For '''Frenzy''' it's not about any "Decepticon cause," it's not about any quantifiable cause, or goal, or purpose at all. It's about violence, fear, destruction, and mayhem. Frenzy lives to fight. He lusts to destroy with an intensity that borders on insanity. War is his fuel, his oxygen. Despite his small stature he'll lead a charge into battle against robots many times his size, screaming for destruction with every microchip of his being. This single-minded obsession makes him a hard bot to associate with personally, but a frightening asset on the battlefield. His partner and [[Relatives|brother]], [[Rumble (G1)|Rumble]], is only too eager to back him up.

Frenzy's manic attack style and his "battle cry" (a sonic attack produced by special drums in his torso that can severely disrupt electrical flows, resulting in all sorts of mechanical malfunctions and balance issues) make him difficult to get close to in combat, but cool and measured reaction to his wild ragings is usually the most effective strategy.

When the crew of the [[Nemesis (G1)|Nemesis]] boarded the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] four million years ago, Frenzy was among the warriors who took the fight to the Autobots. Their battle was interrupted when [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Optimus Prime]] threw that fateful switch and crashed the ship into the planet below, leaving all on board inactive until the volcano they crashed into exploded in 1984, shaking the repair systems back online. Frenzy and the other Decepticons abandoned the Ark immediately, and began making plans to claim the planet's vast resources. They began by disassembling a nuclear power plant as raw materials for a vast fortress on an Oregon cliffside. {{storylink|Power Play!}} They then kidnapped a local mechanic (and potential friend of the Autobots) named [[Sparkplug Witwicky]] to devise a method of transforming Earth fuel into a form they could properly intake. The Autobots came to rescue their friend, and so [[Rumble (G1)|Rumble]] and Frenzy confronted the enemy. Rumble attempted to disable their foes with some seismic tremors, but the burly [[Brawn (G1)|Brawn]] fought through the shaky ground to punch out the "junk punk" Decepticon. Enraged, Frenzy used a sonic blast to disable the Autobot, and carried his brother back to the fortress for repairs. On the way, though, they encountered [[Gears (G1)|Gears]] and [[Spider-Man]] infiltrating the base, and were tripped up by some webbing, taking them out of action. {{storylink|Prisoner of War!}}

Frenzy and Rumble were repaired several days later, after [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] arrived and took control of the Decepticons from [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]. {{storylink|The New Order}} Though he didn't particularly care which master he had to serve, Frenzy was still a robot of action. Shockwave's slow and methodical approach to conquest grated on Frenzy's nerves and, after several days of inaction in a hastily-occupied [[Blackrock]] aerospace plant, Frenzy was climbing the walls. He threw a temper tantrum in front of their human slaves after overhearing on the news that [[G.B. Blackrock]] had designed a new "anti-robot cannon" to take back his plant. Shockwave nearly bit his head off for the insubordination (or rather, he would've had [[Buzzsaw (G1)|Buzzsaw]] do it), but [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] stepped in and suggested a day out for mayhem and carnage would be good for troop morale. However, their attack on Blackrock was interrupted not only by [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]] and [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] (who had recently made a protection deal with the business magnate in exchange for fuel), but also the neophyte robot hunter named [[Circuit Breaker]]. It got a little confusing to be a low-ranking Decepticon for a few months after that. Shockwave was tossed into a bog by Optimus Prime, and ''[[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]] briefly took command before'' Megatron returned as well. This led into a period where Soundwave, the cassettes, and [[Seeker (body-type)|Seekers]] would sometimes serve Shockwave, and other times Megatron, often without even informing the respective commanders that they were pulling "double shifts". ''Frenzy in particular got the short end of the stick when he was ordered to accompany Shockwave to the Decepticon's old fortress. Supposedly their mission was "salvage", but Frenzy clearly saw Shockwave was on edge because of Megatron's rumored return. Frenzy was sick of dealing with this balancing act, and really wanted a chance to hit something. He was given a chance, because [[Buster Witwicky (G1)|Buster Witwicky]] was also spoiling for a fight. The young human had been given a robot suit by Wheeljack and [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] so that he could protect himself. Looking for a chance to prove himself after Prime tried to shut down the project, Buster came to the old fortress and spotted Frenzy. He shot the Decepticon in the back, but even the littlest Decepticon could easily shrug off Buster's onboard weaponry. Only by employing an echo cell Wheeljack had installed did Buster survive, reflecting Frenzy's own sonic power back at him. Still, that HAD to be humiliating. {{storylink|Robot Buster!}}''

On a subsequent mission, Frenzy accompanied Megatron and several others in an attack on the unguarded Ark. Unfortunately, they ran into the Autobots' new defense system, by the name of [[Omega Supreme (G1)|Omega Supreme]]. Frenzy was one of a half dozen Decepticons who didn't walk away from that fight, and was taken prisoner by the Autobots for an extended period of time. {{storylink|Command Performances!}} He was eventually recovered by the Constructicons who, under [[Ratbat (G1)|Ratbat]]'s orders, used a major Decepticon assault on the Autobots as cover to sneak aboard the Ark and retrieve their fallen comrades. {{storylink|Totaled!}}

Frenzy's revival did him little good, however, as he remained largely unheard from for the next few years.

Like most Decepticons, Frenzy was among [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]]'s warriors until Megatron resumed command of the Decepticons. He was part of the team assigned to revive and rebuild [[Darkwing]], who had been all but destroyed by Megatron while defending Bludgeon. {{storylink|Tales of Earth Part Three|The Gathering Darkness}} He was on the Warworld's bridge when [[Jhiaxus (G2)|Jhiaxus]]'s forces attacked and reported to Soundwave that the combat sequencers had been disabled. {{storylink|Total War!}} He apparently took an escape pod down to the surface, because he was seen on Earth during the fight with the [[Swarm (G2)|Swarm]]. In final combat, Wheeljack cooked up a way to supercharge Frenzy's sonic powers and fend off their attacker. Frenzy first saw duty on Earth shortly after [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] was pulled into [[Earth]]'s orbit. He was performing some menial work in the Decepticons' base, and voiced his discontent with the workload, requesting [[Skywarp (G1)|Skywarp]]'s job instead. When Skywarp stomped on Frenzy in return, Frenzy threw the [[Seeker (body-type)|Seeker]] into a wall, where he was pummeled in the face by [[Rumble (G1)|Rumble]]. {{storylink|Countdown to Extinction (episode)|Countdown to Extinction}}

Frenzy proceeded to accompany Rumble upon occasion during missions. He also traded in his "battle cry" for a pair of piledrivers exactly like Rumble's, and talked practically the same way. The two of them were part of [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]'s attack on [[New York City|New York]], where they faced off against a group of Autobots in Central Park. Frenzy later tried to ram a train into [[Bluestreak]] and [[Hound (G1)|Hound]], but his vehicle was blown apart before he reached them. {{storylink|City of Steel}}

Megatron would later take Frenzy and Rumble with him to help take control of a fleet of oil tankers by using circuit linker cards connected to [[TORQ III]]. Frenzy was then assigned to defend the [[force field]] generator around the oil platform where the Decepticons were emptying the tankers, but failed in this task when he was distracted by [[Jetfire (G1)|Skyfire]] taunting him, letting [[Hound (G1)|Hound]] sneak up and destroy the generator. {{storylink|Day of the Machines}}

Frenzy took part in the Decepticon attack to steal the human-built ninja robot [[Nightbird (G1)|Nightbird]], raining rapid-fire laser death down on the humans while Rumble used his pile drivers to shake things up. {{storylink|Enter the Nightbird}}

Frenzy and Rumble later accompanied Soundwave on a mission to secure the [[Negavator]] for the Decepticons. They failed, but not before A.) Frenzy single-handedly tackled [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] and B.) Rumble nearly disintegrated him with that oh so indiscriminate Negavator. In 2005, Frenzy was involved in the assault on [[Autobot City]]. He joined Rumble, Ratbat and [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]] in preventing [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]]'s distress call to the Moonbases. After swarming over Blaster and [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] like [[scraplet]]s, however, Blaster unleashed his [[Mini-Cassette]]s to even the score, and Frenzy got into a fistfight with [[Eject]].

After Megatron was defeated, the Decepticons fled Earth aboard [[Astrotrain (G1)|Astrotrain]] and [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] tossed their injured commander into space, a fight for control of the army broke out. Soundwave called the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicons]] inferior, [[Hook (G1)|Hook]] called him uncrazamatic and, well... it got ugly. Rumble and Frenzy popped out just as the Constructicons began to merge into [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]] (slag, Astrotrain is roomy) and turned their piledrivers on the floor to upset their combination ritual (slag, Astrotrain is sturdy). In the late 1980s, the Decepticons tried to frame the Autobots for attacking Earth by giving the [[Stunticon (G1)|Stunticons]] fake sigils and sending them on a mayhem spree. Dressed in snazzy robes to hide their identities, Frenzy and Rumble then began fanning the flames by preaching openly against the Autobots in human cities. Their cover was blown, however, when [[Inferno (G1)|Inferno]] and [[Hot Spot (G1)|Hot Spot]] washed the fake insignia off the Decepticons. In the late 1990s, Starscream forged a clandestine alliance with the Prime Minister of [[Japan]], promising that the country would be safe from attack by the Decepticons if they were allowed to freely and harmlessly collect energy within its borders, in secret from the rest of the world. Naturally, however, Starscream had no intention of actually honoring this agreement, and sent Frenzy and Rumble to the bottom of the sub-oceanic [[Pacific Ring of Fire|Japan Trench]], where they used their piledrivers to stimulate the tectonic plates of the trench and cause small earthquakes throughout Japan. As Starscream predicted, the quakes supplied massive amounts of energy for the Decepticons to gather, but were perceived as natural occurrences by the populace. Megatron was not impressed by the scheme, however, suspecting the Autobots would soon realize the truth... and he was, of course, completely right. When Optimus Prime and a team of Autobots arrived to investigate and caught the Decepticons in the act, Megatron had Frenzy and Rumble kick things into overdrive, causing a catastrophic quake that devastated Tokyo and covered the Decepticons' escape. The quake was so powerful that it actually threatened to sink the entire island of Japan, but before that could come to pass, Hound confronted Frenzy and Rumble and overpowered them by confusing them with his holograms. {{storylink|Activation}}

In the year 2011, when Soundwave was destroyed in battle with Blaster, Frenzy and all the other cassettes gathered on [[Chaar]] to watch as the Decepticon [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmaster]] leader [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] used the super-technology of the planet [[Master (planet)|Master]] to resurrect their master as Soundblaster. The cassette team then helped to defend Soundblaster when he was focused on using a sonic control to remotely direct the actions of the Decepticons' new [[Madmachine]], but Blaster—now reborn as Twincast—was able to get past them and stop his rival. {{storylink|The Great Cassette Operation}}

The arrival of Scorponok's new information officer, [[Punch (G1)|Counterpunch]], put Soundblaster in a bad mood, as he had the ability to dredge up Autobot info that even Soundblaster and his expert team of spies could not. When the Decepticons were finally forced off Earth, Soundblaster and his cassettes stayed behind on the planet to gather information. Frenzy was one of the earliest recruits into Megatron's Decepticons over nine million years ago, apparently associated with Soundwave and his "Cassetticons" from the very beginning. Frenzy was [[FIRRIB|possibly]] involved with Shockwave's major assault on [[Iacon]], shortly after Optronix rose to become [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]. {{storylink|The War Within}} In later years, he and the other cassettes joined Soundwave under Shockwave's command during the [[Dark Ages]], as part of the main Decepticon faction.

Four million years ago, Frenzy was onboard the Nemesis when Megatron and its crew attempted to hijack the Ark, and crashed on the planet Earth to spend millions of years in stasis lock. In 1984, a volcanic eruption woke the sleeping Transformers, and they reactivated to carry on their war for nearly a decade on our planet. No further information is given about this time. The Decepticons were eventually defeated and captured by the Autobots, who placed Frenzy and the others on-board a spacecraft called the [[Ark II]] which they planned to fly back to Cybertron. The craft was sabotaged, however, and exploded on its maiden flight, leaving the world believing the Transformers dead when in fact they had plummeted into the Arctic waters.

Many Transformers were salvaged by the human arms dealer known as [[Lazarus]], who wanted to turn them into Weapons of Mass Destruction for the highest bidder. Frenzy was not seen among Lazarus's stock, though, implying he was too damaged to be activated at the time, or was only recovered by the Decepticons later after they regained control of their facilities.

He had only one line of dialogue in the second novel, [[Annihilation]], among the Decepticons who chose to serve Megatron instead of Starscream. Soon after the Decepticons reorganized and began fighting the Autobots again, both sides were confronted with an unexpected visit from Cybertron—Shockwave and [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] working side-by-side in a unified Cybertronian government. Quickly dispatching Megatron, Shockwave demanded the loyalty of the remaining troops from the Nemesis. {{storylink|New World Order}} Back on Cybertron, he used Rumble and Frenzy to further his own purposes by freeing the psychopathic [[Stunticon (G1)|Stunticons]] from the [[Detention Banks]], distracting Magnus and the [[Wrecker|Wreckers]]. Starscream was also making schemes, though, and intervened on their mission to extract the [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticons]] as well. {{storylink|Cold War}} With Soundwave's assent, Frenzy and the rest of the Nemesis crew agreed to follow Starscream back to Earth and pillage and plunder its energy resources. {{storylink|Revelation (War and Peace)|Revelation}}

Things didn't quite go as planned. Starscream's "brigade" and the remaining Autobots posted on Earth each imposed heavy losses on each other, and Frenzy was one of the Decepticons taken prisoner aboard the Ark. {{storylink|Night of the Combaticons}} They were freed by [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]], but ran smack into [[Sunstorm (G1)|Sunstorm]]: exposure to his [[Energon (fuel)|energon]] radiation quickly took Frenzy and friends off-line once more. {{storylink|Black Sunshine}} They were quickly taken back into Autobot custody. In order to deal with Sunstorm, however, the Autobots were forced to deal with Starscream, and he bartered for his troops' release at 50% power levels in exchange for his help. {{storylink|Skyfire (issue)|Skyfire}} That was meager compensation, though, and so when Megatron made contact with Soundwave shortly thereafter, the Decepticons jumped at the chance to mutiny against Starscream. Frenzy was one of the many Transformers recovered from the crashed ''[[Ark (G1)|Ark]]'' by [[Cobra]]. Joe]] attacked Cobra's base on the [[Fera Islands]] the following year, Frenzy was guarding the airfield. He found [[Beachhead|Beach Head]] trying to sneak into the air control tower, and attacked the soldier when he didn't know the password. Beach Head attempted to electrocute Frenzy, but the Decepticon was unimpressed, responding that he always enjoyed that humans had something Autobots don't—a capacity for pain. {{storylink|Wolves}} During the fight, Frenzy was lured out on the airfield, where Beach Head poured airplane fuel on him. [[Grunt]] then opened fire on the airplane's fuel tank, causing an explosion that heavily damaged Frenzy and enveloped him in flames. Millions of years ago, Frenzy and Rumble were working together as "industrial equipment" on mining outpost C-12, harvesting energon veins for Cybertron. Their services were suddenly declared "not necessary" by the Senate, however, as the mines were being retrofitted to require only automated workers. When Megatron took violent action against the Senator delivering the news, a riot broke out and Frenzy and Rumble joined in the melee. They and the other surviving members of the uprising were taken into custody after a brief skirmish, and prepped for transport to a penal facility known as "[[The Rig]]". Rumble broke out of his chains and attacked the guards on [[Longshot|their transport shuttle]], prompting Megatron and the other prisoners to join in. They hijacked the ship and took it to ground in the bad part of [[Kaon]], fleeing into the underground. {{storylink|Megatron Origin issue 1}}

Staying together, Frenzy, Rumble, and Megatron hooked up with a deathsport tournament that had been growing under the direction of a robot named [[Clench (G2)|Clench]]. In only a short period of time, Clench was "retired" and Megatron assumed control of the deathsport, with Rumble and Frenzy as his top lackeys. As his power grew, so did Megatron's ambition, and he forged an alliance with Soundwave, middleman for the corrupt Senator Ratbat who was feeding information and technology to the gladiators. Once Soundwave was firmly in Megatron's camp instead of Ratbat's, the up-and-coming "Decepticon" leader began planning to take the games out into the streets. As part of the endgame, Frenzy and Rumble were modified to lose their vehicle modes and instead fit inside Soundwave's chest compartment. When [[Sentinel Prime (G1)|Sentinel Prime]] and his security services team raided the arena and took the gladiators prisoner, Frenzy and Rumble played a key role in the Trojan Horse plan. Soundwave received clemency due to his Senate connections, and was given free roam of the facilities. When the word was given, Soundwave unleashed Frenzy, Rumble and his other cassettes and chaos reigned through the Kaon Council chambers. The other newly-minted Decepticons were released, given weapons and badges, and went out to lay waste to the city. Frenzy's activities over the next few million years are unknown, but he and his capabilities were acknowledged and respected by other Decepticons. He was apparently not with Soundwave in 1984 when the communications officer was mode-locked and trapped on Earth for decades by [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]] and his minions. Optimus refused, stating that the army's mission was of defense, and it went against everything their society was based upon to exacerbate war. Megatron slammed Optimus into the wall and stated that their society then needed to ''change''. He held a massive saber-rattling war rally outside Trypticon, demanding vengeance upon the alien aggressors. Optimus Prime got the snot beaten out of him, every attack he landed on Megatron being repaired by All Spark power. However, he distracted Megatron long enough for Bumblebee to hit him with the ''other'' thing they'd broken into the Dam for: Sector Seven's greatest weapon, a nanovirus that targeted All Spark operation frequencies. Or so it appeared. He'd downloaded his mind into the All Spark interface module, knowing Starscream would take it and assimilate it into himself. While Starscream didn't, he ''did'' follow Megatron's tactical suggestions. This time Starscream ''did''... much to his dismay when he realised what he'd done. And so, when Stockade's New Decepticons stormed the [[Decepticon Heartland]], Megatron was there to "greet" them with fiery death!

Megatron fought Stockade in single combat, and [[Nucleon]]-fueled punches rained down on him—only for him to ''grab'' a punch and use the momentum to hurl his opponent, berating him for lacking clear ambition to support his strength. This fight would've carried on except then the Autobots turned up. Trashing a rebellion, conquering Earth, ''and'' killing Optimus Prime in one day?! WOOOOO!

But Optimus drew first blood, and before Megatron could truly fight back, he was forcibly teleported with his Decepticons to Cybertron. A dead Cybertron. A dead Cybertron that itself teleported to an unknown area of space, leaving them trapped with no way back and no way off, ''forever''.

"The Ice Man" was kept in deep freeze by [[Sector Seven]] in their super-secret [[Sector Seven High Arctic Base|High Arctic Base]] until they decided to move him closer to the [[AllSpark (Movie)|Allspark]] in 1969. The convoy was disrupted when the driver of the lead truck spun out causing the rest of the vehicles to pile up on the icy roads. It was determined later that the driver was the [[Soviet Union|Soviet]] spy [[Sergei Tasarov]] who had taken the place of the Sector Seven agent Peter Hodgson.

While the convoy prepared their defenses and a Soviet strike force attacked trying to obtain the Ice Man.

When Megatron came partially online, it was obvious that some time had passed. Not only was he encased in a primitive transport, but there were [[Human|lifeforms]] fighting over him. Before Megatron could properly exterminate them, another crude transport crashed into his, causing a massive (but not spark-threatening) explosion. Megatron would have been pleased to know that the fire only added to his terrifying visage in the eyes of the maggots. Regaining his composure, Megatron noticed [[Phil Nolan|an insect]] standing near him. As Megatron reached out to grab it, [[Thomas Kinnear|another insect]], this one terminally damaged, began firing crude projectiles which his body armor easily deflected. Waiting until after the creature had expended its ammunition, Megatron grabbed it in his hand, only to discover that it had packed itself with explosives, which threw Megatron to the ground when they detonated. Then, the aforementioned first insect began spraying liquid nitrogen on Megatron, causing him to go back into stasis. Megatron eventually succeeded in tracking the All Spark to [[Earth]], where he rather embarrassingly crash-landed in the Arctic Circle and was frozen solid for thousands of years. In 1897, some 100 Earth-years before the arrival of the other Transformers, he was discovered by an explorer named [[Archibald Witwicky|Archibald Amundsen Witwicky]]. Captain Witwicky accidentally activated Megatron's navigation system and caused the coordinates of the All Spark to be etched onto the explorer's glasses. Megatron remained imprisoned in the Arctic, until the 1930s, when he was dug out by the United States government and moved to a secret [[Sector Seven]] stronghold inside [[Hoover Dam]]. In the years that followed, many modern devices (by Earth standards) were reverse-engineered from his frozen body.

In the present day, having searched the galaxy for the All Spark and being drawn to Earth, the remaining Decepticons learned of Witwicky's glasses. Through the Internet, they determined the location of both Megatron and the All Spark inside Hoover Dam. [[Frenzy (Movie)|Frenzy]] infiltrated the dam and shut down the power systems, while Starscream attacked the external powerlines, resulting in Megatron's thawing out. Once again online, the leader of the Decepticons informed the worthless insects of his true name, shouting "I am Megatron!" (to clear up all that N.B.E.-01/Ice Man nonsense), randomly killed a few of them while destroying his former prison, then transformed and flew off after the All Spark again. He met up with Starscream for the first time in thousands of years on the outside, and, never one for pleasantries, immediately demanded to know where the Cube was. Upon learning that the humans had moved the All Spark, Megatron berated Starscream for yet another failure.

After Starscream and Devastator's opening attacks in [[Mission City]], Megatron arrived, and again declared his name (he really wants people to know who he is). The Autobots were so panicked by the sight of their long lost nemesis that [[Ratchet (Movie)|Ratchet]] called for a temporary retreat. Megatron blasted [[Jazz (Movie)|Jazz]] away when the diminutive Autobot attempted to attack, then threw him into the air before crushing him on top of a tower with his clawed talons. Jazz vainly fought on, asking if Megatron wanted a "piece", but doing little damage to Megatron. The Decepticon leader killed the Autobot by tearing him in half, callously declaring that he wanted "two".

As [[Sam Witwicky|the human boy]] ran off with the All Spark, Megatron ordered the Decepticons to [[Decepticons, attack|attack]]. Devastator attacked the armed insects, while Starscream and [[Blackout (Movie)|Blackout]] fought [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide]] and Ratchet for the All Spark. At that moment, Optimus Prime appeared and challenged Megatron. Millennia in the ice had done nothing to lessen the animosity Megatron felt for his brother, however. Barely managing to growl out Prime's name, he transformed and flew at Prime at full speed. The Autobot leader leapt and grabbed a hold of Megatron, who slammed him into a building before flying right through a skyscraper. Both leaders landed in the middle of an intersection, but Megatron was the first to recover and leaped upon his brother, snarling that the humans were undeserving of life. Optimus Prime replied that they had the right to choose for themselves before he threw his brother off. Megatron declared that if Prime wished to defend them, he should "join them in extinction", forming his [[fusion cannon]]. Before he could fire, the Autobot leader drew his [[ion blaster]] and fired, hitting Megatron. The Decepticon leader shrugged off this attack, spun around from the momentum and fired his cannon, throwing Optimus Prime into the side of a building.

Megatron pursued the young human who had removed the All Spark from Hoover Dam, destroying everything that stood in his way. The boy ran to a dilapidated building that was the designated coordinates for a human military evacuation team, and Megatron smashed his way through, yelling that he could smell the human maggot. Starscream destroyed the helicopter intended to take the All Spark, and Megatron burst through the floor, inquiring if it was courage or fear that compelled him. Finally cornering him on a ledge, Megatron offered that if the human gave him the All Spark, the boy might live as [[Ravage (G1)|his]] [[Laserbeak (G1)|pet]]. The Decepticon leader relished the human's defiant refusal and destroyed the ledge the human was standing upon, sending the boy tumbling to the ground.

Unfortunately, the human was caught by Optimus Prime, who then tried to escape down the side of the building before Megatron tackled him and sent all three slamming into the pavement. As a nearby [[Michael Bay|human bystander]] attempted to run, the Decepticon expressed his disgust at the insect's proximity and flicked it away. Protecting the young boy, Prime declared that their war would end here and it was now just between the two brothers. Though lusting for the All Spark, Megatron decided to indulge his brother's obvious death wish, declaring that only he was in this fight. Despite Optimus Prime's best efforts, Megatron was relentless, matching the Autobot leader with blow after devastating blow until he collapsed. Adding insult to injury, Megatron informed Prime that his defense of the "weak" was the real reason he lost.

The Decepticon leader turned his attention back to the human boy, but was suddenly attacked by the human fighter jets and [[William Lennox|Captain Lennox]]'s ground soldiers firing sabot rounds. Optimus took this chance, striking Megatron and knocking him down. His armor a damaged, shattered mess, Megatron ignored the punishment and focused on the human boy, growling that he would kill the boy and that the All Spark was his. As Optimus Prime ordered the boy to place the All Spark into his chest, the human instead pushed it into the now-exposed [[spark]] in Megatron's chest, overloading him with energy and extinguishing the Decepticon's life force. As Optimus Prime stood over Megatron's lifeless shell, watching the light flicker out of his brother's [[Sensors#Optical sensors|optics]], he remarked somberly, yet remorsefully, that Megatron had left him no choice, and removed a shard of the All Spark from his brother's spark cavity.

Some time into the battle, a warp opened, bringing with it [[Jazz (Movie)|Jazz]], [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide]], [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]], [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]], and [[Ratchet (Movie)|Ratchet]]. [[Ravage (ROTF)|Ravage]] was sent to steal the shard, and swam to the Abyss with [[Scalpel]], [[Long Haul (ROTF)|Long Haul]], [[Mixmaster (ROTF)|Mixmaster]], [[Rampage (ROTF)|Rampage]] and [[Ze little one|another Constructicon]]. Scalpel ordered spare parts be used to repair Megatron's body with the unnamed Constructicon, who was torn apart by his larger brethren, and then struck Megatron with the shard: the Decepticon leader was reborn as a Cybertronian tank with flight capabilities and a [[death-lock pincer]]. Megatron flew up to the surface, striking a submarine on his way, before journeying into space to find the ''[[Nemesis (ROTF)|Nemesis]]''.

On the ruined ship, Megatron met up with [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]], and chastised his subordinate for leaving him to die on Earth. Starscream defended his actions by saying that he had to take care of the [[hatchling]]s, who were dying without [[energon (fuel)|energon]], as someone had to take command in Megatron's absence. Furious, Megatron bashed Starscream into a wall containing protoform sacks, and told Starscream that even in death, there is no command but Megatron's. Megatron met up with [[The Fallen]], who was weakened and in a life support chair. Megatron told his master he had failed and allowed the All Spark to be destroyed, but The Fallen told Megatron that the knowledge of the All Spark had instead been transferred to the human boy who killed him, [[Sam Witwicky]]. With the knowledge within Sam's mind, they could find another energon source, hidden away from The Fallen eons ago. Already eager to avenge himself, Megatron begged The Fallen for the chance to strip the flesh from Sam, but The Fallen asked for patience. Before they could act, Megatron was to kill [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]], who was the last of the [[Dynasty of Primes]], which made him the only one that could kill the Fallen. Megatron knew that Optimus would protect the boy, and ordered him captured.

Megatron sprang a trap, dispatching [[Grindor (ROTF)|Grindor]] to take [[Sam Witwicky]], [[Mikaela Banes]] and [[Leo Spitz]] to him at an abandoned factory. Although Megatron would have rather killed Sam slowly and painfully, Sam had valuable information as to the energon source's location in his mind, which he had received from his own All Spark fragment. Megatron held the boy down while Scalpel performed several invasive probes of Sam's mind. Scalpel's probes confirmed The Fallen's claims, and Scalpel declared that they needed Sam's brain on the table, something Megatron had no objections to. Just as Scalpel was ready to dissect Sam's brain, Optimus and [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]] burst in to rescue the humans. Megatron attempted to attack Optimus, but was instead shot out of the factory. Optimus drove Sam to a forest, with Megatron in hot pursuit. The Autobot and Decepticon leaders transformed and battled as Sam fled. Optimus was pretty easily dominating the fight, trash talking Megatron all the while, forcing Megatron to call his Decepticons for help.

Starscream and Grindor arrived to aid their commander, as Megatron told Prime that Sam could lead them to another energon source. Kicking off his [[mouthplate]] and blasting him, Megatron asked Prime if one boy was worth the future of the Cybertronians. Prime replied that he'd never stop at one, then took on all three Decepticons. Surprisingly, he was winning, stabbing Megatron multiple times and knocking off Starscream's arm. As a weary Prime tore Grindor apart, Megatron [[Death-lock pincer|stabbed]] him in the back and blasted him: Prime fell, mortally wounded. As Megatron moved for the boy, the rest of the Autobots arrived and provided enough cover for Bumblebee to spirit Sam away. Already injured from the battle with Prime, Megatron and Starscream were forced to retreat.

With Prime dead, Megatron was quite pleased, until Starscream informed him that the boy had escaped. Furious, Megatron smacked his lieutenant with his own severed arm and ran his treads on him for a moment for losing track of a single insect, but Starscream countered that he was one of seven billion, and could be anywhere. Considering the situation, Megatron decided it was time to end their secret war, and that if they couldn't find the boy, they'd have the humans bring him to the Decepticons. Soundwave used his scanning abilities to locate the boys parents, the rejuvenated Fallen broadcast a message to deliver Sam to them across the planet. Megatron himself broadcasted the Fallen's message by rewiring the [[Empire State Building]]'s radio tower.

He then flew to [[Egypt]], where nineteen thousand years before, the Fallen had built a [[Solar harvester]] to harness the [[Sun]] for energon. Starscream informed him that the humans had brought Prime's body with them, and Megatron surmised the boy's intentions. Commanding the rest of the Decepticons to begin their [[Operation: Firestorm|assault]], Megatron ordered [[Devastator (ROTF)|Devastator]] to destroy the pyramid that was built over the harvester, while he himself chased Sam for the [[Matrix of Leadership]], which would activate the harvester. Megatron almost killed Sam, but was overwhelmed by human gunfire, and flew off.

Fortunately, The Fallen managed to take the Matrix and activate the harvester, but it had already been used to resurrect Optimus. Optimus combined with [[Jetfire (ROTF)|Jetfire]] and destroyed the harvester, knocking Megatron off the pyramid while Prime went for The Fallen. Quickly recovering, Megatron attacked Optimus from behind, leading to a two on one match with Megatron and the Fallen battling Prime. This one went better for Optimus than the last one, as he used Megatron's own cannon to blast half his face off, and then severed the arm. Finally, Optimus used his afterburners to send Megatron hurtling through some ruins, ending his role in the battle. Megatron was so damaged he could barely call out for "Tharscweam!", but it soon mattered little as Optimus Prime killed the Fallen. Horrified at the loss of the power behind the Decepticons, Megatron acknowledged Starscream's advice that they should flee, but noted that "This isn't over." {{storylink|Revenge of the Fallen (film)|Revenge of the Fallen}}

Hiding in a disused factory, Megatron was able to cloak the energy signature of his spark, so that when Optimus and Sideswipe turned up, they didn't notice him hiding under a pile of girders. This quickly changed, as Create-A-Bot was convinced by Barricade to free their commander, as Starscream is a back-stabbing bureaucrat while Megatron is a truly zealous leader. Once free, Megatron quickly took the time to wipe out Jazz, who has been left at the bridge to help get rid of Megatron. After a fairly short battle, Megatron smashed Jazz into the dirt, leaving him to die. Back in Tranquility, he chased after Starscream, only to be blocked by [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]]. Once the sibling rivalry was finished, Prime was left in pieces in the streets of Tranquility.

Arriving in the Casino Strip, Megatron found Create-A-Bot damaged and Starscream flying away. Giving chase, he attacked his traitorous second-in-command, nearly destroying him despite his awesome All Spark driven powers. Starscream used his last breath to insult Megatron before being killed by the tyrant. Returning to Create-A-Bot's side, Megatron took a moment to call him a weakling and a failure, completely forgetting about the fact that Create-A-Bot had saved him, led him to Starscream, destroyed the Autobots, and served him more loyally than most of his other followers. Taking a moment to let this sink in, Megatron went on to tell him that the weak are made to serve the strong, then ripped the young Decepticon apart and ate his Spark. Megatron was the Decepticons' well-rounded fighter. He was armed with a rapid-firing lightning gun and a dark matter beam. His special ability fired his fusion arm cannon, which would deal heavy damage to any targeted enemy.

After NSA Director [[Theodore Galloway]] was captured and made an unwitting puppet for the Decepticons, he revealed the location of the last [[AllSpark (Movie)|All Spark shard]] and Megatron's final resting place. After the shard was retrieved by Ravage the Decepticons launched a full-scale assault on the [[United States Navy|US Navy]] fleet assigned to watch over Megatron. While Starscream, and his drone army kept the Autobots and humans busy, the [[Constructicon (ROTF)|Constructicons]] used the shard to revive Megatron, who rose from the ocean like an angel of death, before flying off into space. Back on the wreck of the Decepticon starship ''[[Nemesis (ROTF)|Nemesis]]'', Megatron very blandly told Starscream off for abandoning him on Earth, but otherwise didn't seem to be terribly irritated.

Speaking with The Fallen, Megatron believed he had failed, but The Fallen said that the knowledge within the All Spark was placed within [[Sam Witwicky]]'s mind. With it, they could find another means of creating Energon. Eager for revenge, Megatron assigned [[Grindor (ROTF)|Grindor]] the mission of capturing the human boy who brought him low for interrogation. Though Megatron managed to retrieve the information he required from the boy, he was prevented from killing the fleshling due to the intervention of the Autobots. Soon after, Megatron faced Optimus Prime in not-quite one-on-one combat in a major United States East Coast city. Though Optimus was supported by numerous [[Protectobot Scout|Protectobot drones]] Megatron seemingly defeated his enemy once and for all.

Heavily damaged due to earlier battles, Rumble sat out the next Decepticon offensive against the Ark, and was not reactivated until after Decepticon leadership had shifted from Megatron to the returning [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]]. Thanks to their new commander, the Decepticons had secured the Ark and all of the Autobots were believed incapacitated. Despite all these victories, Rumble failed miserably at guarding the Ark, letting one [[Buster Witwicky (G1)|Buster Witwicky]] sneak by him and abscond with the [[Creation Matrix]]. It turned out Rumble's optical circuitry was too low-rez to pick up on humans in his peripheral. {{storylink|The New Order}} Shockwave actually had to run Rumble's memories through a computer-enhanced refinement process before he could even see the culprit. Needless to say, Shockwave was NOT happy when he found out. {{storylink|Brainstorm!}} Waiting for his punishment, Rumble actually began developing moisture and condensation on his face-plate in anticipation. Fortunately for Rumble, his only punishment was to guard their human slaves at the [[Blackrock Aerospace Assembly Plant Number One]]. Shockwave's defeat left the Decepticons leaderless for a time, and Rumble served various masters until Megatron and Shockwave reached an accord, agreeing to work together as co-leaders of the Decepticons. Almost as soon as the Decepticons officially relocated to a coal mine in Wyoming, Megatron led Rumble and several of his fellow soldiers in an attack on the Ark. Having been alerted by Shockwave to an all-out Autobot assault on the mine, Megatron concluded that the Ark and its secrets would be relatively unguarded, and ripe for the picking. Four million years ago, Rumble was a member of the original Decepticon raiding party that boarded the [[Ark (G1)|Autobots' spacecraft]], which then crashed into prehistoric Earth, knocking all the Transformers aboard offline. When they were reawakened in 1984 by a volcanic eruption, Rumble was reformatted by [[Teletraan I (G1)|Teletraan I]] into an audio cassette that fit snugly into Soundwave's chest compartment. As soon as the Decepticons had withdrawn from the crashed hulk of the Autobots' ship, Soundwave deployed Rumble to help [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream]] gather materials for construction of a temporary headquarters. Casually brushing off Starscream's constant complaints about [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]]'s leadership abilities, Rumble put his piledrivers to work reducing a power plant to scrap to provide the needed building materials.

With their temporary base in place and plans for a [[Victory (ship)|new space cruiser]] ready, the Decepticons began gathering energy from Earth's many available sources. They began with an attack on an offshore oil rig, during which Rumble menaced human worker [[Sparkplug Witwicky]], and shoved the man's son, [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike]], into the ocean when he tried to attack the small Decepticon.{{storylink|More than Meets the Eye, Part 1}} Soon after, exploiting information stolen from Teletraan I, the Decepticons had Rumble cause a tidal wave that would push the power output of the hydroelectric plant at [[Sherman Dam]] to its maximum capacity. Rumble was caught in the act by the Autobot [[Hound (G1)|Hound]], but in spite of his diminutive size, Rumble came out on top in the underwater battle, burying Hound under a pile of rocks. {{storylink|More than Meets the Eye, Part 2}} Rumble and Hound had a rematch during the battle to prevent the Decepticons escaping Earth in their finished cruiser, but this time, Rumble didn't fare so well. When next seen, Rumble was guarding the Decepticons' [[space bridge]] with [[Laserbeak (G1)|Laserbeak]] as they awaited the return of Megatron from [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. Once Megatron had emerged from the bridge, Rumble joined him in attacked the laboratory of [[Doctor Alcazar]] and stood guard outside, warning the Autobots to keep their distance as Megatron worked to create [[antimatter]] with the lab's facilities. Although Hound and Mirage were able to sneak by Rumble using their hologram and invisibility powers, the Autobots were unable to stop Megatron completing his experiment, and Rumble took part in his leader's subsequent attack on [[Ark (G1)|Autobot Headquarters]]. Megatron's plan was foiled when the Autobots used a remote control device to take over [[Skywarp (G1)|Skywarp]]'s body, causing him to fire the antimatter-powered Megatron at Rumble. {{storylink|Roll for It}}

Rumble was helping Starscream and [[Reflector (G1)|Reflector]] load [[energon cube]]s for transport through the space bridge when a team of Autobots arrived with the intention of using the bridge themselves. Rumble tried to open a crevasse beneath [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]], but the Decepticons were then ordered by Megatron to let the Autobots use the bridge. While they were absent, Megatron staged an attack on Autobot Headquarters, during which Rumble rumbled with [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]] and [[Sunstreaker (G1)|Sunstreaker]]. {{storylink|Divide and Conquer}} Rumble was later instrumental in the Decepticons' plan to tap the heat energy of the Earth's core, as he smashed through the polar ice to help locate the crystal shaft they needed. When the Decepticons attacked the [[Great Falls]] hydroelectric power plant, Rumble helped Megatron dispatch the counter-attacking Autobots with an unusual tactic: using the planet's equipment, Megatron channeled the seismic energy of tremors created by Rumble to boost the power of his [[fusion cannon]], and blasted all the Autobots into the river. When the Autobots' newest members, the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]], arrived to save their comrades, Rumble pitted his piledrivers against [[Sludge (G1)|Sludge]], who came out on top by creating a quake so powerful it broke Rumble's piledrivers off! {{storylink|S.O.S. Brashly striding through the open front door of Autobot Headquarters, Rumble set about causing tremors throughout the Autobots' base to distract the heroic robots while Laserbeak kidnapped Sparkplug Witwicky right out from under their noses. {{storylink|The Ultimate Doom, Part 1}} Rumble then served as something of a "lab assistant" to the Decepticons' new human ally, [[Doctor Arkeville]], as he turned Sparkplug and many other captured humans into mind-controlled slaves with his [[hypno-chip]]s. Rumble took a perverse enjoyment in watching the human slaves suffer, yanking one through an electric field {{storylink|The Ultimate Doom, Part 2}} and tripping one unfortunate up while he was trying to do his allotted job. With these additional powers, Megatron challenged [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] to one-on-one combat, using Rumble's quake-generating abilities to open a chasm into which Prime tumbled. Rumble helped defend the installation the Decepticons were used to experiment with [[electro-cell]]s, {{storylink|Traitor}} after which he was put in charge of controlling the stolen Autobot invention, the [[immobilizer]], {{storylink|The Immobilizer}} and was briefly glimpsed in battle in the ghost town the Decepticons were used as a staging base. {{storylink|The Autobot Run}}

When the Decepticons allied themselves with the inhabitants of the underwater city of [[Sub-Atlantica]], Soundwave observed the Autobot infiltrators Bumblebee, Spike and [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] pursuing the Sub-Atlantican king [[Nergill]] into the city's depths. Unable to follow due to his size, Soundwave sent Rumble and Ravage after them, but once they had tracked them down, Rumble was shocked to discover that the insane Nergill was planning to blow up Sub-Atlantica and everyone on it. Rumble tried to stop Nergill by activating his piledrivers and collapsing the chamber, but the mad fish-king dug his way out of the rubble and destroyed his city. {{storylink|Atlantis, Arise!}}

Rumble helped in the Decepticon plan to take over a fleet of oil tankers by firing [[Remote Control Circuit Linker|circuit linker cards]] at the ships that put them under the control of the super computer [[TORQ III]]. When a team of Autobots arrived to investigate, they were captured, and Rumble and Ravage served as their jailers until Spike engineered their escape by pinning the two cassettes to the wall with an electromagnet. {{storylink|Day of the Machines}} Rumble later put his piledrivers into action to help steal the human-built robot [[Nightbird (G1)|Nightbird]] {{storylink|Enter the Nightbird}} and helped the Decepticons defend a crevice of [[korlonium crystal]]s from Autobot incursion. {{storylink|A Prime Problem}}

Together with Soundwave and his other cassettes, Rumble attacked the testing site for the Autobots' new weapon, the [[Negavator]]. While Frenzy kept Optimus Prime busy, Rumble was able to get inside the cockpit of the Negavator itself, but before he could turn its power on Prime, [[Inferno (G1)|Inferno]] blasted the machine and shorted out the controls. Their mission foiled, the Decepticons fled, but as a parting gesture, Rumble launched a missile that demolished the control bunker and injured [[Red Alert (G1)|Red Alert]]. The Decepticons made another play for the Negavator only a short time later, this time trying to bury the Autobots under an avalanche caused by Rumble, but enjoyed a similar lack of success. {{storylink|Auto Berserk}}

While searching the jungles of South America for the ruins of their [[Nemesis (G1)|old starship]], Rumble started bickering with Starscream, and was highly amused when the air commander was caught in the coils of a giant snake. When their quest ended in success, Rumble indulged in a bout of celebratory over-energizing with his fellow Decepticons that evening. {{storylink|Microbots}}

When the Decepticons fooled the population of Earth into believing the Autobots were villains and they were the true heroes, Rumble kept up appearances by attending a disco with Soundwave and the other cassettes, and genuinely quite enjoying himself. With the Autobots exiled to space, the Decepticons' ruse came to an end, and Rumble was made a slave-master in the work camp that the conquered [[Central City (G1)|Central City]] was turned into a slave camp. When [[Chip Chase]] tried to escape, Spike covered his flight by shoving a cart of energon cubes into Rumble, who was in turn sent crashing into a generator and was electrocuted. Rumble was among the Decepticons who began malfunctioning due to the deterioration of his [[cybertonium]], causing him to uncontrollably deploy his piledrivers and start pummelling Megatron's leg. {{storylink|Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 1}} Once repaired, Rumble participated in a Decepticon mission to [[United Kingdom|Great Britain]], where he, Starscream, Ravage and [[Ramjet (G1)|Ramjet]] all found themselves cast back in time to the Middle Ages by the mysterious, magical [[Dragon Mound]]. Falling in with local ne'er-do-well [[Sir Wigend du Blackthorne]], the energy-deprived Decepticons took part in a local jousting tournament as Wigend's representatives, in order to win ownership of the land owned by his rival, [[Sir Aetheling the Red]], as the first step towards conquering the planet. Armed with a lance and shield and riding atop Ramjet, Rumble jousted with Sir Aetheling himself, but was defeated, prompting Starscream to discard chivalry and kidnap Sir Aetheling's daughter [[Nimue]]. Eventually, the Decepticons were defeated by [[Hoist (G1)|Hoist]] and [[Warpath (G1)|Warpath]], who had followed them back through time, and the wizard [[Beorht]], and were returned to their rightful era. {{storylink|A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court}}

Rumble was among the Decepticons who temporarily gained the power of an [[electrum]] coating, {{storylink|The Golden Lagoon}} worked in the [[New Jersey (Earth)|New Jersey]] Pine Barrens to create an army of robot car warrior {{storylink|Make Tracks}} and was caught up in the menace of the [[Morphobot]]s. {{storylink|Quest for Survival}}

Accompanying Megatron to the world of the [[Tlalakan]]s to quash a rebellion among the inhabitants, Rumble wound up falling into their [[Well of Transformation]], which caused his body to warp and change. Not understanding what was happening to him, Rumble begged the native girl [[Alana]] to help him, and she informed him that he needed to think of a tree in order to survive. Rumble complied... and promptly turned into one! Stuck in this immobile form on the shores of the well, Rumble was left out of the following battle until an explosion knocked him back into its waters and he returned to normal. {{storylink|Sea Change}}

Rumble was dispatched to Cybertron with Starscream and Ramjet to locate the headquarters of the [[Female Autobots]], and used his piledrivers to collapse the base on Starscream's orders. {{storylink|The Search for Alpha Trion}} A little later, Rumble helped Soundwave prepare the [[psycho-probe]] to scan the mind of [[Astoria Carlton-Ritz]], but the heiress's ability to jinx machines around her just meant that the unfortunate duo wound up being electrocuted by the device. {{storylink|The Girl Who Loved Powerglide}} Then, when the Decepticons invaded a movie lot to recover footage that a crew had taken of [[Dirge (G1)|Dirge]] carrying a secret cargo, Rumble mistook some animatronic dinosaurs for the Dinobots and blasted them to bits. {{storylink|Hoist Goes Hollywood}}

Seeking to challenge the Autobots' rule of the roads, Megatron charged Rumble with stealing an assortment of cars and trucks that he could rebuild as Decepticons. His small size worked in his favour, and Rumble invaded a Formula 1 race track, hijacked some bank robbers' getaway car and terrorized a trucker named [[Possum Brown]] to get the vehicles Megatron required. Impressed by the rebuilt cards "stunt-driving", Rumble inspired Megatron to name his new creations the [[Stunticon (G1)|Stunticons]]. Rumble subsequently accompanied Megatron to Cybertron to bestow life to the Stunticons using the mega-computer [[Vector Sigma]], although Rumble found the unassuming spherical form of the computer a bit underwhelming. {{storylink|The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1}} The Decepticons then returned to Earth, and Rumble helped set up equipment to analyze the [[Key to Vector Sigma]]'s power. {{storylink|The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 2}}

Rumble travelled to [[Galata Valley]] with Megatron and Soundwave to help search for the [[Pearl of Bahoudin]], {{storylink|Trans-Europe Express}} following which he went on a significantly greater journey, voyaging to the planet [[Antilla]] with Megatron, Starscream and [[Astrotrain (G1)|Astrotrain]]. The deserted planet creeped Rumble out, and he was happy when they left, with a new "[[Lightning Bug]]" heat ray weapon into the bargain. They also came away with the dreaded [[Cosmic Rust (disease)|Cosmic Rust]] plague, and Rumble accompanied Megatron as he used the Lightning Bug to spread the disease through Autobot Headquarters. {{storylink|Cosmic Rust (episode)|Cosmic Rust}} For his final recorded adventures in the 20th century, Rumble battled Starscream's [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticons]], {{storylink|Starscream's Brigade}} and helped operate Megatron's [[Giant Purple Griffin|new fortress]], activating its flight systems and turning its weapons on [[Superion (G1)|Superion]]. {{storylink|Aerial Assault}}

Over the course of the next twenty years, the Decepticons succeeded in conquering all of Cybertron and forcing the Autobots to relocate to bases on two of the planet's moons, and to their new home of [[Autobot City]] on Earth. In 2005, when the Decepticons staged a [[Battle of Autobot City|major assault against Autobot City]], Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage and [[Ratbat (G1)|Ratbat]] were deployed by Soundwave to disable a communications tower that [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]] was using to broadcast a message to Optimus Prime at [[Moonbase One]]. After doing so, Rumble proceeded to smash his way into the tower with his piledrivers, and he and his fellow cassettes then piled on [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]]. Blaster then unleashed his own cassettes on them, and Rumble wound up grappling with [[Steeljaw (G1)|Steeljaw]]. Unfortunately for the Decepticons, Rumble and his fellow cassettes had not acted quickly enough, and Blaster's distress call had indeed reached Optimus Prime, who soon arrived on Earth and defeated Megatron in battle. With the fall of their leader, the Decepticons retreated aboard Astrotrain, with Rumble carrying Megatron's fusion cannon while Soundwave carried Megatron himself. Once the Decepticons were on their way, it became necessary to jettison excess weight so that Astrotrain could make it to Cybertron, and Megatron was one of those ejected, prompting an argument over who should replace him as leader. When [[Hook (G1)|Hook]] called Soundwave "an uncharismatic bore", Soundwave ejected his cassettes to fight for his honor, and Rumble took particular umbrage at the insult. The Constructicons formed Devastator to teach them a lesson, but Rumble and Frenzy caused him to separate by shaking Astrotrain with their piledrivers. In the end, Starscream won out, and Rumble was present for his coronation...and subsequent disintegration by a powerful new Decepticon who appeared during the ceremony. Impressed by this show of force, Rumble asked what his name was so that the Decepticons could all cheer for him, and the newcomer announced he was [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]]. {{storylink|The Transformers: The Movie}}

Galvatron's leadership did not start well, as the Decepticons were all subsequently forced off of Cybertron by the Autobots following the defeat of the planet-eating [[Unicron]]. Badly damaged and low on energy, they retreated to the burnt-out planet of [[Chaar]], but even this great fall didn't dampen Rumble's spirits, as he was heard loudly advocating both "pulverowderizing" and "powderulverizing" the Autobots. [[Onslaught (G1)|Onslaught]] credited Rumble's enthusiasm, but pointed out they could hardly carry out his plan when they barely had enough energy to just stay alive. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1}} When Autobot leader [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus Prime]] was found spying on the Decepticons with Grimlock, and Rumble joined the other Decepticons in mauling them before they were resuced by their Autobot comrades. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2}}

In the late 1980s, working with Soundwave and his fellow Cassettes, Rumble attacked Bumblebee and the Autobot's human friend [[Kenji]] during their patrol of Tokyo. [[Powerglide (G1)|Powerglide]] swooped in to take Kenji to safety, and Bumblebee easily eluded the inept Rumble long enough to execute a [[Bumble Kick]]! against Soundwave. With his chest-port damaged, Soundwave was unable to hide Rumble and the other Cassettes when [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]] and [[Cliffjumper (G1)|Cliffjumper]] arrived to back up Bumblebee. They ended up just bouncing off Soundwave's chest in cassette mode. Rumble eventually recovered. In another scheme, the Decepticons tried to frame the Autobots for attacking Earth by giving the [[Stunticon (G1)|Stunticons]] fake sigils and sending them on a mayhem spree. Dressed in snazzy robes to hide their identities, Rumble and Frenzy then began fanning the flames by preaching openly against the Autobots in human cities. Their cover was blown, however, when [[Inferno (G1)|Inferno]] and [[Hot Spot (G1)|Hot Spot]] washed the fake insignia off the Decepticons. In the late 1990s, Starscream forged a clandestine alliance with the Prime Minister of [[Japan]], promising that the country would be safe from attack by the Decepticons if they were allowed to freely and harmlessly collect energy within its borders, in secret from the rest of the world. Naturally, however, Starscream had no intention of actually honoring this agreement, and sent Rumble and Frenzy to the bottom of the sub-oceanic [[Pacific Ring of Fire|Japan Trench]], where they used their piledrivers to stimulate the tectonic plates of the trench and cause small earthquakes throughout Japan. As Starscream predicted, the quakes supplied massive amounts of energy for the Decepticons to gather, but were perceived as natural occurrences by the populace. Megatron was not impressed by the scheme, however, suspecting the Autobots would soon realize the truth... and he was, of course, completely right. When Optimus Prime and a team of Autobots arrived to investigate and caught the Decepticons in the act, Megatron had Rumble and Frenzy kick things into overdrive, causing a catastrophic quake that devastated Tokyo and covered the Decepticons' escape. The quake was so powerful that it actually threatened to sink the entire island of Japan, but before that could come to pass, Hound confronted Rumble and Frenzy and overpowered them by confusing them with his holograms. {{storylink|Activation}}
