As in, we feel that the Jazz from the games/books and the Jazz from RID are the same guy since he and Bee are old pals and we definitely know Bee is the same across the games/books/shows/etc., but while WFC Sideswipe was a compatriot of Jazz and Bee in the war, RID Sideswipe was not.
:::::I mean, if your argument for the Prime and RBA Hot Shots being unquestionably the same guy (even at a point when we barely know anything about RBA Hot Shot at all, if I might add) is that they're both based on the same source character of UT Hot Shot, then, well, the exact same could be said of the WFC and RID Sideswipes both being based on G1 Sideswipe, with the added bonus of RID Sideswipe's characterization even being the closest we've ever come to seeing the "brash, loosely-obedient, crafty rebel" personality described in both G1 Sideswipe's original Bob Budiansky-written profile and his Dreamwave MTMTE profile properly depicted in story form.

::Yeah, I'm not so sure now either. At first I thought Hot Shot being a pre-existing Wrecker was a good reason to assume he was a different 'bot in-universe from the Rescue Bots Academy rookie. But I thought that came from his toy's bio card, when actually the Hot Shot (Prime) toy bio just sounds like a generic up-and-coming 'bot. :::While I wouldn't mind a split, I'm pretty sure that the reason Hot Shot was made a Wrecker in that BotCon script reading was because, at the time, this Wiki treated Prime Hot Shot and WFC Rodimus as the same person because of the WFC games naming Rodimus "Hot Shot", and ''that'' was due to both the name "Hot Rod" still being unavailable at that point in time and a desire by Hasbro to not call the game character "Rodimus" because, at that point in time in the game character's life, he wouldn't be named "Rodimus" yet and Hasbro wanted to tell the story of how he would become Rodimus later on (which they never did), so the name "Hot Shot" was used in the games as an alternative to "Hot Rod".
:::BUT, the unofficially published prose story "Bumblebee at Tyger Pax" had mentioned a character named "Rodimus" as a member of the Wreckers, but as mentioned, that story was unofficial. Still, as it was considered pseudocanon, it seems that the BotCon script reading tried to at least acknowledge the Wrecker Rodimus from that story by making the officially-named "Hot Shot" character (who, as I said, was considered the same guy as "Rodimus" back then) into a Wrecker, in order to weave things back together.
:::BUUUUUUUT, then the novel "Retribution" came out later and used the "Rodimus" name for the WFC guy after all, in spite of the previous notion of Hasbro wanting the character to not be named "Rodimus" yet. 'Course, by that point, the old Hasbro brand team was on its way out and being replaced by the new one that didn't take as much interest in the Aligned media as the previous team did, so the "Rodimus" thing didn't really matter much anymore.
:::So, at the end of it all, Prime Hot Shot and WFC Hot Shot (now definitively named "Rodimus" despite the games naming him "Hot Shot" for the reason previously given) were split out from each other as separate characters, and the events of "Bumblebee at Tyger Pax" got canonized by Ask Vector Prime, leaving us now with two different Aligned guys named "Hot Shot" and "Rodimus" who are both members of the Wreckers. ::::::It does seem odd that a Wrecker would be a new recruit to a non-combat unit and that he'd be recruited while playing school-yard games with his friends. However, there's currently no evidence one way or the other that it's a separate character. Since it can be neither confirmed nor denied officially, and they have the same name and (roughly) similar personalities, keeping them together is the most appropriate editing policy to follow. Lots of "obvious" situations have been proven otherwise in the past. For example, ''[[Transformers: War for Cybertron (games)|War for Cybertron]]'' was treated as G1, including by High Moon Studio. But Hasbro and later High Moon interviews official put it in the then newly announced [[Aligned continuity family]], disproving its "obvious" G1 nods. Well I check and at 7:15 he said that he was created as one https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7wik9d. But I’m not adding that back there because people will find out when they watch the episode and I feel that spoils the episode too much. That’s why I took it out. I still think he meant clone from. Wedge was originally a Decepticon, but [[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus Prime]] found him, and believed that he had so much potential as an Autobot. His kindness is what inspired Wedge to switch sides. {{storylink|More Than Meets The Eye (RBA)|More Than Meets The Eye}}

Wedge won a rescue competition to earn himself a spot studying at the [[Rescue Bot Training Center]] on [[Earth]]. He started an instant rivalry with Hot Shot when the latter was assigned to the team of new recruits by Optimus Prime. Once [[Hot Shot (Prime)|Hot Shot]] screwed up the first rescue drill, Wedge challenged him to a simple stacking contest and easily won. {{storylink|Recruits Part I}} Hot Shot went on to win an obstacle course race against Wedge and revealed that Optimus had given him the ability to use three alternate modes, though Wedge was still unimpressed, beliving it was the bot and not their abilities that made for a good rescuer. Nonetheless when Hot Shot later realized that the jet mode he was stuck with for the day was useless for the cave rescue exercise they'd been assigned, Wedge joined the others in encouraging him not to give up. {{storylink|Recruits Part II}} Wedge and the other recruits got to meet Blades when the copter-bot was brought in to help tutor Hot Shot in the art of flying, and later took part in a forest fire rescue. {{storylink|The Secret of Flight}}

Following a particularly tricky rescue, [[Hoist (RB)|Hoist]] constructed new tools for everyone, including power drivers for Wedge. The first test didn't go well, but Wedge and the others enlisted [[Boulder]] to give Hoist some encouragement and help perfect the tools. {{storylink|If at First...}} After Hot Shot was assigned to look after [[Tough Luck Chuck]] when the test robot was damaged, Wedge and [[Hoist (RB)|Hoist]] found Chuck roaming the training center. Aiming to get the response time of the group down, Wedge borrowed the trigger for the rescue alarm and ran a series of drills, annoying his fellow recruits and eventually resulting in him ending up trapped in one of the launch tubes. Though the other recruits thought he'd succumbed to lure of fame when he agreed to take part in the show, in reality he'd spotted the satellite in the middle of the arena and used the show as a way to get close enough to grab it. {{storylink|Dig Fest (episode)|Dig Fest}} Wedge's attempts to duplicate Bumblebee's heroic rescue feats in the simulator were less than successful. Determined to impress his hero, Wedge skipped out on the maintenance work Bumblebee was having them do and followed Bumblebee to Griffin Rock where he completely failed to achieve anything heroic. What's worse, without maintenance he suffered major failures during a later sim exercise and had to do the maintenance anyway. {{storylink|Bee Prepared}} When Whirl's failed attempts to do a maneuver led her to try to seek out the Wise One, the other recruits went after her and became trapped in a ravine, requiring her to rescue them using the maneuver she had been trying to perfect. {{storylink|Whirl's Wise-Bot Quest}} Wedge's conscientious recycling efforts were not duplicated by the other recruits, who simply threw all their recycling out. This resulted in a giant ball of junk threatening the satellite they were trying to fix and Wedge had to alter its course. Wedge and Medix were unsuccessful in directing a blindfolded Hot Shot through an obstacle course. A subsequent mission deep undersea forced the recruits to rely on each other as they rescued an automated drone from deep sea wildlife. {{storylink|Into the Depths}} Wedge was repairing roads with Hot Shot when the latter was distracted by dogs at a nearby farm. The pair were forced to mount a search when the dogs ran off as a result of Hoist's new comm system. {{storylink|Milford Goes To The Dogs}} The recruits struggled to complete a rescue sim until Hot Shot realized they'd been trying to stop the disaster instead of saving the people. {{storylink|The Ice Wave}}

As graduation drew closer, the recruits successful competed against their teachers in a relay race carrying a pretend rescue victim. When Hot Shot opted to abandon his Rescue Bot training and return to Cybertron to compete in the Cube finals, Wedge slipped a group picture of the recruits into his luggage. {{storylink|Best Bots Forever Part 1}} The remaining recruits decided to tune in to the final using the space bridge to boost the holo-emitter screen. Unfortunately this led to the creation of a slowly growing energon bubble which engulfed the academy. At the start of year two, the recruits returned to the Academy to find they'd been given personal spaces—Wedge got the outdoors gym—and were to be put through a series of tests so [[Ratchet (WFC)|Ratchet]]'s [[Aptitude Analyzer]] could assign them an appropriate mentor. Hot Shot sneaked out to do a rescue, and as a result, the rest of the recruits had to go help him when he hit trouble. {{storylink|Blame Game}} Wedge and the other recruits set up a surprise rescue mission for Medix, who didn't get the appeal of surprises. Though the other recruits thought he'd succumbed to lure of fame when he agreed to take part in the show, in reality he'd spotted the satellite in the middle of the arena and used the show as a way to get close enough to grab it. {{storylink|Dig Fest (episode)|Dig Fest}} Wedge's attempts to duplicate Bumblebee's heroic rescue feats in the simulator were less than successful. Wedge was equal parts thrilled and flustered when Bumblebee visited the academy for a teaching session. Determined to impress his hero, Wedge skipped out on the maintenance work Bumblebee was having them do and followed Bumblebee to Griffin Rock where he completely failed to achieve anything heroic. What's worse, without maintenance he suffered major failures during a later sim exercise and had to do the maintenance anyway. {{storylink|Bee Prepared}} When Whirl's failed attempts to do a maneuver led her to try to seek out the Wise One, the other recruits went after her and became trapped in a ravine, requiring her to rescue them using the maneuver she had been trying to perfect. {{storylink|Whirl's Wise-Bot Quest}} Wedge's conscientious recycling efforts were not duplicated by the other recruits, who simply threw all their recycling out. This resulted in a giant ball of junk threatening the satellite they were trying to fix and Wedge had to alter its course. Wedge and Medix were unsuccessful in directing a blindfolded Hot Shot through an obstacle course. A subsequent mission deep undersea forced the recruits to rely on each other as they rescued an automated drone from deep sea wildlife. {{storylink|Into the Depths}} Wedge was repairing roads with Hot Shot when the latter was distracted by dogs at a nearby farm. The pair were forced to mount a search when the dogs ran off as a result of Hoist's new comm system. {{storylink|Milford Goes To The Dogs}} The recruits struggled to complete a rescue sim until Hot Shot realized they'd been trying to stop the disaster instead of saving the people. {{storylink|The Ice Wave}}

As graduation drew closer, the recruits successful competed against their teachers in a relay race carrying a pretend rescue victim. When Hot Shot opted to abandon his Rescue Bot training and return to Cybertron to compete in the Cube finals, Wedge slipped a group picture of the recruits into his luggage. {{storylink|Best Bots Forever Part 1}} The remaining recruits decided to tune in to the final using the space bridge to boost the holo-emitter screen. Unfortunately this led to the creation of a slowly growing energon bubble which engulfed the academy. At the start of year two, the recruits returned to the Academy to find they'd been given personal spaces—Wedge got the outdoors gym—and were to be put through a series of tests so [[Ratchet (WFC)|Ratchet]]'s [[Aptitude Analyzer]] could assign them an appropriate mentor. Wedge got his hoped-for mentor when he was assigned Bumblebee. {{storylink|Back to School}} He and the other recruits got some new training simulations courtesy of Ratchet. {{Storylink|Mission Dinobot}} Wedge enjoyed his time adventure training with Bumblebee very much. When Heatwave tasked the recruits with acting in the play [[Jack and the Beanstalk]], Wedge was less than enthusiastic, especially when he was assigned the role of the goose. After being mocked by a squirrel and missing out out on a Cube match thanks to the play, Wedge faked an injury to get out of it, but later realized the squirrel had actually been trying to warn him about the unstable stage. He was thus able to warn the others about the stage's imminent collapse in time. {{storylink|Acting Out}} Wedge was bored with studying math and science, and so was glad for the opportunity to go on a space mission with Bumblebee to rescue some rock creatures from a meteor storm. My bad. I meant to say that I don’t believe that Wedge was born before the war. I believe that he was born during the war, but didn’t fought or after the war. It isn’t impossible to think that he’s a post war bot. I mean maybe being born as a decepticon meant being built by one or raise by one. Cyclonus was trying to bring the decepticons back, so he maybe influences a bunch of new young bots. I do believe that Wedge could be a war born bot just as much he could be post war one. But I can’t believe him being a prewar one. He just never come off that old to me. We know that he is not an adult thanks to season 2 episode 18. And the director of RBA states that they are 14-15 in human years, so they aren’t adults. Then again they could have a long “childhood.” But I doubt it would last for several million years. Actually according the ask victor prime, Wedge was born during the time of Cyclonus reign in Robots In Disguise. So although he is much older then the rest of the recruits, he is still a post war bot.
