'''When Optimus is infected by a Decepticon plague, Arcee and Bumblebee sneak aboard the ''Nemesis'' to find a cure.'''

==Synopsis==
[[Image:Cybonicplague.jpg|250px|thumb|left|Day one-thousand and one. We came in close contact with a hive today...]]
[[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] reports that his scans have located the [[Nemesis (Prime)|Decepticon warship]] while experimenting with different frequencies. [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] thinks they should strike now, but Ratchet says he's also detected an [[Autobot]] emergency beacon, and [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]] decides they should check that out first. He and Ratchet arrive at a centuries-old crashed Autobot ship and venture inside. Though they expect there may be survivors, they find the crew already dead. Ratchet's scans reveal that the crew didn't die in the crash, but had succumbed to [[cybonic plague]]. As the ship shifts, a deceased Autobot hanging from the ceiling drips plague-imbued [[energon (fuel)|energon]] onto Optimus.

Later at [[Autobot Outpost Omega One|base]], Optimus lays stricken while the others discuss the situation. The plague was developed as part of the Decepticons' [[Decepticon Biological Warfare Program|Biological Warfare Program]], specifically by [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]] himself, and Ratchet thinks they might be able to find information in the Decepticon databases. [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] and [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] [[GroundBridge]] onto the Decepticon ship and, narrowly hiding from [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]], enter the ship's laboratory. Inside, Arcee scours the database, but fails to find a cure for the plague. While she's doing so, Bumblebee stumbles on something just as important—the comatose body of Megatron! Arcee is ready to finish Megatron off then and there, but Ratchet has a better idea—enter Megatron's brain and retrieve the plague cure. Ratchet knows of a procedure to create a [[cortical psychic patch]]. Though such procedures have been banned by the Autobots for years, it will get them into Megatron's brain, and Bumblebee is willing to try it.

On the ship's bridge, [[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]] complains that the ship's electromagnetic shielding has not been fixed, and directs the [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]]s to hurry up and do so before the Autobots detect them. Afterwards Starscream has a private word with Knock Out, suggesting that the Decepticons deserve a leader who is conscious, and the pair come to an understanding whereby Knock Out will be Starscream's new [[second-in-command]].

[[Image:Megatron_WHY_IN_MY_HEAD.jpg|thumb|250px|right|He ''does'' [[Transform and Roll Out!|eat Autobot protoforms for breakfast]].]]
Arcee plugs Bumblebee into Megatron, and Bumblebee finds himself in a simulation of [[Kaon]]. Ratchet creates a communications downlink, so they can monitor what Bumblebee is doing. Bumblebee wanders though Kaon until he finds what appears to be Optimus, but is just a figment of Megaton's imagination. Megatron appears and slays the false Optimus, who dissolves into smoke. Another Optimus appears, and as Megatron fires his [[fusion cannon]], Bumblebee jumps in the path of the blast, only to find it passes right through him to slay the imaginary Optimus. Megatron, however, has seen Bumblebee and attempts to strike him, but his blows pass clean through the Autobot scout. While Megatron is trying to work out what's going on, Optimus, [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] and another Bumblebee appear, all figments of his imagination. Megatron destroys them, but begins to realize that he's in his own subconscious.

Arcee becomes anxious when Starscream, Knock Out and [[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]] enter the lab, though the two Autobots are hidden well enough that the Decepticons don't see them. Starscream is determined to put on a show for Soundwave, to convince his fellow Decepticon that Megatron is beyond saving. He and Knock Out attempt to persuade Soundwave that putting Megatron out of his misery is the best thing. Arcee and Ratchet overhear their conversation, and Ratchet says terminating Megatron will permanently separate Bumblebee's mind and body.

In the dream world, Megatron ponders what has happened to him, and finds out from Bumblebee about the [[space bridge]] explosion. Short on time, Bumblebee relays the news about Optimus's cybonic plague infection. Megatron is amused that after all this time Optimus will be felled by a virus, but Bumblebee plays on his desire to finish Optimus himself.

Starscream is about to pull the plug on Megatron when Soundwave points out the psychic patch cable. Starscream begins following it, as Arcee observes from her hiding place.

[[Image:SickMind-take me.jpg|thumb|left|250px|"The dream's collapsing!" Braaaahm. Braaahm.]]

Megatron briefly shows Bumblebee the formula for the virus cure, but will only share it if Bumblebee can release him from his mental prison. Unknown to Megatron, Ratchet can still see everything Bumblebee sees. Having ganked the formula, Ratchet tells Arcee to cut the link. Megatron's dream world begins to disintegrate and the Decepticon leader launches himself at the disappearing Bumblebee.

Bumblebee comes around as Starscream finds the two hidden Autobots, and, as they escape through the GroundBridge, Arcee blasts one of the cables attached to Megatron. Starscream is actually pleased that Megatron has flatlined as a result, but at Soundwave's insistence has Knock Out reconnect the cable.

[[Image:SickMind-I'm out.jpg|right|thumb|200px|Hmm... A [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] that gets [[Spark of Darkness|trapped inside]] a [[Diagnostic Drone|weaker bot]] after he was [[Sparkwar Pt. III: The Siege|presumed deceased]]. That sounds familiar.]]
A newly-cured Optimus stands up and the Autobots celebrate, but Optimus insists the celebration should be for Ratchet and Bumblebee. On the Decepticon ship, Knock Out observes that Megatron is no longer exhibiting any brainwave activity — there's no one home. Unbeknownst to anyone, Megatron now resides in Bumblebee's head...
==Notes==
===Animation or technical errors===

*When Knock Out says that there is no brainwave activity, one of the monitors next to Starscream shows brainwave activity in Megatron.

===Continuity errors===

*Since Megatron's dream was, presumably, taking place ''before'' the cortical psychic patch, why is it destroyed once the patch is broken? Shouldn't Bumblebee be the only thing in it to disappear?

===Transformers references===
*[[Kaon]], the Decepticon capital on Cybertron, was first mentioned in the Dreamwave ''Generation One'' comics.
*"One shall stand, one shall fall" is used for the [[Darkness Rising, Part 5|second time]] in this series.
*Megatron asks whether or not he "still functions".
*Megatron refuses handing over the formula for the cure to the plague unless Bumblebee helps him escape, or he will let Optimus [[The many deaths of Optimus Prime#The Transformers: The Movie| "fade to gunmetal grey."]]
*The first showdown between Megatron and an Optimus illusion is reminiscent of the [[title sequence]].
*As noted in the caption above, Megatron being stuck inside Bumblebee's body seems to be a Reference to the time that Beast Machines Megatron was stuck inside the Diagnostic Drone's body.

===Foreign dubbing===

===Real-world references===
*[[Cybonic plague]] is a reference to [[wikipedia:bubonic plague|bubonic plague]].
*Bulkhead says that Megatron is "pushing up lugnuts." This is a modification of the human phrase, "pushing up daisies," although it doesn't make much literal sense.
*Oddly enough, Starscream uses two common human phrases, both quoted above. Perhaps Soundwave gets cable?

===Trivia===
*The two offline Autobots on the plague ship were reminiscent of [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] and [[Ironhide (G1) |Ironhide]].
*This episode was available to watch prior to its intended airdate on some cable providers' Video On Demand services.
*This episode marks Megatron's first speaking role since the end of the ''[[Darkness Rising]]'' mini-series.
*This is also the first episode to show Megatron using his [[fusion cannon]] outside of the opening titles sequence.
*"I'm inside your mind!" is a common fictional trope that ''Transformers'' fiction has explored in the past:
**In the [[Beast Wars (cartoon)|''Beast Wars'' episode]] "[[Other Voices, Part 2]]", [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] uplinks herself into [[Tarantulas (BW)|Tarantulas]]'s mind and wanders through his inwardly-imagined world before confronting his own psychic avatar. Tarantulas also manages to install himself into her mind as Megatron has done here.
**And from a less metaphysical perspective, the Autobots literally shrank themselves into microscopic size in order to walk around inside [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]'s brain in the [[The Transformers (cartoon)|Generation 1 episode]] "[[Microbots]]".
*Starscream totally bitch-slaps a Vehicon.
*Megatron moves rather quickly in his dreams. After destroying the dream Optimus, Bulkhead and Bumblebee, and realizing its his subconscious, he takes barely a second to move from his position a few feet away to looming over Bumblebee.
*Megatron's voice has a surprisingly compassionate sound to it when he asks if "someone besides [him]self is unwell"... It's rather disturbing.
*Nobody transforms once in this episode.

==Notes==
===Animation or technical errors===

*When Knock Out says that there is no brainwave activity, one of the monitors next to Starscream shows brainwave activity in Megatron.

===Continuity errors===

*Since Megatron's dream was, presumably, taking place ''before'' the cortical psychic patch, why is it destroyed once the patch is broken? Shouldn't Bumblebee be the only thing in it to disappear?

===Transformers references===
*As noted in the caption above, Megatron being stuck inside Bumblebee's body seems to be a Reference to the time that Beast Machines Megatron was stuck inside the Diagnostic Drone's body

===Foreign dubbing===

===Real-world references===

===Trivia===
==New continuity family!==
Hey, remember when I said WFC/Prime is probably Primax? Well, I lied! After BotCon's flurry of information I think it's going to have to be its own thing. Not only because, well, it deserves to be, but because it will make our lives a lot easier and our pages a lot clearer. Back when the movie came out, we also considered making THAT G1, but declined when we realized the sheer amount of material and focus would make it impractical. The same here. Also, comments from Aaron Archer put the new continuity in perspective.

He ALSO doesn't like calling it "Prime," since that's not what he wants to call it, but it's all we got at the moment. He doesn't have a name for this new continuity (family), but is trying to think of one eventually. So, uh, in the meantime, I think we're stuck with calling it "Prime." Dem's the breaks until we get a time machine and can ask 2012 Aaron Archer or whatever. --[[User:ItsWalky|ItsWalky]] 11:01, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
:Yeah, EVERYTHING was already pointing in the way of a new continuity family, so I'm glad the wiki now has the green light to separate this stuff. Not that that will spare me from redoing certain location articles, but it's at least a lot easier. [[User:Geewunling|Geewunling]] 11:58, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
::Optimus Prime (Prime)? Reminds me of [[Cyclonus (Armada)]]. Anyway, looks like we're going to have to fix a lot of links and move a fair bit of information related to the War for Cybertron pages. --[[User:NCZ|NCZ]] 12:12, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
:::I concur completely. This seems very much like a new continuity, albeit with very strong G1 and Movie influences, though the Unicron Trilogy and Animated get some characters and ideas dropped in as well.--[[User:Jimsorenson|Jimsorenson]] 12:22, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
::::As I said on [[Transformers: War for Cybertron]] ":I'm beginning to wonder if the "G1 continuity family" is heading towards collapse under its own weight. I'm not sure there will ever be another franchise that isn't "terribly G1y" in the future. The discussion a few years back about whether Movie and Animated belonged in their own continuity families, the synthetic nature of the Hall of Fame bios, the integration of Mini-Cons into G1 universes, all point towards a blending effect in TF universes." --[[User:Khajidha|Khajidha]] 12:42, 29 June 2010 (EDT)

While Archer may not like calling it "Prime," that ''would'' seem to be the parenthetical if we follow the same protocol we did for the Unicron Trilogy. Franchise of origin and all. Alternately, we could tag all of them (WFC) if they first appeared in that game, but that doesn't seem quite right.--[[User:Rosicrucian|Rosicrucian]][[User Talk:Rosicrucian|Talk]] 12:46, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
::Exodus had the same street-date as WFC, didn't it? I know we're having this discussion simultaneously on Allspark, which... probably isn't a good idea.... but I suggested "EWP" as a suffix until something better comes along. --[[User:Thylacine 2000|Thylacine 2000]] 13:02, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
:::I would suggest using either "Prime", "WFC" or "Exodus" (only one of them though!) until something clearer comes along. "EWP" just seems needlessly confusing. --[[User:Khajidha|Khajidha]] 13:12, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
::::I tend to think (Prime) is the best suffix we'll get, since we normally use franchise and Prime seems like the most likely candidate to be the franchise name. Exodus and WFC are definitely not franchises, but Prime might be. Of course, one wonders what will happen if Hasbro decides to completely move away from the concept of franchises... --[[User:Jimsorenson|Jimsorenson]] 13:14, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
:::::According to the TFormers.com BotCon report, Aaron Archer said Hasbro wasn't planning on doing TF:Prime toys. And, for that matter, we know there ''are'' WFC toys, so at the moment WFC actually looks more franchisey. But that having been said, I still vote for "(Prime)" across the board because that's almost guaranteed to be the most prominent, central, and dominant element of this continuity. - [[User:Jackpot|Jackpot]] 13:43, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
::::::::Aaron's wording was poorly-chosen. He really did say something like "right now there isn't a toyline," and of course he could only have meant it as a figure of speech to cover what he was willing to talk about during that 20 minutes and not that there actually isn't a toyline. It's impossible that there wouldn't be a toyline. You don't make a CGI toy commercial without them. --Thy, not logged in.
::::::::::Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the toys just ended up in the general ''Transformers'' line, which would make TF:Prime about exactly as franchisey as WFC. == Help! Paradox! ==

Could someone please explain to me how War For Cybertron fits in the Prime Universe. I have a whole list of paradoxs:

*Megatron:In WFC, he was a tank, while in Prime, he was a jet. In WFC, Megatron new how to control dark energon, and used it often, but in Prime, he did not fuse it with his spark until he arrived on Earth.
*Starscream: First, his color scheme is different, in WFC, he is G1 like, but in Prime, he is movie like. Also, in The Darkness Rising Part 2, Starscream acted as if he hadn't came in contact with Dark Energon, but heard about it. However, the WFC Starscream knew exactly what Dark Energon does, and wants to learn how to weild it.
*Soundwave: Soundwave in WFC is like G1, with Laserbeak, Rumble, Frenzy, however in Prime, he is quiet, doesn' talk much,
(and even then, he just repeats recordings of what others have said) and only has 1 drone (Ratbat, i beleive his name is now.
*Ratchet:Rachet in WFC new what Drak Energon was, for it was alover Cybertron and Optimus pointed it out. In Prime, though, he says Dark Energon is so rare, its existence is doughted.
*Bumblebee:In WFC, he can talk and has a mouth, but in prime, he cannot talk. (Similar to his movie version.)
*Cliffjumper: In WFC, heis basicallya retool of Bumblebee, but in Prime, he is his own mold.
*Arcee: In WFC, she is like er G1 counterpart (and is a pink car), but the prime version is more like the movie version, and somewhat of a ninja. (And is a blue motercycle.)
*Dark Energon: In WFC, it was said it corrupts and destroys. But in Prime, it has the power to revive the dead. It is all over cybertron in WFC, and heck, even the Core of Cybertron is corrupted with it. But in Prime, it is apperently "so rare", how was it found on cybertron? Better yet in WFC, why was it being manufactured? (WARNING!!! SPOLIER ALERT!!! SPOLIERS UP AHEAD!!! STOP READING IF YOU DON'T LIKE SPOILERS!!!! WARNING!!!) and Prime, why is Megaton trying to ressurct ever dead cybertronian on Cybertron? Couldn't he have just done that in WFC?

Some clarification would be great. Also, I know the whole "Scanning alt mode" thing could change the way they look, but in the Prime comic,they still look the same in Cybertrnian form. ::::We don't need a reason. Characters changing their altmode is not some strange new thing that's unique to Megatron (Prime). G1 Megs went from gun to cannon to nothing to tank, back to gun, sometimes a car... UT Megs went from tank to spaceship to dragster/jet triple changer to... dinosaur. And Movie Megs has been both a tank and a jet. And all this is beside the point that we have been handed down an official reason in WFC Megatron's tech spec bio. Read the notes at the bottom of Megatron (Prime)'s article. --[[User:ItsWalky|ItsWalky]] 20:50, 4 December 2010 (EST)
:::::You forget that all those times he had a reason. G1 Megatron was changed due to Cobra Commander. But I don't know If you read my comment but I tried to end this whole paradox conversation. Ok, I confused something big whoop. ==New continuity family!==

== Help! Paradox!

Please help clarify some things.[[User:LordDalek|LordDalek]] 10:02, 3 December 2010 (EST)
UT Megatron changed because he was brought back to life a few time and movie Megs was ressurected using parts of other decepticons. And there is always the to sell toys reason. But I don't know If you read my comment but I tried to end this whole paradox conversation. Ok, I confused something big whoop. You don't have to act like a jerk saying "I want someone to tell me how having a different alt mode in the past is a paradox." Why don't you just ban me from this sight because I said that he had an new alt mode in the past. ==General help==
Since it seems you are in need of some:
*Technical:
** To sign your posts, you only have to type this <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki> after your post.
** To make a new article, you can click a red link you find on another page. This is the easiest way and also tells you the article is something the wiki is waiting for. If you want to write a page on your own initiative (often if you want to write about something that is nameless), you have to alter the text after tfwiki.net/wiki/ in the address bar atop your screen and press enter.
** Since you're new, try not to jump right into article creation. Try updating other pages first by rewriting sloppy sections or unstubbing sections. This will get you familiar with the basics of editing and what kind of layout the wiki expects.

*Community:
**If you plan to stay and help out, it'll probably be better for everyone is you signed up as a user. Random numbers don't convey an identity as well as a name does.
**Unless you have no access to the material yourself and are worried a page could remain outdated or incomplete, do not tell others to do something. In fact, don't ever tell others to do something. ''Ask'' nicely. If you're really interested in a subject that has no specific priority, you can also try asking if someone wants to update the page for you, but don't push it.
**Try to balance your actual edits and talk page posts. Currently, most you did was ask things of and to the user base. That's... kind of annoying, if all the user base gets is questions and has to do extra work in writing a reply. You're new and uncertain of what to do or why some things are the way they are. That's fine, but you can also try to look for an answer yourself first. If a page seems to miss information, it might very well be that it is simply forgotten and nobody has noticed or cared to fix it. You're welcome to improve the wiki in every way you can, so add what's missing if you can.
