decepticonMixmaster
:Mixmaster is a Decepticon from the Transformers Animated continuity family.

Mixmaster (or "Mix" to his friends) seems to be the de facto leader of the Constructicons. Not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, he spends his time overindulging in oil and whistling at passing cars with his buddy, Scrapper. Mix isn't a bad sort at heart, always willing to help a fellow 'bot, but his moral compass is apparently guided by whoever's got the best oil to offer. For all their seeming unsophistication, he and Scrapper still have an innate knack for construction-related activities. They can slap together a sturdy construct out of raw materials in seconds, and just by looking at a set of blueprints, even incomplete ones, they can tell just what's needed to get the job done. In addition to the abilities he shares with his partner, Mixmaster can also create any number of chemical concoctions in the churning belly of his mixing drum.

Fiction
Animated cartoon
:Voice actor: Jeff Glen Bennett (English), Reinhard Scheunemann (German)

Mix and his compatriot Scrapper were spontaneously brought to life by AllSpark shards embedded in them. Though not quick on the uptake, the two Constructibots were able to name themselves and quickly hit the ground running...after attractive sports cars. When he noticed a construction accident about to harm Bulkhead, he pulled over with his friend and intervened. Tidying up the construction site with a fair amount of skill, he befriended the large Autobot and pressured him into going off for an oil break...from a nearby oil tanker. After expressing his misgivings about stealing oil, Bulkhead took the two Constructobots to the old auto factory to meet the other Autobots. Mixmaster and Scrapper proved too rough around the edges even for Ratchet's tastes, and their cavorting woke up Sari. Mixmaster didn't think much of their stickshift-in-the-mud leader, Optimus Prime, who asked Bulkhead why he was bringing "strangers" to their base (thus proving to be none too observant in the search for AllSpark fragments himself). After a game of flattened-oil-barrel Frisbee severed Sari's pigtails, Mix found himself and Scrapper kicked out the factory by Prime.

Dejected, Mixmaster and Scrapper happened upon Blitzwing and Lugnut stealing construction supplies...very ineffectively. Once again, they intervened just before someone could get hurt, saving Blitzwing from getting creamed by the load he was carrying. Mixmaster then heard approaching police sirens, which Blitzwing told them was a quitting time signal, meaning they could go home. Mix and Scrapper indicated they didn't have a home, so their two new buddies offered to let the Constructobots come home with them, saying Mix and Scrapper would be welcome to stay as long as they hauled the heavy trailers of supplies. As Mixmaster obligingly pushed the supply containers uphill and out of earshot, he didn't hear Blitzwing ease Lugnut's concerns about Megatron's disapproval by assuring that he'd take take the two new bots offline once the heavy lifting was done. After the load was hauled, Mixmaster was all set for a reward, unaware Lugnut was about to use his signature punch upon him and Scrapper, when Megatron intervened. Mixmaster followed Megatron into the Decepticons' inner sanctum, where he saw the space bridge schematics. He and Scrapper immediately knew exactly what supplies would be needed to complete the bridge, as well as where they could be obtained.

The next day, Mixmaster and Scrapper "acquired" (stole) a load of construction materials and were fleeing pursuit by Sumdac Systems police robots when they ran into Bulkhead again. Stopping the chase, Bulkhead asked them what they were doing, and the Constructobots, being trusting souls, told him. Mixmaster couldn't figure out why Bulky was so upset they were working for the Decepticons until he said Megatron was trying to put one over on them. Mix and Scrapper weren't about to stand still for that, and they sped off to settle the score. Their initial complaints didn't go over well, as the Decepticon leader proved far less gentle and jovial, slamming them up against the mountainside near the mine. When Mixmaster said why they were angry, though, Megatron turned on the sweet talk again, spinning a tale of Autobot oppression. This proved a bit high-concept for Mixmaster, but then Megatron offered to explain it over a few barrels of oil. This was far more Mix and Scrapper's speed, and soon they were guzzling away while Megatron once again pitched the space bridge project.

Showing up at the auto factory, Mixmaster revealed that they were now working for Megatron. Much like real construction workers, they went to the highest bidder, and Megatron had better oil. Showing there were no hard feelings, they said they weren't about to hurt the Autobots, just come pick up the AllSpark fragments and be on their way. Optimus Prime objected, but Mixmaster called him a dipstick and knocked over the 98-ton-weakling. A fight broke out, and Mixmaster went so far as to ransom Bumblebee for the fragments. However, once Bulkhead handed over the fragments, Mixmaster had no trouble accepting Bulky's offer to have "one for the road." Of course, he didn't know Bulkhead had secretly slipped him and Scrapper some tainted oil, contaminated by the expired fixative that Bulkhead had saved. As Mixmaster and Scrapper ran off, the bad oil reacted explosively, knocking them out so the Autobots could reclaim the fragments. The blast also scrambled their memories, so when Mixmaster came to, he didn't know who the big, angry guy was or why he was ranting about someone named Megatron and flinging his wrecking ball at them. Confused and frightened, Mixmaster decided to vamoose. Rise of the Constructicons

Continuing to function, Mix and Scrapper continued to wander around guzzling fuel, gaining the attention of the Autobots, Decepticons and police; all the while, Mix kept trying to remember where they'd found the "really good oil" last time. Finding a trail of Bumblebee's leaking lubricant, Mix followed it back to Autobot base and quickly burned the door down in order to find any oil in there. He soon came across a small fleshy thing but when he asked it if it knew where there was any oil, it unleashed a sonic attack to overload their audio sensors.

While Scrapper was scared and wanted to leave, fearing this creature was what had caused their memory loss, Mix was determined to find oil and told his friend to "grow a backhoe". However, their search continuously drew them into conflict with the strange creature; Mix became angry enough to threaten it with violence, ignore all of Scrapper's warnings and then be drawn into a really blatant trap. A severe beating by the factory assembly line finally convinced him that Scrapper was right, no oil was worth this, and the two fled the base.

Luckily a nice German guy turned up with some barrels of that really good oil, and the Constructicons followed him home. Good thing that small fleshy thing drove them off, or they'd never have met this guy and gone off with him! Sari, No One's Home

Under the watchful eye of Megatron, Mixmaster and his buddy Scrapper helped the Decepticons finish their space bridge and were rewarded with being branded as Decepticons themselves. Later, Mixmaster encountered Bulkhead, but due to the memory wipe from the spiked oil he and Scrapper drank, neither of them recognized him. Mixmaster proved his worth as a Decepticon warrior after using his quick-drying cement to anchor Prowl and Optimus Prime to the ground when the Autobots invaded the Decepticon base. The feeling of victory was short-lived, as some loud-mouth and a bunch of oddly colored jets broke into the base from above. A Bridge Too Close, Part I

Mix would've happily stayed out of this fight, except one of those good-for-nothing 'bots spilt his oil! His blasts of quick-drying cement were a major asset in the battle, helping paralyze foes like some big-headed jerk. He later cheered on Megatron's victory (despite having no idea what this "Cybertron" thing was anyway) only to watch it all fall apart when the Space Bridge malfunctioned. Mix was last seen heroically trying to save the oil from a cave-in. A Bridge Too Close, Part II

Having somehow gotten out of the rubble, Mixmaster and Scrapper took refuge in an old car manufacturing plant, where they drooled over in-repair cars. Soon, they were found by Bulkhead, who offered them a job, and after some initial hesistance, they accepted the job. They soon figured out that Bulkhead wasn't lying about the job being big, and it would "run him some serious overtime." Just after they started working, Scrapper found something heavy on the floor that he was picking up rubble from, and it took Mixmaster's help to get it up. What they pulled up was a forklift. But not just any forklift, but a Constructicon forklift, Dirt Boss. Dirt Boss easily obtains servants in both Mixmaster & Scrapper after he toys with Scrapper in the classic tease of "Stop hitting yourself". The Constructicon trio decide to take over the city by stealing all of the city's oil, much to MIxmaster's, along with Scrapper's, happiness. Mixmaster, along with Scrapper, then proceed to help Dirt Boss attack an oil tankor (driven by Sparkplug Witwicky), in which they throw him out, and drag the tankor away. This little conflict attracts the atteniton of not only the Detroit Powell Press (Man, Powell's got connections!), but also the Detroit Police Department, as do their continued attacks on ships and gas stations.

After a while, Mixmaster, along with Scrapper, begins to enjoy all the oil they've stolen, but Dirt Boss doesn't like that they're drinking it, and tells them it's not for drinking. Mix is later forced to help Dirt Boss destroy the Detroit Fossil Fuel Refinery, by lighting the oil on fire. Bulkhead refuses to allow this to happen, and tries (but fails) to stop them with his wrecking-ball arm, which ends up getting stuck in Mixmaster's chemical arm. Mixmaster is then forced to drag Bulkhead everywhere he goes, but Bulkhead wasn't entirely useless, as he could be the one to torch the refinery, at the cost of his life. Only problem is...Mixmaster is still attached to him, so he would be destroyed as well. Both Scrapper and Dirt Boss say it's for a worthy cause, which greatly angers Mixmaster. Once the Autobots arrive on the scene, Bulkhead (Having been taken control of by Dirt Boss) is forced to attack the Autobots, using Mixmaster's body as a weapon (Much to Mixmaster's annoyance). Eventually, Bulkhead is freed from Dirt Boss's control, and he manages to separate himself from Mixmaster. Though, Mixmaster is then faced with yet another problem. When Bulkhead managed to get him off, Mix went flying back, and landed right on top of Scrapper, who got his arm stuck in his chemical-dispensing thing in his chest (Man Mix, it is just not your day!) Dirt Boss then proceeded to take them to the top of an oil tank (which is about to explode), and they are transwarped away with it, and are with it when it explodes in the middle of Lake Erie.
Three's a Crowd

48 days later, Scrapper had still not managed to contact or locate Mixmaster or Dirt Boss. Human Error, Part II

Notes
* Mixmaster follows the true blue-collar construction worker tradition of showing his buttcrack.
* Mixmaster calls himself Mix because he thinks the name Mixmaster is too long, yet thinks Scrap is too short.
* Mixmaster starts out in a more standard construction vehicle color scheme of yellow and gray, and only switches to the classic Constructicon green and purple after becoming a Decepticon. His eyes changed color (yellow to red) as well.
* In a particular odd bit of concept art, Mixmaster's vehicle mode is shown in an upturned position supported only by his shovel. Almost like... a leg. Naaaaw, couldn't be...
* Mixmaster's voice is very reminiscent of Joe Pesci's. The episode "Sari, No One's Home" utilizes a theme homaging the Home Alone movie series, which co-starred Joe Pesci as a hapless thief.
* Mixmaster's ultimate fate was never revealed before the end of the series, <s>so it is up for debate as to whether or not he survived the oil tank explosion at the end of "Three's a Crowd"</s> Derrick J. Wyatt confirmed via his Formspring account that Mixmaster and Dirt Boss did meet their fate .

Created accidentally by the fusion of a forklift, a Headmaster unit and an AllSpark fragment, Dirt Boss is a little bot with big, big plans. Sick of having been bossed around back when he was nothing more than a simple machine, he's decided that he's going to be giving the orders from now on!

His nasty attitude might be enough to accomplish this on its own, but he's capable of getting muscle for his jobs very quickly. He can fire a small remote control device from his forehead, tipped with a drill that allows it to bore its way into other other machinesm-Transformers includedm-giving Dirt Boss direct control of their motor functions. And if he really has to get his servos dirty, his stumpy little legs are actually quite capable of delivering a brutal roundhouse. Now he's taken command of the other Constructicons and is going to make sure Detroit knows who's boss!

Isaac Sumdac and Bulkhead were using the forklift that would become Dirt Boss in their space bridge recreation project at Sumdac Tower, but Bulkhead's natural clumsiness sent the forklift, the recently recaptured Headmaster unit, and an Allspark fragment plummeting several floors. While Isaac went to sleep off his scare and Bulkhead went to get help with reinforcing the tower's structural support for the new space bridge, the fallen objects fused together.

By the time Bulkhead returned with Mixmaster and Scrapper, who were beginning to come around to the idea of becoming Autobots, Dirt Boss had come to life. Pulled up by Scrapper, the tiny terror immediately used his motor-control power on Scrapper to make him hit himself repeatedly. The three far larger robots were quickly cowed into submission, and Dirt Boss revealed his plan to hijack oil shipments to increase his power base in the city...a plan with which the two Constructicons quickly got on board.

Leading the two on an overnight crime spree (and occasionally beating the Constructicons for drinking the profits), he revealed his plan to torch the Fossil Fuel plant, forcing the city to come to him for oil. Bulkhead attempted to stop them before they left, but that didn't go too well. Bulkhead was dragged to the fuel plant, and eventually Dirt Boss used his motor-control on him, intending him to start a fire that would destroy the plant (sacrificing the bound Mixmaster in the process). The rest of the Autobots arrived, but a stray spark set the spilled oil ablaze anyway. Dirt Boss took control of Mixmaster and Scrapper, who had become stuck together in the fight, and rode them to the top of the oil tower. Fortunately, Sumdac had followed them, carrying the plasmadynamic thruster from their space bridge. Bulkhead reprogrammed the device and transported the oil tanker—and the three Constructicons—to just offshore of Dinobot Island just before it exploded. Three's a Crowd

Technorganic describes certain types of beings whose physiology includes both technological and biological components, often melded at a cellular level.

Fiction
Beast Machines cartoon
The first technorganic Transformers were Optimus Primal's team of Maximals, who were reformatted by the power of the Oracle. The Reformatting

These technorganic Transformer were no longer purely technological robots, nor were they organic life forms. In Primal's words, they were "both, and neither"—a balance of organic and mechanical, combining the strengths of both. Though they still retained the ability to change between two forms, transformation now required conscious thought and effort, as well as a certain sort of mental discipline. They had to achieve an internal, zen-like mental balance, or "still point" as Optimus referred to it, and will themselves into their other mode. Primal, Cheetor and Blackarachnia used the mantra "I am transformed" to help until they got the hang of doing it on their own. If this state of mental balance was lost, a technorganic Transformer in robot mode would revert to their beast mode. Master of the House Several later technorganics seemed to get the knack of transforming right away; Silverbolt, Botanica and Nightscream seem to master the process immediately. Forbidden Fruit In Darkest Knight Home Soil

The on-board computers which previously handled such things were no more. Their transformation was not a mechanical shifting of moving parts, as with their robotic predecessors. For most, it appeared more like fluid shape-shifting, generally accompanied by a burst of bright energy. Master of the House

Primal's techorganic Maximals were invisible to traditional scanners while in beast mode, no longer giving off an "energy signature" like ordinary machines. However, when in their robot mode, they were as readily detectable as any other Transformer. Fires of the Past

Technorganic Transformers appear to be highly resistant to injury with highly-advanced internal "nanosurgical" healing abilities. Survivor

Optimus Primal's band of technorganic Maximals possessed powerful (almost supernatural) combat abilities. Seemingly all technorganics would have similar capabilities. Wreckers: Finale Part II Though powerful and durable, the technorganics were not invulnerable. Sufficient conventional firepower could render them unconscious Mercenary Pursuits or even physically damage them, and they were vulnerable to the same sort of Spark extractors which Megatron used on conventional Transformers.

On one occasion, ingesting a seemingly organic fruit caused Primal and his team to mentally devolve into primitives. When the tree that generated this fruit was slashed by Cheetor, it shattered into fragments, as if it were a digital illusion, and the fruit's effect was immediately undone. Primal concluded that the fruit's organic nature was devolving their bodies. Forbidden Fruit

Another vulnerability came from the Key to Vector Sigma, a device which converted organics into "technomatter". When applied to the technorganic Maximals, it caused them to convert to a metalized state, resulting pain and hysteria; it could eventually have resulted in deactivation if its effects were not reverted. The Key

The technorganic ethos extended beyond the Maximals themselves, to new plantlife Fallout, and eventually the planet itself. Cybertron had long been a planet of metal upon metal, "technology" alone. According to Primal's interpretation of the Oracle, the returning Beast Warriors brought with them organic components of the planets they had visited, allowing the Oracle to begin the process of reformatting the planet to be technorganic. The Maximals eventually discovered Cybertron's organic core, with deep sublevels comprised of soil and containing organic fossils, such as the one scanned by Nightscream.

At the end of the conflict, Cybertron was reformatted planet-wide, creating a new Earth-like world, a mix of technorganic flora and fauna, oceans (presumably full of water), and vast cities of varying construction; some largely technorganic in nature Abduction, others retaining more "traditional" inorganic metal or stonework construction, depending on the part of the planet. Wreckers: Finale Part II

This, along with devices like the "organic detector" on the Elite Guard's ship, implied that it was considered unnatural and probably disgusting for Transformers to have any organic components whatsoever.
"Technorganic" in Beast Wars
Though Beast Machines introduced the term "technorganic" and used it to refer very specifically to living entities blending machine and organic at the cellular level, subsequent media under the Beast Wars banner has used the term to describe to pre-Beast Machines characters:

* IDW's Beast Wars Sourcebook makes frequent references to characters possessing features like "technorganic musculature".
* The Ultimate Guide refers both to Optimus Primal's beast mode and all Transmetals as "techno-organic" (with hyphen).
* The term bio-mechanical crops up occasionally in bios and reference books, used synonymously with this use of "technorganic" in reference to pre-Beast Machines beast warriors.

It remains unclear what the Beast Wars-era characters were. One would think that they were not technorganic according to the Beast Machines definition, since that would have rendered the distinction (and their reformatting) meaningless. The original Beast Wars cartoon never clearly explained whether their animal parts were comprised of genuinely living organic tissue, or were made of faux-biological synthetic matter, but most evidence points toward their beast modes essentially being a fleshy "shell" or "fur coat" surrounding the inner robot, rather than the cellular fusion described by Beast Machines.

The terms "technorganic" and "biomechanical" have been used to describe characters from other, non-Beast Era Transformers franchises—generally characters based on redecoed Beast Wars toys such as Armada Cheetor. In the absence of a full backstory, however, the exact meaning of those terms in those continuities is unclear.
