'''The Transformers of the 19th century must contend with the Elder Gods.'''

==Synopsis==
[[File:BumblebeestreetcarbodyInfestation2-1.jpeg|thumb|left|upright=1.3]]
Underwater in the [[Great Banks]] by the [[Flemish Cap]] in the [[Atlantic Ocean]] in [[1887]], the [[Seacon (G1)|Seacons]] lay silent and waiting. They are activated by a race of [[fish people]], who bring the [[Decepticon]]s to their unearthly city.

[[1888|A year later]], the [[USS Miskatonic|''Miskatonic'']] is traveling to [[Ireland]] when it is attacked by a tentacled and underwater menace. [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]], who has been hidden aboard the ship, jumps into the water, realizing the creature as an alien lifeform, and swims to the other [[Autobot]]s to warn them.

One week later, in [[San Francisco]], the married [[Tobias Muldoon|Tobias]] and [[Kitty Merriweather|Kitty Muldoon]] are walking down a street with their two children when [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]], now with a new trolley mode, approaches them. With the invasion of the [[Elder God]]s, Bumblebee needs Tobias's help again. What he needs is 1,000,000 watts of electricity. Muldoon makes it to [[Edison Machine Works]] in [[Schenectady]], [[New York (state)|New York]], a week later, but is refused the absurd amount of electricity by [[Thomas Edison]] himself. One of his workers, [[Nikola Tesla]], finds the prospect intriguing and offers his assistance.

Elsewhere, in [[Port Cenotaph]], [[Nova Scotia]], the fish people surface in the thousands. Hidden underwater, Ironhide observes them, but runs into [[Bonecrusher (G1)|Bonecrusher]], who has been pulled into the Elder Gods' servitude. Despite some fight, Ironhide succumbs to Bonecrusher's tentacles.

Two days later, Tesla and Muldoon are on a train in [[Quebec]] to [[Sant Felicien]]. Tesla finds the train strange, as it has not stopped for fuel and it is absent of crew. Tesla finds out the secret when the rail ends in [[Ivujivik]], [[Ontario]], and the components of the train reveal themselves to be the [[Autobot]]s [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailblazer]], [[Hound (G1)|Hound]], and [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]]. The Autobots travel on foot while the [[human]]s ride in the comforts of [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]]'s vehicle mode.

In Port Cenotaph, a boat's two-man crew discover that the city's populace has been changed, and that it is haunted by gigantic robots. Tentacles emerge from the water and pull the boat underwater.

On the north slope of the [[Mare Rurek Glacier]], the Autobots and the humans find what they have been seeking—the Autobot leader, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]!
'''The rejuvenated Optimus Prime must fight back the summoned Elder God.'''

==Synopsis==
In the North [[Atlantic Ocean|Atlantic]], the British [[HMS Indomitable|HMS ''Indomitable'']] finds a wayward lifeboat from the [[USS Miskatonic|''Miskatonic'']], an American ship gone missing a month ago. Inside, they discover a frightful sight: members of the ships crew, dead of fright. In [[Port Cenotaph]], [[Nova Scotia]], the [[human]]s and the [[Decepticon]]s under the thrall of the [[Elder God]]s make preparations to summon their ancient master, who emerges from the abyss of the ocean in response to his devoted followers' call.

On the [[Mare Rurek Glacier]], [[Nikola Tesla]] reveals his ingenious invention, the [[Tesla tower]], that can draw energy from the electromagnetic field in the ionosphere. However, circumstances force him to use a substitute: a balloon. [[Tobias Muldoon]] is concerned at all the theory and no application, but Tesla is confident. The process requires a charge to be built in the balloon, so [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] donates all of his energy for the cause. When this proves not enough, the rest of the Autobots line up to give their energies for the greater good.

After losing their ships in unexplained circumstances, the countries of the [[United Kingdom]], the United States, [[France]], and [[Germany]] send ships to investigate. They all assemble into an international fleet and push forward into the waters of the town of Port Cenotaph, which has not communicated with the outside world for weeks.

With all of the Autobots down, Tobias and Nikola are left freezing, but neither has the heart to blame the other for the situation. Just in time, Optimus Prime awakens, and asks what year it is and what has become of the Autobots. He willingly gives up his [[energon]] reserves for his fallen soldiers and asks just what threat necessitated his urgent activation.

In Port Cenotaph, the international fleet finds itself in battle with the town's Decepticon guardians, managing to down [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]]. However, the Elder God rises and sets upon destroying the fleet with his [[fish people]] servants. On land, the god's Transformer servants—including [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]]—simply silently watch. They are soon beset upon by Optimus Prime, who urges his old soldier to resist the Elder God's infestation. While [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailblazer]] and [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] occupy Ironhide's attention, Optimus Prime races off to the Elder God, assuming that its defeat will release the beings under its thrall. With his saws, the Autobot slices off the Elder God's tentacles and damages it enough to send it sinking back to whence it came. The fish-men follow their master to the depths, and the god's hold on the Transformers and the humans is released. Optimus Prime cannot say that the creature is truly dead, but promises that if it ever returns, the Autobots will be there to again defend against it. After the Autobots depart, Tobias and Nikola are held up by British soldiers, who suspect them to be fish people. When the two deny the claim and assure that they are only scientists, the captain asks if they can explain just what the hell went on there. They coyly admit they cannot.
==Synopsis==
[[File:The Final Battle Optimusdeceps.jpg|left|upright=1.1|thumb|Avon calling!]]
[[Megatron (RID)|Galvatron]] gloats to the Autobots that with the power of Fortress Maximus he is unstoppable. As they hang helpless in the air, he first shocks and then drops them all to the ground. [[Side Burn (RID)|Side Burn]] drags himself to the edge of a huge crater, at the bottom of which [[Optimus Prime (RID)|Optimus Prime]] lays battered. As Optimus struggles up, [[Scourge (RID)|Scourge]] and [[Ruination (RID)|Ruination]] burst through the crater wall and open fire on the Autobot leader. [[Sky-Byte (RID)|Sky-Byte]] and the Predacon trio peer cautiously out of the hole as well, worrying what Galvatron will do to them if he spots them. Unfortunately for them, Galvatron already ''has'' spotted them, and orders them to attack the Autobots. Figuring that Galvatron will always be the scarier of the two options, the four Predacons get ready to fight, and are promptly trampled by the oncoming forces.

[[File:The Final Battle Galvatronautobots.jpg|right|upright=1.1|thumb|"You guys always use Pikachu! Use Kirby or something this time!"]]
The Autobots come to Optimus Prime's aid, hailing the Decepticons with a barrage of weapons fire. High above the battlefield, Galvatron laughs and seizes them all in an energy field. [[T-AI (RID)|T-AI]] opens a portal to the space bridge nearby, but Optimus is seized by a beam from Galvatron. He orders his men to enter the space bridge, but they block the beam of energy, freeing him. Though Optimus stubbornly refuses to go, he's grabbed by [[Ultra Magnus (RID)|Ultra Magnus]] and carried off.

[[File:The Final Battle Fortressmaximus.jpg|left|upright=1.1|thumb|meh]]
In the space bridge, Optimus persuades Magnus to help him return to the battle. They form [[Omega Prime]] and challenge Galvatron to a one-on-one fight. Galvatron follows Omega into the space bridge, where Omega instructs T-AI to open portals to the Earth's molten core and close them once he and Galvatron have gone through. T-AI and [[Koji Onishi|Koji]] protest that that will trap the pair of them, but Omega makes it a direct order. Koji, however, has a brainwave and begins contacting other children over the Internet.

[[File:The Final Battle Omegagalvatron.jpg|right|upright=1.1|thumb|Hey, I said a ''little'' off the top.]]
Omega Prime leads Galvatron to the [[Earth's core]], but his strength is quickly sapped by the conditions while Galvatron thrives. Koji's plan begins to work and Fortress Maximus becomes re-energised with the power sent to him by all of the children. Galvatron boasts that he has discovered a great power—the world's children—which he intends to harness. He's interrupted by the arrival of a massive burst of energy passed on by Fortress Maximus, which re-powers Omega Prime and creates the mighty [[Matrix Blade]]. The pair clash violently until Galvatron's [[Striker Lance]] shatters, and an immense explosion lights up the sky. T-AI cries that while Omega may have won, he's still trapped.

Sometime later, Koji sadly looks around the parking building where the Autobot base is located, commenting that the place seems deserted. As he trudges down the road, a fire engine pulls up behind him—it's Optimus Prime. Optimus tells Koji that they'll be going back to Cybertron soon, but first they're going to have a last look around. Optimus got free because the sheer force of the blast that deactivated Galvatron reactivated the space bridge and freed him. Sure enough, the Autobots are all engaging in their usual leisure activities. Fortress Maximus and Ultra Magnus are taking the Decepticons and Predacons back to Cybertron—all except Sky-Byte, who cheerfully swims off into the sunset.

"I know! If we retreat, Galvatron will destroy us, and if we fight, we don't stand a chance. What do we do?!"<br>
All of us have to work together to protect the Earth! It's up to us now, guys. Galvatron's trying to steal our world and our future, but we're not gonna let him! ==Notes==
===Differences with ''Car Robots''===
*''Robots in Disguise'' adds a "previously on Transformers" recap to the start of the episode.
*As Galvatron levitates and drops the Autobots, ''Car Robots'' specifically notes that he is manipulating Earth's gravity, one of the abilities he now possesses after his recent power-boost.
*As Sky-Byte and the Predacons observe Optimus and the Decepticons' battle, in ''Car Robots'', his dialogue is an annoyed observation that Scourge is still willing to fight for Galvatron, while in ''Robots in Disgise'', he merely notes that the Decepticons have survived their magma bath and that Optimus has been weakened by Galvatron.
*In response to the other Predacons' suggestion that they should get out there and do something, ''Car Robots'' has Sky-Byte decide to wait and watch, then strike the final blow when their enemies are weak, while in ''Robots in Disgise'', he refuses to go since Galvatron thinks the Predacons have been scrapped and he's worried about him finding out they're still alive (but see "Continuity errors", below). The Predacons' "wild take" reaction is played as frustration over the cheap move in ''Car Robots'', but as real fear of Galvatron in ''Robots in Disgise''; when trying to decide what to do after Galvatron orders them into action, "fear of Galvatron" is also their big motivator in the English version.
*As all the Autobots open fire on the Decepticons, ''Robots in Disguise'' goes to commercial break. When it returns, it re-establishes the scene by inserting some footage of Galvatron descending out of the sky above the Autobots, which was part of the shot after next in ''Car Robots''. In ''Robots in Disguise'', the dialogue plays as Galvatron having a battlefield back-and-forth with X-Brawn, where in ''Car Robots'' he is merely speaking to himself, then addressing the Autobots at large.
*''Robots in Disgise'' slightly extends the shot of T-AI as she sets the space bridge to open near the Autobots.
*When the Autobots all say their piece to encourage Optimus Prime to leave them, Side Burn's speech is much the same as his comrades' in ''Robots in Disguise''. In ''Car Robots'', however, he is not actually speaking to Optimus: he's calling out to Ultra Magnus, asking him to take Optimus away, and in-keeping with the friendship the two characters have in the Japanese verison, "Mag-chan" (as Side Burn calls him) then comes swooping in.
*As Galvatron and Side Burn talk after Optimus and Magnus leave, ''Car Robots'' includes specific mention of Galvatron's intention to "manipulate the children of Earth", setting up for later revelations.
*Magnus and Optimus's talk in the space bridge is a little more fatalistic in ''Car Robots'', as Optimus tells his brother that he's not sure if they'll be able to return to Cybertron after the fight (read: survive), but that they must fight with the strongest power they have. In ''Robots in Disguise'', the conversation is reworked to be more personal, about Optimus and Magnus's issues, and how they must set them aside.
*As the cyber-bats attack Side Burn, he hurls insults at Galvatron through the pain in ''Robots in Disguise'', while in ''Car Robots'', his cries are those of a 'bot who knows he's about to die, as he calls out to Optimus and Magnus (in the abstract, as they're not standing there yet) to let them know that he leaves the fight up to them.
*In ''Car Robots'', Optimus chooses the Earth's core as his and Galvatron's battleground because he believes the {{w|supergravity}} there will impede his movements. In ''Robots in Disguise'', he intends to trap him there by having T-AI shut the space bridge, which isn't part of ''Car Robots''—however, see "Continuity errors", below.
*''Robots in Disguise'' extends Koji's furious keyboard-tapping scene by a couple of seconds, repeating a few pieces of footage.
*When Optimus and Galvatron arrive at the Earth's core, their conversation in ''Car Robots'' involves Galvatron realizing what Optimus's plan had been, and then revealing that he is too powerful for even the supergravity to affect him. This is totally changed for ''Robots in Disguise'', as Galvatron instead threatens Optimus with the fact he intends to capture Koji when he is done with Prime, and use the boy to gain access to the rest of Earth's children.
*As Optimus and Galvatron's battle continues, ''Car Robots'' has Galvatron finally reveal his true motivations, and his reason for seeking control of Earth's children. Transformers, he explains, are functionally immortal, but this also means that they are personally, spiritually, unchanging: they will always be who and what they are, tied to a certain destiny. By seizing control of the "pure spirits" of the children of Earth, who possess the power to decide the future, Galvatron hopes to change his ''own'' future, and free himself from the shackles of fate. In ''Robots in Disgise'' much of this exchange is replaced with generic battle dialogue until the end, at which point Galvatron does reveal that he wants to control the children of Earth, but in the English version, it's in order to "warp their minds" so that their fundamental belief in the triumph of good over evil will be altered. It's still about abusing their goodness and purity to achieve victory for himself by altering a fundamental force of life, but ''Robots in Disguise'' is more "mwa-ha-ha supervillain" than ''Car Robots'' and its sudden turn for the philosophical.
*Given the change to ''Robots in Disguise'', the way the scene keeps cutting from Galvatron and Optimus to Fortress Maximus loses its impact, as the ''entire scene'' is about the power and purity of children in Japanese, with the incredible feat their power is accomplishing for Maximus serving to parallel Galvatron's words. In ''Robots in Disgise'', Maximus keeps up his robotic monotone voice throughout, but in ''Car Robots'', even he is awed by the incredible power of the children.
*Both ''Robots in Disguise'' and ''Car Robots'' have Omega point out that the power Galvatron sought is what will bring about his defeat, but ''Car Robots'' ''really'' goes for it: where ''Robots in Disguise'' uses mostly generic battle dialogue once the fight has resumed ("You're going down!" "We'll see about that", etc), ''Car Robots'' has Prime and Galvatron continually talk about the power, and how it will always protect Earth against any enemy.
*In-keeping with the earlier plot change, ''Robots in Disguise'' simply has Omega Prime be "trapped" at the Earth's core, while ''Car Robots'' wordlessly implies he has perished. When he returns in the epilogue, ''Robots in Disguise'' inserts an explanation for how he escaped (the energy released by Galvatron re-opened the bridge), but that's not necessary for ''Car Robots''.
*In the ''Robots in Disguise'' version of the epilogue, Optimus Prime says the Autobots are going back to Cybertron soon, but in ''Car Robots'', they're all planning to stay on Earth.
*''Robots in Disguise'' adds a dissolve between the shot of Koji in Prime's cab and that of Fortress Maximus flying through space.
*Right after that, in ''Car Robots'', the head-on shot of Maximus dissolves to an empty black spacefield, into which Galvtron's "Phantom Zone" prison floats. This is edited minutely for ''Robots in Disguise'', as the prison comes floating in ''during'' the fade, instead of after it has finished.
*In ''Robots in Disguise'', all of the Predacon trio's dialogue is given over to them realizing Sky-Byte is not with them. In ''Car Robots'', they are mostly complaining about their cramped prison quarters, with only Gas Skunk observing Sky-Byte's absence.
*''Robots in Disguise'' speeds up the last second or two of the "Phantom Zone" sequence, as the last plate floats off and the four twinkles appear in the distance.
*And lastly! ''Car Robots'' superimposes a "THE END" caption (in Japanese, of course) over the freeze-frame of the leaping Sky-Byte.

===Continuity errors===
* After being absent for the entire previous episode, Skid-Z, Tow-Line and the Spy Changers are all back.
* Sky-Byte suggests to the Predacon Trio that Galvatron thinks that he's gotten rid of them already and will react badly to seeing them still alive; however, Galvatron has no reason to think the Predacon Trio dead, and never showed any actual intention of killing any of them anyway.
* The whereabouts of Scourge and the Decepticons is fairly unclear for most of this finale; they're last seen being fired upon by the Autobots when Galvatron intervenes, and are not seen again until the epilogue, where we're told that they were captured.
* At the start of the episode, Optimus is in battle mode. After hitting the ground (and causing a sizable crater), he's back in regular old Optimus mode. [[Combat Deck (G1)|Where did his trailer go?]]
* Omega instructs T-AI to shut the space bridge behind him to trap Galvatron at the Earth's core, and she's obviously supposed to have done so, as she's tearful over the fact Omega has been trapped despite Galvatron's defeat, and Optimus has to offer Koji an explanation for how the bridge re-opened in the epilogue. This wasn't part of the ''Car Robots'' version of the episode, so there's a big fat problem with that: Fortress Maximus was able to send the children's energy through the blatantly-still-open space bridge to Prime. And even if it ''was'' closed... why couldn't she just open it again?

===Transformers references===
* When things are looking their bleakest, the self-sacrificing Omega Prime makes the decision to seal himself and Galvatron in the Earth's core, giving his life to save the planet. It doesn't come to that in the end, but if it had, [[The many deaths of Optimus Prime|it wouldn't exactly be without precedent]].
* As in "[[The Decepticons]]", the word "Cybertron" is used as a synonym for an inhabitant of the planet Cybertron. This is a reference to the Japanese name of the Autobots, and was also used in ''[[Beast Wars: Transformers (cartoon)|Beast Wars]]''.

===Real-world references===
* The depiction of the Predacons' and Decepticons' final imprisonment inside flat, rotating crystals seems to owe an awful lot to ''[[Superman]]''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s Phantom Zone from the [[Wikipedia:Superman (film)|1978 film]].

===Trivia===
[[File:The Final Battle Maximusmagnus.jpg|right|upright=1.1|thumb|Car surfing, Cybertron style]]
* Despite the comprehensiveness of its approach to the story's characters and loose ends, the epilogue declines to make any mention of Ultra Magnus in dialogue. His fate is not unknown, though—he apparently took the Predacons and Decepticons into custody, as he can (just about) be spotted standing on the hull of Fortress Maximus as the battleship flies through space.
* Fortress Maximus either has an e-mail address, or a membership to a Social Networking site that allows him to interact with concerned children on a massive scale.
==Synopsis==

[['Til all are one]].
"I know! If we retreat, Galvatron will destroy us, and if we fight, we don't stand a chance. What do we do?!"<br>
"Go ahead, Galvatron, and do your worst. It doesn't matter! You're not gonna beat us, no matter what you do, because you're a poser, Galvatron. Always have been, always will be!"
:—'''Side Burn''' cuts Galvatron bad.
"Mayday, mayday! The Autobots need our help. We've got to re-energize Fortress Maximus. We've got to send him energy from all over the world, from as many kids as we can contact in order to give him enough power to re-activate. Call every friend you've got! All of us have to work together to protect the Earth! It's up to us now, guys. Galvatron's trying to steal our world and our future, but we're not gonna let him! We were able to activate Fortress Maximus before, and now we're gonna do it again. We've got to!"
==Notes==
===Differences with ''Car Robots''===

===Continuity errors===
* Somehow, Koji is now able to hold TA-I's arm, even though she's a hologram.

===Transformers references===

===Real-world references===

===Trivia===
