==Synopsis==
While a storm rages, [[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]] and [[Starscream (WFC)|Starscream]] fly down from the ''[[Trypticon (WFC)|Nemesis]]'' to the entrance of a mine. This feeling "[[Rock Bottom|uncomfortably familiar]]" to Starscream, he reluctantly follows Megatron inside and immediately begins playing down his "[[Thirst|latest indiscretion]]". Megatron furiously reminds Starscream that his actions cost them the entire [[Insecticon (Prime)|Insecticon]] hive, prompting Starscream to beg for his life. Megatron sighs wearily and proceeds deeper into the mine, which Starscream finally realizes is [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]]'s off-site laboratory. The lab contains dozens of cloning tanks, each with a [[Predacon (Prime)|Predacon]] floating motionless within. Shockwave reports that the clones have almost fully evolved, and will be combat-ready in three solar cycles.

On Megatron's order, [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]] travels down from the ship in a lift while [[Predaking (Prime)|the Predacon]] watches intently. Arriving in the cave, Knock Out presents his [[Synthetic Energon|synthetic energon]], which Shockwave states he will examine after the deployment of the Predacon army. They are interrupted by the Predacon, who emerges from the shadows with a roar. Starscream hits it with a pipe, and the beast responds by transforming into robot mode and threatening some physical violence in return. Starscream and Megatron are both shocked by this, but Shockwave notes that [[Transformation| transformation]] is a fundamental part of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertronian]] biology; they simply had no way of knowing the Predacons ever reached that evolutionary stage before becoming extinct in the [[Great Cataclysm]]. The Predacon stares at his brethren in the tanks and says he will no longer be alone. He apologizes to Megatron for keeping his abilities a secret, claiming he only became aware of them recently. He says he has no memories prior to arriving on Earth, and learned what he was from the databanks of the ''Nemesis''. Megatron tells him he is unique, a miracle of science. The Predacon looks back at the clone tanks and regards them in silence.

At their base, the [[Autobot]]s are chafing under [[Ultra Magnus (WFC)|Ultra Magnus]]' command. He pressures [[Ratchet (WFC)|Ratchet]] to finish his synthetic energon experiments, chides the Beast Hunters for taking a breather between scouting missions, and demands to know what the returning [[Wheeljack (Prime)|Wheeljack]] was doing outside the base. The Wrecker surprises him by revealing that he's been recalibrating the engines on [[Ultra Magnus's ship]] to increase their efficiency. [[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus Prime]] returns from his reconnaissance mission and the Autobots flock to him, happy to turn their attention from Ultra Magnus. Optimus sees this with a note of sadness.

Aboard the ''Nemesis'', the Predacon pledges his loyalty to Megatron and requests to be put in command of the clone army, taking the name Predaking. Megatron conceals his wariness of the former beast's newfound ambition.

Alone with his command staff, Megatron voices his concern that Predaking and the Predacon army can and will turn on them. The only thing they can do to prevent it is destroy the clones. Shockwave agrees, but Knock Out asks what will happen if Predaking finds out. Starscream, no stranger to treachery, suggests that the Autobots be used to do the deed, and thus draw Predaking's wrath.

Ultra Magnus is watching human soldiers run drills outside the base when Optimus Prime asks what's troubling him. Magnus has finally realized that [[Team Prime|Team Prime]] isn't taking to his command style. Optimus reminds his old friend that they're not the [[Cybertron Elite Guard|Elite Guard]], and have in fact grown into something greater than an army. Before he can say what that is, Ratchet announces that their scanners have located exposed energon. Optimus declares that they must investigate, due to their own short supply.

A squadron of [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]]s are standing vigil outside an energon mine when Optimus and the [[Wrecker]]s appear and order them to surrender. The Vehicons open fire, but are quickly cut down by the Wreckers' forward advance and the Stealth Team ([[Arcee (WFC)|Arcee]], [[Bumblebee (WFC)|Bumblebee]], and [[Smokescreen (Prime)|Smokescreen]]) attacking from the rear. Optimus orders the Wreckers to reconnoiter the mine while the Stealth Team transports their energon spoils back to the base. Joined by an eager Smokescreen, the Wreckers investigate the supposed energon mine, growing suspicious about the lack of energon signals or additional security. Ultra Magnus orders them to split up, with he and Wheeljack going in one direction and Smokescreen and Bulkhead in the other.

Ultra Magnus and Wheeljack come across Shockwave's laboratory and the rows of cloning tanks. Shockwave is working at a computer console when he notices them, opening fire briefly before contacting Starscream. Starscream says he didn't reveal that his plan was already in motion, just so that Shockwave's surprised reaction would be genuine. Starscream terminates the link. Knockout knows exactly why Starscream staged his plan this way, and received a less than subtle confirmation. Shockwave contacts Soundwave to open a [[GroundBridge]]. Before fleeing, Shockwave triggers an electrical surge that travels through the cloning tanks, causing the liquid which keeps the beasts in stasis to drain out.

On the ''Nemesis'', Starscream reports that the Autobots have taken possession of the Predacon clones. Megatron orders him to scramble his seeker armada, but Predaking says that he alone will confront the enemy that threatens his brethren.

Dozens of Predacons begin to stir as the stasis fluids drains from their tanks. Wheeljack notices a cache of synthetic energon in the corner of the room and, with Ultra Magnus' blessing, tosses a grenade at it. The Autobots transform and drive away at high speed, but come to a stop as Predaking, in robot mode, GroundBridges right in front of them much to their surprise. Ultra Magnus, seeing the symbol on Predaking's chest, identifies him. Just then, the laboratory behind them explodes in a massive fireball.

On the surface, Bulkhead and Smokescreen emerge from the mine just as the ground is shaken by the explosion. Optimus Prime stares at the mine with a grave expression.

Predaking, meanwhile, stares in horror at the charred remains of Shockwave's lab. With a roar, he attacks the two Autobots, his powerful blows sending them flying through the air. Wheeljack mounts a brief and successful counterattack, but Predaking quickly regains the upper hand, until Ultra Magnus lays into him with the [[Forge of Solus Prime]]. Magnus and his hammer buy Wheeljack time to recover, and the two Autobots launch a powerful combined attack that ends when they bring a colossal stalactite crashing down on the Predacon. But Predaking merely lifts the stalactite off him and uses it as a weapon to knock Ultra Magnus to the ground and crush Wheeljack against a wall. Magnus reaches for the Forge, but Predaking jumps up and lands on his hand, smashing it underfoot until the Autobot's fingers are nothing but ruined scrap flattened into the ground. Wheeljack laments that he was just starting to tolerate his commander, and Ultra Magnus responds by saying it was an honor to serve with him. Predaking snaps the Forge in half. He makes ready for the killing blow when Optimus Prime flies in and sends the Predacon sprawling. Optimus unleashes his gatling gun on the cave ceiling, raining rubble down on Predaking and allowing him to grab his wounded comrades. Optimus flies them out of the mine with Predaking in close pursuit, and is able to make it through a GroundBridge before a blast of flame makes contact. Predaking roars in rage.

Ultra Magnus comes back online to find himself on Ratchet's operating table while the medic cauterizes the jagged stump of metal that remains of his hand. The other Autobots are gathered around, with Wheeljack musing that Magnus fought like a Wrecker. Ultra Magnus asks Optimus what he was referring to earlier that could be greater than an army. Optimus says that it is a human concept called family.

On the ''Nemesis'', Starscream and Knock Out can barely stifle their amusement as Megatron promises Predaking that they will make the Autobots pay for what they've done. From his lab, Shockwave confirms that the clones are beyond salvaging, but says that there's something in the ruins Megatron must see. Megatron and Starscream GroundBridge down to it and are stunned to find a large quantity of pure Cyber Matter, like that which once existed on ancient Cybertron, and which more recently created the Decepticon [[Darkmount (Earth)|citadel]]. Shockwave theorizes that it was created when the explosion mixed the [[CNA]] of the Predacon clones with Knock Out's synthetic energon.

* The use of the ''[[Trypticon (WFC)|Nemesis]]'' itself to transport large stores of synthetic energon to Shockwave's laboratory seems a poor tactical choice, given the high visibility of such and the need to keep both assets in the same location. Each is powerful and relentless in its own right; en masse, their persistence and Dark Energon they radiate can sap the strength of their Autobot prey until they can pull it down and tear it apart. When [[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]] returned, he wished to test the then-theoretical property of [[Dark Energon]] to revive the dead. It worked, to an extent. Cliffjumper was reborn as a screaming beast, and he promptly destroyed two Vehicons before leaping at Megatron. Megatron commented that the creature before him was no longer an Autobot and sliced the Terrorcon Cliffjumper in half with his claw. The half with the head remained alive, and it attacked [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] when she tried to rescue it. {{storylink|Darkness Rising, Part 2}}

Megatron realized the potential for brutal, undead warriors from the encounter with Cliffjumper and decided to use the Dark Energon more extensively. When [[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus Prime]] realized that the substance they were dealing with was Dark Energon, he and [[Ratchet (WFC)| Ratchet]] put two and two together and realized Megatron was up to something, that something being raising the dead. Eons ago, there had been a war on Earth after the smuggling of Energon to the planet. Since Cybertronian bodies do not decompose, there were some still buried in the ground. Megatron appeared to Optimus Prime and Ratchet in a large canyon and threw a chunk of Dark Energon into the ground, which promptly began to glow bright purple, as did Megatron himself. The ground opened up, and undead robots crawled out from the cracks, brandishing the same deadly weapons they'd carried in the previous war. {{storylink|Darkness Rising, Part 3}}

Despite being outnumbered, Optimus and Ratchet were able to dispose of the Terrorcon horde, only to be informed by Megatron that this was merely the prelude to his main event. That event, they soon discovered, was raising the countless dead on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] itself. {{storylink|Darkness Rising, Part 4}}

Unfortunately for the Autobots, Megatron was already a step ahead of them in implementing his plan, since he already had a working [[space bridge]] and a ship to get to it. The Autobots used their [[GroundBridge]] to reach the space bridge, but failed to stop Megatron from throwing his supply of Dark Energon through, raising the entire deceased population of Cybertron. Starscream later used a shard to attempt to revive the slain [[Skyquake (Prime)|Skyquake]]. ==Synopsis==

In [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]]'s lab, [[Starscream (WFC)|Starscream]] bemoans his current situation, having to compete with [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]] for [[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]]'s favor. His whining is interrupted by moans from [[Silas|Cylas]], who is strapped to a table and begging to be freed. Knock Out injects him with a derivative of the [[Synthetic Energon|synthetic energon]] he recovered from the [[Autobot]]s. The compound drives Cylas into a rage, which Knock Out notes is one of its erratic side effects. Starscream sees in Cylas' fury the makings of a super-soldier for Megatron.

Starscream attempts to inform Megatron of this discovery, but the [[Decepticon]] leader is only interested in discussing the status of the [[Predacon (Prime)|Predacon]] [[protoform]]s with Shockwave, who is reporting in from his off-site lab.

Cylas becomes more enraged with each new injection of Synth En. Knock Out discovers that the more the compound is administered, the faster Cylas burns through his own natural [[energon]] reserves. Starscream cannot see the use of having [[Predaking (Prime)|another]] unruly beast that can't be controlled, but then has an idea: [[Dark Energon]]. Knock Out objects, noting that the Dark Matter once turned their own ship against them. Starscream assures the doctor that controlled exposure will merely place Cylas under Megatron's command, via their leader's symbiotic link with the substance.

Under orders, Knock Out injects Cylas with Dark Energon. Cylas temporarily powers down before rebooting in a rage and breaking free from his bonds. But after only a few steps, he crumbles to his knees, desperately low on energon. Then with a fierce roar, his lower jaw splits into monstrous mandibles and a long, bladed tongue emerges. He attacks, sending Starscream and Knock Out fleeing down the halls of the ship.

Once a safe distance away, Knock Out suggests sounding the alarm. Starscream disagrees, not wanting Megatron to learn of their actions. He claims that once Cylas attempts to feed upon the ship's highly-trained [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]] troopers, they will take care of the threat.

Elsewhere, one of the Vehicons stumbles upon Cylas, who grabs the highly-trained trooper and begins draining his energon.

Starscream and Knock Out plan the disposal of Cylas' corpse when they find the Vehicon's corpse instead. While the two argue about who's to blame for their predicament, the dead Vehicon rises as a reanimated [[Terrorcon (Prime)|Terrorcon]] and reveals the same segmented jaw and bladed tongue that Cylas had. Starscream's blaster fire has no effect, nor does destroying the Terrorcon's head, as the tongue continues to protrude from inside its chest. A final volley of blasts destroys the monster's revitalized spark, severing its link to the Dark Energon.

Knock Out posits that Cylas could infect the entire crew in the same manner, a theory that's borne out when they find themselves surrounded on all sides by energy-draining Terrorcons. Starscream and Knock Out lock themselves in a room to get a breather and assess the situation. Accepting that this may be the end, the two Decepticons exchange final pleasantries and step back into the hall…

…right into Megatron, who demands to know why the Dark Energon in his spark has been acting funny. Starscream provides a slanted explanation, but Megatron doesn't believe it until he's forced to destroy an attacking Terrorcon.

After a more extensive debrief of the situation, Megatron puts the ship on high alert and orders Starscream and Knock Out to destroy Cylas. Around the ship, Vehicons and [[Insecticon (Prime)|Insecticons]] battle the infected Terrorcons.

Cylas wanders into the ship's vault. Sensing energon within a [[stasis pod]], he breaks it open, freeing and reviving [[Airachnid (Prime)|Airachnid]]. Cylas attempts to drain her energon, but Airachnid is able to immobilize him with webbing long enough to deliver a killing blow. She immediately re-establishes her telepathic control over the Insecticons and commands them to return to her. Their sudden departure is noticed by [[Soundwave (WFC)|Soundwave]].

Starscream and Knock Out discover Cylas' corpse. Starscream is elated until Knock Out points out Airachnid's destroyed prison, followed by Megatron demanding a status update.

Airachnid leads the Insecticons through the halls of the ship, ordering them to wipe out every Decepticon aboard. At the end of the hall, Soundwave calmly steps forward to face them. The bug-bots attack, and Soundwave opens a [[space bridge]] directly in front of him at the last second. Before they can react, Airachnid and the Insecticons are teleported to another location. As the bridge closes behind her, Airachnid realizes that they have been sent to a moon orbiting [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] and screams in rage.

Aboard the ''[[Trypticon (WFC)|Nemesis]]'', Megatron contacts Shockwave again to inform him they're implementing his containment protocol to prevent further outbreak. He also tells Shockwave to speed up the Predacon cloning project, as they have now lost more than half their military forces.

Back on the moon, an infected Airachnid drains the energon from one of her minions as the rest of the Insecticons line up obediently to await their turn.

When a butterfly lands on [[Boulder]]'s face, the Autobot instinctively goes to shoo it away, but is stopped by [[Heatwave (RB)|Heatwave]]. However, Cody's suspicions are already raised. When Cody jumps up and knocks on Boulder's foot, he's told to get lost by [[Huxley Prescott|a reporter]]. The press photos are interrupted when word comes in of a fire at the Natural History Museum.

Burns and his rescue squad head to the museum, although [[Dani Burns|Dani]] discovers her helicopter doesn't seem to like flying too high. [[Chase (RB)|Chase]] begins clearing the humans from the area, though is confused when a couple of Egyptian mummies fail to comply. [[Graham Burns|Graham]] is bemused when he tells Boulder to move some planters and the Autobot responds that it would ruin the aesthetics. They manage to get the fire out, and Graham locates the cause: a short in one of the robotic dinosaurs. While he's fixing it, Cody sneaks into the museum, having followed the team on his bike. He's therefore present to witness Heatwave saving Chief Burns and Graham from a falling dinosaur head. Burns explains it as Heatwave having been left in rescue mode, and [[Kade Burns|Kade]] is glad to take the credit. As they leave the museum, the eyes on a short-circuiting [[Trex|animatronic ''Tyrannosaurus rex'']] light up ominously!

That night, back in the fire station, the Rescue Bots take a lift down to a [[Cold War (history)|Cold War]] bunker underneath the station. Upstairs, Cody excuses himself from dinner with his family and heads downstairs, where he catches the Rescue Bots complaining about their new gig. Heatwave has just decided they're going to leave when Cody speaks up. The Rescue Bots realize their cover is blown, but after introductions are made, Cody shows them that there are many tunnels leading around the island from the bunker. They check out a giant robot movie at a drive in, and Cody attempts to teach the Rescue Bots how to act like "real" robots as well as give them tips on dealing with his siblings. Lessons are brought to a halt when they spot the robotic ''T. rex'' from the museum, now rampaging along the street. As it moves into the drive-in, Cody gets Chase to start his lights, and they establish the thing is attracted to light. They begin leading the creature to a safe area while Cody contacts his dad.

Burns takes the rest of his family in the old squad car, and they soon catch up with the Rescue Bots as the chase moves outside town. While they try to work out how to deal with the rogue dinosaur, Cody calls Frankie. Soon Boulder is extracting a jail cell from the police station, which Dani and Blades fly to the scene. Meanwhile, Chase keeps the ''T. rex'' occupied, and Kade and Heatwave wet some ground to make mud. Kade is shocked when Heatwave transforms, attracts the dinosaur's attention, and then throws it into the mud. Dani lowers the makeshift cage over it, allowing Cody to shut the dinosaur down.

The next day, they return the dinosaur to the museum, and Burns decides to get a picture of "his heroes" outside. After Heatwave tells Kade that Cody's part of the team or the Rescue Bots leave, Chief Burns reveals that they're not just robots, they're aliens.

[[Graham Burns|Graham]] is bemused when he tells Boulder to move some planters and the Autobot responds that it would ruin the aesthetics. They manage to get the fire out, and Graham locates the cause: a short in one of the robotic dinosaurs. While he's fixing it, Cody sneaks into the museum, having followed the team on his bike. He's therefore present to witness Heatwave saving Chief Burns and Graham from a falling dinosaur head. Burns explains it as Heatwave having been left in rescue mode, and [[Kade Burns|Kade]] is glad to take the credit. As they leave the museum, the eyes on a short-circuiting [[Trex|animatronic ''Tyrannosaurus rex'']] light up ominously!

That night, back in the fire station, the Rescue Bots take a lift down to a [[Cold War (history)|Cold War]] bunker underneath the station. Upstairs, Cody excuses himself from dinner with his family and heads downstairs, where he catches the Rescue Bots complaining about their new gig. Heatwave has just decided they're going to leave when Cody speaks up. The Rescue Bots realize their cover is blown, but after introductions are made, Cody shows them that there are many tunnels leading around the island from the bunker. They check out a giant robot movie at a drive in, and Cody attempts to teach the Rescue Bots how to act like "real" robots as well as give them tips on dealing with his siblings. Lessons are brought to a halt when they spot the robotic ''T. rex'' from the museum, now rampaging along the street. As it moves into the drive-in, Cody gets Chase to start his lights, and they establish the thing is attracted to light. They begin leading the creature to a safe area while Cody contacts his dad.

Burns takes the rest of his family in the old squad car, and they soon catch up with the Rescue Bots as the chase moves outside town. While they try to work out how to deal with the rogue dinosaur, Cody calls Frankie. Soon Boulder is extracting a jail cell from the police station, which Dani and Blades fly to the scene. Meanwhile, Chase keeps the ''T. rex'' occupied, and Kade and Heatwave wet some ground to make mud. Kade is shocked when Heatwave transforms, attracts the dinosaur's attention, and then throws it into the mud. Dani lowers the makeshift cage over it, allowing Cody to shut the dinosaur down.

The next day, they return the dinosaur to the museum, and Burns decides to get a picture of "his heroes" outside. After Heatwave tells Kade that Cody's part of the team or the Rescue Bots leave, Chief Burns reveals that they're not just robots, they're aliens.

The '''Decepticon Civil War''' is not a single conflict but something that has repeatedly happened whenever there have been leadership disputes among the Decepticon army. It differs from the usual punch-up between disputing leaders in that the Decepticon Civil Wars involve conflicting ''groups'' of Decepticon soldiers.

Sometimes they're really quick, sometimes they last for a long time, and neither time do the clashing leaders solve things with a coin toss.

A brief conflict, this was engineered by [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] to allow him a shot at the [[Underbase]]. The Earth-based Decepticon platoons under [[Ratbat (G1)|Ratbat]] and [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] had been acting independently of each other. Scorponok's attempts at contact were covered up by Starscream, though his commander Ratbat seemingly had little interest in working together, what with him trying to locate the all-powerful [[Underbase]] at the time.

Unable to delay Scorponok's arrival further, Starscream "welcomed" him and his crew to Ratbat's base. An already tense situation was worsened by Starscream's "accidental" revelation of the Underbase's existence, sparking off off a brief and violent conflict. It reaffirmed that [[Buzzsaw (G1)|Buzzsaw]] is slagging nasty.

The battle ended when Starscream stole [[Semper Tyrannis|Scorponok's ship]] to seek the Underbase for himself, making both sides realize they'd been played. {{storylink|Cold War!}}

Only by surrendering to the Autobots and thus forcing them to protect him (while he walked off) did Scorponok even survive. The [[Throttlebot|Throttlebots]] are under attack from the [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticon]] Vortex. Although they are able to fight Vortex off with the help of Blaster riding Chase and Rollbar like roller skates, they attract unwanted human attention. When the Throttlebots stop for fuel at a Blackrock service station, the owner is able to report them to awaiting [[Rapid Anti-robot Assault Team|RAAT]] troops, who immediately attack. Although the Throttlebots are able to escape from RAAT, the battle gives Vortex the opportunity to track the Throttlebots once again. Meanwhile, Grimlock sends the [[Protectobot (G1)|Protectobots]] to retrieve Blaster and Goldbug.

Unable to refuel, the Throttlebots stop at a used car lot for the night. When the owner, [[Big Steve Ludwig (G1)|Big Steve Ludwig]], tries to have the damaged Rollbar towed, the Throttlebots reveal themselves to Big Steve to stop him. Big Steve promptly reports the Throttlebots to the authorities and fills the Throttlebots' fuel tanks with soda to immobilize them.

When RAAT arrives to collect the Throttlebots, they are intercepted by the Combaticons, who intend to destroy the Throttlebots themselves. The Protectobots soon arrive on the scene and prepare to do battle. Big Steve attempts to save his lot by proposing that the opposing teams bid on who gets to take the Throttlebots. The auction is short-lived, however, as Onslaught radios Swindle, commanding him to kill Big Steve. Blaster sees Swindle prepare to fire and manages to throw off Swindle's aim just in time. The battle starts anew, and in the confusion, RAAT manages to take the Throttlebots away.

The Combaticons eventually retreat, and Blaster ensures that Big Steve doesn't get to profit from his friends' misfortune by destroying a check RAAT had paid him for the information leading to their capture. Blaster is then arrested by the Protectobots for rebelling against Grimlock's command. He is to be returned to the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] to be tried and executed...

In the year 2006, the Predacons were dispatched to [[Jupiter]]'s moon, [[Io]], to stop a marooned Autobot team from reaching Earth with [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]]'s [[transformation cog]]. Arriving on the moon, Razorclaw ordered his fellow Predacons to attack before charging himself. Chasing after [[Blurr (G1)|Blurr]] in beast mode, Razorclaw nearly fell into a ravine when the Autobot shot him in the face as he attempted the jump. Grabbing hold of the side with his foreleg, he dragged himself up and rejoined his teammates to merge into their combined form, Predaking. Unfortunately, the mighty [[Sky Lynx (G1)|Sky Lynx]] soundly defeated the giant, scattering him into the Predacon component members. Razorclaw ran off, to the protests of [[Headstrong]], when Sky Lynx fired upon him. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5}}

The Predacons were among the Decepticon forces on the planet [[Dread]]. When a group of Autobots arrived, Razorclaw and Rampage attacked [[Kup]], until [[Grimlock]] grabbed him by the mane and tossed him away. When the Autobots attacked the Decepticons' [[Death Crystal]] cannon, the Predacons gained some measure of revenge on Sky Lynx, by blasting away the cliff he was standing on, briefly stunning him. They then united into Predaking and attacked the other Autobots. Their attack was only stopped by the collapse of a nearby mountain.

Later, the Predacons were drawn into the [[Quintesson|Quintessons]]' experiments using [[Daniel Witwicky (G1)|Daniel Witwicky]]'s dreams to destroy the Transformers. Razorclaw and [[Springer (G1)|Springer]] were captured by a [[dragon]], which took them to a castle. There, a [[Fairy-tale princess|princess]] offered them [[gold]] if they freed her. While Springer declined the gold, Razorclaw's interest was piqued. Whether this means gold is valuable among the Decepticons, or if Razorclaw just likes shiny things, is unspecified. In typical fashion, Razorclaw sat down and decided to try and break out when the guards came. However, Springer came up with a plan that allowed them to escape and went to fight the dragon. Razorclaw decided to let Springer fight the dragon himself, but the princess urged Razorclaw to help if only to save himself. Razorclaw served as Springer's mount as he charged the dragon, killing it. After shutting down the experiments, Razorclaw decided to finish off the Autobots, but Headstrong couldn't [[Transformation|transform]] into beast mode, and Razorclaw ordered the Predacons to retreat. {{storylink|Nightmare Planet}}

When [[Scourge]] was possessed by the ghost of [[Starscream]] and attacked Galvatron, Razorclaw and his team were tasked to track him down and bring him back. They returned empty-handed, to Galvatron's anger. After Starscream possessed Trypticon, the Predacon were among the Decepticons that took pursuit.

When Predaking detected a signal on the Quintesson's signal, he followed it to a jungle planet, where they battled the Autobots for it, facing defeat by Sky Lynx once more.

When the Decepticons invaded [[Paradron]], Razorclaw and [[Brawl (G1)|Brawl]] were on guard duty when [[Sandstorm (G1)|Sandstorm]] escaped from the brig, and the normally relaxed Predacon commander eagerly charged out of the barracks at the thought of tearing apart an Autobot. He leapt ahead of Sandstorm on a narrow bridge and knocked him off the edge into a deep chasm. The lousy [[Triple Changer]] transformed to avoid splattering, though, and escaped his pursuers. {{storylink|Fight or Flee}}

Razorclaw was among the [[Primitive|Primitives]] who were summoned by [[Primacron]]'s [[Oracle (G1)|assistant]] to fight [[Tornedron]], greatly objecting to Sky Lynx's leadership of the group. While fleeing Tornedron, Headstrong declared that it would be better to die fighting. Razorclaw agreed, and ordered the Predacons to form Predaking. After Galvatron's apparent demise, [[Soundwave (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Soundblaster]] started to cozy up to the new Emperor of Destruction, [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]]. [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] and [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] felt the need to prove themselves to the new leader, and so they approached Razorclaw about teaming up to steal the [[Sol 1]] satellite the humans and Autobots were working on. Razorclaw agreed, and assembled the Predacons as Predaking. Their attack was driven off by [[Raiden]] and the Headmasters. {{storylink|The Shadow Emperor, Scorponok}} Next, Razorclaw and the Predacons helped Scorponok stage a crisis to keep the Autobots distracted, by setting off a volcano in [[Peru]]. As Scorponok began his plan to capture the [[plasma energy]] of Mars by blowing it up, Razorclaw and the Predacons stood guard on Mars as the [[Terrorcon (G1)|Terrorcons]] began planting the necessary bombs. When the Trainbots stumbled across the plot, the Predacons started up a firefight to dispose of the meddling Autobots. With Daniel Witwicky and [[Wheelie (G1)|Wheelie]] missing, the Trainbots tagged out with the Autobot Headmasters to go looking for them. Razorclaw gave the order and Predaking was formed. Equipping them with Autobot insignia panels, he sent them to Earth via a Space Bridge in the Florida Everglades. There, Razorclaw led the Predacons against Megatron, who had been led to believe Optimus Prime still lived and assumed he sent the Predacons against him thanks to the Autobot insignia. Razorclaw returned later, leading the Predacons under the flag of [[Ratbat (G1)|Ratbat]], leading raids for fuel. [[Rapid Anti-robot Assault Team|RAAT]] had in their possession at the time the six Autobot [[Throttlebot|Throttlebots]] and, with [[Forrest Forsythe]] refusing to believe the Autobots and Decepticons were separate factions, issued an ultimatum that one more attack would lead to the Throttlebots' execution. Sure enough, they found no body, but instead a trail of massive footprints leading back towards land. Perceptor suggested the it might be best if Broadside took them to the surface over the spot where the battle was occuring. Broadside and Prime both agreed.

The triple-changer was eager to get there, as the combination of seasickness and worry over his friends was not enjoyable. Unfortunately they were interupted in their travel by the giant "ghost" of [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream]]. During the first arc of [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]'s tenure as [[Prime (rank)|leader]] of the [[Autobot|Autobots]], Broadside was an enormous warrior, as tall as the special combiner teams, and supposedly nearly as powerful. He helped defend the Autobot capital of [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]], alongside [[Vibes]]. {{storylink|The War Within}}

A few thousand years after that, Broadside, now the size of a standard Transformer, was a member of the [[Wrecker|Wreckers]] fighting for control of the Tagan Heights region. Most notably, he organized the evacuation of his team when [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]] and [[Defensor (G1)|Defensor]] were decimating the area. Possibly, Broadside had himself reduced after the signing of the [[Crisis Intervention Accord]] to keep his combat status nominal. {{storylink|War Within: The Dark Ages}}

In the modern era, Broadside was one of the Autobots upgraded into a Triple Changer by [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]]'s new process, after the Autobots and Decepticons negotiated a truce following the [[Great Shutdown]]. Broadside was there. He saw it happen. The conquest of [[Kaon]]. The fall of a Prime. The beginning of the [[Great War (G1)|Great War]]. Broadside was there, and amazingly well armed for such a "peaceful" period, though perhaps he took a cue from [[Sentinel Prime (G1)|Sentinel Prime]]. Either way, the huge old bot was one of the survivors who managed to evacuate before Megatron's takeover. {{storylink|Megatron Origin issue 4|Megatron Origin #4}}

As the war began, Broadside was one of many Autobots tapped at one time or another to join the elite fighting squad known as the Wreckers. Over time, he would become one of the longest-serving (and surviving) members of the group. At the command of [[Impactor]], he fought against the Wreckers' opposite number, [[Squadron X]], and eventually participated in their final conflict on planet [[Pova]] in the Redan Quadrant. According to official records, Squadron X managed to escape their confinement, forcing the Wreckers to finish them once and for all. {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 4|Last Stand of the Wreckers #4}} In reality, after the battle, the Wreckers were informed that due to the fact the Wreckers had no jurisdiction on Pova, Squadron X had to be let go or else the Autobots would face diplomatic repercussions. Around four hundred years ago, Broadside was attempting to defend Autobot territory on Cybertron from Decepticon expansion. He was part of a unit alongside [[Kup (G1)|Kup]], [[Getaway]] and [[Huffer (G1)|Huffer]] shortly after the Battle of [[Thunderhead Pass]], stuck in the trenches on what was left of Cybertron after [[Thunderwing (G1)|Thunderwing]] stomped through it. {{storylink|Spotlight: Blaster}}

In the present, Broadside was assaulting the Decepticon [[Siege Armature]] on [[Varas Centralus]] alongside [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]] and [[Sandstorm (G1)|Sandstorm]] when Springer received orders from Optimus Prime to pull out the Wreckers and return to Cybertron. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 2}} After Optimus and the Wreckers quickly crushed [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]]'s cult, Broadside reported that [[Thunderwing (G1)|Thunderwing]] was coming back. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 3}} When Thunderwing touched down on Cybertron, Broadside, [[Scoop (G1)|Scoop]] and [[Roadbuster (G1)|Roadbuster]] operated as advance recon, watching as the monstrous Pretender slowly erupted into a rage as memories of his past flooded what was left of his mind. Broadside had to pick up Scoop and run for it as Thunderwing unleashed a massive wave of energy. After [[Twin Twist]] managed to get himself into trouble, Broadside's team were tasked with getting his attention, but were blown away with a mighty clap of his hands. After recovering from having a pocket of gas detonated from underneath them, Broadside and the remaining Autobots fought alongside two squads of Decepticons and reprogrammed [[Centurion droid|Centurion droids]] to help defeat Thunderwing. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 4}}

Later, as the [[Expansion]] began, Broadside and the Wreckers came to [[Corata-Vaz]] to back-up Ultra Magnus and the [[Ark-12]] crew, once again pitting themselves against Thunderwing. The Pretender had been co-opted by [[Nova Prime|Nemesis Prime]] and his [[Dead Universe]] Transformers as guardian to one of three [[Nega-Core]]s, devices which would allow the Dead Universe to expand across the living one completely. {{storylink|Spotlight: Hardhead}} Broadside and the others tried fruitlessly to get past Thunderwing and shut down the Nega-Core. {{storylink|Spotlight: Doubledealer}} They were only successful once [[Jetfire (G1)|Jetfire]] used Bludgeon's old Axis Cradle to hack into Thunderwing's programming and shut down the new directives [[Jhiaxus (G2)|Jhiaxus]] had hardwired into him. {{storylink|Spotlight: Sideswipe}}

Broadside and several members of the Wreckers were captured by [[Turmoil]]'s Decepticons. They were rescued by the remaining Wreckers under [[Kup (G1)|Kup]] and Springer, and the former Decepticon known as [[Drift (G1)|Drift]]. A few thousand years after that, Broadside, now the size of a standard Transformer, was a member of the [[Wrecker|Wreckers]] fighting for control of the Tagan Heights region. Most notably, he organized the evacuation of his team when [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]] and [[Defensor (G1)|Defensor]] were decimating the area. Broadside was there. He saw it happen. The conquest of [[Kaon]]. The fall of a Prime. The beginning of the [[Great War (G1)|Great War]]. Broadside was there, and amazingly well armed for such a "peaceful" period, though perhaps he took a cue from [[Sentinel Prime (G1)|Sentinel Prime]]. Either way, the huge old bot was one of the survivors who managed to evacuate before Megatron's takeover. {{storylink|Megatron Origin issue 4|Megatron Origin #4}}

As the war began, Broadside was one of many Autobots tapped at one time or another to join the elite fighting squad known as the Wreckers. Over time, he would become one of the longest-serving (and surviving) members of the group. At the command of [[Impactor]], he fought against the Wreckers' opposite number, [[Squadron X]], and eventually participated in their final conflict on planet [[Pova]] in the Redan Quadrant. Around four hundred years ago, Broadside was attempting to defend Autobot territory on Cybertron from Decepticon expansion. Broadside had to pick up Scoop and run for it as Thunderwing unleashed a massive wave of energy. After [[Twin Twist]] managed to get himself into trouble, Broadside's team were tasked with getting his attention, but were blown away with a mighty clap of his hands. He helped defend the Autobot capital of [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]], alongside [[Vibes]]. {{storylink|The War Within}}

A few thousand years after that, Broadside, now the size of a standard Transformer, was a member of the [[Wrecker|Wreckers]] fighting for control of the Tagan Heights region. Most notably, he organized the evacuation of his team when [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]] and [[Defensor (G1)|Defensor]] were decimating the area. Possibly, Broadside had himself reduced after the signing of the [[Crisis Intervention Accord]] to keep his combat status nominal. {{storylink|War Within: The Dark Ages}}

Broadside was there. He saw it happen. The conquest of [[Kaon]]. The fall of a Prime. The beginning of the [[Great War (G1)|Great War]]. Broadside was there, and amazingly well armed for such a "peaceful" period, though perhaps he took a cue from [[Sentinel Prime (G1)|Sentinel Prime]]. Either way, the huge old bot was one of the survivors who managed to evacuate before Megatron's takeover. {{storylink|Megatron Origin issue 4|Megatron Origin #4}}

As the war began, Broadside was one of many Autobots tapped at one time or another to join the elite fighting squad known as the Wreckers. Over time, he would become one of the longest-serving (and surviving) members of the group. At the command of [[Impactor]], he fought against the Wreckers' opposite number, [[Squadron X]], and eventually participated in their final conflict on planet [[Pova]] in the Redan Quadrant. Around four hundred years ago, Broadside was attempting to defend Autobot territory on Cybertron from Decepticon expansion. He was part of a unit alongside [[Kup (G1)|Kup]], [[Getaway]] and [[Huffer (G1)|Huffer]] shortly after the Battle of [[Thunderhead Pass]], stuck in the trenches on what was left of Cybertron after [[Thunderwing (G1)|Thunderwing]] stomped through it. {{storylink|Spotlight: Blaster}}

In the present, Broadside was assaulting the Decepticon [[Siege Armature]] on [[Varas Centralus]] alongside [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]] and [[Sandstorm (G1)|Sandstorm]] when Springer received orders from Optimus Prime to pull out the Wreckers and return to Cybertron. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 2}} After Optimus and the Wreckers quickly crushed [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]]'s cult, Broadside reported that [[Thunderwing (G1)|Thunderwing]] was coming back. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 3}} When Thunderwing touched down on Cybertron, Broadside, [[Scoop (G1)|Scoop]] and [[Roadbuster (G1)|Roadbuster]] operated as advance recon, watching as the monstrous Pretender slowly erupted into a rage as memories of his past flooded what was left of his mind. Broadside had to pick up Scoop and run for it as Thunderwing unleashed a massive wave of energy. After [[Twin Twist]] managed to get himself into trouble, Broadside's team were tasked with getting his attention, but were blown away with a mighty clap of his hands. After recovering from having a pocket of gas detonated from underneath them, Broadside and the remaining Autobots fought alongside two squads of Decepticons and reprogrammed [[Centurion droid|Centurion droids]] to help defeat Thunderwing. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 4}}

Later, as the [[Expansion]] began, Broadside and the Wreckers came to [[Corata-Vaz]] to back-up Ultra Magnus and the [[Ark-12]] crew, once again pitting themselves against Thunderwing. Broadside and several members of the Wreckers were captured by [[Turmoil]]'s Decepticons. They were rescued by the remaining Wreckers under [[Kup (G1)|Kup]] and Springer, and the former Decepticon known as [[Drift (G1)|Drift]]. ==Synopsis==
[[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] reports that his scans have located the [[Nemesis (Prime)|Decepticon warship]] while experimenting with different frequencies. [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] thinks they should strike now, but Ratchet says he's also detected an [[Autobot]] emergency beacon, and [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]] decides they should check that out first. He and Ratchet arrive at a centuries-old crashed Autobot ship and venture inside. Though they expect there may be survivors, they find the crew already dead. Ratchet's scans reveal that the crew didn't die in the crash, but had succumbed to [[cybonic plague]]. As the ship shifts, a deceased Autobot hanging from the ceiling drips plague-imbued [[energon (fuel)|energon]] onto Optimus.

Later at [[Autobot Outpost Omega One|base]], Optimus lays stricken while the others discuss the situation. The plague was developed by [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]], and Ratchet thinks they might be able to find information in the Decepticon databases. [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] and [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] [[GroundBridge]] onto the Decepticon ship and, narrowly hiding from [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]], enter the ship's laboratory. Inside, Arcee scours the database, but fails to find a cure for the plague. While she's doing so, Bumblebee stumbles on Megatron's comatose form. Arcee is ready to finish Megatron off then and there, but Ratchet has a better idea — enter Megatron's brain and retrieve the plague cure. Ratchet knows of a procedure to create a [[cortical psychic patch]]. Though such procedures have been banned by the Autobots for years, it will get them into Megatron's brain, and Bumblebee is willing to try it.

On the ship's bridge, [[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]] complains that the ship's electromagnetic shielding has not been fixed, and directs the [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]]s to hurry up and do so before the Autobots detect them. Afterwards Starscream has a private word with Knock Out, suggesting that the Decepticons deserve a leader who is conscious, and the pair come to an understanding whereby Knock Out will be Starscream's new [[second-in-command]].

Arcee plugs Bumblebee into Megatron, and Bumblebee finds himself in a simulation of [[Kaon]]. Ratchet creates a communications downlink, so they can monitor what Bumblebee is doing. Bumblebee wanders though Kaon until he finds what appears to be Optimus, but is just a figment of Megaton's imagination. Megatron appears and slays the false Optimus, who dissolves into smoke. Another Optimus appears, and as Megatron fires his [[fusion cannon]], Bumblebee jumps in the path of the blast, only to find it passes right through him to slay the imaginary Optimus. Megatron, however, has seen Bumblebee and attempts to strike him, but his blows pass clean through the Autobot scout. While Megatron is trying to work out what's going on, Optimus, [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] and another Bumblebee appear, all figments of his imagination. Megatron destroys them, but begins to realize that he's in his own subconscious.

Arcee becomes anxious when Starscream, Knock Out and [[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]] enter the lab, though the two Autobots are hidden well enough that the Decepticons don't see them. Starscream is determined to put on a show for Soundwave, to convince his fellow Decepticon that Megatron is beyond saving. He and Knock Out attempt to persuade Soundwave that putting Megatron out of his misery is the best thing. Arcee and Ratchet overhear their conversation, and Ratchet says terminating Megatron will permanently separate Bumblebee's mind and body.

In the dream world, Megatron ponders what has happened to him, and finds out from Bumblebee about the [[space bridge]] explosion. Short on time, Bumblebee relays the news about Optimus's cybonic plague infection. Megatron is amused that after all this time Optimus will be felled by a virus, but Bumblebee plays on his desire to finish Optimus himself.

Starscream is about to pull the plug on Megatron when Soundwave points out the psychic patch cable. Starscream begins following it, as Arcee observes from her hiding place.

Megatron briefly shows Bumblebee the formula for the virus cure, but will only share it if Bumblebee can release him from his mental prison. Unknown to Megatron, Ratchet can still see everything Bumblebee sees. Having ganked the formula, Ratchet tells Arcee to cut the link. Megatron's dream world begins to disintegrate and the Decepticon leader launches himself at the disappearing Bumblebee.

Bumblebee comes around as Starscream finds the two hidden Autobots, and, as they escape through the GroundBridge, Arcee blasts one of the cables attached to Megatron. Starscream is actually pleased that Megatron has flatlined as a result, but at Soundwave's insistence has Knock Out reconnect the cable.

A newly-cured Optimus stands up and the Autobots celebrate, but Optimus insists the celebration should be for Ratchet and Bumblebee. On the Decepticon ship, Knock Out observes that Megatron is no longer exhibiting any brainwave activity — there's no one home. Unbeknownst to anyone, Megatron now resides in Bumblebee's head...
