:Originally a ''[[Diaclone]]'' "New [[Popular Earth vehicle alternate modes#Lamborghini Countach|Countach LP500S]]", Sideswipe transforms into... well, into that. In [[robot mode]] he is armed with a white rifle and a missile launcher that can clip onto either of his shoulders. The launcher can fire one of three included white missiles, in theory, as the springs were weakened for the US release [[for safety reasons]]. The original 1984 US release did not have the [[rubsign]] found on later releases.

:When Hasbro released the original Generation 1 toys in continental [[Europe]] through its then recently acquired subsidiary [[Milton Bradley]] in 1985, several toys, such as the Autobot Cars, were actually pre-existing stock originally intended for [[Joustra]]'s version of the ''[[Diaclone]]'' line that was acquired by Hasbro as part of an agreement with Joustra and put into MB-branded ''Transformers'' packaging. For some reason, the Sunstreaker toy (sporting its yellow Hasbro ''Transformers'' colors due to being produced during the ''Diaclone''/''Transformers'' transitional period) was released in packaging intended for his brother Sideswipe, an entirely different sculpt. The packaging even included Sideswipe's instructions and sticker sheet, neither of which were of much use for the toy. This explains why, unlike most of the early Alternators toys, Side Swipe's robot mode bears little resemblance to his G1 self. The most noticeable redesign from the "Tracks" design was the vehicle mode's doors being moved from the "backpack" kibble (where they would have resembled the G1 Tracks toy's wings) to the sides of the arms, thus being the most obvious visual cue taken from the G1 Sideswipe toy. Though the car is mostly based upon the Gallardo, to avoid legal problems, it also features modified headlights and elements taken from other cars—most of them are taken from other Lamborghini models, such as a rear end that is basically a cross between a {{w|Lamborghini Murciélago|Murciélago}} and a {{w|Lamborghini Diablo|Diablo}}; however, the split side windows and the ridges on the door vents are based on a {{w|McLaren F1}}. He also comes with the same roof-mounted engine supercharger accessory as Sunstreaker. Hasbro's early plans for Sunstreaker and Sideswipe had the two as straight redecos of each other, only differing in their head sculpts besides their colors—namely, Sunstreaker would have just been Sideswipe in yellow with a different head. :Hasbro also originally intended the [[alternate mode]]'s supercharger to split into two halves which would then become the handgun and a spring-loaded shoulder launcher for the robot mode. On the final toy, the Flare Launcher (a redeco of Sunstreaker's Electron Pulse Blaster) can be combined with the removable supercharger engine accessory by wrapping the intakes around the gun and mounted in either of the holes on his shoulders to simulate Sideswipe's Generation 1 missile launcher. Of course, this leaves him without a hand-held weapon. The engine can also be mounted on Sideswipe's back as his [[Jet pack|rocket pack]]. Most of this is not shown in the [[instructions]], which only instruct the owner of the toy to put the gun in his hand and attach the supercharger to his back.

:In regards to the plastic mold changes, white remains white, but like the original ''Generation 2'' figure, the red and black colors are swapped. Clear green replaces the clear plastic used for the window and thighs.

:This figure uses the ''[[Transformers: Generations (toyline)|Generations]]'' [[Red Alert (G1)#Generations|Red Alert]] version of the mold, which includes two screw holes in the canopy (rather than one like ''Henkei! Henkei!'' Alert or none like all other versions of this mold). The samples [[Shawn D. Tessmann|Shawn Tessmann]] had on display used the original version of the mold, and lacked the screw holes. Despite the mold change, the lightbar was not included. These holes replace the slots used to mount the rocket pack in robot mode. The rocket pack can still be mounted on the gun in robot mode and in car mode though. As an unintended result of having empty screw holes over the rocket pack sockets, Sideswipe can now mount his gun inside either screw hole on the roof of his car mode.

His head sculpt is heavily based on [[#Universe (2008)|''Universe'' Sideswipe]]'s head design, but as a first for a Sideswipe toy with a primarily red body, the head is ''not'' colored black, but ''red'' like the ''Generation 2''-inspired BotCon 2010 customization class version's head ([[#Timelines|see above]]). He comes with two [[Kreon]]s: a Sideswipe based on the Generation 1 character and a generic driver.

:Like many other Kre-O sets, his stock photography shows a different robot mode construction than the final product. The most noticeable examples are his lower legs which have a much less awkward construction in the stock photos than the final product. Whether this is the photographer taking creative liberty or if the set design changed is unknown. Reflector was among the warriors who accompanied [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]] aboard the Decepticons' [[Nemesis (G1)|space cruiser]] during its assault on the [[Autobot]]s' [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] four million years ago. When the Ark crashed on [[Earth]], Reflector was entombed in stasis with the other Transformers and awoke with the other Decepticons in [[1984]]. Withdrawing from the Ark, the Decepticons immediately set about constructing a temporary base for themselves, and Reflector and [[Thundercracker (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Thundercracker]] were assigned to patrol the perimeter. As they surveyed the desert landscape, Reflector expressed his disbelief that the Autobots had also survived the crash. Thundercracker then spotted something off in the distance, and Reflector transformed to camera mode so that Thundercracker could use him to zoom in on the mystery object. While the Decepticons were in the midst of testing their new intergalactic "[[space bridge]]" transport system, Reflector took part in two battles with the Autobots when the heroic robots tried to interfere with the test run. The battle ended badly when Megatron was sucked through the space bridge and back to Cybertron, {{storylink|Transport to Oblivion (episode)|Transport to Oblivion}} but Reflector seemed unfazed by the apparent loss of his leader, as he went on to carry out orders that had previously been given to him and began staking out the laboratory of [[antimatter]] researcher [[Alcazar|Doctor Alcazar]]. Using his photographic abilities to obtain the entry code for the laboratory's security system in secret, Reflector concluded his stakeout just as Megatron returned to Earth, and he quickly reported his findings to the Decepticon leader. Reflector subsequently followed Megatron back to the lab and entered the entry code for him, allowing the villains to enter the complex stealthily. Reflector was no doubt rather cheesed off to learn that his spying had been for naught when it turned out that Alcazar had gotten rid of the antimatter formula by transmitting it to [[Chip Chase]]. When the Decepticons acquired the formula from Chip, Reflector helped charge [[energon cube]]s with the antimatter they created, and then participated in the subsequent battle with the Autobots, which ended when the antimatter cubes Megatron was using to power himself threatened to overload. {{storylink|Roll for It}}

The Autobots soon got themselves together, though, and Reflector was dispatched when his duplicates were hurled into one another, causing them to recombine into one. Before the construction of Autobot City on Earth, Optimus led a convoy of Autobots to find the ideal location for their new base's construction. Reflector was (maybe) amongst the Decepticons who lay in wait to ambush Optimus and the Autobots. The battle that ensued later came to be known as "[[Digital Doom on the Highway to Destruction (G1)|Digital Doom on the Highway to Destruction]]." {{storylink|Rodimus Prime remembers the Transformers greatest battle on Earth.}}

The three Reflector components were among the Transformers who crashed on Earth millions of years in the past, and upon being discovered by humans, they were reprogrammed to serve the terrorist organization [[Cobra]]. The Autobot [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] eventually restored everyone's original programming, and the angry Reflector trio broke into Cobra's control center to teach the fleshlings a thing or two about messing with their heads. {{storylink|G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers #4}} Reflector was then ordered by Megatron to assist [[Doctor Mindbender]] and [[Firefly]] while they used the [[SPS Satellite]] to create [[energon cube]]s. In a dark alternate future where the Decepticons had conquered Earth, three black Reflectors guarded human slaves imprisoned near a factory, but were killed by [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]], [[Tomax and Xamot]]. As this future was also full of multiple [[Sweep (G1)|Sweeps]], [[Insecticon (G1)|Insecticon swarms]] and [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage packs]], it is possible these Reflectors were some sort of [[Cloning|clones]]. {{storylink|G.I. Viewfinder was killed in the crash when a large piece of the bridge's shattered canopy impaled through his chest. Spectro and Spyglass survived and eventually they located [[Wheelie (G1)|Wheelie]], who had previously crashed on the same planet and had been building an escape vessel with a [[Varta|friendly alien]]. They managed to hijack the vessel shortly before it launched by threatening to kill Wheelie's friend, but the tiny Autobot removed the safety catch from his energon converter before disembarking, causing it to explode violently shortly after takeoff, killing the last two fragments of Reflector's being. {{storylink|Spotlight: Wheelie}}

Three Reflector units hailing from an unknown [[universal stream]] were among the minions serving under [[Megatron (G1)#Alternity|Megatron]] during his complicated, cross-dimensional war with the Autobot [[Alternity]]. This incarnation of Reflector was a [[Pretender]], with each of his components able to disguise itself as an ordinary-sized human being.

Reflector was dispatched to [[Primax 905.0 Beta|universal stream 905.0 Beta]] to search for the source of a new dimensional flux of previously unheard type. In their Pretender guises, the trio tracked the source of the disruption to the [[Otsuka Museum of Art]], and found that it was a strange tablet. Reflector was about to make off with the tablet when he was accosted by [[Bumblebee (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity#Alternity|Bumblebee]] and [[Arcee (Energon)|Elita Seven]], and his components promptly dropped their Pretender forms to battle the little Autobot. Unfortunately for Reflector, he was no match for the unearthly powers of an Alternity: Bumblebee snatched the tablet away, and with a snap of his fingers, reduced Reflector to a nearly two-dimensional state. From across the dimensions, Megatron saw his minions collapse like paper, and lashed out with his tesseractal swords, destroying the museum and the tablet, and wounding Bumblebee. After [[Rubble]] had been murdered, Bumblebee petitioned to join the Guard. After the [[Tether]] fell and caused mass destruction in [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]], the Ascenticon Guard was sent out to conduct search and rescue operations, Refraktor shining a searchlight into the ruins. {{storylink|Rise of the Decepticons: All Fall Down|All Fall Down}} However, the Ascenticons soon revealed their hand and seized power in the Senate. Beforehand, Refraktor privately alerted Starscream it would be a good time to be absent from the situation. {{storylink|Rise of the Decepticons: We Have Deceived You|We Have Deceived You}} As part of the renamed Decepticons, Refraktor was on sentry duty when the old authorities tried to rescue the captive senators. {{storylink|War World: Prime}}

Refraktor was on patrol with [[Gutcruncher (G1)|Gutcruncher]] and [[Airwave (facility)|Airwave]] when they decided to harass [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]]'s clinic and intimidate the medics who worked there into surrendering any Autobot sympathizers. However, Ratchet was less compliant than they'd hoped and [[Hoist (G1)|Hoist]] eventually scared them into leaving when he threatened to turn a swarm of [[Diagnostic Drone|diagnostic drone]]s upon the three. {{storylink|Escape Part One}}

Refraktor also joined the Decepticon Guard in driving Security Operations away from the cells, freeing some of their people captured before the coup. During the operation, however, Refraktor cornered a member of Sec-Ops named [[Vibes]]. At Starscream's direction, he slipped Vibes a tip about [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] and Titansparks. Starscream had been forced to share some of his cards with Megatron and Starscream, so he wanted Optimus Prime to have some of the same intelligence to keep himself potentially useful. Refraktor complied, but he warned Starscream that his loyalty would only stretch so far, especially as Megatron's seemed to be winning. Starscream warned Refraktor not to get too cocky and start thinking for himself at a time like this. {{storylink|War World: Hunt}}

Incidentally, Refraktor was targeted by [[Swindle (G1)|Swindle]] as a potential source of information as well. The enterprising casino owner tagged Refraktor as a favored patron, one who might get more talkative after some specially-refined energon. The humans responded by founding [[Skywatch]] which itself created [[Skynet]], a powerful artificial intelligence that created the [[T-800]] robots as an army. In spite of the Decepticons' technological superiority, Refraktor fell to the T-800 swarm, {{storylink|Enemy of My Enemy Part Two}} his corpse littering [[Los Angeles]]. {{storylink|Enemy of My Enemy Part One}}

To avert the Decepticon threat, a lone T-800 travelled back to 1984 to try and destroy them before they conquered the world. Spyglass, Spectro, and Viewfinder were selected to spy on and gather intelligence on the [[Nova Power Core|Nova Core]]. They sneaked through the base's security and found the Nova Core. Unfortunately, by their own incompetence and curiosity they removed the device with the power plant still running. As soon as the reactor was set off, Reflector fled the scene.

Reflector was out of contact while the two snipers [[Wildrider (G1)|Brake-Neck]] and [[Smokescreen (G1)|Smokescreen]] fought it out. {{storylink|Transformers: Earth Wars|Bit of a Longshot}}

Viewfinder had absorbed most of the damage from the blast, and the other two set up a shielding unit to protect them while they complete repairs. Megatron reminded them of their mission, and Brake-Neck reminded them of Smokescreen. They naively thought they could be three less targets by transforming into camera mode. {{storylink|Transformers: Earth Wars|Battle Hardened}}

Reflector soon informed Megatron they were back to being 100% operational and going to make a move to recover the Nova Core. As the battle was taking place, they were spotted by Smokescreen. Reflector asked Brake-Neck fpr cover fire, but he refused and told Spyglass it was stupid of them to be in an open field in the first place. Then Viewfinder was hit by a sniper bullet as they ran and cranked up their shields.

As [[First Aid (G1)#Transformers: Earth Wars|First Aid]] headed to an extraction site where his Medi-bots would meet him, Brake-Neck was compromised by Smokescreen, and Reflector stole the Core and tried to take off with it. First Aid intervened, and... unexpectedly, Spectro dropped the Nova Core into water, of all things. The Core went critical, and First Aid convinced Reflector to help him shield the energy as the Nova Core went into meltdown. The Nova Core faded, and Viewfinder only asked that the Autobot not tell Megatron about what just happened. Then Viewfinder got hit by Brake-Neck's bullet, much to his irritation {{storylink| Transformers: Earth Wars/Events| Big Bang!}}

When Reflector came through the Spacebridge, Shockwave thought it was malfunctioning, seeing as it had multiple lifeforms coming through at once. After they made their entrance, Starscream warned Shockwave about their meddlesome nature, to which Shockwave replied that the four of them would get along well together.

While Swindle was having a sale with Luca, Reflector eavesdropped on the two, and learnt Luca had a "plan" for Starscream involving a box. Naturally, Reflector went to tattle on Starscream about the ploy. Starscream destroyed the box, much to Swindle's chagrin. Apparently it wasn't a trap, but in fact a gift for Starscream's Inception Day! - Cybertron-21, a high-fidelity holographic battlefield simulator. Starscream was shocked he had just destroyed a game (in mint condition). Reflector thought that it was a bad call to have done that, and they decide to go back to blackmailing people. {{storylink|Transformers: Earth Wars}}
