A group of sentient warring robots crash-lands on Earth four million years ago. When they awake in the present day, their battle begins anew.

Synopsis
On the Saturn-sized mechanical world of Cybertron, life has evolved not through carbon bonding, but via "naturally-occurring gears, levers, and pulleys". The resultant sentient robots, the Autobots, live in peace for many eons, until some of their number fall victim to a lust for power. Rallying behind the banner of the powerful Megatron, these "Decepticons" rebuild their bodies, allowing them to change at will between a humanoid form and the form of various war machines. The Decepticons unleash a furious war on the Autobots, intending to conquer the planet and rebuild it as a cosmic dreadnought.

Faced with annihilation, the Autobots turn to a noble leader from their own ranks: Optimus Prime. Under his leadership, the Autobots, also now gifted with the ability to "transform", rally and counterattack. And thus, an all-consuming war rages across the planet for a thousand years, while the planet itself—dislodged from its orbit by the titanic battles—spins out of control through the cosmos.

Eventually Cybertron enters another solar system and is faced with destruction as it approaches an asteroid belt. Aboard a huge spacecraft dubbed the Ark, Optimus Prime leads a team of Autobots on a mission to clear a path through the asteroids. After the mission is completed, the Decepticons attack the weakened Autobot warriors. Facing inevitable defeat, Optimus Prime sends the Ark on a suicide course into a supposedly lifeless planet. The crash renders all the combatants inert.

Four million years later, a volcanic eruption reactivates the Ark's dormant computer, which finds the planet now teaming with mechanical "life". It reactivates the ship's passengers, rebuilding them to resemble the planet's natives. Damaged, the computer does not recognize friend from foe, and thus both factions are restored to life. After checking themselves over, the Decepticons flee for other parts, leaving the Autobots to make their home in the crashed Ark. Observing the planet, Optimus notes that they must work to save the planet from the Decepticons, whom they've accidentally unleashed upon it.

Optimus Prime sends a team of five, under the command of Prowl, to scout out the new world and make contact with the natives. En route, they are sighted by Decepticon spy Laserbeak. The Autobots mistake a drive-in movie theater for some kind of religious ritual; Bumblebee over-enthusiastically nudges a "native", violently jostling its teenage occupants Buster, Jesse and "O". As Buster and the others climb out to see what happened, the Decepticons attack, intent on keeping their foes from establishing an alliance with the planet's natives. The Autobots reluctantly transform and defend themselves, turning the drive-in into a battlefield. During the battle, Prowl realizes that the automobiles are not alive at all, but the small, pink creatures fleeing from them are; the Autobots retreat to draw the Decepticons' fire away from the apparently defenseless fleshlings.

During the battle, Buster hears the damaged Bumblebee cry out in pain, and ends up "driving" him away from the battlefield. That night, his father "Sparkplug" finds him tinkering with the yellow Volkswagen Beetle in his garage. He's delighted that his son is finally showing some interest in mechanics, but not so amused when the car cries out that it needs help, because it's dying...

Notes
* Advertised as part #1 in a four-issue limited series.
* Printed on high-quality Mando paper.
* The artwork uses early character designs for many characters, some of them heavily toy-based (Ironhide, Ratchet, Brawn, Gears), others based on early models that would later be changed (Megatron, Starscream's color scheme), and still others completely random (Gears again).
* The "revival drones" that reactivate the Ark's crew are based on Optimus Prime's Combat Deck.
* Though many generics appear in the pre-Earth battle aboard the Ark and its aftermath, the art might be seen as providing an "out": On page 12, what looks to be a huge pile of unrepaired Transformers can be seen between behind Optimus and Megatron as they re-awaken.
* On May 22, the first Usenet post about Transformers is posted by Ted Nolan to net.comics, regarding this issue. Capsule review? "Worst comic of the year."
* The cover price is 75 cents, which would be $1.50 when adjusted for inflation to 2007 dollars. In November, 2007, IDW Publishing's Transformers comics cost $3.99.
* The cover corner box, a staple of Marvel's covers from the 1970s through the mid-1990s, features a character model of Optimus Prime. A new, more dramatic pose would debut with the first ongoing issue (issue #5).
* Over the course of the series, some of this issue's early details would be retconned away or simply ignored. Among them are the notion of a Saturn-sized Cybertron, the "naturally evolving" origin of the Transformers, and the toy-based appearance of several characters, such as Ratchet, Ironhide, Bumblebee and Brawn.
* The UK printing in both the original issues and the Collected Comics reprints omits the two-page spread of the Autobots introducing themselves. The original UK printing instead shifts the spread to the centre pages (out of order with the rest of the story) as a poster, with the Transformers logo pasted over the smaller top-left frame. It would eventually appear by itself in the first annual and with the rest of the story in "The Complete Works" reprint (though the smaller previously obscured panel would be redrawn by Geoff Senior - presumably Marvel UK damaged the original while creating the poster). This means the early UK continuity initially lacks an official complete list of the Autobots originally on Earth and appearances by Red Alert in "The Enemy Within!" and (seemingly) Inferno in "Decepticon Dam-Busters!" are thus easier to reconcile.
* The letters printed in issue 1 of the UK comic were provided by pupils from Greycourt School (in Ham, near Richmond in South West London) who were visiting the Marvel UK offices. Their visit was written up in a magazine published at the school. The teacher who arranged the visit was Stephen Payne, former president of the Doctor Who Appreciation Society and soon to be publisher of Visual Imagination Magazines (Starburst & TV Zone).

Errors
Hoo-boy.
* It's said in this issue that the war between the Transformers knocked Cybertron out of its orbit, which sounds...very improbable because of the sheer magnitude of force required for something like that to happen; Cybertron would have likely been completely obliterated before it would've been knocked out of its orbit.

* In his very first appearance, parts of Soundwave's backpack, arms and legs are colored red.

* As he and Optimus Prime report to the Autobot Elders, Jazz is shown with two missile launchers instead of one, and is colored yellow and blue instead of his proper white and black. He's also extremely toy-based, right down to have the toy's conjoined uni-feet, and complete with Earthen car parts!
* Numerous generics show up aboard the Ark. By story continuity, it should only have the 18 crew members shown here, plus the future Dinobots (whose characters presumably didn't exist yet in real-life terms).

** As the Decepticons first strike the Ark, Optimus Prime is colored almost entirely red.
** A blue-chested, red-legged Optimus Prime is among the invading Decepticons! In the same panel, Optimus himself is colored entirely red and is missing his chest windows.
** None of the invading Decepticons resemble the ten Decepticons later shown to compose Megatron's crew.
* Page 8: Prowl is missing his door/wings, though one could retcon this as being his "Cybertronian" body.
* Page 10: "The drone swiftly plots its return to the Ark"—it's not clear from context if "it" is the jet scanned by the probe, or the probe itself. Neither makes a lot of sense.
* Page 12: The robots undergoing repair don't really correspond to any Transformer known to be present.
* Nobody thought to attack the other faction instead of standing around yakking? (Granted, some of the Autobots do open fire as the Decepticons transform to escape.)
* Soundwave converts to his tape player form and flies off with the jets! Or starts to, at least—he's not shown in the next panel as the Decepticons flee the volcano.
* In the giant two-page Autobot spread:
** Sideswipe seems to have a made-up or at least off-model head.
** Wheeljack's "ears" are kind of folded up against his head.
** Bluestreak is missing his door/wings and shoulder rockets.
** Gears is a strange alternate model bearing almost no resemblance to his toy or later design.
** Hound, Wheeljack, and Sideswipe are all missing their shoulder launchers.
** Trailbreaker is missing his force field projector.

* Page 16:
** Not all of the silhouettes correspond to actual characters.
** Sunstreaker's "ears" are misshapen.
* Page 17: Sparkplug's "okay" is missing a period at the end.
* Page 19: More Deception generics visible on the cliff.
Generics
This issue features a broad range of generic Transformers, from peace-loving Autobots to a Decepticon raiding party. As the brand was in its infancy at this stage, character models were not yet fixed and coloring tended to veer towards the random, so some of these generics may have been intended to represent actual characters. Whether they do so is probably best left up to you.
Image:Generics marvel 1.jpg|Since he is called out in the caption box, it is probably fair to assume that the robot armed with the ion blaster represents Optimus Prime, albeit miscolored. That may be Sideswipe to his right, apparently armed with a fusion cannon.
Zone Deaths
I had removed the references to Trypticon dying post-Headmasters because I don't know that we have a concrete source saying that the members of the Destron 9 Dai Mashougun were actually dead. I mean, we thought Metrotitan was a zombie Metroplex for the longest time, and that turned out to be false. The odds of these nine guys all dying off-screen just to be brought back to life again feels... off.

(Black Zarak I'll grant for certain as dead, and maybe King Poseidon as I don't know what happens to Turtler in MF.)

Unless we can have specific reference to them all being resurrected by Violen Jyger (Jaeger/Jiger/whatnot), I'd say leave it out.

(Also, I don't know what you mean by the picture disappearing - it showed up fine for me at 250px.) --Monzo 22:59, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

As for the deaths, the Destron Generals were usually refered as the "9 Resurrected Destron Demon-Generals", implying that they were all brought back to life. I'll cut that part back out and rewatch Zone and see if that part was subtitled correctly or not.--DrSpengler 23:08, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Many thanks. "Kyuu Daimashou-gun" literally translates to "9 Great Demonic Warriors". That leaves me to guess that the use of the word "demonic" and the presence of dead Decepticons like Black Zarak are what pointed people in the direction of them ALL being resurrected. But still, I guess that's not really enough to go on. Maybe add a footnote?--DrSpengler 23:50, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

:Hmm. That's a mildly different interpretation than I had been going on... a friend of mine thought that "mashougun" was a pun combining mashou (demonic/devillish/etc) with shougun ("general"), which is why I had been hyphenating it "Demon-Generals".

:(To be honest, I'm not actually sure if Japanese puns work that way, and I don't think he's as Japanese-literate as you are.)

:Still, the base idea is the same in either translation, right?

:Given Violen Jyger's origin as "the conglomeration of a bunch of angry Destron souls" (see here), it's not out of the question that he'd have the ability to raise the dead - heck, clearly he HAS that power, given Black Zarak.

:I haven't looked at the current Trypticon profile to see the recent changes, but I think a vague "Trypticon may or may not have been killed under unknown circumstances and subsequentially revived" could work - or just ignore that particular facet and say that he was next seen working for Big Bug V until we get something more solid. --Monzo 00:24, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
But I guess whether they're "Demonic Generals" or "Demonic Warriors" doesn't really matter. Personally, I like "Generals" better. == UK Release ==

Cute bit of trivia regarding the UK release - the Marvel comic actually rounded up 10 as competition prizes. The competition emphasised that the toy was not 'normally' available in the UK - though an occasional recurring theme in letters pages was "I found this toy that you said isn't out in the UK"... Grimlock occasionally asked for readers to send packaging in so he could verify they were genuine toys, and opined they were. Don't know enough about UK 1980s toy shop ordering channels to come up with anything definitive, but I guess smaller independents went through different wholesalers - it's possible, considering the line seems to have had a slower decline over here, that we got shipped US overstock or something. The Trypticon competition was in #185 (Oct '88) which I'm guessing would be around the time he was discontinued in America. == Same character or not? ==
Should the Japanese characters be seen as distinct from their Western counterparts or not? Some article treat them as such, some not, thus on the one hand leading to separate articles for the same toy and on the other hand to some articles simply stating that the Japanese ones are "bumbling and precocious".

Pro Separation:
* Some do not only have distinct personalities, but also distinct names, like Pīpō and Fixit.
* Especially those who are Autobots in the West and Decepticons in Japan can hardly be treated as different incarnations of the same character.
* The introductory section should be written continuity-neutral. This is not always the case due to the totally distinct characterizations. And, for example in the case of Oiler and others, it is not really right to state that they are members of the Metro Squad, because, well, in Japanese continuities they aren't. But on the other side many Micromasters are non-fiction characters in the West, so where else to put it if not in the introductory section?

Contra Separation:
* There's not really much to write about all the Japanese Micromasters beside their "precocious and bumbling" stuff.

Ah, yeah, and is it "precocious" or "precious"? The latter doesn't really make any sense (or?), but can be found way more often. --2A6 20:09, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
:"Precious" is correct, and in this context means "cute to the point of being a little annoying".
:The Micromasters who were Decepticons in the US and Autobots in Japan should have separate pages. They're different characters.
:Those who did not change allegiance should be treated as the same character who happens to be very different in two different continuities, and should be handled like on Blaster's page, with an explanatory note.
Autobot spread
I'd have to actually find it to determine what's on the back, but the edges have, as I recall, a thick red border, and I never had either the first Annual or any of the Collected Comics. My memory of when I was a kid was that the spread was in issue #1, simply transplanted to the centerfold to take advantage of that being where the color printing was (which would help explain why I have it detached as a single piece). -LV 21:55, 15 March 2011 (EDT)
:It's certainly absent from the Collected Comics edition and according to the TF Archive guide it was also cut from issue #2: The text covering the omission is "THEIR EXIT DOES NOT GO UNNOTICED" under the panel of two jets and an, erm, tape player flying and "THE AUTOBOTS, TOO, HAVE RISEN..." above the panel of Prime requesting a damage report from Huffer.
:My copy of the 1985/6 annual is presently elsewhere but ISTR that it has a red border - maybe it was reprinting the feature from somewhere in the regular comic? :::Might have something on this - according to the text in the recent Complete UK TPB (I don't have it, this is second-hand info) the two-page spread was instead used as a poster in #2, with the black-backed logo slapped over the top-left. My copy of #2 is missing the centre pages, which was where posters went in the first few issues (I'm the fella who did the TF Archive comic guide, a long time ago, and I didn't mean to state that the pages were cut quite so unilaterally), and frustratingly the TPB is missing an image of the poster. Not to doubt Roberts' word, but I'd love to hear from someone, anyone who has a copy of #2 with the poster actually in there for rock-solid confirmation. It makes sense when you think about it, though - holding it over for months until the first annual is daft when it would have taken up two handy pages in the comic. By process of elimination that means LV's spread (ooo-er!) has to be from #2, right? RIGHT? ;) Street Heat 11:16, 30 October 2011 (EDT)

::::: Managed to get a copy of #2 with the centre pages intact, and it is indeed the 'cut' pages - basically exactly the same as in the first annual (complete with logo plastered over the top-left frame). The pages are unnumbered and (obviously) situated smack in the middle of the drive-in scuffle, so it is technically not part of the story in the original UK printing Street Heat 10:47, 21 November 2011 (EST)

The biggest black mark on the Predacons' hardcore reputation.

Synopsis
Ever since Grimlock took the Autobots off Earth, the Decepticons have been running wild. They staged daring daylight raids on a chemical plant, absconding with liquid oxygen fuel, and a construction site, brazenly stealing building materials. Because of this, Triple-I has come under heavy bureaucratic fire for failing to fulfill their mission objectives and keep the robots contained. Director Forsythe is becoming increasingly more demanding of results from his top man, Walter Barnett, and the Autobot captives under their control. However, the Throttlebots' professed ignorance of the raids, and their repeated explanations about the two different factions of Transformers, fall mostly on deaf ears. Barnett has seen the Transformers in battle against one another, but despite his suspicions that the captives are telling the truth, he finds himself unable to convince Forsythe and the higher-ups of this fact.

Matters only get worse after Forsythe makes a public declaration that Triple-I will execute their Transformer prisoners in retaliation for any future attacks by the robots. Naturally, the Decepticons jump at the humans' offer to kill six Autobots for them if they just go ahead and steal some more energon. Before Barnett can convince Forsythe of anything, the next raid takes place and Forsythe becomes unable to go back on his promise for any reason, due to political concerns. In desperation, Barnett comes up with a way to save the Autobots by removing their individual brain modules and placing each one in an electronic toy car. Thus, the Autobots' empty shells are destroyed the next morning at a public (and rather gruesome) execution by car-compactor, yet the Throttlebots survive hidden away in Barnett's briefcase. Now fully committed to helping the Autobots, Walter Barnett begins making plans with Goldbug to reconnect him to his fellow Autobots.

Back at Triple-I, Ratbat and the Predacons stage an assault on the base to confirm the Autobots' deaths. Forsythe and his men try in vain to fight back, but are easily brushed aside, or just annihilated. As Razorclaw and Ratbat examine the crushed cubes, though, they determine there is no sign of the Autobots' brain modules, and Ratbat begins tracing the scent of their fuel to finally track down and exterminate their prey. Forsythe is finally forced to admit he was wrong about the existence of the factions. Good going, dude.

In Portland, Oregon, Walter Barnett has brought Goldbug to the Witwickys' garage. Due to his past history with the Autobots, Goldbug believes Buster is the only human who can safely approach the Grimlock-commanded Ark unmolested. With his father's consent, Buster and Barnett take the family pick-up truck for the journey. After they leave, though, Ratbat and the Predacons arrive to "question" Sparkplug about the Autobots, and tear his garage down around him. On their way to the Ark, Goldbug and the other Autobots begin to run low on power, having used up too much juice from their batteries. Stopping off at a local mall, Buster and the Autobots are stalled long enough for the Decepticons to catch up to them, and the Predacons begin tearing the place apart.

A comical melee ensues, with the Predacons attempting to pounce on the little toy Throttlebots, and failing miserably. Ratbat, meanwhile, pinpoints Buster with his senses, and begins personally stalking the human to take his revenge for past encounters. After Barnett manages to crash a security gate down on Ratbat, however, he tells Buster to get away while he collects the rest of the Autobots. Buster is able to recharge Goldbug using batteries from his boom box, and then grabs his old friend and tosses him and the stereo back in the pick-up truck to hightail it to the Ark. At Mount St. Hilary, however, they find the volcano deserted, and the space ship gone. Goldbug and Buster manage to hook up an intergalactic tranceiver, and begin broadcasting a distress call for the Autobots of Cybertron. But, they are soon interrupted by Ratbat, who snuck aboard the pick-up hidden inside Buster's stereo. He crushes Goldbug in his claws, and begins to advance on Buster...
Notes
* Walter Barnett is apparently a genius with micro-electronics and comparative xeno-biology/technology. Yup. Move along now.
* Somebody who looks like Clark Kent appears on bottom of page 3.
* Spike Witwicky is mentioned for the first time in this issue.
* Razorclaw actually guns down a human on-panel. Bloody hell!
* Goldbug's radio S.O.S. is picked up by the Autobots of Nebulos in Headmasters #4, and is the catalyst for that cast of characters joining the main series next issue.
* Buster and Barnett attempt to find batteries at 'Radio Shed', a parody of Radio Shack.
* The half-built office building the Constructicons ransack and demolish by stealing its steel girders was in downtown Atlanta, Georgia.

Errors
* Goldbug's head is consistently colored blue this issue, like the toy, but unlike the golden head he sports in his past and future appearances.
* Buster manages to pull Stupid Human Trick #1—never carry around a tape player without fully checking it for foreign cassettes or glaringly obvious insignias.
* The battery case on Buster's tape player is inexplicably opened by pushing one of the cassette player controls—rewind, fast forward, change batteries. While this conceit allows Ratbat to hitch a ride and thus provides a bang-up cliffhanger, TAPE PLAYERS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
* There is no need for Ratbat to basically confirm that the Autobots and Decepticons are two warring factions, especially as RAAT have just - to the best of their knowledge - executed six Autobots for him.
Dinobots vs Predacons! Nuff said?

Synopsis
In Calusa, Florida O'Connor's Circus is performing when it is attacked by the Predacons. They charge through the main tent and the side shows, causing chaos all round. However Divebomb is not taking part, even though he was the first to admit his boredom.

Up on the big dipper track Divebomb thinks that scaring a few humans may be fun but isn't what he joined the Predacons for. He wishes for challenges worthy of the team, like Optimus Prime Prey! and Megatron Gone but Not Forgotten!. He contemplates returning to Cybertron, but this would prevent the others from forming Predaking. But what really eats at him is wondering about a foe who escaped - what happened to the original Divebomb?

Now called Swoop, the original Divebomb has recognised his old foe in a news broadcast about the Predacon attack. Swoop tells Sludge that it's the Decepticon who stole his name, but Sludge responds that Swoop has always said Divebomb was dead and the insult avenged. Swoop determines to settle things once and for all. Sludge wonders why Swoop is concerned by ancient history, but Swoop cannot say, as he told lies about the event and doesn't want to admit who saved him. Instead all he says is "The point, Sludge, is... is... he's still usin' my name!"

Later Divebomb is flying over swamps when he is attacked. He immediately recognises his old foe and they fight. Divebomb wonders if Swoop ever did tell the truth about their last fight and knocks Swoop from the sky. On the ground it is the Dinobot who is stronger. But both combatants are disappointed when the other four Predacons appear, declaring that they look after their own. They start beating up Swoop, though Divebomb himself wants no part of it. Swoop thinks things can't get any worse...

But it does. The other Dinobots arrive, also looking after their own. Grimlock knocks down Razorclaw with one kick and battle rages between the Dinobots and Predacons. Swoop is depressed and Divebomb taunts him, asking what will happen when he tells them the truth of what happened when Swoop tried to reclaim his original name. He threatens to do so now and Swoop declares he will kill the Predacon first. Divebomb is overjoyed and the two take to the skies to resume their battle.

Grimlock is also taunting, telling Razorclaw how the Predacons have proved weaker than expected. Sludge will keep going until he wears down Rampage, Slag is only softening up Tantrum and will soon turn on the heat, Snarl is demolishing Headstrong with his tail, leaving only Swoop and Divebomb. Razorclaw rises, transforms and attacks Grimlock, but is soon subdued.

Once again Divebomb proves superior in the sky and Swoop wonders what to do. Then he sees Grimlock and suddenly comes up with a plan. Swoop dodges Divebomb's missile so it instead just misses Grimlock. The Autobot leader picks up his sword and clips Divebomb's wings. Swoop lands, thinking how he's almost certainly sent Divebomb to his death and silence.

Divebomb realises what is happening and tells Grimlock he is being used and that Swoop has done it before. Grimlock is intrigued and asks what happened before. Meanwhile Swoop wonders if he isn't just making the same mistakes as before, relying on others then covering his tracks with lies.

Grimlock plays his trump card - he already knows about the battle on Cybertron, including about Optimus Prime. As Autobot leader, Grimlock has access to Prime's unlogged reports, but as a Dinobot Grimlock looks after his own and refuses to expose Swoop. Grimlock is about to crush Divebomb with a boulder, when Swoop charges up and declares he doesn't want others fighting his battles for him.

Shortly afterwards, the Dinobots watch as the Predacons limp away. Swoop explains that this way it will wipe the slate clean. And he now volunteers to tell the truth about the battle on Cybertron.

Razorclaw hands Divebomb a blaster and tells him he can quickly take out Swoop and scarper. But Divebomb responds "And where's the fun in that?" He never wanted the help of the other Predacons and could have killed Swoop many times but didn't. Because he's now having fun on Earth as his playmate is back and this is a battle he'll win in his own time.
Items of note
* The story was inspired by a casual line in "The Icarus Theory" in which it was stated that Swoop's name on Cybertron was Divebomb (itself likely based on the Generation 1 cartoon series bible, wherein a description of the Dinobot was typed with the name "Divebomb", then crossed out by hand and rewritten "Swoop"). The opportunity this presented for conflict between Swoop and the Predacon Divebomb was almost certainly serendipitous.

Secondary Transformers Stories
On rare occasions, the Marvel UK issues ran two new (to the UK audience, at least) Transformers stories in the same issue. This is the case for "Grudge Match!" The secondary story in both issues are continuing parts of "Broken Glass!".
Much of the entry for Fort Max's Marvel section don't involve Fort Max much at all, and reads more like an extended summary of the first Headmasters comic issue. This should definitely be pared down. --ItsWalky 20:40, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
:Personally, I think it looks fine. After all, most of Fortress Maximus's character development was in the Headmasters mini-series, so naturally most of the info on the page would come from there. - Dark T Zeratul 21:18, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
::The CURRENT entry in his Marvel Comics section is fine. The old entry on the wrong page, which is now at Ring of Hate!, is more of a page-by-page summary of the comic, and not a good Fortress Maximus Marvel Comics entry, as it digresses too much into things other characters are doing. --ItsWalky 21:26, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

The opening paragraph here, which is supposed to be continuity free, really only applies to Marvel comic (and maybe DW a little) Fort Max. As he has several distinct incarnations: Mindless Big-Smashy-thing (Cartoon), Warrior for Peace (Comic) and Confident starship commander and super-hero (Japanese. Should he not get an abbreviated first paragraph and one of those "He different in different places" notes like Blaster and Chromedome have? Yes?

:I think all versions of Fort Max, in some way, 'checked out' out the war. Marverl left for Nebulos, Dreamwave shut down, Headmasters led a colony to leave the war-town Cybertron... that's the constant core for Fort Max's character in all continuities- he's a cut-and-run Democrat.-Derik 16:32, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm a bit puzzled by the description of Fort Max's toy. Also, can somebody who can read Japanese tell me if the specs have the Headmaster partners as the actual Transformer or a partner? I ask because in the Japanese boxes and instructions, the headmaster figures have the same names (or close enough) as the Hasbro releases.
I remember reading somewhere a long time ago (possibly on one of Rob Jung's list) that Fort Max was released in the UK in a very limited fashion - somewhere between 5 and 15 at either Hamley's or Harrods. Was there any truth to this, does anyone know? And if it is verified, is it worth a mention? It might also explain why he's strangely absent from Worlds Apart. == Autobot spread ==

Re: the Note about the two-page Autobot introduction spread. Are you sure? I have (sadly detached from its parent comic) this two-page spread in UK format.

:::: Further thought - I don't think I'm missing the centre pages from any other issues... The second annual certainly got its checklist features from there. Timrollpickering 12:33, 16 March 2011 (EDT)
::I'll have to see if I can dig it up when I get home tonight. I definitely recall the "THE AUTOBOTS, TOO, HAVE RISEN" margin text, so we're agreed on that. Hopefully finding what's on the backs of the spread - probably ads? - will go some way to figuring out where it came from. -LV 13:23, 16 March 2011 (EDT)

Erm, how is this 63 pages? Isn't that physically impossible? =) 85.210.48.121
:It says 63 pages on Amazon too. Perhaps they're only counting pages with content on? --abates 00:33, 30 October 2011 (EDT)
:: Might be; it's been a while since I had the annual, but IIRC there weren't any content-free pages - IIRC it leapt straight into the Armada comics with almost indecent haste - endplates (possibly the #1 wraparound cover) a contents page (with all the legal stuff crammed on as well) then, bam, solid Dreamwave reprints (off the top of my head, no quiz pages, nothing, just the covers to break them up). Though it was hardly a cherished possession! Is it worth noting Pedigree seemed to have made up names for the issues - "Battle Stations!", "Invasion!" and "Rise of the Decepticons!" respectively. There was also absolutely zero explantion for the random skip to #6, or as to why the story just stops then either. Probably the most slapdash TF comic of all time?
