster and a collector card based on her packaging art.
Notes
*Aileron's talk with Optimus Prime in "Aphelion" reveals that the group led by Pyra Magna aren't the Torchbearers, but rather members of a larger group named Torchbearers. The second known group of Torchbearers, who still reside on Caminus, have so far gone unnamed.
After studying the captive Autobot Battle Patrol, Thunderwing and his scientists managed to replicate Emirate Xaaron's Micromaster process and create a new era of Decepticon Micromasters, the Sports Car Patrol being the second team created. A Small War!

While traveling solo in the Dead End, Sports Car Patrol leader Blackjack was jumped by two Autobots, when a disorientated and damaged Megatron stumbled upon them. Blackjack crying out his name and the sight of the Autobrand returned Megatron to his senses, and he blasted the Micromasters' attackers. The Sports Car Patrol became Megatron's first recruits in his plans to rebuild his power base on Cybertron and gain revenge against Decepticon and Autobot alike on Earth. The Resurrection Gambit! Using the trans-time dimensional portal, the patrol infiltrated the Ark, and Blackjack attempted to destabilize Ratchet mentally by remote-controlling the remains of the deactivated Autobots on which the medic was working. When this failed, the patrol attempted Plan B, coming out into the open with fake Autobot insignia and trying convince Ratchet into believing they were Autobots on their way back to Cybertron, leading him not to advanced medical equipment but into Megatron's clutches. Back from the Dead

While the remainder of the patrol traveled back to Cybertron with Ratchet, Blackjack stayed behind to dispatch the skeleton crew aboard the Ark and rig explosives to blow it up. but crusty old Kup reactivated and startled him, causing the Micromaster to drop the triggering mechanism for the explosives, starting the countdown. All the Familiar Faces! Meanwhile, on Cybertron Ratchet eventually outsmarted Megatron and reactivated his buddies (Jazz, Grimlock, and Bumblebee) as Pretenders, the Sports Car Patrol and the Decepticon Powermasters had a running battle with the Autobots, giving the Autobot medic time to use the trans-time dimensional portal to transport the explosives aboard the Ark to Megatron's base. The battle took both Micromasters, Pretenders and Powermasters outside the base and, luckily, out of range of the massive explosion which leveled the entire complex. The Sports Car Patrol presumably survived, but were never seen again. Skin Deep
The Race Car Patrol, Off Road Patrol, Rescue Patrol and Sports Car Patrol emerged from hyperspace at several hundred mach into the Ark. A day later, a huge battle took place in New York as the Autobots battled the Decepticons. The Decepticons unleashed a robotic hell-beast known as 'King Con' which the Sports Car Patrol help to battle, however Optimus Prime rented a helicopter to fly a banner announcing huge raw oil deposit finds in the Rocky Mountains. ===Dreamwave Generation One continuity===
All four members of the Sports Car Patrol were among the Micromasters created by the Autobots and Decepticons in a joint venture prior to the Great Shutdown. They were present at the events caused by Skystalker and Skyhopper.

The four did not belong to the Decepticons, but were neutral like most other Micromasters. They also did not seem to form a coherent unit, but rather acted as individuals and did not show any closer relation to their intended teammates than to any other Micromaster. Therefore, it appears arguable if a unit called the Sports Car Patrol actually existed in this continuity. Transformers: Micromasters
The Sports Car Patrol were highly advanced warriors in the service of their masters in the Dead Universe. They ran afoul of Nightbeat on Gorlam Prime while protecting the "hole in the world". The Race Car Patrol, Off Road Patrol, Rescue Patrol, and Sports Car Patrol emerged from hyperspace at several hundred mach into the Ark. A day later, a huge battle took place in New York as the Autobots battled the Decepticons. The Decepticons unleashed a robotic hell-beast known as 'King Con' which the Race Car Patrol help to battle, however Optimus Prime rented a helicopter to fly a banner announcing huge raw oil deposit finds in the Rocky Mountains. After a short hesitation, the Decepticons retreated to pursue these findings. Transformers Comic-Magazin issue 7
Overdrive and the other two Omnibots were featured in several recruitment messages directed at human allies. The first message detailed the Omnibots' arrival on Earth: The Autobots marooned on that planet had sent an S.O.S. to Cybertron, despite not knowing if anyone would be there to receive it. Luckily, their plea was answered in the form of the Omnibots, Powerdashers, and Time Warriors. The Omnibots quickly adapted to Earth's highways, scouting for and attacking Decepticons. Reinforcements from Cybertron! This message was later repeated almost verbatim, with minor changes made to accommodate a recruitment drive for S.T.A.R.S. The battle is far from over!

Overdrive personally narrated the next message, describing how he and his comrades had turned the tide in the Autobots' favor and were gearing up to strike at hidden Decepticon bases. However, Optimus Prime was holding back until human allies had been mobilized. As with the other messages, Overdrive offered S.T.A.R.S. membership, but unlike the others, this one seemed to be aimed at specifically military personnel. Several vehicles were made available for the recipients' "[[G.I. Joe (team)|G.I. The next pair of messages told the story of Johnny, a young S.T.A.R.S. member whose town came under Thundercracker's energy-draining attack. He summoned a squad of Autobot cars as well as the Omnibots, but it is unknown how the presumed battle unfolded. Have the Decepticons defeated us once and for all?Can one boy, alone, hold back the evil Decepticons?

The final message involving the Omnibots was delivered from Ultra Magnus to the potential new S.T.A.R.S. Commander. Magnus presented another glimpse of Overdrive's personality (that he was a strategist), then claimed that the Omnibots were "destined to fight a war in another universe on March 31, 1987" if the S.T.A.R.S. Commander did not requisition them. You Have Been Chosen. And, indeed, they were absent from all future messages.
When Starscream combined himself with the Trigger to create a powerful new body for himself, Overdrive had to contend with the volley of asteroids thrown towards both Autobots and Decepticons from Starscream's star gate. He was then almost sucked into a portal to a black hole when Starscream neared defeat, but was instead sent plummeting down to Earth when Optimus and Megatron worked together to defeat Starscream. The Battle of the Star Gate
Story of Binaltech
During the second wave of reconstructions under the Binaltech Project, Overdrive recovered from the Cosmic Rust virus by transferring into a new body designed by Honda's Wako-based Technology Research Center. Outfitted with new weapons and the Quantum Dial, an old version of his dimension-traveling apparatus, Overdrive assumed the place of high tactician among Ultra Magnus' soldiers at Autobot City. Reality Check It was his experience voyaging the dimensional fabric that enabled Overdrive to recognize the future Ravage's manipulations of the timestream. His efforts, combined with Prowl's, finally allowed the Autobots to capture Ravage. Prowl & Chase Darkest Hour (prose)

After Operation: Distant Thunder neutralized the random time-warps appearing throughout the universe, Overdrive used his dimension-hopping powers to confirm that the main timeline had been restored, separate from their own Binaltech reality. Binal Time

He later confirmed that the original Prowl's spark, currently displaced in the "unaltered" timestream, had stabilized after a project of the Concurrence had been interfering with it. The Concurrence had been leeching energy from the Spark from across dimensions to power an artificial Transformer. With its destruction, Prowl's spark was saved. Unfortunately, Overdrive further stated that Prowl's spark was too vulnerable to be sent across dimensions unprotected. A body had to be sent over to the other dimension first, so that Prowl's spark could be properly housed. Unfinished Business, Part 2
During a massive battle on Cybertron, Galvatron introduced his latest combining warrior, Predaking. Predaking simultaneously took out Defensor, Omega Supreme, and Superion with a single punch, causing much worry for the Autobots, as Sky Lynx was already engaged in battle on Earth.

From out of nowhere came Camshaft, Downshift and Overdrive. They swiftly shifted into their vehicle modes and circled Predaking, tying up his legs with cable. Predaking swatted at them to no avail!

Then the Omnibots transformed into their battle modes and...drove at Predaking, which caused him to topple backwards onto Bruticus, Devastator, and Menasor, taking them all out.
The Fallen came to attack Cybertron to steal Vector Sigma. As the villain reached the super-computer, he sardonically thanked Overdrive for "guiding him" to his goal. The nearby Shouki interpreted this to mean that Overdrive was in cahoots with The Fallen, and turned on his fellow Autobot, only to be stopped by Alpha Trion. Vector Sigma then began to fight back against The Fallen, assuming its seldom-seen robot mode as the Oracle. After Overdrive willingly petitioned his spark to it, the Oracle lent its brilliant light to Overdrive and his Quantum Dial, allowing the Omnibot to summon new defenders from outside space and time to protect Vector Sigma. Overdrive vanished, but six new warriors appeared in the skies to battle The Fallen. Train Wars

Daniel Witwicky and Goshooter were among the reinforcements who arrived. The Fallen attempted to banish Daniel through dimension space, but instead Daniel's appearance acted as a beacon to Overdrive. Seeing a path home, Overdrive was able to recover Daniel and bring them both back to Cybertron. Once the Fallen was defeated, Overdrive and the Omnibots offered to return the dimensionally displaced warriors home. Train Wars 2
:For the Binaltech line, Overdrive was given a new alternate mode as a licensed 1:24 scale Honda S2000 sports car with a removable "ragtop" roof, which doubles as a shield in robot mode, plus a replacement "folded down" ragtop roof piece. Like most Alternators toys, Overdrive features rubber tires, opening doors, hood and trunk, a detailed driver/passenger compartment complete with seats, dashboard and steering wheel and a working "steering" mechanism (though not connected to the steering wheel).

:His counterpart in Hasbro's Alternators line was released as Windcharger due to Hasbro's inability to secure the trademark for "Overdrive"on the character name. Differences between Alternators Windcharger and Binaltech Overdrive go beyond the different names and the usual mix of die-cast metal and plastic parts for the Binaltech version's vehicle mode shell (including a fully painted car exterior) versus the Alternators version's all-plastic car shell: At the request of Honda's USA branch, who didn't like the idea of "their" toy toting a gun around, Windcharger lacks the long drive-shaft/barrel for the rifle accessory formed from his engine block, which was even called a "shield" on the packaging. Since Honda's Japanese department had no such objections, however, Binaltech Overdrive did include an unchanged barrel. Other minor differences include slightly differently-shaped visors, the paint operations on the front grille, and their dashboards sculpted as mirrored counterparts of each other, with Overdrive having the steering wheel on the rights side (like a Japanese car) while Windcharger has it on the left side (like an American car) for all the Hasbro markets he was released in.

:The Alternators version of this sculpt (with Windcharger's American-car dashboard) was retooled into Alternators Decepticharge, which was planned to get a Binaltech counterpart (with Overdrive's Japanese-car dashboard) as Wildrider and eventually as "Blackwidow", but those plans were ultimately scrapped. *The trio of Omnibots were originally Diaclone "Doublechangers", named for their ability to transform into both standard car and combat car modes.
*The road to having a personality has been a long and rocky one for Overdrive:
**The bio included with his North American toy was buried in his instructions, and all it said was that the Omnibots were in the early stages of their evolution and had not yet been tested.
**He was given his "Strategist" function in the last mail-in flyer that offered him, just in time for him to venture off into "another dimension." That would be the long and short of his official English-language characterization for almost twenty years.
**In Japan, Takara did release a bio with the toy, though his function of "Commander" did not quite match up with the American one.
**None of this particularly reflected the profile found in the Marvel comic bible, which was written in both Transformers Universe form and in the pared-down style of an on-package bio (with Tech Specs, even!), portraying him as a speedy personality focused on winning. This was never officially released to the public.
**The English-speaking public finally got an official profile for Overdrive in Dreamwave's 2003 More Than Meets the Eye comic. This description matched up shockingly well to his comic-bible profile, considering that the two other Omnibots had much more disparate portrayals.
*Whether the Alternators Windcharger toy actually represents G1 Windcharger or Overdrive, whom it was originally designed as (and actually released as under Binaltech), is up for debate. The toy's packaging lacks a bio, it even predates the addition of mottos to Alternators packaging, and with Alternators designs not appearing in any fiction whatsoever (with one exception), all we have to go by is his name. Since Windcharger predates the practice of using the name of an established character as an alternate name for a toy of a different character from the same continuity whose name is unavailable for trademark (or other) reasons (see "Snarl", "Strafe", and "Caliburst" for a few examples), we have chosen to keep the figure listed on Windcharger's page, not least because the Binaltech version is listed on Overdrive's page after all.
*A mock-up of a new Overdrive toy in the form of a 2008 Universe Silverstreak redeco was shown in Transformers Generations 2014 Vol. 1 as one of ten potential exclusives for Vol. 2. Bumblebee opted to ignore his orders and steered the vessel clear of Iacon, but was intercepted by Shadow Striker; in the meantime, Grimlock and an Autobot unit assembled to rescue Bumblebee, and though Grimlock fired a warning shot at Shadow Striker the scout told them to let the Decepticon go. Shadowstriker (episode)

At some point in the war, Bumblebee was transporting the Allspark to a storage superstructure drop point. When Bumblebee told him that the Allspark had spoken to him, the Dinobot remarked that if the package was talking to him, he hoped that it had told Bee to deliver it quickly.

During a subsequent battle to launch the Allspark off Cybertron and beyond Decepticon hands, Grimlock took part and helped hold off a group of Seekers from attacking Bumblebee. Although he was defeated, Bumblebee and Optimus Prime were able to send the Allspark though the space bridge. Allspark (Cyberverse)

Eventually, Optimus came to realize his mistake in sending the Allspark away from Cybertron, and assembled the Ark to retrieve it in the hopes that it could restore Cybertron to life, Matrix of Leadership (episode) and Grimlock was one of the Autobots selected to join Prime on this mission. On the day the Ark left Cybertronk, Grimlock called Bumblebee and Windblade, who were enjoying one last drink with Maccadam, and ordered them to report to Autobot headquarters. Maccadam's As Bumblebee reached the Ark, Grimlock urged him to hurry up, lest the ship take off without him. Memory (Cyberverse)

After leaving Cybertron behind, the Ark travelled through space for an unknown period of time; long enough, however, that resources began to run low, and the ship's dwindling supplies of energon became a paramount concern for the Autobots aboard. During the final phase of their voyage, Teletraan-1 located an uncharted planet with a natural Energon supply, and Grimlock joined Prime and Bumblebee to investigate the readings. Partnered with Bumblebee, Grimlock found himself assaulted by the Cave monsters who inhabited the barren world, dragged into their underground lair. Grimlock was able to hold them off long enough for his fellow Autobots to track his energy signature, but during the brief battle against the aliens Optimus discovered that the creatures consumed energon and ordered a retreat, opting to respect their natural food supply.

Back aboard the ship, Grimlock and the other crew members were forced to enter stasis to conserve power, leaving the ship's autonomous systems to alert them should the Ark cross paths with the AllSpark... unaware that the vessel had already detected the artifact close by. The Journey

At some point afterwards, the Ark crash-landed on Earth; and as the ship entered the atmosphere, Grimlock was roused from his stasis pod by the ship's systems. Despite his best efforts to rescue Bumblebee's stasis pod, he was unable to prevent his friend from slipping away and tumbling to Earth... moments before he lost his own grip, sending him plummeting to the surface. King of the Dinosaurs Stranded on a prehistoric planet, Grimlock spent thousands of stellar cycles fruitlessly searching for his ship. Eventually, he turned his attention to befriending the local dinosaurs, even adopting a Tyrannosaurus rex mode of his own and modifying his circuits to help him survive in the harsh landscape. Over the years, Grimlock was able to domesticate several dinosaurs and use them to help build a new base for himself, rebuilding a cave into a copy of the Ark's old bridge, The Extinction Event and keeping a video log detailing his exploits with his new friends. Among his other inventions was a crown-like tracking device that would allow him to find his base of operations. King of the Dinosaurs

Towards the end of the Mesozoic era, the sensors in Grimlock's new base detected the arrival of the asteroid that would ultimately wipe out the dinosaurs. The Extinction Event Undaunted by this, Grimlock recorded one last message with his friends, proudly announcing their defiance in the face of certain doom. Despite this, the meteor hit and the dinosaurs died off, and over the years Grimlock's internal power supplies ran low until he was forced into stasis lock, buried for millions upon millions of years. King of the Dinosaurs

While searching through memories of Maccadam and his establishment, Bumblebee received a cryptic message from the strange bartender informing him that he needed to find the "king of the dinosaurs". Maccadam's This would go on to inform Windblade and Bumblebee's motives for some time; while searching through Bumblebee's memories for any hint of what a "dinosaur" could be, the pair were hacked by Shockwave, who trapped Bumblebee in a false memory designed to convince him he was a Decepticon. In this illusion, Grimlock served as Wheeljack's defense attorney after "Bumblebee" threw him out the Ark's airlock. Sabotage Around this time, Slipstream's group of Decepticons learned of the presence of another Autobot on Earth, marking his location for future reference. Siloed

While captured by the Decepticons, Windblade was able to steal this information, and used it to track down Grimlock; upon excavating his frozen dinosaur form underneath a human construction site, Teletraan-X filled them in on the history of the dinosaurs, prompting Bumblebee to realize that Grimlock was the metaphorical "king of the dinosaurs" they had been searching for. Despite bringing him back online by tapping into the human power grid, the pair were unprepared for Grimlock's beast mode, and the dinosaur-mode Grimlock ran amok through the city before Teletraan-X was able to calm him down. When Bumblebee reunited him with his homing beacon, Grimlock excitedly tracked down his old base, in the hopes of reuniting with his dinosaur friends, but was saddened to learn that the dinosaurs had died off long ago. On discovering his old video logs, Grimlock's robot mode was able to reassert itself, welcoming his friends to his old base. King of the Dinosaurs

After showing off his base and explaining his adventures a bit more to his friends, Grimlock's base detected Shockwave bringing two magnetic disruptors to Earth, intending to use them to deactivate Earth's geomagnetic field. Though Grimlock was willing to attack the ship at the South Pole, Teletraan-X revealed they needed only to stop one ship to save the Earth and headed for the North Pole. Upon arrival, Grimlock left Bumblebee and Windblade to distract the Decepticons while he and Teletraan boarded the ship. Though the two defeated all opposition aboard, the disruptor had already gone off. Undeterred, Grimlock simply smashed the ship's bridge into scrap metal, halting the disruptor and saving the Earth. The Extinction Event

Back at his base, Grimlock revealed a map of Pangaea and his theory that the Ark was buried in swamplands. A theory that Teletraan-X declared to be completely wrong. Using the map, combined with a variety of other data, the little drone tracked the Ark down to Mount St. Hilary prompting the Autobots to set out and reawaken their comrades. As they neared the mountain however, the Seekers struck, downing their craft. Employing a Fastball Special, Grimlock hurled Teletraan at Thundercracker and Bumblebee at Nova Storm, taking both Seekers out of the fight. When Teletraan returned, he informed them that the Decepticon fleet was bearing down on Earth. As the quartet ventured into one of volcano's lava tubes, Grimlock fell directly into a pool of the substance only to emerge unharmed and armed with fire-breath. An ability he used to melt down a wall and reveal the Ark. Awaken Sleeping Giants

Unfortunately, the Decepticons caught up with them again and Grimlock once again squared off against the Seekers before he engaged Shadow Striker until Shockwave used the remaining disruptor to ignite Mount St. Hilary and have the eruption destroy the Ark. When Teletraan-X assumed control of the Ark, he used its weapon implants to scare away the Decepticons, prompting Grimlock and Windblade to enter the ship. Fortunately, Teletraan managed to raise the shields before the volcano erupted with Grimlock happily greeting his old crew until Teletraan detected that the Decepticon fleet had arrived with the Ark as their first target. Eruption
Amalgamous Prime is one of the Thirteen, the original Primes, who were created by Primus to battle and defeat his nemesis, Unicron. A gentle, good-natured prankster, Amalgamous Prime was the trickster of the Thirteen and the master of change; he could instantaneously assume just about any shape he could imagine. Amalgamous's curious nature and independent mind meant that he rarely stayed in one place for very long. His equally mutable Scythe mimicked his own whimsical form, constantly changing from one shape or state of matter to another. Supposedly, he would go on to found the Shifters, who took after his fluid and malleable nature.

Fiction
Aligned continuity family
The Covenant of Primus
Amalgamous Prime was the ninth Prime created by Primus to defeat Unicron. He possessed two artifacts of power - his shapeshifting Scythe and the original Transformation Cog, which caused him to shift and flow constantly. In the ensuing battle against Primus's archenemy, Amalgamous fought on the front lines as a warrior, and together the Thirteen saw off Unicron. In the age of peace and rebuilding that followed, Amalgamous, Liege Maximo, and Micronus Prime busied themselves with mining and refining Energon, although personality conflicts simmered between the trio and Alpha Trion, Prima, and Vector Prime, who Amalgamous viewed as bossy and controlling.

After the schism that resulted in the deaths of Solus Prime and Liege Maximo and the self-imposed exile of Megatronus, the Primes decided to create a new generation of Cybertronians that might follow them. Amalgamous Prime provided the imprint of his Transformation Cog to their alchemical "brew" in the Well of All Sparks, so that all Cybertronians that emerged would have his gift of transformation, albeit to a lesser degree.

Amalgamous eventually left Cybertron for parts unknown, although 'bots of his archetype would occasionally demonstrate greater shape-changing abilities, arising as the Shifters.

After Cybertron's Golden Age, Mercury and her displaced fleet of Neutronian refugees discovered Amalgamous Prime's Transformation Cog near a black hole, and took it on board. Prolonged exposure to the Cog altered their physiologies, giving them the power of unlimited shapeshifting and the ability to combine with one another into many different forms. Thus altered, these Transformers renamed themselves Mutacons, and began searching for Amalgamous in the hopes that he could undo the change before they permanently merged into a single amorphous being. Transformers: The Covenant of Primus

Prime cartoon
According to legend, at the beginning of time, Unicron and Primus battled each other for eons, with neither side remaining victorious for long. Till, that is, Primus created the Thirteen. These Thirteen defeated Unicron and cast him into space. One Shall Rise, Part 1

Aligned novels
Among the Thirteen, Amalgamous Prime's talent for change was rivaled only by Nexus Prime. While Nexus excelled in combination, separation, and alt-forms, though, Amalgamous Prime could alter his shape itself, assuming any appearance he desired. Impatient and perhaps selfish, Amalgamous expressed his distaste to Solus Prime when she dedicated so much of her time to the creation of Megatronus's Requiem Blaster. Amalgamous Prime's fate after the betrayal of Megatronus and the plotting of Liege Maximo remained unknown. Only Alpha Trion and Alchemist Prime remained on Cybertron as the planet's civilization developed, but legend has it that Amalgamous may have returned at a later date, and the rarely seen modern Transformers known as "Shifters" are somehow descended from him. Transformers: Exiles

Ask Vector Prime
During the time that the Thirteen of the multiverse existed as singularities, Vector Prime recounted in his ANN column how Amalgamous and four of his siblings ended up in the Realm of the Primes following the dissolution of the Thirteen. When Vector Prime (who had self-induced amnesia in order to protect the location of Nexus Prime's components) ended up in the Realm of the Primes during his campaign against Mogahn the Mass, Vector's siblings unlocked his memories as Primus's appointed guardian of space and time. Vector Prime then returned to normal space and wrested away Mogahn's Cyber Caliber. Using Amalgamous's gift, Vector reformatted the blade into Rhisling and vanquished Mogahn, sending the Mass back in time and thus causing the Big Bang.

Vector's audience was confused by this account, however, as Amalgamous was not known to be a member of the Thirteen outside of the Uniend Cluster, and moreover, Vector had claimed that he used to go by the name "Adaptus", who readers understood to be a separate entity from another universe. The distressed Vector realized that he was somehow conflating memories from different universes into one (in actuality, a portent of the coming Shroud that would eradicate the Thirteen's singularity nature), making it hard to know whether Amalgamous was truly part of the events he had described or not. Ask Vector Prime
Amalgamous Prime's Spark passed into the possession of one of the twelve Prime Masters; hidden within a suit of decoy armor, they safeguarded the abilities of the Primes until the present day. By uniting with a larger Transformer, the Prime Master could channel the powers of Amalgamous's Spark and grant them unique abilities that varied with each new partner. Power of the Primes (toyline)
