This is the page for the TFWiki.net Transformers Hall of Fame Auditions entries. The rules are as follows:

#You must pick your top five Transformers characters, from any era. They must actually be Transformers; sorry, but no humans, non-Transformer aliens, non-Transformer robots, or anything else of the sort are being considered for the Hall of Fame. Any votes for such entities will not be tabulated. It is the sole discretion of the contest organizers to decide what does and does not count.
#Take your top five list and put it in alphabetical order. Order of preference does not matter. Feel free to denote the character's franchise of origin, although these distinctions may or may not figure into the final results.
#You cannot vote for a specific version of Bumblebee, Dinobot, Grimlock, Ironhide, Jazz, Megatron, Optimus Prime, Ratchet, Shockwave, Soundwave, Starscream, Waspinator, or Wheeljack. They've already been inducted!

Hoooooo doggies, does this need work. I'd argue with both the contention that the GB cartoon was "more kiddy", AND the contention that the toys were "simpler". I think the information in X-Bob's edit is more fiction-based than metafictional-based, which is largely what that section is about. It would probably belong on the G1 GoBots page, if anywhere. --Monzo 03:37, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

I don't really see why so much of this article was removed. I think the sections that were here called Pre-GoBots, International, and Cartoon were all appropriate and belong in the article. The fiction ties between TF and GoBots are minimal, but from a real-world historical perspective, I think that the history and nature of the GoBots brand is quite relevant to Transformers history. TFU.info and M Sipher's TF variations list both have extensive GoBots coverage, and I don't recall anybody saying those were inappropriate for TF resources to include. I am not suggesting that turn this into a "Transformers and GoBots" wiki or anything. I just think that, well, the name "Machine Men" and the fact that GoBots had a cartoon series should really be in this article. --Steve-o 21:08, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
:Personally, I'm fine with this article being fairly extensive, so long as we don't start seeing lots of purely GoBots-related articles showing up on the rest of the Wiki. (No GoBots character lists, or episode pages for the GoBots cartoon, for example).--G.B. Blackrock 21:14, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Depth...
I was just wondering would any more work be wanted on this thing? I'm tempted to add in a bit, but would probably let my Gobot love take over - for example, is the UK comic strip worth a mention? Or the Robo Machines European reissue line?

Also, should I add a fairly NPOV piece on the reasons why TF won in the end (i.e. much better marketing)?

Incidentally, it's nice to find there are quite a few TF fans who, like me, aren't either/or on the Gobot thing... "My transforming robot line is AWESOME, the others are all ghey" has always seemed a bit schoolyard to me :)
Cyborgs....
This was actually posted over at Crasher's talk page but since it applies to all GoBot-related articles, I'm reposting it here. After someone contested the fact that GoBots were actually cyborgs and not robots, it got my curiosity going, so I brought this up to a friend of mine who's a bit of a GB aficionado. He put together a list of scenes and facts supporting the fact that GoBots are every bit as 100% robotic as Transformers are. Submitted for everyone:

:For an origin story, the lack of time reference is curious. Why would they call themselves GoBots before moving in that direction? Actually, accoring to The GoBotron Saga Part 3. the original inhabitants of GoBotron were called GoBings.

What does a time reference have to do with anything? It seems like a random complaint to discredit the minicomic - we have no idea what the life-cycle of the organics of Gobotron was.

Now, it's clearly possible that the continuity of the cartoon and the minicomic don't line up (that happened often enough in Transformers), but the minicomic states that the GoBots were cybernetic beings in at least one continuity, so there's no arguing that point. Whether the cartoon strictly adhered to this or not is another matter. (I also think the original inhabitants of Gobotron were called Gobanes and not Gobings, but that may be an accent issue.)

:Last Engineer: "Because of the catastrophe, our race is nearing extinction. I am among the last and must do something."
:Scooter: "The Last Enigeer saved us by inventing the GoBot form."
::I don't see anything that disproves non-cyborg alternatives.

I... have no idea what this means? That particular combination of lines suggests to me that The Last Engineer saved the remaining Gobanes/Gobings by inventing the GoBot form and then doing something to make the Gobanes into the GoBots, whether through cybernetic conversion or mind-transfer or something. As the cyborg idea existed concurrently in the fiction of the time, it seems more logical to go with that pre-existing option, especially in light of some of the Last Engineer's comments.

:Last Engineer: "Part robot? Heh heh heh. Survival, my dear. As parts wore out, I replaced them."
::OK, so the Last Engineer is a technically cyborg. This is world's different from ALL GoBots being cyborgs. It's implicit that the Last Engineer did this to himself over time, whereas the inhabitants of GoBotron had a much more immediate need.

Yes, but the needs of The Last Engineer do not necessarily equal the needs of the Gobanes themselves. The Last Engineer did not adopt a GoBot form, so replaced his parts over time, is how I took it... and add to this the fact that the Last Engineer said that he was "more human than GoBot" in Quest For New Earth, heavily implying that the final result of his own cyberneticization would be a GoBot body.

(Technically a cyborg? He's missing both arms, a leg, and at least a quarter of his head.)

I've read on the Counter-X GoBot site that Zeemon was evidently the first to receive his GoBot form from the Last Engineer. Now, this does not happen in any of the episodes I have watched, but there ARE a good 15-16 that are not online in any form, so I can't discount that the fact was revealed in one of those. If the Last Engineer developed the GoBot form, and said he was more human than GoBot while being an obvious cyborg, well... no, it's not out-and-out stated, but it's not that big of a leap, either.

::How does a human brain survive being diconnected from a cyborg body and being shot that close to the sun?
While valid points on one level, I assume "the same reason acid rain hurt the Autobots but not Chip Chase".

It would take a while to address these other points, but on the whole I see them as intentionally skewering the facts towards your position. It's clear that the marketing failed to properly convey the cyborg idea, but I don't see what other conclusion can be easily drawn from the existing facts, especially in light of the minicomic and the Last Engineer's background.

Whatever the intention of the original series was, granted, what will probably be more relevant to GoBots-within-Transformers will be the direction Withered Hope takes... on the other hand, if ending the arguement is as simple as changing "are" to "may be", I wouldn't have a problem with that. --Monzo 06:27, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
I wonder how well a quote from Hanna Barbera's series bible might've fared against the esteemed interns at Golden Books.
:::The other issue here is that I proposed little more than changing "are" to "may be" because nobody acknowleged different conclusions or what iteration of Crasher they were talking about and was just brushed off.--68.82.87.66 00:36, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

While I cannot rule out that I'm misremembering, wasn't there a Challenge of the GoBots episode that explicitly stated (and if I remember correctly showed via a cutaway) that the current GoBots had organic brains? It was one of the things that stuck out for me, but I haven't really been interested or researched much on GoBots since I was a kid.--RosicrucianTalk 00:47, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

::See also: Turbo's-brain-somehow-didn't-freeze-on-the-dark-side-of-the-moon.

Everybody likes Hubcap. He's friendly, always has a clever joke or compliment ready, and is generally a nice, fun, affable bot to be around. On the other hand nobody actually trusts Hubcap. It's not his devotion to the Autobot cause that's the concern (mostly), but his ulterior motives for his friendship and jokes and the like. He is at his core a con artist, and everyone's a bit on their guard around him. Some think he's this way to cover for deficiencies or to stay in a postion well above his actual aptitude level... or maybe he just likes tricking people. He doesn't seem to have made many enemies with his tricks and scams, though; quite the opposite. So perhaps it is all mostly harmless.

No-one doubts that he's got very good audio receptors, though, capable of picking up incredibly weak signals, which is why he's part of the Autobot communications hub. One can only guess as to what he might do with all he hears in that position, though.
: Released in the third year of the Generation 1 line in the US (second year in Japan), Hubcap is a retooling of the Cliffjumper "penny-racer"-proportioned Porsche 924 Turbo sports car mold, giving him a new robot-mode head and no "spoiler". He is sometimes mistaken for the variant yellow Cliffjumper, and even occasionally for Bumper, who has a similiar transformation, but an entirely different mold for his car parts and robot head.

: In 1986, he was made available as a mail-away item (incorrectly labeled as Cliffjumper) in the Digital Doom on the Highway to Destruction and The Autobots Are Under Attack! fliers packed with most boxed Transformers toys. :Hubcap was re-released as part of the first batch of Generation 2 toys in the US, this time in shiny chrome red. There's speculation that this was because Hasbro had intended to release Cliffjumper instead but didn't have the mold, but it seems more likely it was simply to keep him from looking too much like his assortment partner Bumblebee.

Bug Bite is a brilliant yet amoral scientist, specializing in co-opting and adapting others' technology and advancements for his own use. He originally belonged to another dimension, specifically a robotic world which was, similarly to Cybertron, consumed by an endless civil war. This war was stopped only when the fate of not only their planet but their entire universe was threatened by an extradimensional influence.

Under the strict supervision of the Guardian Treds, Bug Bite was enlisted to an allied team and sent into the dimension which threatened their own. Bug Bite took a new body and infiltrated the ranks of the Decepticons, hoping not only to discover the source of his home universe's plight, but take calculated revenge.

Timelines: Games of Deception
Bug Bite appeared on Cybertron shortly before the Autobots and Decepticons crashlanded on Earth 4 million years ago. He eventually fit in with Bludgeon's troops, quickly becoming favored. (Bug Bite had also reverse-engineered a mind-control device using cerebro-shell technology. Let's just say the other Decepticons suddenly liked him very much.)

Bug Bite discovered that Megatron was somehow responsible for the death of his universe, so he rounded up his amazingly loyal troops and landed on Earth. He requested an audience with Megatron through Starscream and his Seekers, but this meeting was merely a ploy by Bug Bite to snare these Decepticons with cerebro-shells.

Subsequently, Bug Bite marched straight into Megatron's stronghold, the Ark, under the pretense of striking a deal. Almost immediately, Bug Bite switched on the other Decepticons' mind control, and Megatron found himself surrounded by weapons pointed in his direction. Unfortunately, rogue Autobots led by Ultra Magnus were waiting outside and jammed the cerebro-shells' signal, though with mixed results. Bug Bite was apparently killed during the following battle after Megatron blew off his head. Games of Deception

Shattered Expectations
The heroic Bug Bite, flying with the aid of his Tidal Wave drone, and the rest of the Mayhem Suppression Squad assisted Starscream and Razorclaw against a trio of marauding Autobots. Shattered Expectations
Bug Bite had a single appearance on the GoBots 'toon, and I have an okay summary of it. But... uh, where would it go, if at all? A GoBots Cartoon subheader? Or are we not getting into that kinda thing? --Monzo 00:05, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
: While an episode summary is not a good idea, a Trivia note on Bug Bite's role in the old GoBots cartoon (and its coincidental similarity to how he turned out in GoD) is certainly fine.
I would not be remotely shocked to see it officially parsed as both two words and one (wonder what the packaging says), but if we have both and the ORIGINAL ORIGINAL is two words, I'd go with two. --M Sipher 06:23, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
::::I assume you're asking about why this article was at Bugbite, one word? Well, it started out as two words, but the BotCon website announcement of the exclusive has it as a single word, so the article was moved to match that. (If you're actually asking why the BotCon website has it as a single word when the comic parses it as two, then yeah, probably an oversight.) --KilMichaelMcC 13:34, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
Number of Timelines Bug Bite toys made
The Wiki entry says 1500. I assume that this comes from the number 1100 (as indicated on the "certificate of authenticity" regarding the box sets) and 400 (the number of loose sets we were told were made). Yet, the number on the certificate (1100) is at variance with both an e-mail sent by Brian Savage on May 4 (which also confirmed the number of loose sets at 400) and the notice put up at www.botcon.com on that same date, both of which said 1050 box sets were made. Naturally, this would make the total number of toys 1450. I'm inclined to believe that the certificate is in error, but if anyone has more solid information, I'd certainly welcome it.--[[User:G.B. Blackrock|G.B. ::I certainly don't pretend to know how many are "Primus" (attendee) sets and how many are "Iacon" (non-attendee) sets, but since they're physically the same, I'm not sure it matters. There were 1050 (or 1100, depending on which source is to be believed) box sets. That's "Primus" and "Iacon" together. The 400 loose sets were available to either one, equally. "Primus" buyers weren't given preference over "Iacon" buyers on loose sets.--[[User:G.B. ==Date of Bug Bite's Appearance==
Does Bug Bite's exposition or specs (I can't find my comic or his spec card) state specifically that he arrived in the TF universe shortly before the first Ark crash? If not, there were a total of three major crashes on Earth: The One 4 million years ago, the one in issue #78, and the one in G2. Since He crops up in the Classics universe that rules out the G2 crash, but wouldn't it seem a little more likely that Bug Bite showed up in 1991 rather than in 4 million BC? Assuming, of course, the timeframes of the two universes are aligned with each other.

Since the Gobots universe isn't imploding during the course of its cartoon run we can only assume that the doom of that unvierse occured after the end of its fictional run, which would appear to be around 1986.

Also, Pete Sinclair told me that it was the second crash they were referring to, so that's got author intent. I don't know how applicable a one-on-one correspondence is in that regard. --Trent<div id="wikia-credits"><br /><br /><small>From Teletraan I: The Transformers Wiki, a Wikia wiki.</small></div>
