==Synopsis==
At the beginning of all time and space, [[multiverse|multiple universes]] came into being, products of the mysterious omnipotent [[Creator (Cloud)|Creator]]. Seeking a means of maintaining order in the infinite worlds it had created, the Creator selected a universe known as "[[Cloud World]]", and dispatched to it a robot emissary named [[SARA]], who would help the inhabitants of this world keep the peace across the multiverse. The Transformers of the Cloud World welcomed SARA and embraced the task the Creator asked of them; the robot opened [[Dimension gate|dimensional gate]]s to allow the Transformers to travel all across the multiverse, and in return, they gathered surplus energy from a myriad of sources in different universes for her, providing her with the power she required to function. In time, SARA evolved into a super-robot lifeform, complete with transformation abilities, and adopted a female form. Recognizing SARA's importance, the [[Autobot]]s of the city of [[Metropolis]] attempted to keep her existence a secret, but this could not last forever. As knowledge of SARA and her power spread, malcontents emerged who would misuse her power; banished from Metropolis, these exiles were consigned to "[[Underground (Cloud)|Underground]]", a subterranean realm where [[Megatron (G1)|one among them]] began plotting revenge...

[[Optimus Prime (G1)#Cloud|Optimus Prime]] oversees activities at the Autobots' headquarters in [[Metropolis]], as status updates come in from multiple [[universal stream|universes]]. [[Wheeljack (G1)#Cloud|Wheeljack]] reports a small disturbance in the "33-HM Spacetime", so Prime has [[Ironhide (G1)#Cloud|Ironhide]] dispatch [[Bumblebee (G1)#Cloud|Bumblebee]] to get the situation under control before it poses a danger to the universe's inhabitants. Optimus notes that they have not yet received their report from [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rodimus]], who has been investigating the "24-BW Spacetime", and while Wheeljack tries to get in touch with him, Ironhide announces that he is ready to go after the youngster and help him finish his job properly. Though amused at the prospect, Optimus reminds Ironhide and Wheeljack that their surveillance duties are just as important the jobs being carried out by the 'bots out in the field, as both tasks are key to retrieving the surplus universal energy [[SARA]] needs to function. Though the two 'bots return to their work with increased vigor, Prime himself is secretly worried, recalling the trouble caused in the past by another Transformer, now banished to the subterranean [[Underground (Cloud)|Underground]]...

In Underground, that very Transformer, [[Megatron (G1)#Cloud|Megatron]] holds a rally in the central plaza, whipping the exiles and outcasts into a frenzy, calling for them to rise up against the Autobots of Metropolis to claim the power of SARA and her rich flow of energy for themselves. Watching the speech from the shadows at the side of the stage, [[Starscream (G1)#Cloud|Starscream]] compliments his leader on his speech, but Megatron, aware of the ulterior motives that Starscream's flattery hides, dismisses his words and turns his attention back to the crowd. At Megatron's order, the newly-christened "[[Decepticon]]s" transform and head for Metropolis!

The youthful [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rodimus]] returns to [[Metropolis]] after completion of his energy gathering task in the 24-BW Spacetime, tired but satisfied that his job has been done. Though he appreciates that Rodimus is exhausted, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] insists on a proper explanation from the young 'bot on why he is late in returning; Rodimus explains that a brief disturbance in time and space delayed his mission. Just as Prime is reminding Rodimus on the importance of the energy they gather for [[SARA]], their headquarters is shaken by an explosion and alarms begin blaring. [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] reports that the third district of Metropolis has come under attack by airborne intruders staging a bombing run on the city, leaving Optimus staggered by the very notion of an attack after so many years of peace. Footage of the ongoing attack allows the Autobots to identify the leader of the attackers as [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], who they know to have been exiled to [[Underground (Cloud)|Underground]]—a revelation that leads Optimus to suspect he knows who is ''really'' behind the attack.

Just as Rodimus petitions Optimus to let him join in the effort to repel these invaders, a second alarm sounds, alerting them to an attack on the seventh district of the city by even more enemies, who have ambushed [[Brawn (G1)|Brawn]]. Alarm after alarm begins to go off and more and more regions of the city come under simultaneous attack; Optimus issues orders to Ratchet to disseminate Autobot forces appropriately across the city, then instructs the infuriated Rodimus to and prepare the defenses of their own sector. His tiredness forgotten, Rodimus transforms and heads off, while Prime turns his attention back to the monitors. Spotting a familiar form in the footage from the thirteenth sector, he has Ratchet enhance the image, and is greeting with the sight of a huge silver tank single-handedly devastating the area. Prime has Ratchet cross-reference the tank's energy signature with the database of criminals and exiles banished from Metropolis, identifying it as "Political Prisoner X-86"—also known as [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]! His suspicions as to the mastermind confirmed, Optimus hefts his favourite gun and heads out to confront his old enemy.

''Once, in times past, [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] worked alongside [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], using the power of [[SARA]] to maintain order throughout space and time. The two often clashed on the best way to accomplish their goals; Optimus wanted only to use SARA to bring peace, but Megatron sought to use her powers to obtain ''control'' over the [[multiverse]]. Eventually, when the schism between the two grew too wide to overcome, Megatron gathered those who believed in his vision together beneath him, and they staged a rebellion. Defeated by Optimus's side—though only just—Megatron and his [[Decepticon]]s were banished to the [[Underground (Cloud)|Underground]] beneath [[Metropolis]]. Now, they have returned...''

As Megatron tears through Metropolis, [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] arrives to cheerfully report the success of his and [[Thundercracker (G1)|Thundercracker]]'s attack on their designated sector of the city. Having always considered Starscream a nuisance at the best of times, Megatron quickly tires of his unique mix of flattery and boastful swaggering, and orders him to get back to the post he has abandoned, as the Autobots will be exploiting his absence to organize a counterattack. Before the faltering Starscream can compose himself enough to go on his way, however, Optimus Prime appears to challenge his old enemy. The pair share a little trash talk, but Starscream has no tolerance for their war of words and interrupts with a volley of missiles. Prime skilfully dodges every one, closing in on Starscream as he weaves through them, and clobbering the Decepticon flier. Megatron orders Starscream away and leaps in to engage Prime, though the fight between the two is slow to truly begin as the two opponents silently size each other up, tensely waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Abruptly, a nearby explosion breaks the silence, distracting the two. A split-second later, Megatron is seemingly the first to recover and uses the opening provided to lunge at Prime with this sword—except Prime has already exploited the distraction to transform to [[alternate mode|vehicle mode]], causing Megatron to misjudge his strike and miss. He quickly shifts back to robot form and opens fire on his enemy, but Megatron accomplishes the impressive task of ''slicing the laser beam with his sword'', refracting it into a shower of laser shards that rain down on the hapless Starscream off in the distance. The two foes continue to fight at close quarters; Optimus is forced to use his blaster to intercept a sword slash from Megatron, embedding the blade in the gun and costing both opponents their weapons, but they merely continue to fight hand-to-hand. Optimus eventually begins to weaken in the face of Megatron's attack, and falls to his knees, but as Megatron looms over him and prepares to deliver a killing blow, Prime transforms the energy unit on his back into a cannon and fires off a single blast. Unfortunately for the Autobot, Megatron has a second, smaller sword, and proves just as able to slice the blast with it as he was with this larger sword. The pair break apart and try to gather themselves for further combat, but just then, [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] radios Optimus with distressing news: while they have been battling, the Decepticons have abducted SARA!

''[[SARA]] first came to [[Cloud World]] as a spherical "core" containing her essence. Her true form has since been hidden away, and she has been performing her duties as via a "Sparkbot" avatar.''

[[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] is still reeling from [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]]'s news; the shock of learning that SARA has been taken by the Decepticons has sent him into shock. [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] takes the opportunity to contact his agent handling SARA's abduction, [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]], making sure to speak loud enough for Optimus to hear. Shockwave confirms that his mission has been completed, and Megatron sounds a retreat, his objective having been met. [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] tries to convince Megatron to stay behind and "settle old scores," but Megatron is wise to Starscream's scheme. The Decepticon leader has previously learned that Starscream planned to take control of SARA for himself, and is now trying to eliminate the Decepticon leader before SARA is in his grasp. Both Megatron and Starscream take flight, leaving Optimus utterly broken by his defeat. Eventually finding his senses, Optimus contacts Ratchet and orders the Autobots to meet back at their headquarters.

Back at the Directorate of Operations, Ratchet goes over the events that led to SARA's abduction. He explains that Decepticons had lain in waiting, and seized the opportunity to infiltrate the city's center when Optimus dispatched troops to each district. Though garrisons attempted to fend the invaders back, the Decepticons overpowered them. One of the guards, [[Skids (G1)|Skids]], steps forth to personally apologize for his failure. But Optimus takes the blame onto himself, admitting that he should have analyzed the situation more fully before formulating a strategy. [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rodimus]] pitches in as well, bemoaning the fact that none of them even suspected that the large-scale destruction was merely a diversion on the Decepticons' part. The Autobots begin to panic, with [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]] exclaiming that the balance of their world is now in immediate danger. Optimus calms them down, explaining that while their power reserves hold, they have a few days to retrieve SARA. [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]], bewildered that getting SARA back could even be a possibility, asks Optimus how he plans to retrieve her. The answer is simple: Optimus plans a counter-invasion on the [[Underground (Cloud)|Underground]]. But the Autobots' skepticism isn't dispelled by their leader's announcement. [[Brawn (G1)|Brawn]] points out that the Underground is a dangerous and unmapped area. Optimus assures him that they will be able to track SARA's energy signature to her location, but the Autobots remain jittery. Only after Optimus suggests he goes alone into the Underground that first Hot Rodimus, then the rest of the Autobots find their courage, unwilling to abandon their beloved leader to a terrible fate.

Brawn then approaches Optimus, demanding to be allowed to join the rescue operation. Optimus at first declines, seeing as Brawn was among the Autobots who suffered severe damage during the attack. But Brawn insists, and Optimus can't find it himself to bar Brawn from the mission, so great is the minibot's fervor and determination. The Autobots now prepared for the dangers to come, Optimus issues the order... ROLL OUT!

==Synopsis==
[[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]] leads a group of Autobots on a raid on a decrepit building, in which they've detected [[SARA]]'s energy signature. As [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]] takes its occupants by surprise, [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] whines that [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] is never around when the Decepticons ''really'' need him. But just as the Decepticons had done when they attacked [[Metropolis]], Jazz's team are actually diverting their enemies' attention from a secondary strike force.

[[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rodimus]] and [[Brawn (G1)|Brawn]] are underground, bypassing the scuffle above them to reach the Decepticons' inner sanctum. Optimus has tracked SARA's location to a nearby room. The trio charge in, only to find Megatron having wired SARA to his own body! The Autobots are taken aback by this development, and inform Megatron that if he is to drain all of SARA's energy into himself, the Cloud World will collapse, killing all of his subordinates. Megatron scoffs at the Autobots' concerns, roaring that the fate of the Cloud World matters not to him. With SARA's power, he plans to ascend as the ruler of all space-time! As Optimus realizes the true extent of Megatron's madness, the Decepticon sends Hot Rodimus and Brawn flying with a surge of energy.

Megatron next reveals that he intends to travel to the "[[OG World]]," from where all other universes were birthed, and to conquer it as his first step towards absolute supremacy. Optimus checks on his troops; Hot Rodimus has been knocked out, and Brawl is barely conscious himself. Knowing that he is the only one who can stop Megatron, Optimus transforms and rams into him. Upon impact, the flow of SARA's energy is disrupted. Optimus drifts into unconsciousness...

...And awakens to the sound of [[Ratchet (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Ratchet]]'s voice. Looking around, Optimus sees that he is in an organic forest, surrounded by strange faces. The one who sounds like Ratchet looks different than the Autobot he knows, and appears to have a much milder disposition. Thankfully, Optimus at least understands the strangers. Among the group, Optimus also spots a [[Wheeljack (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Wheeljack]] lookalike, and the truth dawns on him: he has been sent across dimensions, and is meeting the local counterparts to his team. In the group is Optimus's own doppelgänger, the [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] of OG001! Ratchet begins to repair "Cloud Optimus" while [[Ironhide (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Ironhide]] warns his teammates that the newcomer might be a Decepticon spy. "G1 Optimus" informs the dimensional visitor that the Autobots were able to find him thanks to his companion. Cloud Optimus is puzzle by the figure G1 Optimus is pointing to: a small, robotic girl. Before he can make heads or tail of the humanoid, the Autobots come under attack from the local [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]], lured to their location by a large energy reading. Though normally the residents of Cloud World would not intervene in other dimensions' conflicts, circumstances leave Cloud Optimus no choice in the matter. G1 Optimus Prime thanks Cloud Optimus Prime for his support, though he tells him he expects an explanation for his appearance later. The two Optimuses fire their blasters just as "G1 Megatron" fires his [[fusion cannon]]. The massive, six-armed '''Lord Imperious Delirious''' is the leader of the [[Destructon]]s. At one time, his sole purpose was to be a living time capsule, the safe repository of the recorded memory engrams of an entire species.... but at some point, all of the minds, lives, and dreams lovingly archived within him united and achieved a collective awareness and purpose, creating the uniquely menacing mechanical warlord that Imperious is today. With uncountable lifetimes worth of knowledge preprogrammed into him, Imperious is a master of all scientific and technical disciplines, and can "see" through enough of his in-built memories that he effortlessly understands the desires and weaknesses of all lesser beings around him - because whatever they want, part of Imperious Delirious has already been there, done that.

His "Delirious Fire" attack overwhelms and subjugates lesser beings by using the power of all the mental energies available to him to override their senses and plunge them into inescapable hallucinations. It can also just plain break stuff, too.

He has the most awesomely ridiculous name in the history of the universe. And he knew you'd think so.

Lord Imperious Delirious and his Destructons were confined by the [[Logicon]]s millions of years ago within a "dimensional barrier" on an unnamed planet, powered by twin spires.

When an [[Andegea]]n science party discovered the spires, Lord Imperious Delirious managed to get a message out to them, pleading for their fellow peace-lovers (''cough cough'') to release them by destroying one of the spires. The Andegeans were attacked by their enemies, the [[Kalkar (species)|Kalkar]], who killed the lead scientist, [[Charc Dulth]]. Lord Imperious Delirious promised that he and his allies would destroy the Andegeans' enemies if they were free, and in desperation, an Andegean named [[Doza]] destroyed one of the spires. In gratitude, the Destructons destroyed the Kalkar... and Lord Imperious Delirious personally annihilated Doza.

Later, [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]]'s party, while searching for [[Metascan Alpha]] and the Logicons, ran across the Destructons attacking another (unnamed) planet. Ultra Magnus engaged Lord Imperious Delirious, but fell before the Delirious Fire and called for a retreat. Kup, however, stayed behind, distracting the Destructons and ensuring the Autobots' (brief) escape. The Destructons followed and ran across [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] and the [[Terrorcon (G1)|Terrorcons]], who had also been following Magnus's crew. Imperious Delirious was the product of [[Gorlam Prime]]'s civilization, a singularity that emerged once the organic inhabitants had uploaded their minds into a lunar database. Immediately after attaining sentience, Lord Imperious Delirious awoke and disposed of whatever remained of the planet's organic inhabitants. Some time later, Lord Imperious Delirious shot down a Cybertronian prison shuttle on route to the penal colony of [[Elba]]. {{storylink|Intersectionality}} Though his initial plan was to scavenge energy and spare parts, upon realizing [[Transmutate (character)|Trans-Mutate]] and [[Rampage (BW)|Protoform X]] had survived the crash he was quite willing to add them to his misfit crusader band, and so sent Bruton and Medusa to collect them. {{storylink|Kindred}}

Imperious at first played the caring host to his guests, recharging them, flattering them, and playing to their sense of sympathy and justice. But when Trans-Mutate caught him lying, he ended the charade and unleashed his Delirious Fire to mentally warp them into proper loyal vassals. {{storylink|Delirious}} Though suitably tortured, the pair were able to come together to resist Delirious' will and Trans-Mutate's power blew him backwards into a wall. After the pair sliced through Bruton and Medusa, Delirious prevented [[Psychokhan]] from moving in to attack as well, instead sending a distress call to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], taking his Destructons and leaving the pair on the planet. It wasn't a complete loss—Delirious had taken the [[navicomp]] from Trans-Mutate's stasis pod, and broke the security on it so that he could access its reformatting protocols. {{storylink|Clarity}}

Using the reformatting protocols, Delirious gave his Destructon underlings alternate modes, with Delirious choosing an imposing dragon for his own. Afterward, the Destructons tried getting into the [[Allowed Zone]], only to be rebuffed by the [[Confederated Terran Colonial Fleet]] vessel ''[[Spooky Action at a Distance]]''. Delirious changed tack, waiting for the next Cybertronian ship to come and pick up the runaway Trans-Mutate and Rampage, so they could be shot down and give Delirious a free ticket past the humans. This came in the form of the ''Dinosaur''.

The ship sent down a shuttle, and once the crew were away from it, Delirious and Bruton tried to gain access, only for the Predacons to return with Rampage. Imperious watched as Bruton held them off, only for him to fall, which prompted Delirious to get involved personally, taking out Rampage at the cost of one arm. He tried smooth-talking the security officer Hard Head, only for that to change when the Predacon locked him out of the shuttle. Despite Delirious' best efforts, he could not break the lockdown, so after dealing with the others, he took Hard Head away.

Imperious was aware, thanks to his fellow Destructon Medusa being aboard the ''Dinosaur'', that the Cybertronian ship was going to crash onto the planet, most likely before he could crack the shuttle's codes. So he offered the Predacon the chance of giving him the codes before the ship crashed. Hard Head refused, so Delirious moved on to his real plan: Carve out Hard Head's spark and install Bruton into his corpse. On stepping outside, the two Destructons fought with the Predacons and Maximal again, Delirious unveiling his draconic alt-mode, until eventually he tired and had Bruton unlock the ship. On doing so, he left his muscle behind to die.

As he was taking off, Rampage returned, startling Delirious enough he was unable to pilot the ship. The two fought, until Rampage used his Galva-conductors. The surge of electricity was enough to paralyze Delirious long enough for Rampage to tear off his head. With that, his lifeless body plummeted away. But that was not the end of Delirious, as he had managed to upload himself into the shuttle's computer core, with the crew none the wiser. {{storylink|Intersectionality}}

The data packet that contained Delirious' consciousness returned to a wartorn Cybertron in the midst of the [[Grand Uprising]]. Still planning his destruction of the Cybertronian race, the incorporeal Second-Born Intellect began manipulating events so that the Transformers would engineer their own demise — a turn of events that Delirious considered appropriate. After locating a group of [[Monster GoBot|dimension-hopping cyborgs]] hiding out on the planet, he fed them information on the [[Rosetta Stone]] in the hopes of provoking the attention of the [[Human Confederacy]], who would sterilize Cybertron for him. The plan was foiled by the [[Ex-Bot]]s; though none of them knew of his influence, a frustrated Delirious retreated to plan anew. {{storylink|Cultural Appropriation}}

His next attempt would be more fruitful. After learning about [[Galva Convoy]] – a contingency measure on the part of the [[Builder of Cybertron|Builder]]s in an attempt to build a new army – Delirious uploaded himself into the [[Grand Mal]], where Galva Convoy was housed, and quietly fed the young Transformer information about the long and violent history of Cybertron and the evils of free will that had allowed atrocities like the [[Great War (G1)|Great War]] to happen at all. Thanks to Delirious' clandestine influence, Galva Convoy concluded that sparks and free would have to go if Cybertron was to be ''truly'' saved. {{storylink|Not All Megatrons}}

Eventually, Galva Convoy succeeded in developing the autonomous, self-replicating "[[Vehicon (BM)|Vehicon]]s," and unleashed them on Cybertron. Conditioned by Delirious, Galva Convoy turned on the Builders that had created him and initiated the devastating [[Vehicon Apocalypse]], arming the Grand Mal and launching the venerable fortress skyward once more. The [[Resistance]] and their allies fought their way through waves of Vehicons to reach the Grand Mal; when [[Lio Convoy]] managed to kill his doppelganger, Lord Imperious Delirious revealed himself and explained his role in Galva Convoy's corruption before seizing control of the Vehicon armies, announcing his plans to annihilate the Cybertronian race. The remains of the Resistance team that had dispatched Galva Convoy began planning to take out the alien via [[Ro-Tor]]'s [[K-Class|K-bomb]], but were interrupted by Rampage, who had slipped aboard the craft with the intent of confronting his nemesis for the third and final time.

Rampage made his way to the vessel's databanks and began smashing things at random to draw Delirious out. Delirious made himself known and snared Rampage beneath the vessels' internal structures, gloating at his perceived victory over Cybertron and its inhabitants. That's when Rampage revealed that he had wired Ro-Tor's suicide bomb into his chest and detonated it, destroying the Grand Mal, and Delirious' consciousness with it, in a massive explosion. {{storylink|Derailment}}

In the assault against [[Unicron]], [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] is badly damaged, and, fearing his own death, passes the [[Matrix of Leadership]] to [[Ultra Magnus (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Ultra Magnus]]. Despite recognizing the fact that he is not the [[Chosen One]] of legend, Magnus bravely penetrates Unicron's body, and, shedding his outer armor, petitions the wisdom of the Matrix to allow him to wield its power. Magnus unleashes the energy of the Matrix, and Unicron is destroyed, but [[Prowl (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Prowl]] refuses to let the [[Autobot]]s relax even for a second, as he knows that the currently-in-hiding [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] will be poised to summon [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]] and the full might of the [[Decepticon]] army back from the limbo to which [[Ravage (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Ravage]] displaced them.

Meanwhile, events are unfolding on Earth. In the laboratory of [[Doctor Arkeville]], the evil scientist is putting the finishing touches to [[Nemesis Prime (G1)|Nemesis Prime]], a dark copy of Optimus Prime that he has created, which has been programmed with personality data and requires a lifeforce to bring it online. Simultaneously, on [[Dinobot Island (G1)|Dinobot Island]], [[Skids (G1)|Skids]]'s team managed to hold off the attacking Decepticons, and Skids launches the probe containing [[Wheeljack (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Wheeljack]]'s memory data back in time in hopes of undoing the changes wrought upon the timeline by Ravage. Alas, rather than restore their universe to the way it should originally have been, the plan causes the destabilization of the space-time continuum, and time warps begin appear all across Earth. One of these warps materializes in Arkeville's lab just as he is attempting to bring life to his creation via a [[transwarp|subspace]] link-up, and from the warp emerges a [[spark]] that enters the lifeless Nemesis Prime's body. Now in control of the clone, the mysterious visitor teleports to Dinobot Island, where he uses his incredible powers over time and space to stop the chronal warps and repair the fabric of reality.

"Nemesis Prime" is brought to the [[Earth Defense Command]]'s [[Antarctica|Antarctic]] base by Skids's team, where they meet with Optimus Prime's forces, who have returned from Cybertron. The enigmatic entity in Nemesis Prime's body, which calls itself the "[[Protector]]", calmly informs the Autobots that their mission was a success: the probe sent into the past was successfully used by the Autobots of the past to prevent Ravage from changing the timeline. The Protector, however, was sent from the future by his masters, the "[[Alternity]]", and given the power to preserve the altered version of the timeline as its own distinct parallel universe. [[Sunstreaker (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Sunstreaker]] finds the whole concept hard to grasp and starts to get angry, and so the Protector explains that the [[Binaltech]] [[Transformer]]s are an essential step in the evolution of the Cybertronian race that will eventually give birth to the Alternity itself; in essence, the Alternity sent him back in time to ensure their own existence would come to pass. Optimus Prime requests that the Protector tell them something about himself, but before he can, the personality data programmed into Nemesis Prime by Arkeville finally asserts itself. Nemesis Prime uses the Protector's power to open a portal back to Arkeville's lab, then ejects the Protector's spark from his body and escapes through the gateway.

[[Overdrive]] uses his dimension-hopping abilities to confirm that the "correct" version of history has been reinstated, hesitantly revealing to Optimus Prime and the Autobots that in that universe, Prime died in battle, and [[Hot Rod/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Hot Rod]] was the Chosen One who replaced him as leader. The Autobots all react with disbelief (a few even with horror), but Hot Rod likes the idea, prompting Ultra Magnus, still carrying the Matrix, to tell him not to get any ideas! Having just disposed of one menace, the Autobots and their allies in the [[Earth Defense Command]] could not have foreseen the sudden, secretive formation of another threat against their safety arising from within [[human]] society itself. The Decepticons' old human ally, [[Doctor Arkeville]], resolves to break the Autobot-human alliance, and targets the [[Binaltech Project]] as the representation of this partnership. Becoming aware of Arkeville's intentions, [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream]] makes contact with his old comrade, and offers him [[Bombshell (G1)|Bombshell]]'s [[cerebro-shell]] technology to use towards his goals. Combining the cerebro-shells with his [[hypno-chip]] designs, Arkeville is able to take control of the minds of several individuals working on the Binaltech Project, and through them, gains access to the Project itself, secretly subverting several of its aspects and putting them to use preparing Binaltech bodies for the damaged Decepticons. The first to undergo the process is [[Dead End (G1)|Dead End]], who is implanted in a body that the human operatives who constructed it believed they were building for [[Sunstreaker (G1)|Sunstreaker]].

In the midst of a major battle, the [[Decepticon]]s tip the balance in their favor with a psychic attack upon the most powerful troops in the [[Autobot]] ranks, the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]]. Using primitive, telepathic alien lifeforms known as "[[unleasher]]s", the Decepticons assault the minds of the Dinobots, reducing them to savage beasts and turning them upon the Autobots. Reluctantly, the Autobots make the difficult decision to bring the Dinobots down, taking all five of them offline.

Studying [[Grimlock (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Grimlock]], [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] isolates the psychic subroutine that had brought the bestial impulses of the Dinobots' dinosaur modes to the fore, but its removal proves difficult, even without the lack of medical supplies the current conflict is causing. Observing how Transformers with non-animal alternate modes were unaffected by the unleashers, Wheeljack deduces a means of using the Binaltech Project to bring Grimlock back online safely until a permanent cure can be found. Although less than happy at the prospect of losing his powerful alternate mode, Grimlock agrees to the procedure, and his brain casing is taken to Earth by Wheeljack for implantation into a new Binaltech body.

Despite [[Overdrive]]'s investigations into his attempts to meddle with the flow of time, [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]] manages to avoid detection, and puts his next scheme into motion by hijacking [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]]'s shuttle when the [[Autobot]] engineer is returning to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. Setting the craft down in [[Decepticon]] territory on the [[Transformer]]s' home planet, Ravage sets to work locating the remains of the [[Kronosphere]], a time machine invented by [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]].

Meanwhile, the battle for control of Cybertron between [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] and [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]]'s force is reaching fever pitch, as Megatron makes his big push to complete his planetary takeover. Realizing the [[Autobot]]s have no chance of victory, Prime is about to order his troops to withdraw to their bases on Cybertron's moons, when suddenly, Megatron's approaching armada is surrounded by a sphere of light, and vanishes. Although the Autobots do not understand what has happened, they do not look a gift horse in the mouth, and are quickly able to rout the leaderless Decepticons. In truth, however, this strange event is the work of Ravage, who has repaired the Kronosphere and used it to teleport Megatron and his army outside of time. With this action, the time-tossed Decepticon has successfully changed history: now, the Autobots will be left to face the approaching threat of [[Unicron]] alone, after which the Kronosphere's homing device will summon the Decepticons back from beyond time, and they will be able to defeat the weakened Autobots and ensure Decepticon domination of the future!

Until that time, however, Ravage realizes that the remaining Decepticons will need a leader to keep them in order. He infiltrates the facility housing a shelved Binaltech project experimenting with molecular reconfiguration technology known as the "[[Transmuter (Binaltech)|Transmuter]]", and installs the [[personality component]] of Shockwave (whose body was destroyed in the battle for Cybertron) into the body stored there. Shockwave is thus resurrected to lead the Decepticons until Ravage's plan can come to fruition.

Human operative [[Flint (G.I. Joe)|D.R. Faireborn]] is teamed with [[Jazz (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Jazz]] to head up Operation: Carwash and restore trust to the alliance. Jazz was one of the few Autobots who had avoided infection by the Decepticons' [[Cosmic Rust (disease)|Cosmic Rust]] attack and had consequently not taken on a [[Binaltech]] form, but given the dangerous situations his undercover investigations would put him in, he agreed to be upgraded into a Binaltech body equipped with the [[Genetronic Translink System|GT System]]. While Overdrive's central processor is steadily being repaired, [[Honda]]'s [[Wako Fundamental Technical Research Center]] continues working on his new body, moving through a significant number of prototypes before the final model is completed. When [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] arrives from [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] to implant [[Grimlock (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Grimlock]]'s brain casing in a Binaltech body, the Overdrive prototypes are donated to him for use in his experimental "[[Project Bodyshop (project)|Project: Bodyshop]]". Overdrive himself, meanwhile, is successfully restored, albeit at the cost of the vehicle-mode weaponry he enjoyed in his old body.

Overdrive goes to work as a strategist for [[Ultra Magnus (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Ultra Magnus]]'s Autobots on [[Earth]] helping to co-ordinate the supply runs to [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]]'s forces, currently battling [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]] on Cybertron. Overdrive's strategies began to suffer numerous setbacks as the result of strange coincidences, culminating in the catastrophic explosion of a supply shop loaded with [[energon cube]]s on the launchpad. These disasters are, in actuality, the work of the time-tossed [[Decepticon]], [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]], who is secretly working to try and alter the flow of history. Naturally, no-one but Ravage is aware of his involvement, but Overdrive, an old hand at cross-dimensional travel, detects a fluctuation in reality with his [[Quantum Dial]], and comes to suspect that someone is attempting to disrupt the timeline and change the future.

==Synopsis==
The arrival of the [[Transformer]]s to [[Earth]] also heralded the discovery of many ancient [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertronian]] artifacts littered about the planet. In the late 20th Century, the [[United States of America|United States]] government formed the secret organization known as the [[Intelligence and Information Institute]] ("Triple-I"), which gathered these Cybertronian items, including one particularly mysterious capsule that they dubbed "[[Schrödinger's Box]]".

Now, in the early 21st century, Triple-I has been disbanded, but some of the organization's staffers have taken the items for themselves, including "Schrödinger's Box". Using the advanced technology shared among humans as part of the Binaltech Project, they discover that the capsule is, in fact, the flight recorder from the [[transwarp cruiser]] belonging to the future incarnation of the [[Decepticon]], [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]], which had travelled back in time and crashed on prehistoric Earth. The staffers are able to make contact with [[Central Consciousness File X-9|a copy of Ravage's personality programming]] that he had downloaded into the flight recorder before his death, and make a deal to provide him with a new body in exchange for his knowledge of the future.

The Triple-I staffers set up a fake [[Binaltech]] project to create a body into which Ravage's consciousness will be implanted. However, consciousness alone will not suffice; in order for Ravage to truly be revived as a living Transformer, he requires a [[spark]]. As luck would have it, the present-day incarnation of Ravage is currently in [[Earth Defense Command]] custody. [[Stasis lock]]ed into cassette mode, the present-day Ravage is permanently inserted into the tape deck of Ravage's new body, supplying the body with a spark. Ravage's new body is specifically built without weapons as a safety precaution by the Triple-I staffers, but Ravage, with his knowledge of future technology, is able to take control of the assembly line and ensure he is armed with top-of-the-line armaments. No sooner has he been brought online than Ravage turns on the humans who had revived him and eliminates them and all data relating to the project that built his body: having realized that his efforts during the [[Beast Wars (event)|Beast Wars]] to alter the course of history have failed, Ravage vows to make another attempt to change history.

Some time has passed since the defeat of [[Unicron]] and the return of [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]] and his [[Decepticon]] army from beyond time. Alas, the goal that [[Ravage (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Ravage]] had sought to achieve by altering history had indeed come to pass: the weakened and battle-weary Autobots have been overcome by Megatron's fighting-fit forces, and [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] has fallen to Decepticon control. Worse still, on [[Earth]], [[Doctor Arkeville]]'s creation [[Nemesis Prime (G1)|Nemesis Prime]] is scheming behind the scenes. Although times are hard for the Autobots, the knowledge that the fabled "[[Alternity]]" would emerge in the future from their struggles gives them hope.

[[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] summons [[Prowl II|Prowl]] and the rest of his advisors for a tactical meeting, during which he reveals that Autobot scientists have managed to recover some of Ravage's data on the events of the future, despite the Decepticon's attempt to delete it when he was captured. From the data, the Autobots have learned of an [[large switch|ancient device]] hidden in the depths of Cybertron that will deactivate all the Transformers, and they resolve to trigger it, despite the fact that they will be shut down as well. For the Autobots, ending the war is the most important thing, but hopefully, their human allies will be able to restore them afterwards.

The homesick [[Mirage (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Mirage]] volunteers for the dangerous one-man mission to infiltrate the Decepticon-controlled Cybertron and activate the machine. To accomplish this feat, he transfers into one of the [[Binaltech]] bodies that were developed with the intention of recreating the abilities of his [[power chip rectifier]]; specifically, the body that he adopts for this mission was the result of a particularly anomalous experiment that not only succeeded in replicating his invisibility power, but was incapable of ''becoming visible''. As Mirage ventures into Cybertron's catacombs, [[Tracks (G1)|Tracks]], four [[Smokescreen (G1)|Smokescreen]] [[Genetronic Translink System|GT System]] units and a human crew stand by in a camouflaged ship half a light year away from the planet, ready to cause a distraction if Mirage's cover is blown.

Meanwhile, Megatron and the Decepticons launch an attack on the [[Earth Defense Command]] base on [[Mars (planet)|Mars]]. Into the midst of the firefight steps Nemesis Prime, who announces that Earth's solar system belongs to him, and that he will not allow Megatron to have it. Megatron is disgusted that a mere Earth-made machine dares to wear the Decepticon [[insignia]], and the two lock in battle.

Back on Cybertron, Mirage successfully locates the device, avoiding the traps set by Ravage. With one final rumination, Mirage throws the switch, and across the galaxy, Transformers begin to freeze in place. The human crew on standby monitor the effect of the device...only to discover that Tracks and the Smokescreens are still functioning just fine! Mirage radios in to confirm that he too is still operational, and everyone realizes that all the Binaltech Transformers are still operating: a consequence of the GT System storing their sparks in [[Transwarp|subspace]], beyond the reach of the machine's effect. And since most of the Autobots have been upgraded into Binaltech forms thanks to [[Wheeljack (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Wheeljack]]'s Project: Bodyshop, losses on their side are minimal, while most of the Decepticons are deactivated. Having expected a worst-case scenario, this last desperate ploy has secured the Autobots a triumphant victory!

On Mars, Megatron shuts down in mid-battle with Nemesis Prime, but the evil Binaltech continues to operate, and summons the only other functioning Decepticon on the planet, [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]], to his side. Instructed to gather up as many fallen Decepticons as possible before the humans take them, Shockwave hesitates only briefly, before acquiescing to the logic of the plan. Nemesis Prime regards the humans abandoning the Mars base, Nemesis Prime decides that if Binaltechs are to become the basis of a great power in the future, then he will allow the human race to continue to exist so that they may contribute to this evolution. After all, Prime thinks, as he calmly boards the Decepticons' ship and sits on Megatron's throne... the entire galaxy will be his soon enough...

This plan involves sending [[Wheeljack (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Wheeljack]]'s memory data back in time, to before Ravage changed the timeline, in hopes that the Autobots of the past will be able to use it to avert the changes before they happen. The strange substance produced by the [[Timaeus Project]] is dubbed "[[Alternium]]" and is deduced to be a trans-dimensional substance from a higher plain of reality of which the [[Autobot]]s are only perceiving a tiny portion. However, even with this material in their hands and the knowledge that it would be key to the evolution of the [[Alternity]], the [[Autobot]]s do not yet know what to ''do'' with the Alternium. Feeling that the answers will come in time, [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] sets the matter aside and instead focuses the Autobots' attentions on finally bringing to an end the [[Binaltech]] conflict endangering the [[Earth]]. This plan takes two forms: eliminating all the illegal Binaltech experimentation being conducted by humans around the planet, and finally bringing the [[Decepticon]] threat to an end.

To accomplish the former, [[Wheeljack (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Wheeljack]] finally activates his long-hidden third body, the "Omega Unit", which is revealed to be not a literal body, but a system that fuses Wheeljack's lifeforce with the information network and power grids of the entire planet Earth. Using this unrestrained access to all the computer systems of the world, Wheeljack pinpoints all the illegal Binaltech projects, allowing [[Earth Defense Command]] teams led by [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]] to raid each location and shut their experiments down.

Simultaneously, the Autobots track the Decepticons to a city in [[Australia]], where [[Nemesis Prime (G1)|Nemesis Prime]] reveals his latest plan to the captive [[Optimus Primal/Beast Wars cartoon continuity|Protector]]. He plans to use a device to separate the minds of the city's human inhabitants from their bodies and collect them in a crystalline containment field, thereby creating his own synthetic [[Matrix of Leadership|Matrix]]. If successful, the Autobots will be his next victims...but no sooner has he spoken the name of his enemies aloud, than the Autobots themselves surround him and his Decepticons! As battle erupts, Optimus Prime and Nemesis Prime face off, with the Decepticon landing the first punch and sending him crashing backwards. The Protector is freed by [[Arcee (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Arcee]], and his spark immediately flies to the fallen Prime, sinking into his chest and merging their power together. Feeling a great sense of familiarity from the experience, Prime rises to his feet and declares that, now that the "seeds of the future" are in the Autobots' hands, Nemesis Prime will never win. Nemesis Prime opens fire on Optimus, but the Autobot leader simply raises his hands and absorbs the blast, redirecting it back upon Nemesis himself. Nemesis Prime is overcome by the attack and is destroyed, exploding into a million shards. ==Synopsis==
Under the direction of the [[Optimus Primal/Beast Wars cartoon continuity|Protector]], the [[Autobot]]s begin conducting experiments as part of the chain of events that will ultimately lead to their foretold evolution into the mysterious "[[Alternity]]". Two projects are begun in [[Autobot City (G1)|Autobot City]]: one to transfer the bodiless Protector's [[spark]] into a [[Binaltech]] [[Autosoldier]] frame, and another complicated super-dimensional experiment code-named the "[[Timaeus Project]]", run by [[Perceptor (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Perceptor]].

[[Arcee (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Arcee]] is selected to participate in the Timaeus Project, and she has her consciousness transferred into an experimental Binaltech body outfitted with a device to enhance her consciousness as part of the scheme. After saying goodbye to the Protector, Arcee begins her role in the project, which involves driving in vehicle mode in a constant loop around a racetrack-like structure charged with an acceleration field, at a fixed speed of 715km/h. As she does so, a strange black object appears at the centre of the track in a flash of light.

At the moment of this object's appearance, however, alarm sirens suddenly start blaring through the city: The Autosoldiers, including the unit the Protector was to be implanted in, have suddenly started rampaging out of control. The sabotage is the work of [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]], who has taken over the Autosoldiers in an attempt to capture the Protector. Determined to save the Protector, Arcee ignores safety protocols and bursts free of the racetrack without initiating slow-down procedures, which unfortunately results in the undissipated kinetic energy she has generated crushing her body. In her unconscious state, Arcee feels the Protector's spark reach out to her, telling her that he is unimportant—she must save the researchers and the object that the experiment has created, as they are key to the existence of the Alternity. Arcee awakens in a back-up Binaltech body that the Protector had transferred her into, finding that only 38 seconds have passed, and follows the Protector's wishes, shooting down the Autosoldiers who have burst into the Timaeus Project room instead of going to the Protector's rescue. A researcher sadly informs her that the Protector's spark has been stolen by the Decepticons, but Arcee simply looks at the strange magatama-shaped object floating in the middle of the racetrack, and comments that the Protector's sacrifice proves how truly valuable it must be...

==Synopsis==
The team of [[Goshooter]] and [[Shūta Gō]] go right into the fire of battle, dispatching the evil [[Smokescreen (G2)|Smokescreen]] with their "Side Kick Burst" attack. But the two don't have time to catch their breath as [[The Fallen]] strikes with his energy spikes, impaling Goshooter in the leg! Laughing at how the assembled Autobots are powerless against his might, The Fallen prepares to assimilate [[Vector Sigma]] with his tendrils. Shūta and [[Daniel Witwicky (G1)|Daniel Witwicky]] try to stop the mad demigod from taking the [[Transformer]]s' creator, but get caught up in The Fallen's tendrils. [[Alpha Trion (G1)|Alpha Trion]] and Goshooter can only watch on as [[Shouki]]'s mind escapes into a flashback of [[Raiden]] and the other [[Trainbot]]s falling in battle. Regretting how useless he was in protecting his friends, he breaks free from his restraints and is calmed down by Goshooter, who makes him realize the importance of trust in one's partners.

In response to Shūta's query, The Fallen explains that he seeks to absorb Vector Sigma and become the next [[Primus]] and that he also plans to absorb information on organic life from Shūta. Daniel attempts to save his comrade, but The Fallen is unfazed and banishes Daniel to the [[Transwarp|space between dimensions]]. The villain soon finds himself under attack from a mighter foe: [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]]! And he's brought all of the train Transformers! Shouki is reunited with his Trainbot teammates and Daniel ends up for the better, having been saved by the presumably lost [[Overdrive]]. The [[Omnibot (G1)|Omnibot]] explains that he was able to use the [[human]] as a homing signal to escape.

Using Daniel's crossbow mode, Shouki is able to cut Shūta's restraints, allowing Goshooter to speed in and save his partner. With his soccer skills, Goshooter kicks Vector Sigma right into The Fallen's face, and the demigod is soon restrained by the "Trainbot Omni-Car Joint". With Vector Sigma safely in his possession, Alpha Trion uses his function as the key to the supercomputer to give Shouki a new mode: the train bazooka "Raiden"! Aimed by Goshooter and with Metroplex's energies, the bazooka blasts The Fallen, ending his threat. In the aftermath, the Omnibots promise to bring everybody to their right place and time, and Daniel reminds Shouki of the importance of trusting his partners.

Having successfully reacquired the data on [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]] that [[Metrobomb]] previously lost, [[Kickback (G1)|Kickback]] returns to the ''[[Thunder Arrow]]''... or rather, what he ''thinks'' is the ''Thunder Arrow''. In actuality, the shuttle is the disguised [[Autobot]] [[Shouki]], who suddenly transforms to robot mode, and uses his partner [[Daniel Witwicky (G1)|Daniel Witwicky]]'s "electrical bow" weapon mode to blast the [[Insecticon (G1)|Insecticon]] and incinerate the data. It turns out Shouki isn't very big into teamwork, though—he doesn't want a repeat of what happened to his comrades on [[Micro|Zone]], but before he can press the issue, a distress call summons them both back to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]].

At Cybertron, Shouki is quick to fall to the enemy force that is attacking the planet: [[The Fallen]]! The flaming demigod has decimated Autobot resistance and captured [[Vector Sigma]]. When The Fallen mockingly thanks [[Overdrive]] for leading him to the planet's core, Shouki misinterprets the villain's words and turns on Overdrive, but is suddenly stopped when [[Alpha Trion (G1)|Alpha Trion]] materializes between the pair. The ancient Autobot has emerged from the [[Allspark]], having sensed Vector Sigma's peril, and tries to calm down Shouki, directing everyone's attention the mega-computer even as it begins to glow brighter. Surging with power, Vector Sigma melts its way out of The Fallen's grasp, and transforms into its "[[Primus|Oracle]]" robot mode. Overdrive offers himself up to the Oracle, petitioning it to lend him its power so that he can rescue his comrades who are "trapped in time" and have them join in battling The Fallen. Infused with the Oracle's power and equipped with his [[Quantum Dial]], Overdrive seemingly sacrifices himself to summon an army of Transformers. In response, The Fallen calls up minions of his own, and combines with them!
