You'd be hard pressed to find a robot more friendly and compassionate than '''Flip Sides'''. A former teacher, she is well-suited to managing data, military history and coordinating, and has been given the task of managing waves of remote-controlled combat drones. She's well-liked and personable, and a valuable Autobot fighter.

And it's all a lie, even to Flip Sides herself.

She is in actuality a sleeper agent placed into the Autobot ranks thousands of years previous. She has no memory of her former self, which has been carefully buried under her Autobot persona, and will not awaken until the intricate timer mechanism also buried inside her programming triggers. What her Decepticon self is like is entirely unknown, but the thousands of years of data she's collected will undoubtedly be used to devastating effect. ''When'' this happens... nobody knows, possibly even the mysterious Decepticons who programmed her.

She has a phobia towards mechanoids with more than two legs, which can lock her systems up if she is surprised.

Millions of years ago, Override was one of the Autobots under the command of a young, inexperienced [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], then a junior officer. Leading them into neutral territory to meet with a wise Transformer known as [[Boltax]], they encountered several booby traps along the way. Override in particular was helpful in deactivating the [[mercury minefield]] which threatened to boil them. When they reached the [[Temple of Knowledge]], Override and the other Autobots were instructed to wait outside while Optimus Prime communed with Boltax. {{storylink|The Flames of Boltax!}}

Years later, in the present day, Override, the other Triggerbots, and the [[Sparkabot]]s were imprisoned by the Decepticons. Three of their number were taken by the Decepticons to [[Earth]], but Override was left behind. {{storylink|Ca$h and Car-nage!}}

During the [[Matrix Quest]], the Triggerbots were sent to the planet [[Cheyne]]. Once a geeky collection of circuits and servos, Crankcase began life as a menial janitor in the Fuel-Spill Section of the [[Ministry of Energy and Nutrition]] on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. The bullies of his youth put a huge chip on his shoulder, where he now carries a set of heavy guns. He'd rather use them on those too weak to retaliate, and then laugh in their faces while their [[Energon (fuel)|energon]] runs out. This makes him momentarily happy; then he goes back to an endless series of griping complaints about every facet of his miserable existence. A complete jerk and slag-piece, he fits fairly well into the [[Decepticon]] military, but adds very little to it. The [[Autobot|Autobots]] certainly wouldn't want him. Anyway, [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|some Autobot]] made a really long and self-important speech, picked up [[Creation Matrix|some knick-knack]] he found lying around and yada yada yada, someone was probably expecting Crankcase to clean up the mess. Some new guy named [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]] took over the Decepticons after that and used [[Metallikato|the scientific method]] to pick a new world to plunder. The weak little inhabitants of [[Klo]] put up no fight whatsoever, which was really pathetic. Then the Autobots showed up and got massacred, which was even more pathetic. THEN the Autobots all started coming back to life and doing annoying things like caving in Crankcase's entire skull. He knew it would come to this, he just knew it. {{storylink|End of the Road! "Great, another leader who talks with his fists," thought Crankcase. Crankcase was so sure everything would go wrong, he wasn't even impressed when the Decepticons captured the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] with the [[Holocaust Trigger]] and didn't even have to raise a weapon. Big whoop. Oh sure, Crankcase took his turn torturing their captives like all the other Decepticons, but he just knew the Dinobots would get free and ruin everything, he just knew it. So it was no surprise to Crankcase when he came across the [[Micromaster]] named [[Roadhandler (G1)|Roadhandler]] about to free [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]]. The Dinobot commander charged Crankcase and hit him with enough force to embed the Triggercon in the far wall. {{storylink|Another Time and Place}}

The largest inhabitant of Velocitron (yet speed-wise he can still smoke most off-worlders), '''Crumplezone''' is undeniably the brawn of the gruesome twosome formed with the weaselly [[Ransack (Cybertron)|Ransack]]. It's not that Ransack is really all ''that'' much smarter than Crumplezone, it's just that the big lug just tends to leave the thinking to others, going along with whatever scheme his best (and possibly only) friend Ransack has cooked up. Being bad is just ''easier'', and a lot more fun. Plus, [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]] is less likely to blast him then.

Ransack and Crumplezone were the first Velocitronians approached by Megatron, and were quickly cowed into servitude. Under Megatron's command, they sought out clues to the planet's [[Cyber Planet Key]], first terrorizing [[Brakedown (Cybertron)|Brakedown]] and [[Clocker (Cybertron)|Clocker]], then convincing [[Dirt Boss (Cybertron)|Dirt Boss]] to help them win the [[Planet Cup]] race. All throughout, they snuck around, trying to manipulate and cheat their way though, eventually abandoning Dirt Boss during the desert portion of the race. They made it to the final leg of the race: a vast, twisting track deep inside the planet, but blew all their power ''very'' early in the race and were left eating dust by [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]] and Override. They decided to attempt to just flat-out steal the Planet Cup, and naturally failed.

After their failure to capture the Speed Planet's Cyber Planet Key, Ransack and Crumplezone joined Megatron's forces off-planet attempting to collect the other Cyber Planet Keys. When [[Starscream (Armada)|Starscream]] gave Megatron a false map that was in fact a trap, Crumplezone was the only one not trapped in it, and he quickly panicked. However, he went to find their newest ally [[Scourge (Cybertron)|Scourge]], and soon(ish) Megatron was free... and ''pissed''.

Crumplezone joined his boss on the return to [[Earth]], fighting against both the Autobots and the Decepticons under Starscream's command. The battlefield quickly shifted to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], where Crumpleone ran afoul of a swarm of [[Scrapmetal (type)|Scrapmetal]], succumbing to their numbers and exploding. {{storylink|Balance|Balance}}

Near death, he was revived by the ghostly form of Megatron shortly after (in a more powerful body to boot!), and the grateful duo continued to follow Megatron, all the way to [[Gigantion]] the Giant Planet. There... they suffered humiliating defeat after humiliating defeat, pretty much. For a brief moment they had a shot at actually achieving something for Megatron by kidnapping the [[Mini-Con]] [[Jolt (Cybertron)|Jolt]], but were outsmarted by [[Bud]] and his new [[Cobybot]], then subsequently blasted through a few layers of Gigantion by [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] using [[Metroplex (Cybertron)|Metroplex's]] colossal axe "Sparkdrinker", which was really overkill.

When Megatron-then-Galvatron finally obtained the [[Omega Lock]] and all four Cyber Planet Keys, they followed him back to Cybertron and the edge of the [[Unicron Singularity]]. There, when threatened by hundreds of Transformers from across the colony worlds, Galvatron used the powers of the Omega Lock to make his lackeys gigantic and incredibly powerful. Crumplezone ended up facing off mostly against his fellow [[Velocitron|Velocitronians]], including Dirt Boss. Despite his super-size, he ended up running away as he was attacked on all sides.

After Galvatron's plans to accelerate the growth of the Unicron Singularity failed, Crumplezone and the other Decepticons left Galvatron, realizing that he had had no intention of sparing their lives from the cataclysm should he have succeeded. They re-appeared on the displaced [[Jungle Planet (Cybertron)|Jungle Planet]], as the citizens and [[Autobot|Autobots]] were trying to prevent one of the massive planetary engines that was returning the world to its rightful place from falling over. Surprising everyone, they ''helped'' right the engine, having decided to try being good guys and being on the winning side for a change.

Ransack, Crumplezone and [[Thunderblast (Decepticon)|Thunderblast]] journeyed together across each of the worlds, trying to find a place to fit in. Ultimately failing, on Earth they cobbled together a makeshift rocket and headed for the stars, shanghaiing [[Thundercracker (Armada)|Thundercracker]] before they left, eager to become the [[New Decepticon Army]].

The rocket crashed on [[Mars]], to comedic effect.

Prowl's dedication to logic and reason make him an excellent strategist, but not much of a socialite. He really doesn't tend to get along well with his fellow Autobots, many of whom find his strict adherence to military protocol stifling, and his uptight personality sure doesn't help matters. He does not react well to the unexpected, to the point that it can literally scramble his cerebral circuits. Prowl found himself revived just in time to engage the Chaos-Bringer known as [[Unicron]] for the sake of all Cybertron, and then bury his longterm friend and leader, Optimus Prime, who sacrificed himself to destroy Unicron. {{storylink|On the Edge of Extinction!}} At Prime's last request, Prowl reluctantly supported Grimlock as new leader of the Autobots. While Grimlock pursued his own interests, though, Prowl found himself working almost alone trying to maintain the tenuous peace between the Autobots and Decepticons. Instead they revived intent on opposing him. Prowl joined [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]], [[Sunstreaker (G1)|Sunstreaker]], [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]] and [[Silverbolt (G1)|Silverbolt]] in overpowering and capturing the renegade Decepticon. Several months after the incident on Klo, Prowl caught wind of Grimlock running off on his own again, this time back to [[Hydrus Four]]. Prowl alerted Optimus Prime to the situation, but was surprised when his leader harshly rebuked him for bringing it to his attention. When Prime made it clear he didn't want anything to do with Prowl's report, the Autobot strategist stormed off to consider the problem himself. After some solitary computation, Prowl decided that the threat of Decepticons following Grimlock to Hydrus Four and acquiring [[Nucleon]] was too perilous to ignore. He was rushing out of his chambers, ready to throw together a squad of Autobots regardless of what Optimus Prime thought, when he ran smack into Optimus himself. Prime apologized to Prowl for "hiding his head in the sand"—he had wanted the war to be over so badly, for his fellow Autobots' sake and not his, that he was willing to ignore an obvious threat. The two old friends shook hands and proceeded to gather their strike team.

On Hydrus Four, Prowl joined a small group of commandos including [[Springer (G1)|Springer]], [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]], [[Nightbeat (G1)|Nightbeat]] and [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]] to scout the enemy position. Millions of years later in the Earth year of 1984, the Autobots and Decepticons awoke and resumed the [[Great War (G1)|Great War]]. After the murder of [[Bumper (G1)|Bumper]] and [[Fastback]], Sentinel and Prowl led a security forces deployment that arrested much of Megatron's pit fighters and those that they were attempting to recruit. Jazz's reputation helped keep them in line, particularly the recalcitrant Ironhide, who had taken to striking superior officers including Prowl himself. After the situation with Ironhide was defused, Prowl got Jazz to admit the energon searches he'd been sending troops out on were just to keep the men busy. Fun Publications proved themselves collectively to be Satan incarnate in April 2008 when they "leaked" three pages of what was purported to be the set's accompanying comic, but which was, in fact, an April Fool's gag by [[Pete Sinclair]], [[Greg Sepelak]] and [[Trent Troop]]. Taking the silly concept of an "evil parallel universe" and giving it the respectably campy treatment it deserved (including such gags as an ingenious Grimlock, a Jazz that talked like Mr. T and reverse-[[Furmanism|Furmanisms]]), the comic was rendered in the art style of [[Derek Yaniger]] and even featured flat, 1992-era coloring to complete the effect. Each face represents a different aspect of the Quintesson, though for four of the five faces, there are conflicting accounts as to what each represents.

This scientist instigated a plan to get the [[Decepticon]]s to unwittingly release the trans-organics from their prisons deep within [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] so they would wipe out all Transformer life. The plan ultimately backfired; the Dweller killed the other trans-organics, and was launched into space by the [[Autobot]]s... where it smashed into the scientist's ship, which was en-route to Cybertron. In ages long past, a cold and emotionless race of aliens called the Quintessons created two lines of sentient robots on a planet-sized factory known as [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. One was a line of robots designed for domestic duties and labor (known as [[Autobot]]s), and the other was a line designed for military use, (known as [[Decepticon]]s). The Quintessons were exceptionally cruel to their creations, eventually leading to wide-spread rebellion, a rebellion started by the Autobot [[Alpha Trion (G1)|A3]]. Forced to flee the planet, the Quintessons eventually settled on the small, twisted planet of [[Quintessa]], but fostered an undying hatred of all Transformers for millions of years. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4}}

In 2005, they were shown to capture prisoners for trial and feeding to their army of [[Sharkticon (G1)|Sharkticons]]. The mock trials held by the Quintesson Court seemed to have no purpose at all (except maybe for the Quintessons' amusement), as defendants were still immediately fed to the ravenous Sharkticons even when the Judge determined them to be innocent. However, the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] managed to rescue the pair of Autobots the Quintessons had captured. One year (or possibly five years, depending on whom you ask) after the defeat of [[Unicron]], the Quintessons reappeared. Upon capturing the 'bots, the Quintessons seemed more interested in interrogating their prisoners than feeding them to the Sharkticons. The Quintessons betrayed Galvatron almost immediately after the battle had been won, toggling a [[Large switch|switch]] which caused all Transformers the galaxy over literally to freeze where they stood. The six found themselves on a strange, alien world in the year 2011. With their ship ensnared, they were herded by [[Sharkticon (G1)|Sharkticons]] to the Space Tribunal, where the Quintessons put them on trial for time-traveling without their permission.

When Shaoshao asked if being cute was a crime, the Quintessons threatened to charge her with contempt of court. Atari suggested using their Kiss Play abilities to transform into cute costumes and ask the "octopusses" nicely to let them go. But turning into a swimsuit-clad elementary school girl and asking the judge's permission to go to the potty only resulted in Atari and her friends being found "not guilty" and dropped into the Sharkticon pit below.

Rescued by [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Goldbug]], they fled back to Fortress Maximus and re-entered the time portal. Sucked into the maelstrom along with them, the Quintessons demanded that the process stop, saying that they were the last of their kind. But it was too late, and the aliens were trapped inside the hole in space-time.

Fun Publications proved themselves collectively to be Satan incarnate in April 2008 when they "leaked" three pages of what was purported to be the set's accompanying comic, but which was, in fact, an April Fool's gag by [[Pete Sinclair]], [[Greg Sepelak]] and [[Trent Troop]]. Taking the silly concept of an "evil parallel universe" and giving it the respectably campy treatment it deserved (including such gags as an ingenious Grimlock, a Jazz that talked like Mr. T and reverse-[[Furmanism|Furmanisms]]), the comic was rendered in the art style of [[Derek Yaniger]] and even featured flat, 1992-era coloring to complete the effect. Rather unexpectedly, the fandom responded in a virtually unheard-of manner—the comic was almost unanimously loved.

Then it turned out that the most popular thing Fun Publications had ever done wasn't real.

The popularity of "Shattered Expectations" led to several of its aspects being incorporated into the actual "Shattered Glass" world, via online prose stories. Subsequent stories have also taken a more campy approach to creating parallel universe versions of characters, as opposed to the rather uninspired straight-faced take of the convention comic.

This scientist instigated a plan to get the [[Decepticon]]s to unwittingly release the trans-organics from their prisons deep within [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] so they would wipe out all Transformer life. The plan ultimately backfired; the Dweller killed the other trans-organics, and was launched into space by the [[Autobot]]s... where it smashed into the scientist's ship, which was en-route to Cybertron. In ages long past, a cold and emotionless race of aliens called the Quintessons created two lines of sentient robots on a planet-sized factory known as [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. One was a line of robots designed for domestic duties and labor (known as [[Autobot]]s), and the other was a line designed for military use, (known as [[Decepticon]]s). The Quintessons were exceptionally cruel to their creations, eventually leading to wide-spread rebellion, a rebellion started by the Autobot [[Alpha Trion (G1)|A3]]. Forced to flee the planet, the Quintessons eventually settled on the small, twisted planet of [[Quintessa]], but fostered an undying hatred of all Transformers for millions of years. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4}}

In 2005, they were shown to capture prisoners for trial and feeding to their army of [[Sharkticon (G1)|Sharkticons]]. The mock trials held by the Quintesson Court seemed to have no purpose at all (except maybe for the Quintessons' amusement), as defendants were still immediately fed to the ravenous Sharkticons even when the Judge determined them to be innocent. However, the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] managed to rescue the pair of Autobots the Quintessons had captured. One year (or possibly five years, depending on whom you ask) after the defeat of [[Unicron]], the Quintessons reappeared. Upon capturing the 'bots, the Quintessons seemed more interested in interrogating their prisoners than feeding them to the Sharkticons. Luckily, Spike stopped the Quintessons before they had much of a chance to do anything. Later plots by the Quintessons were no less nefarious. A rogue Quintesson scientist abducted three Transformers and a [[Marissa Faireborn|human]] for behavioral study, a scheme that nearly killed the entire group after they drifted into a black hole. {{storylink|The Killing Jar}} Later, the Quintessons revived the deceased [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] in an attempt to lure all the Autobots into a trap and destroy them with a supernova. During the [[Hate Plague]] crisis, a single Quintesson was rescued from his infected Sharkticons by [[Sky Lynx (G1)|Sky Lynx]], to restore life to the body of Optimus Prime. The Quintesson mentioned that his race had gone into hiding in the farthest reaches of the galaxy. The six found themselves on a strange, alien world in the year 2011. With their ship ensnared, they were herded by [[Sharkticon (G1)|Sharkticons]] to the Space Tribunal, where the Quintessons put them on trial for time-traveling without their permission.

When Shaoshao asked if being cute was a crime, the Quintessons threatened to charge her with contempt of court. Atari suggested using their Kiss Play abilities to transform into cute costumes and ask the "octopusses" nicely to let them go. But turning into a swimsuit-clad elementary school girl and asking the judge's permission to go to the potty only resulted in Atari and her friends being found "not guilty" and dropped into the Sharkticon pit below.

Rescued by [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Goldbug]], they fled back to Fortress Maximus and re-entered the time portal. Sucked into the maelstrom along with them, the Quintessons demanded that the process stop, saying that they were the last of their kind. But it was too late, and the aliens were trapped inside the hole in space-time.
