Some time after the defeat of the [[Functionist Council]], [[Prowl (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Prowl]] arrives on "Functionist Cybertron" to survey the situation. His visit is to be a short one; the planet is largely to be left to its own devices while the universe's native Cybertronian population begins their new lives on [[Earth]] following the apocalyptic attack of [[Unicron/Generation 1|Unicron]], but the billion new [[spark]]s that have ignited from [[Moonbase One|Luna 1]]'s [[hot spot]] must be dealt with, and most importantly, with the [[Knights of Cybertron]] having been proven not to exist, [[Megatron (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Megatron]] must stand trial once again, this time with the [[Galactic Council]] presiding. [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus]] objects, but Megatron himself agrees. Prowl also announces his intention to remove the ''[[Lost Light]]''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s [[quantum generator]]s and use them to double Functionist Cybertron's [[energon]] reserves, for use in bringing the sparks to term; again, Rodimus initially refuses, before finally giving in, on the condition that Prowl allows him and the crew to to take one final "victory lap" trip aboard the ship before it is decommissioned.

The crew are granted one day for their trip, and it passes without incident. [[Rewind (G1)|Rewind]] makes a complete recording of every corridor and room on the ship for posterity; in the process, he and [[Chromedome (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Chromedome]] come upon [[Rung (G1)|Rung]]'s old quarters, but tragically, they and the rest of the crew have already lost all their memories of the terminally-forgettable psychiatrist. The pair rejoin the rest of the crew on the bridge as the ''Lost Light'' turns to head back to Functionist Cybertron, and conversation turns to the inevitability to endings, and how to make the most of them; Rodimus remarks that he would ''rather'' see the ''Lost Light'' decommissioned than allowed to become a monument or "just another spaceship," so that its meaning can never be diminished. [[Swerve (G1)|Swerve]] announces one last party in [[Swerve's|his bar]], but just before everyone heads off, [[Nautica (G1)|Nautica]], [[Brainstorm (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Brainstorm]], and [[Perceptor (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Perceptor]] take Rodimus aside to propose one final, risky, complicated, ludicrous stunt for the ''Lost Light'' to pull: when they quantum jump back to Functionist Cybertron, there is the infinitesimally slim chance they can intentionally recreate the accident from the ship's original launch that caused the creation of a quantum duplicate of it and the crew, ''and'' shunt the duplicate into a parallel universe so that there will be no risk of its existence being cancelled out like the last one, thereby allowing the crew to continue adventuring on their own terms in a new world. Rodimus puts the idea to a vote, and the crew agrees.

Of course, there's no way for the crew to know if they idea succeeds, since from their point of view, all that happens is that they successfully quantum jump back to Cybertron, and settle in for one last night of drinks, singing, and stories at Swerve's. [[Anode]] and [[Lug (IDW)|Lug]] decide to give up adventuring and settle down on Luna 1; [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]] makes peace with the [[Scavenger (group)|Scavengers]]; and [[Drift (G1)|Drift]] and [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]]—now finally romantically involved—explain to the crew their theory that the "visions" that have been guiding Drift since the start of their quest were actually messages sent back through time via the [[Warren]] by the telepaths from [[Mederi]]. [[Thunder Clash|Thunderclash]] hauls Rodimus's desk into the bar, and everyone pores over the map etched into its surface, reminiscing about the places they have been and the things they have seen and done on their quest. Inspired by the revelation that Megatron pseudonymously wrote his favorite poem, [[Ultra Magnus (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Ultra Magnus]] delivers a toast to the ship and its crew, and to the unexpected joy that he found when the crew turned from colleagues into true friends. Swerve tries to declare a lock-in, but, to punctuate the finality of the moment, construction cranes abruptly begin tearing into the ship as it sits on the spaceport runway, beginning its disassembly.

Thus does the parting of the ways begin. [[Grimlock (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Grimlock]] and the Scavengers head back to [[Troja Major]], where [[Crankcase (G1)|Crankcase]]—having taken [[Cyclonus (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Cyclonus]]'s advice on love—plans to reunite with [[CONS4EVA]]. Chromedome and Rewind head off on a trip to [[Milnex]]; Nautica and [[Velocity (G1)|Velocity]] are taken to visit Earth by [[Chromia (G1)|Chromia]]; Cyclonus places a tender kiss on Rodimus's cheek to thank him for everything. Prowl takes Megatron into custody, and Magnus goes with them, leaving Rodimus alone. After a moment, he hollers "[['Til all are one|Till All Are One]]" after Magnus, but his words go unheard.

Some time later, Megatron's trial is held. Magnus acts for his defense; Rodimus testifies and lies on the stand, claiming that ''Megatron'' was the one who was able to open the final [[Matrix of Leadership]] when he could not. While a jury is deliberating over "execution" or "infinite imprisonment," Rodimus visits Megatron in his cell for one last conversation, during which Megatron reveals that he still has the [[Rodimus Star]] Rodimus gave him, having held onto it for nearly a millennia, through all his centuries in the [[Functionist Universe]]. Presently, Megatron and Magnus are called in for sentencing; Megatron bids Rodimus farewell, and Magnus tells Megatron that he will take his advice and destroy the [[Magnus Armor]], living the rest of his life as his own 'bot.

Years pass.

Life goes on.

Many of the crew settle on Functionist Cybertron. Swerve successfully turns his bar into a franchise, but it eventually fails and he has to close all but one location. Nautica writes a memoir of the crew's quest. Rewind becomes obsessed with learning everything there is to know about the history of the Functionist Universe, but winds up overloading and corrupting his brain, contracting the neuro-degenerative disease [[Delta's Malady]]; he becomes trapped in data stick form when he forgets how to transform, but continues to live and love with Chromedome. Brainstorm injures himself in a lab accident, requiring him to use his [[time case|infamous briefcase]] as a mobile life support system. Magnus no more, Minimus Ambus helps with the resettlement of all the new "[[Lunarian]]" 'bots born from the sparks from Luna-1, totally unaware that they all resemble Rung. Bereft of direction, [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]] returns to his old troublemaking ways, and soon finds himself in and out of prison. Still eager for adventure, Rodimus signs onto the crew of Thunderclash's new ship, the ''[[Exitus]]''. And Ratchet and Drift become [[Conjunx Endura]]... until the day that Ratchet's advanced age finally catches up to him, and it is discovered that he is going to die of "age-related burnout."

Ratchet's peaceful passing brings the crew of the ''Lost Light'' together again for his funeral in [[Rivets Field]]; Drift arranges for Whirl to be granted day release from prison to attend. Cyclonus and [[Tailgate (G1)|Tailgate]] have been off-planet for an extended period of time and have been out of touch with their old friends, so after the ceremony, Swerve, [[First Aid (G1)|First Aid]], and Brainstorm bring them up to speed on what has been happening with everyone. Dismayed to discover what has become of Whirl, Cyclonus and Tailgate invite him to come and live with them when he is next released, and he happily accepts. Whirl is so moved by their act of compassion that he begins to find worth in himself again, and turns down a gift from Drift—Ratchet's hands, to replace his own, lost so long ago—on the basis that he is not broken and does not need to be fixed.

Rodimus arrives late, after the ceremony has already concluded, and places Megatron's Rodimus Star—entrusted to him when the ex-Decepticon was taken away to his unrevealed fate—among the other offerings by Ratchet's grave. Drift can tell that the haggard Rodimus has been drinking, and expresses concern for him, knowing that life as part of Thunderclash's crew can't possibly compare to the way things used to be. One by the one, the mourners take their leave, until only Drift and Rodimus are left, whereupon Drift raises the subject they swore they'd never speak of: does Rodimus think the attempt to recreate the accident worked? Rodimus doesn't believe they will ever know one way or the other... and he tells himself that that is good, because that way, they can always pretend it did. The pair promise to keep in touch, and Rodimus departs.

''Many years earlier, the ''Lost Light'' quantum jumps back to Functionist Cybertron... but instead, the ship and crew find themselves in uncharted space, further than they have ever traveled before, with no idea of where they are. Realizing that they have succeeded in blasting themselves into another universe, the crew celebrate, with Perceptor crediting their accomplishment to knowledge gained from Brainstorm's earlier time travel experiments. Brainstorm is thrilled to finally have Perceptor's recognition, and Perceptor admits that the pair are "simpatico" after all. With co-captains Rodimus and Megatron at the helm, the ''Lost Light'' sets course for adventure in a new universe.''

*The concept of "age-related burnout"—the Transformer equivalent of dying of natural causes—is a very new concept for both the Cybertronian race, and Transformers stories in general, with essentially all past media having presented the [[spark]] as immortal. The idea was introduced back in [[Remain in Light 1 of 5: The Fecund Moon|''More than Meets the Eye'' #17]], in which Ratchet himself observed the first case had only been reported recently.
*Though deliberately and intentionally released first, this issue is the chronologically-final installment in the [[IDW Generation 1 continuity]], taking place in its entirety after the final issues of the [[Transformers: Unicron|''Unicron'' mini-series]] and ''Optimus Prime'' (thereby "spoiling" that Prowl, [[Windblade (G1)|Windblade]], and the planet Earth survived the apocalyptic events of that story, but if that last one surprises you, we don't know what to tell you). ==Synopsis==
On the blasted ground outside the [[Censere|Necrobot]]'s fortress, the [[Autobot]]s tear into the [[Decepticon Justice Division]] and their allies with fire and fervor. As [[Swerve (G1)|Swerve]] and [[Rewind (G1)|Rewind]] man laser turrets built into the shoulders of [[Ultra Magnus (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Ultra Magnus]]'s new "Maximus Ambus" armor, Rewind tries to tell Magnus of the recent discovery he made about [[Dominus Ambus|his brother]], but the battle has all of Magnus's attention. [[Cyclonus (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Cyclonus]] swoops in low to bear down on [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]], but the [[Decepticon]] sadist punches him into the ground. [[Chromedome (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Chromedome]] blasts Overlord in the face to draw his attention away, and the grinning monster proceeds to describe in grisly detail how he dismembered the original Rewind before Chromedome blew up the cell containing them both. Chromedome screams a scream of passion and rage, and hurls a punch at Overlord... a punch of such freakish strength that it lifts Overlord off the ground and sends him flying backward! As [[Nickel]] proceeds to shoot Chromedome in the arm with [[Vos (DJD)|Vos]]'s rifle mode, [[Deathsaurus (Victory)|Deathsaurus]] observes that the Autobots are fighting with unprecedented strength. [[Tarn (DJD)|Tarn]] assures him it is merely a last-gasp effort, and is more interested in the absence of Megatron, but Deathsaurus is certain that something has happened to the Autobots to give them this boost...

''Minutes earlier, as the Autobots engage in their group hug inside the fortress, an off-hand remark by [[Ratchet (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Ratchet]] about the tightness of [[Tailgate (G1)|Tailgate]]'s super-strength hug causes [[Velocity (G1)|Velocity]] to have a brainwave. Reasoning that Tailgate's recent [[spark]] spasm released an energy wave that transformed him and, temporarily, those Transformers nearest to him, into super-strong [[Outlier]]s, it should theoretically be possible to induce such a spasm in someone ''else'', thereby duplicating the effect on those assembled. The prospect of deliberately causing someone to have a nervous breakdown seems untenable, but [[Skids (G1)|Skids]] volunteers for the job and asks Chromedome to finally unlock his forgotten traumatic memories in order to accomplish it. Chromedome is unwilling to use his [[mnemosurgery]] needles, but as Tarn begins blaring "[[The Empyrean Suite]]" in advance of the DJD's attack, and the memories associated with the music begin to tickle the back of Skids's consciousness, Chromedome agrees to take another tactic: nothing more than a few awful, well-chosen words. Every memory from his time in [[Grindcore (prison)|Grindcore]] including the horrific, smelting death of [[Quark]] comes rushing back to Skids, and his spark erupts with light.''

Powered up into Outliers by Skids's sacrifice, the Autobots tear their way through their enemies, with Rodimus even pulling off his old "Flame Out" maneuver to incinerate a dogpile of Decepticons. Unfortunately, no sooner has he sizzled their circuits that he collapses to his knees, suddenly weakened, as the power-up begins to wear off!

Inside the fortress, Ratchet tends to Skids, who has been so badly traumatized by the experience that his spark has shrunk away to almost nothing. Ratchet attempts to stabilize him so that he can join the fight and leave the job of tending Skids to [[Megatron (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Megatron]], but the ex-Decepticon is having some health problems of his own, suffering from cramps caused by [[Fool's Energon]]. Ratchet insinuates that they are actually the product of fear and anxiety, but Megatron refutes the allegation, and explains to the medic that he is refusing to fight not because he fears the DJD, but because he fears what he himself will become if he straps a weapon to his arm once more. As far as Megatron is concerned, if he allows himself to commit violence again, he will be unable to stop himself from committing more and more, endlessly. This forces Ratchet into a confession: Fool's Energon is a placebo. It has never sapped Megatron's strength; Megatron only ''believed'' that it did, and every time he fought someone since he began taking it, he was—however subconsciously—acting with self-imposed restraint. Just then, Megatron looks at the monitor displaying the fight outside, and sees [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]] being torn in half by Tarn. Ratchet is distracted when Skids wakes up and falls off the med-slab, desperate to find [[Brainstorm (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Brainstorm]] and tell him what became of Quark, and when the medic looks up again, Megatron is gone...

[[Image:Megatron's Return.jpg|left|thumb|Such heroic nonsense.]]Outside, the upgrade process has well and truly worn off, as Brainstorm find when his fist crumples against [[Lugnut (TF 2010)|Lugnut]]'s armor. He turns to the Necrobot's holographic statue of Skids to offer his thanks for the temporary advantage, only to find that the statue has been switched off... because Skids's body now lies lifeless on the floor of the fortress med-bay, his spark extinguished. The weakened Autobots seem certain to join him in death, surrounding by the enemy on all sides—until salvation is heralded by the thunderous retort of a [[fusion cannon]]. With his newly-built weapon now attached, Megatron strides onto the battlefield, silently obliterating all opposition until he has reached his comrades. Gathering up the two pieces of the still-living Ravage, Megatron orders them back to the fortress to get his feline friend help, while he stands against the Decepticon horde. Deathsaurus is reluctant to follow Tarn's orders to send all their troops in, fearing for the lives of his men, but a well-placed shot from Nickel and Vos soon disables Megatron's cannon and leaves him open to attack. As the other Autobots watch through the monitor inside the fortress, Tarn and Overlord stand over the unarmed Megatron, and level their weapons. Tarn asks Megatron if it was worth it; the once and former Decepticon leader remains silent as he looks up at his would-be executioners, but shock crosses his features... just as three shots ring out...

==Synopsis==
On the colony world of [[Eukaris]], [[Tigatron]] and [[Airazor (BW)|Airazor]] visit the prophet [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] to bring her news of the battle between [[Optimus Maximus (G1)|Optimus Maximus]] and [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]] that they have witnessed. Intrigued, Blackarachnia uses her powers to consult the "Web of Time", and foresees the coming of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] to Eukaris. In response to her prophecy, the leaders of the planet's four tribes—[[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]] of the [[Scale Walkers]], [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] of the [[Fur Walkers]], [[Manta Ray (BW)|Manta Ray]] of the [[Wave Walkers]], and [[Sonar (BW)|Sonar]] of the [[Cloud Walkers]]—gather before Eukaris's [[space bridge]] to discuss the matter. Manta Ray and Sonar are uninterested and willing to leave the matter up to the land-dwellers, and soon enough, everyone is arguing amongst themselves... only for their hostilities to be redirected when the space bridge activates, and [[Rattrap (BW)|Rattrap]] hops out! Having snuck off to Eukaris without [[Starscream (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Starscream]] or [[Windblade (G1)|Windblade]]'s knowledge, Rattrap is a little taken aback when Airazor and Blackarachnia step in to prevent Dinobot from attacking him, but is grateful for the chance to speak...

A week later, on Cybertron, Starscream and Windblade oversee the induction of the newest members of the [[Council of Worlds]]: first [[Knock Out (G1)|Knock Out]], then [[Vanquish (G1)|Vanquish]] and [[Fireshot (G1)|Fireshot]] of [[Devisiun]], a colony world of tiny combining Transformers all born in pairs which Starscream visited while Windblade was on [[Velocitron]]. Weary of the back-and-forth struggle for dominance in the council, Windblade takes Starscream aside and insists they will visit the next colony world together, hoping for a level playing field. The odds are then unexpectedly tipped in her favour when she is approached by Rattrap, who shares the knowledge he has picked up from his secret advance trip to Eukaris and tells her to focus her efforts on Blackarachnia and Cheetor.

The next day, Windblade and Starscream depart for Eukaris and are met by Blackarachnia, Tigatron, Airazor, and the four tribe leaders. Having heard old tales of Cybertron, the four leaders are immediately suspicious, but Manta Ray affords Windblade the opportunity to speak, as she is not a Cybertronian. Following Rattrap's advice, she concentrates on winning over Blackarachnia and Cheetor, and her words are just beginning to succeed when the ground beneath everyone's feet suddenly trembles violently. Blackarachnia recognizes this as part of her prophecy: [[Chela]], the colossal phoenix-like [[Metrotitan (body-type)|Titan]] of Eukaris, has been reactivated by the arrival of "standard-formers", and erupts from the ground ready to carry out [[Onyx Prime (G1)|Onyx Prime]]'s final command and destroy all non-beasts. Evading Chela's massive talons, Windblade flies inside the giant and makes her way to his brain chamber, hoping to use her [[Cityspeaker]] abilities to reason with him. Chela, however, has no time for reason, and pins Windblade with pieces of his internal structure. Starscream comes swooping in and opens fire on Chela's brain, destroying it and slaying the Titan. A tearful Windblade apologizes to the Eukarians, but Blackarachnia reassures her that Chela's death was ''also'' part of her prophecy, a necessary step on the path to changing their planet. As any tribe will gain an advantage over the other if a member is placed on the Council of Worlds, the spider chooses Tigatron and Airazor—who abandoned their tribes long ago in order to be with one another—to serve as Eukaris's delegates.

With only inches to spare, [[Tyrest (G1)|Tyrest]] is stopped by from passing through his portal by [[Tailgate (G1)|Tailgate]] leaping onto his back, immune to Tyrest's paralytic thought weapon thanks to [[cybercrosis]]-induced loss of hearing on the signal's frequency. Tailgate hits the switch on Tyrest's staff that deactivates the signal, freeing the other Autobots from its effects, but is then seized by the deranged Chief Justice, who threatens his life if [[Hot Rod (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Rodimus]] does not let him enter the portal. Tailgate urges Rodimus to open fire since he is soon to die anyway, but the quandry is soon removed from Rodimus's hands: Tyrest is shot in the back by [[Ultra Magnus (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Minimus Ambus]]!

Outside, [[Cyclonus (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Cyclonus]] responds to [[Star Saber (Victory)|Star Saber]]'s call for challengers, but the resultant duel goes poorly for him. When Star Saber asks him what he fights for, however, Cyclonus replies that it's personal, and drives his single horn into Star Saber's eye. The blinded Saber drops Cyclonus, but manages to teleport away before a killing blow can be struck.

With Tyrest dispatched, Ambus—now in a truly diminutive state, not even as tall as Rodimus's waist—explains that the form they have seen him in up until now was another suit of armor, and that he was knocked unconscious when its head was crushed. As everyone tries to deal with the [[universal killswitch|killswitch]] and its victims, [[Pharma]] tries to make a run for the portal, only to discover than he cannot pass through it. [[Rung]] concludes it operates on [[Aequitas]] technology, barring entry to those who carry some form of guilt, but [[Skids (G1)|Skids]], at peace with himself for the first time after the mystery of his missing memories has been solved, finds he can step through. Pharma is unfazed by the whole affair, and his incessant smugness is the final straw for [[First Aid (G1)|First Aid]], who blows his head off in a moment of unchecked anger.

Across the room, [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] wires Rodimus into the killswitch, intending to use the [[Matrix of Leadership|Matrix]]-half within him to reinstate the "sparkcode" common to all constructed-cold Transformers that the killswitch is scrambling, thereby undoing its effects... but in the process destroying the Matrix map, and potentially Rodimus himself as well. With this hanging over them, Ambus confesses that he did indeed lure the ''Lost Light'' to Luna 1, having opted to let his Magnus Armor manually return to Tyrest rather than teleport away, thereby allowing them to follow it. Unaware of the Chief Justice's insanity, he assumed Tyrest would discipline Rodimus for the reckless leadership that Ambus had been unable to deal with. Rodimus, however, admits to being responsible for much worse than poor leadership: he had actually conspired with [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]] and the others to bring [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]] on board the vessel, goaded into doing so when Prowl accused him of being afraid. Rodimus vows not to die in an act of self-sacrifice, so that he can make recompense for his misdeeds. The switch is then thrown, the Matrix shatters... and those affected begin to recover!

Outside, the [[Legislator]]s abruptly cease their battle with the Circle of Light, detecting the activation of a new imperative: the crippled Tyrest has managed to activate Part 1, Section 1 of the [[Tyrest Accord]], recalling the robots to defend his broken form. Unaware of this, [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]] begins celebrations, congratulating Cyclonus and asking if their deal to let bygones be bygones still stands. Cyclonus grimly agrees... though not before a brief, silent fantasy of pushing Whirl into the [[smelting pool]] below.

On the other side of the portal, a confusing sight greets Skids: a great city stands in the distance, and four moons float the sky above, as does a huge, multi-coloured [[spark]]. The orb of energy communicates with Skids in a synesthetic medley of sensations that he cannot comprehend, but his struggle for understanding is cut off by a cry for help from Rung from the other side of the portal. Skids sprints back through to the control room, now flooded with Legislators, and dives into battle... though nobody notices the tendrils that follow him out of the portal and drag Pharma's headless body back through. Informed of Tyrest's law-amending computer by Ambus, Tailgate saves the day by scampering to the console and putting his knowledge of the [[Autobot Code]] to use re-writing section 500, remembering at the last moment the pivotal relevance of a semi-colon. His amendment repeals the law—"'''all''' of it"—causing the Legislators to cease functioning, but the victorious Tailgate then collapses.

The next day, back on the ''[[Lost Light]]'', Cyclonus stands vigil over Tailgate, who is only minutes from death. Tailgate sadly confides that he was only two weeks old when he became trapped under the [[Mitteous Plateau]], and that he has wanted to do something important with his life ever since... but having now done so, he finds it all a bit underwhelming. He asks Cyclonus to kill him quickly, to spare him the agony of his final moments, but Cyclonus refuses. A communique from [[Ratchet (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Ratchet]] brings Cyclonus rushing, but the call proves to have been premature: Tailgate's spark has contracted beyond the point the cybercrosis cure Ratchet and [[Swerve (G1)|Swerve]] have divined from Pharma's medi-bay would work. Cyclonus returns to Tailgate's side, and silently impales the little bot on his [[Great Sword]].

Some time later, the ''Lost Light'' departs [[Moonbase One|Luna 1]], having gleaned all they could from what remained there. Rodimus and Ambus—now back in his armor and Ultra Magnus once again—talk things out, listing off damage the adventure has caused, including [[Brainstorm]]'s retreat into his laboratory with the [[Point One Percenter]] spark. The pair idly wonder how Luna 1 was able to remain missing for so long... never having seen the set of five gigantic planetary turbines on the moon's dark side, surrounding a strange gear-like heiroglyph that was among the images projected by the giant spark Skids encountered...

Later still, Magnus speaks with a repaired, refurbished Cyclonus, and asks for an update... on Tailgate. Cyclonus—now with his missing horn replaced, a gift created for him by Tailgate—explains that he is recovering well, his spark having been re-energized to a point where the cure could be implemented thanks to a transfusion of energy from Cyclonus, through the Great Sword, as suggested by Whirl just as Cyclonus was returning to Tailgate's room. Impressed by Cyclonus's actions, Magnus formally welcomes him on board.

:I think that given the way that characters are treated elsewhere on the Wiki, not splitting the page is unjustifiable for any reason beyond convenience, and that's not a compelling argument since leaving it as-is will also result in confusion. The problem is that Ultra Magnus (G1) has a clear equivalent in Autocracy!Ultra Magnus. The rest of Ultra Magnus' history is the history of an item called the "Magnus Armor" created by a third party. This isn't a Wiki of what the characters believe to be true in the story, but of what is true in the story. Moreover, I STRONGLY suspect that by the end of this arc we will have a new character, with a clear, pre-established name and history, donning the Magnus Armor and possibly even the name "Ultra Magnus." Then what would you do? That said, splitting of the article should certainly not occur at least until we have a new Magnus status quo.

OK I had another crazy idea. For my part I thought this: "the original is the only one who ''is'' the same dude as the other G1 UMs", was an extremely important point, and why it struck me as unusual that Ultra Magnus' exploits would be chronicled on the same page as people masquerading as him, wearing what may or may not be his actual corpse. But that doesn't seem as important to everyone as it does to me, so I had a brainstorm. Just going to wade in here and suggest that while I agree about not splitting the page for all the various holders of the title, the Magnus Armor itself should probably get its own page, just explaining its creation, history, and functions (like the built-in recall feature). And anything about its wearers can just link back to the IDW UM page. I mean, the Armor of Unicron has a page to itself, and that was just a creation of the ''Cybertron'' dub. In Tyrest's medibay, the unhinged [[Pharma]] espouses the virtues of facility's bleeding-edge tech, with which he professes he can perform supposedly impossible medical procedures. Observing that Pharma has not taken back his original hands, [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] tries taunting him, accusing him of not being ''able'' to remove them from his body. Ratchet proposes a contest: the pair will work on two patients with the same injury, and the first to complete the surgery wins the hands. Pharma agrees and reattaches Ratchet's head and spark to his body, but Ratchet awakens to see with horror that his deranged counterpart has selected [[Ambulon]] and [[First Aid (G1)|First Aid]] to be their patients. Pharma ignores his attempts to beg off the contest, and announces he will be cutting them in half. Ratchet assures them that bisection from the waist is an easy fix... until Pharma buries his chainsaw in Ambulon ''lengthways'', splitting him from head to crotch!

Back in the prison, Swerve has come around and explained to Rodimus and the others about the capture of the ''Lost Light'', and that he and Skids were taken by Star Saber, who they know as a holy warrior from Cybertron's past who tried to orchestrate the genocide of unbelievers. Theorizing on Skids's possible crime, [[Chromedome (G1)|Chromedome]] recalls his "invisible gun", believing he must have stolen it. Jut as Skids starts to awaken, Star Saber himself arrives outside their cell with another prisoner in tow, and Chromedome realizes something: when he read Skids's memories months ago and detected only a "need to escape", he had actually been sensing a ''name''. The name of Skids's old partner, who stands before them in chains now: [[Getaway]]!

Elsewhere, Ambus confronts Tyrest and demands answers, which Tyrest flatly supplies. He was one of those appointed by [[Nova Prime]] to develop the means by which Transformers were "constructed cold", in response to Nova's (correct) fear that the pulsewaves that generated new "forged" sparks would eventually stop. But contrary to what the public believes, constructed Transformers were ''not'' brought to life using the energy of other sparks: their sparks were, in fact, generated from the [[Matrix of Leadership]] by Tyrest and his team's manipulations of the talisman, before a team member had an attack of conscience and hid it away. Years later, during the [[Aequitas]] trials, Tyrest realized that every single Autobot prosecuted had been constructed cold, and came to believe that he had perverted the forces of creation and was responsible for spawning a tainted, evil subspecies. Wracked with guilt, he began drilling holes in his armor in a form of self-flagellation, eventually drilling one into his own brain that caused an "epiphany". Tyrest believed he had found the location of the [[Knights of Cybertron]] and their [[Cyberutopia]], and now plans to use his [[space bridge]] to join them there after atoning for his sins: destroying every Matrixed spark through the activation of a universal killswitch. Ambus refuses to allow Tyrest to complete his plan, so Tyrest implements the newest amendment to his self-titled accord—pre-emptive execution—and has a Legislator crush Ambus's head to powder.

Pharma agrees and reattaches Ratchet's head and spark to his body, but Ratchet awakens to see with horror that his deranged counterpart has selected [[Ambulon]] and [[First Aid (G1)|First Aid]] to be their patients. Pharma ignores his attempts to beg off the contest, and announces he will be cutting them in half. Ratchet assures them that bisection from the waist is an easy fix... until Pharma buries his chainsaw in Ambulon ''lengthways'', splitting him from head to crotch!

Back in the prison, Swerve has come around and explained to Rodimus and the others about the capture of the ''Lost Light'', and that he and Skids were taken by Star Saber, who they know as a holy warrior from Cybertron's past who tried to orchestrate the genocide of unbelievers. Theorizing on Skids's possible crime, [[Chromedome (G1)|Chromedome]] recalls his "invisible gun", believing he must have stolen it. Jut as Skids starts to awaken, Star Saber himself arrives outside their cell with another prisoner in tow, and Chromedome realizes something: when he read Skids's memories months ago and detected only a "need to escape", he had actually been sensing a ''name''. The name of Skids's old partner, who stands before them in chains now: [[Getaway]]!

Elsewhere, Ambus confronts Tyrest and demands answers, which Tyrest flatly supplies. He was one of those appointed by [[Nova Prime]] to develop the means by which Transformers were "constructed cold", in response to Nova's (correct) fear that the pulsewaves that generated new "forged" sparks would eventually stop. But contrary to what the public believes, constructed Transformers were ''not'' brought to life using the energy of other sparks: their sparks were, in fact, generated from the [[Matrix of Leadership]] by Tyrest and his team's manipulations of the talisman, before a team member had an attack of conscience and hid it away. Years later, during the [[Aequitas]] trials, Tyrest realized that every single Autobot prosecuted had been constructed cold, and came to believe that he had perverted the forces of creation and was responsible for spawning a tainted, evil subspecies. Wracked with guilt, he began drilling holes in his armor in a form of self-flagellation, eventually drilling one into his own brain that caused an "epiphany". Tyrest believed he had found the location of the [[Knights of Cybertron]] and their [[Cyberutopia]], and now plans to use his [[space bridge]] to join them there after atoning for his sins: destroying every Matrixed spark through the activation of a universal killswitch. Ambus refuses to allow Tyrest to complete his plan, so Tyrest implements the newest amendment to his self-titled accord—pre-emptive execution—and has a Legislator crush Ambus's head to powder.

It's obvious at this point that this is the crime Skids is guilty of.

==Synopsis==
[[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] rendezvous with [[Wheeljack (Prime)|Wheeljack]] in a wooded area to search for the third of four relics. Though Wheeljack rubs Ratchet up the wrong way, they take off in the [[Jackhammer (Prime)|Jackhammer]] to find the relic and soon pick up [[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]] as company. After Wheeljack dogfights with Soundwave for a few minutes, Soundwave releases [[Laserbeak (Prime)|Laserbeak]] to take over the attack on the ship. Wheeljack is more than happy to chase Laserbeak instead though as they chase the drone, it almost cause them to hit the side of a mountain. He finally scores a hit on Laserbeak, but as it goes down, a random shot hits the Jackhammer, bringing the ship down as well.

Ratchet is keen to resume the search for the relic, but Wheeljack spots the downed Laserbeak. They examine it, and Wheeljack hits on the idea of planting a grenade in it to provide the Decepticons with a surprise. It gives Ratchet a better idea—implanting a virus to get them access to the ''[[Trypticon (Prime)|Nemesis]]'' computer and uplift the [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]] database. He contacts base and asks [[Raf Esquivel|Raf]] to prepare a virus. At Raf's suggestion, they implant a grenade into Laserbeak as well to provide a decoy that the Decepticons will find and throw them off the scent of the virus. Wheeljack leaves Ratchet to find Soundwave so he can buy Ratchet time.

Meanwhile Soundwave has located the relic, the [[Resonance Blaster]], and dug it up. Wheeljack quickly locates him and attacks. They trade blows until Soundwave relieves Wheeljack of a sword and uses his tentacles to throw the Autobot around. Wheeljack manages to use Soundwave's tentacles against each other and cracks the Decepticon's visor with his head. They go flying off the cliff, but Wheeljack finally has Soundwave at his mercy, at least until Soundwave grabs the Resonance Blaster with a tentacle and uses it on Wheeljack. Wheeljack succumbs to the weapon's effects.

Ratchet and Raf begin uploading the virus into Laserbeak, but as they need it online to do so, the drone activates and tries to fly off, forcing Ratchet to hold it down. Soundwave is about to finish off Wheeljack when he detects activity from Laserbeak and heads off to investigate. Wheeljack has time to warn Ratchet before falling unconscious, and the virus download finishes in time for Ratchet to hide before Soundwave arrives. After some tense moments, the Decepticon picks up Laserbeak, but appears to be alerted to Ratchet. Soundwaves tentacles venture into Ratchet's hiding place, but as it turns out they're merely after a lost piece of Laserbeak. Having retrieved it, Soundwave heads off back to the ''Nemesis''. Ratchet, unable to raise Wheeljack, goes to help his comrade.

[[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]] is happy with Soundwave's find, though disappointed at [[Dreadwing (Prime)|Dreadwing]] and [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]]'s performance. Megatron has Knock Out examine Laserbeak and they find the grenade which Knock Out disposes of (Albeit some initial panic). Soundwave returns to working on the Iacon database.

Returning to the Jackhammer, Ratchet calls for a [[GroundBridge]], having forged a mutual respect with Wheeljack. He bridges back to base, where the computers are busily downloading the Iacon database. A short time later, Raf reports that [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] is returning to base, but as they open the GroundBridge, Bulkhead comes flying through, his back smoking.

==Synopsis==
Airachnid muses to Megatron about Soundwave's inevitable decryption of the [[Project Iacon|Iacon files,]] and requests for her tracking abilities to be enlisted in the search for the resulting coordinates. Megatron dismisses her, and Soundwave replays the audio of her suggestion to leave Megatron [[One Shall Rise, Part 3|earlier]]. He contacts Dreadwing, who replies with an oath of loyalty. The leader orders him to perform a task he normally performs [[Rock Bottom|himself]], but now leaves to his first officer. The Seeker is confused, as Airachnid holds that position, but his mission becomes clear—he is to dispose of the treacherous spider.

Breakdown, Dreadwing, and Airachnid follow the trail of an unconfirmed energon deposit. Airachnid is amused at the heavy backup, and takes the opportunity to grill Breakdown on his lack of skill, and lack of eye. Dreadwing attempts to calm him, but another insult puts him into a frenzy. He jumps at the spider, but is webbed in the face. Dreadwing joins the fray, but is pinned to a tree by Airachnid's webbing, but not before he lets off a blast which collapses a tree on Airachnid. She finds one of her legs damaged, and retreats. Breakdown gives chase, and finds her collapsed in a ravine. As he raises his hammer to finish her, webs—[[MECH|not from Airachnid]]—immobilize it in the air. Airachnid raises a leg to slice him through.

A contingent of MECH soldiers come upon Breakdown's remains.

In a cave, Starscream pities his lot in life as he jumps for a meager scrap of energon. He is interrupted by a nearby rumbling that surprises him—it is an Insecticon, unearthing a large chunk of energon. He orders the brute to hand it over, but it attacks him, forcing him to hide. He witnesses the Insecticon bowing to another surprise—Airachnid. He makes himself known, and she makes her rogue status known, giving Starscream the idea to propose an alliance to overthrow Megatron with the help of her oversized herald. She proposes an alternative—she overthrows Megatron, and orders the Insecticon to destroy Starscream.

At base, Ratchet recieves another [[Orion Pax, Part 2|high frequency message on a restricted band,]] again from Starscream, who promises valuable intel for medical aid. His intel proves none-too-relevant until he mentions the Insecticon, and provides Airachnid's location. Back at base, Arcee
berates Ratchet and Bulkhead for letting him go again, but Optimus is confident in sparing helpless lifeforms, regardless of personal vendettas.

Airachnid contacts Megatron and proposes a challenge. He accepts, and forbids Dreadwing to follow him.

Megatron arrives at the mine, and is beset upon by the Insecticon, who ignores Megatron's orders to stand down and begins to beat him down. Before long, however, the former gladiator is on equal footing with the beast . The Autobots bridge in, and Arcee goes for Airachnid. Below, Megatron gains the upper hand, removing the Insecticon's limbs and finally decapitating it. Megatron announces his superiority, before falling. The Autobots surround him, and Optimus Prime prepares to execute him. Laser blasts fill the air, and Dreadwing, accompanied by a large detachment of Vehicons, surrounds them. They agree to trade their lives for Megatron's. As Dreadwing and Megatron fly off, Megatron shows his appreciation for Dreadwing's disregard of orders.

Arcee follows Airachnid, but finds herself suddenly stuck in a trap. As her rival prepares to finish her, a missile streaks through the air and pushes the spider off Arcee. She escapes as Starscream—intent on payback—continues to fire. Now alone with Arcee, the Seeker recalls her decision to spare him earlier, and cuts her down to settle his debt.

Underground, even as she swears her vengeance, Airachnid comes upon the source of her warrior—an entire nest of Insecticons.

==Synopsis==
[[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] stake out a [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]] mining operation overseen by [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]]. Optimus isn't about to let Megatron have whatever gave off the signal that led him and Ratchet here, and he confronts Megatron just as the Vehicons break earth and hand the package to him. Megatron advises Optimus to stow his weapons; the device they've unearthed is a deadly [[spark extractor]], capable of sapping the spark from the body of every Cybertronian in its radius. He takes the opportunity to gloat about how Optimus—ahem, ''Orion''—led him to it before stepping through the [[GroundBridge]], and ordering the Vehicons to hold Ratchet and Optimus off. Close by, [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] speeds over a cliff and through the attacking Vehicons, before driving into the GroundBridge. He transforms and grabs the package from Megatron's hand, before turning around and bolting. Megatron runs after him, but upon arriving outside the vortex, finds his troops destroyed and all three Autobots gone.

Back at base, Bumblebee brags about his vehicular acrobatics. Ratchet informs Optimus of the reason for the Autobot homing beacon on the device—it was sealed away in Iacon during the war, but was jettisoned offworld when the Decepticons raided the city. [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] asks if Optimus remembers if he transcribed any other coordinates, but Optimus regrets that he does not. Ratchet posits that Megatron said he decrypted multiple targets to play havoc with Optimus' psyche.

On the ''[[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]]'', Megatron laments over the loss of the spark extractor, and regrets that he did no more than destroy Bumblebee's voicebox back on Cybertron. [[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]] reminds Megatron that there are still two contacts on Earth to investigate.

On the road, Bumblebee sounds off to [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] to rendezvous with him at the coordinates of the new distress beacon. Upon arriving, however, the only device present is an upright beacon. Suddenly, Bumblebee is stunned by a large electrical blast, and he falls unconscious. [[Silas]] and a [[MECH]] team emerge from the shadows, including a [[MECH Surgeon]] who starts work on Bumblebee. Unseen by the troops below, Starscream arrives and transforms on an overlooking cliff. As MECH spots Bulkhead incoming, the surgeon finishes his work, and the team departs in a helicopter. Bulkhead arrives and asks Bumblebee who did it, but Bumblebee doesn't recall. Bulkhead advises pursuit, and transforms to roll—but Bumblebee doesn't. Antsy at the hold-up, Bulkhead asks Bumblebee why he's not transforming, and Bumblebee replies that he can't.

Back at base, Ratchet scans Bumblebee and discovers that his [[transformation cog|T cog]] is missing. The Autobots quickly work out MECH is behind it, and Optimus tells Bumblebee he's going to have to rely on his friends for a while. Bumblebee is very depressed. Optimus is worried about what Megatron might unearth next.

MECH install Bumblebee's T cog into the robot they've built, but when they power it up and have it scan a helicopter, the robot is unable to transform. Starscream, who has been spying on them, reveals himself and proposes an alliance. He explains the T cog requires [[energon]] to work. He intends to supply MECH with information on energon so they can work out a way to find energon deposits.

Bumblebee is making a pain of himself bugging Ratchet, who asks [[Raf Esquivel|Raf]] and [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] to keep him busy. Unfortunately all of their entertainment reminds Bumblebee of his missing vehicle mode. Raf makes another attempt to make Bumblebee feel better, but is undermined by Arcee and [[Jack Darby|Jack]] racing into the base at high speed. Ratchet has to stop Bumblebee from going out for a walk, but feels guilty at his inability to fix his fellow Autobot.

Some time later, Ratchet picks Raf up outside school, much to the boy's discomfort.

On monitoring duty, Bulkhead detects a signal, and Bumblebee insists on going with him to investigate.

Raf asks how Bumblebee's voice box was damaged, and Ratchet tells how Bumblebee was captured at [[Tyger Pax]] and given a working over by the Decepticons. Though a [[Ratchet (Prime)|field medic]] saved the scout, it wasn't enough to save his voice box.

Bulkhead and Bumblebee track the signal to a cave. [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]] soon comes barreling out, closely followed by [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]]. While Bulkhead tackles the latter, Bumblebee attempts to chase Knock Out on foot. He soon finds he can't even transform his arms to deploy his guns, and is forced to continue the pursuit by using an old truck as an impromptu go-kart. Unfortunately it loses a wheel, and as Knock Out speeds off with the pilfered device, Bumblebee is sent flying off a cliff.

==Synopsis==

As he leads the [[Autobot]]s further toward [[Earth]]'s core, [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]] is again seized by a vision of the planet exploding. He notes how [[Unicron]]'s strength grows ever stronger, and continues on. [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] and [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]] both voice their mistrust of the [[Decepticon]] leader, though have no choice but to follow him. Unbeknownst to them, several strange mechanical creatures observe the intruders to their dark domain.

Back at [[Autobot Outpost Omega One|base]], [[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] and the [[human]]s watch a report that outlines how the planet's chaotic weather continues to spiral out of control. Despite [[June Darby|June]]'s efforts to lighten the mood, [[William Fowler|Fowler]] insists that something must be done—even if it means contacting his associates at the [[Pentagon]]. Fowler makes known his uneasiness about teaming up with Megatron, but Ratchet surprises the humans by explaining how such a situation has happened before. Ratchet explains how Optimus Prime and Megatron were once close friends, in the twilight hours of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]'s [[Golden Age]]. He states that the great Autobot leader was once named Orion Pax, a simple clerk in the [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]] Hall of Records. ''Is the last thing that I wanted...!'']] Orion Pax, learning of Cybertron's past, grew concerned about the corruption affecting high places and the [[Caste system|state of inequity]] in society. Orion became inspired by the revolutionary words of Megatronus; a gladiator who took his name from [[The Fallen|one]] of the [[Thirteen original Transformers|thirteen original Primes]]. Megatronus gained a loyal following through his radical and innovatory actions, [[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]] chief among their number. Over time, Megatronus became a mentor figure to Orion Pax, and chose to shorten his name as he left the gladiatorial arena for the political one. Megatron appeared before the [[Autobot High Council|High Council]], voicing his ideas for shaping a new Cybertron by violent means, and demanded to be named the next [[Prime (rank)|Prime]]. Orion protested against Megatron's suggestions before the Council, moving their [[spark]]s and minds as he unknowingly revealed himself to be the one worthy of the title. Megatron severed his ties to Orion and the Council, taking his "Decepticon" followers to begin the [[Great War (Prime)|war]] that consumed Cybertron and vowing to claim the legendary [[Matrix of Leadership]] for himself. Hoping to reverse the damage that had poisoned the planet, Orion journeyed to Cybertron's [[Core]]—where he found himself before the spark of [[Primus]], the creator of all [[Cybertronians]]. Primus sensed the purity of Orion's own spark and bestowed upon him the legendary Matrix, transforming him into Optimus Prime. In the present; [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] and [[Jack Darby|Jack]] question Optimus's plan to give the Matrix to the Earth's core, asking what could possibly stop Megatron from attempting to claim if for himself now. Ratchet sceptically replies that Megatron only intends to save the Earth so that he may conquer it at a later date.

As they near Unicron's spark, [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] begins to feel the draining effects of the [[Dark Energon]]. [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] and Arcee help him a short way across the catwalks, but Megatron soon comes to a halt ahead with the realisation that Unicron is preparing to expel them. A huge number of Unicron's drones suddenly swarm into view, surrounding Megatron and the Autobots. They engage the drones in fierce battle, blasting and slashing through their attackers. Arcee is knocked to a lower level, not long before the Dark Energon clouds Bulkhead's vision. He stumbles from the catwalk but manages to grab hold of the platform, and is seized by Bumblebee before he can tumble to his death. Optimus and Megatron fight back-to-back, managing to hold their own against the drones in a spectacular display of effective—if uneasy—teamwork. Bumblebee struggles to hold onto Bulkhead, who insists that the scout lets him go. Optimus seizes Bulkhead just as Bumblebee loses his grip, and hauls him up to safety. As the group quickly becomes overwhelmed, Arcee hitches a ride on one of the drones to catch up with the others and beat a swift retreat.

Aboard the [[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]], [[Airachnid]] outlines the questionable nature of their leader's recent behaviour. [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]] asks whether she is suggesting that they abandon Lord Megatron. Airachnid explains how Megatron's undetectable signal implies that he is either offline or at the mercy of Unicron—neither scenario is in the best interests of the Decepticons. She suggests an exodus from Earth, and receives no protests from the surrounding [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicons]]. Her order to retreat to [[Regulon Four]] is denied by Soundwave, who silently challenges her authority. She assumes an aggressive stance, ordering him to step aside. Soundwave does not comply, so she leaps to attack him. Soundwave easily blocks every one of her blows, before lifting her clean into the air. He hurls her back, deploying [[Laserbeak (Prime)|Laserbeak]] to stun Airachnid in a sudden sneak attack. Pinned under Soundwave's foot, much to Knock Out's amusement, Airachnid relinquishes command to the intelligence officer.

Back in the Autobot base, Ratchet notes how he has lost the others' communication links and life signals, most likely caused by interference from the electromagnetic anomalies. Miko asks how they are supposed to know when the others are ready for pickup if contact is impossible—but Ratchet is prevented from responding by the sound of Jack tapping the [[GroundBridge]] key against a railing. Ratchet reveals that the object is actually the [[Key to Vector Sigma]]—one of Cybertron's most precious relics. Ratchet then realises that Optimus entrusted the key to Jack because he did not plan on returning from the planet's core.

Megatron is gripped by yet another painful vision of Unicron whilst he and the Autobots are backed into an enclosed chamber by the attacking drones. Unicron orders him to destroy Optimus. Instead, Megatron saves the Autobot leader by blasting an oncoming drone. He then indicates a closed doorway nearby, stating that Unicron's spark lies just beyond. He explains how, to pass through, they must fool Unicron into believing that they pose no danger, and moves his Dark Energon-infused chest up to the door. It opens in response, and Optimus orders the others to remain outside and provide cover fire while he and Megatron advance.

The passageway beyond leads directly into Unicron's spark chamber, where Optimus prepares to expose the Matrix within his chest. Unicron's spark reacts, striking both invaders with its energy. Unicron again orders Megatron to kill Optimus, forcing him to unsheathe his blade and approach the weakened Prime. Megatron struggles against him, declaring himself to be under the command of no-one. His resistance provokes only an onslaught of pain and a furious reaction from the Chaos Bringer.

The volcano outside erupts violently, and the ground enclosing the Autobot base begins to quake. Ratchet tells the humans to take cover, and moves to shield them from falling debris with his arms.

Unicron's spark adopts the appearance of a face, as Megatron is seemingly freed from his control. Optimus calls upon the power of the Matrix of Leadership, though hesitates as Unicron possesses Megatron's body in a veil of purple flame and declares his own invincibility. Optimus cuts short Unicron's desire to pull the Earth into chaos, and rises to his feet as he too becomes surrounded by a brilliant blue light. Optimus fires the power of the Matrix from his chest directly into Unicron's spark, the resulting wave of energy knocking Megatron back off his feet. His energy drained, Optimus falls to his knees, and Unicron's spark emits a final wail of pain before vanishing into oblivion.

The drones outside suddenly fall from the air, lifeless. The volcano, along with all of the Earth's other natural phenomena, subside back to normality. Ratchet and the humans watch as the monitors flicker online, rejoicing as their team's life signals are all safely re-established. Aboard the Nemesis, however, Soundwave also detects the signature of the Decepticon leader.

Megatron rights himself in Unicron's now-empty spark chamber, inspecting Optimus's steaming body for a moment before unsheathing his blade. Optimus gazes blearily up at the approaching Decepticon, addressing him as "Megatronus" while asking about their current location. Surprised, Megatron retracts his weapon and helps the Autobot to his feet. Bumblebee, Bulkhead and Arcee soon burst through the wall to assist, but Optimus does not recognise them. A GroundBridge suddenly opens nearby; Megatron claims that the Autobots are their sworn enemies, and provides cover fire as Optimus heads for the vortex. Optimus blankly meets Bumblebee's devastated gaze for a split second, before disappearing through the Bridge. Megatron follows, leaving the shocked Autobots alone in the empty chamber.

Ratchet GroundBridges the team back to base, but is anxious to see that Optimus is not with them. They explain that Optimus is still alive, but did not even know his own name. Ratchet realises that surrendering the Matrix of Leadership caused their leader to lose not only the wisdom of the Primes, but his own memories as well.

Knock Out and the other Decepticons, minus Airachnid, welcome Megatron back aboard the Nemesis. Megatron steps aside to allow Optimus through, and [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]] automatically moves to attack. Megatron halts him, insisting that this is no way to treat a "long lost comrade", and declares that Orion Pax is one of them.

During the final days of the war against the Autobots, Barricade was part of the bridge crew of a Decepticon starcruiser under the command of their leader, [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]], serving alongside [[Brawl (Prime)|Brawl]]. Megatron planned to steal the last remaining supply of [[Dark Energon]] from an orbiting relay station guarded by the neutral Sky Commander [[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]]. After gaining entry into the station (by ramming the ship into the station; talk about a barricade), Barricade accompanied Megatron and Brawl into Starscream's station to gain control of the last remaining supply of Dark Energon, so that Megatron could use the corrupted, highly dangerous energy source to 'save' Cybertron. Yeah, it wasn't a very good plan. While fighting through the station, and hordes of Starscream's soldiers, Barricade expressed doubts that Dark Energon was everything Megatron believed it to be, and also that the station was ''totally'' old and decrepit, though Megatron said he had plans to [[Trypticon (Prime)|upgrade]] the station. Despite his skepticism, Barricade helped Megatron secure the supply of Dark Energon, and it would seem his skepticism about the Dark Energon was silenced when Megatron infused him with its power.

During the final days of the war against the Autobots, Barricade was part of the bridge crew of a Decepticon starcruiser under the command of their leader, [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]], serving alongside [[Brawl (Prime)|Brawl]]. Megatron planned to steal the last remaining supply of [[Dark Energon]] from an orbiting relay station guarded by the neutral Sky Commander [[Starscream (Prime}|Starscream]]. After gaining entry into the station (by ramming the ship into the station; talk about a barricade), Barricade accompanied Megatron and Brawl into Starscream's station to gain control of the last remaining supply of Dark Energon, so that Megatron could use the corrupted, highly dangerous energy source to 'save' Cybertron. Yeah, it wasn't a very good plan. While fighting through the station, and hordes of Starscream's soldiers, Barricade expressed doubts that Dark Energon was everything Megatron believed it to be, and also that the station was ''totally'' old and decrepit, though Megatron said he had plans to [[Trypticon (Prime)|upgrade]] the station. Despite his skepticism, Barricade helped Megatron secure the supply of Dark Energon, and it would seem his skepticism about the Dark Energon was silenced when Megatron infused him with its power.

Long-time lurker, hopefully I can start making some edits of my own to the wiki! I'm a huge Transformers nerd, even though I was born in 1985 and was sort of too young to really be a part of the first wave of Transformers, though I do cherish my DVD of the original movie.

Anyway, what about me, what about me, what about me...

-I am Canadian. 
-My interest in Transformers was renewed with Beast Wars (Or 'Beasties' as we in the Frozen North knew it. Not me, however, since I watched the show on an American channel out of Detroit, not on a Canadian channel like YTV). Trukk or munky? I'm cool with either. 
-Skipped over Beast Machines, Robots In Disguise, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, but DID make a point of watching Animated. 
-I found the first Michael Bay movie pretty enjoyable, but ROTF is utter drekk. I shan't be giving Michael Bay my money for a third movie. 
-However, I DO own ROTF: The Game since it did get fairly decent, if not great reviews. Anyway, it was a birthday present too. I'm much more stoked about War for Cybertron. 
-Own a variety of Transformers toys, but the gem of my collection is an unopened G1 Grimlock in the original packaging I got as a Christmas gift. At first I thought it was a reissue, but then I saw the Robot Points on the packaging and realized it was an authentic G1 toy, thankfully before I'd damaged the box or caused the toy inside to, um, disintegrate. That's when I knew I was actually something of a collector. I also own a set of G1 Constructicons, and I have a set of Encore Combaticons on the way. 
-On the subject of the Constructicons, they are my homeboys. 
-I want to own a gun Transformer. Looking at you, Galvatron! 
-I am making plans to attend next year's Botcon. 
-I suggested Energon Inferno for the sweepstakes contest on the grounds that after that whole 'Improsoned Inferno' fiasco, the guy needs all the help he can get. 
-I am thy god. Worship me for I am wrothful.
