Trent was in the same classroom when [[Sam Witwicky (Movie)|Sam Witwicky]] <s>peddled</s> presented [[Archibald Witwicky|his grandfather]]'s possessions. During the course of the presentation, Trent flicked a rubber band at Sam, to the amusement of the other students in his social clique.

Later, Trent was at the lake, hanging out with his undoubtedly popular buddies when Sam came along with his [[Bumblebee (Movie)|not so spankin' new car]] and [[Miles Lancaster|weird, tree-climbing friend]]. When questioned, Sam said that they were there to climb a nearby tree. Trent remembered that Sam tried out for the football team the last year and failed. Sam countered, saying that he was "researching" for a book he was writing. "What's it about? Sucking at sports?" "No, it's about the link between brain damage and football." Needless to say, Trent was about to cave in Sam's face until Mikaela cooled him off.
