'''Thunder Clash''' (also '''Thunderclash''') is the powerful, intelligent commander-in-chief of the Autobot [[Turbomaster]]s. Fearless in battle and keen in strategy, he is a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield, his mere appearance sapping the fighting spirit from [[Decepticon]] forces. He commands the respect of the Autobots under his authority and the fear of the Decepticon [[Predator (subgroup)|Predators]] they fight against. Thunder Clash worries not about the air superiority of the Predators, believing that by standing as one, the Turbomasters will be able to resist anything that's thrown at them.
[[2019 IDW continuity|In one universe]] he even leads the elite Autobot squadron known as the [[Wreckers]]!

What a guy!
During a Decepticon Predator attack on the Autobot base, [[Skyquake (G1)|Skyquake]] gazed into his Supersight as he was about to join the battle. Suddenly, "into his Supersight view looms a menacing shape that strikes terror even into his hardened heart..." {{storylink|Predator Air Attack!}}
Thunder Clash (or possibly [[Optimus Prime (G1)/toys#Machine Wars|one particular Optimus Prime]]) was one of several Transformers from all eras and all realities across the [[multiverse]] suggested by [[Alpha Trion (G1)|Alpha Trion]] for [[Optimus Primal (BW)|Optimus Primal]] to recruit into his [[Child of Primus|Children of Primus]]. Optimus Primal decided to pluck [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] and [[Depth Charge (BW)|Depth Charge]] back from death instead. {{storylink|Homecoming (Universe)|Homecoming}}
[[File:WingsofHonor-shipslog.jpg|thumb|upright=1.66|That's ''Captain'' Eyesore to you, pal!]]
Nine million years ago, Thunderclash was originally a merchant, until his ship was taken hostage by the ''[[Fright and Bones]]'' Decepticon vessel. After a daring rescue in which he safely freed all seven of his comrades from enemy hands, Thunderclash enlisted into the military. He had difficulty putting up with his drill instructors barking orders at him all day long, and nearly resigned from the military, only for fate to intervene once more. On his way to his superior officer's quarters, he found the officer murdered, and came to grips as to why his training had been so extreme; to prevent the same fate from befalling himself. Thunderclash often drilled the mechs under his command in the ways of battle, even though his ship, the ''[[Eight Track (G1)|Eight Track]]'', was stationed on the outer rim of the galaxy. His quick and powerful mind and the ease with which he commanded respect made him an ideal mentor for new recruits. {{storylink|Hasbro Transformers Collectors' Club issue 40|Thunderclash's profile in Club magazine #40}}

One such recruit, a young Autobot named [[Kup (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Kup]], was on board the ''Eight Track'' when the ship was hailed by Commander [[Magnum]] of [[Autobot High Command]]. An important cargo hauler, the ''[[Van De Graaff]]'', was shot down by persons unknown over the planet [[Beta-Nine]]. Since Decepticons were suspected, Thunderclash's team was ordered to retrieve the ship's precious cargo before the enemy could get their hands on it.

Indeed, the Decepticons were waiting for the ''Eight Track'' when it arrived, and the ''Eight Track'' was forced to make a crash landing. Though [[Landshark (G1)|Landshark]] managed the landing with no casualties, the wiseass old mech began sowing seeds of uncertainty and fear. Thunderclash shot Landshark down quickly, reminding him at length that, as Autobots, it didn't matter how many Decepticons there were or how hopeless the situation was—all that mattered was the cargo they were sent after. After leaving their ship's wreck behind them, the four Autobots were suddenly attacked by a fleet of [[Seeker (body-type)|Skyraider]]s led by [[Banzai-Tron (G1)|Banzai-Tron]]. Immediately, Kup was separated from them, but Thunderclash ordered that the young Autobot was on his own while the team found proper cover.

[[File:WingsofHonor-headsup.jpg|left|thumb|upright=1.4|All aboard the yuck truck!]]
While the Decepticons were momentarily distracted, Thunderclash told [[Flak (G1)|Flak]] to radio Kup to meet him at the ''Van De Graaff''. On the way, Thunderclash hoped he could divert a few of the Decepticons away from the other two. Unfortunately, Thunderclash wasn't able to land a shot on the Decepticon that followed him, and he arrived at Kup's position at the ''Van De Graaff'' without being able to rid himself of Skyquake, and now also having Banzai-Tron and Gaihawk to deal with. Kup, however, had an idea. He set a blaster to "overload", placed it in a container, and offered it to Banzai-Tron as terms of their surrender. After it exploded, Banzai-Tron woke up to find Thunderclash holding his mortar launcher at his head.

Shortly thereafter, a recovery team arrived to take Thunderclash's crew, their Decepticon prisoners, and the cargo back home. By the time they had returned to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], the war had officially begun. Commander Magnum, in response to the bravery of Thunderclash's crew, were inducted into a special new Autobot military unit, the [[Elite Guard]]. {{storylink|Wings of Honor}}

A few years later, Thunderclash's team joined with [[Metalhawk (G1)|Metalhawk]]'s team to battle a horde of [[Virulent Clone]]s. The two teams of Elite Guardsmen were victorious. Magnum contacted Thunderclash to let him know that their R&R was being cut short, and Thunderclash's team proceeded to [[Space Port Bravo]], where they were assigned the ship ''[[Beast With Wings]]''. {{storylink|The Coming Storm: Part 2}}

[[File:BattleLines4-MagnumThunderclash.jpg|thumb|Thunderclash changes dialect every other panel, just to keep you guessing.]]

The squad was returning to Elite Guard HQ in the ''Beast With Wings'', when they discovered that they were unable to raise anyone on the ground. Thunderclash reacted in disbelief as Kup reported a newsfeed that HQ had been attacked by [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]] and pretty much everyone had been killed. {{storylink|The Coming Storm: Part 6}} Thunderclash and the other surviving members of the Elite Guard joined Magnum at the [[Autobot High Council Citadel]] intending to show the Council that the Guard was still functional. Thunderclash thought that [[Dion (G1)|Dion]] should be resting from his injuries, but Dion asserted he really had to be there to support Magnum. As it turned out, the Council were busy appointing [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] as the leader of a new Autobot military anyway. {{storylink|Battle Lines, Part 1}}

Not to be outdone, Magnum took the Elite Guard to find [[Deathsaurus (G1)|Deathsaurus]]'s base, first stopping off at the Elite Guard [[Auxiliary Weapons Locker]] for guns and a few extra troops. {{storylink|Battle Lines, Part 2}} It wasn't long before they were attacked by Deathsaurus's troops, including [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream]], the Combaticons and Deathsaurus himself. Thunderclash instructed the others to keep between the Combaticons so they couldn't merge, and traded blows with [[Vortex (G1)|Vortex]] while [[Onslaught (G1)|Onslaught]] tried to taunt him over his failure to be in time to help defend Elite Guard HQ. As the Combaticons merged, they were promptly blasted, and Thunderclash could only stare at the newcomers. {{storylink|Battle Lines, Part 3}} He came to the aid of Magnum, sending [[Lyzack (G1)|Lyzack]] flying with a punch after she damaged Magnum with her sword. He was helping Magnum up when they were again faced with Deathsaurus, however this time [[Sprocket (G1)|Sprocket]] jumped in to save them. In the aftermath of the battle, Thunderclash asked Magnum what they'd do next, but Magnum decided they needed to return to base for repairs. {{storylink|Battle Lines, Part 4}}

Back at base, he, Big Bang, and Dion wondered why the [[Gyronian Sentry|Gyronian Sentry Team]] hadn't arrived with the Combaticons yet, only to discover that the Sentry Team had been AWOL for the last decacycle. A week later, Thunderclash was at the walls when the Decepticons attacked the city with their new weapon [[Devastator (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Devastator]]. {{storylink|Battle Lines, Part 5}} When Kup recalled an earlier adventure they'd had on [[Derelictus Five]], he and Thunderclash attempted the same maneuver on Devastator albeit unsuccessfully. Their actions inspired Dion, and eventually the battle was won. As the war continued and Cybertron ran dangerously low on energy, many of the Autobots voluntarily went into stasis until others returned to re-energize the planet, but Thunderclash remained online. {{storylink|Battle Lines, Part 6}}

Thunderclash and Kup's [[Cybertron Defense Team (G1)|Cybertron Defense Team]] valiantly fought [[Shockwave (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Shockwave]]'s forces but were ultimately forced offworld. {{storylink|Hasbro Transformers Collectors' Club issue 44|Jhiaxus profile in Club magazine #44}}
Thunderclash is better and more noble than you are. Among his great feats:

*Thunderclash helped [[Ratchet (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Ratchet]] pass his medical exams. {{storylink|Little Victories}}
*Thunderclash formed the [[Thunderclash School of Heroic Arts]], where he was teacher, mentor, and friend to the almost-as-heroic [[Countdown (G1)|Countdown]]. {{storylink|The Sensuous Frame}}
*Thunderclash carried the [[Matrix of Leadership]] for [[Optimus Prime (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Optimus Prime]] during his first sabbatical. It was said the Matrix had to be surgically removed, so pleased it was with its host. {{storylink|Little Victories}}

[[Megatron (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Megatron]] tried to kill Thunderclash several times throughout the war. In one particular battle, Thunderclash fought with [[Tarn (DJD)|Damus]]. {{storylink|Shining Armor issue 3|Shining Armor #3}} {{storylink|The Sensuous Frame}} After the fall of [[Grindcore (prison)|Grindcore]], Thunderclash was shot through the spark. {{storylink|The Sensuous Frame}} To survive, he was hooked up to a gigantic life-support machine, which he eventually converted into a spaceship, the ''[[Vis Vitalis]]''. As it wirelessly powered him, he had to remain in close proximity to it at all times.

Once the war was over, Thunderclash turned his pursuits towards rediscovering the lost [[Knights of Cybertron]] with a brave crew and his First Officer [[Paddox]]. {{storylink|Little Victories}} Their journey was driven by dreams he had, each new one pointing them further in the right direction. {{storylink|The Sensuous Frame}} During their voyage, they came upon the colony planet of [[Caminus (planet)|Caminus]], and its residents, the Camiens, distant relatives of Cybertronians. Three Camiens, [[Windblade (G1)|Windblade]], [[Chromia (G1)|Chromia]], and [[Nautica (G1)|Nautica]], joined them in their mission. {{storylink|A 'Bot and Her City}} During their stay on the ship, Thunderclash told them about Optimus Prime and how he had rejected the rank of [[Prime (rank)|Prime]]. {{storylink|The Sum and Its Parts}} The three Camiens soon departed with [[Alpha Trion (G1)|Alpha Trion]] to repair a wounded [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]]. {{storylink|Burning Bright: Dark Cybertron Chapter 8|Burning Bright}}

[[File:LittleVictories MagnusThunderclashHug.jpg|right|thumb|upright=1.8|Is that a new suit you're wearing? Why, it's sharper than a page of Oscar Wilde witticisms that have been rolled up into a point, sprinkled with lemon juice and jabbed into someone's eye.]]
Some time later, his ship was damaged while "rescuing some orphans from an exploding sun," so he sought the ''[[Lost Light]]'' for a quantum jump to his engines. While on board, he happily reunited with Ratchet, commended [[Ultra Magnus (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Ultra Magnus]] on his article on the [[Autobot Code]] (particularly the interrelationship between typography and military justice), and bonded with [[Drift (G1)|Drift]] via his spiritualism. However, Paddox took this opportunity to reveal himself. Paddox was really a pair of [[Ammonite]]s posing as a Transformer, and now that the tide of his race's war had turned, he was charged with taking what valuables he could and returning home with them—namely, the ''Lost Light''{{'}}s quantum engines. He was quickly dispatched with a quick blow to the head and Thunderclash's ship was subsequently restored. Before Thunderclash returned to his quest, he signed an autograph for [[Rung (G1)|Rung]] and expressed his condolences to [[Hot Rod (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Rodimus]], for now the ''Lost Light'' would be crippled in its own quest to find the Knights of Cybertron. He assured Rodimus that should he find the Knights first, he would tell them that he owed his success to Rodimus and his crew. {{storylink|Little Victories}}

Later, Ultra Magnus would scold Rodimus for his immature reaction to Thunderclash. {{storylink|Remain in Light 5 of 5: This Calamitous Life|This Calamitous Life}}

[[File:SensuousFrame-ThunderClash.jpg|left|thumb|upright=1.45|I fought in the Belalugosian War. I was decorated, and used as a [[Christmas]] tree in the town square where people came and fed me cherry liqueur chocolates for the whole winter.]]
Following the loss of his half of the Matrix of Leadership along with the map it contained, Rodimus planned to seek out Thunderclash for help in finding the Knights of Cybertron. When Rodimus sarcastically made reference to "the greatest Autobot of all time", Optimus Prime ''immediately'' understood he was talking about Thunderclash. {{storylink|World, Shut Your Mouth Part 1: Towards Peace|Towards Peace}}

He saved a stranded Camien ship and inducted [[Firestar (G1)|Firestar]], [[Velocity (G1)|Velocity]], and their chums into the ''Vitalis''. Unfortunately they unwittingly brought an infestation on with them: [[personality tick]]s, emotive parasites who began to feast on Thunderclash's charisma. To keep him going, one of them fixed his spark wound (and was remembered as a passing doctor nobody could remember any details of). {{storylink|The Frail Gaze}} For six months afterwards, Thunderclash went from being fine to slowly getting worse. All he did before succumbing to [[rigor morphis]] was scratch out what appeared to be a map to [[Cyberutopia]] on the wall with a scalpel, based on a dying vision. The news went out and many, including Countdown, came to pay their respects in a "pre-wake".

[[File:Thunderclash TheFrailGaze.jpg|right|thumb|upright=1.4|There'll be time for explanations later, and hopefully- some sex.]]
What he could tell, and that nobody else could, was that the ship was riddled with the cloaked personality ticks: he even witnessed them attack his old student Countdown. When the ''Lost Light'' arrived and [[First Aid (G1)|First Aid]] monitored his life signs, he began shutting himself down selectively to make his life signs appear as a ''grammatically correct'' message: "Y0 u're all 3L1N D [[:File:Shockwavearealldead.jpg|All DEaD]]. {{storylink|The Sensuous Frame}} Once the ticks broke cover, Thunderclash—through sheer ''heroism''—transformed to hold the monsters back so others could escape. The short speech he gave while fighting them was so intensely noble that it ''hurt'' the ticks, giving a clue to their nature and ultimate defeat.

Once the infestation was stopped, Thunderclash was healed of his terminal injuries and no longer needed the ''Vitalis'', though he still needed some time to recover. He and some of his crew joined the ''Lost Light''. {{storylink|The Frail Gaze}}

[[File:SpeakMemoryPt2 ThunderclashInsideOut.jpg|left|thumb|upright=1.3|This is my best top, damn it!]]
Thunderclash was soon up and about and made his way to ''[[Swerve's]]''. There he was asked by [[Getaway]] and [[Atomizer]] if he would stand with them in a mutiny against Megatron. Much to their shock, Thunderclash quickly agreed. Sometime after however, he relapsed and fell back into stasis. {{storylink|The Plotters' Club (Part 2): Filling in the Blanks|Filling in the Blanks}}

A spark-energy blast from [[Tailgate (G1)|Tailgate]] woke Thunderclash from his coma {{storylink|Speak, Memory: Part 1}} just in time to help save the ''Light'' from [[Sunder (G1)|Sunder, the Tetrahex Ripper]]. Thunders and [[Megatron (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Megatron]] drove the killer away from Rung and Tailgate and pursued him all the way to his [[Sceptre|corpse-ship]], where the hero dissed him for suddenly dropping his spoooooky voice. In response, the killer turned Thunderclash inside out! Thankfully, he recovered after Sunder was defeated. {{storylink|Speak, Memory! (Part 2)}}

While some members of the crew were taking advantage of temporal fissures in Swerve's to look on the past, Thunderclash and Velocity were having a conversation with Firestar over the comms.{{storylink|No Guns, No Swords, No Briefcases}}

Thunderclash took part in a battle on Millarium, fighting alongside Ultra Magnus. Later, he was present for Megatron's lecture on pre-Functionist folklore, where they discussed the Knights, and in particular the strange gear symbol they kept encountering.

[[File:FillingInTheBlanks GetawayNudgeGunsThunderclash.jpg|right|thumb|upright=1.3|'Fraid I'm going to have to do something a bit sissy now...black out.]]
A few hours later, Megatron, Rodimus and their supporters were marooned on the Necrobot's planet, as part of [[Getaway]]'s mutiny. {{storylink|The Dying of the Light: (1) How Bright Their Frail Deeds|How Bright Their Frail Deeds}} Thunderclash walked onto the bridge as Getaway made his dramatic monologue to Team Rodimus and joined the crew in grilling Getaway about the "visitors" he had mentioned.

At a team meeting, regarding the [[Warren]], Thunderclash scribbled some extra clan markings onto Rodimus's map to [[Cyberutopia]], before a distress signal came in from [[Frayus]] which Getaway claimed would only be a "distraction". An incensed Thunderclash snapped at Getaway, only to be interrupted by a transmission from Rodimus announcing the stranded crew mates would soon be executed by the [[Decepticon Justice Division]]. His patience exhausted, Thunderclash demanded to know the truth, before declaring he was rounding up volunteers for a rescue mission... only for Atomizer to incapacitate him with an arrow. Getaway then emptied his [[nudge gun]] into Thunderclash, knocking him into stasis. As part of Getaway's deal with Froid and Sunder, Thunderclash was then placed within a memory loop where he relived the moments from the mutiny to his decision to find the stranded crew. {{storylink|The Plotters' Club (Part 2): Filling in the Blanks|Filling in the Blanks}}

[[File:JourneysEnd ThunderclashPunchesGetaway.jpg|left|thumb|upright=1.45|In the decades that followed, Thunderclash searched countless realities and met thousands of different Getaways. Thunderclash's body was then placed in the med-bay behind a locked door. Upon returning to the ''Lost Light'', seeing Thunderclash's state only served to increase [[First Aid (G1)|First Aid]]'s mounting suspicions. Once the truth came out, Getaway confessed what had truly happened to Thunderclash before he placed the [[Protectobot (G1)|Protectobots]] in the same loop. {{storylink|The Plotters' Club (Part 1): Full Circle|Full Circle}}

Riptide eventually awoke all those trapped in the loops. First Aid directed them all to the morgue to retrieve the corpse of [[Ambulon]] to serve as a substitute limb for [[Defensor (G1)|Defensor]]. Thunderclash took point on the way to the shuttle bay before [[Mirage (G1)|Mirage]] reported they would need Defensor. In the shuttle bay, Thunderclash charged right at Getaway, beating him down before he was shot from behind by [[Star Saber (G1)|Star Saber]]. A repentant [[Atomizer]] shot Star Saber with the nudge gun, allowing Riptide and First Aid to drag Thunderclash onto Star Saber's ship and escape the ''Lost Light''. {{storylink|The Plotters' Club (Part 3): Journey's End|Journey's End}}
First Aid got Thunderclash fixed up on [[Troja Major]], and along the way they picked up the long lost [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobot]] commander [[Grimlock (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Grimlock]] and the blacksmith [[Wipe-Out]], who had a Q-class ship. Following a tracker left on the ''Lost Light'', they caught up with it at [[Mederi]], only to find the crew had been turned into [[Sparkeater (creature)|Sparkeaters]] and were menacing Rodimus and his unit. The groups teamed up, and Thunderclash joined a squad aboard the Q-class cruiser to infiltrate the ''Lost Light'' and get at Getaway. When they arrived, Getaway opened the oil reservoir into the shuttle bay, exposing the group to [[Scraplet]]s. {{storylink|Crucible (Part 1): A Dance Before Dying|A Dance Before Dying}} Fortunately, [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]] had previously formed a bond with these Scraplets, semi-domesticating them, which saved Thunderclash and the others. {{storylink|Crucible (Part 2): Lūstrāre|Lūstrāre}} With the Sparkeaters saved down on the planet, everyone regrouped aboard the retaken ''Lost Light''.
Thunderclash was a soldier against [[Exarchon]] in the [[War of the Threefold Spark]]. After Exarchon was defeated, Thunderclash publicly retired but actually became an undercover operative for [[Colonial Security]]. Under the guise of a traveling stunt show, Thunderclash assembled his team- the [[Wreckers]], to patrol the colonies and covertly deal with threats to order and innocent lives. The Wreckers operated without back-up or support from Colonial Security, leaving it vague where their self-declared authority came from in the first place.

After nearly two megacycles out on the colonial rim, the Wreckers were drawn into a conflict on [[Velocitron]]. A terrorist cell called [[Mayhem Attack Squad|Mayhem]] hijacked the broadcasting of a Wreckers stunt stream to announce their opposition to the [[Speedia 500]]. Velocitron regularly picked a new [[Senate|First Senator]] to rule them using the outcome of the race, and Mayhem wanted to tear down that order. Thunderclash ordered the ''[[Stuntmaster]]'' to Velocitron in order to interfere with Mayhem's plans. While [[Aileron]] planned for a covert deployment, Thunderclash changed the plan on her, seemingly on a whim, and announced the Wreckers' presence at a press conference. He even stated the Wreckers would be participating in the Speedia 500 as a show of support. {{storylink|Tread & Circuits Part 1}}

[[File:Tread&Circuits3 ClashVBlast.jpg|upright=1.66|thumb|right|Clash v. Blast]]
In preparing for the race, the Wreckers scouted the top racers to assess whether any were secretly supportive of Mayhem. Thunderclash made contact with [[Leadfoot (G2)|Leadfoot]], an eager racing historian who genuinely cared about the Speedia and Velocitron. Thunderclash and Aileron continued to disagree about his tactics, but they were interrupted by a radio message by their chronicler [[Circuit (G1)|Circuit]]. The cameraman had tracked down Mayhem, but was shot relaying his position to the others. He was seriously injured, and [[Minerva (G1 robot)|Minerva]] did her best to stabilize him before the race began. {{storylink|Tread & Circuits Part 2}}

Once the Speedia 500 got underway, Thunderclash's natural bulk kept him towards the back of the racers. Mayhem was true to their word and began attacking racers on the track. Leadfoot and the other racers joined Thunderclash in beating down the terrorists who showed themselves, with Thunderclash defeating [[Thunderblast (G1)|Thunderblast]]. As several members of Mayhem made their way towards the leading drivers, Thunderclash used Leadfoot as a skateboard to catch up. He bounded from one racer to the next before tackling [[Submarauder (G1)|Submarauder]]. As soon as he made contact, though, the local [[Security Operations]] appeared in droves and seized control of the scene. Submarauder got away under the cover Sec-Ops provided. An [[Decepticon|Ascenticon]] named [[Knock Out (G1)|Knock Out]] crossed the finish line first, but all of the surviving Mayhem escaped. {{storylink|Tread & Circuits Part 3}}

[[File:Tread&Circuits4 SkullgrinVThunderclash.jpg|upright=1.66|thumb|left]]
Days later, Thunderclash and the Wreckers attended the ceremonies at the Velocitronian Senate swearing in the First Senator and new delegates. Submarauder and Mayhem made an assassination attempt on Knock Out, skewering him with a harpoon gun from the balconies. Mayhem then sealed the exits to turn the forums into a kill zone. Thunderclash took on [[Skullgrin]] and inspired Leadfoot to lead the other spectators to safety. Several members of Mayhem were beaten by the Wreckers and turned over to Sec-Ops, but Minerva was caught holding the harpoon gun and arrested for attempted murder.

Back on the ''Stuntmaster'', the Wreckers struggled to hold together. They publicly announced a hiatus to their stunt show, a final broadcast for Circuit before he passed away from his wounds. The four remained Wreckers questioned whether their mission would continue, but Thunderclash had plans to go recruiting, rebuilding their numbers to support Cybertron and the colonies into the future. {{storylink|Tread & Circuits Part 4}}
'''Razorbeast''' is a stubborn infantry fighter with great strength and tenacity befitting a warthog. His self-reliant, self-sufficient nature and fierce refusal to give up has made him a prime choice for important but dangerous solo missions. Razorbeast was a Maximal double-agent planted in the Predacon ranks by Lio Convoy to spy on Magmatron. After becoming part of Magmatron's inner circle, Razorbeast was brought to prehistoric Earth in order to raise an army out of the stasis pods left there after the conclusion of the Beast Wars. Magmatron had him send out a shell program to the pods so that they’d be born as Predacons upon their activation, but Razorbeast arranged so that at least some of the pods were activated as Maximals. When Magmatron's agents in the field reported this irregularity in their scheme, Razorbeast fled rather than attempt to maintain his cover. {{storylink|Shell Game issue 1|Shell Game #1}}
===2006 IDW ''Beast Wars'' continuity===
At the tail-end of the Great War, Razorbeast was sent out to accompany [[Tigatron]] in an attempt to broker peace-talks between the Autobots and Decepticons, hoping to end the war without further carnage. Unfortunately, the first enemy camp they approached was headed by the renegade soldier [[Megatron (BW)/Beast Wars cartoon continuity|Megatron]], who sicced [[Predaking (G1)|Predaking]] on them. Razorbeast fled before the gestalt could cut him down. {{storylink|Dawn of the Predacus}}

[[File:Cybertronian Razorbeast.jpg|90px|thumb|Maybe his alt mode is a Razor scooter?]]
Razorbeast later came to be an undercover agent embedded by [[Lio Convoy]] in [[Magmatron]]'s organization to discover, and if possible to foil, the general's plans. He traveled back in time to prehistoric [[Earth]] with Magmatron and his crew to retrieve the rogue [[Megatron (BW)/Beast Wars cartoon continuity|Megatron]], the group entering [[chronal phase]] to avoid detection. However, this mission was just a front to the true plan- to challenge the Maximals for control of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. Magmatron needed an army, and prehistoric Earth was littered with the stasis pods that had been abandoned by the ''[[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]''. Magmatron had Razorbeast awaken these [[protoform]]s as [[Predacon (BW)|Predacons]], however, Razorbeast inserted a virus into the protoform-awakening software which allowed some of them to retain their Maximal allegiance. {{storylink|The Gathering issue 1|The Gathering #1}}

Fleeing from Magmatron, Razorbeast hooked up with the few Maximals he could immediately find: [[B'Boom]], [[Snarl (BW)|Snarl]], [[Optimus Minor]], [[Bonecrusher (BW)|Bonecrusher]], [[Ramulus]], and [[Wolfang (Maximal)|Wolfang]]. B'Boom in particular had difficulty trusting Razorbeast at first, as the warthog's camouflage programming caused him to broadcast a Predacon spark signature even now. An initial excursion to obtain a [[unspace|transwarp]] signal booster from the [[Ravage (G1)|Tri-Predacus Agent]]'s crashed [[transwarp cruiser]] saw Razorbeast and his group fight Magmatron directly. They escaped after Razorbeast managed to exploit the weakness of Magmatron's multiple [[beast mode]] components and bury him under an avalanche. While Optimus Minor and Snarl managed to obtain the transwarp signal booster, Razorbeast dubbed it too damaged and in need of replacement parts. {{storylink|The Gathering issue 2|The Gathering #2}}

[[File:Razorbeast Magmatron TheGathering4.jpg|left|upright=1.4|thumb|No wonder Magmatron kickbanned him. Clearly HAX!]]
Next, Razorbeast's rag-tag crew attempted to raid the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] for the necessary supplies to repair the signal booster and send a distress call back to Cybertron. Razorbeast felt this would be less likely to cause damage to the timestream than taking anything from the remains of the [[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]. While they successfully obtained the parts they needed, Magmatron's capture of Megatron and an imminent return trip to Cybertron via a portable transwarp gate required immediate intervention. Razorbeast and Optimus Minor set out to stop Magmatron as the others worked to send the distress call. {{storylink|The Gathering issue 3|The Gathering #3}}

In a fortuitous bit of timing, the wandering [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] arrived at the transwarp gate and engaged Magmatron in battle as Razorbeast and Minor formulated a plan. Magmatron defeated Grimlock and found his next opponent in Razorbeast, who stepped out into the open to challenge him. Using the [[Chronal phase facilitator|chronal phase armband]] to shift in-and-out of Magmatron's timezone, Razorbeast managed to keep him occupied long enough for Optimus Minor to get the unconscious Megatron off the transwarp pad. Magmatron accidentally fell onto the pad and Razorbeast blasted the controls as it activated, sending the Predacon general to parts unknown. In the end, Razorbeast's company joined up with [[Torca (BW)|Torca]]'s militia, [[Prowl II|Prowl]]'s air force, and the remaining Maximals to continue protecting Earth against the remaining Predacons and their new commander, the rebuilt Ravage. {{storylink|The Gathering issue 4|The Gathering #4}}

[[File:Razorbeast Ravage TheAscending1.jpg|upright=1.3|thumb|-And ''this'' little piggy...was a ''smartass!'']]
Razorbeast continued to lead the Maximals against Ravage's Predacons, enduring hit-and-run attacks for several weeks. He felt increasingly uneasy about their situation, confiding in Wolfang and Prowl that he didn't think the distress call they had managed to send ever made it to Cybertron. Wolfang and Prowl attempted to put his unease to rest, but Razorbeast simply couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more he could be doing. Shortly thereafter, Ravage set his Predacons on a full-tilt assault against the Maximals, hoping to steal the chronal phase armbands that would allow him to sync up with the "[[Beast Wars: Transformers (cartoon)|other]]" Beast Wars. Razorbeast led the counterattack, and upon noticing that Ravage wasn't present, retreated to the cave that the armbands had been hidden. He found Ravage there, and with Snarl's help, managed to knock the former [[Decepticon]] unconscious...or so Razorbeast thought. {{storylink|The Ascending issue 1|The Ascending #1}}
[[File:BerserkRazorbeast.jpg|left|upright=0.9|thumb|Hakuna MatatAAAIIGGHH!!!]]
Razorbeast bound Ravage and left him in the cave to return to the battle outside. Ravage then revealed himself to be playing [[roboto-possum]], snagged the armbands, and activated one. Razorbeast and his Maximals continued their battle with the Predacons, and the [[Pack]] suddenly arrived on Earth to turn the tide. Victory and rescue seemed imminent to a relieved Razorbeast, until Ravage emerged from chronal phase, interrupting a reunion with Lio Convoy. Ravage told of both Magmatron's survival and the looming threat of [[Shokaract]]. Before anything more could be elaborated on, Shokaract's herald [[Latolata|Rartorata]] appeared in the skies above, swooping down and stabbing Razorbeast with his [[Angolmois Energy|Angolmois]]-laced stinger. The other Maximals and Predacons watched in horror as Razorbeast began mutating into a giant, feral beast. {{storylink|The Ascending issue 2|The Ascending #2}}

The Maximals were forced to wrestle the berserk Razorbeast to the ground and restrain him to get him under control as the Predacons engaged Rartorata. Lio Convoy managed to break through the Angolmois-madness and bring Razorbeast back to his senses temporarily, but when [[Drancron]] and [[Elphaorpha|Elephorca]] arrived on the scene, Razorbeast broke free and turned his rage on the two [[Blentron|Blendtron]]s. Lio Convoy and Ravage used Razorbeast's maddened attack to marshal their forces for a return trip to Cybertron, with Lio saluting his stricken comrade's sacrifice. {{storylink|The Ascending issue 3|The Ascending #3}}

[[File:DeadRazorbeast.jpg|upright=1.1|thumb|That'll do, Maximal. That'll do.]]
Razorbeast managed to defeat Elephorca largely by himself, and the others managed to beat Drancron and Rartorata. With no new enemies to focus his rage on, Razorbeast began to lose control again. A distraught Optimus Minor was forced to shoot his friend in the head, killing him, lest he harm the surviving Maximals and Predacons.

In the aftermath, a returned Magmatron would show his respect for a fallen foe by remarking that Razorbeast was deserving of a monument for his actions. {{storylink|The Ascending issue 4|The Ascending #4}}
When the [[Vehicon Apocalypse]] began, he was recruited along with [[Ro-Tor (RID)|Ro-Tor]], [[Apexus]], and [[Vertebreak (BWU)|Vertebreak]] to serve [[Lio Convoy]] in a small commando unit, breach the [[Grand Mal]], and hopefully shut down the [[Vehicon (BM)|Vehicon]]s at their source. After infiltrating the Mal, Lio Convoy and [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] pressed ahead to the control center while Razorbeast and the surviving commandos provided a distraction. Razorbeast was forced to mercy-kill Apexus when his comrade was infected by a Vehicon. As time wore on, the surviving commandos began working their way towards engineering and possible points of sabotage, but Blackarachnia intercepted them. The fight with [[Galva Convoy]] had been hard on both sides, and Lio Convoy was near death. Blackarachnia commandeered Ro-Tor and the engineering mission, and gave Razorbeast a new one: ''Save. The. Razorbeast was contained in one of the many stasis pods on the ''Axalon'' that were ejected when the ship was caught in a battle with the ''Darksyde.'' Left in orbit of the planet both ships crashed on, the pod was soon brought down to the surface due to sabotage carried out by Blackarachnia. However, due to her not being able to upload the entirety of Tarantulas' code to said pods, Razorbeast kept his Maximal programming. When his pod fell into a lake it was unable to release its opening hatch until [[Skold]] happened to find and carry it out of the water. Thankful to his rescuer and not completely aware of the situation, Razorbeast struck up a friendship with the Predacon. Unbeknownst to either of them, however, they were being watched and tested by the [[Vok]], who provoked a pack of savage ironwolves into attacking the pair. Razorbeast quickly charged and attacked the group with his robot and beast modes whilst Skold attempted to persuade him to save himself, but he refused to leave his new friend. Unfortunately, despite his speed Razorbeast was quickly overwhelmed by the pack and received several serious injuries. Skold tore the pack apart to save him but found his body mangled by the creatures. As he Slipped into stasis lock Skold was forced to take him back to the Maximals and the ''Axalon'', knowing the Predacons wouldn't have him. After some tense negotiations, Optimus Primal took his body back into the ship, promising they would do what they could to help him.
**''Accessories'': Mane-blaster

: Part of the very first wave of ''[[Beast Wars: Transformers (toyline)|Beast Wars]]'' product, Razorbeast transforms from an organic red warthog to [[robot mode]] with a spring-loaded one-step [[autotransformation]] activated by pulling up his tail. His mane separates from his back to become a dual barreled (non-firing) handgun; the character's box art indicates this was originally intended to be a two-piece accessory that could be held in both hands, but that obviously didn't happen.

: The initial releases of Razorbeast and the other wave-1 Basics and Deluxes came on a "rocky bubble" card. This quickly changed to the "smooth bubble" style, with all toys re-released in this style of packaging. As such, the rocky packaging is rarer and goes for more on the secondary market.

:This toy was promoted in Japanese catalogs as "Razorback", but was ultimately unreleased in that country.
-->*The card-art for Razorbeast shows him with two handguns. It's possible that an early design of the toy was intended to split the mane in half. In the comics, he alternates between holding his gun in his hand and leaving it mounted on his back while firing.
*[[Simon Furman]] picked Razorbeast as the main Maximal character of ''The Gathering'' before he even saw a picture of him. Razorbeast's name just stood out to him. '''A weary Megatron reflects on the history of the Great War as Starscream tries to convince his former leader to retake command.'''

==Synopsis==
Since the end of the Great War, Megatron has abandoned the [[Decepticon]]s in favor of eking out a solitary existence in the deepest, least inhabitable regions of the [[Rust Sea]]—when the damaged [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] makes a rough landing, the former Decepticon leader gruffly reminds Starscream that he asked to be left alone. When the damaged [[Seeker (body-type)|Seeker]] falls unconscious, however, Megatron's compassion compels him to bring Starscream inside to his jury-rigged shelter and repair his former lieutenant. As soon as he regains consciousness, Starscream explains his recent run-in with [[Blurr (SG)|Blurr]] and the other [[bodyscrapper]]s, who've put a bounty on his head after somehow catching wind of his recent activities. When the conversation turns to Starscream's former ally [[Jetfire (SG)|Jetfire]], however, Starscream abruptly changes the conversation to Megatron's dingy living quarters. As he takes in the sight of a tattered Decepticon poster on the wall, Starscream admits that it reminds him of the first time he ever saw Megatron...

''Before the war, Starscream was a scholar; he and Jetfire visited the [[Senate]] in [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]] to discuss funding for their work on the same day that Megatron held an anti-[[empurata]] rally outside the building. The pair watch from the sidelines as an argument between Megatron and security officer [[Prowl (SG)|Prowl]] over their right to protest turns heated—when Prowl accuses Megatron of getting away with his rabble-rousing only because his [[Optimus Prime (SG)|Orion Pax]] lets him, the crowd looks on as Megatron loses his temper and throws Prowl aside.''

Starscream admits that ''this'' was the moment that inspired him to join the Decepticons: the idea of a lowly miner taking a stand against a bloated and corrupt Senate inspired him and countless other 'bots to rise up and join the Decepticons. Megatron's memory of that day is less rosy, however; that fight ended with his first arrest, and the Senate holding him up as an example to keep the other manual workers in their place. Again, Megatron asks why Starscream came to him for assistance, and Starscream explains that, with a target on his back, he needs help recruiting others to the cause. Megatron growls that Starscream would need a ''real'' leader to inspire a new generation of Decepticons and Megatron is no leader, not anymore.

''As he stews in his holding cell, an officer abruptly tells Megatron that he's free to go; the moment he sets foot outside, he discovers that his friend [[Optimus Prime (SG)|Orion Pax]] has pulled some strings and cleared Megatron of all charges, despite an acidic comment that some jail time might've done the Decepticon leader some good. The subsequent argument marks the end of their friendship-Orion accuses Megatron of spreading chaos under the guise of "empathy", and Megatron retorts by reminding Orion of his secret police, and their role in Senator [[Shockwave (SG)|Shockwave]]'s recent arrest and subsequent torture. The disagreement escalates into a full-on brawl; when Prowl and [[Chromedome (SG)|Chromedome]] step in to break up the fight, Pax instructs them to let Megatron go; despite Orion's warning that Megatron could've stood alongside him on the winning team, Megaron retorts that a 'bot like Orion could ''never'' share his power''.

As he and Starscream step out into the Rust Sea, Megatron privately reflects on his turbulent friendship with Orion—did he allow him to pull strings out of genuine concern for the 'bots he'd be leaving behind if he went to jail, or out of his own selfish desires? Starscream snaps him back to the present; although the flier begs Megatron to take up arms and fight the good fight again, Megatron shouts that he's ''not'' Decepticon leader anymore: his bad decisions cost them everything and lost them the war.

''When Orion Pax—now Optimus Prime—turned his attention to [[Earth]], the Decepticons fought to protect the planet and its supplies of [[Rarified Energon]], and as collateral damage continued to mount, their destructive conflict came to a head when the Autobots attacked [[Los Angeles]]. In what would become Megatron's final battle on Earth, the Decepticon leader lead the charge and eventually threw himself into a duel against his old nemesis. If he could not kill Optimus, Megatron reasoned, then he could at least martyr himself for the cause—and although Optimus beat him to the brink of death before laying waste to Earth, Megatron somehow survived. Cursing himself for ever trusting Orion, Megatron eventually salvaged a ship and limped back to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], only to find that the triumphant Autobots had already conquered the planet: the tyrant he'd once called a friend had destroyed everything he'd ever worked for.''

Starscream, on the other hand, remembers the battle differently. Despite overwhelming odds, Megatron courageously led his men into battle—a crack shot from his [[fusion cannon]] saved [[Thundercracker (SG)|Thundercracker]] from [[Goldbug (SG)|Bumblebee]], and the sight of their commander fighting on inspired them to redouble their efforts. Only when Optimus Prime arrived did Megatron choose to lay down his life for the cause, secure in the knowledge that his sacrifice would buy time for Starscream to coordinate the evacuation of Earth. Despite his hesitation, Starscream followed his orders to the letter... and although Megatron still thinks himself a failure, Starscream assures him that everyone who survived the battle—survived because of ''him'', and his willingness to lose to keep them alive. For too long, the Decepticons have kept to the shadows, but Starscream might have given the Decepticons a new edge. During the war, Megatron and Starscream discussed using Starscream's unique [[spark]] as an indestructible repository... and now, Starscream's found a way to ''use'' that spark to reactivate the [[Titan (group)|Titans]] and take back Cybertron!
==Quotes==
"So many of the bots in this city have grown comfortable with this pathetic hierarchy you've set up. Where those of us that labor so that you don't have to are worthy of nothing but your cruelty. It is '''amusing''' to see you sputter when confronted by someone who is done with your '''bullying'''."
:—'''Megatron'''

"You could have joined me, Megatron. Been on my side. If it weren't for-" <br>
"—That's where you are wrong, Orion. You may have offered me a place '''at''' your side... but I could never have been '''on''' your side."
:—'''Orion Pax''' and '''Megatron'''

"To this day, I wonder about the times he pulled strings. Was I complicit in letting him do so? Did I do it because my bots needed me outside with them? Or was I masking my own selfish desires? Perhaps I've spent my time in the Rust Seas making up for the time I should have spent in other cages."
:—'''Megatron'''

"I hoped it would come to this—'''old friend!'''" <br>
"We are '''past''' friendships." <br>
"We are past '''nothing''', Megatron! Until '''I''' say we are!" <br>
"No! I have never followed your orders, '''Prime'''. I see no reason to start now."
:—Couples counseling with '''Optimus Prime''' and '''Megatron'''

"We spoke of how you saved Thundercracker, with a pointblank shot that led to Bumblebee needing a new body. We drank to the vision of you taking down wave upon wave of Autobots. And how '''tyrants''' fell at your feet. Perhaps '''you''' saw yourself as a '''martyr'''. But to us, you were a '''hero'''."

==Notes==
===Continuity notes===
* The... um... shattered glass on Optimus Prime's right windshield has been a prominent feature since his very first appearance in the original [[Shattered Glass (issue)|"Shattered Glass]]" comic; while its prominence in the original Fun Publications stories was never explained, this issue gives it some significance by revealing that it's a scar left over from his very first fight with Megatron from before the war.
* During the battle on Earth, Megatron hits Bumblebee dead-on with his fusion cannon; going by Starscream's narration, this would be the incident that necessitated Bumblebee's complete rebuild into his present-day identity of Goldbug.
* The late Blurr makes a silhouetted appearance during the flashback to Earth; he'd previously described Earth as a key battlefield in [[Shattered Glass issue 1|issue #1]], but it wasn't clear if he'd actually gone to Earth himself with Optimus and the other Autobots.
* A [[Titan (group)|Titan]] resembling [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]] and colored to resemble [[Metrotitan (G1)|Metrotitan]] appeared last issue, seemingly echoing the "[[immersant]]" Titans from [[Transformers (2019 comic)|IDW's ''Transformers'']] reboot, ancient figures who've merged with their homeworld's geography. Echoing a trend that's most recently surfaced in 2021's [[My Little Pony/Transformers: The Magic of Cybertron|''My Little Pony'' crossover]], it seems that most contemporary depictions of Cybertron will feature dormant Titans in some capacity.

===Transformers references===
* The [[Shattered Glass issue 1|first issue]] of this miniseries primarily used characters who hadn't appeared in the original ''Shattered Glass'' run or had already appeared in Hasbro's new ''Generations'' subline. This issue features a huge number of characters who'd appeared in some way, shape, or form in the original ''Shattered Glass'' run; although most sport bodies based on their most recent ''[[Transformers: Generations (toyline)|Generations]]'' toyline, all of them are colored to resemble their original ''Shattered Glass'' selves—examples include a yellow and grey Shockwave, a black Ironhide, a Ratbat colored to resemble [[Batman]], and a... well, let's just say "aggressively technicolored" Thundercracker. One notable exception is Prowl, who's had a made-up white, blue, and lime paintjob applied to his [[Prowl (G1)/toys#War for Cybertron: Siege|''Siege'' toy]].
* Upon discovering Megatron's underground bunker, Starscream sardonically compares him to a "[[driller]]", the giant, tunnelling kaiju from [[Transformers: Dark of the Moon (film)|''Dark of the Moon'' film]]. Additionally, Megatron's habit of skulking around the desert, clad in a tattered cape, evokes [[Megatron (Movie)|his live-action film series]] counterpart's behaviour in that same film.
* The first two flashbacks take heavy inspiration from the works of [[James Roberts]]—together, they constitute a bizarro version of Megatron's rise to power as depicted in the [[Chaos Theory Part 1|"Chaos Theory"]] duology, and feature additional story elements lifted from ''[[The Transformers: More than Meets the Eye]]''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s "[[Shadowplay, Part 1: Post Hoc|Shadowplay]]" arc.
** While the previous ''Shattered Glass'' universe established Optimus and Megatron as an evil librarian and a heroic university professor with no apparent connections to one another, most if not all contemporary ''Transformers'' stories have adopted some version of the ''[[Transformers: Exodus|Exodus]]'' novel as a backstory, most notably by depicting Optimus and Megatron as friends and political contemporaries during Cybertron's pre-war era. While Megatron's disenfranchised miner backstory has been a staple of the character since the days of ''[[The Transformers: Megatron Origin|Megatron Origin]]'', its depiction of Orion Pax as a sinister police officer serving a corrupt Senate hew much closer to [[2005 IDW continuity|IDW's first ''Transformers'' universe]]. Furthering the connection, Megatron's accusations of Pax's "secret police" echo the sinister [[Institute]] from ''More than Meets the Eye''.
** [[Prowl (SG)|Prowl]] and [[Chromedome (SG)|Chromedome]] are shown to be police officers on the beat with Orion Pax, just as the "Shadowplay" trilogy depicted them as fellow investigators during the early days of the Decepticon movement.
** Megatron's anti-[[empurata]] rallies are specifically a protest against Senator [[Shockwave (SG)|Shockwave]], who was recently kidnapped and tortured by Orion Pax's secret police in an attempt to take away his compassion: in "Shadowplay", Shockwave voluntarily took the fall for Orion Pax and his gang of outlaws after they foiled a plot to implicate the Decepticons in an assassination, and suffered both [[empurata]] and [[shadowplay]] as a result. Given that this is a mirror universe, it's noted that, rather than turning him cold and emotionless, the procedure went wrong and left him with a hyperdeveloped sense of empathy for others, tying into how the original ''Shattered Glass'' stories depicted him as a kindly diplomat.
* Ratbat's pre-war job as a senator has its roots in the ''Megatron Origin'' miniseries, which depicted him as an arrogant, opportunistic humanoid Transformer who was forcefully changed into an animalistic cassette by the Decepticons in a bit of karmic retribution. In contrast, ''Shattered Glass'' Ratbat is shown to be pretty chummy with Megatron and the other Decepticons.
** A ''Shattered Glass'' version of [[Whirl (SG)|Whirl]], IDW's ''other'' most famous empurata victim, features on what seems to be a pro-empurata poster on page eight. ''More than Meets the Eye'''s Whirl despised the [[Functionist Council]] for taking away his head and hands, so it makes sense that his mirror-universe self would come out in favor of the punishment.
* Jetfire and Starscream's shared background as scientists and former friends are traits inspired by the [[The Transformers (cartoon)|Generation 1 cartoon]] episode "[[Fire in the Sky]]."
* The first panel on page eight features T-shaped lamppost colored to resemble [[Soundwave (SG)|''Shattered Glass'' Soundwave]], referencing his famous disguise in "[[More than Meets the Eye, Part 1]]"—given the context of the scene, it's possible that this actually ''is'' Soundwave keeping an eye on the conversation, but the comic doesn't confirm or deny this. The same panel also features what appears to be a police model [[Watchdog (G1)|Watchdog]] drone with a lightbar.
* Cybertronians based on [[Skydive (G1 Aerialbot)|Skydive]] and [[Slapdash (G1)|Slapdash]] are shown taking part in Megatron's protest. Another Decepticon who uses the [[Battlecharger]] body-type appears in the Earth flashback, but the block colors leave it ambiguous whether it's Runabout, Runamuck, or some other guy.
* In this universe, Megatron's history on Earth apparently follows his [[Megatron (Movie)|live-action]] and [[Megatron (Animated)|''Animated'' counterparts]]; his speech to the Decepticons makes note that he crashed on Earth, and that other Decepticons arriving later to help repair him. Other Decepticons arrived to help him defend Earth's supplies of [[Rarified Energon]], a miracle substance that played a major role in the original ''Shattered Glass''—the [[Ultra Magnus (SG)|evil Ultra Magnus]] used the stuff to destroy the ''[[Transformers: Classics|Classics]]'' universe in 2012's "[[Invasion (issue)|Invasion]]" storyline.
* Autobot casualties in Los Angeles include [[Rodimus (SG)|Rodimus]] and [[Sideswipe (SG)|Sideswipe]], who both played major roles in the original ''Shattered Glass'' stories. Sideswipe's body prominently displays an intact Autobot insignia, suggesting that, unlike his Fun Publications counterpart, he never changed sides.
* Bumblebee's original body never appeared in the original ''Shattered Glass'' comics or prose stories. His appearance here has him copping the white and purple color scheme from his [[Bumblebee (SG Animated)|''Shattered Glass Animated'']] counterpart, who was in turn conceived as a homage to [[BotCon 2007]]'s [[Bug Bite (GoBots)#Timelines|''Timelines'' Bug Bite]].
*It goes without saying that Starscream describing his [[spark]] as an "indestructible safe" hearkens back to the character's traditional "indestructible spark" as one of his character traits, which was first established in the ''[[Beast Wars: Transformers (cartoon)|Beast Wars]]'' cartoon "[[Possession]]".

===Real-world references===
* A half-glimpsed poster on the streets of Iacon show numerous miners raising their tools into the air against a red and yellow background, underneath the slogan "MINERS UNITE", a bit of memetic signage inspired by the early days of the Soviet Union. Given that James Roberts would take heavy inspiration from the lives of both {{w|Karl Marx|Karl Marx}} and {{w|Joseph Stalin|Joseph Stalin}} while fleshing out the history of [[Megatron (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|IDW's original Megatron]], it's apropos that Megatron's heroic counterpart would also borrow some of their iconography.

===Errors===
* It's not ''necessarily'' an error, given that it's an alternate universe and all, but Megatron's description of Shockwave's fate notes that the empurata procedure was intended to alter Shockwave's personality, in keeping with the ''More than Meets the Eye'' riff. However, in that comic, the Senate used [[shadowplay]] to alter the personalities of dissenters; empurata was a purely physical punishment that didn't affect the personalities of its victims.
* On page five, "reckless" is misspelt "wreckless".
* Prowl's line of "stop this instant!" erroneously uses "instance".
* On page seventeen, "point blank" is spelt as one word, "pointblank".
* In the final battle, a blue-and-white cassette-bot makes a cameo. This is most likely supposed to be either Frenzy or Rumble; however, both 'bots appear a few pages later, with one colored to resemble [[Eject (G1)|Eject]] and the other [[Rewind (G1)|Rewind]]. Presumably, it's just a colouring error... or maybe it's meant to be a new deco for [[Enemy (SG)|Enemy]]?
