Script: Rough summary of stasis rewritten to be more continuity neutral, per the previously tagged cleanup

Stasis, or sometimes stasis lock, is the most common form of suspended animation for Cybertronians. Depending on circumstance, they may choose to either willingly enter to stasis for reasons of conversation of energy, or have it forced upon them by specialized tools and weaponry.

The exact methods of inducing stasis can vary, but the most common one is a stasis pod that will induce stasis via a means of a freezing gas released once a Cybertronian is placed inside.

Sometimes this is done willingly, as going into stasis preserves the energy of the individual by putting them into a state of deep sleep. It can also be done simply to ease the passing of time during a long journey. In some cases, it serves as a Cybertronian equivalent of anesthesia , making it easier to operate on a damaged patient or allow them to rest while their internal mechanisms handle repairs. These systems may activate automatically upon a Cybertronian taking a sufficient amount of damage to cause these in-built failsafes to trigger.

At other times, stasis can be caused by weapons designed to effectively freeze a Transformer in place. As Cybertronians come in many different shapes and sizes, this often is a reliable manner of imprisonment that will fit the captive Transformer no matter their build. Specialized cuffs are often produced to take advantage of this effect. Depending on the intent of the user, this can allow for the safe neutralizing of a dangerous target, while still leaving them otherwise unharmed, either for questioning or just out of an aversion to taking life. For those for whom morals are not a concern, however, weaponized stasis can be a dangerous tool to freeze a victim in place and render them helpless to greater violence to follow.

2005 IDW continuity
Stasis lock to a Cybertronian was analogous to unconsciousness in a human. Earthfall Part 5: I Dream of Wires

A group of Maximal explorers, brainwashed by Shockwave into thinking they were Autobots and Decepticons, fell into stasis as a result of Earth's increasingly hostile weather and a lack of energon. Strange Visitors Their tormentor was likewise entombed after being at ground-zero of an exploding volcano. Spotlight: Shockwave

After suffering extensive torture at the hands of Scorponok, The Ties That Bind (issue) Grimlock was left within a stasis pod. Rules of Disengagement (issue)

After Garrison Kreiger triggered the Talisman energy within him, Centurion managed to channel and suppress the energies but at the cost of falling into deep stasis. Unification Day: Dusk He regained consciousness after the Talisman had been activated. The Dead Come Home, Part 1 (of 2)

Wings Universe
When the Cybertronian Knights were called in for a dreaded mandatory lecture and meditation session from Alpha Trizer, Devcon quipped to Flare-Up that 'bots had been bored into stasis lock by such sessions. Apelinq pointed out the story must have been a rumor. Tornado - Decepticon Saboteur

Beast Wars: Uprising
To avoid being interrogated by Wolfang, Fennec entered a voluntary stasis lock. Trigger Warnings

Star Trek vs. Transformers
Upon crashing on Earth, the Autobots and Decepticons aboard the Ark wound up in stasis lock following the latter's violent boarding of the Autobot ship. Four million years later, in the 23rd century, the sequence of events repeated itself aboard Fortress Maximus on Cygnus Seven whose autonomic systems reactivated his passengers when a Federation survey team triggered his proximity sensors. Prime's Directive, Part Two

2019 IDW continuity
At the end of the War of the Threefold Spark, Exarchon jumped into Provoke's body and entered emergency stasis lock, allowing himself to be buried until the time was right for him to reemerge. War's End Part One For her crimes during the conflict, Pyra Magna was locked in stasis in the White Tower. She was roused from this state every 2000 cycles to be reminded of why she was imprisoned before being returned to stasis. Rise of the Decepticons: All Fall Down

Cybertron's population of Titans orbited the planet in stasis, ready to be awakened at a moment's notice from any space-borne threat. The World In Your Eyes Part One

Following an accident with Perceptor's upgraded teleportation harness, Jumpstream was left in stasis lock, Lord of Misrule: Test Flight II needing attention from Ratchet to emerge. Lord of Misrule: Sea of Rust I

Following the Decepticon takeover of Velocitron, Minerva was sentenced to indefinite stasis by Knock Out. Tread & Circuits Part 4

Last Bot Standing
Following the deaths of Strongarm and Gripper, Rodimus went into stasis lock for centuries, locked in his alternate mode as Shib Wallkis's wagon. Last Bot Standing issue 1 Last Bot Standing issue 3

Lacking the resources needed to build a faster-than-light spacecraft, Steeljaw's pack of survivors travelled across the galaxy in capsule fired like a bullet from a gun, riding out the journey in stasis lock. Following Rodimus defeating the visitors on Donnokt, he turned their ship into an orbiting capsule, locking the survivors in their stasis pods before he too eventually returned to stasis. Last Bot Standing issue 4

Energon Universe
Millions of years ago, Jetfire fell into stasis lock on a barren planetoid, not far from the Sacred Ring. He was eventually awoken by the Zertonian pilot Solila, and her reluctant Agorrian ally Darak who energized his alternate mode, hoping to use it as a way off the planet. Concerned as to the state of Cybertron, Jetfire made for home after he awoke. Void Rivals issue 1 On Cybertron, only Shockwave remained active, his fellow Decepticons having entered stasis lock to preserve energon. Void Rivals issue 4

Tracking the Ark to the planet Earth, Jetfire found his old friends in stasis lock. Unaware of the Autobot/Decepticon war that had broken out in his absence, he ordered Teletraan One to repair all of the passengers. When Starscream and Skywarp dragged the Decepticons closer to the supercomputer so they could heal first, Optimus opened fire on Teletraan, leaving the majority of the Autobots and Decepticons in stasis. Transformers (2023) issue 1

Using Skywarp to repair Teletraan One, Transformers (2023) issue 4 the Decepticons managed to bring more of their number out of stasis. After securing an energon supply, the Autobots were able to revive Arcee. Transformers (2023) issue 5 Once the Autobots had retaken the Ark, Wheeljack tried to bring more Autobots out of stasis but hit a roadbloack when he accidentally reactivated part of Skywarp's mind. Transformers (2023) issue 7

Live-action films continuity
Megatron went into stasis lock while frozen in the Arctic.

In the novelization of Revenge of the Fallen, instead of being outright killed by Megatron's attack, Optimus Prime was put into a state of deep stasis lock. His body was so damaged it could take thousands of years for it to repair itself, so he may as well have been dead.

Sentinel Prime was discovered on Earth's moon in a similar state before being revived via the energies of the Matrix of Leadership. Transformers: Dark of the Moon (film)

Optimus Prime went into stasis after an encounter with Lockdown and Cemetery Wind in Mexico City before Cade Yeager's tampering with his internal mechanics reactivated him. Transformers: Age of Extinction (film)

Upon leaving Earth, Optimus exhausted his Energon reserves and fell into stasis in the vicinity of Jupiter. When Cybertron entered the Sol system, Optimus was caught in its gravity well with his homeworld's atmosphere rousing him. The Guardian Knights had willingly gone into stasis to safeguard the Staff of Merlin and awoke when their ship was breached. Transformers: The Last Knight (film)

Animated continuity
Cybertronians bound by stasis cuffs were considered to be in stasis lock, a state where they were totally immobile but remained fully conscious and aware. Mission Accomplished Skywarp was likewise placed in this state during the battle for Megatron's space bridge while professing his irrational fear of the condition. A Bridge Too Close, Part II

At the end of the Great War, Ratchet placed the critically damaged Omega Supreme in a modified form of stasis lock until he could be repaired. TransWarped Sigma Supreme was placed in a similar state by Perceptor. Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac II

Aligned continuity
To defeat Unicron, the Thirteen concocted a plan where the youngest of their number, Optimus Prime, would enter the Chaos-Bringer and expose his Primus-like spark to Unicron's anti-spark, the resulting interaction knocking both into stasis lock. While Optimus was revived by Quintus Prime's Emberstone, Vector Prime created a time-loop around Unicron with the intent of leaving him comatose forever.

When the Great Cataclysm struck Cybertron, the few Primes left (including Prima and Alpha Trion) rounded up as many survivors as they could and led them underground to wait out the cataclysm in protective caves where they instructed their followers on how to enter stasis. Left on the surface, the Predacons attempted to fly to safety before vague instinctual knowledge of stasis lock kicked in and they attempted to seek shelter underground. However, the time of the Predacons was over and they seemingly never reemerged from stasis lock, eventually going extinct. Transformers: The Covenant of Primus

After being attacked by a swarm of Insecticons, Sludge was badly damaged and forced to enter stasis lock. His body was discovered by Jazz and Cliffjumper. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron (video game) An Autobot clean-up team eventually found and revived the Dinobot. Beast Hunters issue 2

Megatron was later heavily injured after a space bridge explosion, Darkness Rising, Part 5 and was put in stasis aboard the Nemesis after Starscream and Soundwave located him. Masters & Students

During a perfect alignment of forty-seven celestial bodies, the magnetic and gravitational forces acted on Unicron's inert body and he finally emerged from stasis. One Shall Fall One Shall Rise, Part 1 Exposure to the energies of the Matrix of Leadership returned him to stasis. One Shall Rise, Part 3

After Bumblebee crash-landed at the Rescue Bot Training Center, a baby Energon eater that had attached to the ship escaped into the facility and began to drain the Energon from each of the Autobots, leaving them in stasis comas. Uninvited Guest

In certain situations, stasis is used as a form of anesthesia (complete with slurred speech and going under and coming out of it). Operation Bumblebee, Part 2 The Nemesis was equipped with a Stasis Beam, locking whomever it hit in a form of stasis. When an infusion of Dark Energon brought the Nemesis to life, it turned the weapon first against Team Prime and then against its own crew. When the Dark Energon was expunged from the ship, the effects of the stasis beam wore off. Flying Mind

In the post-war era, the criminals aboard the prison ship Alchemor were kept within stasis pods utilizing cryo-gas. Pilot (Part 1) Decepticon Island (Part 1) In order to retake the ship's drive section from the Decepticon convicts, the Autobots detonated a stasis bomb that rendered all those onboard into stasis. Decepticon Island (Part 2)

Scorch ended up in stasis lock after running out of energon, but was later revived when he was gotten back to base. The Ties That Bind (episode) Wedge noted he was unbeatable at the Cybertronian party game Musical Stasis. An asteroid struck Citadel Secundus, creating an anti-energon field that put everyone on board into stasis lock, except for Wedge who protected himself with a shield emitter. Space Party He was able to revive the other recruits with additional shield emitters, and once the anti-energon field faded, everyone else came back online. Crash of the Titan

Cyberverse cartoon
Beneath the Argon Sea, the broken Dweller existed in stasis lock. The monster emerged from stasis after the Great War, when a fragment of Windblade's mind found its way to him. Dweller In The Depths (Cyberverse)

When the Ark crashed on Earth, Grimlock was ejected from the ship. He quickly went to work trying to find his ship only for an asteroid impact to knock him into stasis lock for the next 65 million years. King of the Dinosaurs

After Optimus Prime had used the Matrix of Leadership to punch the AllSpark out of Starscream, I Am The Allspark the strain left him in deep stasis. He was later awoken by the chaos of the Ark being bombarded by the Nemesis. Escape From Earth

One film
During the war against the Quintessons, the Thirteen were betrayed by Sentinel and lured into an ambush. Though twelve of the group perished, Alpha Trion fell into stasis. There he remained for fifty cycles until a quartet of cogless miners found and revived him. Transformers One (film)
Games
Fall of Cybertron
Following his defeat by the Autobots, Trypticon's injuries left him in deep stasis.

When Jazz followed a distress signal beneath the Sea of Rust, he found Sludge in stasis. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron (video game)
