[[Fixit (RID)|Fixit]] searches for anyone who wants to help him sort [[capacitor sprocket]]s and finds [[Strongarm (RID)|Strongarm]] weightlifting forklifts. When she mentions she misses the Academy, and that it's the time of year when cadets choose their specialty to focus their studies, Fixit helps her by bringing up a list of specialties so she can select one, though she can't decide which she should choose. The Decepticon alarm sounds and Fixit pinpoints the signal to a construction site.

The Autobots arrive at the site just after the 'Con has moved in. [[Bumblebee (WFC)|Bumblebee]] sends Strongarm and [[Drift (RID)|Drift]] to cover the gate while he takes the others to search inside. [[Grimlock (RID 2015)|Grimlock]] finds a busted locker, shortly before he's attacked from behind. Bumblebee and [[Sideswipe (RID)|Sideswipe]] find him moments later, but the Con is already gone and, though Fixit widens his scan, he is unable to locate the Decepticon. Strongarm recalls the teachings of her old instructor [[Dropforge]], which inspires her to ask Bumblebee if she can try out her detective skills. She starts taking pictures of the crime scene, and finds some auto paint on a nearby tree.

The Autobots return to the scrapyard, where Fixit wires Grimlock and Drift up for a [[combiner]]-related experiment. The pair end up magnetically fused together temporarily, and Strongarm summons them to the "war room". This turns out to be so Strongarm can fill them in on what she's worked out — they quickly locate a car that matches the paint they found, so Strongarm is dispatched with [[Denny Clay|Denny]] and [[Russell Clay|Russell]] to interview the potential witness. The witness turns out to have not seen the perp, but overheard him talking about "shinies" and "step one". As the trio start heading back, Fixit contacts them to let them know there's a Decepticon signal at a fireworks factory. Strongarm, increasingly using crime-noir type language, drops off the two [[human]]s and heads off.

She arrives at the factory around the same time as the rest of [[Bee Team (RID)|Bee Team]], but before she can fill them in on what she's found, the team comes under attack from fireworks. After Grimlock is knocked down, she manages to shoot another firework headed towards him and the team take cover. The 'Con emerges, wreathed in smoke, and manages to speed past them before they can fire, leaving Strongarm to accidentally try and arrest Bumblebee in the confusion. Fixit attempts to get a lock on the Decepticon's signal, but it repeatedly appears and disappears at different places, leaving the Autobots bewildered.

Back at base, Strongarm puzzles over the evidence and why she can't work out the case. Bumblebee gives her some encouragement and she suggests the next target may be the [[Crown City Armory]], though she immediately casts doubt on the idea as potentially being too simple. With Strongarm unable to work out the Con's nature, the team heads to stake out the armory. As the stakeout drags on, Strongarm wonders if she was wrong after all, but her doubt is cut short by an explosion in the armory. They move in to find the 'Con is a [[Corvicon|Crow Decepticon]]. Strongarm gives chase, using an unfinished overpass to give her the height to take down the flying Decepticon. Grimlock uses his traditional finishing move to make sure the Decepticon stays down.

Fixit explains the 'Con is [[Boostwing]], a more intelligent Crow Decepticon than average, but Strongarm and Russell aren't satisfied with the resolution. Strongarm volunteers to go out on patrol, and Russell accompanies her. She's realized that Boostwing may have a partner, explaining how he could be in many places at once and where the stolen fireworks may be. On Russell's hunch, they head to the [[Crown City Gold Depository]], and arrive to find it under attack. After calling for backup, Strongarm heads inside and finds another Crow Decepticon, Boostwing's brother [[Jacknab]]. During the resulting fight, Jacknab kicks her into a pile of gold bars, but she overloads her blaster, knocking him down. She's surprised when a ''third'' Crow Decepticon brother arrives, [[Pilfer]], and the pair of 'Cons quickly outmatch her, threatening to steal her [[optics]] for Boostwing. The rest of the Autobots arrive to lend a hand, keeping the brothers busy, and giving Strongarm time to use a net filled with gold bars to bring the two 'Cons down, the pair being dutifully arrested.

Strongarm later explains her reasoning to the other Autobots and they compliment her on her work. Sideswipe makes a mumbled noise which to his surprise, she's able to correctly deduce was an apology for doubting her judgment earlier.

As [[Huxley Prescott]] reports on the start of [[H.B. Luskey|Mayor Luskey]]'s re-election campaign, the rescue team muses on how no one ever runs against him, and how the townsfolk have short memories and forget his various mishaps. For his latest stunt, Luskey has a pair of parachutists drop in to deliver pizza, however a sudden gust of wind hits one of the parachutes and soon it's raining pizza. The Rescue Bots jump into action and save a plummeting parachutist, as well as protect the crowd from falling pizza, but the unhappy townsfolk call for a town meeting, ''without'' the mayor.

The meeting convenes, and it's mostly a chance for everyone to offload their grievances regarding the mayor, though [[Alper|Mr Alper]] attempts vainly to defend his superior. Prescott helpfully supplies a blooper reel of some of Luskey's mishaps, and puts out a call over the air for someone to run in competition. At the fire house, [[Cody Burns|Cody]] suggests [[Chase (RB)|Chase]] run, and though some members of the team find this humorous, [[Heatwave (RB)|Heatwave]] thinks it's a reasonable idea. Chase is hesitant until [[Charlie Burns|Chief]] gives his approval.

The team is soon out campaigning. Luskey is derisive of the whole business, but agrees to taking part in a debate. Chase is tongue-tied in front of an audience until Cody prompts him to speak from his [[spark]], and he reels out a series of facts about the town. Chase also proves superior at answering questions from the audience about upcoming ballots, and the debate only gets worse for Luskey as he explodes with rage and Chase handles his bluster calmly. [[Ezra Greene|Doc Greene]] watches from the laboratory as he works on a [[minimolecular collider]].

The polls come in and show Chase has a favorable lead. Cody and [[Frankie Greene|Frankie]] tell him it's time to step up his campaigning. Luskey also ramps up his campaigning — by riding a mechanical bull through town. Unfortunately as soon as it spies something red, the bull takes off with Luskey still aboard, and manages to make several holes in the town bank before it's rampage is halted by Chase.

The election finally comes, and Prescott announces the preliminary results: Chase has won! Chase announces that in preparation he has studied Earth's politicians. Heatwave doesn't think Chase should actually take office, but Chase is determined, and Mr Alper is soon swearing him in. With Chase now mayor, Alper supplies him with the historical town budgets, only to find that Chase has decided that City Hall's lights will be kept off to save power. After going through a bunch of other money saving plans he's come up with, Chase also points out a zoning issue with the laboratory.

The next morning, Chief gets a call from Chase asking him to start enforcing some of the more obscure laws which have mostly remained on the books due to oversight. Chief tries unsuccessfully to object. Afterwards Alper reports that Doc Greene is picking up the lab permit from the [[Hall of Inspiration]], but Chase insists on sealing off the laboratory in the meantime. Thus when Doc arrives back at the lab, the door closes in his face.

Prescott stages an interview with Chase, who takes the opportunity to announce that all streets will henceforth be one way and there'll be a 10 mile an hour speed limit. Predictably this and Chase's other changes cause chaos on the roads, and Prescott reports on how annoyed the townsfolk are. The rescue team is called out to a toppling billboard, however the chaos delays them and they only just get there in time to prevent anyone getting hurt. As they drive back past City Hall, Chase pulls them all over for speeding. After he's written them tickets, Doc Greene roars up with the news that he's unable to get into the lab to switch off his collider, and if it overloads it'll be a disaster. Chase reluctantly agrees to shut down the security system, however it turns out that the key is missing and he can't.

While Cody and Frankie track down Luskey to get a key, the rest of the team head to the lab but are unable to breach the door. Fortunately the kids are able to talk Luskey into riding to the rescue on the mechanical bull, now fitted with blue sunglasses to prevent road rage. The lab is opened and Doc Greene is able to shut down the collider.

Chase officially steps down as mayor, to cheers from the crowd, and announces that as runner up, Luskey is Mayor once again. Naturally Mayor Luskey celebrates with fireworks which quickly go out of control and the panicked crowd scatters.
