Kenji and the Autobots visit an island utopia under siege by the Decepticons and their most menacing threat yet: Trypticon!

Synopsis
With his summer vacation coming to a close, Kenji joins Hound, Perceptor and Seaspray on a trip to a hidden island utopia, where they plan to meet up with several other Autobots. When Kenji arrives, he's astonished at how all the different animals, including lions, koalas, elephants and pandas, get along without fighting. Kenji asks the Autobots to help the utopia stay perfect.

Seconds later, the Autobots are startled by a stampede. They follow the stampede to its source, discovering that Blaster and the other Autobots have been taken prisoner by the Constructicons, who are ruining the utopia. Seaspray demands satisfaction, but Kenji orders him to yield and instead uses his wrist-communicator to contact Scramble City.

Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus receive his distress signal and prepare a back-up party. Optimus orders all the Aerialbots into action, save for Slingshot, as he believes his violent nature might do harm to the animals. So First Aid is sent in his place, much to Slingshot's chagrin.

Back at the utopia, Megatron declares that the island will be the perfect place for his new fortress, Dinobase. Starscream agrees that they will be impervious to attack once Dinobase sets up shop, so he asks Megatron to hurry up and summon it forth. He does so, and Dinobase arrives in the form of Trypticon, who bursts out of the mountainside.

Before Trypticon can transform into Dinobase and become impenetrable, Superion arrives. Megatron is not pleased and orders the Constructicons to merge into Devastator and crush him. Trypticon does not wish to share Superion with his creators and proceeds to pluck up Devastator between two of his claws and hurl the disgruntled combiner into the ocean. As Superion uses his body as a shield to protect the animals, Trypticon raises his foot and prepares to stomp on him.

Before Trypticon can deliver the finishing blow, he is met by a new warrior: Metroplex! Trypticon has never met Metroplex before and is a little hesitant about fighting him. Seeing an opening, Superion launches Air Raid, who taunts Trypticon and goads him into battle. Enraged, Trypticon charges Metroplex, only to pass right through him, off a cliffside and into the ocean, where he explodes.

As it turns out, Hound created a hologram of Metroplex and then had Perceptor enlarge it and project it onto the cliffside with his microscope mode. Megatron orders a retreat, leaving the Constructicons behind to fend for themselves. They attempt to tiptoe away before anybody notices them, but the Autobots don't fall for it. The Autobots then put the Constructicons to work, rebuilding the utopia to its former beauty—work which they find utterly demeaning and humiliating.
Kenji's tour of the Autobots' Japanese Subdivision is cut short when Megatron, Starscream and Blitzwing attack. Only Ultra Magnus can provide the means to defeat the Super Megatron Gun.

Synopsis
In Japan, Optimus Prime is giving Kenji a tour of the Autobots' Japanese Subdivision. As Optimus explains, the Autobots are busy building sub-bases all over the world, masked by human-operated secret entrances such as parking garages. All the bases are connected by an underground highway called the Autobot Road, allowing the Autobots to get from one end of the planet to the other in no time flat. Optimus gives credit to the founder of the Autobot Road, Ultra Magnus, whom he announces is currently en route with new equipment for installation.

Meanwhile, Tracks whispers to Kenji that Prime treats Magnus like his "kid brother", and much giggling ensues. Before they can giggle any longer, Ratchet reports a Decepticon disturbance in Yokohama.

It is a disturbing disturbance indeed, as the Autobots stationed there are getting wrecked by Starscream, Blitzwing and Megatron in his newest form, the "Super Megatron Gun" (basically, his pistol mode, only not shrunken down to handheld size). The fight goes poorly, as Warpath gets crunched beneath Blitzwing's treads and Optimus Prime is blasted into uselessness as soon as he arrives on the scene.

Things begin to look bad until City Commander Ultra Magnus arrives carrying Prime's trailer, full of equipment. Prime shakes off his injuries and helps Magnus fire their newest weapon, the Scramble Power Buster. The giant gun knocks Megatron back into robot mode, enraging him. Megatron orders Starscream and Blitzwing to transform to jet mode and defeat the Autobots from the sky. Starscream and Blitzwing destroy the Scramble Power Buster and divebomb the Autobots.

Decepticon victory seems assured until Tracks and Kenji take to the skies. Blitzwing and Starscream follow Tracks, but the Autobot's superior maneuvering allows him to trick the pair of jets into crashing head-first into an unsuspecting Megatron. Seeing an opening, Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus get the last word in with their special move, the "Prime-Magnus Double Cross Kick". Kenji and the Autobots celebrate another victory as a mangled Warpath tries not to pass out.
Notes
* This issue takes place before the "Scramble City: Mobilization" OVA.
* Ever wonder how the Autobots managed to drive from the American Midwest to any continent on the globe in a handful of minutes? The Autobot Road provides the answer, acting as a convenient means to explain away this oddity from the cartoon. The Autobot Road would go on to inspire the Global Space Bridge in the 2001 Robots in Disguise cartoon series.
* The dozens of vehicles seen traversing the secret and exclusive Autobot Road mean either one of two things: There are a metric ton of Autobots on Earth that we never knew about, or select humans are permitted to use the road.
* This is the first canonical instance in which Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus are implied to have a brotherly relationship.
* This issue features one of the rare instances in which Megatron is shown transforming into his gun mode without doing any mass-shifting.
* In the Viz translation of the manga, Kenji refers to Tracks as "Trucks". Unless he is using it as a collective noun for Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus, who are nearby.
