He is a mostly silent warrior who moves swiftly and makes little to no sound. His presence cannot be detected even when he’s standing right behind the enemy. ===IDW ''Beast Wars'' comics===
At the end of the Great War, a disillusioned Decepticon lost himself in the dark underground gladiatorial games beneath Cybertron. He sopped his wounds in honorable mortal combat and forgot the military life that had failed him. His signature move was to decapitate his opponents when they lost, earning him the nickname "the Drancutter". Not surprisingly, Unicron saw potential there. He captured Drancron and transformed him with his dark power. Gone now were all thoughts of honor, and in their place, his already great lust for battle was amplified to an immeasurable degree. Drancron now lives only for the kill. And for Unicron. {{storylink|Beast Wars Sourcebook|Beast Wars Sourcebook}}
Drancron, with [[Elephorca]] and [[Rartorata]], brought [[Angolmois]] capsules to [[Shokaract]] on the orders of Unicron, priming him as a "vessel". {{storylink|The Ascending issue 1|The Ascending #1}} {{storylink|The Ascending issue 2|The Ascending #2}}
At Unicron's command, the Blendtrons went to prehistoric Earth, attacking the Maximals and Predacons stranded there. Drancron was apparently killed when [[Spittor (BW)|Spittor]] knocked him into his teammate Rartorata's stinger, which caused a violent reaction in the Angolmois powering his body. The explosion wiped him, Rartorata, Spittor, and [[Lazorbeak]] out. {{storylink|The Ascending issue 3|The Ascending #3}} {{storylink|The Ascending issue 4|The Ascending #4}}
His right forearm takes the form of an enormous claw known as the "Drancutter" formed by the upper set of beast-mode wings, which flap/snap open and closed when you push a small lever back and forth. [[Image:Guyhawk.jpg|right|300px|thumb|He's bright pink and his name is Gaihawk of Breastforce. He better be pretty secure in his robo-masculinity.]]
'''Gaihawk''' (ガイホーク ''Gaihōku'') is one of the founding members of [[Deathsaurus (Victory)|Deathsaurus]]'s [[Breastforce]]. Cold and somber, Gaihawk hates those who claim to have "character" and perfect principles, and as such, he really loathes Autobots of all shapes and sizes. In particular, [[Greatshot]] really ruffles his feathers; Gaihawk used to work with him on the mercenary circuit, and for him to see his old partner in crime turn to the side of the angels is nothing short of sickening. Gaihawk doesn't practise what he preaches, though; despite his hatred of the pretence of perfection in others, he always tries to make ''himself'' come off as perfect. He boasts about his skills, he's always the first into battle and the last to leave, he hates it when he is defeated, and he will always pass the buck if he gets blamed for something.

In jet mode, Gaihawk's speed exceeds even that of his commanding officer, [[Leozack]]. He is capable of unleashing a hellish storm of laser fire from above, rendering even the toughest of enemies to piles of smoldering ash. In robot mode he wields the power of the "Ice Needle", an attack which allows him to fire an onslaught of daggers forged from super-cooled plasma from his hands, capable of tearing through even the toughest of metals. His chest plate, [[Hawkbreast]], can detach and transform into a hawk-like attack partner or the handheld "Hawk Cannon" blaster. Like his fellow Breastforcers, Gaihawk is also armed with an [[Electromagnetic Nunchaku]].

Gaihawk can combine with his Breastforce teammates to form [[Liokaiser]], forming the right arm of the super robot.
Some time before [[Star Saber (Victory)|Star Saber]] assumed command of the [[Autobot]] forces, the Autobot hero apprehended Gaihawk and had him sentenced to imprisonment on the Satellite Penitentiary on the moon of planet [[Micro]]. Separated from his Hawkbreast, Gaihawk was put to work with other prisoners, gathering energy from the moon's rivers of magma. Gaihawk made no friends or alliances within the ranks of prisoners, caring nothing for any of them; once, when one hapless convict fell into a lava river and was able to grab onto Gaihawk's leg as he was swept past him, Gaihawk ignored his pleas to be pulled to safety, and kicked him off, sending him spiraling off to his molten doom.

[[Image:Gaihawk_vs_greatshot.jpg|right|thumb|225px|DULL DRAMATIC SHOOTING.]]

In 2025, Gaihawk's old Breastforce comrades came to planet Micro with the intention of liberating him, so that they could once again merge into the giant robot, Liokaiser, and defeat Star Saber. When the Breastforce attacked the penitentiary, the prison staff, realizing their objective, attempted to transfer Gaihawk to a safer location. Unfortunately for the guards transferring him, the sneaky Decepticon had concealed a blade, and slashed his way through their ranks to freedom. Making his way through the prison corridors, he soon came upon fellow Breastforcer [[Hellbat]], who was in the process of searching for him. Hellbat cheerfully greeted him, but Gaihawk threw him aside and demanded he take him to the prison's energy room. Using the stockpiled energy, Gaihawk recharged himself to full power and freed his Hawkbreast from the cage in which it had been kept. Seconds later, Gaihawk was confronted by Greatshot, who had been ordered into the prison by Star Saber, but Gaihawk was unaware that his old friend had joined the Autobots, and reacted with disgust when Hellbat informed him of this fact. Old friend or not, Gaihawk had no compunctions about engaged in a firefight with Greatshot, which culminated in a face-off on the walkway above the prison's magma vat. Impaling Greatshot with his Ice Needle attack. Gaihawk sent his foe tumbling towards the lava, but could not stick around to see the job finished as the prison began exploding around them. {{storylink|Rescue! Gaihawk}}

[[Image:Gaihawk_huggles.jpg|left|thumb|200px|Wanna makeout?]]

Leozack soon called a meeting to formally welcome Gaihawk back into the ranks of the Breastforce, during which Gaihawk was warmly received by all the assembled members. When a surprised Gaihawk asked why Hellbat was absent, Leozack explained that he was completely untrustworthy, and that he had already arranged to replace Hellbat with another old comrade, [[Deathcobra (Victory)|Deathcobra]]. Soon, however, Hellbat arrived with the news that the Autobots had killed Deathcobra. In actuality, Hellbat had accidentally killed Deathcobra himself when he had attempted to persuade him to leave so that he could keep his place on the team, but he blamed the death on the Autobot [[Holi]], and led the other unaware Breastforcers in a "retaliatory" attack. During the fight, Gaihawk got the chance to deliver the killing shot to Holi, but his Hawkbreast was suddenly blasted from his hand by the dramatic arrival of Star Saber. Relishing the chance for revenge against the Autobot who had imprisoned him, Gaihawk combined with the rest of the Breastforce combined into Liokaiser for the first time in years, and together, they were actually able to defeat Star Saber in combat. {{storylink|Unite! [[Image:Gaihawk_iceneedle.jpg|right|thumb|Must resist urge... to... take... out of... context.]]
During the latter mission, Gaihawk distinguished himself by using the power of his Ice Needle to damage the combiner [[Road Caesar]] so badly that he was forced to disengage, but he lost his composure when Greatshot appeared on the scene, and he immediately took to the air in pursuit of revenge against his traitorous old friend. The arrival of Star Saber forced the villains to retreat, much to Gaihawk's chagrin. {{storylink|Crisis! Ambush in the Desert}}

Eager to hunt Greatshot down, Gaihawk assembled the Breastforce to aid him in the search, and clashed with Leozack, who was furious that his subordinate has superseded his authority for so trivial a goal. Fortunately, before the two could come to blows, Deathsaurus gave the Breastforce a new mission: join him in ambushing Star Saber in Asia. {{storylink|A Deadly Battle}} While Star Saber survived the ambush, [[Ginrai|God Ginrai]] was fatally wounded, and the Decepticons capitalized upon the Autobots' reduced manpower by increasing the frequency of their attacks. When Deathsaurus used the threat of orbital missile bombardment to keep the Autobots at bay, Gaihawk, [[Jarugar]] and [[Killbison]] were able to freely steal energy, pausing only in their evil deeds to mock the helpless Autobots who were watching. Deathsaurus's plan was foiled when Star Saber fused for the first time with Victory Leo into Victory Saber and bested him in combat. {{storylink|The Tide is Turned! Naturally, Megatron wasn't too happy about the loss of his new female "companion" and immediately labeled Starscream a traitor. Again. {{storylink|Enter the Nightbird}}

When Starscream partnered up with the (more than usually) paranoid [[Red Alert (G1)|Red Alert]], Starscream fired his null-ray at Red Alert, causing his unstable [[Circuits|logic circuits]] to stabilize. {{storylink|Auto Berserk}}

[[Image:Nullray-finger.jpg|right|200px|thumb|"I am GOD!"]]
Later, Starscream was shown firing the null-ray from his nose while in [[Alternate mode|vehicle mode]]. {{storylink|Megatron's Master Plan, Part 1}}. Later still, he was shown firing it through his finger. {{storylink|Megatron's Master Plan, Part 2}}

Starscream last used his null-ray at his own coronation as leader of the Decepticons. During the coronation, the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicons]] played trumpets, but Starscream, eager to get on with the ceremony, used the null-ray to slice the instruments in half. {{storylink|The Transformers: The Movie}}

In 2005, [[Marissa Faireborn]] had a hand-held blaster which fired null-rays. Whether this was reverse engineered from a captured Seeker, developed with the help of the Autobots, or was acquired by some sort of convoluted plan of Starscream's to replace Megatron, is unknown. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4|FFOD4}}

===Transformers Armada===
When [[Starscream (Armada)|''Armada'' Starscream]] finally got his [[Mini-Con]] partner, [[Swindle (Armada)|Swindle]], he gained a new attack called the "Null Laser Cannon". It didn't disable electrical stuff, but created a big explosion instead.{{storylink|Jungle}}

===Transformers Cybertron===
Starscream has two swiveling, very powerful laser cannons at his waist. He has two more that are stationary, one on each of his forward wingtips. He calls these Null Cannons. Again, they act like very powerful blasters. When he supersized, he replaced his broken [[Cyber Key]]-activated sword with a massive wide-bore null cannon. {{Storylink|Fallen (episode)|Fallen}}

=== Transformers Animated===
This [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]] also packs null-rays as his main weapon, but these also just work like a very powerful blaster. Their destructive effect on Earth-made buildings is impressive, if not as intense as ''Armada'' Starscream's, and a sustained blast of around 12 seconds was enough to render all five Earth-bound Autobots unconscious—for a few seconds. Hmm. Then later a direct blast fully disabled ''[[Ultra Magnus (Animated)|Ultra Magnus]]'' for several minutes (well, to be fair, Magnus took a point-blank shot right in the kisser). {{storylink|Mission Accomplished}}

===Revenge of the Fallen===
[[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]] designed his null-ray himself. It is a weapon feared for its ability to deactivate electrical systems.<ref>Starscream's [http://www.hasbro.com/transformers/en_US/discover/Battle-Bios.cfm Battle Bio] at Hasbro.com</ref>
==Games==
===Transformers Armada PS2 game===
In this incarnation it slices mountains in half instead of its usual effect.
It most likely does the same to Autobots, but Starscream was bashed offline by [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] before he could test that theory.

===War for Cybertron===
[[Image:WFC null-ray.jpg|thumb|right|200px]]
During the [[Great War (Prime)|Great War]], Null Rays were a common weapon used by [[Scout (WFC)|Scout]] and [[Sniper (WFC)|Sniper]] class Transformers, and [[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]]'s preferred weapon. They were sniper rifles fitted with 10x zoom scopes, and the cloaked Scout's best friend. {{storylink|Transformers: War for Cybertron}}

{{note|In the game, this weapon has the following attributes:
==Notes==
*At least [[More than Meets the Eye, Part 1|once]] Starscream's null-ray appeared to cause freezing. This could be a mere error. {{fact}}

*Clearly, Starscream never bothered to patent the null-ray. Bad enough a [[G.I. Joe (team)|G.I. Joe]] [[Flint (G.I. Joe)|agent's]] daughter used them, but so did [[Whirl (G1)|''Generation 1'' Whirl]].

*Due to the ''[[Armada (cartoon)|Armada]]'' cartoon's frequent translation and dubbing errors, [[Starscream (Armada)|Starscream]]'s "Null Laser Cannon" was randomly referred to as the "''Narrow'' Laser Cannon" (despite the visually obvious fact that the laser blast was anything ''but'' narrow).
:That's how it looks in the episode - the image they used is from the end of a zooming-out shot in "An Explosive Situation", so it looks like they did a video freeze on the last frame and overlayed the clips on the top monitors. == References ==

You can attribute a news/link reference several times throughout an article by creating a reference name. Eg. Say you want to link an article that confirmed Hugo Weaving was returning to voice Megatron in both confirmed news and the cast list. You do this:

Hugo Weaving returns to voice Megatron news.<nowiki><ref name="Hugo Weaving">[News Link news description]</ref>
</nowiki>

===Cast===
Megatron (Hugo Weaving)<nowiki><ref name="Hugo Weaving"/>
</nowiki>

This means you don't end up linking the exact same news several times in the References section. --[[User:FFN|FFN]] 01:53, 21 March 2009 (EDT)
:Aha! Now I know (and knowing is half the battle). --[[User:Abates|abates]] 01:54, 21 March 2009 (EDT)
Don't have time to really deal with this myself, but the version of the Nine Great Demon General page on the wiki wasn't the most current; I couldn't even find a version to look up the cached form on Google, and had to use your MSN.com search tip to recover it. :Was actually comparing caches last night. ==HTML to Comic Template converter==
Your converter seems to be having some issues with code that results from your HTML to Wiki converter. When I ran the cache page for [[Out to Lunch!]] through the Wiki converter, and then copied the resulting HTML for the template over to the template converter, the 'prev', 'next', and 'title' parameters are omitted. The template I converted didn't have a secondary series (It was a UK only Marvel comic) so I don't know if 'prev2' and 'next2' would also be omitted. It's still a fantastic tool though, and much appreciated. Have you thought about automating it? Seems like it wouldn't be hard to find the beginning and end of the template HTML, particularly if the script is only fed lists of comic pages (which is easily enough done). --[[User:Tigerpaw28|Tigerpaw28]] 03:06, 29 March 2009 (EDT)
== Double pages ==
Earlier last month in the Community portal you mentioned you had ideas on how to fix the "double pages" problem that is currently listing each page with a special character as orphaned. (i.e. Jo%CC%88rmungandr & J%C3%B6rmungandr). Is this still a project you're working on at all? No pressure here. I'm just curious. For some reason I consider cleaning out the Orphaned Pages list to be a pet project of mine. -- [[User:Bluestreak7|Bluestreak7]] 22:39, 1 May 2009 (EDT)
:Well, I installed a copy of MediaWiki on my own server and tried to play around with various techniques for correcting the problem. The two possible solutions I found were:
:*Use an SQL script to change the incorrect names and remove the mucked up accents, then just delete them through the interface.
:*Use an SQL script to delete the incorrect article records outright.
