[[Cody Burns|Cody]] finds [[Chase (RB)|Chase]] reading loudly while a [[Maven Danger]] movie blares on [[television|TV]]. As it turns out, [[Blades (RB)|Blades]] has requested the noise to distract him from worrying about the test flight [[Dani Burns|Dani]] is going on, because she's flying another helicopter. Dani's test flight meanwhile runs into trouble, and she's forced to broadcast a distress as the helicopter starts belching smoke. [[Charlie Burns|Chief]] picks up the mayday, and the rescue team is scrambled. As the helicopter is over water, only Heatwave and Blades can reach it, however as they do the copter abruptly nose-dives as the gears jam. Blades recalls a similar thing happening to him, which gives Dani the idea of putting the helicopter into reverse, and she flies it upside down towards [[Griffin Rock]]. Just short of the docks, she cuts the engine to stop the rotors, and [[Boulder]] and Chase catch the errant copter.

Safely back at the [[Griffin Rock Firehouse Headquarters|firehouse]], Blades asks why Dani keeps going on test missions when they seem to be unsafe. Dani announces that tomorrow is her hundredth mission, and she'll be piloting a solar-sail spaceship, ''[[Echinoderm One]]'', in low-Earth orbit. Blades and Cody ask what happens when the ship's behind the planet from the sun, and Dani explains it has an experimental laser on board which will provide thrust by shooting light energy into the sail.

The next day on the mainland, Dani reveals that if she does a good job on this mission, she's going to be eligible to become a full-time pilot. Blades is upset she won't be around as much, but his lament is cut short when Dani's ride turns up. They return to Griffin Rock where Blades starts work on a giant sign Dani will be able to see from space. Heatwave is puzzled by the fact the paint is the same color as the paper he's using. Meanwhile Dani's spaceship launches, rocketing into orbit before discarding its boosters.

[[Frankie Greene|Frankie]] arrives at the firehouse with her telescope, and [[Graham Burns|Graham]] taps into Dani's radio transmissions back to base in time to overhear her deploying the solar sails. As the ship passes into the Earth's shadow, Dani deploys the laser which gives the ship a burst of speed, though as she notes, the ship's going faster than expected. As Heatwave notes that the glow paint Blades used on his sign is showing up perfectly, Dani's ship passes overhead. Unfortunately at that point the ship encounters a storm of debris from an old wrecked satellite that shreds the ship's sails as well as knocking out her maneuvering jets. Ground control reports that she's heading away from Earth, and the rescue team takes that as their cue to get involved. Leaving Graham and Frankie on Earth, the rest of the team blasts off in the ''[[Sigma]]'' having contacted [[Quickshadow]] to organize keeping Ground Control in the dark.

They contact Dani, but she discovers she's unable to turn the laser off manually, and has to pull a power line to stop it. The ''Sigma'' will take some time to catch up, giving Blades time to complain about Dani taking another job, though she doesn't believe she'll be able to become a full-time test pilot after the disaster the current mission has turned into. Graham and Frankie notice Dani's about to leave Earth's shadow, which will boost her speed and though she tries to retract the solar sail, it's jammed. She's forced to go for a brief space walk and manually detach the sail, however a new problem becomes apparent — the ship is heading directly towards the [[Moon (moon)|Moon]].

On Frankie's direction, he fires off a burst on his left thruster, sending the ship into a slingshot trajectory. The pair pass behind the Moon and while they're in radio silence, Blades says he's OK with her taking the test pilot job. They eventually pass back into the sunlight, and Heatwave and Chase use grappling hooks to secure the ship to the ''Sigma''. Back on the ground, Dani contacts Ground Control and lets them know everything is fine.

Sometime later, Dani reveals she's not taking the full-time job, as she realized she prefers being part of the rescue team, and sits down to watch ''[[Cupcake Hoarders]]'' with Blades and Cody.

The stealth team drives along a highway towards one of [[Windblade (RID)|Windblade]]'s supply caches, which she's detected has been interfered with. They arrive at a disused naval yard, and as they head in, [[Drift (RID)|Drift]] deploys [[Slipstream (RID)|Slipstream]] and [[Jetstorm (RID)|Jetstorm]]. Though not much appears to be damaged, they move further in, and Drift's Mini-Cons ask their master if they've studied enough to be able to work by themselves. As the Autobots enter a building, they're unaware that they're being watched from afar by the [[Decepticon]] [[Stockade (RID)|Stockade]] who is hoping to gain access to the cache.

As they reach the door to the cache, [[Sideswipe (RID)|Sideswipe]] thinks the security is down and tries to take point, only to be knocked on his tailpipe by the still-active [[force field]]. Windblade points out that the force field is invisible thanks to lightbenders, and observes that the force field has taken some damage though it hasn't been breached. After opening the cache to make sure everything's in place, they're preparing to close it all up again when a small army of Mini-Cons crashes their party. Though individually the Mini-Cons aren't much, they have the strength of numbers. Optimus orders Drift to try and seal the cache, but the master's students disregard his order to return to him, and when he spots the Mini-Cons setting up a large weapon, he throws the pair out of the way, taking a hit to the leg. Stockade orders his troops to press the advantage, but with some help from Windblade's fans, Drift succeeds in locking himself in the cache. The others attempt to retreat, and after being hit with grenades, Optimus and Windblade are unable to escape the building. Sideswipe, Slipstream and Jetstorm get out, but pursued by Mini-Cons, are forced to take shelter in an empty armory. Optimus and Windblade likewise seal themselves in a bunker.

Stockade makes a public address, demanding the Autobots give him access to the cache in return for their lives. Optimus contacts the others for a situation report. With Drift injured and everyone effectively trapped, Optimus contacts the scrapyard, however Fixit is unable to contact Bumblebee's team. He's able to fill them in on Stockade, however. Optimus has Drift make his own public address, informing Stockade that he has a doomsday device that will destroy [[Earth]] unless Stockade leaves. Stockade doesn't buy it and orders his troops to scan the cache, just in case.

Drift's Mini-Cons reveal to Sideswipe that they ignored their master's order to undeploy, and they blame themselves for Drift's injured state. After Sideswipe points out they technically don't have to stay with Drift, the two Mini-Cons have an idea. Sideswipe's soon surrendering, however this is just a bluff — he, Jetstorm, and Slipstream swiftly take out the team tasked with capturing him. Stockade is still trying to contact the team when his troops report the results of the scan. With Drift's bluff exposed, Stockade and his Mini-Cons open fire on the cache entrance. Meanwhile Sideswipe reaches the bunker and starts helping get Optimus and Windblade out.

Stockade's forces manage to breach the cache, and though Jetstorm and Slipstream attempt to hold them off, several get through. Fortunately Drift has the cache's weaponry at his disposal and joins in the fighting, even in his injured state. Optimus and Windblade are finally free of the bunker, and with Sideswipe, they reinforce Drift and his Mini-Cons. Optimus and Stockade face off while the others deal with the Mini-Con army, and soon the Decepticons lie in disarray. Sideswipe manages to take out Stockade by firing Drift's Mini-Cons at him. Drift admits that his Mini-Cons performed admirably and their education is complete, however the pair insist on remaining as Drift's students. [[Grimlock (RID 2015)|Grimlock]] arrives through the [[GroundBridge]] in time to carry Drift back for repairs, and Optimus announces it's time they all returned the scrapyard.

Stranded on [[Earth]] after the crash of the ''[[Alchemor]]'', the cunning and ruthless [[Steeljaw (RID)|Steeljaw]] assembled '''Steeljaw's Pack'''. With the [[Decepticon]] movement in shambles following the restoration of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] and the surrender of [[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]], Steeljaw sees the gang as the first step towards assembling a new army: one that will turn Earth into a Decepticon utopia under ''his'' benevolent leadership. Hand-picked from the prisoner manifest of the wrecked ship, gang members tend to be tough, nasty and violent - a dark mirror of [[Bumblebee (WFC)|Bumblebee]]'s own [[Bee Team (RID)|Bee Team]]. Members can be easily identified by their trademark slashed-out Decepticon insignia, disabling the tracking devices that would otherwise allow the [[Autobot]]s to find them.

Steeljaw had Minitron hijack the Dinobot [[Grimlock (RID 2015)|Grimlock]] in an attempt to increase their ranks by stealing stasis pods containing Decepticons captured by [[Bee Team (RID)|Bumblebee's team]] and releasing them. Steeljaw relocated to a new base: an abandoned steel mill. They were joined by [[Fracture (RID)|Fracture]], stranded on Earth after trying to seize the bounty on Bumblebee's head. Later still, Steeljaw discovered [[Clampdown (RID)|Clampdown,]] a former snitch who was trying to keep a low profile on Earth. Both of them joined the gang... although not without some reservations on Thunderhoof's part, since Clampdown's antics had landed the former crime boss in jail. While Thunderhoof tried to take out Clampdown, the team wound up tangling with Bumblebee's Autobots. They were momentarily captured, but Steeljaw managed to cause a distraction. While the Autobots went to investigate the tied-up Decepticon, Steeljaw broke in and took over the Autobot's scrapyard base, intending to deactivate the [[stasis pod]]s that held the recaptured ''Alchemor'' prisoners. Ultimately, the pack was defeated. Humiliated and furious, Steeljaw ordered his team to leave him alone. Soon, he was contacted by [[The Fallen|Megatronus]], who requested his help in escaping from another dimension. Steeljaw reluctantly agreed to serve this mysterious being. {{storylink|Lockout}} The pack set about constructing a gate for their new employer, but soon ran afoul of the Autobots.
