Long ago on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], [[Alpha Trion (G1)|Alpha Trion]] compiled his entire knowledge that could be transmitted into the mind of a Cybertronian. By this time, he had two students namely [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]]. As the [[Autobot]]'s arose, the two disciples decided to share the power of their mentor with Optimus being given the [[Matrix of Leadership]] so he could benefit from its wisdom whilst Magnus was host to the Alpha Trion Protocols. Alpha Trion himself came to be killed by [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] in the war that came to engulf Cybertron that was fought over millions of years. The Autobot resistance continued their valiant struggle against [[Decepticon]] rule but their world was gradually dying as a result of the conflict. Ultra Magnus believed that their species faced extinction as a result of the war and urged Optimus Prime to accept the terms of Megatron's treaty. When Prime refused, Magnus decided to take matters into his own hands and surrendered to Megatron in the hope of a peace being negotiated. However, this only led to his capture and eventual torture where he was used to lead the Autobots into an ambush. After he outlived his usefulness, Magnus was killed with his death being felt by Optimus who believed that the Alpha Trion Protocols had downloaded to a new bot. He believed that the Protocols might have gone to one of the [[Guardian robot|Guardians]] who had remained neutral in the conflict. In reality, the Protocols had downloaded into the mind of a lone scout named [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]]. The [[Energon]] scavenger went to the Autobots hidden home base to learn what happened to him where he met a simulacrum of Alpha Trion who informed him of the location of the [[AllSpark]]. {{storylink|Siege episode 4}}
[[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] later created a virus in order to cripple the Autobots communication systems with this seemingly destroying the Alpha Protocols within Bumblebee's mind. {{storylink|Siege episode 6}}
'''Metrotitans''', or simply '''Titans''', are giant city-sized bots, created millions of years ago by the [[Knights of Cybertron]] to act as their living ships, and capable of tremendous feats such as teleporting across vast distances. [[Drift (G1)|Some]] claim they had Super [[Spark]]s that allowed them to straddle multiple planes of existence where they communed and divined, but certainly even their sparkless remains stay interconnected, allowing [[Lockdown (G1)|the]] [[Tyrest (G1)|unscrupulous]] to hunt them.
===IDW Generation 1 continuity===
{{ongoing}}
Metrotitans were living starships, city-sized Cybertronians of unspeakable power who (legend has it) served the Knights of Cybertron before they departed from the homeworld of the Transformers. [[Cyclonus (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Cyclonus]] claimed that the Metrotitans still existed on Cybertron during his time, and that he used to pray in their shadow. Sometime after the war with Mortilus, the Knights of Cybertron led the followers to the stars aboard the Metrotitans, to usher in a new era of Cyberutopia. {{Storylink|Primus: You, Me, and Other Revelations|You, Me, and Other Revelations}} Thirteen known as the Colony Titans acted as colonizers, taking [[hot spot]]s in order to populate new worlds. In many cases, these colonies developed unique adaptations that set them apart from Cybertronians. {{storylink|A 'Bot and Her City}} {{storylink|Windblade issue 4|Windblade vol. 1 #4}} {{storylink|First Contact (IDW)|First Contact}} {{storylink|Windblade vol. 2 issue 4|Windblade vol. 2 #4}}

Over time, Metrotitans fell into the realm of myth and legend. By the time Cyclonus had become part of [[Nova Prime]]'s inner court, only two "Titans" remained on Cybertron, both in hiding. One slumbered in secret beneath [[Crystal City]], and was guarded by [[Omega Supreme (G1)|Omega Supreme]]. When Nova discovered the upper city and allied himself with Omega, the guardian hid the Titan's existence from the Prime. His recalcitrance paid off when Nova fell into megalomania and departed Cybertron to conquer other worlds, at which point Omega revealed the Metrotitan to Nova's more respectful former follower, [[Dai Atlas (Zone)|Dai Atlas]]. Omega explained that the Titan would only awaken in the presence of a great Cybertronian, but that it would be Dai Atlas's task to protect it until then. When the Autobot/Decepticon war subsequently broke out in the following millennia, Dai Atlas became a conscientious objector and gathered together many like-minded Transformers to form the [[Circle of Light]], and used the energies of the Metrotitan to power their departure from Cybertron. {{storylink|Primus: All Good Things|All Good Things}} Settling on the planet [[Theophany]], the Circle built a new Crystal City atop the still-sleeping Titan, continuing to use its energies to power their new home. {{Storylink|Primus: You, Me, and Other Revelations|You, Me, and Other Revelations}}

The other remaining Metrotitan on Cybertron was called [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]], "the first Titan". {{storylink|The Reluctant Specialist}} Metroplex was a long time friend of the ancient Cybertronian called Alpha Trion, and in the past they surveyed and mapped most of the planet together, including the [[Rust Spot]]. {{storylink|Omega's Conundrum}} At one point, Metroplex entered a deep slumber as the "[[Acropolex]]" of Nyon, until the early days of the Autobot/Decepticon War when the new [[Prime (rank)|Prime]], the former [[Optimus Prime (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Orion Pax]], woke him with the [[Matrix of Leadership]] to aid him against [[Zeta Prime (G1)|Zeta Prime]] and [[Megatron (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Megatron]]. {{storylink|Rise}} After the battles were done {{storylink|Endgame}}, he served as Autobot headquarters for some time until he departed the planet mysteriously. One group of Decepticons, led by [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]], attempted to follow, and travelled to a planet where he was refuelling, but [[Thundercracker (G1)|Thundercracker]] woke him rather than inform his superior, and prompted Metroplex to teleport onward before Bludgeon discovered his presence. {{storylink|The Hunting Party (IDW)|The Hunting Party}}

[[File:ReluctantSpecialist-LeviathansOfTheSky.jpg|thumb|left|]]
At some point afterward, [[Shockwave (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Shockwave]] obtained his space bridge nodes to install them in Megatron's new body {{storylink|Spotlight: Megatron}}, apparently forcing him to travel physically through space thereafter.

Millions of years later, the few remaining Metrotitans were growing increasingly decrepit and weak from underfuelling. Believing that the ancient giants held the key to reaching [[Cyberutopia]], the supposed location of the Knights of Cybertron, Chief Justice [[Tyrest (G1)|Tyrest]] hired [[Lockdown (G1)|Lockdown]] to hunt down and kill Metrotitans so that he could use their parts to cobble together an antique space bridge leading directly to the Knights. {{storylink|Remain in Light 3 of 5: The Divided Self|The Divided Self}} Lockdown and his group of [[Titan Hunters]] tracked down the weakened Titans, killed them, then took them to be stripped down for profit before using the remains to find the next one. {{storylink|The Reluctant Specialist}} The leftovers were left on [[Moonbase One|Luna 1]], Tyrest's headquarters, in a veritable [[Wikipedia:Elephant's graveyard|elephant's graveyard]] of Metrotitan corpses. {{storylink|Remain in Light 2 of 5: House of Ambus|House of Ambus}} At one point Lockdown's hunters followed a Titan signal to the ''[[Lost Light]]'', which had a sloughed-off piece of Metroplex aboard that had recently struck the ship, and aimed to use it to detect Metroplex himself, before being forced off by [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailcutter]] without their prize. {{storylink|The Reluctant Specialist}}

At some point, Crystal City was razed by Tyrest's [[Legislator]]s, leaving no sign of life, save the Metrotitan slumbering underneath. When the crew of the ''Lost Light'' arrived to investigate, a subsidence sent them tumbling into the cavern beneath the city where the Titan lay, and they decided to enter its very body so that the their resident [[mnemosurgery|mnemosurgeon]] [[Chromedome (G1)|Chromedome]] could tap its brain and hopefully find out what had befallen the Circle of Light. Doing so, Chromedome discovered that the Titan's mind was still alive and screaming in frustration—it had heard the call sent out by Cybertron upon the planet's reformatting to "come home", but having been drained by the Circle for so long, it lacked the necessary power to teleport its giant bulk across space. With the Titan willing to destroy itself to separate its [[spark]] from its body in order to return home, [[Brainstorm]] used miniaturization technology to shrink the giant down to a size that its reduced power could teleport away from the planet. {{Storylink|Primus: You, Me, and Other Revelations|You, Me, and Other Revelations}}

[[File:PrimusAllGoodThings-MetrotitanEmbedded.jpg|thumb|250px]]
The shrunken Titan successfully quantum jumped back to Cybertron, to its old home in Crystal City, but wound up physically enmeshing its molecules into those of the city, causing a destabilization of local reality. As Autobot scientist [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] worked to contain the impending disaster, [[Prowl (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Prowl]] and [[Starscream (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Starscream]] got closer to the Titan, and were shocked when it awoke, crediting Starscream's presence as the reason. The Titan dubbed Starscream the conqueror who would unite Cybertron and thanked him for allowing him to awaken one last time, then bid the Transformers to depart so that they would not be destroyed along with it. The Titan was then obliterated as reality erupted in an antimatter explosion. {{storylink|Primus: All Good Things|All Good Things}}

When the ''Lost Light'' found its way to the Missing Miracle Moon of Luna 1 via a portal in space, [[Hot Rod (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Rodimus]] and the rest of the away team discovered Tyrest's Metrotitan graveyard and unsuccessfully tried to take refuge from Lockdown and crew inside of the huge relics. {{storylink|Remain in Light 2 of 5: House of Ambus|House of Ambus}} Tyrest was finally able to activate his Titan-made space bridge, but whether or not its destination was truly Cyberutopia remains a mystery. {{storylink|Remain in Light 5 of 5: This Calamitous Life|This Calamitous Life}}

Meanwhile on a decaying [[Gorlam Prime]], [[Optimus Prime (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Orion Pax]] summoned a dormant Metrotitan to rise from the ground in order to fight off [[Monstructor (G1)|Monstructor]]. However the combiner attack was a ruse, as the Decepticon scientist [[Jhiaxus (G2)|Jhiaxus]] desired the [[space bridge]] technology the Titan contained within its body, in order to make his way back to Cybertron. Via the marooned [[Titan Hunters|Titan Hunter]] [[Waspinator (BW)|Waspinator]] Jhiaxus took control of the Titan and teleported away. {{storylink|Homecoming (IDW)|Homecoming}}
'''Velocitron''', otherwise known as the '''Speed Planet''', was colonized by a group of spacefaring, trailblazing Cybertronians aboard the starship ''[[Ogygia (Cybertron)|Ogygia]]'' eons ago. Huge superhighways and racetracks crisscross the surface of this desert planet, patrolled by colossal cleaning and road repair drones.

Racing is the order of the day for the denizens of the Speed Planet, and if you're not a racer, working ''for'' a racer, or watching a race, then you're clearly not a Velocitronian. This is no planet for the slow-moving or bulky Cybertronians; everyone, from [[Crumplezone (Cybertron)|the enormous]] to the [[Brakedown (Cybertron)|elderly]] transforms into some variety of high-powered racing vehicle. Even the slowest of Velocitronians can outrun most offworlders.
Most of the globe was covered in seas of sand interspersed with rocky cliffs, though reportedly it had a "bayou" region that was a bit more swampy in nature. The [[Diablo Desert]] was part of an offroad race on Velocitron. It was a hazardous course wracked by sandstorms and a deadly "quicksand zone", whose vortices could appear without notice. {{storylink|Sand}}

The planet-spanning [[Cybertronian sport|super-races]], the [[Speedia 500]] and the [[Planet Cup]], were some of the most important events in Velocitronian society. So obsessed were the Velocitronians with speed that the winner of the Planet Cup would become the planet's ruler. Until the recent arrival of the [[Autobot]]s and [[Decepticon]]s from the forgotten world [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], [[Override (Cybertron)|Override]] held court (the first and only female Velocitronian to do so), but she was defeated in an upset by the impetuous [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]].

Velocitron, like its three sister planets [[Gigantion]], [[Animatron]], and Earth were threatened by the [[Unicron Singularity]]. Only the discovery of the planet's [[Cyber Planet Key]], which over time had come to be used as the trophy for the Planet Cup race, could ensure its survival.

===Aligned continuity family===
====Aligned novels====

Velocitron was one of seven planets orbiting a dying yellow star an incredible distance away from Cybertron (to fly between the two without aid of a [[space bridge]] would take longer than the sum of Cybertronian history). The Velocitron system is about halfway out from the galactic core, in an area of space defined by a triad of star clusters. The star Velocitron circled was, on a planetary scale, near its end. The radiation emitted by the star created massive solar storms, severely disrupting communications on the planet.

During Cybertron's [[Golden Age]], Velocitron was colonized by Transformers {{storylink|Transformers: Exodus|Exodus}} aboard the starship ''[[Ogygia (Prime)|Ogygia]]'' and given its own miniature Well of All Sparks with a "torch". It was intended as a temporary project for racing enthusiasts, since the planet's scarce resources made long-term habitation impractical. When the [[Cosmic Rust (disease)|Cosmic Rust]] plague resulted in the deactivation of every space bridge, the Velocitronians were stranded. With no way to re-establish contact with the rest of the galaxy, they slipped deeper and deeper into their speed obsession while they waited for a Prime to rescue them, using races to settle conflicts and shape politics. {{storylink|Transformers: The Covenant of Primus|The Covenant of Primus}}

By the time [[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus Prime]] and his crew of Autobots aboard the [[Ark (WFC)|Ark]] re-established contact with Velocitron, the Velocitronians had colonized the entire surface with a series of planet-spanning superhighways, with major cities built around nodal interchanges. While there were foundries, mines, factories and more, these were subordinated to the primacy of speed. The majority of the planet was re-engineered to provide a smooth ride. Few locations were spared this reconstruction and the Velocitronians showed little to no interest in those, limiting their maps entirely to the road systems. One area that remained natural is the southern magnetic pole, an area of jumbled sandy hills, windblown heights, and thin slot canyons where the ancient monolith that once served as a beacon for the local space bridge still stood, distorting space-time. The smooth, flat engineered surface of the planet, plains and desert allowed great windstorms to roar across the world, with little to ease or break their fury.

Velocitron's capital was the city of [[Delta]], located at its equator. It also housed the racetrack dedicated to the [[Speedia]], the great celebration-race which decided the most prominent citizens, and, on some occasions, even the political leaders of the planet. Velocitron's Transformers had a distinctive visual style to their construction, sporting exceptionally long limbs, elongated torsos, and streamlined bodies with aerodynamic armor. Optimus Prime noted that some had evolved into entirely new kinds of Transformer. Although built for speed, none of them could fly or transform into flying vehicles. Optimus Prime noted that the vast amount of resources spent on upgrading racers and racetracks may have contributed to Velocitron's resource shortage.

In order to rule the planet, Velocitron's leader must win the Speedia, Velocitron's foremost and most intense sporting event. Although rulers usually rule solo, the most recent race resulted in a tie, meaning that [[Override (Prime)|Override]] and [[Ransack (Prime)|Ransack]] were forced to grudgingly work together, although Ransack's desire to rule solo pushed the world to the brink of civil war. During the Autobot's time on the planet, Ransack finally made his play for power at the behest of [[Makeshift (Prime)|"777"]] who had informed Ransack and his cadre of malcontents about the imminent arrival of [[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]]. Velocitron finally collapsed into a violent civil war that was only exacerbated by the arrival of the [[Star Seeker]]s and Megatron himself. {{storylink|Transformers: Exiles|Exiles}}
====''Rescue Bots'' cartoon====
While stranded on [[Earth]], [[Blurr (Prime)|Blurr]] pined for the freedom of Velocitron, where there were no speed limits. {{storylink|Rescue Bots Academy}}

===IDW Generation 1 continuity===
Velocitron was a world that was established by the [[Metrotitan (body-type)|Navitas]] who held a crew of Cybertronian scientists that long ago left their world to find alternate forms of energy as there was fear of an Energon shortage. Eventually, they settled on their world that became Colony 7 of the 13 [[Titan Colonies]]. Velocitronians fixated on more energy efficient designs that later fuelled a craze for racing that dominated their culture. As a result, races were the means through which everything was decided such as government, taxes and other important planetary decisions made by the victors. They settled on deriving power from solar energy with Energon being used for personal use with them claiming that they had enough reserves of it. Motion and races were to such an extent that their cities were mobile that journeyed across the frozen landscapes of their world. Velocitronians believed themselves to be a superior culture and had adopted an isolated life-style with them cutting contact with their organic neighbors. Racing within their cities was the primary enjoyment with anything done off-road as being considered the act of a savage. A lesser known fact was that Velocitronian idea of perfection through speed became narrower and narrower with those being considered slow treated as cripples. {{storylink|Windblade vol. 2 issue 4}}

After the discovery of [[Caminus]], Velocitron was the next of the Titan Colonies that re-established contact with Cybertron. [[Moonracer (G1)|Moonracer]] and [[Knock Out (G1)|Knock Out]] were sent as ambassadors of their world. {{storylink|Windblade vol. 2 issue 4}}
After the end of the [[Great War (G1)|Great War]], with [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] governed by the [[Unified Cybertron Alliance]] under the watchful eye of the [[Last Autobot]], the '''Cybertronian Civil Defense''' (also called the '''Civil Defense Force''') was established to keep order. It is commanded by [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] out of the [[Civil Defense Hub]] in [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]].

==Fiction==
===''Regeneration One''===
Ultra Magnus brought intelligence gathered by [[Kup (G1)|Kup]] showing that the [[Decepticon]]s might once again be active on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] to [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Optimus Prime]] at [[Nova Point]], where Kup requested permission to send in the [[Wrecker]]s to deal with the threat. Prime refused, not wanting to lend any credence to the dissidents, but the threat was proven quite real when an orbital defense satellite fired upon Iacon itself, destroying the Last Autobot. {{storylink|Counterpoint}}

Not long afterwards, Ultra Magnus had to deal with a group of "[[Skyscorcher|Neo-Decepticons]]" that had holed up with a load of reclaimed [[Warbird]] cobalt-60 warheads inside the [[Pax Cybertronia Decommissioning Depot]] in [[Kalis]]. Again Kup argued that the Wreckers should go in but Magnus refused him, citing Prime's orders to preserve the Unified Cybertron Alliance. Dismissing the alliance as a crock, Kup and the team went in anyway, though resorted to non-violent methods only. Magnus then went back to Nova Point to complain to Prime, claiming that the Wreckers were setting a bad example to his Cybertronian Civil Defence cadets. They set an even worse example soon after, by deserting Cybertron in a shuttle and absconding to [[Earth]] aboard the [[Cosmic Carnival]]. {{storylink|Loose Ends, Part 1}} Ultra Magnus threw a little tantrum and punched through one of his screens when [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailbreaker]] brought him this news at the Civil Defense Hub. {{storylink|Loose Ends, Part 2}}

Magnus and Trailbreaker discovered that Kup had stolen a shuttle from the [[Scramble City Complex|Scramble City Shipyard]] and hitched a ride aboard the [[Cosmic Carnival]] to [[Earth]]. Turning every receiving dish in [[Altihex]] towards the planet, they picked up [[Springer (G1)|Springer]]'s distress call from the [[Mojave Desert]] but then picked up an even more ominous message broadcast every five [[Units of time|breems]]—a challenge from [[Megatron (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Megatron]] to Optimus Prime personally. Magnus organised an armed assault squad and went to see Prime, who left [[Hot Rod (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Hot Rod]] in charge before leaving for Earth aboard the ''[[Valiant (G1)|Valiant]]''. {{storylink|Loose Ends, Part 3}}

The assault squad arrived in [[Washington, D.C.]] {{storylink|Loose Ends, Part 4}} where they battled Megatron's [[zombie]] Transformers until [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Circuit Smasher]] took down the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]]'s [[Aunty|computer]] and the zombies just bit the dust. {{storylink|Loose Ends, Part 5}} Afterwards, they dumped the bodies in a large pit in [[West Virginia]] and vaporised them from orbit. {{storylink|Natural Selection, Part One}} They would then return to Cybertron, though Optimus Prime elected to remain behind on Earth.

Meanwhile on Cybertron, the former [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmasters]] [[Highbrow (G1)|Highbrow]], [[Brainstorm]] and [[Hardhead (G1)|Hardhead]] had returned, resurrected by [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] on [[Nebulos]] and turned evil by his [Gene Key]]. They landed in the [[Badlands (Cybertron)|Badlands]] and made their way to the Civil Defence Hub, slaughtering the Autobots stationed within and taking the facility for Scorponok's use. {{storylink|Natural Selection, Part Two}}

The Decepticon [[Clone (subgroup)|Clones]] [[Pounce]] and [[Wingspan]] were stationed at the Civil Defense Hub when the ''Valiant'' returned to Cybertronian space. Upon reporting the situation to Scorponok, he ordered them to wait until Magnus's squad and the Wreckers were within range and then blow them out of the sky. {{storylink|Natural Selection, Part Four}} Thanks to [[Hosehead (G1)|Hosehead]], [[Grapple (G1)|Grapple]], [[Crosshairs (G1)|Crosshairs]] and [[Blurr (G1)|Blurr]] retaking the Civil Defense Hub witht the aid of the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobot]]s, the cloaked surface-to-air cluster missiles were stopped in time and the ''Valiant'' landed safely. {{storylink|Natural Selection, Part Five}}

Finding that ''over ninety percent'' of the Civil Defence Force had been wiped out in his absence, Magnus rallied the remaining troops at the Civil Defense Hub with a not very particularly convincing speech. Conferring with Optimus Prime on Earth, he reported that relief teams had been sent to Nebulos to deal with the traumatised population there, while he himself had doubts abotu Hot Rod's leadership. Prime advised him to trust Hot Rod as he had to learn to do things his own way but Magnus's doubts appeared to be well founded when further unrest broke out after Hot Rod gave a speech at [[Eugenesis Plaza]]. {{storylink|Destiny, Part One}} With groups like the Wreckers unsuited to keeping order {{storylink|Destiny, Part Two}} Magnus remotely coordinated them in an attack on [[Fort Scyk]] from the Civil Defence Hub, but found that the Neo-Decepticon base had been abandoned and booby-trapped. Elsewhere, [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]], [[Red Alert (G1)|Red Alert]] and [[Streetwise (G1)|Streetwise]] could only find low-level Decepticons like [[Runamuck (G1)|Runamuck]] on the streets so Magnus recalled his other patrols, assuming that the 'Cons had gone to ground.

With most of their long-range scanners knocked out by [[Soundwave (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Soundwave]]'s machinations, Magnus resorted to standing on a rooftop in Iacon, maintaining contact with [[Cosmos (G1)|Cosmos]] as his eye in the sky but just as he lost contact with the flying saucer an [[Galvatron II|insane Decepticon from the future]] landed on him. {{storylink|Destiny, Part Three}} During a brief respite in fighting Galvatron on the [[A-19-61 thruway]], Magnus received an update on the general situation from [[Blades (G1)|Blades]]—[[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]]'s ''[[Warworld]]'' had appeared above Cybertron, it was spewing hordes of unstoppable [[Blitz Engine]]s onto the planet's surface and lots of [[generic]] Autobots had been slaughtered already. {{storylink|Destiny, Part Four}} With Galvatron incapacitated, Magnus joined his troops on the front lines against the Blitz Engines but they found themselves pinned down until the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] and [[Demon]]s emerged from the depths of the planet and turned the tide against the enemy. With a [[Furmanism|glorious speech]], Magnus led the Autobots to victory against the Blitz Engines and Decepticons. {{storylink|Destiny, Part Five}}

Magnus led a team comprising [[Blurr (G1)|Blurr]], [[Rapido]], [[Gunrunner (G1)|Gunrunner]] and [[Skram (G2)|Skram]] to Kalis to recover Galvatron's body, but found the future Decepticon leader both active and dangerous. Even after Gunrunner managed to knock him down, the team was ambushed by the [[Acolytes of Unicron]] who took Galvatron with them. {{storylink|The War to End All Wars, Part 1}} With the arrival of [[Jhiaxus (G2)|Jhiaxus]] and his [[Primum Fugae]] on Cybertron, Magnus and his men were on high alert, though they responded too slow to the Primum Fugae massacring the Demons at [[Camp Zero]], finding only dead or injured Demons and Dinobots when they arrived. {{storylink|The War to End All Wars, Part 2}}

While Ultra Magnus and some of the other high-ranking Autobots joined Rodimus Prime's mission to attack Jhiaxus's [[Hub (G2)|Hub Network]], {{storylink|The War to End All Wars, Part 3}} {{storylink|The War to End All Wars, Part 4}} the Dark [[Matrix of Leadership|Matrix]] creature attacked Cybertron itself, converting pretty much the entire population of the planet, and ''one hundred percent'' of the remaining Cybertronian Civil Defence Force, into life-sapping [[shadow-leech]]es. {{storylink|The War to End All Wars, Part 5}}
The '''Ancient Map Room''' is a holographic observatory of the universe scouted by the mysterious [[Ancient]]s, located deep within a tomb in the Sea of Rust. The Ancients used it to store information and coordinates of all the locations they visited in their time. Even long after the Ancients ceased to be, any Transformer can still use it for whatever they please, though the room's data and projections have not been updated since the disappearance of the Ancients. It remains perfectly intact, even after the mysterious disaster that transformed the surrounding region into the [[Sea of Rust]].
[[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]] happened upon the room while searching for a way to reboot [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] in the Sea of Rust, and discovered prehistoric [[Earth]] with it. The discovery would eventually lead to further research, which soon formed the [[Dinobot (FOC)|Dinobot]]s.

[[Cliffjumper (WFC)|Cliffjumper]] would stumble upon the room during the search for [[Grimlock (WFC)|Grimlock]], awed by the room's beauty. He had a look at the hologram of Earth, and voiced his amazement to [[Jazz (WFC)|Jazz]], but his partner was more focused on the task at hand.

It is unknown what became of the room following the shutdown of Cybertron and the departure of the majority of the Autobots and Decepticons. {{storylink|Transformers: Fall of Cybertron|Fall of Cybertron}}
* The outdated projection of Earth shows it during the era of Pangea, indicating the Ancients were at least still around at least 200 million years ago.
===''Age of Extinction'' film===
{{spoiler|Transformers: Age of Extinction (film)|July 28}}
Eons ago, the Creators used the Seeds as part [[Eco-structuring|cyberforming]] initiative on thousands of worlds. This led to these worlds being seeded with Transformium and which wiped out numerous species with the material being used to construct new Transformers. On Earth, the Creators arrived and conducted a similar mission which led to the Great Extinction of the Dinosaurs. The Transformium remained present on Earth where human scientists discovered it but were unaware of its true nature. This changed following the encounter with the Transformers where the scientific applications were uncovered. After the Battle of Chicago, [[Kinetic Solutions Incorporated]] was forced where they sought to mine Transformium either the deposits on their world or within dead Transformers. This saw Darcy Tyril being dispatched to find new deposits for KSI who sought to find new sources of the material. At the time, [[Harold Attinger]] of the CIA allied with the Cybertronian bounty hunter [[Lockdown (ROTF)|Lockdown]] hunting down [[Autobot]]s in search for [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]] to return to the Creators. In exchange for the CIA's assistance in capturing Prime, Lockdown would give them a Seed which would be given to KSI for deployment in a desert where they would mine the Transformium for a century. Unknown to them, the [[Galvatron (AOE)|reborn]] [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]] intended to take the Seed to forge a new army of [[Decepticon]]s. Ultimately, the Autobots managed to stop the Decepticon plot where Optimus Prim took the Seed into space to hide it to prevent its power from being abused for evil. {{storylink|Transformers: Age of Extinction (film)|Age of Extinction}}

Denizens of the under levels of Cybertron, the '''Insecticons''' live in destructive swarms. Ravenous and aggressive, Insecticons can digest 95% of known matter, reshaping their findings into enormous subterrannean hives. Existing as a near hive mind, they represent a deadly and invaluable resource for those willing to find a way to tame them.

Insecticons have the unique ability to clone themselves, but each successive clone is inferior to its progenitor, leading to increasingly bestial creatures. Three members of the species stand out as being fully sentient individuals, with the ability to assume bipedal robot modes. Far more difficult to manipulate, they require coercion rather than control, and may represent the original members of their race.

These three higher Insecticons are named:
*[[Hardshell (Prime)|Hardshell]]
*[[Sharpshot]] (leader)
*[[Kickback (FOC)|Kickback]]

In modern times, a hive of Insecticons has found itself on Earth and been pressed into service by the [[Decepticon]]s fighting there. Nowadays, more of their number seem to possess the gift of sentience, including one named [[Bombshock (Prime)|Bombshock]].

==Fiction==
===Aligned novels===
[[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]] experimented on three specimens, optimizing them for battle in the gladiatorial arenas of [[Kaon]] by turning them into [[combiner]]s—something that disgusted the gladiator [[Megatron (WFC)|Megatronus]]. They were primitive to the point of barely possessing a sentient consciousness, but surprisingly capable fighters. The way they moved together gave away their nature as combiners even when separate. Even with one of their number dead, the remaining two could combine into a hovering attack mode.

The trio competed in the [[gladiatorial combat|gladiatorial]] [[Tournament of Champions]] when they encountered Megatronus. He allowed them to [[trans-scan|scan]] a vehicle form before attacking. One emerged from a scrapheap as an all-terrain vehicle with magnetic studded tracks and sought a vantage point on the combat pit's wall, while another sprayed acid on Megatronus's shoulder. Megatronus caught the third Insecticon's multiple, vibrobladed hands and tore an arm off, flinging it into the audience and causing havoc.

Taking fire from the other two, Megatronus made the wounded Insecticon fire his own ion cannon into its neck, killing it in an attempt to ensure there would be no combination. He then slammed the acid-spitter to the floor, but it wriggled away and managed to combine with the ATV, wiring itself into girders while blasting and spitting acid at the gladiator. Megatronus transformed and blasted them, before pinning them down in robot mode and smashing them to pieces with two [[energon mace|maces]]. Megatronus roared "I still function!", as the crowd began chanting a shortened version of his name: Megatron. {{storylink|Transformers: Exodus|Exodus}}

In the period after the ''[[Ark (WFC)|Ark]]'' and ''[[Trypticon (WFC)|Nemesis]]'' had left [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], Shockwave commanded Insecticon soldiers, which [[Alpha Trion (WFC)|Alpha Trion]] feared would be sent to capture the [[Hall of Records]]. {{storylink|Transformers: Exiles|Exiles}}

===IDW Aligned comics===
Shockwave discovered the Insecticons in the depths of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] and was able to turn them into Decepticons, believing the warrior race to be the key to winning the war. He had a number of the creatures capture a spying [[Swoop (WFC)|Swoop]] in order to lure the rest of the [[Lightning Strike Coalition]] to his base. {{storylink|Secrets (FOC)|Secrets}} When the Autobot team arrived, they too were overwhelmed by a swarm of Insecticons, {{storylink|Siege Mentality}} and though [[Grimlock (WFC)|Grimlock]] was able to fight them off, he was defeated by Shockwave and his team was captured. {{storylink|Last Stand}}

Many Insecticons were left on Cybertron as it was largely abandoned during the war, remaining a constant threat to the few surviving Autobots. When an unseen assailant began murdering people in [[Last Spark]], [[Snarl (FOC)|Snarl]] and [[Sludge (FOC)|Sludge]] suspected the Insecticons had turned to cannibalism and investigated Kickback's lair, where they found corpses of [[Forged]], another faction created by Shockwave. {{storylink|Beast Hunters issue 1|Beast Hunters #1}} While fighting the two, Kickback denied their accusation, claiming the Insecticons had killed the Forged for trying to eat ''them''. Though the Insecticons were proven innocent of this particular crime, Sludge still killed Kickback just in case. {{storylink|Beast Hunters issue 2|Beast Hunters #2}}
[[Image:Prime-insecticon.jpg|thumb|left|250px|Who thinks they can squash me like a bug?]]
An Insecticon was left in stasis on Cybertron, acting as a Decepticon sentry. It was awakened by [[Jack Darby (Prime)|Jack]] and [[Arcee (WFC)|Arcee]]'s arrival in [[Kaon]], and began pursuing them. {{storylink|Orion Pax, Part 2}} As they used the [[Key to Vector Sigma]] to reveal a hidden passage under the city's arena, the Insecticon attacked. Arcee attempted to distract it so that Jack could escape into the newly-revealed entrance, but she was soundly beaten when it slammed her into the arena wall. The Insecticon then tracked Jack to [[Vector Sigma]], but was horrified to see the supercomputer covered in [[scraplet]]s. Jack hurled one of the scraplets at the Insecticon so that they would stop feeding on Vector Sigma, and the rest of the swarm followed it in attacking the larger beast-bot. When [[Starscream (WFC)|Starscream]] was seeking Energon scraps in an old mine, he noticed an Insecticon doing the same, and was surprised that one was on [[Earth]]. Starscream demanded that the Insecticon hand over the Energon it had found, though it instead turned on him and attacked, before [[Airachnid (Prime)|Airachnid]] called it off. Airachnid had managed to control it, due to their being related. Though Starscream suggested that they all team up to end [[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]], Airachnid instead ordered the Insecticon to attack him, however he escaped. Sometime later, the Insecticon attacked Megatron as part of Airachnid's trap, refusing to obey him instead. The Insecticon had the upper hand on the Decepticon leader, particularly when Airachnid removed his fusion cannon from the equation, however Megatron eventually triumphed as he beheaded the Insecticon. However, as the escaped Airachnid discovered, it was only a scout for an entire hive of Insecticons in stasis underground. {{storylink|Crossfire}}

[[Image:Armada-armadasurroundMegatron.jpg|left|thumb|300px|We're going to need a bigger ship.]]
Airachnid awoke the Insecticons after detecting a signal from the ''[[Trypticon (WFC)|Nemesis]]'', and sent most of them to terminate Megatron, while others attempted to protect her from the Autobots who arrived to see what was happening. While [[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Bumblebee (WFC)|Bumblebee]] eliminated the Insecticons attacking them, Arcee chased down Airachnid and put her in stasis. At that point her control of the Insecticons ceased, and those attacking the ''Nemesis'' stopped and proclaimed their loyalty to Megatron. Then, the ''Nemesis'' crashed for [[Bulkhead (Prime)|some reason]]. {{storylink|Armada (episode)|Armada}}

Now added to the Decepticon ranks, the Insecticons were free to move about the ship. After Megatron used [[Dark Energon]] to bring the ship back online but as a consequence the ship started making its own decisions, Megatron then sent all of the ship's crew, including the Insecticons, to stop the ''Nemesis''. They failed and were stasis locked by the ''Nemesis'''s stasis cannon sweep of the ship. They started recovering after Jack disabled the ship's Dark Energon influence. {{storylink|Flying Mind}}

A single Insecticon went with [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]] to watch over the medic as they searched for one of the [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]] relics in the [[New York City|Manhattan]] subway. When Arcee and [[Bumblebee (WFC)|Bumblebee]] turned up, it easily brought them down. But soon they started fighting back, and the Insecticon pursued Arcee down the tunnel, and eventually the two began clashing. The Insecticon had the upper hand until she managed to get it to come into contact with the electrified third rail on the subway track, frying it. {{storylink|Tunnel Vision}}
[[Image:HardshellTeaser.jpg|right|thumb|250px|"These scars? They make [[Grimlock (Animated)|Me Hardshell]] [[David Kaye|badass]]."]]

Megatron entered the chamber occupied by the Insecticons and asked for the fiercest among them to retrieve the fourth Iacon relic. [[Hardshell (Prime)|Hardshell]] led three other Insecticons to the Earth's equator, and Hardshell's first fight with Bulkhead resulted in defeat. As they continued their mission, one of the Insecticons fell prey to a grenade and some [[Tox-En]]. Hardshell and the others were mislead by a false trail left by Bulkhead, but eventually caught up with the Wrecker at the top of a nearby volcano. He managed to acquit himself well against the trio, finishing off one Insecticon and throwing Hardshell and the Tox-En into the volcano. Hardshell survived his swim and shot Bulkhead in the back as the Autobot was retreating through the [[GroundBridge]]. {{storylink|Toxicity}}

Megatron was unhappy with the results of the mission and the Insecticons faced hostility from Knock Out and the Vehicons, eventually resulting in a brawl aboard the ''Nemesis''. Hardshell was dispatched to deal with [[Wheeljack (Prime)|Wheeljack]] and almost bested his foe, until [[Miko Nakadai (Prime)|Miko Nakadai]] killed him using the ''[[Jackhammer (Prime)|Jackhammer]]''<nowiki>'s</nowiki> weapons systems. The rest of the Insecticons pursued the ship, only stopping when Wheeljack threw a bag of grenades at them. The survivors dragged Hardshell's corpse back to the Decepticon warship to report his failure. {{storylink|Hurt}}

Some Vehicons and Insecticons were sent to investigate a crashed Decepticon escape pod. Those that weren't killed by the Autobots perished when the pod exploded. {{storylink|New Recruit}} A few Insecticons were used as muscle when the Decepticons were digging up another Iacon relic, and lifted heavy rocks in their insect modes. They died. {{storylink|Plus One}}

As a plague began to spread through the ship, the Insecticons joined in eradicating the sufferers, at least until Airachnid was brought back online. She soon retook mental control of them and instructed them to destroy all of the Decepticons, however she and the Insecticons were transported to one of Cybertron's moons by [[Soundwave (WFC)|Soundwave]]. There, the plague took hold of Airachnid, and she began feeding on the Insecticons. {{storylink|Thirst}}
[[Image:FOC Grimlock vs Insecticons.jpg|thumb|left|250px|Me Grimlock say I squash you like bug.]]

When Cybertron's core shut down to purge itself of the [[Dark Energon]] corruption, the Insecticons and other creatures of the depths were left deprived of sustenance. With nowhere else to go, the swarms began migrating to the surface, where they came into contact with the Autobots and Decepticons. Shockwave continued his experiments using Insecticons as test subjects, creating new breeds such as [[Insecticon Bruiser|Bruisers]], combining Autobot [[source code]] with Insecticon physiology, and [[Insecticon Spitter|Spitters]], which were based on alien insects viewed through the space bridge. The Insecticons served under Shockwave during the last days of the war on Cybertron, particularly after the loss of Megatron and the half-baked rise of Starscream. The majority of Insecticons were easily controlled and guided by Shockwave. The trio of Kickback, Sharpshot and Hardshell were intelligent enough to think for themselves and potentially guide the Insecticon swarms in a new direction, so Shockwave deliberately courted their favor.

[[File:FOC-Jazzvsinsecticons.jpg|thumb|right|300px|When did video games become so violent and scary?!]]

When Grimlock and the rest of his squadron crash-landed in the Sea of Rust, they encountered a large Insecticon nest. Though they fought, they were overrun and abducted by Shockwave for experiments. Though Grimlock, Swoop, Slug, and Snarl survived, Sludge was not so fortunate and was left behind in stasis lock. Not long afterwards, [[Jazz (WFC)|Jazz]] entered the same hive and discovered Slug's body, and also encountered Insecticons as he attempted to escape.

After the [[Dinobot (FOC)|Dinobot]] experiments, Shockwave employed the Insecticons to test [[Grimlock (WFC)|Grimlock]] and his new skills. Hardshell used a massive battle mech to push Grimlock to his limits, Kickback taunted Grimlock in a game of turbofox-and-cybermouse through several conflicts, and Sharpshot tortured [[Snarl (FOC)|Snarl]] with his electrical equipment while taunting Grimlock into responding. Unfortunately for the Insecticons, Shockwave's work was a success and the Dinobots tore through their defenses, killing Sharpshot, Kickback, and countless numbers of lesser Insecticons in the process. {{storylink|Transformers: Fall of Cybertron|Fall of Cybertron}}
{{Spoiler}}
Insecticons were shown to had infested the deep underlevels of Cybertron where they were said to be a primitive society where the vas majority followed the strong leaders. Thus, when these stronger Insecticons were present, they deferred to their orders otherwise they would attack any foe that entered their lairs. Megatron dispatched Shockwave, Soundwave and Starscream to the vaults that were rumored to hold the mythical relic known as [[The Dark Spark]]. This saw them for the first time encountering the Insecticons where Shockwave managed to best their leaders namely Hardshell, Kickback and Sharpshot. As a result, the trio joined the ranks of the Decepticons and brought their fellow Insecticons into the fold. However, Shockwave commented that the dominance based Insecticons would only be allies so long as they followed their leaders and if said leaders were not present then they could just as likely turn on the Decepticons. When the Autobots Ironhide and Sideswipe recovered the Dark Spark, they attempted to flee with it where they fought off swarms of Insecticons in the process. {{storylink|Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark|Rise of the Dark Spark}}
By its nature the Covenant chronicles even the future, but interpreting such things is difficult due to the symbolic phrasing the tome uses. As well, even Alpha Trion has difficulty reading too far into the future, as each section of the Covenant is written in the language of the era it represents. Thus, the most ancient sections of the book are scribed in languages long dead from the planet, and the far future is written in languages no Cybertronian yet speaks. It is unlikely that any copies of the Covenant retain this property, as they are presumably only transcriptions of the Covenant as it existed at their time of making.
Only two copies remained. One was placed on the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] prior to its launch. The other was found during the [[Beast Wars (event)|Beast Wars]] aboard the ''[[Nemesis (G1)|Nemesis]]'', apparently having been placed there by [[Tarantulas (BW)|Tarantulas]]. They speak of apocalyptic battles at the end of an age. It is believed that the Covenant of Primus foretold the Beast Wars, and it was from these scriptures that the [[Predacon (BW)|Predacon]] [[Megatron (BW)/Beast Wars cartoon continuity|Megatron]] took his name. {{storylink|Nemesis Part 1}} {{storylink|Nemesis Part 2}}
===Aligned novels===
{{stub}}
The Covenant of Primus was a book in the possession of [[Alpha Trion (WFC)|Alpha Trion]]. Alpha Trion wrote in the Covenant, being as it was never finished until the end of Cybertron, when he observed things that must be put into it that hadn't already. He occasionally changed the future that was written in the book using the Quill, but only to a certain degree. He also read ahead in the book to know the future, but only as far as he was able to understand it, for the Covenant changed language as the major language of Cybertronian changed. He was seen to have it lying open on his desk in the times Orion Pax, and eventually Optimus Prime, visited him for advice. {{storylink|Transformers: Exodus|Exodus}}

===''Prime'' cartoon===
[[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus Prime]] learned that a planetary alignment spoken of in the Covenant of Primus was approaching in a few days. [[Arcee (WFC)|His]] [[Bulkhead (Prime)|teammates]] were skeptical of the truth in the prophecy, but Optimus was more worried about [[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron's]] reaction. Indeed, the Decepticon leader believed that the Covenant referred to him as "the rising darkness", and thus became obsessed with completing his newest plan before the planetary alignment occurred. {{storylink|One Shall Fall}}

Unfortunately, the prophecy's "rising darkness" was something far worse than Megatron: it referred to [[Unicron]], whose body had been the seed of Earth itself. The Chaos Bringer's dormant consciousness had diffused into the new planet, but the gravitational forces of the planetary alignment had reawakened it; and he was not happy at all. {{storylink|One Shall Rise, Part 1}}
*In ''Exodus'' there is a 21 page excerpt from the Covenant inserted between Chapter 15 and 16. It is written by Alpha Trion and describes the early days of the war. It is also mentioned in the novel that the Covenant forbid more than one [[Prime (rank)|Prime]] at a time, that [[Megatron (WFC)|someone]] would take the name [[The Fallen|Megatronus]], and a Prime would lead Cybertron in a time of civil war, whom Alpha Trion correctly presumed to be [[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus Prime]].
*"When the 47 spheres align, a perpetual conflict will culminate upon a world forged from chaos. And the weak shall perish in the shadow of a rising darkness."<ref>"[[One Shall Fall]]"</ref>

==Interpretation==
The first six quotes above were believed by [[Optimus Primal/Beast Wars cartoon continuity|Optimus Primal]] and [[Megatron (BW)/Beast Wars cartoon continuity|Megatron]] to be prophecies relating to the climax of the Beast Wars.
* The "mighty warrior" is [[Tigerhawk]].
* The "great dragon" is Megatron.
* The "great mountain" was the ''[[Nemesis (G1)|Nemesis]]''.
* The quote about Megatron refers to how the Megatron of the Beast Wars was, at the time, also carrying the spark of the original [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]], and was thus "[[Wikipedia:Alpha and Omega|alpha and omega]]".
* The "stone of their protection" was the [[Mount St. Hilary|mountain]] over the ''[[Ark (G1)|Ark]]'', which Megatron partially lifted away.
* The hero who "would not prevail, nor would he surrender" was Optimus Primal.
* The enemy whose spark brought salvation was [[Dinobot II]], who in the end betrayed his leader.
* The "sun and its brother" are [[Sunstorm (G1)|Sunstorm]] and [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]].

The following quotes were believed by [[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Megatron (WFC)|a different Megatron]] to be a prophecy relating to the end of the Transformers' battle on Earth.
* The "47 spheres" are a series of planets and stars which includes Earth and Cybertron. Their alignment creates gravitational distortions that awaken Unicron from his resting place.
* The "world forged from chaos" is [[Earth]], which formed around the comatose body of [[Unicron]] after his defeat on Cybertron.
* At first, the line about "the weak" perishing seems to refer to [[Raf Esquivel]], who is critically wounded by a [[Dark Energon]]-enhanced blast from Megatron. Later on, Megatron implies that it refers to Optimus Prime, and by extension, anyone who opposes him. After Unicron is revealed, "the weak" appears to refer to all of humanity, which is in danger of being destroyed if the Chaos Bringer fully awakens.
* The "rising darkness" refers to [[Unicron]].

==Notes==
[[File:Nemesis1 Rattrap holds up covenant.jpg|thumb|upright=1.1|The [[Kid Stuff]] ''Listen 'n' Fun'' Covenant of Primus.]]
* When Rattrap holds up the Covenant of Primus in [[Nemesis Part 1]], Maximal [[Cybertronix|writing]] can be seen. It reads "7 613", then "were cast out with him a cork one fork and a bowl of beans between them". This presumably follows the portion of the Covenant read by Primal, Datatrack 7.613: "And a mighty warrior came down from the sky, and a rainbow was upon his head, and his feet as pillars of fire. And the great dragon was cast out onto the earth, and his followers were cast out with him." The animators often inserted jokes into the Maximal text, so the canonical nature of this quote is dubious at best.
* Curiously, this same passage is nearly a carbon copy of Revelation 10:1 (http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Revelation-10-1/) and 12:9 (http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Revelation-12-9/) found in the Bible.
* The passage about Megatron is seemingly a combination of Revelation 1:8 (http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Revelation-1-8/), as well as a reference to a fictional rendition of the Bible verse Ezekiel 25:17, as quoted by Samuel Jackson in the film ''Pulp Fiction'' (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110912/quotes). The same passage also serves as the motto of [[Onyx Primal]], but whether his motto is a reference to the Old Testament or the Covenant of Primus is, at this point, pretty much up to you.
* The books are small. The [[guzzler]]-sized crews of the Ark and the Nemesis would probably have a hard time reading them.
* It has a standard-size (not [[Mini-Cassette|Mini-]]) cassette inside.
* [[Downshift (Energon)|''Energon'' Downshift]]'s [[Cyber Key Codes|Cyber Key Code info]] states that he and his life partner "joined together under the Covenant of Primus", apparently referring to [[Transformer romance|Cybertronian marriage rituals]].
Members of the Primum Fugae accompanied their master [[Jhiaxus (G2)|Jhiaxus]] to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] where they teleported to the world by way of [[Space Bridge]]. They later transformed and flew over the surface of the planet with orders not to attack the dominant strain of Cybertronians native to the world. During their travel, they saw the [[Demon|primordial Cybertronians]] hastily constructed shanty town and targeted these sub-evolved creatures for elimination. This was because they considered them to be products of anarchy that were abominations before their conformed universe. The purge was stopped by the intervention of the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] leading to a skirmish between them and the Primum Fugae. Their battle only ended when Jhiaxus had finished his demands to [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] whereupon they all departed Cybertron. {{storylink|The War to End All Wars, Part 2}}
:''[[Mutacon]]s are a type of Transformer from the [[Aligned continuity family|Aligned]] [[continuity family]].''

The Mutacons are [[Shifter]] transformers who have been blessed (or cursed) by their discovery of the ancient [[Transformation cog (artifact)|Transformation cog]] of [[Amalgamous Prime]] one of the original [[Thirteen]] transformers. Exposure to it has granted them super-transformational abilities of infinite-transformation and infinite-combination.

Mutacons tend to be silver and blue in color. Individual Mutacons range in size from small [[Minicon]]s to approximately the size of [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]]. Personality-wise they tend to be friendly, inquisitive, light-hearted and easily amused. Though they have been referred to as Pirates, and do have friendly relations with the [[Star Seekers]], in their encounter with the Autobots they acted more like friendly traders, happily offering to trade energon for new information and forms.

Any Mutacon can change into anything they know, can see or sample, and merge with any number of other Mutacons to form bigger, more complex modes. They can also merge with non-Mutacon transformers, a process which allows each to understand what it is like to be the other. From such a merger the Mutacon gains the ability to copy the other's form completely and they can grant the normal Transformer a portion of the Mutacon's transformation and healing powers.

There is, however a Dark side to the Mutacon gifts. They are slowly and involuntarily merging in to one composite being, loosing their individual identities and memories. There is a fear that if the process is not reversed they will eventually become a single amorphous blob being. That might not be terrible, but it's something they would rather avoid.

They travel the stars as a fleet of massive starships composed of their combined bodies, searching for Amalgamous Prime in hopes he can cure their condition.

==Fiction==
===''Covenant of Primus''===

The Mutacons fled the destruction of the [[Neutronia]] colony in starships when the [[Rust Plague]] that ended the [[Golden Age]] hit. In space they found the Transformation Cog of Amalgamous Prime near a Black Hole. Fearing the destruction of the ancient Treasure they took it with them. The mystical object granted them infinite transformation and infinite combination abilities. However they soon found they were beginning to involuntarily merge into one being, slowly losing their own personalities and memories.

Eventually they traveled the stars as a fleet made from their own forms and had garnered a reputation as pirates.

[[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus Prime]] and the Ark crew met their fleet in space where the, friendly enthusiastic and outgoing Mutacon named [[Mercury]] communicated with them and offered to trade energon stores in return for help in locating Amalgamous Prime or for the chance to merge with Optimus Prime to learn how to change into his form. (Bulkhead thought that sounded "kinky"). She caused a moderate uproar of whistles and cat-calls among the male [[Autobot]]s when she visited Prime in person. The Matrix downloaded a history of Cybertron since the Rust Plague to her and she fell on the floor laughing at how dumb the Decepticons were.

Prime promised to help the Muticons solve their shape-changing problem after the Decepticons were no longer a threat. That was good enough for Mercury and she happily returned to the others. Their combined ship form laughed in space and mischievously set about delaying the Autobots pursuers so the Ark could escape on their way. {{storylink|Transformers: The Covenant of Primus}}

==Notes==

*[[Thundertron]] does not believe in mystical artifacts or the Primes and so he refuses to believe the Mutacon's story of their origins. He thinks they were all mutated by exposure to a neutron star. In return they think he's dumb as a post.

* When told about the [[Quintessons]] the Mutacons say they know about those "law obsessed" stick-in-the-muds and aren't impressed. They tried being like that long ago but it was "boooooooooooooooooooring." Which to the mercurial and faeish Mutacons may be worse than death.
At the [[Project Predacon]] site, [[Team Prime]] moved to attack and destroy the growing [[Predacon (Prime)|Predacon]]s. The mixture of Predacon [[CNA]] with Synthetic Energon led to the creation of a supply of cyber-matter in the ruined base. {{storylink|Evolution}} Finding the resulting product to be unstable, Megatron tasked [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]] with perfecting it, planning to use it and a reconstructed Omega Lock to cyberform Earth and Cybertron. The formula was completed despite Ratchet's attempt at destroying it and was later infused into the Omega Lock where Megatron intended to cyberform Earth. However, being submerged in the substance rejuvenated Bumblebee and restored his damaged voice box which allowed him to kill Megatron. At some point around the time of his religious "awakening", Tyrest constructed the Legislators as a remorseless, unthinking army programmed to enforce the Tyrest Accord. [[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]]'s [[Earth]] fortress of [[Darkmount (Earth)|Darkmount]] was constructed of Cyber Matter formed from the [[Omega Lock]]. At the [[Project Predacon]] site, [[Team Prime]] moved to attack and destroy the growing [[Predacon (Prime)|Predacon]]s. This led to the destruction of the [[cloning]] project along with a supply of [[Synthetic Energon]]. The mixture of Predacon [[CNA]] with Synthetic Energon led to the creation of a supply of Cyber Matter in the ruined base. {{storylink|Evolution}}
