In 2012, Vroom was stationed with several other Pretenders in Japan within Skyhammer under the leadership of Metalhawk. He was present one day when Rad reported from the Ironworks base in Oregon about a foiled attack by Gigatron and his Decepticons. Soon thereafter, due to the actions of an evil Ultra Magnus from another dimension, a rift of space time opened over Earth, causing catastrophes worldwide. Vroom assisted his peers in evacuating a devastated city block. Invasion (issue)

Shortly after their Earth survived the catastrophe by transporting into the negative polarity universe, it also started to come alive. Calling itself "Gaea", the Earth mysteriously transported the entire human population to another Earth in another universe. For reasons unknown, Vroom and his Pretender companions were displaced with them. The Future Buried... Vroom took up the codename "Vroman," and him and his allies set out to uncover the mysteries of their new world; while all the cities and animals on this planet were the same as their old one, no humans appeared to have called this Earth home prior to their arrival. Buster set up Vroom, Spike, Crossblades, and Elizabeth with an apartment in Yucatán, but the group found it difficult to both get themselves employed and investigate a mysterious radio signal burst detected in the area. While out on a walk with Crossblades, Vroom came upon Spike rescuing a father and daughter from a car crash. The two Autobots came to his aid, hiding their Cybertronian strength during the rescue to avoid anti-Transformer sentiments from the onlookers. The trio then met up with Elizabeth and Metalhawk, and went out to dinner. After their meal, they were accosted by a mugger, who wound up shooting Metalhawk in the chest. Assembly (OMAM) Though the bullet did little harm, it did spill energon, revealing to the mugger that Metalhawk wasn't human. Vroom and Crossblades leaped onto the mugger to restrain him, and asked Metalhawk how they were to deal with him. Before he could answer, two officers from the local police force turned up, and took the whole group to the Mérida police station to be questioned. When the topic of no bullet having been found at the crime scene came up, despite the officers having heard a gun go off, Vroom rambled off that he and his friends were definitely not alien robots in disguise. The two officers interviewing him retorted that they only wanted to make sure that no one in the nearby crowd had been hit. Vroom and the others were allowed to leave, only to be met by a mysterious stranger outside of the police station, who claimed he knew of the Autobots' true identities. Vroom reiterated that they definitely weren't robots from Cybertron but the stranger was only interested in delivering a message: an evil force was coming... Insight

Though Vroom and company were highly suspicious of the man, they agreed to follow him nonetheless, as he claimed to have a spaceship stashed nearby. As they neared the craft however, the man revealed himself to be a Decepticon Pretender, and opened fire on Spike to provoke the Autobots into unveiling their true natures as well. Vroom and the others had the history of the local Autobot/Decepticon war recounted to them by their opponent as they battled, the Decepticon's tale culminating in the revelation that Vroom and his pals were up against Megatron himself! History
Insane risks are what give Vroom a reason to live, it seems. There's nothing that sparks his circuits like just barely out-running the expanding fireball of a Decepticon installation he just blew to smithereens. He made his name in the Asphalt Wars of Cybertron, and since that day has been pushing his endurance (and luck) with more and more dangerous missions. Sure, with his skill, he could probably achieve them with a lot less threat of injury or death... but where's the fun in that?

Vroom was present when the Decepticons unleashed a robotic hell-beast known as 'King Con' on New York. After he suggested the Autobots needed to lure the Decepticons out of the city, Optimus Prime rented a helicopter to fly a banner announcing huge raw oil deposit finds in the Rocky Mountains. After a short hesitation, the Decepticons retreated to pursue these findings. Transformers Comic-Magazin issue 7

When a dimensional bridge formed and linked together different times and worlds, Vroom and Crossblades were faced with the might of Thunderwing, who emerged from the bridge. Transformers Comic-Magazin issue 9 Later, when the Decepticons threatened a nuclear submarine to steal its cargo, Vroom suggested that the Autobots feint an acquiescence to their demands so they could set up a surprise attack. Transformers Comic-Magazin issue 13
Vroom was stationed at the penal colony Garrus-9, under the overall command of Fortress Maximus. Though he fought on the frontlines firing two guns at the same time, he and his fellow soldiers failed to repel a raid by Banzai-Tron's strike team, the Combaticons. Spotlight: Arcee

History
Vroom was seen running alongside Crossblades on a rocky field of battle. Both of their robot forms then burst out of their Pretender shells; shells and robots both transformed and charged, with Vroom re-combining with his shell's vehicle mode. Commercial/Generation 1#Mega and Ultra Pretenders
