:The Predators are a Decepticon subgroup from the Generation 1 continuity family.

The Predators are a Decepticon team, most of whom transform into jets. Their ranks include:

* Skyquake, the Air Commandant, huge jet-thing.
* Stalker, the ICBM launcher tank.
* Falcon, the leader-Lockheed F-117A Nighthawk.
* Skydive, the Northrop YF-23 Black Widow II.
* Snare, the Grumman X-29.
* Talon, the McDonnell-Douglas F-15 Eagle.

IDW comics continuity
Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 1
The Predators, under the command of Skyquake, are a force almost entirely devoted to aerial dominance. While Skyquake's intimate circle consists of the more 'well-known' Predators, there are many other members of the unit, all of whom have adopted the form of jets.

At the height of the cross-galactic Decepticon uprising, Skyquake and his Predators were charged with securing Garrus-9 as an important element of Megatron's long term plan. Overlord had other ideas. Most of the lower ranking Predators who saw Overlord arrive were scared senseless - likely due to his infamous reputation - and their fears were proven true when Overlord casually gunned down their commander following a disagreement. Overlord's sudden arrival allowed the Predators to tip the odds of the ongoing battle even further in their favour, resulting in utter victory for the Decepticons on Garrus-9.

It's possible that, while not strictly part of the official unit, that the Decepticons who were liberated from Garrus-9 also joined the Predators.

Three years later, the Predators remained on the planet under Overlord's command, engaging in mindless slaughter. Some of the Predators, such as Snare, were growing sick of it... but none dared stand up to the sociopath. Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 1

:The Predators were released in the final year of Generation 1, only in "European" markets (which does include Canada). They were the "headliner" Decepticons, with their leader Skyquake apparently being the leader of all the Decepticons at the time.

:Though the Predators shared the missile-launching shtick of their Autobot counterparts the Turbomasters (though the Predator launchers are entirely uniform across all the toys), they also had the Megavisor gimmick to unify the team further, allowing the smaller jets to physically link with the larger.

:Due to a combination of factors the Predator launchers are quite delicate. It's best never to load one of the launchers while it is in the hand of a Predator -- the post is most likely to just snap right off.

:In some European markets, the Predators were referred to as Scope Masters.

Trivia
* The four small Predator jets were released — without changes — in Takara's Operation Combination line as the "Jet Corps". Also, it is likely that Skyquake is the "model" for the ever-unseen Operation Combination head badguy Scrash.

Slog is the most tasteful and refined of his comrades. When he originally joined the Decepticons, they used his exceptional talent as an artist to produce sculptures and art pieces depicting the glory of the Decepticon empire and its leaders, and record their rise for posterity. Eventually, they realised Slog was a capable warrior as well as an artist, although his battlefield work is definately more of the 'abstract' variety. He carves up his foes on the battlefield more out of a desire to survive than actual spite, and he always attempts to make each of his victims a work of art to honour their memory. This aspect of war, and the fact that the Decepticons have no interest in supporting free expression and art, troubles Slog. Although he finds destruction to be the best way to create pure, chaotic art in an inanimate subject, he wonders about the lives lost in the Autobot/Decepticon conflict. Slog once organised an underground art show of his work, reflecting the horrors of war in the twisted, rusting ruins of his foes. This led to the coining of a new art form - 'slogism' - and the use of the exhibit's pictures in the Autobots' anti-Decepticon broadcasts. This and occasional doubts about his cause have not pleased his Decepticon superiors.

Slog possesses great intelligence and exceptional skill as an artist. He is a surprisingly effective warrior. Subject's outer Shell has harder-than-diamond talons capable of cutting through almost any substance. Inner robot is armed with a magnetic rifle that can be set to fire waves that repel or attract; it can even make its target's bodies repel themselves, tearing apart metallic opponants. Combines with fellow Pretender Monsters to form Monstructor.

With his fellow Pretender Monsters he combines when Monstructor they form.

In an alternate future where the Decepticons had conquered much of Earth, Slog and his fellow Pretender Monsters were led by Galvatron to the remains of New York City
in an attempt to root out the last remaining vestiges of Autobot and human resistance. All they managed to find, however, was a human-made booby trap that buried Icepick under tons of debris. Slog exited his Pretender shell to dig out his comrade, reflecting that Galvatron's madness would ultimately destroy
them all.

Not long later, he and the others rejoined the Decepticons to defend the Decepticon Powerbase against an Autobot attack. Slog's role in the battle, and its final outcome, is unknown.

Slog was among a group of Decepticons who made a deal with Cobra-La, receiving power-enhancing organic shells in exchange for defending Cobra-La's underground kingdom. They attacked a trio of Autobots aboard the submerged Arc II, then as Monstructor, defended the kingdom against surface attack by GI Joe.
IDW Generation 1 comics
Long millennia ago, Monstructor was the first gestalt, constructed out of the individual Pretender Monsters. Created by Jhiaxus under the direction of Nova Prime, they were intended to be the ultimate fusion of mind and body, a vast amount of intellect combined with unparalleled strength. Unfortunately, they were driven into insanity by the merging process and became
monsters. After Nova Prime departed Cybertron in the Ark, Omega Supreme locked them in a dimensionally displaced prison to live out the rest of their horrid existence. Eventually, they escaped and tracked down and attacked Omega Supreme, but were defeated by Optimus Prime and split apart into their individual bodies. Despite Omega Supreme's protestations about the dangers of gestalt technology falling into Decepticon hands, Prime had them taken into custody in an attempt to
repair their shattered minds. Spotlight: Optimus Prime

Slog and his comrades were incarcerated at the Garrus-9 penitentiary where Jetfire attempted to carry out Optimus Prime's orders despite Fortress Maximus's misgivings about the whole endeavour. Thanks to a tipoff from the double-agent Dealer, Banzai-Tron's Decepticon Secret Service attacked the facility and absconded with the monsters. Spotlight: Arcee

The breakout of the "Monstructor Six" eventually made its way to the Autobot Orbital Command Hub, and from there to Optimus Prime. Although Earth was currently facing the threat of Megatron and Sixshot, Prime decided that they couldn't risk allow the Decepticons to gain gestalt technology, and ordered Prowl's team to abandon Earth and head to Garrus-9. Devastation (IDW)

However, the Decepticons were later attacked in turn by the minions of Jhiaxus and Nova Prime (now Nemesis Prime), who took the gestalt Transformers for the purpose of making Monstructor a guardian of a Nega-Core, a device crucial to Nemesis Prime's grand plans. The Autobot Arcee and the Decepticon survivors struck a deal to capture Monstructor. Spotlight: Hardhead They engaged Monstructor on Rotan, but Arcee left mid-battle to confront Jhiaxus. The outcome of the battle is unknown. Spotlight: Sideswipe
