Aligned novels
Omega Supreme was the legendary Guardian of Crystal City. Having acquired the Code Keys of Power and Justice, Megatron opened the entrance to the Plasma Energy Chamber below the High Council Tower to corrupt the Core of Cybertron with Dark Energon. Teletraan-1 reactivated Omega Supreme to fly the Plasma Energy Chamber to safety. Omega was horrified to be informed by the Communication Grid that the Decepticons held eighty-five percent of the planet; that only three of the High Council lived and all of them were Decepticons; the AllSpark had been ejected from the Well of All Sparks; and Sentinel Prime was dying. He informed Optimus Prime he should have reactivated him sooner, though they had no idea he even existed, and Omega acknowledged it was because of Optimus that the Autobots held out for so long.

Omega tried to fly into space, where Teletraan-1 would give him instructions as to where to hide the Chamber, but Starscream's Seekers attacked. Omega blew up two Seekers before his own nozzles were shot at and he reverted to robot mode and fell back into Iacon. Ironhide was horrified by the Guardian's destruction but fortunately, Omega survived the impact and inspired the Autobots to fight off the Decepticons seeking to gain the Chamber. Omega killed four Dark Energon-infused Decepticons, but Megatron hammered him in the knee causing him to collapse and allowing a swarm of gladiators to crawl on him. Omega fell, crushing the gladiators, but the Dark Energon left their bodies to power Megatron to the point he could turn Omega on his back. He threatened to slice his throat, but he only wanted the Chamber, and tore it out of Omega's body before escaping.

Ratchet repaired Omega Supreme, and he was able to fight when Trypticon emerged in the Mithric Sea when the Autobots left Cybertron on the Ark. He was left with Ultra Magnus and his Wreckers to deal with Shockwave's new regime. Transformers: Exodus

After the evacuation of Cybertron and the fall of Iacon, Ultra Magnus used Omega Supreme as a mobile base of operations when the Wreckers and other pockets of Autobot resistance were forced underground by Shockwave. Omega Supreme joined Ultra Magnus, Springer, Wheeljack, Jetfire, and Rack n' Ruin on their mission to rescue Alpha Trion from Shockwave, shelling Iacon's defenses from afar and distracting Decepticon police forces long enough for the other Autobots to reach Iacon's underground levels.

During the Quintesson invasion of Cybertron, Omega Supreme was one of the first Cybertronians to stand against Tyrannicon's Sharkticon flotilla. Although the Autobot guardian brought his considerable firepower to bear, destroying several Sharkticon ships in the process, he ultimately could not stand against the general himself, who clambered up Omega Supreme and speared him through the head, taking him out of the fight. Transformers: Retribution
Omega Supreme was the guardian of the Omega Gate, which gave access to the Core of Cybertron. Omega lay inactive during the war until Megatron's forces invaded Iacon seeking what they thought was the Omega Key (which would allow access to the Core), forcing Zeta Prime to activate the false Omega Key and awaken the sleeping giant. His mission: Destroy Megatron.

Omega followed the homing signal of the false key and destroyed the fleet of Decepticon ships Megatron was using to search for him. As the Decepticons were securing their wounded, the mighty Autobot attacked, destroying their rescue ship and killing the survivors. At first, the Decepticons seemingly defeated the Guardian of Iacon when they destroyed the supports for a section of bridge Omega was standing upon, but the Autobot returned with a vengeance, using his main gun to disintegrate what remained of the bridge and forcing Megatron's squad to flee to safety.

Omega Supreme attacked Megatron wherever he went, destroying a cargo lift the Decepticon rode, smashing his way through a tunnel and laying landmines upon a bridge that was the only route to safety. Eventually, Omega Supreme tracked the Decepticons to an Autobot anti-aircraft battery on a terrace and attacked with his main gun, heatseeking missiles, Aerialbots and briefly defending himself with an impenetrable energon barrier. However, the Decepticons discerned the pattern of Omega's attacks and breached his armour thanks to the terrace' turrets, forcing him to crash down into a sub-level of Iacon below.

Sure that the Autobot was destroyed and eager to get his hands on the means to open the Omega Gate, Megatron led his squad down, only to find that Omega Supreme had transformed and re-energized himself with energon batteries drawn from underground. Omega Supreme battered the Decepticons with a combination of missiles, laser turrets, his main gun and a powerful arm-mounted tractor beam, until Soundwave deduced that Omega's defensive weakness were his turrets - destroying them forced the Autobot guardian to draw upon the energon batteries to regenerate. Seizing the advantage, the Decepticons infected the batteries with a charge of Dark Energon, corrupting Omega Supreme's systems when he drained the batteries. While Omega dealt with the Dark Energon with a counter-virus, Megatron attacked, severely damaging the Autobot's armour. Down, but not out, Omega Supreme drew energy from Cybertron's core itself and unleashed a withering multitude of missiles upon the Decepticons. However, with his internal shielding exposed, Omega was vulnerable, and eventually the Decepticons brought him down by blasting his exposed chest cavity. Gloating in victory, Megatron blasted Dark Energon into Omega Supreme's chest, and the Autobot, helpless to fight against it, was corrupted. Omega Supreme was taken underground where he was forced to open the Omega Gate, allowing Megatron to corrupt Cybertron's core with Dark Energon.

The rumours of Omega Supreme and Zeta Prime's defeats spread through the Autobot camp, leaving the Autobots direction-less and dispirited. Just when hoped seemed to die for the Autobots, a new hero stepped up to lead them: Optimus Prime, the last of the Primes.

Charged by the High Council with destroying the infection to Cybertron's core, Optimus Prime lead a team consisting of Ironhide and Warpath to the chamber outside the Omega Gate, where Omega Supreme was being imprisoned. There they found the Decepticons torturing the giant Autobot and force-feeding him Dark Energon to prevent him from repairing himself and escaping his bonds. After his captors were destroyed, Ratchet began repairing Omega Supreme's damage and Dark Energon corruption, but the party were set upon by dozens of Decepticon reinforcements. Just as they were attacked by a Decepticon Destroyer, Omega Supreme regained enough functionality to rip the foe to pieces with one hand.

With the present Decepticon threat removed, Omega Supreme opened the Omega Gate to Cybertron's core. However, his systems were not yet fully operational; repairs would have to be completed at Autobot headquarters while Optimus and his team headed down into the depths of Cybertron. Transformers: War for Cybertron (360/PS3/PC)
At the climax of the Great War, Decepticon Leader Megatron defeated and stole the Omega Key from Zeta Prime. Immediately, sirens began ringing, and Omega was awakened, and immediately went for Megatron. Omega Supreme decimated the Decepticon forces in Iacon, much to Megatron's horror and fury. Omega Supreme was left to find the Decepticon leader with Autobots Jetfire and Cliffjumper at his side.

Megatron returned with his team, defeating Jetfire and Cliffjumper, but Omega finally found them, and began to swipe at them through entire walls. Thundercracker observed the titan had somehow grown huger, but Megatron led his hesitant Decepticons onward nonetheless. Omega Supreme fell, and Megatron claimed a decisive victory in the war.
Aside from a more traditional gray, red, and yellow color scheme, Omega Supreme now has a new head and a massive, articulated claw arm, both based on his War for Cybertron design. The visor on his head can be flipped open, and he features a flip-up cannon at the back of his head. Meanwhile, the claw arm features double-jointed claws and can spin freely. He lacks the electronics and removable Headmaster component found on previous versions.

:He splits in half to transform into two vehicles: a train engine and a multi-gunned space battleship. The train features a small articulated "claw" on the roof, a large cannon/construction arm on its caboose, and a Mini-Con-compatible 5mm peg on each rear side. The battleship has a 5mm peg-hole on either front side of the hull, and comes armed with three double-barreled "laser cannon" turrets, as well as a dual spring-loaded missile launcher turret with two missiles. The double-barreled cannon at the back can rotate manually, while the two cannons and launcher at the front are geared to rotate together when a red gear wheel, located on the starboard side of the hull/his left arm, is rotated. There are two more Mini-Con compatible pegs on either side of the bow/right shoulder, and an Energon Chip holder on the forward deck. The train can also transform into a crane, while the battleship can transform into an artillery cannon, with both emplacements featuring flip-out handles for other figures to man. Additionally, both vehicles can also combine to form an extremely long "Cybertronian Armored Supertrain". The ship's tower and the clear-yellow canopy at the rear of the train can open, and are meant to accommodate the now non-existent Headmaster component.

:Omega Supreme can also combine with Platinum Edition Optimus Prime to form what his instructions call "Super Optimus Prime". Prime's drones are color-matched to Omega Supreme, and can attach to four connectors on Omega Supreme's body, while Prime himself is inserted into Omega Supreme's chest cavity to replace his head, although the instructions omit many details on just how to achieve this. Omega Supreme's back can actually open up to accommodate Optimus with his body in truck mode, while Omega Supreme's head is meant to sink into his own neck base panel. The panel itself is then flipped to his right shoulder, forming a shoulder-mounted, non-firing missile battery, and one can rotate Omega Supreme's head to form a sunken cannon turret. This base panel has also been retooled from the original version of the mold, being wider, allowing his head to sink in, and featuring 14 sculpted missiles instead of five. His drone connection points are also compatible with Energon Wing Saber's dis-articulated parts for use as auxiliary weapons.

:His packaging mentions that his right arm has a "lunging grip" and can function as a "working crane", which are gimmick call-outs for the original version of the mold, and are things which the new claw arm can't really do. His bio is also largely ambiguous, but its mention of Omega being a sleeping guardian, coupled with the style of the new head and arm, seem to cast him as an Aligned continuity family version of the character.

: The original version of this mold was redecoed into Energon: The Powerlinx Battles Omega Sentinel.
Vortex
:Vortex is a Decepticon Combaticon from the Fall of Cybertron portion of the Aligned continuity family.

Vortex isn't much of a fighter. Instead, what Autobots fear is being caught in his magnetic grapples. Once they are in his clutches, Vortex will execute a series of terrifying maneuvers that leaves his victims scared oilless, shortly before dropping them to the planet surface, shellshocked, to their deaths. Along with the other Combaticons, he can form Bruticus.

The Combaticons remained behind on Cybertron after the launch of the Ark and the Nemesis. Vortex and his comrades fought against the Wreckers to help Shockwave maintain control of Cybertron. Transformers: The Covenant of Primus
Transformers: The Ultimate Pop-Up Universe
Vortex and the rest of the Combaticons had the ability to merge into the mighty Bruticus! It is not known whether they followed Megatron to Earth in his quest for the Allspark or if they remained behind on Cybertron, as they had yet to have been seen adopting an Earth vehicle mode. Transformers: The Ultimate Pop-Up Universe

When the Autobots came into possession of a large amount of energon, Starscream tasked the Combaticons with diverting the transport by destroying a bridge. Vortex and Blast Off were sent to clear a short cut to allow Brawl to take a drop ship through. Blast Off went through first, drawing out Autobot mines for Vortex to destroy. Once they got through the ruins, the Autobots closed some huge shutters, so Blast Off went ahead, leaving Vortex behind to fight all the Autobots by himself. Vortex eventually reached the bridge and helped out Brawl when it turned out the shielding on the bridge supports was too much for his artillery mode to handle. Vortex flew in and destroyed the autobots guarding bridge to reach the controls, where he manually lowered the defenses of the supports. After the pair took out the side supports, Brawl blasted a hole in the center support so Vortex could head in and destroy it with a detpak. This he did, and barely managed to escape the bridge before it collapsed, forcing the Autobots' transport to use more of its fuel to take flight. Once Swindle took out the anti-aircraft cannons, Vortex and the other Combaticons combined into Bruticus and smashed through the rest of the transports defenses in order to reach the flight deck. There, Bruticus separated back into the individual Combaticons, who rushed the room and quickly dispatched the Autobots inside. On Onslaught's orders, Vortex and Blast Off took the flight controls and attempted to land the craft. Unfortunately the damage they had done resulted in the transport crashing, destroying half of the energon it was carrying. Starscream was not pleased, and ordered them arrested after being scorned about his poor leadership by Onslaught.

Vortex and the other Combaticons were later freed once Megatron was resurrected and retook his leadership, accompanying their leader to the facility in which the Autobots were keeping the remains of Trypticon and combined into Bruticus in order to clear a path for Megatron. They were aboard the newly christened Nemesis as it pursued the Ark and Vortex took part in the assault on the Autobot ship's engines as part of Bruticus. The giant took out many Autobots before he was taken down by the combined efforts of Jazz and the Aerialbots, blasted off the Ark's hull to fall to the dying Cybertron behind them. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
Vortex (FoC) participated in battles against a variety of opponents, both Autobots and Decepticons. Sometimes there were many of him! He was an Epic character who first appeared in the "Bruticus' Chaos" event, and could be recruited by collecting 650 units of Cybermetal, 350 units of Transmetal, 150 exclusive cores, and 50 cores of this character. Transformers: Battle Tactics
**Accessories: 2 swords

: The first version of Vortex released was made available as part of a Hasbro Toy Shop exclusive "Decepticon Bruticus" giftset that contains all five Combaticons in game-accurate colors. Like most Hasbro Toy Shop exclusive toys, it was initially sold at the store's booth at San Diego Comic-Con and made available at the store's website a few days later.

: Vortex's alternate mode is an ocher and red Cybertronian assault helicopter with four rotor blades and a double-barreled gun at the front end of the cockpit. His swords feature sculpted weapon barrels on the underside and can be either held as swords or as rifles with "bayonets" in robot mode, and can also be attached to the skid-like sections on both sides of the cockpit using the 5mm posts that serve as rifle handles.

: In addition to his robot and vehicle modes, Vortex can also combine with his fellow Combaticons into Bruticus and serve as any of the gestalt robot's four limbs, though his official configuration shown in the instructions is the left arm. (The gestalt's hand features a thumb which can fold over to either side of the palm so that it can be used as either the left or right hand. He can also easily be used as either foot, which is shown by his later retool Autobot Whirl, who serves as Ruination's left leg.) His swords can be combined with the other Combaticons' weapons to form Bruticus's Sonic Cannon. Oddly, he is the only Combaticon limb in the set with a black connection port, opposed to the others' light purple.

: A redeco of Vortex in more "flashy" colors was available as an individually-released mass retail toy (see below), whereas a redeco in Generation 2 colors (as the Generation 1 Vortex character) was released as part of a shared Amazon.com/BigBadToyStore exclusive Decepticon Bruticus gift set. The sculpt was also retooled into Autobot Whirl, as mentioned above. It also served as the basis of the non-toy Cloud incarnation of Whirl and the Wings Universe incarnation of Rotorstorm.
These versions of the Combaticons replace the game-accurate, Generation 1-inspired decos with more "flashy" colors apparently homaging the color scheme of Bruticus Maximus. Vortex replaces the ocher and red colors from his gift set release with red and purple, with the swords' blades sporting paint operations in fluorescent yellow.

: The Takara release of this figure features an altered palette: his red and purple paint job is swapped in favor of a game-accurate metallic gold-and-dark red paint scheme. Interestingly enough, the Decepticon sigil on his midsection in robot mode is not a tampograph; it is a sticker.

* Vortex's original design art (right) used the same color scheme as a lower quality scan of his Generation 1 counterpart, and this art was used for some significant promotions and in game (using a different pose). Further modification to his color scheme removed any of the bluish gray from the concept art for the final in game design, possibly because of the game's limit of two colors per character.
* Vortex's body parts are available to Scientist-class characters in Fall of Cybertron multiplayer, identified as Vanguard-type components. Because of his unique vehicle mode, there are no Vanguard-type wings. However, wings from other characters can be used by equipping the desired wings on one chest, then switching over to the Vanguard chest. They are only visible on the tail of the helicopter, however.
* Vortex's alt-mode is unusual in that while in it he is normally configured as a helicopter (fitting the trend of other Vortexes in the multiverse), but converts to a jet-like form when using his ability to boost (this would technically classify him as a gyrodyne). Unfortunately, it appears that the toy is not capable of replicating this "boost mode".
* His toy instructions depict Whirl's head.
* He's afraid of the dark.
