'''William "Bill" Rawley''' is one of [[Hasbro|Hasbro]]'s Senior Product Designers on the ''Transformers'' brand. He mostly handles "non-mainline" design work, which evidently includes [[Robot Heroes|Robot Heroes]], [[Cyber Slammers|Cyber Slammers]], [[Real Gear Robots|Real Gear Robots]] and possibly more. He previously worked on [[Robot Replicas|Robot Replicas]] and [[Unleashed|Unleashed]] figures for the [[Transformers (2007)|Movie]] toyline, but is no longer involved with those items.

Recently, he acted as lead designer on the new-mold [[Classics|Classics]] segment of the forthcoming ''[[Universe (2008)|Transformers Universe]]'' toyline.

He is capable of lifting [[Eric Siebenaler|Eric Siebenaler]] and [[Vickie Stratford|Vickie Stratford]] onto his shoulders, although not at the same time (so far as it is known).

Here, Over-Run told him, was a direct point of access to Cybertron's planetwide internal mainframe, a mass intellect which can give him answers. Touching the platform, Prime was transported into the [[Hub (Energon)|Hub]], a digital world, where a bearded sage appeared. It was revealed to Prime that [[Unicron|Unicron]] will return, the [[Terrorcon (Energon)|Terrorcons]] are gathering, and that his old foe [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]] still persisted within the heart of Unicron. And most importantly, [[Energon|<b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">Energon</b>]] existed in vast quantities on [[Earth|Earth]], and the Terrorcons would strike there soon! {{storylink|This Evil Reborn|This Evil Reborn}}

Prime returned with this information to the [[Autobot High Council|Autobot High Council]] at the [[High Halls|High Halls]], telling him of the vision he received from this planetary intelligence named "Sig-Omega." During one such visit, after using the reality-warping properties of the [[Unicron Singularity|Unicron Singularity]] to enlist [[Sentinel Maximus|Sentinel Maximus]] from another timeline, his chamber came under attack by [[Unicron|Unicron]]'s herald, [[Ramjet (Universe)|Ramjet]], and his partner, [[Nemesis Prime (Universe)|Nemesis Prime]]. While Vector Prime battled Ramjet, Sentinel Maximus failed to defend Alpha Trion, and Nemesis Prime threw Alpha Trion into [[Vector Sigma|Vector Sigma]], severely damaging both. {{storylink|Balancing Act|Balancing Act}}

* When designing movie Longarm, reference from [[Activision|Activision]] had not arrived, forcing Kubalsky to make up his own transformation scheme and robot design (which intentionally borrowed some elements from Generation 1 [[Hoist (G1)|Hoist]]). By the time reference arrived, it was too late in the process to make any major changes, but Kubalsky was able to graft elements from the game model's chest and arms onto the newly-created design (which he felt worked out rather well).

The combined form of the five [[Protectobot|Protectobots]] '''Defensor''' exists specifically to safeguard [[Human|human]] life. In many ways he feels about the human race the way a parent would their children and he would give his life away in an instant rather than let one human come to harm. Defensor is emotionally attached to humans on a level that sometimes worries his fellow Autobots. He identifies with them the same way a sheep dog would with its flock or a puppy with its human owners. As far as Defensor is concerned the humans are his "kind." Sadly the titanic robot giant's attempts at personal interaction and friendly exchanges with humans tend to fail. We humans tend to be more wary and frightened of his alien nature and great size than Defensor can understand. Despite this, Defensor is fairly well adjusted mentally compared [[Devastator|to]] [[Abominus|almost]] [[Menasor|every]] [[Superion|other]] Generation 1 Gestalt.

Defensor's most notable ability is a powerful [[Force field|force field]] he can create within 50ft of his person, but it is very fuel consumptive and he cannot maintain it for long.

[[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] met at a fuel research station with the Protectobots and the [[Combaticon|Combaticons]], planning to brawl over it. When [[Ethan Zachary|Ethan Zachary]] suggested they uploaded themselves to the computer to battle over it safely, both sides agreed.

In the virtual world, after each individual Protectobot had taken care of a Combaticon, they combined to fight Megatron, leaving Optimus Prime safely off to the side. Defensor burned the bridge he and Megatron were standing on, letting them both 'die' in the virtual world.

Not long after, the Protectobots were summoned by the current leader Grimlock to find and arrest Blaster. They came up against the Combaticons during this mission, culminating in a battle between Defensor and Bruticus. Unusually for [[Scramble City|Scramble City]]-style combiners, Defensor's head is not a separate piece, but hidden inside his fire truck ladder assembly, like [[Inferno (G1)|Inferno]]. He is armed with Hot Spot's twin laser rifles. Though any of the smaller Protectobots can serve as any limb, the "correct" configuration has Blades and First Aid as arms, and Groove and Streetwise as legs.

:Defensor's arms are very commonly mis-transformed, even in official artwork such as the box art above (in which Streetwise and First Aid have also reversed positions). In fact, there is only one Autobot who remains under his command whose name is known: [[Ultra Trion|Ultra Trion]]. Needless to say, he needs more help. He is now the focal point of Megazarak's obsession to destroy all of the Autobots of his Cybertron.
