:Rapido is an Autobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Rapido outranks you. He outranks everybody. Even Optimus Prime, even though he humbly retains the job of "Platoon Commander" of the Axelerators.

Suave, unflappable and endlessly clever, Rapido uses his tactical genius and incredible land-speed to bring the Autobots ever closer to final victory over the Decepticons. His plans are amazingly complex, plotted down to the smallest detail. Even when things are rough, he keeps his cool and works out a plan to turn things around again.

As part of the Power Core Combiner program, he operates under the code name Racemaster. When combined with his four specialized Drones, both his physical and processing speed are boosted, giving him the ability to analyze any situation and react in a split-second, making it seem like he's predicting the future.
Rapido, standing beside Aero Raid and Windbreaker, was among a crowd of unhappy Autobots who made Prowl look really stupid when the latter tried to make a speech. Skyfire (issue)
Rapido was created in one of Earth's Cyberfactories as part of a new generation; specifically, he was "born" in Madrid, Spain. He spent some time in international racing before a new Decepticon threat called him to combat duty. http://www.botcon.com/BotCon10/images10/RAPIDO10english.jpg

During a battle outside of the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland, Rapido ordered a fall back after Pyro was captured. Minutes later, when Scorch and Streetwise tried to take over, Rapido balked at being treated like a child, despite only being a minor in Earth years. When Scorch objected to his formulating a rescue plan, Rapido reminded him that he technically outranked all Autobots on Earth in emergency situation, as authorized by Optimus Prime himself.

Eventually the Autobots went on the counterattack to stop the Decepticons from seizing the power of the Collider and to save Pyro. While most the Autobots kept the Decepticons busy, Rapido took Meanstreak and Streetwise to the back entrance. While his low-yield photo missiles were unable to crack the door, Streetwise's knock caused it to tumble. Once inside they met with a duo of Sharkticon guards and attempted to use the universal greeting to quell them. When this proved fruitless, Rapido transformed and crashed the guards through the door they were guarding, right into the room where Pyro was being held!

The rescue team began getting pummeled by the Forestonite-infused Decepticons. Rapido shot his missiles to free Pyro, evening the odds a little. When Breakdown saw this, he shot the rest of the Forestonite, resulting in its gaseous form filling the building and powering up all the Transformers within. Rapido found he now had the power of super speed, and used it to outrun Sky-Byte's missiles, leading them into the main skirmish and having them hit Cindersaur instead. When the Decepticons retreated, Rapido attended to the humans and later enjoyed a drink of energon. Generation 2: Redux

He, Pyro and Sizzle were briefed by Ultra Magnus on a break-in at Quantum Laboratories, and given the task of finding whoever was responsible. A Flash Forward, Part 2

A young Autobot created on Earth, "Racemaster" was trained by a previous Autobot commander while stationed in Spain. He was assigned a set of specialized Drones as part of the Power Core Combiners program, and sent on a transport mission, where he began to chafe under having to maintain the highway speed limit. He began to wonder what had happened to the missing Choppermaster, and quickly realized that if the Decepticons had gotten their hands on his comrade's Drones, odds were he was the next target.

His flash of insight saved him from a hail of missiles launched by Combatmaster, who had set up the purloined Drones along the road in an ambush. Combatmaster demanded the surrender of the Autobot Drones, but a sudden burst of super-speed from both Racemaster and his convoy had them quickly and safely beyond the Decepticon's range. Weapons of a New Generation

:He was initially released in the European market in 1993, during the transitional time when the Transformers toys took on the new Generation 2 sigils, but the packaging lacked the "Generation 2" line-name.
To be redecoed in black with blue robot parts, he was to come with the "Gasoline Station Set", a building-block gas pump that could be rebuilt into a battle station of some form. This set ultimately never came to release. In 2005, a supposed Takara "release" schedule listed the Block Town sets among several other future items coming out. Only the Galaxy Force items on that list saw release, however (and some only as store exclusives to boot).

*"Rapido" means "rapid" or "fast" in Spanish, Italian and Portuguese..
*Like all of the toys carried over from the European line for Generation 2, Rapido got entirely new artwork for his US release (shown at the top of this article). His original artwork was considerably less scary than that of his fellow Axelerators.
*Regarding him outranking "everybody"... that's a slight exaggeration, but not by much. In the 1993 US line, only Rapido and Grimlock had a "10" Rank in their Tech Specs; the Optimus Prime toy released that year had a mere "9". Speedstream also had a 10, but as he was never released in the US, few fans knew about it back then and thus the Aquaspeeder leader got to miss out on the joke.
*Though Rapido was never released in Japan, he did gain a Japanese name via a Japan 1997 exclusive poster, which featured bios for all of the new Generation 2 characters released in the US who weren't part of the Japanese line: the Axelerators, the Skyscorchers, Rotor Force, four of the Go-Bots and the Color Changers.
*For BotCon 2010, his character was based somewhat on "The Most Interesting Man in the World" from the Dos Equis beer commercials. His bio card from the convention was written entirely in Spanish, because this was an awesome thing to do. After the convention, Fun Publications put up an English version. His dialogue throughout Redux is peppered with European-Spanish words and phrases, a trait carried over into his United EX incarnation.
*The names of the Drones for his United EX incarnation are all European-language words meaning "fast".
Then why keep the "stealing parts" bit?
There's nothing officially released that declares he "steals parts". Just because he can use Ratchet's weapon does not directly indicate that he "steals parts" for all we know he could've bought it off the Autobot medic regardless of absurdity. So if you're going to take off any potential mentions of his profession (which is what he's initially referenced from) then why allow something else that is unofficially recognized? This is a paragon example of abuse of power. --The Beerclaw 02:50, 6 January 2010 (EST)
:Because the Hasbro reps at Botcon said that the gun the new Ratchet will come with can be attached to Lockdown, hence he steals parts, because I doubt Ratchet would just give it to him willingly. --Detour 02:52, 6 January 2010 (EST)
:But did they say he "steals parts" or any other directly similar statement? Or is this something else that's been placed onto this wiki because it's assumed due to this character's previous incarnation? If so, then it'd be safe to "assume" he's a bounty hunter, also due to this character's previous incarnation, especially if he's noted to be an homage. --The Beerclaw 02:57, 6 January 2010 (EST)

Bounty hunter or not?
To most who visit this page, we are already familiar with the previous incarnation of this character's profession as a "Bounty Hunter". If you've read the previous discussion/"argument" (of sorts) with Detour, then you'll understand where I stand on the subject, if not, then please read the following.

It's argued that information "leaked" should not be entered into a wiki, though most arguably fair-enough assumptions are accepted; including, concerning this character, that he "steals parts", due to him being able to connect and use Ratchet's EMP weapon (a very specific characteristic to the previous incarnation). The characteristic of stealing parts is an attribute that is well-documented on the Animated incarnation of the character (again, more specifically the case with Ratchet's EMP weapon), as is another well-documented attribute being his profession as a "bounty hunter".

This character has been noted as an "homage" to the previous version, which even extended to an alternate form extremely similar to the previous version, a "hook" weapon (commonly found in the character's right hand), and to include him as an enemy to this continuity's version of Arcee and Ratchet (officially declared on Hasbro's TF site). Given all the various information both official and safely assumed, is it not then also safe to assume his profession would also carry over strongly intact enough to be placed in this article?

And yes, I care this much because I've had a passion for bounty hunting since I was a young child, so nearly anything "bounty hunting" related, I take seriously. --Karhukjnsi 03:48, 6 January 2010 (EST)
:Occam's Razor suggests that Lockdown will be portrayed exactly like his Animated counterpart, given the large number of ROTF characters whose personalities are based on their G1 forebears (Blazemaster, Nightbeat, etc). His Speed Stars toy has been in the upcoming toy category since 2011. There's no longer a Speed Stars line in the stores, that's done. Could we change his one toy from 'upcoming' to 'cancelled', as it seems it has been? It's been 2 to 2.5 years now since it was supposed to be out, and nothing. At some point, Bakudora, Budora, Gaidora, and Judora entered stasis underground near Mount Fuji where the Evil Oni Emperor Predaking was buried. After a boy unknowingly unearthed Predaking's head, the Emperor summoned his four servants to awaken from their sleep. Budora and Gaidora set out to find the red Legendisc. Finding it in the ownership of Isami Tatewaki's grandfather, they attacked and threatened the safety of bystanders till Isami handed over the Legendisc. Fortunately, the Legendisc summoned the Swordbot Samurai Team in response to Isami's desperation. When the Swordbots had a conference with Autobot Commander Optimus Prime, Budora sent a robot drone in the shape of a butterfly to spy on the meeting. Through this, Budora found that Legendiscs in the past and the present could connect, enabling time travel. With Bakudora in tow, Budora used the blue Legendisc in Predaking to travel to the Sengoku period. There, they found the green Laserdisc in the possession of Musashi Miyamoto and stole it, earning the swordsman's enmity. With the power of the green Legendisc, Budora claimed to seek to rule the past, but brushed it off a joke when Bakudora pointed out this would betray Predaking. They were soon found by the Samurai Team, who came from the future to stop their interference with the natural path of history. Despite more Jaki troops, Budora and Bakudora's threat in the past was ended through the efforts of the Samurai Team, Isami, and Musashi. Pursue! The Legendiscs!
::::I'm not sure it works like that. I mean, I'm not sure an ursagryph is a form of Cybertonian wildlife, or even a species of their own. That implies there were thousands of ursagryphs running around Cybertron at some point. That may be, or it may not be. It could be that an ursagryph is a species of Predacon like Triceratops is a species of dinosaur, or it could be that the species is "Predacon" and they just have a wide variety of forms, including a few ursagryphs. I tend to think it is the latter, since that is how Transformers tend to work. Transformers themselves are kind of a species and they have a wide variety of forms. ::::::"In-fiction" would mean that, despite Roulette being designed after Sakuyamon, Sakuyamon does not exist within the Transformers universe.
:::::::There is a little bit of buzz around the term "ursagryph" because of the toys. People will probably be googling it. That might be enough reason to have a page. Sure, Air Hammer is a "hammerhead hawk", but he is a Fuzor fusion of two random real-world animals. Air Hammer was not inspired by a pre-existing mythological creature. :::::::::As part of the Fuzor's backstory, their beast modes are a fusion of to random animals due to a glitch in the formatting system. Grimwing is one creature—an ursagryph. An ursagryph is a pre-established thing. - Starfield 14:06, 13 August 2013 (EDT)
I think this page should exist only because it would be the only thing on the Internet that's About Ursagryphs, rather than a handful of offhanded mentions within posts about Grimwing and a furry RPG, and that is funny to me. --ItsWalky 12:49, 13 August 2013 (EDT)
I don't see personally, how the Fuzor argument enters into it. A Fuzor is just a mix of two different real world animal species. There's no "hammerhead hawk" species, a Fuzor is a hammerhead species plus a hawk species jumbled together. An Ursagyph is not a Fuzor version of a Bear+Griffon/Gryphon, it's a Gryphon like entity with ursine characterisitcs to it. I still think also this should remain in the 'Cybertronic wildlife' category - all of Prime's Predacons are stated as being ancient CYBERTRONIAN anima life. Grimwing, Darksteel and Budora aren't taking the form of an Earth being, if both the IDW comics and TV show state the in-fiction truth: Shockwave's rebirthing them as clones, not making Predacons up to design specs of his own. It's a resurrection of the species, of a species upon ancient Cybertron, not a Beast Wars style disguise mode. Besides, it'd be one of the few Cybertronic species that's not named silly. Transfotaku 18:59, 13 August 2013 (EDT)
