Ironhide was a rookie soldier on Cybertron, training to become a full-fledged Autobot after the Unicron Battles. When the [[Terrorcon (Energon)|Terrorcon]] invasion began, he was at a sparring session with [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]], and volunteered to come along on the investigation of [[Mars City]]. Optimus agreed to bring him along, and the mission led to a full-scale assault in progress on Earth at [[Ocean City]]. It was there that Ironhide first met the energon-sensitive human named [[Kicker Jones]]. It was Kicker who alerted the Autobots to the Terrorcons' arrival, but he also nearly got himself killed by recklessly engaging them in battle. Optimus Prime told Ironhide to watch out for Kicker on the battlefield, and the two were soon paired up in a permanent partnership...one that neither of them approved of. {{storylink|Cybertron City (episode)|Cybertron City}}

When the Terrorcons struck again at [[Lunar City]], Ironhide was eager to jump into battle, but Kicker left him behind by flying to the moon with [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]]. When Optimus Prime and Ironhide eventually followed, Ironhide rushed into battle alone and pounded his way through a number of Terrorcon drones. He got too cocky, however, and thoughtlessly reached for some raw energon, momentarily forgetting how volatile the substance was before an [[Omnicon]] refined it. The resulting energy backlash damaged Ironhide, and allowed several Terrorcons to escape unmolested with their stolen energon. Back on Ocean City, Ironhide blamed himself for the loss of the energon, but Optimus Prime pointed out that if Kicker had been backing up his partner like he had been ordered to, Ironhide wouldn't have been off alone. Chagrined, Kicker apologized to Ironhide by kicking him in the head. {{storylink|Energon Stars}}

Next, the Autobots prepared to reinforce their defenses at the remaining active energon mines on Earth: Ocean City, [[Desert City]], and [[Plains City]]. Kicker correctly predicted the next Terrorcon attack would come at Desert City, and Ironhide and Kicker bridged there to rescue [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]] and Kicker's friend,[[Misha Miramond|Misha]]. Hot Shot was injured battling the new Terrorcon general, [[Scorponok (Energon)|Scorponok]], but Misha's Omnicon research team created a new refined energon star to revive him. As Ironhide and the group exited the mine to reach the wounded Hot Shot, they were confronted by Scorponok. Ironhide threw himself into battle with Scorponok -- the first of many struggles between the two warriors -- but was hopelessly outmatched. The Omnicons tossed him the star meant for Hot Shot, despite his protests, and with its power Ironhide succeeded in holding off Scorponok long enough for their escape. In the aftermath, Hot Shot was revived and Optimus decided to reward Ironhide for his valor on the battlefield. Having a Combination Spark didn't necessarily mean knowing how to use it, however, as Jetfire repeatedly discovered while trying to train Ironhide to combine properly. Despite his difficulties, Ironhide was beamng about his promotion. When he heard about a light guard detachment on Mars City overseeing some newly found energon, he graciously volunteered to go up there and show "those rookies" how to do things. Ironhide soon managed to back up his boasting during another battle on Earth, where he and Jetfire managed to successfully sync their Combination Sparks and save Optimus Prime's life in a fight with Scorponok. {{storylink|Megatron's Sword}}

Ironhide accompanied Kicker and Hot Shot on a winter mission to find new energon, but had trouble working with the former Decepticon, [[Demolishor (Armada)|Demolishor]]. Even after ten years, Demolishor still had little regard for Autobots, especially Autobot rookies. The fact that two of his fellow Decepticons, [[Cyclonus (Armada)|Cyclonus]] and [[Tidal Wave (Armada)|Tidal Wave]], had recently defected to the Terrorcons made Ironhide even more leery of relying on Demolishor in the field. {{storylink|The New Cybertron City}}

As the Autobots became more accustomed to the Terrorcon raids, the defense became easier. Multiple energon-powered gun turrets defended each city, and the Autobots were all veterans at Terrorcon-smashing by this point. On one raid, Ironhide and Inferno arrived only to find the Autobots on scene had already eliminated the opposition. Things didn't stay easy for very long, however: [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]] resurrected himself in the bowels of Unicron, and assumed control of the Chaos-Bringer, driving out Alpha Q and commandeering the Terrorcons. In a Decepticon-led attack on [[Plains City]], Megatron obliterated the installation and ripped Hot Shot apart, triumphantly displaying his body as Ironhide, Kicker and the other reinforcements arrived. {{storylink|Megatron Resurrected}} Ironhide was furious over Hot Shot's injuries, and vowed to take vengeance on Megatron for his friend. When Megatron attacked Ocean City next, Ironhide jumped in-between Megatron and Demolishor, demanding satisfaction on behalf of Hot Shot. Unfortunately for Ironhide, Demolishor chose to return to his former loyalties, and struck down the young Autobot before he could attack Megatron. When Optimus Prime was being stalked by Alpha Q's new agent, [[Starscream (Armada)|Starscream]], Ironhide backed up Kicker's intuition, as the boy sensed something was wrong before anyone else noticed Starscream had infiltrated Ocean City. Ironhide and the other Autobots worked together to shadow Prime for his own protection, despite his protests. {{storylink|Starscream the Mysterious Mercenary}} Soon thereafter, Ironhide and the others journeyed into the asteroid belt and confronted a massive ship resembling [[Unicron]]. They fought through Scorponok and the ship's defenses and managed to destroy it, but the threat of Unicron lingered on everyone's minds. {{storylink|Battle of the Asteroid Belt}} As the plan for [[energon tower]]s was unveiled, Ironhide successfully defended Ocean City until Doctor Jones' prototype was off the ground and basted away all the Decepticons. During an energon expedition at [[Blizzard City]], Kicker's fear of the dark was affecting their progress in the mines. Ironhide broguht him out into the open air for a break, and was surprised to learn that Kicker had never heard of the great Autobot hero, [[Rodimus (Energon)|Rodimus]]. Ironhide told Kicker the tale of how Rodimus left behind the civil war between the Autobots and Decepticons to pursue greater levels of justice in the universe at large. When Kicker continued to struggle in the mines, Ironhide left him alone to force Kicker to work through his issues instead of avoiding them. Still, Ironhide secretly remained right behind Kicker in the dark, and congratulated Kicker when he found the energon and conquered his fear. {{storylink|The Legend of Rodimus}}

When the Terrorcons invaded [[Jungle City]], Ironhide and Inferno worked together to defend the energon mines. Ironhide just fired away blindly at the enemy, hoping to catch as many Terrorcons as possible in his barrage, but Inferno counselled Ironhide about the value of aiming, and picking your shot to conserve energy and achieve maximum efficiency. As the Autobots were forced to abandon Jungle City, they planned to destroy the installation in their wake by setting off a chain reaction in the energon deposits. Ironhide took Inferno's lessons to heart and volunteered to make the single, long-range shot that triggered the base's destruction. {{storylink|Crisis in Jungle City}}

On an expedition to [[Lunar City]], Ironhide helped Kicker search for an inconsistent energon signal somewhere on the moon's surface. They met up with Demolishor, who tried to trade on their old friendship to lure Kicker into Megatron's clutches. Ironhide didn't trust Demolishor, and chided him about his conflicting loyalties. {{storylink|Kicker Beware!}} As the energon grid neared completion on Earth, Ironhide and Kicker investigated a faulty tower at [[Desert City]]. During their search inside, Ironhide asked Kicker what it was like to be human, with such a brief lifespan compared to a Cybertronian. He couldn't understand how beings could be so vulnerable and still push onwards. Kicker explained that their mortality was what made them human, and their life experiences were that much more precious because they knew how limited their time was on earth. {{storylink|Energon Grid}}

With the Earth secured against any threat, the Autobots prepared to venture back out into space and deal with Unicron one and for all. Kicker was still uncomfortable with being out in the vacuum, so Ironhide tried to cheer him up by being an insensitive prick...apparently. Next, they followed Hot Shot to Mars, where he met the lost Autobot hero, Rodimus. Rodimus had formed an alliance with Alpha Q for his own reasons, and tried to get Hot Shot to keep the Autobots away from Alpha Q's plans. When he refused, Rodimus fired on Hot Shot, and Ironhide lept to his defense. Ironhide was hopelessly outmatched against Rodimus and his highly-trained soldiers, [[Prowl (Energon)|Prowl]] and [[Landmine (Energon)|Landmine]], and was left in the dust on Mars as the trio sped away. Once he calmed down, Ironhide was distraught over his actions, as Rodimus was still technically his superior officer and he had violated Autobot military protocol by attacking him. Ironhide was chosen for the inaugural crew of the ''[[Miranda II]]'', the starship that would carry Optimus Prime's team on their quest against Unicron. As they left Earth and prepared their mobile Space Bridge array for transit, however, the Autobots were attacked by the Decepticons. The Omnicons attempted to repair the damaged portion of the array, but were injured in battle and Ironhide had to cover the helpless warriors. With no one else available, Ironhide called upon Kicker to face his fear of space and come out to fix the array. He talked his partner through the space-walk and gave him constant encouragement, and with Ironhide cheering him on Kicker managed to prep the Bridge. Meanwhile, Ironhide also watched Demolishor fall in battle, sacrificing himself to protect Megatron from an energon wave. This concluded any efforts Ironhide would make to redeem Demolishor, for once the Decepticon soldier was repaired by Megatron, his memory and personality had been altered to leave no lingering loyalty to his former Autobot comrades. {{storylink|Go for Unicron!}} On a distant planet, Jetfire was injured during a search for energon. When Rodimus arrived to discuss Alpha Q with Optimus, they were unable to come to terms over the fate of Unicron. Rodimus was willing to reactivate the entity in the hopes that his power could be used for good, but Optimus found it far to dangerous. As Rodimus's ship prepared to depart, Ironhide decided to take matters into his own hands. With Kicker's blessing, he stowed away aboard Rodimus's ship to follow him back to Alpha Q. Once inside Uncron's head, Ironhide went exploring, but was spotted by Alpha Q. Despite Rodimus's protests, Alpha Q sent out Scorponok and the Terrorcons to test the intruder. Ironhide battled a nest of [[Cruellock]] drones, until his energon booster star got ripped off his shoulder. He fired at the fleeing Terrorcon, detonating the star in a powerful explosion. The Cruellocks were destroyed, and an injured Ironhide stumbled free from the nest to face Scorponok. He fought fiercely, but in his damaged condition Ironhide was certainly no match for Scorponok. Still, he continued to fight right up until the moment he passed out on top of his foe. Scorponok brought the fallen warrior before Rodimus and Alpha Q, and declared him...worthy. {{storylink|A Tale of Two Heros}} As Alpha Q and Scorponok began to repair Ironhide, he groggily called out for Kicker, who somehow heard him across the depths of space, and left the Autobots to come rescue his partner. {{storylink|Battle Stations}}

Kicker found Ironhide in Alpha Q's throne room and demanded his release. Ironhide stood by as Kicker and Alpha Q argued over the use of Unicron, and the renewed war between the Autobots and Decepticons. Kicker made a strong impression on Alpha Q, and the entity allowed Ironhide and his friends to go free. {{storylink|Alpha Q: Identity}} As Kicker convinced Alpha Q to consider an alliance with the Autobots, he and Ironhide traveled on Unicron's head to Cybertron for the historic meeting. {{storylink|Shockblast: Rampage}} When Unicron started to act out of control, Ironhide joined a crew of Autobots and [[Omnicon]]s to bring extra energon down to his core to satiate him. {{storylink|Survival Instincts}} Later, he fought alongside the other Autobots in defense of Cybertron's energon towers. {{storylink|Each One Fights...}} A highly-successfuly Terrorcon raid delivered enough energon to Megatron to transform Unicron and directly threaten Cybertron. Ironhide and the Autobots made an effort to breach Unicron's defenses and attack Megatron within. {{storylink|Unicron Unleashed}}

Ironhide split off from Jetfire in the Divebomb firefight over Unicron to join Optimus and his troop inside of Unicron. {{storylink|Open Fire!}} In the chaos that followed inside, Ironhide was separated from the other Autobots, but met with Scorponok and began to track Megatron's position once more. The two warriors confronted Megatron, despite being horribly outmatched, and fell hard while trying to stop the Decepticon leader. As the conflicting energon charges being tossed around during the battle ripped open a hole in space, Megatron and the Decepticons fled through it, taking Unicron with them. Optimus gathered his soldiers to follow them, but ordered Ironhide to remain behind and provide an update to Cybertron, in case they did not return. Ironhide joined forces with the Omnicons, and Kicker and Misha on board the ''Miranda II'', to prepare a rescue party to go after Optimus and the others. {{storylink|Ripped Up Space}} They traveled through the rift in the ''Miranda II'', and eventually emerged from the other side. {{storylink|Team Optimus Prime}}

Ironhide eagerly reconnected with Optimus and the other Autobots in the new solar system Alpha Q created using the energon power from Unicron's head. On [[Iron Planet]], he joined the Autobots in capturing the lone Decepticon, [[Shockblast]]. When Scorponok arrived with a group of Terrorcons, Ironhide innocently waved over his comrade-in-arms. Unfortunately, Scorponok had been captured and reprogrammed by Megatron after he passed through the rift, making him fanatically loyal to the Decepticons and once again an enemy to the Autobots. Despite the Terrorcons attacking all around him, Ironhide naively approached Scorponok and asked him what was wrong, only to be battered aside by the imposing general. {{storylink|Protection}} Ironhide briefly battled Scorponok again when the Decepticon returned to Iron Planet to free Shockblast. {{storylink|Imprisoned Inferno}} As the ''Miranda II'' made berth on [[Jungle Planet (Energon)|Jungle Planet]], the Decepticons soon tracked the Autobots there in search of energon. Ironhide once again confronted Scorponok, attempting to force through Megatron's brainwashing and remind him of his loyalties to Alpha Q, but to no avail. {{storylink|Jungle Planet (episode)|Jungle Planet}}

As the Autobots prepped for an energon tower being delivered from Cybertron, Ironhide helped clear a landing spot on Jungle Planet for the tower to touch down. When the Terrorcons staged an assault, he defended the energon in order to buy time. Prowl and Ironhide tried to double-team Scorponok, but even together they had little luck against the powerful general. Eventually the energon tower landed and powered up, sending out a destructive wave that cleared the Terrorcons from the planet. {{storylink|Bulkhead (episode)|Bulkhead}} Next, the Autobots prepared to establish an energon grid between the various planets. Ironhide joined Prowl and [[Cliffjumper (Energon)|Cliffjumper]] on [[Rock Planet]] as they fought off Scorponok and his Insecticons. The [[Ocean Planet]] tower fell, however, and the Autobots needed distraction to keep the Decepticons at bay while the replacement tower was sent. Inferno volunteered to lure Megatron out into space, and Ironhide went with him as back-up. {{storylink|Farewell Inferno}}

''Over time, Ironhide began to recognize that Scorponok would never return to the honorable warrior he once knew. As he accepted this, Ironhide vowed that Scorponok must be stopped, out of respect for the memory of who he once was. He received his chance when Scorponok and the Terrorcons attacked the revitalized [[Planet Q]], the recreation of the world Alpha Q and Scorponok once shared. Scorponok demonstrated no memory or respect for the planet in his search for energon, and Ironhide began a vicious battle with him. Outmatched as ever, Scorponok mocked the weaker Ironhide for his hopeless struggling. Ironhide shot back that the REAL Scorponok came to respect his tenacity. Down on himself after a recent string of losses, Ironhide's moping was interrupted by Hot Shot, who brought him to [[Circuit Planet]] for the first [[Autobot Grand Prix]]. Awkward and self-deprecating at first, Ironhide ran into a few walls and soon fell into last place. Kicker was monitoring his progress and soon jumped into the race to give him some help with his driving. (Yes, a being from a species who, by nature, turn into cars got driving lessons from a being that does not.) Together, Kicker and Ironhide forged ahead, successfully passing all the other racers while avoiding heavy missile fire from a very bored Jetfire. In the final leg of the race, Ironhide and Hot Shot fought for the lead when Optimus Prime threw himself in their path as the final obstacle. Ironhide chose to take one for the team and tackled Optimus, telling Hot Shot to go on ahead because he deserved to win. Both Optimus and Hot Shot were proud of Ironhide for the new skills and confidence he demonstrated during the race. {{storylink|Crash Course}}

After [[Wing Saber (Energon)|Wing Saber]] located Unicron's body, Ironhide and the Autobots staged an assault on the Planet-Eater, but were unable to keep Megatron from making Unicron fully operational again. A fleet of energon tower were sent from Cybertron like javelin to impale the now-mobile Unicron. {{storylink|Omega Supreme (episode)|Omega Supreme}} The energon towers failed, and so Ironhide and the Autobots attempted to gain access to Unicron's interior to strike back from the inside. Ironhide found an entrance, but Optimus ordered a retreat because Unicron plowed into the planetary energon grid, dramatically raising his surface temperature. Ironhide was forcibly dragged from the battlefield by the new warrior, [[Omega Supreme (Energon)|Omega Supreme]]. The Autobots were unable to prevent Unicron from reclaiming his head from Alpha Q's [[Energon Orb]]. {{storylink|A Heroic Battle}}

Ironhide accompanied Kicker deep inside Unicron's head to recover Alpha Q's body. They were confronted by Scorponok, who still didn't recognize his former master, but was at a loss for what to do, as the internal struggle between Megatron and Unicron left his new master unable to give orders. {{storylink|The Power of Unicron}} Ironhide and Kicker brought Alpha Q's body to Grass Planet and buried him there. A confused Scorponok arrived on the scene after being booted out of Unicron, but Ironhide still failed to reach the warrior he had know before.

With Unicron fully activational again, the war quickly moved beyond the power of individual Autobots to influence. As Unicron destroyed [[Blizzard Planet]], most of the Autobot forces were sidelined by injuries, leaving only Ironhide and a select few to keep up the fight. Despite Optimus Prime's insistence that they were only get themselves killed, Ironhide was up for more action. Even being physically struck down by his leader didn't deter him. Ironhide and the others continued to strike against Unicron like gnats. Fortunately for them, they were caught in the backlash of Cybertronian Core energies when Primus supercharged Optimus Supreme to planetary proportions. {{storylink|Optimus Supreme}} Ironhide and the others found themselves with new armor, and greater strength than ever before. They maintained strafing assaults against Unicron as Optimus Supreme grappled with him directly and Kicker assembled the energon towers for a powerful strike. With the towers, the power of Primus, and the teamwork of the Optimus Supreme combination, Unicron was finally defeated, his essence scattering to the solar winds. {{storylink|Unicron Perishes}}

Optimus suffered serious injuries after overtaxing his capabilities in battle, and so Ironhide and the others watched over him in stasis on [[Ocean Planet]]. When Megatron resurfaced on Cybertron, however, Ironhide joined the Autobots on the ''Miranda II'' in returning to Cybertron. {{storylink|Ambition}} They arrived on Cybertron and battled the newly-enhanced Galvatron until clouds of Autobot-killing energon gas were released into the atmosphere, driving Ironhide and his friends to retreat. {{storylink|Wishes}} The ''Miranda II'' moved to the upper atmosphere, where the Autobots prepared to drop Kicker and the [[Omnicon]]s (who were immune to the energon gas flooding the planet) down to the world below. Galvatron and the Decepticons attacked, and Landmine fought to delay them long enough for [[Cliffjumper (Energon)|Cliffjumper]] to get the ''Miranda II'' into position for the drop. {{storylink|Galvatron!}}

With Kicker on the ground below, Ironhide patiently waited in orbit over Cybertron, looking for the signal that his partner had succeeded. He spotted the flare and alerted Optimus Prime that Kicker had come through. Ironhide and a small squad of Autobots descended beneath the energon gas through a hole Kicker and the Omnicons created, battling the Decepticons and hooking up with a small group of Autobot soldiers still active in the underground tunnels. {{storylink|Break Through}}

After meeting up with Wing Saber and his band of Autobots, Ironhide was astonished to learn he had fans, [[Rhyming Omnicon fanboys|rookie soldiers]] who worshipped him as a war hero. This trio of rhyming soldiers even created a [[Team Ironhide]] insignia for themselves. As unbelievable was this was, Ironhide was even more surprised when Optimus Prime placed him in charge of his own unit to rescue the remaining Autobot warriors trapped by Decepticon forces on Cybertron. With the rhyming trio and a cadre of Omnicons at his side, Ironhide set off on his mission after sharing his personal victory motto: "Fake it til you make it!" {{storylink|The Omega Train}}

Team Ironhide arrived at the medical facility where Bulkhead and the other patients were entrenched. Ironhide helped clear out the Decepticon troopers and Terrorcons attacking the hospital, and freed his fellow Autobots to rejoin the fight. With his fanboys by his side constantly boosting his ego, Ironhide started to feel as if he were truly invincible. {{storylink|Decepticon Army}} The feeling would be short-lived. Team Ironhide chanced upon Doctor Jones, on the run from the Insecticons. As Scorponok arrived, Ironhide decided the smart play was to retreat and get Doctor Jones to a safe location. Team Ironhide had other plans, though. Fresh from their first victories on the battlefield, the rhyming trio did like Ironhide taught them and drummed up their own confidence to rush into battle with Scorponok. The results were inevitable, and the three rookies were cut down by a single strike from Scorponok's tail. Ironhide was helpless to save his team, and threw himself into the fight with Scorponok, damaging the Terrorcon general's chestplate. Despite his need for vengeance, Ironhide still remembered his mission and got Dr. Jones and his Omnicon teammates to Primus's chamber, where Cyebrtron's core was revived via energon stars. {{storylink|Ironhide Team}}

In the planet's core, Ironhide and the others struggled to prevent Cybertron from smashing into Alpha Q's planets. {{storylink|Formidable}} Once Optimus dealt with the immediate problem, Ironhide joined Kicker and the Omnicons in trying to secure the Super Energon pool. A horde of Terrorcons prevented them from reaching the pool before Galvatron, however. {{storylink|Galvatron Terror}} Ironhide fought against Scorponok once again, continuing his endless efforts to make Scorponok remember his old life, and recognize how unworthy Galvatron was of his loyalty. In the end, Ironhide turned his back on Scorponok, disgusted with how he could not recognize true loyalty when he saw it. {{storylink|Destructive Power}}

With the struggle between Galvatron, Optimus Prime, and Unicron taking place on Jungle Planet, Ironhide and Scorponok were among the last few combatants left on Cybertron. They threw themselves into unrestrained battle, and inflicted catastrophic injuries on one another. {{storylink|Spark (episode)|Spark}} When Ironhide felt his Combination Spark calling him to Optimus and Jungle Planet, he was not strong enough to answer the call. It was Scorponok who carried Ironhide to his friends' side, claiming that he still served Galvatron by helping the Autobots' clear Unicron from Galvatron's mind. Ironhide's spark joined his friends for the final battle, merging with Optimus and Omega Supreme to create the Ultimate Optimus Supreme combination.

After Galvatron was destoyed and Unicron absorbed into a new sun, Ironhide and Kicker returned to Ocean Planet and shared a quiet moment. Ironhide ruminated on how Scorponok died, dedicated to his loyalty, even if it was for the wrong cause.{{storylink|The Sun}}

[[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]] is still hard at work decoding coordinates, while [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]] boasts about his defeat of Optimus. Soundwave soon comes up with another set of coordinates, and [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]] insists on going. Though Megatron is skeptical, recalling [[Tunnel Vision|the last time]] the doctor tried to obtain a relic, Knock Out insists he won't fail this time, and borrows Soundwave's [[Resonance Blaster]].

In the [[Autobot Outpost Omega One|Autobot base]], [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]] is likewise decoding coordinates. [[Smokescreen (Prime)|Smokescreen]] annoys everyone by boasting it is his destiny to be a great warrior and being generally exuberant. To his disappointment, when Optimus decodes a set of coordinates, [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] and [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] are the ones selected to go on the mission, and he is left at base. Arcee and Bumblebee arrive at a lakeside and spy the second [[Omega Key]] sitting out in the open, but Knock Out is already there, waiting. Using the Resonance Blaster, both Autobots are sent flying and when they try to flank the Decepticon, he shoots it at the ground, raising a cloud of dust so he can use it as cover to zap them. By the time Arcee and Bumblebee recover, Knock Out is long gone with the key.

Back on the ''[[Trypticon (Prime)|Nemesis]]'', Megatron inspects the relic and wonders if it is a decoy, though Knock Out protests the Autobots fought too desperately for it. Soundwave decodes more coordinates which Megatron believes will provide them with more answers, but when Knock Out declares to investigate, Megatron instead gives him the task of analyzing the key and its purpose. Meanwhile, Bumblebee undergoes repairs, and Smokescreen's swagger continues to get on Arcee's nerves so she goes to find some peace and quiet. Bulkhead reminds Smokescreen that the war has been going on a long time and he needs to have patience to work as a team player.

[[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]] has finished refining his [[Red Energon]], but finding it slow work and with only a small yield of a one-time use. Luckily the ''[[Harbinger]]'' computer picks up more Decepticon activity, and Starscream decides he can use the Red Energon to obtain a more valuable artifact.

The Autobots gain a new set of coordinates, and Bulkhead and Smokescreen roll out, though Arcee reminds Bulkhead to keep an eye on their eager comrade. The pair arrive on a forested mountainside where [[Dreadwing (Prime)|Dreadwing]] is waiting. The Decepticon knocks them flat before flying off, and the two Autobots realize that Dreadwing has mined the trees... '''all''' of the trees. They manage to outrun the explosions, and Bulkhead sends Smokescreen after the relic while he goads Dreadwing into a fight. As they exchange blows, Dreadwing plants a bomb on Bulkhead's back, and after Bulkhead manages to knock him flat, sets it to explode. Unfortunately for Dreadwing, Bulkhead already noticed the bomb and transferred it to his back during the fight, and though Dreadwing throws the bomb away, it goes off close enough to knock him out.

Smokescreen meanwhile uncovers the Omega Key, only to be rendered unconscious by a blow from behind. When Bulkhead wakes him, the key is already gone. Smokescreen is deflated by his failure, but as they return through the [[GroundBridge]], Bulkhead reminds him that they need all four keys to revive [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. Starscream, hiding nearby with the key he grabbed, overhears them talking, and regards the key he holds with new respect and ambition.

Back at base, Smokescreen exclaims his inability of securing the key and Arcee lectures him on realistic expectations and tells him he needs to be a team player. Upset, Smokescreen leaves the base and Optimus, saying the young Autobot needs to clear his head, returns to decoding coordinates. On the ''Nemesis'', Megatron is unhappy at Dreadwing's failure, and checks with Soundwave regarding the project to find where the Autobot base is located. Soundwave reports that he has [[Laserbeak (Prime)|Laserbeak]] scouting around [[Jasper]]. As both sides complete their decoding work, the final set of coordinates resolve into an image—a picture of Smokescreen himself, to both sides' surprise. Unfortunately when Optimus tries to call in Smokescreen, the rookie does not answer due to deactivating his comlink, and has instead fallen into Laserbeak's sights. Laserbeak fires on Smokescreen, who transforms to confront the drone, only to be knocked flat by Soundwave's Resonance Blaster. When the Autobots arrive at the location, they are just in time to see Soundwave dragging their unconscious friend back to the ''Nemesis'' through the Decepticon GroundBridge.

He was never very chatty, but these days, on Earth, he's become near silent, communicating by playing back recordings of other people's conversations. He just sneaks about, patiently looking for Autobot transmissions and creeping [[Starscream (Prime)|you]] out. Since the incapacitation of Megatron, Soundwave acts as a restraint on [[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]], reining in his rather volatile emotions, and ensuring that Starscream's less than subtle ambitions are held in check.

Soundwave was a gladiator from [[Kaon]] who almost bested [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]] in combat, an act that created mutual respect between the two. Soundwave saw in Megatron a desire to return to the swashbuckling spirit of the [[Golden Age]] of Cybertron, when Cybertronians emerged from the [[Well of All Sparks]] having to escape from the [[Underworld]]'s monsters rather than being put into a [[caste system|caste]]. He was appointed Megatron's lieutenant with [[Shockwave (Prime)|Shockwave]]. Though Megatron despised Minicons, Soundwave insisted on having them around to spy on their gladiators, including the time when Megatron's librarian friend [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Orion Pax]] came to visit. He was suspicious of Orion and even asked permission from Megatron to tail him as he returned to [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]].

After [[Decepticon]]s bombed Cybertron in Megatron's name, Soundwave sent [[Frenzy (Prime)|Frenzy]] and [[Rumble (Prime)|Rumble]] to search for the [[Matrix of Leadership]] in [[Crystal City]] (a place which design he always found self indulgent). Soundwave was not sure whether he should have bothered, as he was not superstitious and wondered what use a piece of a [[Star Saber (Prima)|broken sword]] could be. Instead he got chilling indications Crystal City's scientists were planning to revive [[Omega Supreme (WFC)|Omega Supreme]].

Soundwave attended Orion and Megatron's hearing before the [[Autobot High Council|High Council]]. During this meeting, Soundwave helped to sow discord and tension by loudly shouting his complaints over security breaches that, in truth, he himself had caused. The Council noted that they were aware someone had tried to find the Matrix, and they appointed Orion [[Prime (rank)|Prime]] and requested he find it. This tore Orion and Megatron's movement in two.

During the final days of the war, Soundwave and his minions' research changed the fate of Cybertron. It was they who found the areas of the [[DataNet]] that [[Alpha Trion (Prime)|Alpha Trion]] had overlooked and not deleted, revealing the existence of [[Dark Energon]] on [[Trypticon (Prime)|Trypticon]] Station. It was he who remembered the [[Geosynchronous Energon Bridge]] below Crystal City that allowed for the mass transportation of Dark Energon between Cybertron and Trypticon. And it was the evidence he got from Rumble and Frenzy when they infiltrated Crystal City that revealed the existence of the [[Plasma energy|Plasma Energy Chamber]] and its two [[Code Key]]s, which enabled Megatron to poison the [[Core]] of Cybertron.

When Optimus removed the Chamber from the Core, beginning the planet's slow healing process, Soundwave boarded the ''Nemesis'' with Megatron, [[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]] and [[Lugnut (WFC)|Lugnut]] to pursue the Autobot ''[[Ark (WFC)|Ark]]'' into the unknown reaches of space. {{storylink|Transformers: Exodus|Exodus}}

Soundwave regained consciousness onboard the ''Nemesis'' after emerging from the energy field created by the Space Bridge explosion over Cybertron. While Megatron demanded a status report, Soundwave was already deep at work in a console attempting to determine the answer. When a gladiator calling himself Megatronus vowed to challenge Cybertron's leadership, Soundwave was his first follower and chief amongst them. The Decepticons later arrived on [[Earth]]. During a Decepticon attack on Cliffjumper, Soundwave intercepted Arcee's comms talk. He later played it back to Starscream, prompting the Decepticon leader to send the drones after her. Shortly after Megatron left the ship on a mission, Starscream wondered aloud if Megatron had a touch of space madness, and Soundwave reminded him that their absent leader was still in charge. Starscream told him to step up global surveillance. Soundwave subsequently intercepted a transmission from [[William Fowler|Agent Fowler]] and, on Starscream's order, dispatched [[Laserbeak (Prime)|Laserbeak]] to capture the agent to learn the location of the [[Autobot Outpost Omega One|Autobot base]]. {{storylink|Darkness Rising, Part 3}} When the Autobots attacked the ''Nemesis'' to retrieve Fowler, slaughtering dozens of their soldiers, Soundwave hid. He simply watched when Megatron returned and took his fury out on Starscream on the bridge for not waiting on his command. {{storylink|Darkness Rising, Part 4}}

Starscream sent Soundwave to the [[Giant Sized Array]] radio telescope in [[Texas]] as they needed to use the array to target the space bridge at [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. Soundwave hacked into the computer network at the site, but after he had lined up the dishes, someone realigned them. In response to Starscream's demands as to what was happening, he tapped into the base's security system and discovered that the Autobots' three human friends were in a nearby room, similarly accessing the computer. He extended a tentacle into the room they were in and attacked them. When [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] tried to chop the tentacle with an ax, Soundwave took it from her and used it to sever the computer system's hardline, locking the dishes on Cybertron. The three kids entered the room in time to see him leaving, and Miko and Soundwave snapped photos of each other.

Because of Soundwave's success, the Autobots resorted to sabotaging the space bridge, blowing it up and taking Megatron with it. {{storylink|Darkness Rising, Part 5}} At Starscream's order, Soundwave activated the comm system so Starscream could give a speech to the troops, declaring himself leader. Failing to impress the Vehicons, Starscream pressed Soundwave's sensors into locating [[Skyquake (Prime)|Skyquake]], a Decepticon secreted in a pod in the desert. Starscream and Soundwave reactivated Skyquake, only to find he wasn't receptive to Starscream's leadership, and instead set about fighting [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]]. Soundwave detected a Decepticon signal from the site where the space bridge exploded, and when Starscream went to investigate, Soundwave sent Laserbeak to keep Starscream honest while he himself filmed the battle between Skyquake and Optimus and [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]]. Though the outcome of the fight was not favorable to the Decepticon cause, Soundwave was able to ensure that Starscream returned Megatron's barely-functioning body to the ''Nemesis''. {{storylink|Masters & Students}}

Soundwave intercepted a transmission from [[Wheeljack (Prime)|Wheeljack]] who was heading for Earth. At Starscream's order, he downloaded the necessary information to [[Makeshift (Prime)|Makeshift]], who took on Wheeljack's form and infiltrated the Autobot base. As Starscream and Soundwave paid a visit to the captive Wheeljack, Soundwave prevented his leader from terminating their prisoner, as he might be of use later. The two 'Cons retired to the ship's top deck to wait for Makeshift to activate the [[GroundBridge]], however Wheeljack broke free and started trashing the Vehicons. When Wheeljack escaped through the ground bridge and sent back Makeshift with his grenade activated, Soundwave and Starscream made sure to get well clear before he exploded. {{storylink|Con Job}} During another Autobot operation, Soundwave listened in on their comm chatter, prompting Starscream to send some Vehicons to attack. {{storylink|Convoy (episode)|Convoy}}

When [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]] mentioned seeing an [[Energon Harvester]] in a fresco in [[Greece]], Soundwave was able to track the device's location to a museum. Breakdown and [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]] kept the Autobots busy in front of the museum while Soundwave sneaked in the back. He ran into [[Raf Esquivel|Raf]] and [[Jack Darby|Jack]], who were already in the process of stealing the Harvester, and grabbed it from them before making a getaway in his vehicle mode. {{storylink|Deus ex Machina}}

Starscream and Knock Out made a concerted attempt to convince Soundwave that Megatron was beyond saving, and that the only option left to them was euthanasia. Soundwave remained skeptical, and pointed out the patch cable that Arcee and Bumblebee was using to access Megatron's brain. Megatron's life support was damaged during the ensuing confusion, and though it seemed Starscream and Knock Out were content to leave Megatron flat-lining, Soundwave pressured them into reconnecting the cable sustaining their master. {{storylink|Sick Mind}}

After Megatron's resurrection, Soundwave kept him informed regarding Starscream's activities, including his attempt to resurrect Skyquake with the Dark Energon shard ripped from Megatron's chest, and the loss of his arm. {{storylink|Shadowzone (episode)|Shadowzone}} Soundwave watched as Breakdown was captured by [[MECH]], and reported back to Starscream. Megatron and Starscream headed to a stripped Energon Mine to discover mining drills still there. Starscream attempted to blame this on Soundwave. When the new Decepticon space bridge was nearing completion, Soundwave supplied a diagram of the last component they needed. When Airachnid announced Megatron wasn't coming back and ordered the ship to [[Regulon Four]], Soundwave decided it was time to lay down the law. He defied Airachnid, who angrily attacked him, but the Decepticon spy master quickly proceeded to defeat Airachnid. Upon Unicron's defeat, Soundwave detected Megatron's signal and activated the GroundBridge, bowing in respect with the other Decepticons as Megatron entered the bridge of the ship. He had to hold Breakdown back when they saw that Megatron was accompanied by Optimus Prime. {{storylink|One Shall Rise, Part 3}}

With Optimus amnesiac and believing himself to be archivist Orion Pax, Soundwave made sure the ship's [[data core]] was clear of any incriminating evidence so Orion could be put to work decrypting information they'd stolen from the Iacon archives. When Arcee managed to get on board the ship to look for the lost Autobot leader, Soundwave made deft use of the GroundBridge to get her back off before Orion could see her. {{storylink|Orion Pax, Part 1}} When Orion eventually learned the truth, Soundwave relayed the news to Megatron. {{storylink|Orion Pax, Part 2}} He also notified Megatron when activity was detected on Cybertron, indicating that the Autobots had gone there in an attempt to help Optimus. {{storylink|Orion Pax, Part 3}}

Soundwave continued to try to decode more data from the Iacon archives, in a continuation of Orion Pax's work. When Airachnid requested Megatron's approval to take point in the hunt for the relics, Megatron requested that Soundwave remind him of her previous words when she planned to abandon him. Later, after Dreadwing and Breakdown's failure to execute her, Soundwave began tracing Airachnid's location during her communication to the ''Nemesis'' for Megatron. {{storylink|Crossfire}}

After the ''Nemesis'' crashed, Soundwave reviewed security footage and discovered that Bulkhead had been the one to cause it. Megatron brought it back online using Dark Energon, though the ship's guiding intelligence proved uncontrollable by the Decepticons. He was on the ''Nemesis'' bridge when Knock Out left to find the first of the four relics decoded by the ship. {{storylink|Tunnel Vision}} Dispatched to find the third relic, Soundwave encountered the ''[[Jackhammer (Prime)|Jackhammer]]'' and used Laserbeak as a distraction. He soon uncovered the [[Resonance Blaster]], only to be attacked by [[Wheeljack (Prime)|Wheeljack]]. Though the Autobot managed to crack his visor, Soundwave triumphed, and was only stopped from dispatching Wheeljack by an SOS from Laserbeak. He picked up Laserbeak and returned to the ''Nemesis'', where Knock Out discovered a grenade implanted in the deployer. Once the offending item was removed, Soundwave returned to his work decrypting the Iacon database, unaware that the Autobots had also implanted a virus in Laserbeak, which passed into the computer and began transmitting the database to the Autobots' mainframe. {{storylink|Triage}} He returned to the bridge to listen to Megatron complain about how ineffective everyone else was, and watched [[Hardshell]] and Knock Out argue. {{storylink|Hurt}}

When [[Silas|Cylas]] came to the Decepticons with the offer of a [[Project Damocles]] satellite, Soundwave was sent to a military base in [[Colorado]] to get the codes so they could control the satellite from the ''Nemesis''. He hacked into the computer, giving him the ability to use the satellite even as he was downloading the codes for it, but failed to stop Raf from knocking the satellite out of orbit. When Megatron returned from victory, he told Soundwave, in great detail, how he had destroyed the Star Saber with his own blade. He soon had two more sets of coordinates downloaded, resulting in Knock Out securing an [[Omega Key]]. Soundwave took control of the orbital station [[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]] was posted at, helping [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]] to reach the [[Dark Energon]] by establishing a forward base within the station. He then directed Megatron to a Data Matrix Center in order to find a route to the Dark Energon that had not been blocked by Starscream.

Later, Soundwave notified Megatron that access to the core was impossible, as it was guarded by the Omega Gate. He and [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]] accompanied Megatron as they led the assault on [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]], through which they would find and take the [[Omega Key]], opening the Omega Gate and allowing the core to be infused with Dark Energon. On their way to the [[Stellar Galleries]], Soundwave reported [[sniper (WFC)|sniper]]s, and after taking them down, Megatron infused the entrance with Dark Energon and took his team into the security station. Soundwave noticed that the batteries fed the security grid, and the trio infused each of them with Dark Energon, deactivating the security measures. Soundwave then detected the Omega Key behind their next door, and after opening it, the Decepticons arrived at the Stellar Galleries. They opened the container, finding not the key, but a message from [[Sentinel Zeta Prime|Zeta Prime]], who announced that he had taken the Omega Key, anticipating Megatron's plan. Zeta sent Autobot attack forces against them, but they were swiftly taken down. Megatron ordered Soundwave to trace Zeta Prime's broadcast, and Soundwave found it came from 12.7 cycles ahead. He then noted a weak wall, and the Decepticons broke it down and entered the cities' subsystems, providing a direct route to Zeta, and the Omega Key.

The group descended down a shaft and went through a tunnel, avoiding trains on the way, and after breaking down a door in a ventilation area, they were ambushed by Autobot cloakers. Soundwave dispatched them and infused Dark Energon into the batteries. Megatron congratulated him, and then ordered him to unlock the exit. Soundwave obliged, and the trio found themselves in another tunnel. Breakdown challenged Soundwave to a race, to which the Decepticon responded, in his trademark monotone, "Negative." Tough crowd. Rushing through the tunnel, this time full of moving trains, the group came to a station where they infiltrated Iacon's lower levels. Soundwave detected the Omega Key at last, and suggested proceeding through the logistics station. Roughing it through the Autobot attackers, Soundwave finally determined that the key was beyond the train tunnels.

Soundwave and his teammates arrived at Iacon's main streets, where they met up with [[Brawl (WFC)|Brawl]] outside of Zeta Prime's vaults, which were impervious to the small amount of Dark Energon Megatron was capable of channeling. After Megatron's squad helped Brawl clear the area, Brawl called in the Dark Energon bombers, but they were spectacularly shot down by the planetary guns. Brawl suggested disabling them, and Soundwave assisted in carrying out the plan. Autobots advanced all around, but Soundwave and the others managed to hold them off until the next wave of bombers arrived, clearing the street and destroying the Vault doors. Soundwave joined the others on their way to the entrance, but the squad was intercepted by a [[Destroyer (WFC)|Destroyer]]. Soundwave and Breakdown split from Megatron to flank him, and eventually they rendered him non-functional. Inside the vault, they avoided Zeta's traps and finally reached the Omega Key—but it too was a trap. Zeta then attacked them, using a giant hologram and controlling the chamber to his advantage, dropping the ceiling and sending holographic brutes to attack for him while safe within an impenetrable energy shield. (Even during the battle, Soundwave was impressed by the creation of endless energon clones, to which Breakdown responded, roughly, "NERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRD!") Soundwave's dorkiness proved useful in discerning the weakness of Zeta's machines—that the core rapidly overheated after prolonged use, and needed to open up in order to cool, rendering it vulnerable to attack. After the battle, Megatron plucked from Zeta's hand the "key"...which started to blink its lights and chirp. Zeta Prime informed them that the "key" he was actually a device that activated the real key: [[Omega Supreme (WFC)|Omega Supreme]].

As the three Decepticons flew away to track Omega, Soundwave noticed that the "key" was coming for them. Omega Supreme attacked, and thrust the Decepticons' star cruiser into a wall. Crash-landing, Megatron had a change of plans; force Omega Supreme to open the Omega Gate. Soundwave noticed a [[Decepticon Drop Ship]] across the bridge, but when the squad went to investigate, Omega Supreme intercepted them. Soundwave reported that his weapons were ineffective; Megatron told his soldiers to destroy the bridge supports, causing Omega Supreme's vast bulk to collapse it. But he transformed to his ship mode, flew back up, and forced the Decepticons to retreat inside. In a frenzy, Breakdown noted that the next door was locked, and Soundwave proposed that Dark Energon could open the door, which it did. Inside, Soundwave picked up a transmission from Starscream, who announced that he would be replacing the "deceased" Megatron as Decepticon leader. Enraged, Megatron threatened Starscream, but Soundwave informed his leader that communication to the surface had been cut off, so Starscream could not hear him.

The trio arrived at the lift, but found it to be locked down. Breaking the locks got the lift back to working condition, but on their way up, Omega Supreme returned and blasted it, forcing the Decepticons down the shaft at breakneck speed. Omega was still out there, so the emergency brakes' destruction was the Decepticons' only hope. At the bottom, they continued their journey to find a way to fight Omega Supreme—Soundwave noted that at the top of the tower were several heavy weapons emplacements which could at least theoretically damage Omega—but Omega Supreme didn't know the meaning of the word quit. (He really doesn't; not much in the processor department.) He grabbed the Decepticons, but Soundwave helped out in shooting Omega Supreme's hand, forcing him relinquishing the three from his grasp. They retreated inside a fortified Autobot position, and in order to prevent detection, Soundwave jammed their signals. Slaying the Autobots inside who dared attempt to counterattack, Soundwave unlocked the exit, which only let in more Autobots. They too, met their demise, but as Soundwave and his comrades escaped, he noticed that the Autobots' security was countering the effects of Dark Energon. Destroying the sentries turned to be a worthwhile solution, but then the Decepticons had to deal with Omega Supreme mining road. Soundwave's sensors indicated the presence of a bridge nearby, and though Breakdown was unsure, Megatron was willing to follow Soundwave's advice. Once again, Omega Supreme continued to stalk them, but Soundwave led his group to an alternate route...a dead end, to be precise, which Megatron was irritated with. Soundwave revealed that breaking a structurally-weak sealed doorway nearby took them to Iacon maintenance tunnels leading straight to the bridge terminal. When they arrived through the power conduits, Soundwave and the others fought through more Autobots and finally activated the bridge.

Racing across the bridge, they barely avoided Omega Supreme's pursuit, and Soundwave located another cargo lift that would transport them straight to the heavy ion turrets. On the lift he picked up several Autobot/Decepticon signals, a sign they were approaching the battle on the surface. Soundwave participated in the slugfest, and his analysis proved that the turrets nearby had enough firepower to legitimately damage Omega Supreme. Then, he showed no mercy using the turrets to breach Omega's armour and finally topple him to the ground below.

Soundwave, Breakdown, and Megatron followed Omega, and at the bottom, they were surprised to see him survive and transform into his mighty robot mode. Soundwave noted that energon batteries produced from within Cybertron were the source of Omega's limitless endurance, and further advised the team on battling Omega; avoiding his tractor beams would allow them to live, and his turrets were vulnerable, making them the prime target. When the turrets were blown, Soundwave saw that the batteries were being used to repair them, and so it became an objective to corrupt them with Dark Energon. When Omega Supreme used the batteries to heal himself, he was instead weakened, allowing the Decepticons to critically injure him. Omega Supreme was still alive even after all of that, but much weaker. Soundwave observed that his chest plating had been damaged, and Megatron ordered Soundwave and Breakdown to blast it, and Omega Supreme fell at last. Soundwave advised Megatron that now would be a good time to corrupt Omega with Dark Energon, but Megatron told Captain Obvious to shut up and did as he would have done even if Soundwave hadn't brought it up, laughing all the way.

After Cybertron's Core had been infected with Dark Energon, Soundwave was reassigned as head of [[Kaon]]'s prison, and watched over (i.e., tortured) Zeta Prime in his spare time. [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus]], [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]], [[Sideswipe (WFC)|Sideswipe]] and [[Air Raid (WFC)|Air Raid]] led an Autobot breakout and battled Soundwave's minions [[Frenzy (Prime)|Frenzy]], [[Rumble (Prime)|Rumble]] and [[Laserbeak (Prime)|Laserbeak]]. Soundwave himself sustained heavy damage leaving the safety of his position to revive and retrieve each Minicon, showing uncharaceristic concern for other living beings. Eventually, defeated and critically damaged, Soundwave desperately attempted to restore himself by absorbing life force from Zeta's very own spark. His attempt to fully heal was halted by Optimus, who even took a shot from the Decepticon intended to finish off Prime. Though Megatron was confident they could ram the station, Soundwave turned out to be right, and they could only get close enough to drop a small team off on the debris surrounding the station. When the station was conquered and Dark Energon in Megatron's hands, Soundwave suggested it might be a good idea to test the stuff prior to use. It turned out to be unstable, and he warned it could result in destruction of its host. The Decepticons set up Kaon Prison as a testing ground and, after eleven failures, established that the Dark Energon could be used. When Barricade asked what happened to the failures, Soundwave would only say that their remains laid in the prison and creepily ask Barricade to get in the chair so he too could be infused with Dark Energon.

Trypticon station required more power, so the Decepticons sent a team to Cybertron's core to reactivate the Energon Bridge. Soundwave did not anticipate the activation of latent defense systems, triggered by the Decepticon presence, because he hadn't studied the same ancient files as Starscream. Megatron ordered Soundwave to give Starscream whatever he needed, and they succeeded in activating the bridge. Soundwave reported that they were only at 37% power — the Autobots had severed the bridge's link to the core using the Omega Key. Lazerbeak intercepted an Autobot transmission indicating that Zeta Prime was hiding the Omega Key, and Megatron ordered Soundwave to assemble a strike force to obtain it. They managed to find and defeat the Autobot leader, but the Omega Key he had was only the key to awaken the real key — Omega Supreme. Once the Decepticons fought their way through the Autobot defenses, Soundwave reported they had reached Omega Supreme himself. All was going well until the Stunticons were abruptly assaulted in mid-rehearsal by [[Cheetor (Animated)|Cheetor]], who opened fire on the disguised Decepticons. Once the Autobot cop settled down, the rehearsal continued. Drag Strip reluctantly played the role of a damsel in distress, cornered by three Decepticons, unsuccessfully rescued by Toxitron, but then truly rescued by the appearance of a great big holographic [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel Magnus]] head.

On the night of the plan's execution, Sideswipe and Cheetor returned in the middle of the show, having worked out the Stunticons' plan. The Stunticons fought back with their stolen modifications, with [[Dead End (Animated)|Dead End]] and Drag Strip cornering Cheetor. The two cop-bots were cornered, but Toxitron leapt into the fray, knocking out the structural supports for a giant ramp and sending it crashing down on the Stunticons. Toxitron turned out to actually be a disguised [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]], who revealed their plan to everyone watching. The massive, peg-legged leader of the Star Seekers and Captain of the ''[[Tidal Wave (Prime)|Tidal Wave]]'', Thundertron claims to be "the mightiest freebooter on the spaceways". Aside from being a merciless pirate, the destruction of his home-world by Cybertronians has given him an unquenchable hatred and a desire for revenge. He vows to hunt down and slaughter any who come from Cybertron, and is equally brutal with anyone else who would get in his way.

Sensing the energy trail of a [[Ark (WFC)|Cybertronian ship]], Thundertron had his ship land on [[Velocitron]]. He quickly questioned [[Override (Prime)|the planet's leader]] if there were any Cybertronians there. She said there were none, but the leader's refusal to divulge where they were, her insolence in asking the fault of being Cybertronian, and [[Ransack (Prime)|her rival]]'s insistence that she was Cybertronian quickly made Thundertron lose his temper and ordered his crew to attack.

Following the energy trail, they traveled through a [[space bridge]] to [[Junkion (planet)|Junkion]], where he found not only the Cybertronian ship, but [[Trypticon (Prime)|another]]. While the Cybertronians were fighting each other, Thundertron met with the [[Wreck-Gar (Prime)|leader]] of the [[Junkion (species)|locals]]. He quickly forced the Junkions to repair his ship and attach a space bridge to it. He had [[Cannonball (Prime)|two]] [[Brimstone (Prime)|crew members]] show the Junkions they meant business by killing [[Arclight|one of them]]. :Part of the fourth wave of ''[[Transformers: Prime (toyline)#Robots in Disguise (2012)|Prime: Robots in Disguise'']] Voyager Class toys, Thundertron converts from a robotic lion to a peg-legged space pirate and back! He features an incredibly long [[Facial hair|beard]] and looks like he's [[Transformer clothing|wearing a long-coat]], with the latter being due to the beast mode "wings" on his robot waist and the coattail-shaped panel on his back. He also features translucent plastic, such as his back and forearms/beast-mode forelegs, to accommodate his weapon's light-up [[gimmick]].

:For accessories, he has a short-bladed claw which is pegged (via [[5mm post|5mm peg-hole]]) into his peg-leg, and serves as his right robot mode and rear-right beast mode foot. He also has a long-bladed claw that's mounted on a translucent base consisting of a clear-blue sword blade and a lever. When said lever is pulled, the blade swings all the way around to the front, and a red LED at the bottom turns on and swings up, transforming the claw into a "Battle sword", and illuminating the sword blade as a sort of "[[Energon]] glow". Either accessory can peg into his hands, forearms, robot and beast back, and into either side of his "wings". Additionally, the light-up weapon features a peg-hole on either side of the lever.

:In order for him to fit in the box, he is often mis-transformed in-[[Packaging|package]], with his chest panels not being opened, and his crest, "coattail", and pelvis being left in their beast-mode positions. His package-back also features a call-out to his static snap-on claw/right foot accessory, but it incorrectly points to his ''claw/sword'' accessory instead. Additionally, his [[stock photography]] depicts additional [[paint operation]]s not present in the final product, such as silver paint for most of his robot feet/beast hind-feet, and gold paint for the lower half of his peg-leg.
