==Synopsis==

In orbit around [[Earth|the planet]], a [[stasis pod]] is clipped by a piece of space debris, causing the pod to descend to the surface. [[Tarantulas (BW)|Tarantulas]] and [[Megatron (BW)/Beast Wars cartoon continuity|Megatron]] detect this, and dispatch [[Scorponok (BW)|Scorponok]] and [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] to capture it.

Meanwhile, [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] happens to be scouting the landing area in his [[beast mode]], observing that the local raw [[energon]] deters the [[Predacon (BW)|Predacons]] from properly fortifying the terrain. He witnesses the pod descending and, unable to radio for support, goes to recover the pod by himself. In another area, [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] sees the pod and, after radioing the news to [[Tigatron]], heads to where he anticipates the pod will land.

Rhinox is first to reach the pod, but finds that because of the local energon, his [[robot mode]] is in risk of damage from prolonged exposure to the energon radiation. Worse, the [[protoform]] within the pod could expire if the pod itself isn't repaired soon. Cheetor then arrives at the pod's crash site.

Meanwhile, Tigatron freezes Scorponok's journey to the stasis pod, but Blackarachnia paralyzes him with a dose of her [[cyber venom]].

At the pod, Rhinox tells Cheetor that his body contains [[Locking chip|a component]] the pod needs to save the protoform. Cheetor voluntarily deactivates to allow Rhinox to harvest the hardware that will protect the new [[Maximal]] from energon damage. While in deep sleep, Cheetor envisions himself learning about the concept of a Transformer [[spark]] from Rhinox. After Cheetor reactivates, a tense Rhinox installs the chip and gives the dormant Transformer a second chance.

Blackarachnia arrives and exchanges trash talk as she battles Cheetor, who uses his robot mode conservatively. Cheetor manages to shove her own venom dart into her forehead, knocking her out. Next, Cheetor faces [[Waspinator (BW)|Waspinator]] and [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]]. With his robot mode pushed to the max, Cheetor uses his beast mode to draw the two fliers away.

Rhinox tries to interface his own systems with the stasis pod to assist the protoform, but is disconnected by feedback and left trapped in his own beast mode.

Cheetor fries Waspinator with some maneuvering around one of the local natural energon geysers. However, Terrorsaur is able to score a direct hit on Cheetor, and proceeds to the now-unprotected pod. At the last possible moment, the pod scans a bird circling overhead, providing the biological information needed to complete the new Maximal.

The fresh-from-case avian Transformer drags Terrorsaur away from the crash site. His attempts to fry the bird with gunfire are dodged. Announcing her name to be [[Airazor (BW)|Airazor]], the new Maximal transforms and blasts the Predacon to pieces.

Back at the ''[[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]'', Rhinox and Cheetor introduce the rest of the Maximals to their new friend.

At that time, a wise man was able to contain the plague's spores and contain them within a star, but no one person had enough wisdom to destroy the plague completely. Prime gambled that the accumulated wisdom contained within the Matrix itself would be enough, and released it, which indeed destroyed the Hate Plague.

When Megatron destroys [[Superion Maximus]]'s brother, he unlocks the living seal on the Super Energon pool and awakens the remaining Combiners. While Superion Maximus is aghast at his brother's destruction, the Decepticon combiners are merely curious about who managed to reactivate them. Megatron declared that the Super Energon was his and that he was master of all Decepticons. {{Storylink|Ambition}}

Superion Maximus protested that the Super Energon belonged to all Transformers as Megatron jumped into the pool, changing into Galvatron once again. When the Autobot combiner tries to attack reborn Decepticon leader to no avail, Galvatron orders the two Decepticon combiners to give chase as Superion Maximus flees. Later, Superion confronts the two Decepticons, saying that they've been protecting the Super Energon for millions of years now, so why do they let one transformer have control of it all. Bruticus Maximus eventually paid for his treachery when a vengeful Superion Maximus attacked both Decepticon combiners. Surprised by the Autobot combiner's ferocity, both Decepticons were caught off-guard at first, until they over-confidently held him down, which proved to be their downfall. Superion launched all of his limbs at Constructicon Maximus, pinning against a wall, as Superion's central component [[Storm Jet (Energon)|Storm Jet]] crushed the Decepticon combiner's spark, killing him.

Angered, Bruticus Maximus destroyed Superion's limbs, then began crushing him. Just as it seemed hopeless, a ghost-like entity appeared and shot off Bruticus' arm, freeing Superion. It was image of Superion's older brother. ==In the beginning==

Before the dawn of time, Order and Chaos existed within an extradimensional entity known as the [[One]]. He created twin astral beings to reign over the cosmos: Primus and Unicron. Their nature differed, as Primus' lifeforce (aka the [[Allspark (dimension)|Allspark]]) was a ''multiversal singularity''; existing across all Transformers realities at once (see note below), whereas Unicron existed in only one dimension at a time but could travel relatively freely between them. Primus was the Lord of Light and Order, and Unicron, the Lord of Darkness and Chaos. Unicron sought to devour everything that exists and become one with [[The Void]] at the end of all things.

In combat, Primus was no match for Unicron. But Primus did manage to trap both his and Unicron's essences inside metallic planetoids. Over time, they learned to shape these prisons. Unicron formed his into a planet able to not only devour all in its path, but also capable of Transforming into a likeness of his old self. Primus, meanwhile became the mechanical planet of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. Knowing that his ancient enemy still lived, Primus created the [[13 original Transformers]] from the material of the newly created planet. To the very first of these 13, named [[Prima]], Primus bestowed the [[Matrix of Leadership|Matrix]], containing his essence. These Transformers would, in time, grow strong in number, knowledge, and power, and be able to defeat Unicron.

==War of the balance==

The first conflict between Primus and Unicron occured shortly after the creation of the first 13 Transformers. One of the original 13, who would ever afterwards be known as the [[Fallen]], betrayed Primus and became an alcolyte of Unicron. Many of the first 13 were destroyed in this great battle before Unicron and the Fallen were sucked into a [[black hole]] and sealed away in a extra-dimensional limbo.

The two brothers shared a mental link. So long as Primus hid himself in slumber, so did Unicron also sleep. Their war ended, for a time, in stalemate.

Eventually, in one version of Generation 1 continuity [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]], [[Jazz]], and [[Bumblebee]] found themselves transported to the center of [[Cybertron_(planet)|Cybertron]]. In a battle with [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]]'s [[Pretender]]s, a laser blast ricocheted off Grimlock and struck the essence of the sleeping Primus, causing a multiverse-shaking Primal Scream that woke Unicron and alerted him to Primus' location.

The battle between Primus and Unicron began anew. Though Unicron would sometimes be defeated, this is always temporary, and there is a whole multiverse of realities to consume. When Unicron is destroyed in one reality, he will travel to another, ready to eat again. Primus will always be waiting, hoping to incapacitate Unicron and preserve existence.

It has been suggested that both of them are, in fact, necessary for the multiverse to exist in stability.

==The Evolution of the Primus/Unicron Myth ==

The Primus/Unicron backstory has evolved and been rewritten a good number of times since it first originated in the Marvel Comics. The version above is the current iteration, which has slowly solidified across a wide swath of media beginning around the time of [[Armada]]) Before the Primus/Unicron mythos reached its present form it went through several distinct versions in the Marvel G1 Comics and elsewhere.

The first time we ever heard the Primus/Unicron backstory it in the UK comic continuity, from Unicron himself. After his destruction during the events of ''[[The Transformers: The Movie]]'', his head floated through space and crashed on the planet [[Junkion (planet)|Junk]]. There, he enslaved the inhabitants to recreate his old body from their world. When the bount-um... freelance peacekeeping agent [[Death's Head]] challenged him on the astral plane, Unicron shared the story of his origin thusly:

At the dawn of the universe, when Unicron was a primal force of evil, the only one who could stand against him and his [[Dark Armies]] was Primus, Lord of the [[Light Gods]]. (Note the plural.) Primus and his fellow Light Gods stood against Unicron and his Dark Armies. Events then played out roughly as described above.

The third time the story was told was by Primus when he gathered all his children together to prepare for Unicron's coming. Here we learn for the first time that Unicron predated the current universe. Unicron had destroyed the previous universe and then slept peacefully, alone with the void. But he had not been thorough enough and some bits of the "old realms" survived. They reacted and caused The Big Bang. The sentient core of this new universe recognized the threat of Unicron and so created Primus to be his counterpart
and guardian of the new creation.

The first modern retelling of their origin in the DK Transformers: Ultimate Guide (which tended to focus on the then current Dreamwave continuity) added a new twist with "The One" a self-contained being of balanced Order and Chaos. He was curious and so created Unicron to explore the new-born Universe for him. Then he sub-divided Unicron and created Primus out of him. As Primus achieved consciousness he realized Unicron had become corrupted and was now a force for Chaos. Primus thus took on the role of champion of Order and creation to balance things and protect existence from Unicron.

After the Primal Scream, Unicron headed directly towards Cybertron. He created three [[Heralds]] to send ahead of him and prepare the Transformers for his arrival: [[Hook, Line, and Sinker]]. He also borrowed a version of Galvatron from another dimension's future in which he was successful in devouring Cybertron.

Unicron placed a mental command in some Transformers, generating a cult of Autobots and Decepticons. Unicron was so unimaginably large that the sight of him froze both Transformer factions into inaction. Unicron, disappointed that victory was this simple, tore apart the planet's surface. In his first documented appearance, Unicron was known as a giant Transformer which devoured everything in his path. After the Battle of Autobot City, [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] and several heavily damaged Decepticons (the [[Insecticon (G1)|Insecticons]] as well as [[Skywarp (G1)|Skywarp]] and [[Thundercracker (G1)|Thundercracker]]) were dumped in space. Unicron reformatted Megatron into [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] and out of the damaged Decepticons, he created [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]], [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]], and Scourge's [[Sweeps]]. He ordered them to destroy the Matrix.

Galvatron returned with the Matrix, but intended to use it to make Unicron his slave. Unicron ate him. After eating two of Cybertron's moons, Unicron attacked Cybertron. Unicron had no explained origin in the movie, but later, in the third season episode "[[Call of the Primitives]]", his history in the animated continuity was revealed - Unicron was created near the beginning of time by an ancient genius called [[Primacron]], to destroy the universe for him to remake in his own image. But Unicron decided that he would be the one to rule the universe, not Primacron, and rebelled against his creator, voyaging out into the vast expanse of space.

His destruction in the movie was not the last the Transformers saw of Unicron - the ghost of Starscream reactivated his severed head and entered into a bargain with Unicron, performing three labours in exchange for the restoration of his body. [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] and Scourge gathered for Unicron [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]]'s eyes (breaking one and replacing it with one from [[Trypticon]]) and Trypticon's [[Transformation Cog]], and then connected his head to Cybertron, which would become Unicron's new body. Starscream demanded that Unicron restore his body so that he could complete the connection; but once Unicron had done so, Starscream double-crossed him and refused to finish the job. Unicron's head was subsequently blown off into space by an explosion instigated by the Autobots.

Later, when searching for a new supply of anti-electrons, the Decepticons ventured to Unicron's head, where Cyclonus and Scourge accidentally awoke the slumbering demi-god. At the same time, Grimlock - who had gained super-intelligence through an infusion of anti-electrons - had constructed from pieces of Unicron's head the [[Technobot]]s, and one of their number, [[Strafe (G1)|Strafe]], severed enough of Unicron's neural connections to shut him back down.

Unlike the comics portrayal, Unicron is shown to be a large transforming machine and not a godlike being.

Following his destruction in 2006, Unicron's severed lifeforce was displaced in time to Earth's distant past, prior to the Beast Wars. It rested in the pit caused by its own impact, quiescent for many millennia, until found by a Predacon known as the Hunter around the Machine Era.

Taking the name [[Shokaract]], he used this Dark Essence to conquer, ruling over an apocalyptic 32nd Century future.

Due to severe time-travel mischief, the events leading up to Shokaracts's timeline were averted when the Dark Essence fled Earth from the Beast Wars.

The Dark Essence possessed only rudimentary intelligence, lacking the full force of Unicron's personality. It appears Unicron's Spark remained with his severed head (which has a back-up spark chamber) in 2005, while his power was displaced in time.

Is it unclear if this displacement was accidental, or represents an attemt by Unicron to preserve his power.

Shokaract contained the Dark Essence within a [[Matrix of Conquest]] from which he drew his powers. This is very similar to the relationship between Primus and the Matrix of Leadership, where The Matrix holds the majority of his power, leaving Primus himself weak. The Matrix of Conquest appears to be unique to Shokaract's timeline branch, and would not exist outside of it.

After the events of ''The Transformers: The Movie'', Unicron's lifeforce (the green energy seen exploding from his body) raced across time and space until it landed on the distant world of [[Gaia]], riddling itself into the planet's surface. His lifeforce caused many strange phenomenon all over the planet, and was eventually dubbed [[Angolmois]] energy.

It proved to be a powerful energy source, leaving [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]] to attempt to harvest the energy for himself. Using his massive spacecraft, the [[Nemesis (BWII)|Nemesis]], he sucked all the the Angolmois energy out of the planet and into the craft. However, after the interference of [[Leo Prime]] and [[Lio Junior]], all the Angolmois energy was sealed into capsules and ejected them from the Nemesis as it self-destructed.

[[Big Convoy]] and [[Magmatron]] then raced to collect the angolmois capsules, as their energy effects were wreaking havoc on planets all over the galaxy. They eventually collected all the capsules only to find themselves attacked by the mysterious, and freakish, [[Blentron]]s. The Blentrons proved nearly invincible and stole the capsules from each team. They released the Angolmois energy and allowed it to possess Galvatron's dead body. Unicron was reborn once more.

Unicron then absorbed the last remaining ounce of stray Angolmois energy, the Blentrons, and left to settle his score with Cybertron. The [[Maximal Elder]], [[Great Convoy]], attempted to hold Unicron off with the entire Maximal armada, but Unicron's fiery serpent mode proved too much and he effortlessly destroyed the armada and Great Convoy along with it. Unicron then possessed [[Vector Sigma]], the mother computer of [[Cybertron]], effectively possessing the planet. He then morphed the planet into his new body, fulfilling the goal he originally attempted back in 2006 (or 2010, since this is Japanese continuity).

Unicron briefly exited Vector Sigma to deal with the last remaining Cybertronian resistance. Big Convoy, his Maximal new recruits, Leo Prime and Magmatron all fought side-by-side against Unicron, but all they managed to do was stall him. Big Convoy then powered up his Big Cannon with his own [[Energon Matrix|Matrix]], transforming it into the Matrix Buster. Big Convoy shot Unicron with the weapon, the powerful blast seemingly destroying the Chaos Bringer. Unicron's spirit was then evicted from Vector Sigma, returning Cybertron to normal.

When the Mini-Cons found their way to Earth, they were followed by the Autobots and Decepticons. Unicron dispatched an agent, [[Sideways]], a mysterious agent that served as the vessel for Unicron's spark in this reality, to carry on his work. Sideways escalated the conflict by manipulating control of the three Mini-Cons weapons - the [[Star Saber (Armada)|Star Saber]], the [[Skyboom]] shield and the [[Requiem Blaster]], the three keys that were then used to awaken Unicron.

Unbeknownst to the Autobot heroes, Unicron's body had fallen into a state of decay. Operating at low, almost undetectable energy levels, Unicron was rotting away in what was called the "Graveyard of the Universe". A spark from the past would be enough to change all of this. Alpha-Q, a Terrorcon-related alien being from a far away world, Planet Q, would awaken within the dying giant and discover that Unicron's cells had the ability to restore life, just as it did to create the mini-cons eons before.

Alpha-Q, having had his own homeworld detonated and consumed by Unicron in the past sought to restore Unicron enough to manipulate his body into restoring the world and galaxy that he lost. Alpha-Q used the cells to restore himself to a suit of armor, as well as create Sparkless drones of his former race to carry out his deed: collect energon. As energon was collected, Unicron grew stronger.

However, Megatron's corpse and spark remained within Unicron, and slowly siphoned off some of the gathered Energon, allowing him to be reborn in his own new body. Alpha Q jettisoned Unicron's head and escaped in it, while Megatron took over Unicron's body, and continued to gather Energon in order to rebuild Unicron to use as his ultimate weapon. As the climax of this plan neared, a joint attack by Alpha Q, the Autobots and their human allies saw all of Earth's Energon channeled into Unicron's head, which Alpha Q then rammed into Unicron's body.

The positively-charged Energon of Earth reacted with the negatively-charged Energon running through Unicron, tearing open a fissure in reality leading to a new area of space where planets Unicron consumed were recreated, and sustained through the Energon radiated from Unicron's head, which had now become a glowing red sun.

Unicron's body, damaged once more, lay in the dark reaches near the fissure, and the Decepticons began to raid Alpha Q's new planets for the Energon necessary to revive Unicron again. This time, they succeeded, and Megatron directed Unicron's body to retrieve his head, extinguishing the Energon Sun and killing Alpha Q in the process. But the power of Unicron proved too much for Megatron to control, as Unicron began to take over Megatron's body. In the ensuing battle between Unicron and the super-powered Optimus Supreme, Unicron's body was successfully destroyed.

But unbeknownst to anyone, he lived on in two forms: his miniscule Spark, and his consciousness, which lay buried in Megatron's mind. With quiet, subconscious nudging, Unicron led Megatron to a massive reservoir of "[[Super Energon]]" beneath Cybertron's surface, which transformed him into Galvatron upon his first exposure.

After a series of failed battles, Galvatron proceeded to expose himself to the Super Energon once again, and this time grew to a gigantic height. Unicron seized control of his body again for a new vessel and set out to rejoin with his Spark, but a Primus-empowered Optimus Supreme engaged him in battle once more, and drew all of Unicron's consciousness out of Galvatron and sealed it within his own Spark.

Enraged, Galvatron prepared to destroy Unicron's Spark, but it merged with him, enlarging him again, leading to another battle with Optimus Supreme, this time bolstered by the combined energy of all his troops' Sparks. Meanwhile, Primus merged with the Super Energon, creating a foundling sun which arrived at the site of the battle. Taking control of his body for a brief moment, Galvatron made the decision to plunge himself into the infant sun to rid himself of Unicron's posession. The super energon mass, having now recieved Unicron's spark, ignited into a powerful red sun which gave new life to Alpha Q's worlds.

Primus' plan to trap Unicron in the heart of a new sun failed, and instead resulted in a [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]] (or Unicron Singularity) that threatened the multiverse. His heralds [[Ramjet (Universe)|Ramjet]] and [[Nemesis Prime (Universe)|Nemesis Prime]] travelled to Cybertron to unleash the [[Dead Matrix]] upon Primus' vulnerable essence.

Vector Prime was able to defeat Ramjet and send him into the black hole in which Unicron was trapped, while [[Sentinel Maximus]] with the help of [[Omega Prime]] was able to stop Nemesis Prime from unleashing the power of the [[Dead Matrix]] on Primus. However, [[Soundwave (Cybertron)|Soundwave]] and [[Laserbeak (Cybertron)|Laserbeak]] were able to retrieve the Dead Matrix, and they brought it to ground zero of the Unicron Singularity. With some adjustments, the Dead Matrix was able to extract Unicron's spark from the black hole, looking much the way it did when it took over Galvatron at the end of Energon, and, after the lifeforce consumed the planet [[Yst]], the Dark God exploded from the remains reborn.

Her crew at the start of the [[Beast Wars]] appears to have been newly assembled and the captain, [[Optimus Primal]], was new to command. However, the Axalon itself had already been in service for at least a while. The [[Beast Machines]]-era [[Dinobots (BM)|Dinobot]] [[Airraptor]] once served aboard her before the Beast Wars as interplanetary surveyor and navigator.

The trip was brief and the crash, caused by Megatron, ensured that the Axalon would never fly again. Later, it was further destroyed by Megatron's forces, as [[Rampage (BW)|Rampage]] and some of [[Tarantulas|Tarantulas's]] spider drones pulled it off the cliff that it was straddling. After which its remains were salvaged as best as possible to help fortify the [[Ark]] against Predacon attack.

It would appear the Maximals left the remains of the Axalon behind when they returned to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. In both "[[Primeval Dawn]]" and in [[Dreamwave]]'s comic book series, we see abandoned segments of the Maximal encampment.

As the ''Axalon'' was a science vessel, it is scantily armed and even then primarily for defensive purposes. However, its main forward plasma cannon has enough power to cripple Predacon ships (such as the [[Darksyde|''Darksyde'']]) with a well-targeted shot.

To this end, he utilised the Insecticons' unique talents- Bombshell used one of his Cerebro-shells to take the mind of one of the Dam's technical staff, [[Ricky Vasquez]], Shrapnel's electrical powers were used to remote-operate the Dam's electrical machinery, and Kickback kicked a door down.

When the [[Aerialbot (G1)|Aerialbots]] on their first mission intervened, both the Insecticons and their three Strike Plane comrades, also having travelled to Earth, fared badly against them. Shrapnel's antennae were twisted, courtesy of Air Raid's torque rifle, and ultimately Ricky Vasquez' free will and love of his daughter were enough to allow him to overcome Bombshell's cerebro-shell entirely, pulling Megatron's trigger and destroying the drill. Battered, Shrapnel and Kickback somewhat unceremoniously carried a still fulminating Megatron off into the distance. Meanwhile, however, Bombshell, having seen an opportunity in his small insect-size, attached himself to the Aerialbot leader Silverbolt, and returned with him to the Ark in secret.

Good question, but I don't think so. Octane didn't really LEAVE the Decepticons, since Galvatron just went kinda nuts and kicked him out. And I don't think he really joined the Autobots so much as he befriended Sandstorm.

I really don't think Ravage belongs in this category. Ravage was only using the Maximals, recall that he planned to leave "no witnesses," in other words, kill them all. And switching allegiance from the Tripedacus Council to Megatron is still internal Predacon doings.

Light Units are the weakest humanoid-shaped type with minimal armour and firepower, they also possess only rudimentary intelligence and combat skill. Although small in both size and threat, Light Units are effective in groups, but only when a [[Medium Unit]] or [[Command Unit]] is present to give orders. Should their squad leader be destroyed, Light Units have a tendency to quickly become disorganised. Their reaction time is very poor, not noticing approaching [[Autobot]] vehicles until they are right ontop of them.

Light Units' only weapon is a small laser-blaster in place of their right hand. This weapon is somewhat ineffective. However, Light Units will not waver from attacking once they have located a target; the only thing that will make them cease is their own destruction. This means that, if ignored, a Light Unit can chip away at an Autobot's armor considerably. Light Units can still be used as "runners" to acquire reinforcements, but they are not as fast as Medium Units. Light Units keep on fighting regardless of what goes on around them (such as getting a Limpet mine stuck to them) or how many of their comrades are destroyed. If a Light Unit tries to engage in melee combat with an Autobot, they are easily batted away.

One of the original team of Decepticons that accompanied [[Megatron]] on the attack of the ''[[Ark]]'' spacecraft, Ravage was reformatted by [[Teletraan-1]] as an audiocassette to better blend in for operations based on Earth. Ravage served loyally as a Decepticon spy. He was one of the first Transformers to have been encountered by a human, as workers investigating a destroyed power station fell afoul of Ravage who pounced upon them and frightened them away.

Shortly thereafter, Ravage accompanied Soundwave on an infiltration mission to gather data from Teletraan 1. Though Soundwave was discovered, Ravage was captured in an energy net and held captive. The Decepticon spy figured into a disinformation plot hatched by the Autobots, who purposely leaked the presence of a rocket fuel depository in the outlying desert. In truth, there was no rocket base -- Autobot [[Hound]] projected a holographic illusion in the hopes of luring the Decepticons into a trap. The Autobots allowed Ravage to escape and report back to Megatron, who easily saw through the ruse.

Ravage is one of the few Decepticon warriors who was granted amnesty at the end of the Great War and reformatted into a Predacon. He was sent by the [[Tripredacus Council]] to capture [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]], clean up any messes he might have made, and deal with the rest of the beast warriors. Ravage made the trip to prehistoric Earth in a specially modified stealth [[Transwarp]] space ship. He successfully contacted the [[Maximal]]s and allied with them to capture Megatron. Due to the stealth capabilities of his ship, and the fact that [[Tarantulas]] was also an agent of the council, Ravage and the Maximals easily captured Megatron and imprisoned him.

Megatron, however, had one more card to play. He knew that Ravage wasn't going to let any of the Beast warriors live, and also knew he had the one thing that would turn Ravage to his side. Using a fragment from the [[Golden Disk]], Megatron played Ravage the message on it from the original [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]. Ravage, still driven by loyalty to ''his'' Megatron, joined the [[Predacon (BW)|Predacons]] and turned on the Maximals.

His latest treachery was short lived. During the assault on the [[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]], [[Rattrap]] infiltrated his ship and caused an explosion that destroyed the vessel and Ravage himself. Ravage's part in the Binaltech storyline is a bit more complicated than past incarnations. Several years prior to the line's continuity, government-run [[Intelligence and Information Institute]] (or Triple I) unearths a msyterious black box during an archaeological dig. After years of probing, the container, dubbed "Schrödinger's Box" by the group's scientists, was revealed to be the flight recorder of Predacon Ravage's stealth ship, containing a copy of the feline's personality and memory engrams. When the scientists found a way to communicate with this personality, it offered them its knowledge of future events in exchange for a new body. Triple-I agreed, and used a fake Binaltech project to provide their part of the bargain. However, to truly bring the new Ravage to life, Triple-I stole the present-day Ravage - who had been somehow captured by the [[Earth Defense Command]] and stasis-locked into his cassette mode - and implanted him into the new Ravage, thereby 'fusing' the old and new Ravages into one.

This new Ravage, however, had no intention of fulfilling his end of the bargain and, after eliminating his benefactors and learning to his shock that history did ''not'' change in his faction's favor, decided to rectify his mistake. First on his agenda was his former commander, Megatron; stealing an Autobot shuttle, he located and repaired the [[Kronosphere]] and - during a decisive battle between Megatron's and Optimus Prime's forces that would have normally ended with the Autobots being forced off of Cybertron and into their moon bases - turned the weapon on his own faction, trapping Megatron and his crew in a space-time rift. This alteration in the timeline served two purposes: first, it would give the Autobots the chance to retake Cybertron, which would then lead to them having to face off against the oncoming [[Unicron]] alone, severely weakening them in the process. The second, and more important, purpose was to keep Megatron alive and in good health, thus preventing him from becoming the insane [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]], and allowing him to lead the Decepticons to victory over the battle-weary Autobots. Starscream may have once been compassionate, he may once have known what true friendship is, but all that has been replaced, scab for scab, with the lessons of Megatron's abuse.

Accompanying Megatron's forces to [[Earth]], Starscream was deliberately made to be the last of the Decepticons to acquire a personal partner Mini-Con. Infuriated by this mistreatment, Starscream's resent for and hatred of Megatron made him a chink in the armor of the Decepticons that could be easily exploited by the manipulative [[Sideways]].

Initially, Sideways coerced Starscream into a duel with Megatron, which he promptly lost. A short time later, [[Thrust (Armada)|Thrust]], acting under the instructions Sideways, further exploited Starscream by making him the patsy in his latest plan. Starscream was given the [[Star Saber (Armada)|Star Saber]] and allowed to run riot to draw the [[Autobot]]s out of their base, but was then abandoned on the battlefield so that the other Decepticons could invade the base and steal the [[Requiem Blaster]].

Surviving to return to the Decepticon base, Starscream went on a rampage with the sword and disowned the Decepticons, siding up with the wary Autobots, not out of any desire to do good, but simply out of sheer hatred for Megatron. After a clash with [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]] and a trip to [[Mars]] with [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]], Starscream befriended the Autobots' [[human]] allies, particularly [[Alexis]], and then gave the Autobots access to the Decepticon base, resulting in a raid that freed all the captive Mini-Cons. Starscream's defection was not a smooth process, however; he constantly clashed with his new teammates over morals and battle strategies, but nonetheless proved a capable, and on at least some level, willing Autobot.

Soon thereafter, Sideways and Thrust approached Starscream, planting seeds of doubt in his mind. This eventually caused him to steal the [[Skyboom (Armada)|Skyboom shield]] from the Autobots and return to the Decepticon fold, giving the Decepticons possession of all three Mini-Con weapons.

Subsequently, Starscream was among the Transformers injured battling [[Nemesis Prime (Armada)|Nemesis Prime]], and who then received "[[Powerlinx]]" power boosts from their Mini-Cons. Starscream gained a new, blue coloration that he commented made him look like his contemporary, [[Thundercracker (Armada)|Thundercracker]], with disgust just ''dripping'' from his tone. Returning to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], Starscream pursued Thrust into the depths of the planet when the turncoat tactician revealed his treachery by stealing the Requiem Blaster and Skyboom shield. Starscream took a fatal shot from the Requiem Blaster as he battled Thrust in the subterranean tunnels, but the Mini-Con [[High Wire]] used his powers to restructure the timeline, saving Starscream (and throwing the human kids back in time, and.. well it's comfusing).

Thrust escaped and delivered the weapons to Sideways and his master, [[Unicron]], presently disguised as Cybertron's moon. Following Thrust through a warp gate and briefly reuniting with Alexis, Starscream entered the belly of the beast along with Hot Shot and [[Wheeljack (Armada)|Wheeljack]], but the unlikely trio were stymied by Unicron's [[Bug Drone|internal defenses]] and failed to stop Sideways from using the weapons to begin Unicron's reactivation.

Megatron - now Galvatron - was unwilling to acknowledge Unicron's threat, dismissing it as an Autobot trick, but Starscream knew the threat was real, and that only united under a true leader like [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] - whose strength of character and nobility had touched Starscream during his time with the Autobots - could the Transformers hope to stop him. To show Galvatron the error of his ways, he challenged him to a duel in which he allowed Galvatron to run him through with the Star Saber. Galavatron realised what happened and demanded to know what possessed Starscream to do such a thing.

Starscream told him that he tried to gain Galvatron's respect, but nothing was ever good enough, no matter how many battles he fought, his leader always found fault. Optimus Prime treated his men with respect, and was thus a leader of integrity, unlike Galvatron. But that didn't matter anymore, and after tearing the Starsaber out with his bear hands, Starscream turned his full firepower onto Unicron. The Chaos Bringer promptly obliterated him, to the shock of both Galvatron and Optimus Prime. When the dust settled, Galvatron stood reflecting upon Starscream's last words, and as a gesture, handed his enemy the Star Saber.

Ten years after Starscream's death, when Megatron seized control of Unicron's body by ousting its former occupant, the alien being [[Alpha Quintesson]], the evicted extra-terrestrial needed an assassin to eliminate Megatron so that he could return to his original task of recreating the worlds destroyed by Unicron. Using what little [[energon]] he had left, Alpha Q recreated another victim of Unicron - Starscream. However, Alpha Q ran out of energon before the process could be completed, leaving Starscream incomplete - his memory blank, and his body unstable, constantly shifting from a physical to an ethereal form, able to teleport by "ghosting" from location to location.

Alpha Q unleashed Starscream upon [[Ocean City]], where he battled Optimus Prime and then tracked Megatron back to Unicron's body. Even his awesome new abilities proved no match for the Decepticon leader, who used Unicron's power to brainwash Starscream, turning him into his right-hand man and most loyal subordinate. Rather ironically, Megatron now treated Starscream with far more respect than previously, even entrusting him with some of the most difficult missions.

Later, when Megatron became Galvatron again through immersion in a subterranean reservoir of [[super energon]] on Cybertron, Starscream was allowed to do the same as a reward for his loyalty; the influx of power stabilised his physical form, while allowing him to retain his teleporting powers. When Galvatron was subsequently possessed by Unicron, [[Primus]] used the super energon to create a sun, and Galvatron plunged himself into it in order to contain Unicron's spark within it. Starscream seemingly sacrificed himself as well, diving into the sun alongside his leader.

A decade after the [[Powerlinx Battles]] (as they were called), when [[Primus]]'s plan to contain Unicron's spark at the core of the energon sun failed, the sun collapsed, becoming a deadly [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]] that threatened Cybertron. Freed from his imprisonment in the sun by Megatron, Starscream's mind was his own again, and his body was refurbished into yet another new form.

Megatron began his campaign to acquire the legendary [[Cyber Planet Key]]s by stealing the map that showed their locations from the ancient Transformer, [[Vector Prime]] while Starscream created a diversion that kept the other Autobots busy. During the fight, Starscream sent [[Landmine (Energon)|Landmine]] tumbling into the black hole, but Vector Prime saved him at the last moment, opening a dimensional gate that teleported him to Earth.

The Autobots and Decepticons followed, and when it was deduced that the Cyber Planet Keys' focusing device, the [[Omega Lock]], was hidden somewhere on the planet, Megatron charged Starscream with locating it while he focused on acquiring the Cyber Planet Key of [[Velocitron]], the Speed Planet.

Little did Megatron suspect, however, that Starscream had evolved a new ambition - now, he sought to oust Megatron and become the leader of the Decepticons, then the universe. Unlike [[Starscream (G1)|those with similar goals]], however, Starscream was smart enough to keep his intentions to himself, quietly working to achieve his goals through subtle means. While on a brief mission to attack [[Red Alert (Armada)|Red Alert]] on Velocitron, Starscream was able to secretly switch Megatron's map with a copy that would play an important role later, and in an attempt to acquire more troops loyal to him, recruited the disillusioned Autobot [[Mudflap]] into his service on Earth. He later crossed paths once again with the mysterious [[Sideways]], who saw in him the best chance to achieve his own goals.

With the Autobots having successfully acquired the Omega Lock and the Cyber Planet Keys from Velocitron and the [[Jungle Planet]], Starscream realised it was time to step up his agenda. His duplicate planet map led Megatron and the other Decepticons to a dead sector of space and sealed them within a metal sphere, freeing Starscream to search for the third Cyber Planet Key, from Earth itself. Encountering the Autobot monster-hunter, [[Crosswise (Cybertron)|Crosswise]] - one of the ancient Transformers whose ancestors had come to Earth with the Cyber Planet Key eons ago, who had recently been reactivated - Starscream discovered a vast underground holding cell in which Crosswise had imprisoned the ancient Decepticons of his time.

Liberating them, Starscream took command of their forces and began a planetwide search for the Cyber Planet Key, fighting back the Autobot and human military resistance. The Autobots had Crosswise's ally [[Evac]] recover the key from its hiding place in preparation for a retreat to Velocitron, but Starscream fought his way through the entire Autobot army and confronted Optimus Prime himself, successfully purloining the lock and all three keys by endangering the Autobots' human allies and drawing Prime out of the fight.

Retreating to a small volcanic island in the South Pacific, Starscream attempted to harness the power of the Cyber Planet Keys. Megatron, meanwhile, had been freed by [[Scourge (Cybertron)|Scourge]], and immediately sought retribution, only to wind up clashing with the Autobots first. The extra time this afforded, along with the distraction of having Starscream's new troops (including [[Thunderblast (Decepticon)|Thunderblast]] and [[Lugnutz]]) defending him from both sides, allowed Starscream to tap the power of the keys and harness a fragment of the spark of Primus, growing to a gigantic height and besting Megatron in combat. With an extra power boost courtesy of his combination with [[Wing Saber]], Optimus Prime was able to defeat Starscream, but Sideways teleported his body away to the ancient starship [[Atlantis]] to recuperate.

When the Cyber Planet Keys were used by the Autobots to awaken Primus and tranform Cybertron into his body, Starscream successfully attempted to drain more of his power and grew to planetary size. He was defeated in one-on-one combat with Primus himself, battered into submission by Cybertron's moons, and drained of his excess power. The discovery of the fourth Cyber Planet Key on [[Gigantion]], the Giant Planet, set Starscream racing to acquire the key first, but Landmine reached it ahead of him and was able to use its power to pay him back for past indignities by growing to his size and pummelling him.

With all four Cyber Planet Keys finally acquired, Starscream challenged Megatron - now Galvatron once more - to a final battle for possession of them. So incredible were the energies released during the clash that space and time itself was rended by the final explosion, and Starscream was hurtled into to another dimension along with the interfering Sideways and [[Soundwave (Cybertron)|Soundwave]]. He would appear for one final time before a defeated Galvatron, his spirit reaching out across the dimensions to encourage him to fight on - leading Galvatron to his final demise at the hands of Optimus Prime on Earth's [[Moon (moon)|Moon]].

As the Autobots made preparations to begin their new galaxy-spanning [[space bridge]] initiative, [[Wing Saber]] - having departed from the rest of the Autobots to continue with his "loner" lifestyle - radioed Optimus to repot that he had found a lead on Starscream's trail and was pursuing it. Landmine and a reformed Mudflap departed to aid him, and somewhere out in space on a world of lava, it seems their mission to locate Starscream was a success...

Starscream was stationed in Antarctica, overseeing [[Decepticlone]] operations in recovering the [[Mini-Con storage panel]]s found in the area, using a human research center they overran as his base of operations. When the Autobots ventured too close, Starscream attacked (blowing up the hangar he was holed up in first), but was shot out of the sky and left for dead.

Having survived his initial defeat, Starscream followed the Autobots to Alaska. There he collided his starship into a mountain in an attempt to crush them, but the Autobots escaped unscathed. This also gave them the chance to infiltrate the downed ship and free the captive Mini-Con [[Aftershock]] from the control room. Starscream used his null laser cannons at full power in an attempt to finish off his foes, but only succeeded in cutting the rock face below the ship, which collapsed and sent the precariously-blanaced ship plunging into the valley below. The impact of the crash buried the bow deep into the earth, forcing the Autobots to climb their way up and out to the surface.

When the Autobots pulled free from the buried ship and got back to ground-level, Starscream attacked again. But this battle too ultimately ended in defeat, leading Optimus Prime to interrogate him as to the whereabouts of Megatron. When Starscream refused and attempted to fire his functional null ray at point-blank range, Optimus knocked him unconscious with a well-aimed punch. He then ordered Red Alert to hack the treacherous Decepticon's warp transponder, which led them to Megatron's [[Pacific Island]] base.

Immediately after crash landing on [[Earth]], Dinobot turned on Megatron, claiming the Predacon commander had led them to the wrong planet. Unfazed by Dinobot's tirade, Megatron had [[Scorponok (BW)|Scorponok]] blast him, and left him for dead. Dinobot left the Predacons and laid in wait for the Maximals to return to their base. Challenging [[Optimus Primal (BW)|Optimus]] to a duel, Dinobot was determined to lead one faction or another and gain the glory he desperately sought. {{storylink|Beast Wars, Part 1}} During the duel, Dinobot displayed a rare amount of honor, fair play, and self sacrifice and won the respect of Optimus, who asked him to join the Maximals. This didn't sit well with the other Maximals, particularly [[Rattrap (BW)|Rattrap]], but as the series went on the two became a strange sort of friends. {{storylink|Beast Wars, Part 2}}

As a Maximal, Dinobot still displayed strong Predacon tendancies. He was usually more willing to go to the extreme in terms of tactics, use whatever weapons the Maximals had, and often advocated kicking the Predacons when they were down. He also proved to be fairly introspective, and did not miss the gravity of his own situation should the Maximals ever win the Beast Wars. {{storylink|Victory (Beast Wars episode)|Victory}}

After the destruction of the [[Planet Buster]], and it became obvious that they were on Earth, Dinobot had a few crises of character. His honor and growing sense of doing the right thing were coming into direct conflict with his desires to be on the winning side and gain eternal glory. He broke into the Predacon [[Darkside|base]] and stole the golden disks from Megatron, hiding the one from Cybertron and taking the [[Vok|Alien]] disk back to the [[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]. Hiding the theft from his Maximal comrades, Dinobot agonized over the contents of the disk from Cybertron. He knew that the knowledge on the disk would make Megatron powerful enough to win the Beast Wars, and rewrite history. After this revelation, Dinobot's desire for victory and glory got the better of him and he rejoined the Predacons and gave Megatron the disk back. However, his friendship with Rattrap proved to be too strong, he couldn't eliminate the "vermin", and he once again turned on Megatron and rejoined the Maximals. {{storylink|Maximal, No More}}

Dinobot was lost. Had he fumbled his chance at being a great warrior? After contemplating suicide and getting berated by a hurt Rattrap for his betrayal, Dinobot set out to find Megatron and set things right. However, Megatron had led the Predacons to the valley occupied by the proto-humans, intending to wipe them out and change history. [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] saw the imminent attack and radioed for help before he was forced to head back to base for repairs. Dinobot responed to the call and took on all of the Predacons by himself. Ignoring the damage he took, the warnings of his own internal computer, and the danger to himself, Dinobot defeated all of the Predacons save Megatron. Mocking the weakened Dinobot, Megatron tallied the score firmly in his own favor. He had unimaginable power(i.e. the Golden Disk ), the valley was in ruins, and he had hostages. Refusing to quit, Dinobot improvised (with a wood and rock axe), snatched the disk from Megatron, and with the last of his power, shattered it with his eye beams. Jetfire is compassionate, so some Autobots feel that he could be soft on their enemies or, even worse, he may turn on them after realizing his "cold calculations" swing the other way.

Millions of years ago on Cybertron, before the war, Skyfire and [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] were good friends and fellow scientists. On a mission of exploration to prehistoric Earth, Skyfire was lost in a storm. Starscream searched, but there was no sign of his comrade. He returned home.

Millions of years later, after the Autobots and Decepticons had crashed and awoken on Earth, the Decepticons found and revived Skyfire, encased in a block of Arctic ice. Skyfire joined them due to his past friendship with Starscream, though he expressed discomfort with their methods. When Skyfire's compassion for humans led to his disobeying orders, Starscream, who had changed much in the intervening millennia, turned on his friend. Skyfire left the Decepticons and joined the Autobots, sacrificing himself to be buried beneath the ice again to stop the Decepticons' plans. The Autobots returned later to dig him up when they needed a ride down to South America. Megatron and his Decepticons were in [[Brazil]] seeking the [[Crystal of Power]], which was kept in an Aztec temple. After battling the Decepticons, Skyfire arrived at the temple to find [[Thundercracker (G1)|Thundercracker]] guarding it and the crystal inside. Thundercracker was angry at Starscream, and was willing to let Skyfire past him to destroy the crystal so long as Starscream got in trouble. Starscream overheard this and shot Skyfire in the back, knocking him out.

Early in the war on [[Earth]], [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] held the head of [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] captive, hoping to use the [[Creation Matrix]] he possessed to create a new army of Decepticons. Optimus Prime had secretly passed the energies of the Matrix onto the teenaged [[human]], [[Buster Witwicky]], so Shockwave was stopped short of giving Jetfire's constructed body life. Shockwave soon learned of the human's involvement, so he sent Jetfire after the human anyway, though the lifeless robot could do nothing more than follow orders. When Jetfire found Buster, he was accompanied by the Autobots [[Bluestreak]] and [[Bumblebee]] for his protection, but it was Buster's Creation Matrix powers that ultimately disassembled Jetfire before their eyes. Buster reassembled Jetfire, and with Bumblebee's help, changes were made to allow Buster to directly control him. {{storylink|Brainstorm!}}

However, Jetfire's programming reasserted itself, and maneuvered so wildly that Buster, riding in the cockpit, blacked out. Buster woke up inside Shockwave's base (a former [[Blackrock Industries]] plant), strapped to a machine ready to drill the Creation Matrix out of him. In the meantime, knowing that the Autobots were eavesdropping on him, Shockwave sent Jetfire to drop a fake Optimus Prime head at a disclosed location for the Autobots to find. The fake head attached itself to Optimus Prime's body and began attacking the Autobots, causing many injuries. At the last moment, Buster was able to control Jetfire once again, knocking out Shockwave, and delivering the true Optimus Prime head to the Autobots, allowing for them a costly victory. {{storylink|Prime Time!}}

With Optimus Prime fully restored, Jetfire was quickly given life and joined the Autobots, the [[Rite of the Autobrand]] marking him as one of their rank. When Bumblebee, depressed, had left the Autobots and gotten himself attacked by the Decepticons, Jetfire eagerly came to his rescue. Later, Jetfire helped the Autobots approach the Decepticon base to steal information that would allow them to build their own [[combiner]]s. He also accompanied [[Donny Finkleberg]] to the spot where Finkleberg claimed seven Autobots had crossed over from [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], though they found nothing but traces of oil.

After the death of Optimus Prime, Jetfire voted for the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobot]] [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] to take command. He later seemed to regret this decision, offering to help [[Blaster]] usurp him, and when the rivalry ended in a duel staged on Earth's moon, he was among the Autobots who watched. When the Autobots were ambushed by the entire Decepticon army, he was blasted out of the sky by both [[Vortex]] and [[Laserbeak (G1)|Laserbeak]].

Events conspired behind the scenes, building up to an unknown crescendo, and Jetfire was suspicious. Putting his already-shakey trustworthiness on the line, he met up with [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] in secret to discuss the looming front of darkness. However, the source of these machinations, [[the Fallen]], had leaked their correspondence to [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]], who held a grudge against the scientist.

Grimlock assaulted Jetfire at his intended meeting place, but both were overwhelmed by the Fallen and dragged far inside [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] and strapped to a four-paneled contraption in the [[Well of All Sparks]]. Jetfire pleaded with Bludgeon not to again unleash the powers that destroyed his planet, but he was ignored, and his attempts to escape were thwarted. Thanks to a distress signal sent by the remaining Technobots in the ''Calabi-Yau'', [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and the [[Wreckers]] soon arrived, released Jetfire, and defeated his captors, just before an alert system announced the arrival of Thunderwing, newly reborn.

We may never be certain of the exact circumstances behind the change from Jetfire to Skyfire. There are, however, a few known factors, and a lot of theories.

* Not all of Hasbro's ''Transformers'' product originated with [[Takara]]. The ''Macross'' Super Valkyrie, the toy that would become Jetfire, came from a company called Takatoku (who were also responsible for the toys that became [[Roadbuster]], [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]], and the [[Insecticon (G1)|deluxe Insecticons]]). Why did Hasbro market non-Takara product? [[Bob Prupis]], one of the original members of the Transformers marketing team, would frequently go to Toy Fairs in Asia, where ''"any product that really looked good that was exciting we didn't care where it came from. We did some work with Bandai, who had been working with other people, and took a few products that looked right for our line"''[http://groups.google.com/group/alt.toys.transformers/msg/94f5cb70b08a646d?hl=en&]. The Super Valkyrie, then, must have met their criteria for inclusion.

* As a larger toy, it would follow that Hasbro would want to sell Jetfire by including him in the Transformers animated series. Statements indicate that it took nine months to edit Robotech together, placing the start of production somewhere around July of 1984. So... who knows. Hot Shot alone could not lift the wreckage, and left to get some help, promising to return, but he never did. ''Torqulon'' is a semi-sentient planet which is used as an enormous psychiatric ward, and is comprised a a web-like substance which its inhabitants can control freely. [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] was tricked by a [[Quintesson]] into commiting the terminally insane [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] to Torqulon's care.

Due to Galvatron's unprecedented level of dementia, the therapists of Torqulon were unable to heal him and were forced to let Torqulon absorb Galvatron's mind (effectively lobotomizing him). However, merely touching Galvatron's mind drove the planet itself stark-raving crazy.

With the planet rapidly losing its own sanity (and the therapists losing their ability to control the planet), Galvatron broke free and traveled to Torqulon's core, which he promptly destroyed. This effectively killed the planet and released all of its patients.

The '''Quintessons''' are an ancient alien race. They are mostly mechanical beings, there are several types. The apparent leaders, The Judges, main features being a spherical body lined with five faces and tentacles along the bottom. Each face seems to have a separate personality.

Other types of Quintesson include an anthropomorphic squid-like mechanoid, and a mantis-like executioner.

==Animated series==
In ages long past, a cold and emotionless race of aliens called the Quintessons created 2 lines of sentient robots on a planet-sized factory known as [[Cybertron]]. One was a line of robots designed for domestic duties and labor (known as Autobots) and another line designed for military use (known as Decepticons). The Quintessons were exceptionally cruel to their creations, eventually leading to wide-spread rebellion, a rebellion started by the Autobot [[Alpha Trion (G1)|A3]]. Forced to flee the planet, the Quintessons eventually settled on the small, twisted planet of [[Quintessa (Planet)|Quintessa]], but fostered an undying hatred of all Transformers for millions of years.

The Quintessons first appeared in 2005 during the events of ''Transformers: The Movie'', where they are shown to capture prisoners for trial and feeding to their army of Sharkticons. The mock trials held by the Quintesson Court seemed to have no purpose at all, as even when the Judge determined the plaintiff to be innocent, they were still immediately fed to the ravenous Sharkticons.

One (or possibly 5, depending on who you ask) years after the defeat of [[Unicron]], the Quintessons re-appeared. They first sent a commando team of Sharkticons to abduct various Autobots (as well as [[Spike Witwicky]], though that may have been unintentional). Upon capturing the 'bots, the Quintessons seemed more interesting in interrogating their prisoners then feeding them to the Sharkticons. However, they eventually did find the captured Transformers to be guilty of the crime of... being Transformers (Spike was guilty by association).

After [[Rodimus Prime (G1)|Rodimus]] and the [[Aerialbot (G1)|Aerialbots]] mounted a rescue for their captive friends, the Quintessons attempted to kill the would-be rescuers by destroying the entire planet of [[Quintessa]]. After this plan failed, the surviving Quintessons made an alliance with the newly revived [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] to attack Cybertron (in return for the fictional [[Decepticon Matrix of Leadership]].

The Quintessons betrayed Galvatron almost immediately after the battle had been won, toggling a switch which caused all Transformers the Galaxy over to literally freeze where they stood. Luckily, Spike stopped the Quintessons before they had much a chance to do anything. Despite their betrayal (and the fact that they almost killed him), Galvatron remained an ally.

Later plots by the Quintessons were no less nefarious. A rogue Quintesson scientist abducted several Transformers and a human for behavioral study, revived the deceased [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] in an attempt to lure all the Autobots into a trap (which nearly succeeded). Later still, the Quintessons attempted to rewrite history by preventing their loss of Cybertron (which nearly resulted in the very fabric of Time being destroyed).

During the events of ''The Return of Optimus Prime'', a single Quintesson was captured by Sky Lynx to repair the body of Optimus Prime.

Joey Slick was a criminal thug working for [[Jake Lomax]], a crime lord. Joey didn't pay some of his collection money, and was chased down by Lomax's thugs, and was nearly killed.

By a stroke of luck, his hand happened to sweep up [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]], lying in gun mode in a river. He ended up there after a gigantic fall after his encouner with the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] and [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]]. Confused, Joey attempted to shoot the thugs, to no avail.

The criminals taunted him, and jokingly told the gun, "Blast us!" Megatron, damaged heavily and only able to take commands, obeyed. Joey fled to his home in the ghetto. He was again pursued by Lomax's men. Joey ordered Megatron (in his gun mode) to fire on the water tower. The tower was blown away, easily crippling all of Lomax's men.

Joey then used Megatron to his advantage - he became a famous criminal, doing nothing other than telling his "magic gun" what to do and wiping out cops, tanks, bridges, cameras, and the like. He became known as the "Super Shooter."

Inside, however, Joey was bored of being rich and famous. He returned to his home in the ghetto, and found that all of his former friends and peers were either terrified or looking up to him. Feeling guilty, Joey went to Lomax's home to finish what was started.

Using Megatron to easily disable all of the hired goons, Joey found himself facing Lomax with Megatron in hand. Joey tossed the gun aside and decked Lomax once, hard. He then showered Lomax's limp form with cash, yelling that they were even.

The impact of Megatron's gun mode hitting the ground reconnected whatever it was that had broken in his great fall. Megatron stood, furious about being controlled like a mere automaton, and nearly killed Joey.

Joey stood resiliant and yelled right back at Megatron. Megatron was surprised by this, assuming all humans were pathetic by nature. He respected Joey's audacity, and left him alone.

Capitalist first, Decepticon second, '''Swindle''' is a con-man, an opportunist, a hustler -- or as he would put it, an entrepreneur. Unlike his fellow Combaticons, the Autobot-Decepticon war is to him merely an opportunity for networking, cutting deals, and making profit. He's an expert on all manner of weaponry and their market prices, and he prides himself on being able to sell anything to pretty much anybody. All he needs is a smile.

Swindle can combine with the other Combaticons to form [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]].

====Generation 1====
The Combaticons first U.S. appearance was unexplained in the American comic, however it may be assumed that they were created in the same way as the [[Stunticon]]s were (it is possible that they were recruited from Cybertron. See the article on the comic issue [[Afterdeath]] for more). The Combaticons joined Megatron on a mission to invade the company 'Energy Futures Industries' in order to steal a hydrothermocline, which the Decepticons wanted to steal for their own energy resources. This mission resulted not only in success for the Decepticons, but also in the death of Autobot leader Optimus Prime, despite Swindle's individual failure in his part of the mission.

Swindle soon accompanied his fellow Decepticons to a new base in Carribean, at which time Megatron disappeared and Shockwave assumed command of the Earth-bound Decepticon.

Swindle (and the other Combaticons) battled Defensor on several occasions, though without great success. He had better success during the Decepticon ambush of the Autobots on the Moon, where the Autobots had gathered to resolve a leadership dispute. Swindle specifically attacked Brawn with his Scatter Blaster, and commented that Brawn was not a great Autobot warrior but he would have a bright future as spare parts. When the combined forces of Blaster and [[Grimlock]] managed to pierce the ship's protective force field, [[Ratbat]] commanded all Decepticons on the surface of the Moon to return to the ship and retreat.

Swindle also served as part of the 'friendly' staff on the beach of the Decepticons Carribean island, when the Decepticons used the base as a human vacation resort. Swindle was there to serve every need that the humans might require.

====Generation 2====
Swindle gave Megatron a tour of the [[Warworld]] when the Decpeticon leader forcibly took command of the Decepticons back from [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]]. This ultimately led to a chamber where many new Decepticon bodies awaited, needing the [[Matrix]] to give them life.

He is later seen briefly as part of the first wave of defenders when the Warworld was attacked by the next-generation Cybertronians commanded by [[Jhiaxus (G2)|Jhiaxus]] after the Autobots and Decepticons had forged an alliance of neccessity against said forces. Swindle's fate is not revealed, but considering the Cybertronian troops --led by the traitor [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]]-- killed several Decepticons and ultimately overtook the battleship, it doesn't look too good for Swindle.

Like his fellow Terrorcons, '''Sinnertwin''' is a horrific insult to nature itself. Sinnertwin frequently patrols the Terrorcons lair with the hope of finding anything unfortunante enough to be alive in his presense. Then comes the killing, and with his multiple heads and sadistic nature, this is not the kind of thing one would like to experience. Ironically, he's terrified of small things.

Also: He has the most awesome name in Transformer history.

"Pure, strong, and fast," '''Silverbolt''''s sense of right and wrong is so overdeveloped his fellow Maximals wonder if his programming has a glitch. He speaks in platitudes that speak to chivalry, justice, and cheesy heroic ideals, and he has been known to give speeches that make even [[Optimus Primal (BW)|Optimus Primal]] roll his optics. His conviction is both his strength and his weakness. He sees the world in black and white.

The only gray area for Silverbolt is [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]]. His fierce love for the "evil" Predacon causes him to question his preconceived notions of right and wrong. He was very proud of his ability to convert Blackarachnia to the Maximals, and, though most of the them are skeptical, he has nothing but faith for her.

he explosion caused by the Transwarp explosion and the [[Vok]] [[Planet Buster]] sent all stasis pods Earth. The explosion fried one pod's scanners, however, and the result was the Fuzors, one of whom was Silverbolt.

Megatron recruited Silverbolt, but he felt so out of place being treacherous and cruel that he soon joined the Maximals. It was after this time when he battled Blackarachnia when [[Tarantulus]] was building his secret base. She was somewhat surprised by his complete refusal to strike her simply because she was a female.

Soon, Silverbolt found himself reluctantly sneaking off to aide Blackarachnia in constructing a small starship out of the fallen Stasis Pod. Eventually, Megatron's powerscheme threatened to eradicate Blackarachnia, and the two came out about their affair to the Maximals. Blackarachnia defected to their side soon after.

Most of the time thereafter, Silverbolt stayed by Blackarachnia's side, more than happy that the subterfuge was over. He was extremely pleased when Blackarachnia was converted fully into a Maximal (and a Transmetal 2, as well).

When the Maximals found themselves back on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] running for their lives from armies of [[Vehicon]] drones, their memories of their past had been tampered with. Even [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blacharachnia]] could not remember Silverbolt fully until she hacked into the memory backup on their ship.

Blackarachnia began to suspect that Silverbolt's [[spark]] may be inside one of the Vehicon Generals. At first, she erroneously thought it was inside [[Thrust (BM)|Thrust]], but after a mishap with some technorganic goop, Silverbolt's spark was proven to be inside [[Jetstorm (BM)|Jetstorm]]. For a precious few moments, Silverbolt's consciousness was completely awoken within Jetstorm's body, reverting to his old personality, until the goop was absorbed completely and Jetstorm's shell program reasserted itself.

Obsessed with bringing Silverbolt back, she hounded Jetstorm, demanding he remember their shared love and return to the Maximals. Needless to say, Jetstorm was annoyed by this. But when [[Rattrap (BW)|Rattrap]] created a gizmo that would help them transfer the stolen Transformer sparks into new bodies, Blackarachnia stole it. Leading Jetstorm into the planet's organic core, she attached the gizmo to his back and trapped the Vehicon in a pool of the technorganic goop with her webs. After much screaming, reformatting, and brilliant light, Silverbolt was reborn.

Counter to Blackarachnia's expectations, Silverbolt was not pleased. Gone was the Maximal who exemplified honor and chivalry, replaced with only a desire for retribution and vengeance. "I was a fool back then," he frowns, "I ''believed'' in things." Distraught, Blackarachnia managed to convince him to come along with her to help rescue [[Optimus Primal (BW)|Optimus Primal]] and [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] from inside [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]]'s Big Floating Head, but Silverbolt did not accompany her for their friends -- he was not interested in them. He went to confront Megatron.

Megatron, seeing that his General had been reformatted into a Maximal, tried to seduce Silverbolt back to his side. Silverbolt was told he was a creature of honor who fought for just causes, and that Megatron gave Silverbolt not only a just cause (the technological purity of Cybertron), but also the power and strength to fight for that cause. Blackarachnia countered at every point, pleading with Silverbolt to remember their love and friendship. Silverbolt was not even paying attention to her, and finally answers Megatron bitterly: "You gave me ''nothing''." Silverbolt, with nearly insane fury, let loose a volley of feather bombs, disrupting Megatron from within. Cheetor and Primal were rescued, and Silverbolt was dragged away from the battle.

Slightly calmed, Silverbolt was later approached by Blackarachnia. He confided in her the real reason for his anger. It was not what Megatron had done to him, but that he was freed from his code of honor and he ''enjoyed'' the experience. He did not trust himself any longer. This did not deter Blackarachnia. She believed, no matter what, that Silverbolt had goodness in his heart.

Among the fans, this transition for Silverbolt was distressing. Instead of the phrases of chivalry and honor, combined with his constant cheesy love-related sayings to Blackarachnia, Silverbolt was now a brittle, tormented character, almost a complete stand-in for [[Depth Charge]].

One year after [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]'s Great Reformatting, five great Autobot heroes ([[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]], [[Sunstreaker (G1)|Sunstreaker]], [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailbreaker]], [[Shadow Striker (TFU)|Shadow Striker]], and [[Roulette (TFU)|Roulette]]) returned home to a peaceful planet. Amidst a media blitz and celebration, Silverbolt, [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]], [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]], and [[Rattrap (BW)|Rattrap]] were among the Maximals to greet them.

However, what appeared to be celebratory fireworks struck Silverbolt and Blackarachnia and also the five Autobots. They were transported to the firey [[Pit]] deep within [[Unicron]], where all but Trailbreaker were rebuilt painfully into new bodies. Silverbolt was piece-by-piece reassembled into a version of his original [[Fuzor]] form.

Seeing an arena up ahead, the seven moved towards it, only to be attacked by a swarm of shape-shifting lava-like creatures. Silverbolt and the others were overwhelmed and taken into the arena (or, the [[Cauldron]]), where they were caged along with a multitude of Transformers kidnapped from across the multiverse.

During this time Blacharachnia was corrupted by Unicron to become one of his warriors. Silverbolt vowed to bring her back to the light again as she has done for him.

When the whole place went to pot after the formation of the [[Unicron Singularity]],Sliverbolt escaped with the rest of the prisoners, taking Blacharachnia with him. Presumably they returned to their own time and universe.
