Team Prime wages war against the Decepticon citadel.

Synopsis
As the Autobots prepare for battle, Fowler points out that the military has the weapons necessary to take down the fortress, but can't attack while Darkmount's fusion cannons are pointed at major cities. Ultra Magnus resolves to disable the cannons. As Darkmount has GroundBridge jamming capabilities, they will have to attack in a more roundabout way.

In an underground cavern, Smokescreen expresses his doubt that he's ready to be a Prime, but Optimus points out that the decision will be made by the Matrix of Leadership.

Jack uses his cellphone at a gas station, and his signal is promptly picked up by the Decepticons. Starscream dispatches his seekers to investigate, but Ratchet GroundBridges Jack back to the Harbinger before they can reach him. Miko likewise calls for pizza from a New York alley to lure Decepticons there. Ratchet has Jack make a fake transmission from an Energon Mine, forcing Starscream to send Insecticons to check the location. With the Decepticon forces thus scattered, the Autobots bridge to the fortress while Fowler stands ready at a nearby air base with a squadron of jets.

As the report comes in that the Energon Mine is safe and not under attack, Megatron demands to know why the Decepticons have been spread so thin. Soundwave solves the mystery of where the Autobots are by pointing out the existence of the Harbinger, however before Starscream can dispatch his armada to attack it, Darkmount itself comes under attack. Down below, Wheeljack and Bulkhead toss grenades at the base of the fortress and use their new weapons to stave off the Vehicons that attack them. Meanwhile Bumblebee and Arcee take a more subtle route.

Shockwave humbly suggests releasing the Predacon to repel the attackers. The beast enters the fray, but is quickly distracted by Ultra Magnus's ship. As it attempts to chase Magnus, Ratchet opens a GroundBridge, sending the creature to the Arctic, where it quickly freezes. Shockwave leaves the Nemesis and starts jumping down the side of the fortress.

The dying Optimus begins to have a vision of the Allspark and Alpha Trion. Though Prime worries about the fate of the Matrix, his old teacher assures him it will pick a new leader.

Arcee reports to Magnus that she and Bumblebee have run into some trouble and are pinned down. Ultra Magnus decides to take matters into his own hands, entering the fortress and attacking the fusion cannon control room directly. He swiftly takes care of the Decepticons at the controls, only for Megatron himself to arrive. Meanwhile Shockwave reaches the bottom of the tower and incarcerates Bulkhead and Wheeljack with a single tank cannon blast, and Arcee and Bumblebee are surrounded by Decepticon troops. Ultra Magnus fights bravely against Megatron, but ultimately loses and is dragged up to the throne room.

Alpha Trion invites Optimus to join with the Allspark. In the cavern, the Optimus's optics flicker out and his chestplate opens up to reveal the Matrix. Smokescreen has other ideas, and drags the Forge of Solus Prime over in order to place it in Optimus's hand. A surge of energy emanates from the hammer.

As Ultra Magnus won't tell Megatron anything, the Decepticon leader orders the prisoners executed and the fusion cannons fired, however Starscream points out that there's something incoming. In the Harbinger, Ratchet also detects the inbound object, and it has an Autobot signature. It reaches visual range of the Decepticons, revealing itself to be Optimus himself, in a new upgraded form. Landing in the throne room, Optimus deals Megatron a series of concussions before smashing the Decepticon leader all the way into the throne. Once the other Decepticons have been dealt with, Magnus deals Starscream a shattering uppercut before briefing Optimus, who sets out to destroy the fusion cannons. The Autobots at the base of the tower, on hearing the news, overthrow their captors.

Enraged, Megatron takes to the air and attempts to shoot down Prime. The news that there are incoming human forces has Starscream order the fusion cannons to fire, but while they're still powering up, Optimus Prime punches Megatron and flings the Decepticon leader directly into the fusion cannon power core, disabling the cannons. The Autobots make a hasty withdrawal as Fowler's squadron unleashes missiles on Darkmount. The Decepticons likewise retreat to their warship. Smokescreen drives up the highway in time to see the fortress come crashing to the ground.

Later, at a military base, Fowler gives the Autobots a speech of thanks. The Autobots note that the Forge's power has been completely drained, but Ratchet assures Smokescreen he made the right choice.

Notes
Animation and technical errors
* Wheeljack doesn't have a grenade on his hip when he and Bulkhead engage the Seekers, but it appears there immediately after he uses his energy whip to destroy a few of them.
* When Wheeljack unsheathes his katanas to attack the Decepticons, the handles remain part of his character model as he draws them. The error is fixed by the next shot.
* When Optimus flies to the scene and quickly starts pounding Megatron, the latter's leg wobbling doesn't really match with background movement.
* Ratchet's "Pfft, well..." reaction to Miko suggesting the Forge might do him some good is completely out of sync with his mouth movements. The line itself is lifted from "Scattered".
* When Megatron drops to the ground about to fight Ultra Magnus, the sound from his landing seems to stop too abruptly. Normally there is a slight echo after a crashing sound effect. Maybe the room did not create an echo?
* When Megatron shoots Ultra Magnus's rifle out of his hand, the laser is red instead of purple. However Megatron is not shown when he fires, so maybe he was still using someone else's blaster?
*After being punched into the throne chair by Optimus, Megatron is covered by rubble while he's lying face up. When we see him burst out of the rubble, he is somehow lying face down, as seen by his method of getting to his feet.

Continuity errors
* When the Autobots sent the Scraplets to the Arctic in "Scrapheap", Ratchet reasoned that the smaller body mass of the Scraplets would render them much more vulnerable to the extreme cold. By comparison, both Optimus and Arcee remained functional, if somewhat impaired, for a significant period. Despite this, Predaking, who is even larger than Optimus (not counting the wings), is frozen solid in under a minute. Of course, they could have just bridged him to a far colder area.
* Wheeljack is seen in Ultra Magnus' ship holding the energy whip and a blaster. However in the battle that follows he elects to use his own built in blaster.
* Darkmount was located right next to the ruins of the Autobot base. Smokescreen retrieved Optimus from the rubble and presumably hid him in a cavern somewhere close by. Yet when Smokescreen tries to join the battle, he's seen arriving by the highway, having apparently driven a considerable distance.

Continuity notes
* The Autobots dispose of Predaking in the same manner as they did the Scraplets in "Scrapheap". It doesn't work as well as they hoped.
* The Forge of Solus Prime was established to be low on energy in "Prey". Optimus' upgrade drains it completely.
* Optimus repeats the line "Megatron, begone" from "Orion Pax, Part 3", in much the same context.
* Wheeljack retains the scars inflicted by Starscream in "Scattered".
* With Darkmount destroyed and the Autobots getting a new base courtesy of the U.S. military, both sides are pretty close to where they started off. Just like old times.
* Despite her last encounter with Shockwave, Arcee does not seem at all surprised to see him. Nor is she even given any interaction with him.

Transformers references
* Optimus Prime gets a jetpack, much like his Cybertron, film and Animated counterparts.
* Ultra Magnus could not deal with Wrecker-style on Cybertron, and he will not deal with it on Earth.
* Much like its G1 namesake, Darkmount gets blown up pretty soon after its initial appearance.

Trivia
* This episode has a different map of the United States, this time with Louisiana in the right place.
* Shockwave runs for no man. Even his vehicle mode is slow!
* This is the first time in this series that anyone has flown in robot mode.
* The Autobits edition of the episode mistakenly describes Shockwave's face as receiving "over 300 cable channels", rather than Soundwave's as intended. They had ONE job... How did it go wrong?
* Bulkhead is silent throughout the whole episode, unless you count his grunts during the various battles or his laughs heard at the tail end of the episode. Kevin Michael Richardson is still credited in the episode's credits.
Predaking reveals his secret, causing the Decepticons to question the wisdom of their cloning project.

Synopsis
While a storm rages, Megatron and Starscream fly down from the Nemesis to the entrance of a mine. This feeling "uncomfortably familiar" to Starscream, he reluctantly follows Megatron inside and immediately begins playing down his "latest indiscretion". Megatron furiously reminds Starscream that his actions cost them the entire Insecticon hive and a great deal of their regular troops, prompting Starscream to beg for his life. Megatron sighs wearily and proceeds deeper into the mine, which Starscream finally realizes it's Shockwave's off-site laboratory. The lab contains dozens of cloning tanks, each with a Predacon floating motionless within. Shockwave reports that the clones have almost fully evolved, and will be combat-ready in three solar cycles.

On Megatron's order, Knock Out travels down from the ship in a lift while the Predacon watches intently. Arriving in the cave, Knock Out presents his Synthetic Energon, which Shockwave states he will examine after the deployment of the Predacon army. They are interrupted by the Predacon, who emerges from the shadows with a roar. Starscream hits it with a pipe, and the beast responds by transforming into robot mode and threatening some physical violence in return. Starscream and Megatron are both shocked by this, but Shockwave notes that transformation is a fundamental part of Cybertronian biology; they simply had no way of knowing the Predacons ever reached that evolutionary stage before becoming extinct in the Great Cataclysm. The Predacon stares at his brethren in the tanks and says he will no longer be alone. He apologizes to Megatron for keeping his abilities a secret, claiming he only became aware of them recently. He says he has no memories prior to arriving on Earth, and learned what he was from the databanks of the Nemesis. Megatron tells him he is unique, a miracle of science. The Predacon looks back at the clone tanks and regards them in silence.

At their base, the Autobots are chafing under Ultra Magnus's command. He pressures Ratchet to finish his Synthetic Energon experiments, chides the Beast Hunters for taking a breather between scouting missions, and demands to know what the returning Wheeljack was doing outside the base. The Wrecker surprises him by revealing that he's been recalibrating the engines on Ultra Magnus's ship to increase their efficiency. Optimus Prime returns from his reconnaissance mission and the Autobots flock to him, happy to turn their attention from Ultra Magnus. Optimus sees this with a note of sadness.

Aboard the Nemesis, the Predacon pledges his loyalty to Megatron and requests to be put in command of the clone army, taking the name Predaking. Megatron conceals his wariness of the former beast's newfound ambition.

Alone with his command staff, Megatron voices his concern that Predaking and the Predacon army can and will turn on them. The only thing they can do to prevent it is destroy the clones. Shockwave agrees, but Knock Out asks what will happen if Predaking finds out. Starscream, no stranger to treachery, suggests that the Autobots be used to do the deed, and thus draw Predaking's wrath.

Ultra Magnus is watching human soldiers run drills outside the base when Optimus Prime asks what's troubling him. Magnus has finally realized that Team Prime isn't taking to his command style. Optimus reminds his old friend that they're not the Elite Guard, and have in fact grown into something greater than an army. Before he can say what that is, Ratchet announces that their scanners have located exposed energon. Optimus declares that they must investigate, due to their own short supply.

A squadron of Vehicons are standing vigil outside an energon mine when Optimus and the Wreckers appear and order them to surrender. The Vehicons open fire, but are quickly cut down by the Wreckers' forward advance and the Stealth Team (Arcee, Bumblebee, and Smokescreen) attacking from the rear. Optimus orders the Wreckers to reconnoiter the mine while the Stealth Team transports their energon spoils back to the base. Joined by an eager Smokescreen, the Wreckers investigate the supposed energon mine, growing suspicious about the lack of energon signals or additional security. Ultra Magnus orders them to split up, with he and Wheeljack going in one direction and Smokescreen and Bulkhead in the other.

Ultra Magnus and Wheeljack come across Shockwave's laboratory and the rows of cloning tanks. Shockwave is working at a computer console when he notices them, opening fire briefly before contacting Starscream. Starscream says he didn't reveal that his plan was already in motion, just so that Shockwave's surprised reaction would be genuine. Starscream terminates the link. Knock Out knows exactly why Starscream staged his plan this way, and received a less than subtle confirmation. Shockwave contacts Soundwave to open a GroundBridge. Before fleeing, Shockwave triggers an electrical surge that travels through the cloning tanks, causing the liquid which keeps the beasts in stasis to drain out.

On the Nemesis, Starscream reports that the Autobots have taken possession of the Predacon clones. Megatron orders him to scramble his seeker armada, but Predaking says that he alone will confront the enemy that threatens his brethren.

Dozens of Predacons begin to stir as the stasis fluids drains from their tanks. Wheeljack notices a cache of synthetic energon in the corner of the room and, with Ultra Magnus's blessing, tosses a grenade at it. The Autobots transform and drive away at high speed, but come to a stop as Predaking, in robot mode, GroundBridges right in front of them much to their surprise. Ultra Magnus, seeing the symbol on Predaking's chest, identifies him. Just then, the laboratory behind them explodes in a massive fireball.

On the surface, Bulkhead and Smokescreen emerge from the mine just as the ground is shaken by the explosion. Optimus Prime stares at the mine with a grave expression.

Predaking, meanwhile, stares in horror at the charred remains of Shockwave's lab. With a roar, he attacks the two Autobots, his powerful blows sending them flying through the air. Wheeljack mounts a brief and successful counterattack, but Predaking quickly regains the upper hand, until Ultra Magnus lays into him with the Forge of Solus Prime. Magnus and his hammer buy Wheeljack time to recover, and the two Autobots launch a powerful combined attack that ends when they bring a colossal stalactite crashing down on the Predacon. But Predaking merely lifts the stalactite off him and uses it as a weapon to knock Ultra Magnus to the ground and crush Wheeljack against a wall. Magnus reaches for the Forge, but Predaking jumps up and lands on his hand, smashing it underfoot until the Autobot's fingers are nothing but ruined scrap flattened into the ground. Wheeljack laments that he was just starting to tolerate his commander, and Ultra Magnus responds by saying it was an honor to serve with him. Predaking snaps the Forge in half. He makes ready for the killing blow when Optimus Prime flies in and sends the Predacon sprawling. Optimus unleashes his gatling gun on the cave ceiling, raining rubble down on Predaking and allowing him to grab his wounded comrades. Optimus flies them out of the mine with Predaking in close pursuit, and is able to make it through a GroundBridge before a blast of flame makes contact. Predaking roars in rage.

Ultra Magnus comes back online to find himself on Ratchet's operating table while the medic cauterizes the jagged stump of metal that remains of his hand. The other Autobots are gathered around, with Wheeljack musing that Magnus fought like a Wrecker. Ultra Magnus asks Optimus what he was referring to earlier that could be greater than an army. Optimus says that it is a human concept called family.

On the Nemesis, Starscream and Knock Out can barely stifle their amusement as Megatron promises Predaking that they will make the Autobots pay for what they've done. From his lab, Shockwave confirms that the clones are beyond salvaging, but says that there's something in the ruins Megatron must see. Megatron and Starscream GroundBridge down to it and are stunned to find a large quantity of pure cyber-matter, like that which once existed on ancient Cybertron, and which more recently created the Decepticon citadel. Shockwave theorizes that it was created when the explosion mixed the CNA of the Predacon clones with Knock Out's synthetic energon.
Notes
Errors
* Shockwave said that the Predacon clones would have fully evolved within a few solar cycles. Given he's simply cloning them, "matured" or "grown" would have been more appropriate. But then again, Shockwave's choice of diction has been odd at times.
* When Optimus smashes Predaking away just before the latter could end Ultra Magnus's life, his jetpack is active and running. As he watches his target slam against the wall, his boosters and jetpack just fold away without the usual set of clicks and clanks.
* Shortly before Magnus hurls Wheeljack into the air with the Forge during the attack in the cave, the sound of his footsteps is horribly out of sync with his actual leg movement.

Continuity notes
* Starscream's reluctance to follow Megatron into another abandoned mine calls back to "Rock Bottom".
* The experiment Starscream apologizes for, which resulted in the loss of the Insecticons, happened in "Thirst".
* Shockwave's off-site laboratory was first mentioned in "Chain of Command".
* Knock Out's synthetic energon is derived from Ratchet's formula, which Knock Out obtained in "Stronger, Faster". He was ordered to turn over his research on the subject to Shockwave in the previous episode.
* Ultra Magnus questions Ratchet on his progress into the synthetic energon formula. Ratchet began working on his own formula again in "Project Predacon".
* Wheeljack asks Ultra Magnus for permission to employ a grenade in a confined space, a tactic for which he was reprimanded in "Chain of Command".
* Megatron's citadel Darkmount was created by the Omega Lock in "Darkest Hour".

Transformers references
* Ultra Magnus was one of the Elite Guard during the war for Cybertron.
* Starscream refers to an evolution that will become a revolution. "Evolution Revolution" was a teaser theme used for Beast Machines.
* Wheeljack shows a high mechanical aptitude by increasing the output of Ultra Magnus's ship's engines. We have yet to see if the engines work as efficiently as he said.

Trivia
* This is an episode of firsts for Predaking: it's the first time he transforms, the first time he speaks, and the first time his name is used.
* While grouping Bulkhead, Ultra Magnus, and Wheeljack together as Wreckers is nothing new, Optimus has named his remaining usual field units (Arcee, Bumblebee, and Smokescreen) as the Stealth Team.
* We learn that the original Predacons of Cybertron faced a similar apocalyptic wipeout to that of the dinosaurs of Earth, further reinforcing the parallels drawn between the two.
* Like Arcee, Predaking undergoes a dramatic amount of size changing when transforming, but in reverse. He goes from a colossal monster that Megatron can barely look in the chest to a beefy robot about a head taller than Megatron.
The Autobots face the Decepticons for a final showdown.

Synopsis
The Autobots storm the Nemesis via the outer hull, while Ratchet lets them know he's heading for the Omega Lock's control station. As he approaches the ship, Optimus orders Arcee's team to join Ratchet while Ultra Magnus and the Wreckers take the bridge. Arcee asks if they should destroy the lock, but Optimus does not intend to pass up a second chance to restore Cybertron. Smokescreen has to be prompted to follow the others when he's momentarily distracted by the sight of Megatron arriving on the upper deck slinging the Dark Star Saber to face Prime. The Decepticon leader uses the sword to damage Optimus's jet pack. Optimus manages to land on one of the lower spires and starts climbing up.

Telling them he has something he needs to do, Smokescreen leaves Arcee and Bumblebee, much to Arcee's annoyance. Meanwhile, Ratchet reaches the control station and begins facing off, rather badly, against Shockwave. Arcee and Bumblebee approach the control station as well, but they're cut off by Starscream and a bunch of Air Vehicons who open fire on them. Elsewhere, Knock Out packs for a journey he might have to make. Smokescreen arrives at the warship's storage chamber and retrieves the Star Saber.

Ultra Magnus and his team storm the bridge; however, their attempt is cut short by Soundwave, who GroundBridges them to the brig, where they're quickly surrounded. Ultra Magnus notifies everyone that his team has been delayed, which gives Jack an idea. He asks Raf to bridge him onto the Nemesis bridge as he's come up with a plan.

On the warship, Shockwave finishes pummeling Ratchet and is about to finish the Autobot off, but is interrupted by the Omega Lock signaling that it's ready to fire. As he opens the huge portal to ready the firing sequence, he spots Optimus hanging onto the Omega Lock's structure and is forced to take cover as Optimus opens fire. Megatron soon arrives to engage Optimus directly and orders Shockwave to begin the firing sequence.

Knock Out, wandering the corridors, finds himself cut off by the fighting. The bridge, meanwhile, is invaded by Jack and an Apex Armor-clad Miko. She quickly finishes off the Vehicons onsite, but Soundwave advances on her with an open GroundBridge. Jack tells Raf to open a GroundBridge right behind to Soundwave, and the conflicting bridge energies promptly transwarp Soundwave into the shadowzone. As Jack and Miko head to the controls, the Omega Lock begins powering up. On its rim, Optimus and Megatron continue to battle, with Optimus knocking the Dark Star Saber from Megatron's grip and decking him. Megatron orders Shockwave to prepare to fire, but is interrupted by the ship lurching while under Jack's control.

Down below, Smokescreen passes Arcee and Bumblebee, carrying the Star Saber into the Omega Lock control room. He attempts to throw the sword down to Optimus, only to be blasted by Shockwave. Arcee, Bumblebee, Starscream and Shockwave all run for the weapon. Arcee is forced to take out Starscream, and Bumblebee reaches the Star Saber first. He throws it up in the air, decking Shockwave and cracking his optic before grabbing the sword midair. Ratchet warns Optimus that he must use the Star Saber to destroy the Omega Lock; however, as Bumblebee jumps to pass the weapon to Optimus, he's blasted repeatedly by Megatron. As other Autobots and Decepticons watch in horror and glee (guess which), Bumblebee's optics flicker out, and he dies. He plunges lifelessly into the Omega Lock's energy field.

Outraged, Optimus smashes Megatron backward in a series of powerful blows, only to be knocked off the Omega Lock when Megatron recovers the Dark Star Saber and uses its wave attack to blast Optimus. As Prime clings to the side, Megatron prepares to finish the Autobot off, only to turn around in response to someone calling his name. Bumblebee runs him through with the Star Saber, and as everyone looks on in shock, Megatron dies and his body falls from the Omega Lock and plunges Earthward, burning as it enters the atmosphere. Bumblebee helps Optimus climb up as the remaining Decepticons scramble to escape. As the Autobots reunite, they marvel at the fact that Bumblebee has his voice back, and Optimus passes on the news to Magnus's team and Hangar E that Megatron has perished. With the ship now under Autobot control, Optimus orders Magnus to set course for Cybertron. Bumblebee radios Raf to let him know to come up so he can be there for the restoration of Cybertron.

As the ship passes through the space bridge, Starscream and Shockwave reach the escape pods to find there's only one left. They cram into it and eject, though Starscream complains about the cramped conditions. Ratchet explains that he does not have the complete formula to synthesize cyber-matter (never having learned Shockwave's portion of it) and the current amount was intended to cyberform Earth, not the much larger Cybertron. Optimus directs the ship to the Well of All Sparks, so they can revitalize Cybertron's core. The beam of energy strikes Cybertron's core, and the planet is soon restored and glowing a healthy blue. On the bridge, Knock Out admires the planet's new luster, and claims to be "joining the winning team", only to be decked by Miko. Predaking, still clinging to the hull, looks out over Cybertron before transforming and flying off.

Back on Earth, Optimus gives a speech about how they're going to miss Earth. Fowler says the three kids will be members of Unit:E, June modifying it by mentioning that they'll be in a consulting capacity only until they're of age, and Ratchet takes the opportunity to announce he's staying on Earth. Bumblebee, Bulkhead and Arcee give a tearful farewell to their respective partners, while Fowler, Magnus, Wheeljack and Smokescreen share a mutual salute. As the Autobots head through the space bridge, Optimus gives Ratchet a last goodbye, and with a final lingering look at his human companions, strides through after his team.
Notes
Animation and technical errors
* Ultra Magnus goes into the battle using his built-in blasters, but in the next scene is lugging around the same handheld cannon he used in "Rebellion".
* Even though the ship is orbiting Earth, Transformers and objects fall at a rate consistent with Earth-normal gravity outside of the ship.
* Though it makes sense that Megatron and Optimus failed to notice Bumblebee's revival, certainly the assembled Autobots and Decepticons should have, considering Bumblebee would have had to climb out of the cybermatter pool, grab the sword, then walk over to Megatron to stab him with it.
* When Jack arrives on the Nemesis, Laserbeak (on Soundwave's chest) is missing its left wing.
*As Bumblebee is blasted by Megatron, the Star Saber falls with him at the same angle, apparently towards the cybermatter pool. Yet when Bumblebee falls in, the Saber clangs to the surface of the Omega Lock rather than in the pool, as its trajectory would suggest.
*Knock-Out is only feet from the Autobots when he comments on a restored Cybertron's beauty, yet no one noticed him until then?

Continuity notes
* Megatron hasn't used the Dark Star Saber since "Darkest Hour", the last episode of last season.
* Ultra Magnus refers to Soundwave's combat GroundBridging as a "relocation trick", which he had used on Arcee in "Orion Pax, Part 1", a Predacon bone fragment in "Project Predacon", and Airachnid and her Insecticons in "Thirst".
* Miko previously used the Apex Armor in "Chain of Command".
* Jack, Miko, and Raf experienced the effects of crossed GroundBridges firsthand in "Shadowzone".
* The Immobilizer is seen in a stasis field in the vault, thus accounting for all the weapons left on Cybertron last season.
* The Star Saber was previously seen in the Decepticon vault in "Prey". Despite not making a note of it then, that fact did not escape Smokescreen's notice.
* Bumblebee's formerly-destroyed voicebox was the result of a run-in with Megatron at Tyger Pax, as explained in "Operation Bumblebee, Part 1" and the novel, Transformers: Exodus.
* The Autobots fire the Omega Lock into the Well of All Sparks, last seen in flashback in "One Shall Rise, Part 1".
* Predaking is revealed to have survived Megatron's attack from the previous episode.
* This is the second time Knock Out has mentioned being on the "winning team".
* Wheeljack takes the lobbing ball with him to Cybertron. It was last seen in "Project Predacon".
*This is the first time Optimus and Megatron have seen each other since "Rebellion".

Real-world references
* Raf refers to opening conflicting Space Bridge portals as 'crossing the streams', a term from Ghostbusters for literally touching the energy streams created by the series' signature energy backpacks. Coincidentally, this was also a technique of last resort with potentially devastating consequences. The same term was used the first time this happened.

Trivia
* Between solicitations for upcoming issues of the Beast Hunters comic (which revealed that Cybertron would be restored), the press release for the Predacons Rising movie (which revealed that Megatron was going to die) and a clip shown at the Prime panel at the San Diego Comic Con and later released online (which revealed that Bumblebee would regain his voice), a well-informed Transfan had pretty much every surprise of this episode spoiled by official sources well in advance of its airing. Boo.
* Just before Megatron retrieves the Dark Star Saber from the Omega Lock to use its wave attack to push Optimus off the side, it emits a sound very similar to the original Star Saber sword whenever it was activated.
* Ratchet kept saying that he wanted to go back to Cybertron, and that he wouldn't forgive Optimus for leaving him on a planet with humans. Evidently, he has grown used to them, and stays behind anyway, claiming that he's needed in Unit:E. Though he may have grown attached to Earth, and humans, his technical skills would likely be of more use in rebuilding Cybertron.
* While the limited cybermatter created to cyberform Earth was enough to restore Cybertron's core, the surface is still in ruins. Ratchet predicted this much would happen in the previous season, even though he was technically wrong at the time. The original Omega Lock could have restored both the surface and the core.
* Bumblebee was wearing a battle mask over his mouth for the whole series, which is revealed when he retracts it upon discovering he can speak again.
* Soundwave has his Spacebridge trump card used against him (at last).
* The Nemesis appears to be airtight, or at the very least, its bridge. The humans are able to stand around in a very casual way without any form of breathing equipment.
* Megatron is able to use the Dark Star Saber without having the arm of the Prime. It appears he designed it to be used by non-Primes despite it being created with the Forge of Solus Prime.
* Omega Lock's cybermatter was able to fully heal Bumblebee's deadly wounds and to restore his voice box, so couldn't Autobots to use it to restore Ultra Magnus' hand?
Predaking reveals his secret, causing the Decepticons to question the wisdom of their cloning project.

Synopsis
While a storm rages, Megatron and Starscream fly down from the Nemesis to the entrance of a mine. This feeling "uncomfortably familiar" to Starscream, he reluctantly follows Megatron inside and immediately begins playing down his "latest indiscretion". Megatron furiously reminds Starscream that his actions cost them the entire Insecticon hive and a great deal of their regular troops, prompting Starscream to beg for his life. Megatron sighs wearily and proceeds deeper into the mine, which Starscream finally realizes is Shockwave's off-site laboratory.

A new Autobot arrives just as the Decepticons unleash the ultimate hunter.

Synopsis
Shockwave reveals the Predacon he's cloned in his laboratory. Megatron is impressed, and as the scientist gives the Predacon a whiff of Wheeljack's energon, announces that the hunt has begun.

Bulkhead, Wheeljack and Miko scope out an energon mine, planning to blow it up to hopefully draw the attention of nearby Autobots, while in the Harbinger, Raf, Ratchet and Bumblebee work on getting the ship systems up and running. On a deserted road, Arcee introduces Jack to Ultra Magnus, who has followed the Omega beam to Earth. Jack is discouraged by the fact that Ultra Magnus's sensors have only picked up five out of seven Autobots, but Arcee reminds him that the sensors wouldn't pick up shielded Autobots.

Smokescreen heads into Darkmount to find the Forge of Solus Prime and figures it may have been stored within the Nemesis. Using the phase shifter, he moves through the ship and eventually stumbles onto the vault where both Airachnid and the Forge are being stored.

Wheeljack and Bulkhead finish planting explosives in the mine, but as they prepare to detonate, they spot the incoming Predacon. After dodging its initial blast of flame, they try to counterattack, and Wheeljack is knocked flying by the thing's tail. Bulkhead belts the creature shortly before it attacks him with a blast of flame, sending him flying. They quickly realise it's after Wheeljack, who lures it over a grenade. The beast is unscathed by the explosion, so Wheeljack instead leads it into the energon mine before speeding out and setting off the explosions. The dust barely has time to settle before the creature digs its way out. As the Wreckers prepare to fight, Ultra Magnus's ship streaks into view, striking the Predacon with its cannons and picking the trio up. Though a joyous reunion ensues, the ship's still being pursued. His ship's engine is damaged in the chase, and the creature manages to catch up and cling to the hull. Bringing the ship into a narrow canyon, Magnus scraps the Predacon off using a rocky outcropping.

Fowler gets another call he thinks is from Megatron, but this time it's Ratchet, who has hacked into the Decepticon frequencies. Ratchet doesn't have any news of Jack for June, but before he can tell them much else, Bumblebee interrupts the call. Running outside, they find Ultra Magnus's ship landing, and more reunions take place.

The Predacon returns empty-handed to Darkmount, and Starscream reflects that it's a pity the creature can't tell them what went wrong. It responds by quietly growling.

Ratchet reports that the Harbinger GroundBridge is fully operational. The group of Autobots is soon joined by Fowler and Jack's mom. They wonder where Smokescreen's gotten to, as all the Autobot traces Magnus could detect are now accounted for. Regardless, they prepare to fight back against Megatron without either of the missing Autobots—Ultra Magnus assumes command and takes the other Autobots to equip themselves with weapons.

Smokescreen drags the Forge back to the cavern where Optimus is sheltered, but Optimus insists the Forge's power is limited and must be conserved to repair the Omega Lock. Smokescreen points out that if Optimus dies, there won't be a Prime to work the Forge, but Optimus says it's time for a new leader, and believes Smokescreen is it.

Notes
Animation and technical errors
* Megatron's forearm seems to go through his shoulder armor during the scene where the Decepticons discuss Predaking's failure.
* Right before the Predacon roars for the first time the groundbridge he came through does not make any noise as it closes.

Continuity errors
* Ratchet claims that Smokescreen departed the base in "Darkest Hour" to coordinates that only Optimus knows of. Yet, it was Ratchet who set the coordinates each time someone went through the GroundBridge, so he should know where each team member was sent.
* In "Regeneration", Optimus claimed that recreating the Omega Keys was beyond his skill. Unless repairing an existing object doesn't require such skill, it seems even less likely that he or any Autobot given Prime status would be capable of repairing the far more complex device they were intended to operate. For that matter, it seems likely the keys themselves were destroyed in the blast.

Continuity notes
*Both Airachnid and the Forge were found in the remains of the Autobot base back in "Darkmount, NV".
*The Star Saber can be briefly seen in a containment field over Smokescreen's shoulder after he gets spooked by Airachnid. Evidently the Decepticons recovered it sometime between "Darkmount, NV" and this episode.

Transformers references
*Taking note of Bumblebee's inverted paint job, Arcee dismissively comments that doing the same in her case would render her mostly pink, the dominant color for virtually every other version of Arcee (not to mention her own War for Cybertron body design).

Real-world references
*When Miko believes the explosion of the energon mine set off by Bulkhead and Wheeljack has successfully destroyed Predaking, she shouts "Snuff the Tragic Dragon"; a play on the words of the song "Puff the Magic Dragon" by Peter, Paul, and Mary.

Trivia
*The worldwide premiere screening of the first three episodes was held at the Globe Theater in Universal Studios Hollywood on March 14.
*The worldwide television premiere of "Prey" was a day later on okto, a Singaporean channel, where it aired back-to-back with "Darkmount, NV" and "Scattered".
*Wheeljack does not appear to be very happy about reuniting with his unit commander from the war, given that Ultra Magnus led the Wreckers on all of their excursions. This could be attributed to Wheeljack's insubordination and Magnus's exaggerated regard for military protocol. "Chain of Command" would later clarify that Magnus took over the Wreckers at a later time in order to fold them back under proper military command, a situation which drove Wheeljack to desert due to their conflicting attitudes.
Notes
Animation and technical errors
* Megatron's forearm seems to go through his shoulder armor during the scene where the Decepticons discuss Predaking's failure.
* Right before Predaking roars for the first time the groundbridge he came through does not make any noise as it closes.

Animation and technical errors
* Even though the ship is orbiting Earth, Transformers and objects fall at a rate consistent with Earth-normal gravity outside of the ship.
* Even though the Star Saber was embedded to the halfway point in Megatron's chest the tip is not covered in Dark Energon.

Continuity notes
* Jack, Miko, and Raf experienced the effects of crossed GroundBridges firsthand in "Shadowzone".
* Bumblebee gets his voice back in this episode. His voicebox was destroyed in the events of Tyger Pax as explained in "Operation Bumblebee, Part 2". His voicebox, as well as his wounds, were restored through the Cyber Matter in the Omega Lock. It is rather fitting how it is him who delivers the final blow to destroy Megatron.
* Miko previously used the Apex Armor in "Chain of Command".
* The Star Saber was previously seen in the Decepticon vault in "Prey". Despite not making a note of it then, that fact did not escape Smokescreen's notice.
* Ultra Magnus refers to Soundwave's combat GroundBridging as a "relocation trick", which he has used on Arcee in "Orion Pax, Part 1", a Predacon bone fragment in "Project Predacon", and Airachnid and her Insecticons in "Thirst".
* The Autobots fire the Omega Lock into the Well of All Sparks, last seen in flashback in "One Shall Rise, Part 1".
* Predaking is revealed to have survived Megatron's attack from the previous episode with some minor damage.
Trivia
* Ratchet keeps saying he wants to go back to Cybertron and that he won't forgive Optimus for leaving him on a planet with humans, he stays behind anyways! Apparently, he has grown used to them.
* Megatron is able to wield the Dark Star Saber without the use of his Prime arm. A possible explanation is that the Prime arm was only required to wield the Forge of Solus Prime to create it, not the saber itself. Alternatively, Megatron could have designed his Saber to not require a Prime's touch during its making.
* Soundwave isn't the only Decepticon who is trapped the Shadowzone.
*Bumblebee was wearing a battle mask over his mouth for the whole series.
The Autobots attempt to rescue one of their own by tracking the Decepticon warship.

Synopsis
Team Prime gathers outside their base for the launch of Raf's probe, Chip. It will instinctively follow its signal to the Decepticon warship with Optimus Prime following right behind, ready to relay the ship's coordinates to the other Autobots. Optimus tells Raf that Ratchet would be proud of what he's done, and a moment later, both Chip and the Autobot leader take off into the night sky.

In Knock Out's laboratory, Ratchet and Shockwave discuss the issue at hand: once a stable form of synthetic energon exists, it will be able to bond with CNA to create a stable form of Cyber Matter. Knock Out muses that this good fortune wouldn't have come about had the Decepticons not let the Autobots destroy the Predacon clones. Ratchet picks up on the use of the word "let", but Knock Out and Shockwave quickly change the subject.

Team Prime continues to monitor Optimus as he follows Chip. Jack wonders what will happen when the Decepticons pick up Laserbeak's signal, and Raf says they're counting on Optimus making visual contact with the Nemesis before that happens.

On the ship, Knock Out is bristling at being reduced to an assistant in his own lab. He fetches a CNA sample from a locked cabinet for Shockwave, not noticing when a second sample jar tips over and blocks the cabinet's sliding door from closing again. Ratchet does notice, and asks Knock Out to fetch another lab instrument to distract him while he yanks the sample jar free.

Megatron is watching a computer simulation of Earth's cyberformation when Soundwave alerts him that Laserbeak's signal has been detected outside the ship. Starscream notes the impossibility of that, as Laserbeak is right there in front of them. Megatron recognizes it for an Autobot trick, the complexity of which suggesting that Starscream failed to destroy their base. Starscream hastily volunteers to troubleshoot the problem.

With the aid of the Decepticons' advanced technology, Ratchet is able to complete the Synth En formula. His elation disappears upon hearing Megatron's voice over the comm system, ordering Shockwave to assist in the final stages of the Omega Lock's assembly. Ratchet realizes he can never allow Megatron to possess the formula, and deletes it from the computer before setting off an explosion in the corner of the lab and blaming it on the formula's instability. Knock Out calls in some Vehicons to help extinguish the blaze, and when the lab's doors open, Ratchet transforms and drives out.

Optimus Prime continues following Chip until Starscream appears, firing a missile at him. Optimus dodges and fires back with his gatling gun. A squadron of Vehicons join the aerial assault, but Optimus blasts through them with ease. Starscream realizes Laserbeak's frequency isn't emanating from Optimus and continues the search for its source.

Knock Out alerts Megatron to the prisoner's escape, while Ratchet dodges Vehicon fire throughout the halls of the ship. He doesn't get far before Megatron finds him, stopping the ambulance in its tracks by stomping on it. Ratchet warns Megatron that if he kills him, he'll never get the Synth En formula. Megatron assures him that his experts are untangling Ratchet's false trail of information and will soon find the answer themselves.

Starscream finally locates Chip, destroying the probe with a single missile. Optimus opens fire on him, but is unable to prevent the Decepticon from escaping through a mid-air GroundBridge. Optimus is left alone in the sky, with no trail to follow.

Knock Out retrieves Ratchet's stolen sample of CNA and Shockwave confirms the stability of the Synth En formula. With the aid of hyper-acceleration technology, it will not take long to begin production. Megatron fulfills his promise by having Ratchet taken to Predaking's quarters. The self-proclaimed leader of the Predacons wastes no time attacking the helpless Autobot in the name of his slaughtered kin.

Shockwave begins the synthesis of the Cyber Matter, and Megatron orders the Omega Lock to be moved into ready position.

Just as Predaking is about to finish off his prey, Ratchet warns the Predacon not to let his vengeance end with him, but to continue avenging right up to Megatron. Predaking asks what he means, and Ratchet explains Megatron's role in the destruction of the Predacon clones. He challenges Predaking to analyze the situation; the enormity of the supposed coincidence that the Autobots somehow stumbled upon Shockwave's lab while looking for Energon. Predaking, starting to become convinced, asks why Megatron would wish to harm his kind. Ratchet says that Megatron fears him, and any like him. Enraged, Predaking storms into the halls, demolishing Vehicons along the way. One Vehicon is able to alert Megatron to the rampage before being terminated.

Ratchet makes his way to a communications array and contacts Optimus and Team Prime. Their joy is cut short when Ratchet reveals that Megatron has a working Omega Lock and is about the cyberform the planet. He deactivates the ship's shielding, allowing the Autobots to get a fix on his location, but is forced to leave the array by the sound of approaching gunfire. Optimus orders the Autobots to lock onto Ratchet's coordinates and storm the Decepticon ship. Miko sadly says that they can't leave without saying goodbye, but Fowler promises her they'll be back. The Autobots gear up with the arsenal from Ultra Magnus's ship, and Raf opens a GroundBridge to the Nemesis. As they enter, Optimus Prime tells them that this may be their last battle. But for the sake of Ratchet, Earth, and Cybertron, they must take the Decepticon warship.

Megatron, followed by Starscream and Knock Out, heads for the ship's vault, wondering aloud how the so-called Predacon king will fare against the Dark Star Saber. They're interrupted by Predaking, who tosses a deactivated Vehicon in their direction. Knock Out continues to the vault while Predaking asks if Megatron truly planned the destruction of his Predacon army. Megatron says he did, and his only mistake was not including Predaking in the destruction. He lands a few hits with his blade before Predaking overpowers him, clubbing him with the deactivated body of a Vehicon and knocking him down the length of the hall. Starscream distracts Predaking momentarily with a missile in the back, allowing Megatron to hurl the Predacon into the room behind them. Megatron hits a button on a computer panel inside the room, opening a door to the outside directly behind Predaking. He grips the sides of the door frame to fight against the sudden air pressure, but a blast from Megatron's cannon sends him tumbling out of the ship and into the clouds. Starscream closes the hull door and Knock Out arrives with the Dark Star Saber just as a Vehicon reports over the comm that the Autobots are attacking the ship. Megatron grabs the Dark Star Saber and tells the Decepticons to prepare to make their last stand.

Ratchet: Thank you.<br/>
Knock Out: [Turns to leave, stops, looks back at Ratchet] You're welcome.
:—A little politeness goes a long way.

Megatron: Starscream, you did destroy the Autobot base, did you not?<br/>
Starscream: With great fervor, my lord. Why do you ask?<br/>
Megatron: Because Laserbeak's frequency has been detected on radar.<br/>
Starscream: But that's not possible. He's right here in Soundwave's torso.
:—A sentence you can only get from Transformers.

Knock Out: [Over comm] Lord Megatron. There's been a situation...more like an accident, really--<br/>
Megatron: Spit. It. OUT!
:—Megatron is a man who insists on hearing bad news immediately.

"At last. Good riddance to a wretched species."<br/>
"Although I will say they manufacture some fine-looking automobiles."
:—Starscream and Knock Out debate the merits of Earth.

Predaking: Why would my liege wish to destroy us?<br/>
Ratchet: Having just been on the receiving end of your might, one theory springs to mind. Megatron fears you.
:—Maybe it was calling yourself a king that did it.

"Is it true that you ordered the annihilation of my army?"<br/>
"Indeed. And my only mistake was not seeing the extermination through."
:—Predaking learns that Megatron doesn't fear him quite so much as Ratchet thought.

The Beast Wars are the melodramatically-named battles between Optimus Primal's Maximals and Megatron's Predacons on prehistoric Earth. Originally an isolated conflict between the stranded Maximals and Predacons over territory and energon, the conflict gradually became an event that would affect not only the future of the Transformers, but also the very fabric of space and time.

The Beast Wars may not have formally begun until Primal's declaration on prehistoric Earth, but they were precipitated on Cybertron 300 years after the end of the Great War. The Predacon Megatron had stolen the Golden Disk, escaping with his band of rogues in a transwarp ship. A Maximal exploration vessel, the only one near enough to catch them, gave chase through a transwarp portal. Their ensuing battle ended with both ships crashing on a planet that all parties believed to be an unknown world. The truth that they had reached Megatron's intended destination of prehistoric Earth would not come to light for some time.

One source of confusion was the overabundant energon, so plentiful that its ubiquitous radiation would overload the Transformers' systems within minutes if they left their ships. They adopted semi-organic beast modes to shield themselves, though their robot modes were still vulnerable. Primal feared that Megatron would use the energon to restart the Great War on Cybertron, so he immediately prepped his small crew to fight against the comparably-sized Predacon team.

One might say that the first shot of the Beast Wars was fired by Cheetor, who spotted Waspinator (in insect mode, no less) and immediately attacked him. Beast Wars (Part 1) This led to a series of territorial skirmishes culminating in the detonation of an energon-infused mountain. Primal, realizing that a long fight lay ahead, made his epic pronouncement that their battles would be known as the "Beast Wars". Beast Wars (Part 2)

As they explored their world, they found powerful artifacts of a mysterious alien race, including another Golden Disk. These finds tended to lead to battles as Megatron tried to claim the artifacts as weapons; however, the only lasting effect was to alert the aliens to the Transformers' presence. Deciding that their experiment on the planet had been contaminated, the aliens activated one of its two moons. Other Voices, Part 1 The satellite turned into a weapon that ignited most of the energon deposits around the world. Realizing just how powerful the aliens were, Megatron schemed all the more intently on hijacking their technology. And, in the absence of overwhelming energon (and a moon), the Beast Warriors slowly began to realize that they were on prehistoric Earth after all. This turned the battle away from territorial squabbles and toward matters of timeline-alteration. With information from the Golden Disk he had stolen, Megatron was able to threaten both the developing human race and the comatose, Ark-bound Autobots. Code of Hero
Back on the Cybertron of their home-time, the Tripredacus Council became aware of Megatron's location, and they sent their Decepticon-turned-Predacon agent Ravage to retrieve the rogue. The Agenda (Part 1) He nearly succeeded, but he ended up switching sides when Megatron revealed the truth about the Golden Disk: the original Megatron had left a message on the disk, included access codes to the Ark, and had instructed the descendants of the Decepticons to travel through time to locate the Ark and kill Optimus Prime while he was still in stasis lock. The Agenda (Part 2) Ravage would end up giving his life while aiding Megatron. The Agenda (Part III) And Megatron himself almost destroyed Optimus Prime, which caused a timestorm, but the Maximals were able to repair the Autobot and preserve the status quo. Optimal Situation

The last encounter with the aliens came in the form of Tigerhawk, an emissary created from two kidnapped Maximals. He identified the aliens as the "Vok" and tried to destroy Megatron for his temporal interference. But despite his vast power, he was subdued by Tarantulas, who extracted the Vok essence from him. This ended explosively, with Tarantulas apparently destroyed and Tigerhawk left a mere Maximal again. Other Victories But little was learned about him before he perished when Megatron raised the Nemesis from the ocean floor and rained havoc upon Maximal and Predacon alike. Nemesis Part 1 In defending the Ark, the Maximals managed to bring the Nemesis down and capture Megatron, whose troops had either deserted or been destroyed. Optimus Primal and the Predacon Megatron were also caught up in this massive battle—Point Omega—which ended with the dispatching of the Dark Essence and the nullifying of its connected timeline. After Optimus Primal and his Maximals left Earth with Megatron in chains, the Beast Wars continued in a fashion. Tarantulas, believed dead, was actually still alive and more dangerous than ever, wielding the captured power of the Vok who had come with Tigerhawk. He resurrected Ravage and gathered a few other Predacons as well (presumably from stasis pods), set on claiming the Matrix of Leadership. It's unknown what happened afterwards, but Primal Prime (showing no signs of Vok-possession) and his crew (minus Airazor and plus Spittor) would eventually travel to Vehicon-era Cybertron via transwarp portal—the same portal simultaneously whisking Apelinq to the past. Apelinq's War Journals The rest of Tarantulas's team would never be seen again, though Tarantulas himself did return to Unicron. Escape (Universe) The Matrix had presumably been taken back from him and replaced in Prime's chest, as no subsequent disruption of history was ever mentioned.
Before the Beast Wars, Megatron and Dinobot infiltrated the Vector Sigma chamber and stole from it the Golden Disk.

After Ravage's failure, the Tripredacus Council sent another agent, Magmatron, to perform the same task. Unlike Ravage, he took a team with him, and also unlike Ravage, they were all chronally displaced to be just out of sync with the core Beast Warriors. While the new arrivals could see them, they couldn't see the new arrivals. And one could even walk right through the other. Thus, the core Beast Warriors were completely unaware when Magmatron activated dozens of the downed stasis pods to create a chronally-displaced army. But one of his soldiers, Razorbeast, was a spy who was able to turn many of the protoforms to Maximals. Foreseeing the scope of the impending battles, Magmatron declared the start of his own "Beast Wars". The Gathering issue 1

As both groups tracked down their widespread, newly-activated allies, Magmatron realized he needed assistance to fulfill his mission. He was able to recover Ravage's spark from his corpse, and he gave the Decepticon new life in a blank protoform. While Ravage led the main Predacon force against Razorbeast and the Maximals, Magmatron captured Megatron. The Gathering issue 3 To do so, he had to undo his chronal displacement, and this would be his downfall. While Magmatron was preparing the unconscious Megatron for transwarp delivery to Cybertron, Razorbeast stole his chronal-phase armband and used it to slip in and out of sync as he attacked the Predacon. Megatron was freed, and Magmatron was thrown into his own transwarp device, which catapulted him out of normal space entirely. The Gathering issue 4

But, as Prowl would note, this did not end their particular Beast Wars. Ravage's Predacons continued to harry Razorbeast's Maximals, attempting to recover the stolen chronal-phase facilitators. Meanwhile, on the Cybertron of their home-time, a drug-like substance called "Angolmois" was spreading amongst the population. Magmatron, floating through chronospace, could see that Angolmois was a tool for the resurrection of Unicron, and Cybertron was almost inevitably doomed. The Ascending issue 1 But even trapped outside of space-time, he was able to deliver messages to Lio Convoy on Cybertron and Ravage on Earth, bringing the various teams together against their common enemy.

Lio Convoy and his Pack journeyed to prehistoric Earth to retrieve the combatants of the new Beast Wars, but they were ambushed by Angolmois-infused servants of Unicron. The Ascending issue 2 The Pack only managed to bring a handful of Beast Warriors back to Cybertron—just in time to fight Shokaract, who was the conduit of Angolmois energy. They were able to defeat him with a chronal-phase facilitator, shunting him into chronospace with Magmatron. There, Magmatron showed him how Unicron would use him as a vessel for his return, destroying the hapless Shokaract in the process. In horror, Shokaract tore the Anti-Matrix from his own chest, self-destructing and sending Magmatron back to normal space.

With the help of a retrovirus, the Maximals set about undoing the effects of Angolmois across the planet. Meanwhile, Megatron had just returned from the Beast Wars, set to unleash his new threat. And on prehistoric Earth, the servants of Unicron were destroyed, but Razorbeast had fallen victim to an Angolmois injection and was euthanized at his own request. The united Maximals and Predacons around him mourned his passing. The Ascending issue 4

Just before the Beast Wars, the Predacon crimelord Cryotek engineered the theft of the Golden Disk. He put his star pupil, Megatron, in charge of the actual operation. Secretly, Cryotek set his protégé up by alerting the Maximals, with the intent that a more loyal agent would deliver the disk to him while Megatron took the fall. Unfortunately for Cryotek, Megatron beat him to the treacherous punch, as the package Cryotek received only contained a Maximal homing beacon. While Maximal forces converged on Cryotek, Megatron and his cohorts escaped with the disk in the Darksyde. Theft of the Golden Disk
This would prove a wise decision, as the Maximal Imperium sent the Axalon in pursuit. Just out of Cybertronian orbit, the two bird-bots attacked the Axalon in a ship of their own. The battle was going against the Maximals until Tigatron and Airazor came to their rescue. The Decepticon ship was destroyed, but Tigatron and Airazor were left in critical condition. Rhinox saved them by transferring their sparks to blank protoforms at the expense of much or all of their "core mainframes". Dawn of Future's Past
When Jetfire went undercover as a Decepticon, he searched the Axalon archives for a past Decepticon to pattern himself after. He took the name "Sky Shadow" in reference to a long-lost "Predacon/Decepticon". This warrior had once been a lieutenant of Megatron, and he had been "sent to Earth during the legendary Beast Wars", where he was instrumental as a strategist and leader against the Maximals.
Notably, there had been a Beast Warrior named "Sky Shadow", but the Beast Wars timelines are thought to be wholly separate from this universe. References to "Axalon", "Predacon", and "Megatron" only muddy the issue, as those names apply to some things here as well. Either this universe contains its own Beast Wars and Maximals, or some cross-dimensional travel has occurred (possibly related to the Unicron Singularity).

Fire in the Dark
A message recorded by Rhinox was found on the walls of the Labná ruins in Mexico, by a team of humans and Mini-Cons. The message recorded an incident in which the Natiltec tribe became involved in the Beast Wars and were enslaved for a time by the Predacons, before the Maximals freed them. Parts of the message made reference to a journey through time and space which the Natiltec subsequently undertook, explaining how the message came to be recorded in Mexico and possibly suggesting cross-dimensional travel. Fire in the Dark

Notes
*The exact time period of the Beast Wars (beyond simply "prehistory") was never established in the cartoon, outside of a few casual remarks by characters referring to the "four million years" timeframe. The 3H comics identify it as 180,000 BC. The IDW comics say 70,000 BC. Japanese media say it is 3,000,000 MYA. This is just one of many ways in which the spinoffs contradict each other.
*Speaking of contradictions, the first on-package bios and pack-in comic set the Beast Wars on modern-day Earth, with Primal and Megatron actually being their Generation 1 counterparts. However, as the show took off, the bios followed its lead. For a long time, the bios did not explicitly retcon their original conceits; however, ambiguity was introduced by referring to, for example, "the Beast Wars world" instead of Earth at any particular time. The final nail in this micro-continuity's coffin came with the last Beast Wars toys produced, whose bios and tie-in comic were a very intentional prequel to the cartoon.
Fowler evaded Silas's men, and when they attempted to open the trailer door, a motorcycle driver drove onto one of their cars, causing it to flip over and explode. The convoy passed through a train tunnel, and as it emerged, mysterious purple planes fired on the trailer. A hacker caused the train to diverge onto a forked track, but Silas's pilot cut the connection. Silas prepared to land on the train as his men finished cutting open the appropriate car's roof, but retreated when he saw the truck robot on the move. He wasn't going to let the enemy leave with his prize, and so fired on the train tracks to cause a crash. The truck robot managed to stop the train, and from the safety of his helicopter, Silas watched his new enemy stare back. Though a bomb waylaid Prime's team, Bulkhead broke into the tunnel and Silas retired to his helicopter outside, where he directed the MECH forces in an attempt to stop Bulkhead and Breakdown from escaping. When MECH detected a Decepticon distress signal, Silas took a team to try to secure the Decepticon for MECH's use. Unfortunately it was bait, and Airachnid was the trap. Airachnid bargained with Silas — find Jack Darby and she would allow them to keep Arcee after she was done with her. Silas used MECH technology and the web to find information on Jack and had his mother June Darby kidnapped. Arcee and Jack were lured to a temporary MECH base in a factory. While Airachnid played with Jack, Silas, not believing the Decepticon would keep her part of the deal, ordered his men to extract Arcee's heart. Though the Autobot escaped before they could extract the part and Jack stole Silas's radio to contact Fowler, Silas at least got to witness Airachnid scanning a new alternate mode. Crisscross
A MECH team led by Silas successfully lured in Bumblebee, who was stunned by their equipment. While Silas kept an eye out for Bumblebee's partner, the MECH Surgeon procured a T-cog from the subject, and Silas called a retreat. They installed it into the robot they'd built as part of Project Chimera, but to Silas's disappointment, it failed to work. Starscream, who had followed them to their base, pointed out that they required Energon to power anything Cybertronian. Starscream proposed an alliance to allow them to find Energon for them to share, which Silas accepted on the condition that there be enough for the army they intended to build. Operation Bumblebee, Part 1

After securing a supply of energon, they made another attempt to activate the robot, only for Bumblebee to attack the MECH base. Silas was knocked over during Bumblebee's assault, and instructed Starscream to collect the T-cog and meet them outside. When Starscream arrived without the cog, Silas had the MECH troopers ambush him and take his. Operation Bumblebee, Part 2
MECH found the remains of Breakdown and reported their find to Silas. Crossfire
With the completion of Nemesis Prime, Silas attempted to use their experiment to bump off Agent Fowler. When this failed, he instead used it to attack Alden Military Base to turn the military against the Autobots. This inevitably drew the Autobots to their base, and Silas used Nemesis Prime to deal with them, but while he was using Nemesis to fight Optimus, Fowler infiltrated the base and attacked him. While Silas was distracted, Optimus defeated Nemesis Prime, the mech falling through the roof on top of Silas. Gravely injured, Silas was spirited away by MECH and hooked up to life support. While the surgeon stated that nothing could be done for his body, Breakdown's body provided an alternative. Nemesis Prime (episode)

The operation was eventually completed, with Silas fully installed in Breakdown's body and brought back online. Redubbing himself Cylas, or "CYbernetic Life Augmented by Symbiosis", the first thing he did was terminate the rest of the MECH team. Cylas then attacked a military base to retrieve the results of Project Damocles. When Knock Out arrived to look for Breakdown's signal, Cylas took the opportunity to use the Damocles satellite as a bargaining chip to join the Decepticons. Megatron was skeptical at first, but had Soundwave dispatched to a base in Colorado to get the satellite control codes. Cylas assisted in the operation and when Raf tried to hack in, was sent to Jasper to deal with the boy. Before he could do so, he was attacked by Bulkhead and later Smokescreen, who kept him busy until the satellite was destroyed. Cylas was called back to the Nemesis where he was promptly shocked into immobility and hauled away to Knock Out's dissection table for his failure. The Human Factor

When Megatron looked into Starscream's memories, he found out Starscream was no longer able to transform because Silas and MECH stole his T-Cog. Patch (episode)

Despite his initial promise to dissect Cylas, Knock Out instead decided to keep him around as a guinea pig for any experiments he might want to try. While testing synthetic energon on him, noting the increased aggression from exposure, Starscream decided that combining the unstable formula with Dark Energon might provide Megatron with an alternative to his forthcoming Predacon army. Unfortunately, mixing the two only served to create an energy-hungry Terrorcon that could not be controlled and spread his condition to all he fed upon. As Cylas stumbled through the halls of the Nemesis, infected numerous Vehicons along the way, he came upon Airachnid's stasis pod. Cylas tore the pod open to feed upon her, but she got the better of him, causing critical damage before tearing away Breakdown's chest to reveal the human within. In his last moments, Cylas thanked Airachnid for terminating him. Thirst
Soon after the bungled operation in which MECH teamed with Airachnid, Silas set out to get his revenge on Jack, directing his men to blow up schools. This eventually succeeded in drawing out the boy and Silas encountered Jack while blowing up Franklin High School. Trapping him in flames, Silas headed for the roof to evacuate by helicopter, only for Jack to follow him via the fire escape and deliver a kick to his nether regions. After taking a moment to recover, Silas took advantage of the helicopter to leave Jack on the roof of the burning building. Transformers Comic issue 4.5
Silas was pleased when Agent Novo discovered a neuron refractor in China and retrieved the schematics. As a reward, Silas gave Novo the privilege of being the one to have their mind transferred into the results of Project Mechanoid, but as the refractor was in danger of overload, Silas's callous disregard for Novo's life resulted in his subordinate rebelling. Despite Silas's attempt to regain control of the situation, he had to retreat and the facility was destroyed. Transformers Comic issue 4.9
*Bumblebee vs. Starscream: Ultimate Opponents (Entertainment Pack, 2012)
: This Prime: Robots in Disguise multi-pack comes with figurines of Silas and a MECH soldier, both armed with non-removable assault rifles. Although sculpted in the same style and scale as the previous Entertainment Pack figures of Jack, Miko, and Raf, Silas has neither an articulated head, nor is his figure stand removable. Silas' distinctive facial scars are not represented by either sculpting or paint operations.

: Also included in this set are Deluxe Class figures of Bumblebee and Starscream, as well as a DVD containing the episodes, "Convoy", "Sick Mind", and "Out of His Head". This Entertainment Pack was also available in Australian markets virtually unchanged, except the DVD was replaced with a booklet including short (and by that, we mean one sentence) bios as well as Tech Specs for most of the characters.
: Part of the eighth wave of TakaraTomy Prime toys, "Silas Breakdown" is a black and gray redeco/retool of AM-12 War Breakdown, and transforms into a massive armored truck. He uses stickers for some of his details.

: As part of the line-wide Arms Micron gimmick, Silas comes with Magi, a robotic praying mantis who transforms into a dual-bladed weapon. Silas has a single C joint bar at the rear of the truck, and is covered with an incredible number of 5mm post-holes to attach Arms Microns to. Magi is also covered in 5mm posts and holes.

: Since he's intended to depict Silas after being merged with Breakdown's severed body, he has been retooled with a few additional details. He has a new, bashed-up head, with his right eye being modified to depict Breakdown's missing optic. His grill has been replaced with a large, vacuum-metallized, spiked bullbar (preventing it from folding inside his chest for robot mode, despite it still being jointed). Finally, an additional sculpted plastic panel depicting Silas' head being surrounded in machinery has been attached to the inside of his chest.

: The original version of this mold was redecoed/retooled into Swerve.
