==Synopsis==

Stuck in a cosmic "time out" with the [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticons]], [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream]] decides to book it, declaring the Combaticons incompetent. Unfazed, [[Onslaught (G1)|Onslaught]] has developed a plan of revenge; [[Blast Off (G1)|Blast Off]] is towing their asteroid to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. The Combaticons' arrival on Cybertron interrupts a little target practice [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] is holding for the [[Sentinel (G1)|Sentinel drones]]. The Combaticons merge into [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]], decimate the Sentinels, and launch gun-mode Shockwave into deep space. Onslaught declares that Operation: Revenge has begun.

On [[Earth]], [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]] is overseeing the [[Insecticon (G1)|Insecticon]] army, as they devour a city one building at a time. [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] and the [[Autobot]]s arrive, but the Insecticons are moving into a nearby neighborhood that is still inhabited. Prime is unwilling to risk civilian casualties, so the Autobot leader sends in the [[Protectobot (G1)|Protectobots]] to evacuate the civilians.

At the [[Ark (G1)|Autobot base]], [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] is giving [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike Witwicky]] a little astronomy lesson about shooting stars, noting that the odds of an ''actual'' star colliding with the Earth are slim...

Meanwhile, out in space, Starscream literally runs into Shockwave. Apparently unaware that Starscream has been exiled, Shockwave enlists his help to rescue Cybertron.

At Shockwave's base, [[Brawl (G1)|Brawl]] is itching for a fight, Blast Off advises calm, as Onslaught is sure to have a plan. That plan involves the [[Space bridge]]. Though it is far ahead of any Decepticon technology Onslaught has previously seen, he manages to rig the space bridge to move Earth into its [[sun]], which will destroy the Decepticons and the Autobots at the same time!

On Earth, the humans have been successfully evacuated from the city, and the Autobots begin blasting the Insecticons to bits. However, Spike and Perceptor arrive, [[Powerglide (G1)|Powerglide]] dropping them off, having learned of Earth's altered orbit, and inform Prime of the peril. The Autobots head for the space bridge, and Megatron orders [[Shrapnel (G1)|Shrapnel]] to remove the space bridge's control console and evacuate.

On Cybertron, Starscream and Shockwave use a [[holographic projector]] to make the Combaticons believe that they are under attack. Shockwave discovers Onslaught's space bridge modifications, but Starscream shoots him, then sends Megatron an ultimatum: Surrender leadership of the Decepticons, or everything on Earth, including Megatron and the Decepticons, will fry. However, the Combaticons eventually figure out the ruse, and they imprison Starscream and Shockwave.

Megatron sends [[Thrust (G1)|Thrust]] and [[Ramjet (G1)|Ramjet]] to locate the Insecticons, but they discover that the bug-bots have chewed up the console. The Autobots, who have also tracked down the Decepticons, offered to assist Megatron and the Decepticons. Perceptor repairs the console with parts from Prime and Megatron. Prime insists that the Autobots be included in the trip to Cybertron, which Megatron relents to, and the united teams head to Cybertron, leaving the Protectobots to struggle with rising temperatures and find a way to keep the human race from being wiped out.

The two teams free Starscream and Shockwave, the former loudly protesting that he was forced to threaten Megatron by the Combaticons, and the latter immediately denouncing the story as lies. Before anyone can do anything else, the Combaticons attack, merging into Bruticus when the fight turns against them. Starscream reveals that Bruticus has one weak point on his back that, if blasted, will shut him down. Prime manages to shoot the weak point, and [[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]] reverses the space bridge, returning Earth to its proper orbit.

Prime and Megatron agree to destroy Bruticus, and Megatron allows the Autobots to leave unharmed. However, the Decepticons have faked Bruticus' destruction, and reprogrammed the real Bruticus to serve Megatron. Megatron pardons Starscream and restores him to the Decepticon ranks.

*A shot later, we see Sideswipe, Prowl and Sunstreaker run towards Prime, but the next shot shows only Sideswipe standing next to him.

* Using a microscope to enlarge an image on a computer screen does not work that way. Spike would be looking at individual pixels.
* How improbable is it that in the infinite vastness of space, underlined by Perceptor just seconds before, with Starscream only heading in the general direction of Cybertron and Shockwave being randomly tossed off its surface and out of its orbit, that the two randomly crash into each other?
* While waiting for Onslaught to implement his plan, Brawl mentions to Blast Off how he'd like to "attack the Earth now and crush Megatron like an Insecticon". Of all the Decepticons the Combaticons encountered since their reactivation during the previous episode, the Insecticons were not among them.
* Shockwave appears completely unaware that Starscream was an exile. Has Megatron never heard of memos?
* After finding the projector, Swindle tells the other Combaticons, "Gentlemen, we've been had." Considering their contempt for humanity, the turn of phrase is somewhat strange.

While out on a specimen-gathering mission, [[Optimus Primal]] and [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]] argue over the importance of studying the local flora. Primal finds it valuable, while Dinobot thinks the whole mission is pointless and dangerous. As he turns to leave, the plant Primal is studying shoots a seed pod at Dinobot that lands right at the top of his neck, right where he can't reach. As Dinobot struggles, Primal helps remove the pod and notes that they've learned something.

Just then, the pair are ambushed by [[Scorponok (BW)|Scorponok]], who manages to implant a [[Cyberbee]] onto Optimus Primal's chest before being driven away. Back at the ''[[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]'', Primal recuperates in a [[CR chamber]] while Dinobot explains that the bee is a viral mine designed by Scorponok to infect Optimus's core systems and humble his personality, making him too cowardly to lead adequately. [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] deduces that because the mine has infected all of Primal's core systems, removing the bee is impossible without killing the [[Maximal]] commander, and doing so would trigger a self-destruct that would destroy everything within sprinting distance.

As they wonder what to do next, the CR chamber shakes and is blasted apart. Out stomps Optimus Primal, ready for battle. The cyberbee has had the opposite effect on Primal, turning him into a crazed berserker. Obviously, Scorponok's "notorious incompetence" has caused the Predacon's plan to backfire. Still, in his current state, Primal is now a danger to himself and his teammates, and is still at risk of perishing under the system drain of the mine. Primal orders his troops to lock him up.

The Maximals debate over what to do next, knowing that Scorponok would have the anti-virus for the mine but unsure of how to acquire it. With what little bit of clarity he has left, Optimus Primal convinces [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] that they could use the mine against the Predacons, and Cheetor releases him. Primal wants to take advantage of their enemy's lack of knowledge of the mine's malfunction to launch a surprise assault. When brought to the rest of the crew, his plan is shot down as being far too risky and dangerous to attempt. Optimus accidentally shoots and activates an alarm, which then sets him into a tantrum. The Maximals try to stop him, but Primal shoves them all away and takes off for the Pred base on his own.

With their options running short, Dinobot ironically suggests they "think like the old Optimus" and proposes negotiating with the Predacons for the cure, but their attempt only serves to give the Predacons advance warning of Optimus Primal's new state and his oncoming assault. Now with the Preds on full alert and with no other course of action to take, the Maximals begrudgingly follow Optimus to the [[Darksyde|Predacon base]] to give him covering fire in his one-ape assault.

After blasting his way in, Optimus Primal takes on [[Tarantulas (BW)|Tarantulas]] and pins him to the wall with his own weapon. Primal then breaks through another wall to grab [[Waspinator]] and blow him away. Outside, the Maximals take on [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] and [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]], giving Cheetor a chance to run inside the base.

After tearing through the Predacon crew, Optimus Primal ends up confronting [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]], who teasingly dangles the cure in front of his nose while giving an ultimatum: Submit to him and live, or stay defiant and die from the mine.

Inspired by the plant specimen from his mission with Dinobot, Optimus chooses a third option and rips the bee from his chest, activating its self-destruct. He tosses it at Megatron and it attaches to the Predacon leader's back where he can't reach. Megatron drops the anti-virus and flees to Scorponok for help. Fortunately for Primal, Cheetor manages to arrive just in time to grab the cure and administer it to the Maximal leader before his [[spark]] gives out. Megatron reaches Scorponok, but not in time, and the Cyberbee blows just after the Maximals rush outside the base.

Optimus Primal recuperates in his quarters and finds Dinobot watching over him. Dinobot shares an uncharacteristic sentiment that he's glad Optimus is back and wanders out. Primal sees that the former Predacon has brought him a sample of the flower they were studying earlier. Awwww.

When brought to the rest of the crew, his plan is shot down as being far too risky and dangerous to attempt. Optimus accidentally shoots and activates an alarm, which then sets him into a tantrum. The Maximals try to stop him, but Primal shoves them all away and takes off for the Pred base on his own.

With their options running short, Dinobot ironically suggests they "think like the old Optimus" and proposes negotiating with the Predacons for the cure, but their attempt only serves to give the Predacons advance warning of Optimus Primal's new state and his oncoming assault. Now with the Preds on full alert and with no other course of action to take, the Maximals begrudgingly follow Optimus to the [[Darksyde|Predacon base]] to give him covering fire in his one-ape assault.

After blasting his way in, Optimus Primal takes on [[Tarantulas (BW)|Tarantulas]] and pins him to the wall with his own weapon. Primal then breaks through another wall to grab [[Waspinator]] and blow him away. Outside, the Maximals take on [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] and [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]], giving Cheetor a chance to run inside the base.

After tearing through the Predacon crew, Optimus Primal ends up confronting [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]], who teasingly dangles the cure in front of his nose while giving an ultimatum: Submit to him and live, or stay defiant and die from the mine.

Inspired by the plant specimen from his mission with Dinobot, Optimus chooses a third option and rips the bee from his chest, activating its self-destruct. He tosses it at Megatron and it attaches to the Predacon leader's back where he can't reach. Megatron drops the anti-virus and flees to Scorponok for help. Fortunately for Primal, Cheetor manages to arrive just in time to grab the cure and administer it to the Maximal leader before his [[spark]] gives out. Megatron reaches Scorponok, but not in time, and the Cyberbee blows just after the Maximals rush outside the base.

Optimus Primal recuperates in his quarters and finds Dinobot watching over him. Dinobot shares an uncharacteristic sentiment that he's glad Optimus is back and wanders out. Primal sees that the former Predacon has brought him a sample of the flower they were studying earlier. Awwww.

===Animation and technical glitches===
*After the Maximals transform to engage Scorponok during his ambush, Scorponok is seen firing missiles at them. The animation pace for this particular sequence seems a lot faster than the pace for the rest of the episode.
*In the overhead shot of the opening battle, Scorponok seems to be standing on the surface of the water, instead of the rocks right in front of him.
*May not be much of an error, but once again, Scorponok's visor optics are red momentarily when he is first blasted by Optimus Primal and finds himself on a loose log near the waterfall.
