Sari Sumdac
:Sari Sumdac is a techno-organic humanoid from the Animated continuity family.

Sari Sumdac, the technorganic daughter of robotics genius Isaac Sumdac, used to not get out much. She spent all her time within her father's laboratories, receiving her education from robots. Despite this, she doesn't seem like a shut-in. She's curious, excitable, adventurous, and knows that crying can sometimes get her what she wants. She's just never known what it's like to be around other kids. Fortunately, she has Bumblebee and Bulkhead to help with that, and she claims that 'Bee is the best friend she's ever had. In fact, she's become very possessive of all her robotic friends.

It was believed that Sari was a normal human, until it was revealed that she was made from a protoform and her father's DNA. Hence, the AllSpark viewed her with great regard, bestowing upon her a key with miraculous powers (though her guardian, the robotic dog Sparkplug, thought it was just another chew toy).

Since discovering her true origin, she has absorbed the power of her AllSpark-powered Key to gain Cybertronian abilities such as enhanced strength, speed, and the ability to create destructive spheres of energy with her hands, as well as the ability to transform into an armored form with several weapons (most of which Ratchet was forced to seal away after she proved unable to control them). She also owns a scooter which can transform into a jet pack.

Sari's origins are shrouded in mystery. She came into existence when a Cybertronian protoform appeared in Isaac Sumdac's laboratory. The baffled scientist reached out to touch the small, liquid metal creature, and received an electric shock that knocked him unconscious. When he awoke, the protoform had scanned his DNA and reconfigured into a techno-organic creature that appeared to be a human baby. Sumdac "adopted" the robot child and named it "Sari", and raised it as his own daughter over the next eight years. Understandably, Sumdac was reluctant to let Sari out into the world, and instead kept her mostly confined to Sumdac Tower, educating her with robot tutors and creating robotic companions like her pet Sparkplug to keep her company. TransWarped Precisely how the protoform that became Sari appeared in Sumdac's lab is unknown; Sari herself seems to believe that she was one of the protoforms stolen from the Cyber-Ninja Corps by Lockdown millions of years ago and stored aboard the Nemesis, but given that those protoforms were blanks, and that it was a different size and shape to all the other protoforms seen, this seems unlikely. Endgame, Part II

One day, when Sparkplug stole her security key card, Sari chased it outside and was confronted by the Autobots Bumblebee and Bulkhead, who hadn't quite yet fathomed what humans were, and spoke to her as if she were Sparkplug's pet. Naturally, she freaked out, but quickly befriended Bumblebee once he saved her from a giant bug that had grown from her father's nanite experiment gone awry. Stowing away on Bumblebee and coming aboard the Autobots' ship, she came across the AllSpark, which infused part of its power into her security key, creating the Key. This allowed her to heal Transformers, such as the injured Prowl, earning her brownie points with the 'Bots. She also managed to talk the police down from shooting the Autobots, saying they were friendly (except Ratchet, who was grumpy, but not evil). Sari later helped teach the Autobots about Earth and humans, explaining their method of reproduction to a very startled Optimus Prime.

During the unveiling of her father's new transit system, Starscream arrived and attacked. Bumblebee took a shot meant for Sari, allowing Starscream to capture him, Professor Sumdac, the Mayor, and Captain Fanzone. Sari came up with the idea to distract Starscream while she and Prowl rescued the others (even faking some tears to make it happen). The Key later saved Optimus Prime's life when she used it, in concert with the AllSpark itself, to revive his Spark. Transform and Roll Out

Sari would go on to be Bumblebee's usual partner in crime, encouraging him to engage in such questionable activities as high-profile wrestling matches Total Meltdown and installing rocket boosters to make him go faster. Nanosec (episode) Sari likely hangs out with Bumblebee because she knows she can scare the holy bePrimus out of him. Along Came a Spider

On Sari's eighth birthday, the only other kids who turned up were the children of her dad's employees. None of them really wanted to be there and soon focused their attention on the Autobots. Sari was left alone and shunned along with Bulkhead, both morose that the kids didn't like them. Her father's present, a music robot called Soundwave, cheered her up, and she soon began neglecting her friendship with Bulkhead in favour of her new toy. Repeated uses of the Key turned Soundwave into a malevolent, sentient being who tried to enslave humanity, and she learnt she'd been wrong to ignore her friend. Sound and Fury

When the Decepticons Blitzwing and Lugnut arrived on Earth, they manhandled the Autobots. Although they survived, it made apparent the fact that more would come looking for the AllSpark, so the Autobots decided to repair their ship and leave Earth. Sari's reaction to this was displeasure (in the form of a high pitch shout of "NO!"). However, they needed the Key to assist Ratchet in repairing the ship. Sari was unwilling to help them leave, and neither was she pleased to work with a grouch like Ratchet (who was not that keen on working with a Protoform), but they managed to get her to the ship. While alone with the AllSpark, Sari decided to try and sabotage the ship, thereby keeping the Autobots on Earth (and dooming her species to enslavement and/or extinction) but the Key repaired the damage. After that, the AllSpark showed her an image of a giant Transformer. In her panic, Sari opened the air lock, nearly drowning, but Ratchet saved her. Ratchet then explained that they were leaving because they couldn't risk anything happening to Earth or her. Swayed by his compassion, Sari used the Key to reactivate the Autobot ship's decommissioned weapons, reducing Blitzwing and Lugnut to pieces. Lost and Found (episode)

Eventually, Optimus Prime decided that the Key was no longer safe in Sari's hands, and he ordered Ratchet to take it from her. Distraught, Sari ran off crying, only to be captured later by Blackarachnia, who was looking for the Key herself. Sari basically told her "too little, too late," and the two seemed to have a heart-to-heart about their gripes with the Autobots. Megatron Rising - Part 1

While Sari was leading Blackarachnia in circles around the frozen Lake Erie, she was grabbed by Ratchet as he brought the Autobots' ship out of the lake. She was ticked that Ratchet had lost the Key and that her dad had helped rebuild Megatron, but the blame game ceased after the ship crashed on Dinobot Island. Prime told the Sumdacs to stay with the ship while they went to fight off Megatron. Fearing that they might die, Isaac Sumdac said that there was something that he needed to tell Sari, but she was more interested in finding something else the AllSpark could charge. The AllSpark refused to respond, other than cryptically displaying an image of a DNA strand. Suddenly, Megatron and Prime burst through the hull of the ship, and during their fight, the Key once again fell into her hands. Sari tossed it to Optimus Prime, who used the Key to partially destroy the AllSpark and disperse its energy. Acknowledging that he had been wrong in taking it from her, Optimus Prime gave the Key back to Sari, saying that since it was now the most powerful Cybertronian artifact in existence, it was too important to be left in the hands of an Autobot.

Unfortunately, all was not well, for Sari could not find her dad... as he was now a prisoner of Megatron. Megatron Rising - Part 2

After her father's disappearance, Sari took over running Sumdac Systems. Board chairman Porter C. Powell opposed her, saying that she was too young and wasting company resources searching for her father. When the Cybertron Elite Guard arrived, Sari was cut off from the Autobots and her only source of emotional support. She soon needed them, as police drones coming out of a Sumdac assembly line began to malfunction, and Powell was unwilling to do anything about it. Sneaking aboard the Elite Guard flagship, Sari put the fear of god into Jazz before Bulkhead explained that Sari was okay (and Bumblebee explained that Sentinel Prime was a jerk). With Optimus, Prowl, and Jazz's help, Sari managed to get into the plant's assembly line and shut down the systems. When she returned home, she found that she had been locked out of her office, as Powell was now CEO and Chairman of Sumdac Systems. Insisting that it was still her company, Sari was shocked when Powell revealed that she had no birth certificate, no adoption papers, and no social security number. Powell's smug revelation made Sari realize that not only was there no proof that she was Sumdac's daughter, there was no legal proof she even existed. The Elite Guard

After that, Powell kicked Sari out of Sumdac Tower, took Tutor Bot and Sparkplug, and gave her room to Henry Masterson as an office. With nowhere else to go, she went to Autobot headquarters. Bumblebee and Bulkhead tried their best to cheer her up, employing such methods as loud music, inedible food, and unedifying teaching lessons. All they did was make things worse. Eventually, Prowl put the two bots in their place and told them to listen to her. Sari opened up about all her frustrations, such as her missing father, being kicked out of her home, her fear of Powell ruining her father's company, and the fact that there was no record of her existence. Bumblebee promised that they were there for her, no matter what, and Sari finally started to feel a little better. The Return of the Headmaster

And then Ultra Magnus decided that the Autobots couldn't be there for her, as the Decepticons had begun attacking the fringes of Autobot space, so Prime's crew were needed elsewhere. The Autobots decided that Captain Fanzone was the best human with whom to leave her. (Granted, their list of known humans was rather short and included Prometheus Black and Nanosec.) Before anything close to adoption could occur, they managed to convince Magnus that there were Decepticons on Earth (mostly because Starscream fell out of the sky and landed about ten feet in front of them), allowing them to stay on planet. Mission Accomplished

Sari amused herself after settling in with the Autobots by hooking up illegal satellite TV, which she used to watch pay-per-view races. (The races were also illegal, as the Autobots found out from Fanzone.) When Bumblebee wanted to join the races to compete against a mysterious blue car, Sari came along with him. Sari discovered that man in charge of the races, Master Disaster, had a remote control containing an AllSpark fragment, which he used to control the blue car. Blitzwing showed up to take the fragment, so and Bumblebee had to run for their lives. Eventually, she used the remote to get rid of Blitzwing, allowing the Autobots to get the AllSpark fragment. After that, Bumblebee severed her satellite connection, saying that he had to set a better example for her. Sari advised him not to try too hard, or she wouldn't recognize him. Velocity

Sari was awakened from her night's rest by the loud cavorting of the "Constructobots". A game of flattened-oil-barrel frisbee severed her trademark pigtails, which left her none too pleased. Rise of the Constructicons Subsequently she proved that she was still more mature than Bumblebee in a number of ways, warning him off of taking on villains solo just to prove a point. Sadly he wouldn't realize this until the Decepticon behind the villains' success, Swindle was revealed. By then it was too late, and she had to team up with those same villains to take his immobilized chassis to Sumdac Tower. Alarmed that the receptionist robot was now declaring it to be Powell Tower, she utilized the Key to rectify that little situation before heading off and successfully disabling Swindle's technology jamming device. SUV: Society of Ultimate Villainy

A while after, Prowl and Sari were honing their agility using the factory's old assembly line. Sari claimed she could complete the exercise at full speed, like Prowl, but it was set to a quarter-speed, which proved to be too much for her at that and got a massive whack upside the head for her pains. After the Autobots discovered the return of the Constructicons, Sari was left at the base at the command of Optimus, who told reminded her that they had almost decapitated her the last time they met. Also, he doubted she would be able to take on a pair of two-story robots. At first Sari sulked at her situation, before realizing that she was completely alone in the base and did what any eight-year-old kid would do in an abandoned factory: raid the vending machines, use cranes as miniature G-force slings and try to take on Prowl's obstacle course at full speed (which went as well as last time).

While listening to her music, Sari failed to notice the alarms going off, which heralded the invasion of the Constructicons who were looking for a drink. After the two louts accidentally crushed her cell phone and left her with the option of sneaking to the communications room to call the Autobots for help, Sari decided—after a council of war with her teddy bear—to take on the two bots using her trusty hockey stick (which shatters soon after she strikes them with it). She escaped and made it to the communication room, contacting Bumblebee who told her to hide and wait until they finish fighting off the recently appeared Blitzwing, who was also looking for the Constructicons. Sari concluded that it would be too long and set up a trap for the two invaders, using three barrels of oil to trip them up and the plant's assembly line to knock them around for a while, forcing Mixmaster and Scrapper to flee. The Autobots returned to find the place in ruins, but Sari showed them that she was all right. Optimus both apologized for his previous comments and lauded her for her bravery, and all was well for Sari—if she could just explain away the mountain of candy wrappers Optimus discovered.... Sari, No One's Home

Sari later posed for a Picasso-style picture done by Bulkhead. The results were...interesting, to say the least. After criticism by the Autobots, a depressed Bulkhead walked out, and Sari and Bumblebee went to cheer him up. During a walk in the park, Megatron attacked them, carrying an imprisoned Isaac Sumdac with him, and Sari realized that Megatron had kidnapped him all those months ago. (Apparently, that hadn't occurred to anyone else.) While she looked on helplessly, Megatron managed to kidnap Bulkhead. When she returned to the plant, she heard the Autobot Blurr reveal that Professor Sumdac was helping the Decepticons build a space bridge to conquer Cybertron. Sari refused to believe that her father was willingly helping the Decepticons and got a promise out of Optimus Prime to bring him home alive. Heading to Dinobot Island, Ratchet and Sari worked to bring the Autobots' ship back online. Ratchet realized that they would need riskier repairs to bring achieve their goal. A Bridge Too Close, Part I

As Ratchet worked, he explained that the ship was an Autobot who had sacrificed his spark two million years ago. Sari was doubtful that it would come back online... until it spoke to her. She proceeded to use the Key on several of the ship's systems, under Ratchet's direction, until it was able to take off. Taking it to the mine where the Decepticons were based, Sari managed to give the ship enough power to transform into its robot mode, Omega Supreme. The massive Autobot turned the tide of the battle, but sacrificed himself to save the others from being sucked into the space bridge. The Autobots managed to escape, with both Sari and Isaac in tow, and Isaac revealed that he had been forced to work with the Decepticons. Overjoyed that her father was safe and still a good guy, Sari dubbed Isaac Sumdac the most honest and trust-worthy guy that anyone could hope to find. It was at that point that everyone assembled noticed that the skin on Sari's elbow had torn away, revealing robotic circuitry underneath. A Bridge Too Close, Part II

Although Sari was at first scared by this strange discovery, her fear quickly gave way to anger at her father for having kept the secret that she was a robot from her for years. As they returned to Detroit, Sumdac explained how he had found Sari in his lab years before, but the girl remained incredulous, and things only got worse when the pair confronted Porter C. Powell and Henry Masterson back in Sumdac Tower. When the two men refused to vacate the building, Sari's strained patience snapped, and her hands suddenly transformed into energy projectors, which created a shock wave that knocked the pair of do-badders into the elevator. Struggling to comprehend her true nature, Sari went with the Autobots to their headquarters, unable even to be in the same building as the man she could no longer even think of as her father. Optimus Prime did his best to patch up the damaged family relationship by tricking Sari into meeting with Sumdac at Burger Bot, but it wasn't until Masterson returned with his Headmaster unit attached to Starscream's body that the bonds between father and daughter were repaired, as Sari and Sumdac defended each other from the villain.

Sari quickly began to get a handle on her new Cybertronian abilities, learning to project beach ball-sized spheres of pure energy from her hands, but the Autobots still refused to allow her to accompany them into battle against a rock-like alien creature that had just transwarped into the middle of Detroit. Seeking a means to strengthen her abilities, Sari turned her Key upon herself and underwent a surprising metamorphosis: the key upgraded her into a teenager with a wide array of powers and battle armor.

Although Sari's new abilities amazed the Autobots when she made short work of the rock-alien, things soon started to go wrong, as the Key's energy began overloading Sari's circuitry, causing her to run out of control. Unable to control her own body and causing objects around her to explode with her merest touch, Sari nearly killed Bumblebee by stabbing him with one of her blades before the Autobots were able to remove the key from her system. Even with the Key extracted, Sari's energies were still running wild, and she was in danger of exploding and destroying the entire city before Ratchet knocked her out with his EMP generator. Once they returned to the Autobot base, he bypassed the circuitry responsible for her overload.

As Sari convalesced, her father at her side, Megatron returned to Earth in control of Omega Supreme. Optimus Prime was forced to contemplate undoing the repairs done to Sari and using her to stop the rampaging superweapon as a last-ditch desperation play. When Starscream took control of Omega away from Megatron and locked down all the entrance hatches to prevent the Autobots from infiltrating the robot (again), he came to the point of ordering Ratchet to do so. Fortunately for Sari's (and Detroit's) continued existence, Ratchet refused, and the Autobots ultimately transwarped the threat off Earth. Soon after, Sari awoke and apologized to her friends for her foolishness, while her father apologized to her for holding back the truth for so long. TransWarped

After convalescing, she was next seen on Christmas Eve, making some oilnog for the Autobots and warning them to stay off Santa's naughty list. When they went to bed early, thanks to a Sound Wave toy spiking the 'nog, she called them a bunch of party-poopers, but wished them a Merry Christmas and went home.

The next morning, she wasn't happy to receive another Sound Wave toy from her father, given what had happened with the last one, and was further disappointed when she was given a motor scooter rather than a car... until she found out that it transformed into a jet pack. Overjoyed, she transformed to her robot mode and flew off to show Bumblebee. When she arrived at the Autobots' base, she found it apparently deserted, and was further puzzled when the base's scanners showed their energy signatures in the factory itself. The appearance of a creepy robot bird, leading a number of Sound Wave toys from an elevator in the floor (which she'd not known about before), didn't help matters, so she used her palm blasters on them and took the lift down.

In the basement, she found the Autobots wired into a VR machine by a fully rebuilt Soundwave. With most of her weaponry offline, she was no match for him and his instruments when she tried to stop him. She was forced to retreat, promising to come back for her friends.... Human Error, Part I

While she was flying back to Sumdac Tower, Soundwave decided to take over the whole city of Detroit, using the small Sound Waves to carry his hypnotic tunes, since reprogramming the Autobots was taking too long. As such, she arrived back to find a Sound Wave toy blaring hypnotic music at her... and kicked it out of the way. Soundwave deduced that her techno-organic nature made her immune to the music, and he shifted focus to trying to force everyone else to kill her, starting with her father!

After reluctantly dropping a shelving unit on her dad to make her escape, she flew to Dinobot Island for help. Her initial foray met with little success, since Grimlock and his pteranodon comrade refused to help, tried to kill her, then left her alone when she blasted at them. Grimlock's mention that the third member of his group had been kicked out for becoming someone's "pet" raised her curiosity, though, and she soon found Scrapper, separated from the other two Constructicons by a big explosion, on the island's shore playing with "Snarl", and she managed to conscript the two into rescuing the other Autobots.

On their way back to the mainland on a makeshift raft, Wreck-Gar abruptly popped up from the lake's bottom and immediately became the fourth member of the troupe of Substitute Autobots. Once they were ashore, Sari's chaotic attempt to get them to transform and roll out nearly had them leave her behind, but it became moot before too long when Soundwave flew out of the ground, followed by the brainwashed Autobots. Initial attempts by her group at fighting them went badly, as the Substitute Autobots proved incapable of working at a team, while the zombie-Autobots acted as a single, elegant machine under Soundwave, and Soundwave could even control her own jet pack. Sari then changed tack, abandoning efforts to co-ordinate her group and ordering them to attack as individuals. Soundwave's single, elegant machine had trouble multitasking, apparently leading to Prowl saving Sari from death at Bumblebee's stingers in an attempt to deliver his own blow.

This lasted until, with four Autobots down, only Optimus Prime remained... whereupon Soundwave could concentrate on controlling just one Autobot properly. As a result, Sari was almost killed by the enslaved Optimus—but was saved again by Prowl, who openly revealed that he'd broken Soundwave's control in knocking Ratbat away from him. Shortly after, Soundwave was again shattered into many pieces, and Sari could once again concentrate on celebrating Christmas with her adopted family and her father. Human Error, Part II

When Bulkhead and her father belatedly completed the space bridge they'd been working on (after the purpose they'd been making it for had been accomplished), Sari objected that they would have gotten it working sooner if they'd let her help. They scoffed and went back to bickering about the final tweaks... so Sari took it upon herself to head over to the console, where her eyes glowed white, her hands separated into wires, and she finished the setup in seconds. When Optimus asked just how she'd managed that, she replied that she didn't know how, she just... had. Further, when Sentinel Prime sent an encoded message to Optimus that things had gone horribly wrong on the Elite Guard's ship, Sari managed to lock onto the transwarp signature of Swindle's personal storage dimension to get Optimus aboard, after Bulkhead wasn't sure it was even possible.

Later, after Swindle had departed the ship and Bulkhead wasn't sure he could retrieve Optimus, she claimed she could fix it and that she'd figured out why, guessing she must have upgraded her "processor... or brain or whatever" as part of her wider upgrade. However, putting it to the test wasn't necessary, as the ship dropped off Optimus at Sumdac Tower, safe and sound. Decepticon Air

When Optimus Prime abruptly decided he needed a jet pack of his own, Sari, along with Ratchet and her dad, was called into service to make it happen, which included Sari diagnosing a problem just by touching it. Endgame, Part I The flight pack soon got its baptism of fire when Megatron unleashed a trio of Lugnut Supremes on Detroit. Initially, Sari wanted to confront the giant Decepticons with Optimus and Prowl, but Optimus told her no. As she began to throw a hissy-fit about being kept back for her own safety again, he cut her off and told her he wanted her to help protect her "fellow organics" with the other Autobots. Embarrassed, she backed down.

Later, when Ratchet, Bumblebee and Bulkhead were about to depart for the Moon in an attempt to take back the original Omega Supreme, she insisted on transwarping there with them. Her worried father attempted to forbid her, but she told him that she knew there was something there she needed to do, and flew into the space bridge. Once there, Sari could hardly believe she was really on the Moon, but her amazement was soon tabled when Ratchet spotted Arcee, leading to the quartet being ambushed by Shockwave. While Bumblebee and Bulkhead held the shape-shifting Decepticon off, Sari and Ratchet headed into Omega Supreme's inactive body with the damaged fembot and found the lab Shockwave had been using. Although slightly freaked out by the female robot's mindless repetition of lessons for young Cybertronian 'bots, Sari was able to use her technopathy to tell Ratchet how to restore her mind. Shortly after Arcee came fully back online, Bumblebee and Bulkhead came in with news for Sari. They took her down into the hold of the Decepticons' ship, where several blank protoforms lay. Believing that this was where she had come from, Sari reached out to touch one of the protoforms, confirming for herself that there really had been a reason for her to be there.

Meanwhile, Ratchet and Arcee had broken Lugnut's hold over Omega Supreme and reactivated the giant Autobot, and Sari joined the others in flying back to Earth aboard the ship. As he fought with his purple duplicates, those inside were shaken about. After a particularly hard hit from the last clone standing, which forced Omega to transform to ship mode and crash-land, he checked that those inside were all right, whereupon Sari noted that "all Autobots, half-bots and almost-bots" were present and accounted for. Shortly afterward, Prowl gave his spark to shield the city from the last Omega-clone's detonation, and Megatron was defeated and arrested. Sari accompanied the Autobots back to Cybertron to share in their triumphant return and learn of her true origins. Endgame, Part II

After arriving on Cybertron, Sari remained in her "transformed" state and accompanied her Autobot buddies to the latest performance of Team Stunticon, where she and her friends were honored with a special box seat. The Stunti-Con Job
When Optimus Prime was framed for a break-in at HomeTech, Sari had the idea to break into the police station to look for clues. Teamed up with another kid, she was almost caught, but the Autobots rescued them at the last moment. The pair then entered HomeTech's laboratory to look for the security tape on which Prime's image had been captured, and they found a vital clue which led them to HomeTech's main warehouse. There Sari was interested in the Pixie-6 robots HomeTech was due to release, but was menaced by Blitzwing, the real perpetrator of the break-in. After being attacked by a rogue cleaning 'bot, she found Bumblebee, who revealed that Megatron had taken control of Detroit's fleet of robot workers and the Autobots had come up with a plan to keep the AllSpark safe, but the rest of the Autobots hadn't reported back. Ratchet's scans revealed the involvement of Lockdown, and Sari and her friend accompanied Bumblebee, Prowl and Bulkhead in an attempt to rescue their leader.
Sari was at the Autobot base when they decided to do some training, and offered up the services of her key to repair them if need be. She got a call from a Sumdac Systems factory, alerting them to the fact that the robots there had started going haywire, and accompanied Optimus, Bumblebee and Bulkhead to the plant to help them quell the robot resistance. She kept them updated on the drone problems, including when a bunch of them escaped, and let them know there were AllSpark fragments at the factory when they were in need of some to power up Megatron's Space Bridge.

After Bumblebee was accidentally left behind when Optimus and Bulkhead transwarped to Cybertron, she pointed him to some more AllSpark fragments. His fragments were stolen by Lockdown, so he and Sari had to hunt the bounty hunter down so he could get them back. Once they'd done so, they went to the Decepticon mine lair, and Bumblebee fought his way to the Space Bridge terminal. Though Sari was keen to see Cybertron, Bumblebee was responsible enough not to let her go, and she had to ride back to base on Prowl, an event sadly not visually recorded. After Optimus's team returned victorious from Cybertron, Sari enticed Bumblebee into some gaming by revealing she had a prerelease copy of Mage Master Maze Knight. Transformers Animated: The Game

* A promotional image of Sari from the Cartoon Network Transformers Animated press kit showed her with different shoes, a different Key design, and a slightly darker skin tone.
* In a preliminary version of the title sequence, Sari appeared riding on a tricycle which she used the AllSpark Key to transform into a jet pack. The footage was dropped from the finished credits, but was screened at conventions and was later included on the DVD packaged with the Optimus Prime and Megatron "The Battle Begins" action figure two-pack. The concept was later recycled as a Christmas present from her father in "Human Error, Part I"; instead of a tricycle, she has an orange scooter which transforms into a jet pack compatible with her robotic body. She may have been gone for four episodes, but now she can fly!
* Sari's pigtails do not grow back overnight... or do they?
* Sari has a transformation noise shared only with her scooter/jetpack, likely because of her rather unique origin.
* Sari did not appear for four episodes in season 3—between "Three's a Crowd" and "Predacons Rising"—after her almost-disastrous upgrade, the longest time she had been absent in the series. Well, considering the shift in focus... not to mention Sentinel Prime's presence on Earth for three of those episodes, perhaps it's just as well. He'd probably have totally freaked out as soon as he saw her.
* Ever since her "TransWarped" upgrade, she has what appear to be articulation lines on her sleeves and stockings/socks.
* Sari's hands can transform into several different modes, two of which pay homage to the anime Ghost in the Shell and Iron Man.
* From "TransWarped" onward, her eyes are an inverted version of Autobot eyes, with the lighter shade of cyan as the "whites" and the darker shade as the "iris".
* Despite the controversial Key being written out of the series, it can be argued that in the third season, Sari was slowly turning into a deus ex machina just like it in her own right, merely by virtue of "knowing stuff" crucial to the storyline (often without a proper explanation), as well as being able to diagnose mechanical problems merely by touching a given machine.
* Sari's Cybertronian nature was planned from the very beginning.
* Sari is one of two Transformers with a human alt-mode and is one of three techno-organic Transformers in the Animated continuity, the other two being Blackarachnia and Waspinator.
* In "TransWarped", Sari showed off her skills with twin white energy blades that came from her forearms and an energy hammer. After being knocked out by Ratchet's EMP, those weapons vanished for the rest of the series, leaving her with only her energy sphere-throwing attack.
* According to Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac II, Sari's post-upgrade weapons and tools include Master Blades (a reference to Grand Maximus's weapon in Masterforce), a Hyperspace Mallet, Azusa Skates (a reference to the Timelines starship), and a Skyboom Shield (which, like Sentinel's, is a reference to the Armada macguffin). She also uses Micron Boosters (borrowing the name from an out-of-universe product) to make powered jumps.
* Sari makes a cameo appearance in season 2, episode 5 of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.
Cody is turned into a grown-up during an experiment, which compromises his spot on the rescue team.

Synopsis
Chase and Chief Burns stand ready as a ship pulls in to the docks, as there's a shipment on it bound for Doc Greene's lab. The Chief is suffering from the flu and is sneezing everywhere. Miscreant troublemakers Evan and Myles are ready to try and steal the new equipment, and use a sonic device to knock Mr Bunty into the water. While Chief dives in after their victim, they swipe some equipment and speed off in their car. The Chief and Chase pursue, but the pair are sent spinning off a cliff when the two criminals drop oil on the road. Chase is able to cling to the side of the cliff and climb back up. With Chief increasingly sick, they return to the fire station so he can rest.

With Chief Burns in bed, Kade announces he's the new leader. The Rescue Bots discuss what's wrong with the Chief, and Chase tries to interest anyone in the mucus sample he's acquired. The discussion is interrupted by the news there's a ruptured gas line. Cody attempts to go along, only to get told by Kade he's too small. Heatwave is unimpressed by Kade's insistence on beating Cody at arm wrestling before they head out. When they reach the site of the mess, Kade tries to order everyone around, though they pretty much already know what they need to do.

Cody heads up to Doc Greene's lab, where the Doc and Frankie are assembling the parts that weren't stolen into a stasis machine. They explain that it will freeze objects in time, but there's as a part missing, it won't work. Cody plays with the remote, accidentally triggering the device, which abruptly ages him to an adult. Doc Greene realizes that it's a result of the machine being incomplete and they may need the missing part back to reverse the aging, though he might be able to improvise something. Cody's just excited that he's finally an adult.

Back at the fire station, the Rescue Bots and Cody's siblings are surprised at Cody's new state. They're soon called out to another emergency, and Cody insists he's now old enough to come along, with Kade forced to concede. They fins a rocket tangled in power lines, the result of an experiment by a Mr Cullen. With the rocket still full of fuel, Cody switches the power off so Blades can lift it free safely. Unimpressed with Cody's feat, Kade assigns him to crowd control, though this results in Hayley becoming interested in this attractive new member of the Burns family. Unfortunately the attempt to retrieve the rocket goes wrong when it falls, and everyone takes cover from the explosion. Hayley asks "Cole", as he's calling himself, to lunch. An argument between Cody and Kade ensues, and Cody goes to hang out with Frankie.

Doc Greene is having no luck recalibrating the stasis machine, so Cody and Frankie try to play basketball, but the height disparity makes the match one-sided, so Frankie goes back inside to help her dad. Cody finally comes to the realization he needs to be a kid again. Meanwhile Myles and Evan have their eyes on the rest of the stasis machine and are aiming to break into the lab. Chase attempts to stop them, but they blast him with their sonic ray. Cody smashes the weapon out of their hands with a basketball, and when they're confronted by the Greenes and Trex, they flee.

Cody and Chase are pursue the pair, but are held up by first a crosswalk and then some inconveniently placed crates. Heatwave and Kade manage to pull alongside the two thieves, only to be blasted by their piece of the stasis ray, resulting in Kade being deaged into a child. While everyone is amused at the effect, after Kade has a quick change of clothing, they chase the two criminals around the dock. Kade tries to drop a box on them, only to be too small to pull the release lever, but it provides a distraction so the Rescue Bots can surround them. Evan and Myles ditch the stasis machine piece, which Boulder saves from a watery grave, and attempt to hide in a box. Unfortunately for them, Chase simply slaps a lid on the box so Blades can lift it up and carry them to prison.

Doc Greene announces with the missing piece, he should have the machine working properly within the hour. Chief Burns walks into the station saying that he's feeling much better, only to see adult Cody and kid Kade arm wrestling, at which point he announces he's going back to bed.
Notes
Continuity errors
*The Settlers' Bell is absent from the lighthouse during the opening shot!

Continuity notes
*Mr Bunty is named for the first time. He previously had a reasonably-sized "guest" role in "Flobsters on Parade".
*Evan and Myles were previously arrested in "The Haunting of Griffin Rock".
*Heatwave uses the water cannon energize tool that comes with his toy to put out a fire.
*Blades refers to Lad Pioneers.
*Mr Cullen's rocket was seen visible next to a house (presumably his) during season 1, and prominently appears on the show's title sequence.
*This episode takes place on a Saturday, as Dani notes.
*Trex was turned into a guard dog in "Return of the Dino Bot".

Real-world references
*Doc Greene refers to Frankie as his "young Tesla."
*It's a fair bet Mr Cullen's name is a reference to Optimus Prime voice actor Peter Cullen.
*Chase asks Evan and Myles if they're "familiar with the human known as Miranda." Given Chase's voice actor D.C. Douglas has a prominent role in the Mass Effect games which also feature a human named Miranda, it's not impossible this is a double-reference.

Trivia
*Kade wants a two mile perimeter clear of pedestrians? How big is Griffin Rock anyway?
*Not only does the stasis machine make Cody older, it also gives him a perfectly-formed mustache but no beard.
She called Cody Burns over to where they were, but proceeded to be too interested in the new robot dinosaur exhibit at the museum to pay any attention to the new robots. The next day she was in the parade when the festival was attacked by flobsters.
When a ghost was reported, Frankie decided it was a perfect time to try out the Spectral Vapor Filter her father had invented, and gave one to Cody. She recognized one of the ghosts as Elma Hendrickson and realized that they were all people in pictures in the Hall of Inspiration, eventually leading to the unmasking of the ghosts as holograms. Afterwards, she put the holograms back to their original purpose as a historical display. The Haunting of Griffin Rock For her school multimedia project, she decided to make a film and roped Dither into helping. That led her to try and get the Rescue Bots to help. She ended up trying to film them during an earthquake rescue, resulting in her having to be rescued at least once. When she later went back to the fire station to get her props, she heard the team going into the tunnels under Griffin Rock and followed them, getting caught in a cave in. Heatwave came to her rescue and almost blew his cover as an ordinary robot, but she had passed out. She later showed the team the music video she'd created, though none of them were sure how much she'd found out. Shake Up
Unfortunately during the test, she, Cody and the Rescue Bots were pulled back in time to 1939 where they encountered Doctor Morocco and Elma Hendrickson. The two kids escaped Morocco's clutches and Frankie set about tracking down Dither, who was the key to getting them home. After finding him in a junk yard, the pair mounted a rescue mission for the Rescue Bots, during which Frankie discovered the truth about them. With the help of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, the group escaped back to present day, only to find Doctor Morocco was in charge. It's a Bot Time In the strange altered present, the two kids employed some detective work to find out they'd accidentally changed history by leaving Dither in the past. Now knowing the Rescue Bots' secret, Frankie introduced Blades to dance video games. Francine attended the dedication ceremony for the town's new robotic rescue team with her father. She called Cody Burns over to where they were, but proceeded to be too interested in the new robot dinosaur exhibit at the museum to pay any attention to the new robots. Frankie looked forward to riding on her dad's float in the Lobster and Technology Festival parade. She watched in alarm as her father had to be rescued from a runaway helium balloon. The next day she was in the parade when the festival was attacked by flobsters. :Slipstream is a Decepticon from the Aligned continuity family.

Slipstream is a female Decepticon who fought on Cybertron during the early days of the Autobot/Decepticon war. She is a Seeker who specializes in sarcasm and stinging insults hidden behind a thin veneer of humor. Starscream finds her relatively unreadable.

Fiction
Aligned novels
While she was not mentioned by name, she was most likely at the battle with Omega Supreme, as only three of Starscream's Air Commanders survived the battle.Transformers: Exodus

Slipstream was one of the Seekers who served on the bridge crew of the Nemesis alongside Starscream, Thundercracker and Skywarp. Although she remained true to the ideal that Seekers stick together, that didn't mean she respected Starscream any more than he deserved.

When the Decepticons eventually tracked down the Ark on the planet Junkion, Slipstream was part of the aerial strike on the Autobots as they attempted to repair their ship. Later, she returned to the Nemesis as Megatron attempted to use the ship's tractor beam to pull forth the mythical Requiem Blaster from Junkion's core. They attempted to graft the Blaster to the Nemesis hull. The only problem was Optimus Prime hopped aboard the craft right at the base of the Requiem Blaster. Megatron dispatched Slipstream and the Seekers to knock Prime loose before he caused any more trouble, but their efforts to avoid hitting the Blaster itself made it a perfect shield for Optimus on the hull. Slipstream and Optimus Prime soon fought hand-to-hand, and Prime eventually sent an invitation to Megatron by blasting Slipstream into unconsciousness... and causing her to land right on the window screen of the ship's bridge.

As Megatron learned the location of the Allspark and prepped the Nemesis for departure, Starscream remarked that Slipstream had not returned to the ship after suffering her injuries in battle with Prime and the Autobots. Megatron merely shrugged, and the Decepticons apparently left Slipstream behind on Junkion, just as it was being torn apart. Her current condition is unknown. Transformers: Exiles
: The second toy sent out in the first year of the Transformers Collectors' Club's "Figure Subscription Service", Slipstream is a new-head retooling of Prime "First Edition" Starscream, transforming into a jet resembling a General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon. She comes with two "Alternating Gyro-Power Nullifier" missile pod accessories that can either attach onto tabs on the underside of her wings, or onto the rear wings on her arms in robot mode. Additionally, she has a 5mm peg hole that goes through each arm, which become the sides of her jet mode tail. This allows accessories with the same size peg to be used in either mode.

: Her instructions give her robot mode the slightly-hunched posture of Starscream, but there is an "official" mis-transformation. Fun Pub's images of Slipstream show that her back should be kept straight, with her forearms left unextended (which gives her some funky elbow articulation) and, for a little extra difference, her knee-spikes left folded against her shins.

: This mold was differently retooled to make Prime Skywarp and Thundercracker.

Notes
* Slipstream's AGP (Alternating Gyro-Power) Nullifier weapons are a very clunky nod to the 1988 Nullifier G.I. Joe figure, who drove the AGP (Anti-Gravity Pod).
* Her toy's bio is fairly careful to not explicitly label her as Prime Slipstream, but does make thinly-veiled meta-references to her being out of place thanks to the Aligned continuity being... "separate" from the rest of the Transformers multiverse.
* Slipstream's jet model, along with Starscream's, is reused in Fall of Cybertron as various generic Seekers, easily identifiable during the attack on the Autobot transport.
:Optimus Prime is the Autobot leader from the Robots in Disguise continuity family.

Optimus Prime is a stern and serious commander, devoted to protecting freedom and innocent life. He has seen the galactic path of conquest and destruction already burned by Megatron and swears it will not include Earth. Optimus Prime often finds himself in the role of "straight man" to the more comic stylings of the other Autobots and Predacons, and tends to treat their humorous exaggerations or personality quirks as statements of straightforward fact. His subordinates view him as a great leader, if stubborn and much too prone to long speeches. Optimus Prime's greatest weakness is his sense of nobility. If an adversary claims to have had a change of heart and discovered inner goodness, Prime will fall for it every single time. But once he finds out he's been had, they'd better watch out!
Optimus Prime was created, along with Ultra Magnus, by Alpha Trion during the Golden Age. The two of them were raised together, and thus, saw each other as brothers. However, this relationship was torn apart after the Cybertron Civil Wars, whereupon the Matrix chose Optimus Prime to command the Autobots in stopping the Predacon leader Megatron from ravaging the universe in his quest for energy. Ultra Magnus left Cybertron that same day, bitter and spiteful of his brother. Ultra Magnus: Forced Fusion!

Prime soon struck up command on Earth, where he took the form of a fire truck. Operating out of a secret base in Metro City, he and his fellow Autobots were more than ready to face Megatron and his Predacons. The conflict began when Megatron appeared in New York, attempting to kidnap the famous scientist Doctor Kenneth Onishi. Optimus struck up a friendship with Onishi's son, Koji, and despite not being able to save the boy's father, vowed that he would help rescue him. Battle Protocol!

Optimus later took Koji to see the Autobot base, during a series of Predacon attacks on trucks around Metro City. New Predacon Sky-Byte turned out to be after a terrorist device hidden in a sports car. With the bomb on the verge of exploding, Optimus converted to his battle mode and used his power stream to blast the shark and the bomb safely into space. An Explosive Situation The launch of the Linear RFG bullet train was also a clear target for the Predacons, and Optimus ordered the Autobots to provide an escort. Sure enough, the Predacons destroyed a bridge ahead, and Optimus aided Team Bullet Train in stopping the train before disaster occurred. Bullet Train to the Rescue

Together with the Autobot Brothers, Prime prevented the Predacons from stealing the Plutonium Energy Generator stored in a Metro City warehouse. When the generator was later moved, the Predacons made a second attempt, but Prime was content to sit back and watch the Spy Changers go to work in foiling the quartet. Spychangers to the Rescue

A distress call from Koji sent Optimus and the Autobot Brothers to a location in the sea near Metro City. Using the Global Space Bridge, the Autobots made the leap out to a stricken ship, which was under attack by the Predacons. Prime fought with Sky-Byte, discovering that the shark had the edge while underwater. Once the ship was righted, the Autobot Leader quickly beat the Predacon into a withdrawal with his Fist of Steel. The Hunt for Black Pyramid Prime suspected that an attack by Megatron and the Predacon trio in the middle of Metro City was a diversion, and this was confirmed by an SOS from Side Burn, who was exploring Native American ruins. After Prime had traveled to the ruins and fought off Sky-Byte, the Autobots found a microchip, hidden there by Doctor Onishi. The Secret of the Ruins

Following Side Burn's kidnapping by the Predacons, Prime responded to the ransom request... by turning up alone and promptly being captured himself. Megatron began beating on the bound Optimus, until Prowl, X-Brawn and the Spy Changers mounted a stealth rescue. The prisoners freed, the Autobots turned on the Predacons and chased them off. Sideburn's Obsession When Koji reported a Predacon attack on the D-512 Stanwich Steamer, Optimus coordinated the Autobot defense from home base. After Midnight Express's last minute rescue of the train, Optimus held Koji up so that the boy could film the steam engine. Secret Weapon: D-5

Optimus was not very worried about Mirage having apparently defected, stating that he was an Autobot and a member of the elite Spy Changers. Mirage's Betrayal Optimus has the Autobots all enter the International Grand Prix in order to try and find Skid-Z, a recently arrived Autobot who had scanned a racing car and become possessed by the urge to compete in races. Unfortunately the Predacons decided to enter the race too, and partway through, Optimus and the Autobot Brothers found themselves holding up a huge rock dropped onto them by Megatron. Fortunately Skid-Z himself turned up and destroyed the rock, allowing them to chase Megatron off. Skid Z's Choice

Another new recruit, Tow-Line went rogue and began towing away random Autobots to an unspecified location. Prowl and Optimus finally managed to track Tow-Line down, correcting the damage to his circuits done by the Predacons, and rescuing their fellows. A rousing battle ensued, with inevitable defeat for the Predacons. Tow-Line Goes Haywire A Predacon investigation of the Cave of the Dragon lead Optimus and Midnight Express to dress up as a huge statue to chase them off. The ruse worked, and Optimus discovered that the cave did contain something of interest — an O-Part! The Ultimate Robot Warrior Concerned at recent Predacon activity, Optimus called the Autobots back to HQ to review previous missions. Hope for the Future

Lead by Doctor Onishi's microchip to Castle Peak, Prime and the Autobot Brothers found the Predacons digging up a derelict Autobot spacecraft. The ship contained six protoforms, which Megatron promptly stole, whisking them away to nearby Army Base to be formatted into Decepticons. During the fight at the base, Kelly attempted to flee in a fuel tanker, and was saved by Optimus from plunging into a crater. The last protoform scanned Optimus and the tanker at the same time, resulting in Scourge, a Decepticon resembling a twisted clone of the Autobot leader. The Decepticons The Decepticons' first mission was to attack Sherman Dam, during which Optimus managed to stop them from detonating explosives planted on the dam, and clashed with Scourge. Commandos

More activity lead Prime and the Spy Changers to Montrose Island, where they clashed with the Decepticons and Sky-Byte. With the volcano in danger of erupting, Optimus froze the crater with his Blizzard Storm attack, but was occupied fighting Scourge to do any more. He pinned Ruination, allowing the Spy Changer to use their Inferno Blast to divert the erupting lava to the sea. Volcano The Decepticons had Movor fired into space to try and locate the Autobot base from orbit, by observing Autobot movements. Optimus had Side Burn go to Pier 7B, where an ambush had been arranged. Prime's battle with Scourge was largely won by the fact that Movor kept firing on the pair from space and accidentally hitting Scourge. Attack from Outer Space

Prime hoped that Scourge and his fellow Decepticons would one day be restored to their true Autobot selves, and in fact at one point Mega-Octane met with Optimus Prime, claiming that the Decepticons wanted to defect. Just as Optimus was about to show the Decepticons to the Autobot base, Sky-Byte attacked. Scourge's strike at the Predacon would have incurred a human casualty, had Optimus not deflected the sword blow with his Flying Fist, and the trick was revealed. Enraged with disappointment, Optimus glowed with power as he fought off the Decepticons. The Test (episode)

Optimus took part in countering a series of attacks on power plants, The Fish Test and arrived in Antarctica in time to help the Build Team defeat the Decepticon and Predacon forces. Wedge's Short Fuse He also helped the Build Team reach the space bridge computer after the Decepticons sabotaged it. During the subsequent battle in the Arctic, he was content to let Landfill face Megatron alone, as a matter of honor. Landfill (episode)

Sky-Byte and his Predacons attacked the CGA Tower during its opening, apparently holding the humans inside hostage and demanding that Optimus Prime bring him the O-Parts. Optimus headed for the scene, but was cut off by the Decepticons. His haste resulted in him speedily dispatching Ruination with one shot from his Blaze Blaster, before hurrying to the tower. After a further battle with Scourge, Optimus helped stabilise the tower so that Landfill could create a new foundation for it. Sky-Byte Saves the Day After the Decepticons began a vendetta against the Build Team, Optimus ordered the Build Team not to get involved — but they did anyway, battling Ruination underground. Prime reached the location after Landfill had defeated the Decepticons in a huge fireball, and extinguished the four Autobots. A Test of Metal

Matters escalated when Ultra Magnus appeared on Earth, making his desire to take the Matrix from Optimus Prime known to his "brother". Optimus confronted Magnus, inviting the Autobot to join his team, but Magnus refused and challenged Prime to a duel. Ultra Magnus (episode) Optimus refused to fight Magnus, and was thus mercilessly fired upon, until Side Burn, Prowl, and X-Brawn arrived to carry him away. Prime took refuge on a deserted island, but the Decepticons, Megatron, and Magnus all tracked him there. In the midst of the battle, Magnus forcibly activated their ability to combine into Omega Prime, intending to use it to drain Prime of his energy so he could take the Matrix, but Optimus managed to take control and use their combination to stop the Decepticons. Ultra Magnus: Forced Fusion!

Optimus took time out to review footage of the Autobots' recent missions. Lessons of the Past After the Decepticons captured the Autobot Brothers, Optimus confronted them, but was unable to fight back under threat of the brothers being killed. Despite being pounded on by the Decepticons, Optimus was fit enough to combine with Ultra Magnus once the three brothers were freed. The Two Faces of Ultra Magnus Optimus came to the Autobot Brothers' rescue himself when they experienced an odd power drain during battle. He fought Ruination and Scourge alone until Ultra Magnus arrived to lend a hand. Power to Burn!

During the search for some ruins under Metro City, Optimus Prime monitored things from base. He joined his men when they found Fortress Maximus hidden in the ruins, and helped fight the Decepticons off. Fortress Maximus (episode) While the Build Team concealed Fortress Maximus, Optimus kept Scourge busy, fighting the Decepticon beneath the city. Koji Gets His Wish He turned up in the Sahara Desert after the rest of the Autobots had collected all of the O-Parts, in time to fight off Megatron. A Friendly Contest

Combined into an orb, the O-Parts lead Optimus and the Autobot Brothers back to the Sahara, and a pyramid located in a cavern beneath the sands. There they battled with Megatron and the Decepticons over the Orb of Sigma. Once again, Omega Prime was formed in order to battle Megatron, and at the end of the battle, only the Autobot was still standing. Peril from the Past Though the Autobots gained the location of Cerebros, the key to activating Fortress Maximus, Cerebros was snatched from their grasp by the Decepticons. Optimus lead his men in attempted to protect the titan, but Scourge managed to succeed. Fortress Maximus proved impossible to control, and began rampaging across the city. The return of Megatron, in a few form as Galvatron, complicated the battle, and even Optimus and Ultra Magnus combined into Omega Prime were unable to stop the devastation, until Koji managed to command Maximus to stop. Maximus Emerges

Clashes with the Decepticons and Fortress Maximus in a desert The Human Element and a forest were largely unsuccessful, but internal ructions in the Decepticon ranks eventually resulted in the Autobots managing to gain control of Cerebros. Mistaken Identity When the Decepticons discovered the location of the Autobot base and mounted an attack, Optimus took Cerebros, leading the Decepticons through Metro City to an ambush in a more remote location. Prime and Magnus combined into Omega Prime once again, but found they were ineffective against the power of Galvatron's Megastar, and were forced to sit back and watch as Fortress Maximus dealt with the battle station. Surprise Attack!

Galvatron had survived the confrontation and began draining power from Fortress Maximus. When Omega Prime confronted him, he responded by using cyber-bats to enslave and threaten the world's children. Prime was forced to call a retreat through the space bridge, which gave Galvatron the opportunity to trap them there and flood the tunnel with lava. As Optimus was overcome by the lava, Koji's words inspired him to escape and confront Galvatron once more. Galvatron's Revenge

Though Galvatron seized the rest of the Autobots in an energy field, Optimus escaped and combined with Ultra Magnus. Omega Prime challenged Galvatron one-on-one at the Earth's core. He was seemingly no match for the Decepticon leader, until Fortress Maximus sent his power, which energized the Matrix, forming the giant weapon, the Matrix Blade. Galvatron was defeated, and with that, the Autobots' mission on Earth was finished, and Prime resolved to return to Cybertron—but not before "one last look around" with Koji and the rest of his team. The Final Battle (RID)

Ultra Magnus...to the Rescue?
With the other Autobots all engaged in other fights around the world, Optimus Prime alone was available to answer T-AI's battle protocol at an experimental nuclear generator in Arizona. His opening plan was to lure the Predacons and Decepticons away from the humans to battle them at a safe distance, but his wayward brother Ultra Magnus intervened, confronting the villains head on in the middle of the generator plant. As Prime chastised Magnus for his rash action, Scourge overheard and seized on the idea to threaten the humans if the Autobots didn't stand down. Despite his anger at Optimus, Ultra Magnus remembered his Autobot training and reluctantly laid down his weapon. At the proper moment, though, the brothers managed to attack a distracted Scourge and save the humans. The Predacons and Decepticons escaped with the generator, but the humans were safe. Ultra Magnus...to the Rescue?
After turning in Galvatron to the proper authorities, Optimus Prime enjoyed the time following by studying various lifeforms and their environments on other planets throughout the universe. During this vacation, his weapons systems were upgraded considerably.

However, his skills were inevitably needed once again on Earth when evil threatened the planet. He formed the Dimensional Patrol from the ranks of the Autobots who had stayed behind on Earth, as well as additional experts in transwarp technology, to defend the planet from those who would do it harm via the "temporal and spatial nexus" in Earth's proximity. Unfortunately, Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, and several members of the Dimensional Patrol were abducted by Unicron. : The original Takara Car Robots release differs from the Hasbro version in that it has a darker, metallic-flake plastic, red chrome eyes for both modes and has no Autobot symbols tampo-printed on the shoulder pads. Obviously, the voice clips used for the Japanese toy are also different, although the English clips are essentially translations of the Japanese ones (with the Hasbro toy incorrectly proclaiming that Optimus Prime's transformation into super mode uses the code-phrase "maximize"). Additionally, the Hasbro version has the unfortunate tendency for its rubber tires to split down its molding connection. Furthermore, Fire Convoy's missiles are of a different mold on the Japanese toy. The toy’s ladder features a trigger that flips all four of his missile launchers forward into firing position when pressed. On Fire Convoy, pressing this trigger causes all four missiles to immediately launch (if by "launch" you mean "be-flung-up-into-the-air-and-fall-to-the-ground-instantly") when they flip forward, whereas the Hasbro toy removes the auto-fire feature, allowing them to be launched one-at-a-time via individual triggers. Unchanged from the Takara release, the tires feature the name "FIRE CONVOY" instead of "OPTIMUS PRIME".

: By some bizarre twist of fate, the standard robot mode has four Mini-Con ports on his arms before they were used in Armada.
: Also known as "Super Fire Convoy Black Version" and "Dark Super Fire Convoy", this black repaint of the Optimus Prime figure featured a golden chrome chest, and clear sirens. It was available only as a prize in several contests held by Takara: 15 units were available as prizes in a raffle held in TV Magazine in July; 400 were raffled off in a drawing that involved sending in coupons that came with the Car Robots DVDs (200 from October to December 2000, and 200 more from March to May 2001); and an undetermined amount were offered in a scratch-card contest also held by TV Magazine.
An unknown number of units were raffled off as part of the "Convoy Car Robots Campaign" between June and July 2000, while 15 were available at drawings held at Tokyo's Seibu Department Store between the 15th and 28th of August.
He was sold with Ultra Magnus, a repackaged Super Universe Ultra Magnus. He transforms into a Japanese Hino Brandlier fire truck. Harkening back to Generation 1 toys, he features chromed wheels with rubber tires. The forward section of his truck detaches to become his standard robot mode. His 'trailer' can be reconfigured into a sort of battle station. The station can then be disassembled and attached around the robot to form his Battle Mode.
Titanium Series
* Optimus Prime (6" Cybertron Heroes, 2006)
**Accessories: Display stand, nameplate

: Titanium Series Optimus is a six-inch tall die-cast metal and plastic version of Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime. In vehicle mode the ladder rotates at its base and the nozzles flip out of the end of the ladder, but the ladder cannot extend. As he is much simplified compared to the larger toy, the (largely hollow) front of the vehicle cannot separate and form the standard robot mode, nor can the rear of the vehicle form the battlestation. Instead, the entire fire truck transforms into a simplified version of the super robot Battle Mode. His legs unfold like the original Super Mode's forearms do. On this version of Optimus, panels on his forearms pop up and reveal small, non-firing sculpted guns.

: His ladder can be detached, as can his arms. Oddly enough, the ladder can connect to his shoulder joint, but only on the detached arms. This is very bizarre, as his arm and ladder don't do anything when connected. He also has some strange ports around his body that seem to do nothing.

: This mold was also used to make Titanium Series Hot Zone.
A super deformed Super Fire Convoy is seen peeking over the side, and a miniature Gelshark bath toy is in Ai-chan's hands.
Notes
* According to the first Car Robots toy catalog, Optimus and his Autobots are part of a "Dimensional Patrol" that followed the Predacons from another dimension. This seems to have been only vaguely alluded to in the Japanese version of the show—Fire Convoy proclaimed in the first episode that he would follow Gigatron wherever he went, "even if it's to the edge of the universe"—but does not seem to have played a large part of the main story, to the extent that the Robots in Disguise dub was able to omit it entirely. However, the 3H supplemental materials for the Universe series re-established the idea, presenting the "Dimensional Patrol" as a post-cartoon organization.
* The first Car Robots catalog also stated that Fire Convoy and Gigatron were once "childhood friends" that became eternal rivals. We don't really have any idea how that was supposed to work.
* Fans in Japan joke that Optimus Prime is an Autobot Emperor of Destruction rather than an Autobot Supreme Commander, due to his actions in the Car Robot anime.
* For this incarnation of Optimus, voice actor Neil Kaplan specifically impersonated the voice of the original Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen. Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime is one of the few Optimuses (two as of 2008) whose English voice actor isn't Cullen or Garry Chalk. At conventions, Kaplan refers to himself as "the George Lazenby of Optimus Primes".
* Cybertron "Multi-Pack" Optimus Prime's on-package bio seems to indicate he's Unicron Trilogy Optimus Prime. However, his (and Magnus') deco was later used in the Fun Publications Cybertron fan club magazine comic as Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime having traveled to the Unicron Trilogy universe.
* Optimus Prime's Super Mode chest resembles the chest of EnRyu from King of Braves GaoGaiGar, another Takara series. EnRyu also transforms into a fire truck with a similarly positioned "ladder cannon".
*This is the first incarnation of Optimus not to be killed off at any point during his series. Possibly due to the fact that he is not intended to be Optimus Prime in the original Car Robot series.
*Optimus was left out of the 2010 Transformers Hall of Fame video tribute to Optimus Prime(s).
Various reproduction methods for the Transformers species have been demonstrated across various continuities.
Mechanical construction
Sometimes, new Transformers are simply built from scratch, and that's all it takes. A suitable Transformer body is constructed, and when finished and turned on, it just springs to life.
Dinobots}}War of the Dinobots when the Constructicons turn an Earth city into Trypticon, Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5 and when the temporarily super-intelligent Grimlock creates the Technobots. Grimlock's New Brain

The Dinobots are initially very simple mentally and are ordered to be deactivated because they are too dangerous. Wheeljack then develops a set of crown-like devices to place on the Dinobots which greatly enhances their intellect, although they are still "dumb" and child-like compared to the other Autobots. The Technobots, on the other hand, are immediately fully functional, and some of them are even smarter than average Transformers. If one were to take these facts as canonically meaningful (rather than simply the whims of the writers of those episodes), it could be guessed that programming a functional Transformer brain from scratch is extremely difficult, such that even Wheeljack is not up to the job. Temporarily super-genius Grimlock may be the only one capable. However, one must also note that the Dinobots were built and programmed to be as similar to dinosaurs as possible, including the limited intelligence; the Technobots, however, were built by Grimlock with intelligence in mind, as it was the only way to counter Abominus' brute power.

At least on the surface, this "built from scratch" approach runs counter to claims in other episodes of the show that Vector Sigma is needed to create new Transformer life. (See below.) However, since Vector Sigma is presented as being a supercomputer and not a "magical" device like the comics' Creation Matrix, it could fall in with the speculative statements above regarding Grimlock and Wheeljack. Perhaps Vector Sigma is simply an advanced enough computer that it is capable of constructing a working mind.

Cybertronians are created through at least two methods: they are either "Forged" or "Constructed Cold."

Forging was the natural way for Cybertronians to be created. An energy pulse from Vector Sigma would flash across the world, igniting a hot spot where new sparks would emerge from the planet. There would be great rejoicing and ceremony, and the sparks and base substance - the "sentio metallico" - would be sought out and harvested from the living metal of Cybertron or its moons. The harvested sparks would then be further nurtured and matured via unknown processes. Remain in Light 1 of 5: The Fecund Moon The full nurturing and maturation process can be completed in less than two weeks after the spark's first flash. Remain in Light 5 of 5: This Calamitous Life

Cold Construction, aka Spark Splicing, was a method created later when Nova Prime learned natural spark creation was slowing. He created it as a way of bolstering the population. The general population was told that it functioned through splitting a Forged spark to create a new life. Remain in Light 1 of 5: The Fecund Moon Remain in Light 3 of 5: The Divided Self That's the official story. Actually, Nova realised that soon there would be no new pulsewaves and panicked: no new sparks means not enough Transformers to create a grand galactic empire. Under the "spark splicing" cover story, Nova's scientists (headed by Tyrest) tapped into the Matrix itself and bled it to create new sparks. Thousands of sparks a day were created, with cold-constructed bodies to house them. This only stopped after the Matrix was pinched. Remain in Light 3 of 5: The Divided Self The spark splicing program was shut down after this, although the real reason for the discontinuation was a closely guarded secret. By the time of Nominus Prime's assassination, Senator Shockwave had made repeated lobbies to resurrect the spark-splicing program. An Intimate Beheading

After the disappearance of Nova Prime, negative feelings about cold construction led to apartheid against "knock offs", with some city-states 'proving' that they were substandard. Remain in Light 1 of 5: The Fecund Moon Religion was brought into it: the fact that many of the best medics were forged (due to the fluidity and dexterity of their hands) was taken as proof of the god Adaptus. Life After the Big Bang By the time Megatron was first arrested, the apartheid was officially considered a thing of the past, cough cough. Chaos Theory Part 1

Some naturally-born sparks are "Point One Percenters" (about 0.01% of the population), with abilities greater than than the average Transformer. Known "Point One Percenters" include Overlord Remembrance Day, Minimus Ambus, and Roller Remain in Light 3 of 5: The Divided Self, while Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Scorponok, and Shockwave are implied to be. Remain in Light 1 of 5: The Fecund Moon
Insecticons Shrapnel, Bombshell, and Kickback are created by Decepticon scientists after many failed attempts. The failed attempts lived on and were collectively known as "the swarm". The Transformers: All Hail Megatron
Infusion
In other stories, once a new Transformer body has been built, it must still be infused with life (what the fiction from the Beast era and after would gloss as a spark) from a "god-like" outside source. In the Generation 1 cartoon, this source is Vector Sigma; in the Marvel comics, it is the Creation Matrix, which houses the essence of Primus, the Transformers' creator-god. In the Beast era cartoons, sparks arrive from the Allspark, perhaps through Vector Sigma. (In many continuities, each Transformer's life force is a fragment of Primus's own.) The live-action movie continuities function with the AllSpark being the source of infusion as well, though in that case, "living" and "sentient" are not quite the same thing. (See: Mutation.)

In the Transformers Adventure Game Book "Desert of Danger", Hot Rod refers to his creation after the Ark left Cybertron as when he was "matrixed". How exactly this would have happened if Optimus Prime was aboard the Ark with the Matrix at the time is unknown, but one option might be the Matrix Flame.

The Matrix Flame is an artifact which allows Transformers on Cybertron to access the power of the Matrix even when it is no longer on Cybertron. Literally a flame, it is used to breathe life in the super warrior Ultra Magnus in the UK comics. The flame is somehow linked to the Matrix, and when the Matrix is transported to another dimension during "Target: 2006", the flame goes out, forcing the Autobots on Cybertron to investigate.

The Dreamwave More than Meets the Eye guide provides yet another method of infusion. According to the guide's entry on protoforms in issue #8, in the Dreamwave Generation One continuity, Transformers generally begin life as a skeletal mass of partially formed circuits—a Protoform. These are kept in stasis pods filled with nurturing nutrient gel. They can be built to certain specifications or be fairly general, allowing the robot to form naturally upon introduction of a spark. Sparks, and hence life, usually come from the Matrix, BUT, if the Matrix is absent, life can be granted by attuning the protoform to an energy wavelength similar to the Matrix and then applying a concentrated burst of energon. This alternative is rarely used, as it is extremely resource-consumptive, requiring restrictively high amounts of energon.

The Movie continuity's AllSpark works by infusion as well, just on an even more impressive scale. It is capable of infusing any inanimate machine with life and simultaneously altering its structure so that it is capable of transforming into a Cybertronian-style robot. The AllSpark fragments spread across Detroit in the Transformers Animated continuity show the same ability to alter non-living machines into new Transformers (as well as unrelated powers like slowing time and remote controlling other Cybertronians.) Although, outside of the toy biographies for certain characters, the AllSpark in the movie merely creates non-sentient, animalistic life-forms out of ordinary machines, rather than fully developed Cybertronians, suggesting some kind of evolutionary development towards sentience.
Resurrection
Though not quite the same as reproduction, a copy of the mind or essence of a previously living Transformer may be introduced into a new body and, through some vague process, return that Transformer to life. This occurs when Starscream creates the Combaticons in the Generation 1 cartoon, and in the comic when Prime uses copies of the minds of existing Cybertronians to create the second-series Autobot cars on Earth. Another example from the comic occurs when Optimus Prime himself is returned to life merely by inputting a human's floppy disk copy of his mind into a new body.

A variation on this theme is Unicron's ability to create new Robotic life. In the cartoon continuity, Unicron rebuilds Megatron into Galvatron, though it is unclear if these are the same being. Less ambiguous is the creation of Cyclonus, Scourge and the Sweeps from the apparently dead remains of Skywarp, Thundercracker and the Insecticons. In Marvel comic book continuity, Unicron exhibits a similar ability, fashioning three servants named Hook, Line, and Sinker from the remains of non-Cybertronian robots attempting to flee him. Some fans have speculated that the creation of the Technobots by super-genius Grimlock was aided in some fashion by Unicron's presence.

In his ending to the Beast Wars Transmetals video game, Ravage uses "a prototype cloning device, based on transreplication technology" to clone the deactivated Generation 1 Decepticons on the Ark into new protoform bodies, thus reviving them without altering the timeline (and erasing himself) by effectively doubling each robot.

This is included as a means of reproduction because it seems likely from the dialogue that the Autobot cars created via copied minds by Prime on Earth still existed on Cybertron when he left, meaning that if they survived the intermediate 4 million years, two of each of these individuals now exist.

In the Unicron Trilogy story "Linkage", Redline and Falcia combine energy from their spark frames in order to create a new body for the mind/soul of Twirl to inhabit after her Mini-Con storage panel is destroyed in battle. This leads to an interesting relationship between Twirl and Falcia. (See "Familial relationships", below.)

Budding
The Transformers: Generation 2 comic introduced the concept of asexual "budding". Bubbles and lesions of apparently liquid metal form on a robot's chest, accompanied by energy discharge. The process grows more intense, until a large mass of liquid metal bursts free from the chest and slowly forms into a protoform-like blank figure, and then solidifies into a full Transformer. Illustrations suggest that this is something of a communal event, with others surrounding the budding robot in a circle.

It was revealed that (in the Marvel continuity at least) early Transformers reproduced this way until they reached the population level Primus desired. At this turning point, the practice stopped and all memory of it was erased. When the Cybertronians (possibly under influence of the Liege Maximo) rediscovered and revived the process sometime during the 4 million years after the Ark's loss, the successive generations of robots produced were increasingly less sentient and emotional (as Primus's lifeforce was apparently spread thinner and thinner between them), and the lifeform called the Swarm was created as a byproduct.

It is established here that Transformers do have genetic material (the Transformer equivalent of DNA) within their cellular structures. (Yes, they also apparently have cellular structures—who knew?) This genetic material is passed down from "parent" to "child" through budding. Its make-up is seen in the picture at left. (Apparently, its design is not taught in the Transformer equivalent of high school Biology, as Megatron does not recognize what he's looking at until Perceptor explains.) This genetic material and basic Transformer cellular structure is also passed to the Swarm. Later, in IDW continuity, Transformer genetic material is given the designation CNA, and it is what is altered by the malevolent Jhiaxus to create female Transformers.

The other notable fact is that Transformers who have undergone the budding process retain some sort of primal link to their offspring, thus even though they are galaxies apart, the Generation 1 Decepticon Onslaught doubles over in pain when his descendant Mindset is destroyed, and the Liege Maximo says he would know if his descendant, Megatron, were to die.

Sexual reproduction
Despite most continuities having male and female genders (gender being a mental and social classification, as opposed to "sexes", a physical distinction) and a definite, strong history of transformer romance existing between these genders, there is little canonical evidence for Transformers reproducing sexually. (Though admittedly, there isn't a lot of direct evidence for humans reproducing sexually in most Transformers media, which is, after all, aimed towards kids.)

In the Generation 1 cartoon, the male Transformer - female Transformer romance could perhaps be explained as an artifact of Quintesson mental programming very closely echoing the organic life forms the Transformers were built to serve.

On only two occasions in Generation 1 do we get a hint of male and female Transformer romance leading to the formation of family units and the creation of offspring. The first is subtle: Wheelie's backstory in some versions mentions his crashing on Quintessa with his parents. The second is more explicit: At the end of the Japanese Victory manga, we find out that Deathsaurus and his forces have been fighting all this time for the sake of their/the families living on top of the Planet-Destroying Fortress, among which the Dinoforce's children. Awww.

Apart from this, the best case for sexual reproduction in the species could probably be made from Beast Wars, where Rattrap makes numerous off-color remarks throughout the series, especially directed at Silverbolt and Blackarachnia. These comments strongly hint at something sex-like among Transformers, though it could, of course, be merely recreational rather than reproductive.

It is unknown what effect the Beast Machines reformatting of Transformers into technorganic beings, which are equal parts organic life and mechanical structure down to a cellular level, has on their reproductive options. It is conceivable but unexplored whether this new form of Transformer life could reproduce sexually.

During a dream-like vision, Blackarachnia and Silverbolt meet in an ethereal state, and the two appear to "merge" their sparks, which may be as close to sexual intercourse as Transformers get, perhaps a more spiritual act than physical.

The 2007 motion picture once again brings up questions about the possibility of a less-than-mechanical form of reproduction. The first and most obvious of these implications comes from Ratchet's less-than-tactful observation of "the boy want[ing] to mate with the female." Although his grasp of the concept could stem merely from a familiarity with organic species in general, Optimus Prime's mention of Megatron killing their father, in some related material, does suggest Transformers have some understanding of family units. In the fourth issue of Revenge of the Fallen, Rampage refers to Sam's parents as his "protoform batch initiators." Make that of what you will.

In the Transformers Animated continuity, it seems clear that Transformers do not reproduce sexually. Optimus Prime appears stunned when Sari tells him where human babies come from, and later brings up the inconsistency when Sari's own origins are revealed.

On the flip-side, in IDW continuity, female Transformers are specifically created by Jhiaxus. By altering fundamental CNA, Jhiaxus introduced gender to the species from a malevolent curiosity about what would happen. The depth of the change in this case is unknown; is it limited to appearance and mentality or does it go deeper? If he was truly trying to see how females would affect the evolution of the species it is possible Arcee was created with the capability for some analog of sexual reproduction in mind, but given his abandonment of the experiment and Arcee's resultant unbalanced mental state it seems unlikely the depth of the change will be explored.

In the Transformers: Prime episode "Darkness Rising, Part 1", Arcee joked with Ratchet, asking him if he had heard that humans multiplied. Ratchet was expecting her and Bumblebee to bring back two humans. When they brought back three, Arcee had implied that the teenagers had reproduced since then.

Familial relationships
One confusing aspect of this apparent lack of sexual reproduction is the canonical use of genealogical terminology to describe certain relationships. The most common of these is when two Transformers regard each other as siblings: "brothers" (e.g. Generation 1's Sideswipe and Sunstreaker or Robots in Disguises Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus) or "sisters" (Roulette and Shadow Striker).

Again, the Dreamwave More than Meets the Eye guide provides a partial possible answer. According to the guide, when a spark naturally splits as it's being introduced to a protoform, it creates two robots who are "brothers", such as Sideswipe and Sunstreaker. When such a spark division is artificially induced, the pair created are referred to as "clones". (This definition of "brother" may or may not apply to RID Prime and Magnus, whose brotherhood was said to result from the special circumstance of having been created simultaneously by Alpha Trion).

However, the "Beast Era" widened the issue of reproduction with Rattrap referring to his "great-aunt" Arcee and in general the practice of Maximals and Predacons referring to the Autobots and Decepticons as their respective "ancestors", as well as themselves as being their "descendants", implying a direct genetic (for want of a better term) lineage. Various sources of debatable canonicity suggest that Optimus Primal is specifically descended from Optimus Prime, usually through the phrase "[his] ancestor Optimus Prime".

In the absence of sexual reproduction, the use and meaning of these genealogical references is difficult to explain. One possible explanation might be a situation such as when Airazor is brought to life in Beast Wars. Her spark and protoform are heavily damaged, and Cheetor allows some of his parts to be used as replacements while Rhinox guides the procedure. To compare to humans, this is something like assisting with childbirth and donating blood or organs. It is unlikely that this happened enough to cause "descendants" as they are described, however. The term may also be used in an ideological sense or even a technological sense, much as the CD or MP3 player is, in a way, a "descendant" of the gramophone.

Other family designations exist as well. Wheelie has "parents" that were lost in his crash on Quintessa, according to some background material. The aforementioned Mini-Con Twirl very specifically calls Falcia her "mother" (which Falcia hates) and seems to treat Redline like a father, since the two's spark frame energies went into constructing her physical form. In the Armada cartoon, Side Swipe refers to Hot Shot as his brother after Hot Shot saves his life, suggesting at least an understanding of the concept; on the other hand, the Armada cartoon is originally Japanese, and in Japan, "brother" and "sister" can be used as terms of affection or respect to an unrelated person. The Unicron Trilogy universe has also used the term "cousin" for certain Transformers on occasion. The Japanese Generation 1 Victory manga features Decepticon wives and children. Even the live-action movie features an Optimus and Megatron who are brothers, and it is mentioned in the related Nintendo DS game that Megatron "took the spark" of their father.
In the real-life continuity, when two toy manufacturing companies love each other very much, one of them may start shooting Transformer design propositions to the other one. There, during several months of gestation, engineers will work on those designs, which will be developed into functional and manufacturable Transformers. Once the Transformer is ready to be produced, its design will be sent to marketing and ultimately to the chain manufacturer for the delivery. Voilà! A new Transformer is born!
