Megatron is confused as to why he is not one with the [[AllSpark]], but Unicron explains that Megatron's [[Dark Energon]] use has made that impossible. Requiring a new vessel with which to carry out his plans, Unicron reformats Megatron's body into a more powerful form, takes possession of it and heads into the sky. Meanwhile, Optimus holds a short ceremony to promote [[Bumblebee (WFC)|Bumblebee]] to warrior, before announcing that he's going to go and retrieve the AllSpark from where it was hidden during the [[Great War (Prime)|Great War]].

[[Ultra Magnus (WFC)|Ultra Magnus]] and [[Smokescreen (Prime)|Smokescreen]] patrol the [[Rust Sea|Sea of Rust]], now restored to a city, and run into an unpleasant surprise—the [[Predacon (Prime)|Predacons]] [[Darksteel (Prime)|Darksteel]] and [[Skylynx]]. The two Autobots are no match for the new clones, and Magnus is severely injured before Smokescreen manages to use the [[phase shifter]] to make their escape. [[Ratchet (WFC)|Ratchet]] is called to Cybertron to tend to Magnus, while the other Autobots try to decide on their next step.

Bumblebee attempts to persuade Predaking that there can be a truce, but Predaking refuses to forget the Autobots' role in the destruction of his brethren. The Autobots instead head for Megatron's old fortress of [[Darkmount (Cybertron)|Darkmount]], which Knock Out has informed them may contain a map showing the location of Shockwave's laboratories.

Shockwave's current lab is in the ruins of [[Six Lasers Over Cybertron]], which is where Starscream is arriving with another recovered Predacon bone. Darksteel and Skylynx return back there too, and Starscream is irked to learn they've revealed themselves to the Autobots.

Over at Theta Scorpii, Optimus finally sights the AllSpark, but there's also an incoming [[plasma storm]], and he has to rush to retrieve their target before it can close in.

As the Autobots are checking out the Darkmount computer, they're interrupted by the arrival of Unicron. A battle ensues during which it's clear the Autobots are no match for the dark god, so they attempt to scram. They're brought to a halt by a [[Smelting pool|smelting pit]], and a blast from Unicron leaves Bulkhead, Arcee and Smokescreen dangling over certain doom. Bumblebee manages to keep Unicron occupied long enough for Ratchet to provide a means of escape via [[GroundBridge]].

Meanwhile, Optimus has retrieved the AllSpark and escaped the plasma storm. He returns to the ship and Wheeljack sets course for Cybertron. Back on the warship, Bumblebee attempts to contact Optimus, but the damage Magnus's ship sustained means though his message gets through, Optimus can't respond. He creates a signal in the form of a column of fire to try and attract the pair to his position, however the first to respond to it is Unicron. Megatron tricks Unicron into fighting the Predacon in the hopes if their shared body is mangled enough, it will be of no further use to Unicron and Megatron will be freed, however Unicron manages to defeat Predaking and, probing the Predacon's mind, learns of the burial ground.

The burial ground has also been found by Starscream, Darksteel and Skylynx, who summon Shockwave to help in gathering up the bones. Their task is interrupted by the arrival of Unicron, and Starscream is overjoyed to see whom he assumes is Megatron, however Unicron corrects him and bats him aside. Darksteel and Skylynx attack, but have no more luck against Unicron than anyone else has had. Opposition defeated, Unicron uses his power to raise the Predacon bones as an army of [[Terrorcon (Prime)|Terrorcons]]. Starscream flees, while Shockwave is quickly dogpiled by the horde.

The Autobots, using the warship's computer to try and locate Unicron, detect the huge build up of Dark Energon at the burial ground and quickly realize what Unicron intends. As the horde starts moving across [[Hydrax Plateau]] towards the [[Well of All Sparks]], the Autobots prepare to use the warship to defend the location. Ratchet and Ultra Magnus are dropped off at a safe location and Smokescreen goes to retrieve the remaining relics from storage. Starscream arrives on the ship and frees the imprisoned Deceptions. They attempt to retake the ship, however Knock Out turns against Starscream, using the phase shifter to seize the [[Immobilizer]] and clock him with it.

Predaking arrives back at the burial ground and is horrified to see it has been desecrated. He asserts his dominance over Skylynx and Darksteel by fighting them, however Shockwave pops up to suggest they go put their combat skills to more productive use against Unicron's horde.

The Autobots make their last stand in the warship, opening fire on the oncoming Terrorcons. While the horde flies up to attack the ship, the Predacon trio arrive to lend a hand. Unfortunately the warship is shot down a short time later and the Autobots emerge, but Predaking tells them to leave the fighting to the Predacons. The Predacons are only able to slow the horde's advance though, and the Terrorcons start heading into the Well of All Sparks. Unicron himself feels the presence of the AllSpark as Magnus's ship arrives back on Cybertron. Optimus jumps out to attack Unicron, who shoots down the ship down before Optimus can engage him. Even Optimus has trouble fighting Unicron, and he's only saved when Bumblebee uses the [[polarity gauntlet]] to halt Unicron's blow. Optimus flies to where Bulkhead and Arcee are helping Wheeljack out of the wreck of Magnus's ship, intending to secure the AllSpark. Unicron breaks free of the polarity gauntlet's grasp and catches up with Optimus, who is now fleeing with the AllSpark, shooting the Autobot leader down. Opening the AllSpark container, Unicron opens it intending to devour the contents, only to find it is empty. Unicron's anti-spark is drawn out of Megatron by the vessel, which pulls it into itself and seals, trapping it there. The Terrorcon army disintegrates.

Starscream lands, having escaped his cell during the crash, and welcomes Megatron back from the dead, believing Megatron will once again lead the Decepticons. Megatron no longer wishes to be an oppressor, and declares the Decepticons no more, departing. Starscream also flees, going instead to Darkmount where he intended to take his place as Decepticon leader. His reign is short-lived, as the Predacons arrive looking to settle some old scores with him.

At the Well of All Sparks, Optimus revealed that he emptied the AllSpark into the [[Matrix of Leadership]]. This unfortunately means that he is now one with the AllSpark, and the only way it can be restored to the Well is by him giving up his own life. Though the other Autobots think there's another way, Optimus gives a last speech and dives into the Well, sacrificing himself and releasing a multitude of sparks into the sky.

==Synopsis==
[[Team Prime]] gathers outside [[Hangar E|their base]] for the launch of [[Raf Esquivel|Raf's]] probe, Chip. It will instinctively follow its signal to the [[Decepticon]] warship with [[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus Prime]] following right behind, ready to relay the ship's coordinates to the other [[Autobot]]s. Optimus tells Raf that [[Ratchet (WFC)|Ratchet]] would be proud of what he's done, and a moment later, both Chip and the Autobot leader take off into the night sky.

In [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out's]] laboratory, Ratchet and [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]] discuss the issue at hand: once a stable form of [[Synthetic Energon|synthetic energon]] exists, it will be able to bond with [[CNA]] to create a stable form of [[Cyber Matter]]. Knock Out muses that this good fortune wouldn't have come about had the Decepticons not let the Autobots destroy the [[Predacon (Prime)|Predacon]] clones. Ratchet picks up on the use of the word "let", but Knock Out and Shockwave quickly change the subject.

Team Prime continues to monitor Optimus as he follows Chip. [[Jack Darby|Jack]] wonders what will happen when the Decepticons pick up [[Laserbeak (WFC)|Laserbeak's]] signal, and Raf says they're counting on Optimus making visual contact with the ''[[Trypticon (WFC)|Nemesis]]'' before that happens.

On the ship, Knock Out is bristling at being reduced to an assistant in his own lab. He fetches a CNA sample from a locked cabinet for Shockwave, not noticing when a second sample jar tips over and blocks the cabinet's sliding door from closing again. Ratchet does notice, and asks Knock Out to fetch another lab instrument to distract him while he yanks the sample jar free.

[[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]] is watching a computer simulation of [[Earth]]'s [[Eco-structuring|cyberformation]] when [[Soundwave (WFC)|Soundwave]] alerts him that Laserbeak's signal has been detected outside the ship. [[Starscream (WFC)|Starscream]] notes the impossibility of that, as Laserbeak is right there in front of them. Megatron recognizes it for an Autobot trick, the complexity of which suggesting that Starscream failed to destroy their base. Starscream hastily volunteers to troubleshoot the problem.

With the aid of the Decepticons' advanced technology, Ratchet is able to complete the Synth En formula. His elation disappears upon hearing Megatron's voice over the comm system, ordering Shockwave to assist in the final stages of the [[Omega Lock]]'s assembly. Ratchet realizes he can never allow Megatron to possess the formula, and deletes it from the computer before setting off an explosion in the corner of the lab and blaming it on the formula's instability. Knock Out calls in some [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]]s to help extinguish the blaze, and when the lab's doors open, Ratchet transforms and drives out.

Optimus Prime continues following Chip until Starscream appears, firing a missile at him. Optimus dodges and fires back with his gatling gun. A squadron of Vehicons join the aerial assault, but Optimus blasts through them with ease. Starscream realizes Laserbeak's frequency isn't emanating from Optimus and continues the search for its source.

Knock Out alerts Megatron to the prisoner's escape, while Ratchet dodges Vehicon fire throughout the halls of the ship. He doesn't get far before Megatron finds him, stopping the ambulance in its tracks by stomping on it. Ratchet warns Megatron that if he kills him, he'll never get the Synth En formula. Megatron assures him that his experts are untangling Ratchet's false trail of information and will soon find the answer themselves.

Knock Out retrieves Ratchet's stolen sample of CNA and Shockwave confirms the stability of the Synth En formula. With the aid of hyper-acceleration technology, it will not take long to begin production. Megatron fulfills his promise by having Ratchet taken to [[Predaking (Prime)|Predaking]]'s quarters. The self-proclaimed leader of the Predacons wastes no time, attacking the helpless Autobot in the name of his slaughtered kin.

Shockwave begins the synthesis of the Cyber Matter, and Megatron orders the Omega Lock to be moved into ready position.

Just as Predaking is about to finish off his prey, Ratchet warns the Predacon not to let his vengeance end with him, but to continue avenging right up to Megatron. Predaking asks what he means, and Ratchet explains Megatron's role in the destruction of the Predacon clones. He challenges Predaking to analyze the situation; the enormity of the supposed coincidence that the Autobots somehow stumbled upon Shockwave's lab while looking for [[Energon]]. Predaking, starting to become convinced, asks why Megatron would wish to harm his kind. Ratchet says that Megatron fears him, and any like him. Enraged, Predaking storms into the halls, demolishing Vehicons along the way. One Vehicon is able to alert Megatron to the rampage before being terminated.

Ratchet makes his way to a communications array and contacts Optimus and Team Prime. Their joy is cut short when Ratchet reveals that Megatron has a working Omega Lock and is about the cyberform the planet. He deactivates the ship's shielding, allowing the Autobots to get a fix on his location, but is forced to leave the array by the sound of approaching gunfire. Optimus orders the Autobots to lock onto Ratchet's coordinates and storm the Decepticon ship. [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] sadly says that they can't leave without saying goodbye, but Fowler promises her they'll be back. The Autobots gear up with the arsenal from [[Ultra Magnus's ship]], and Raf opens a GroundBridge to the ''Nemesis''. As they enter, Optimus Prime tells them that this may be their last battle. But for the sake of Ratchet, Earth, and [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], they must take the Decepticon warship.

Megatron says he did, and his only mistake was not including Predaking in the destruction. He lands a few hits with his blade before Predaking overpowers him, clubbing him with the deactivated body of a Vehicon and knocking him down the length of the hall. Starscream distracts Predaking momentarily with a missile in the back, allowing Megatron to hurl the Predacon into the room behind them. Megatron hits a button on a computer panel inside the room, opening a door to the outside directly behind Predaking. He grips the sides of the door frame to fight against the sudden air pressure, but a blast from Megatron's cannon sends him tumbling out of the ship and into the clouds. Starscream closes the hull door and Knock Out arrives with the Dark Star Saber just as a Vehicon reports over the comm that the Autobots are attacking the ship. Megatron grabs the Dark Star Saber and tells the Decepticons to prepare to make their last stand.

[[Team Prime]] gathers outside [[Hangar E|their base]] for the launch of [[Raf Esquivel|Raf's]] probe, Chip. It will instinctively follow its signal to the [[Decepticon]] warship with [[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus Prime]] following right behind, ready to relay the ship's coordinates to the other [[Autobot]]s. Optimus tells Raf that [[Ratchet (WFC)|Ratchet]] would be proud of what he's done, and a moment later, both Chip and the Autobot leader take off into the night sky.

In [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out's]] laboratory, Ratchet and [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]] discuss the issue at hand: once a stable form of [[Synthetic Energon|synthetic energon]] exists, it will be able to bond with [[CNA]] to create a stable form of [[Cyber Matter]]. Knock Out muses that this good fortune wouldn't have come about had the Decepticons not let the Autobots destroy the [[Predacon (Prime)|Predacon]] clones. Ratchet picks up on the use of the word "let", but Knock Out and Shockwave quickly change the subject.

Team Prime continues to monitor Optimus as he follows Chip. [[Jack Darby|Jack]] wonders what will happen when the Decepticons pick up [[Laserbeak (WFC)|Laserbeak's]] signal, and Raf says they're counting on Optimus making visual contact with the ''[[Trypticon (WFC)|Nemesis]]'' before that happens.

On the ship, Knock Out is bristling at being reduced to an assistant in his own lab. He fetches a CNA sample from a locked cabinet for Shockwave, not noticing when a second sample jar tips over and blocks the cabinet's sliding door from closing again. Ratchet does notice, and asks Knock Out to fetch another lab instrument to distract him while he yanks the sample jar free.

[[Megatron (WFC)|Megatron]] is watching a computer simulation of [[Earth]]'s [[Eco-structuring|cyberformation]] when [[Soundwave (WFC)|Soundwave]] alerts him that Laserbeak's signal has been detected outside the ship. [[Starscream (WFC)|Starscream]] notes the impossibility of that, as Laserbeak is right there in front of them. Megatron recognizes it for an Autobot trick, the complexity of which suggesting that Starscream failed to destroy their base. Starscream hastily volunteers to troubleshoot the problem.

With the aid of the Decepticons' advanced technology, Ratchet is able to complete the Synth En formula. His elation disappears upon hearing Megatron's voice over the comm system, ordering Shockwave to assist in the final stages of the [[Omega Lock]]'s assembly. Ratchet realizes he can never allow Megatron to possess the formula, and deletes it from the computer before setting off an explosion in the corner of the lab and blaming it on the formula's instability. Knock Out calls in some [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]]s to help extinguish the blaze, and when the lab's doors open, Ratchet transforms and drives out.
