'''Blades''' will never be the Autobot poster child. He's a dirty, underhanded street brawler at heart and proud of it. The fact that his [[alternate mode]] and function as air support can keep him at a distance from combat infuriates him. Blades would rather use his rotors to gut a Decepticon from antenna to tailpipe than to fly. When he fights, he wants to feel his enemies' fuel spraying across his steel skin. Blades does his job and does it darn well, but if there's a way to get his hands dirty in the process, you can bet your processor he'll find it.

When the [[Insecticon (G1)|Insecticons]] attacked an inhabited city on [[Earth]], [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] called upon the Protectobots to evacuate the civilians caught in the crossfire. Later, as Earth's orbit was diverted to the [[Sun]] by the [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticons]], while [[Inferno (G1)|Inferno]] and [[Red Alert (G1)|Red Alert]] fought the flames, Blades saved civilians trapped by the fires. Soon afterwards he was spraying his limited supply of coolant onto the flames, but was concerned that he was running out and couldn't cool down the whole planet. {{storylink|The Revenge of Bruticus}}

Blades, as part of Defensor, totally blew up [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]]. Afterwards, he was with the Protectobots when they arrived ostensibly to save some window-washers from a burning skyscraper. Blades actually blew the workers from their dangling platform. Fortunately, Streetwise managed to catch them below. Later still, Blades and the other Protectobots were ordered to help defend [[Ark (G1)|Autobot Headquarters]] from a Decepticon attack. They merged into Defensor and activated his useless force field, which almost immediately deactivated, allowing the Decepticons to blast Defensor back into his component parts. {{storylink|B.O.T. In the year [[2006]], Blades was present (occasionally) during the battle on [[Eurythma]]. {{storylink|Carnage in C-Minor}}

The Autobots were asked to help the Dutch authorities deal with French rebels. After dispersing the human aggressors, Blades was shot down by [[Galvatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Galvatron]]. [[First Aid (G1)|First Aid]] took him back to [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]] for repairs. While Blades recuperated, the Combaticon [[Swindle (G1)|Swindle]] broke into the city and managed to steal Metroplex's [[Transformation cog (biology)|transformation cog]], and First Aid left the Autobots when he failed to stop the theft. Unfortunately, just as First Aid left, the Autobots were called upon to deal with a rampaging [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]]. Hot Spot ordered the remaining Protectobots to combine into Defensor even without First Aid, and they successfully saved a train full of civilians. After First Aid returned to the Autobots, Blades ferried him into Metroplex while the giant Autobot was battling Trypticon, enabling the medic to realign the replacement cog properly, which in turn allowed Metroplex to triumph. {{storylink|The Ultimate Weapon}}

Blades was one of the first three (along with [[Wheelie (G1)|Wheelie]] and [[Slingshot (G1)|Slingshot]]) to be drained by the energy leech, [[Tornedron]]. Later in 2006, the Protectobots arrived at the aftermath of the battle between the [[Technobot (G1)|Technobots]] and [[Terrorcon (G1)|Terrorcons]] at [[Mark Morgan]]'s laboratory. They transported the injured [[Jessica Morgan]] to County General Hospital and watched over her as the doctors restored her ability to walk with an exo-skeletal structure, enraging the robo-phobic senior Morgan. This had [[Hate Plague|negative consequences]]. What a jerkface.

Blades and the Protectobots were dispatched to [[Peru]] with the [[Trainbot]]s when a volcano erupted, leaving a mountainside village in dire peril. Their rescue mission was blocked by the [[Predacon (G1)|Predacons]]. [[Shouki]] and the Trainbots occupied the fiends so that the Protectobots could proceed on to the village and protect the innocent lives. Nevertheless, the Protectobots failed to reach the village, as they were intercepted by the Decepticons' second wave, the [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmaster]]s. Blades and the Protectobots briefly struggled with the Headmasters before forming Defensor, but that left them grouped together and vulnerable to an underhanded attack. Blades and the Protectobots were part of a strike team that flew to the [[Moon (moon)|moon]] to disrupt Scorponok's gathering of Decepticons. They immediately formed Defensor upon entering the battle. {{storylink|Return of the Immortal Emperor}} When the planet [[Sandra (planet)|Sandra]] sent out a distress call asking for energy, the Autobots of Earth responded. While they were loading the Trainbots full of supplies, however, Galvatron and the Decepticons arrived to take the energy for themselves. After the death of Ultra Magnus, the Autobots were desperately trying to pick up the slack during Sixshot's campaign of destruction around the globe. Blades and the Protectobots assembled as Defensor to go out and confront Sixshot at one of the attack sites, but they apparently didn't fare too well. {{storylink|The Emperor of Destruction Vanishes on an Iceberg}} When the Decepticons seemingly abandoned Earth, Blades and the Protectobots assisted Spike in rebuilding the planet after the enemy's departure. On one occasion, they located Sixshot's old command base. Following a lengthy period of inactivity, the Decepticons renewed their attacks on Earth. With Fortress still off in space, Spike Witwicky dispatched Blades and the Protectobots to attend to the threats. When the [[Stunticon (G1)|Stunticons]] formed [[Menasor (G1)|Menasor]] to attack a baseball stadium, the Autobots' human friend [[Kenji]] called in the Aerialbots and Protectobots in response. Blades and the Protectobots put out the fires caused by the Decepticon mayhem before combining into Defensor. Their central component was injured battling Bruticus, however, forcing the Protectobots to disengage while Hot Spot tended to his injuries. Thinking quickly, Kenji told Superion to aim for the legs, and the giant Autobot shot out the leg components of both Bruticus and Menasor. Blades and the smaller Protectobots then leapt into action, linking up with the Decepticon combiners in place of their normal limbs. Many years later, [[Galvatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Galvatron]] and the Decepticons kidnapped Doctor [[Dalton]] of the planet [[Eran]] to increase the potency of their combiner robots. The Protectobots and Aerialbots attempted to storm [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]] in order to recover the kidnapped scientist, but were repelled by Scramble City base modes with launcher power. Superion in particular suffered critical injuries. Reconsidering their tactics, Hot Spot transformed to repair bay mode in order to bring the Aerialbots back on-line, while Blades infiltrated Trypticon alone to recover Dalton and the other Protectobots held off Menasor and Bruticus long enough for their teammates to complete their missions. Inside Trypticon, Blades was able to retrieve Dalton with little fuss, as most of the Decepticons were distracted watching the fight. The Protectobots once lived on the colony world of [[Archon]], but as the colony slowly began to fail they succumbed to [[stasis lock]]. They remained that way until [[Omega Supreme (G1)|Omega Supreme]] chanced across the ruins of the planet and brought them back to Earth. The only way to revive them was through an [[energon]] infusion; the [[Aerialbot (G1)|Aerialbot]]s volunteered for the process. The Protectobots made a complete recovery and then some: the transfusion had given them the ability to combine! Reversing the signal, the Autobots learned of a Decepticon plot to steal the energy-converting hydrothermocline. At the industrial site, a human named [[Ethan Zachary]] broke a stand-off between the two forces by suggesting they battle for the hydrothermocline in a virtual game program, so that nothing of value to either side would be damaged in the melee. With their consent, Zachary uploaded Optimus, Megatron, and the two Special Teams into the computer game environment called "[[Multi-World]]," though Megatron insisted that each faction leader wager their lives on the outcome of the game. Blades was teamed with [[Groove (G1)|Groove]], and they maneuvered through an area called the Cloud-Steppes, where cities floated on clouds and absurdly long walkways were supported underneath them. The Combaticon flyers cut loose one of the walkways, sending the ground-bound Groove and a group of Cloud-Steppers flailing and falling. Against his better judgement, Blades caught the falling humanoids instead of saving his teammate. This proved to be a good idea, as the Cloud-Steppers unleashed their patented cloud-in-a-knapsack trick to blind the Combaticons until Groove shot them down. While on a mission in [[London]], tracking a signal that could be the deserters, his bad mood was made worse by being attacked by [[Action Force (team)|Action Force]], and he came close to killing the humans before realizing this was against the Autobot code. He then ended up assisting Action Force, Grimlock, and [[Centurion (Marvel)|Centurion]] against a rampaging Megatron, the real source of the signal. If not for Blades, [[Wild Bill]] would have died in a [[Dragonfly]] crash during the fight! The rescue helped the Autobots and the humans work in tandem, as it made clear to both teams that they were fighting for the same side. Despite their alliance, Megatron seemed invulnerable, shrugging off every attack that came his way. It was determined that the only chance to obliterate their foe was to detonate several nearby gas tanks with an air strike, though the only thing keeping Megatron in position was Grimlock. Wishing to redeem himself for an earlier failure, Centurion had Blades drop him atop of the Decepticon while Grimlock was pulled out. As part of the Protectobots, Blades was sent out ''again'' by Grimlock to track down the "traitorous" Blaster and Goldbug. ''This time,'' they managed to track them down to [[Big Steve Ludwig (G1)|Big Steve]]'s used car dealership, the two deserters having joined forces with the [[Throttlebot]]s during their absence. Big Steve had already disabled the Autobots under his care by pouring soda into their gas tanks, leaving all but Blaster unable to defend themselves. But other parties were on the deserters' trail; a four-way skirmish developed between Blaster, the Protectobots, the Combaticons, and the human-led robot hunters, [[Rapid Anti-robot Assault Team|RAAT]]. In the end, Blades and his crew only managed to capture Blaster. {{storylink|Used Autobots}} The Protectobots clashed once more against the Combaticons en route to the Ark, this time meeting them in a sprawling trainyard. Blades, disregarding Hotspot's orders, gunned immediately for Vortex, but found himself having trouble getting a bead on his opponent thanks to the latter's superior aerial agility. Once the Combaticons merged into Bruticus, the Protectobots matched their strategy and became Defensor. This still wasn't enough to best the evil robots, and the Protectobots soon found themselves at the enemy's mercy. They were saved by Blaster, who had gotten his [[mode lock]] by some errant children, and managed to bring down an electrical tower atop of Bruticus, knocking him out. Blaster made his way back to the Ark in time. Some years later, Blades was working with a team of Autobots known as the [[Firestormer]]s when they first discovered the [[Cybertronian (faction)|Cybertronians]].

During [[Nexus Seven|one of their raids]], [[Hound (G1)|Hound]] hesitated to shoot a [[Outpost B-67 exo-structuring party|Cybertronian]] who said he was weaponless. Blades blasted the Cybertronian, who was in fact reaching for a weapon, and berated Hound for being "soft". {{storylink|War Without End!}} Then, under the influence of [[Shadow parasite|mind parasites]], he tore a Cybertronian's cable out with his [[Andrew Wildman|teeth]] on an unnamed planet in the [[K'tord Nebula]]. This translates to "We will always bring [them] back".

:He features numerous [[gimmick]]s: His rotor blades spin using a geared push-button, and become a spinning-blade weapon mounted on his [[robot mode]]'s left arm. He has an adjustable [[Retractable string gimmick|tow-hook on a string]], which retracts with the push of a button: this gimmick ends up on his right robot mode arm. Inserting a [[Cyber Key]] into his back end (backpack in robot mode) swings around a pair of spring-loaded [[missile]] launchers that double as the helicopter's engine exhausts when not deployed (or loaded with missiles). Finally, his hands are compatible with [[5 mm post]]s. He comes with a clear Cybertron-style Cyber Key with silver paint and a red Autobot symbol, which doesn't match his [[packaging]] [[stock photography]].

:[[Joe Kyde]] originally did a deco sheet (based on a real Coast Guard color scheme for the Dauphin) for an Evac redeco in the 2007 movie toyline. He does have wheels in his feet like his character model, but the toy's feet have been designed in such a way that it can stand alone. :Like all [[Human Alliance]] figures, Sideswipe is designed to allow his accompanying human figure, in this case [[Robert Epps]], to ride inside.

:While in many ways simply a larger version of the Deluxe toy, it has several changes. The wheeled feet may now fold out into a stand system, allowing Sideswipe to stand without having to balance on the wheels, or be left as is to retain a more rounded look, and his blades are now rubberized to prevent injury and damage, as the blades lay flat underneath in vehicle mode. The sword-hands can also be slotted into a gear system connected to the front wheels, which causes them to spin as the wheels are turned. The passenger's seat may either be used as a seat for Epps, or turned into a missile launcher slung over Sideswipe's left shoulder.

:Like the Deluxe figure, the HA Sideswipe is something of a [[shellformer]] and suffers from an excessive amount of [[kibble]], as nearly the entire top of the vehicle mode is folded up into a backpack, with only the rear bumper being incorporated as Sideswipe's chest. Partly as the reason, it is also quite hard for him to be able to stand up, as his thigh joints are tight and the rubber tubing on his thighs can get quite tense during posing, constantly wanting to reset his torso to tilt back up and as well as wanting his legs to be straight, thus overbalancing him and making him fall on his backpack.

:A great deal goes unmentioned in the instructions: in addition to the seats behind Sideswipe's shoulders, there are pegs on both forearms that a Human Alliance human figure can stand on or have plugged into their back, but neither are accomplished very well; the pegs also interfere with free rolling in vehicle mode, scraping on the ground. There is a fold-out handle under the swiveling rear window section, which seems to serve no purpose; it's possible to fold this section over Sideswipe's head (and, by extension, any human figure sitting behind his right shoulder), but the handle is only reached if the human figure has its left arm raised straight up and the seat is in just the right position. There are also small tabs that fold out of Sideswipe's waist to make him more movie-accurate. The small turret on his right shoulder can be slid upwards slightly, allowing it to clear the shoulder much better. Sideswipe also has an extra hinge near either thigh swivel that is completely hindered by the rubber tubing on his legs. Finally, Sideswipe has a battle mask; or rather, his normal head '''is''' his battle mask. A thin sliver in the middle of his face flips back to reveal his "real" face. It looks... odd. It's probably best to leave the thing down and never speak of this feature.

Sideswipe now has toe and heel spurs so that he can balance on a flat surface without falling over, a problem that the previous versions of the character suffered. The Japanese [[TakaraTomy]] release of Sidearm Sideswipe drops red flame details in favor of keeping the silver paint on his wheels, which Hasbro dropped due to budgetary reasons. This release also changed the windows from red to a dark purple, for a more screen accurate appearance.

:His head's [[light-piping]] is sculpted out of the same red plastic as his windows, but his eyes are painted blue. Oddly, Hasbro's stock photos show him with only one eye painted.

:In an undocumented feature, his ankles can be rotated around in robot mode in order for them to look much more accurate to his CG model. Neither the instructions nor any official photography (nor either of the pictures on the right) reflects this step in his transformation.

:Sidearm Sideswipe seems to have undergone a last-second mold alteration; closing off the tops of the hip balljoint sockets, severely limiting his outward leg motion. There is a perfect outline where the change was made to the molding. This change was likely made to reduce stress on the rubber tubing connected to his thighs.

:Underneath the front hood (which ends up on his back) is some sculpted, unpainted faux-[[kibble]] in the form of four circles in a row, which are meant to represent the four exhaust pipes on the back of the vehicle, which usually end up on his back in robot mode. :Sideswipe's MechTech weapon, a large blaster, can convert to a runed Cybertanium sword with the press of a button. The weapon can be stored in any of the three MechTech ports in either mode, all of which include the spring-loaded filler piece to hide them when not in use. In this mode, he sits so low that it's difficult to roll him without scraping his undercarriage, unless you perform some careful shaping after transforming him. Sideswipe's [[Mech Alive]] gimmick is in his knees—bending his legs causes the blue armor plates on his knees to extend. He does have wheels in his feet like his character model, but the toy's feet have been designed in such a way that it can stand alone. Rounding out his robot mode awesomeness, his hips have an "invisible joint" and moving pistons, while his "blades" are geared to spin out in unison. He is ''totally awesome''.

:Sideswipe's instructions aren't clear as to how his torso is supposed to connect with his chest in robot mode. The torso piece has a square peg on top of it and there is a corresponding square hole between the two screws holding the front of his chest together. Getting his torso section in front of his arm struts can be a somewhat snug fit.

:Like all [[Human Alliance]] figures, Sideswipe is designed to allow his accompanying human figure, in this case [[Robert Epps]], to ride inside.

:While in many ways simply a larger version of the Deluxe toy, it has several changes. The wheeled feet may now fold out into a stand system, allowing Sideswipe to stand without having to balance on the wheels, or be left as is to retain a more rounded look, and his blades are now rubberized to prevent injury and damage, as the blades lay flat underneath in vehicle mode. The sword-hands can also be slotted into a gear system connected to the front wheels, which causes them to spin as the wheels are turned. The passenger's seat may either be used as a seat for Epps, or turned into a missile launcher slung over Sideswipe's left shoulder.

:Like the Deluxe figure, the HA Sideswipe is something of a [[shellformer]] and suffers from an excessive amount of [[kibble]], as nearly the entire top of the vehicle mode is folded up into a backpack, with only the rear bumper being incorporated as Sideswipe's chest. Partly as the reason, it is also quite hard for him to be able to stand up, as his thigh joints are tight and the rubber tubing on his thighs can get quite tense during posing, constantly wanting to reset his torso to tilt back up and as well as wanting his legs to be straight, thus overbalancing him and making him fall on his backpack.

:A great deal goes unmentioned in the instructions: in addition to the seats behind Sideswipe's shoulders, there are pegs on both forearms that a Human Alliance human figure can stand on or have plugged into their back, but neither are accomplished very well; the pegs also interfere with free rolling in vehicle mode, scraping on the ground. There is a fold-out handle under the swiveling rear window section, which seems to serve no purpose; it's possible to fold this section over Sideswipe's head (and, by extension, any human figure sitting behind his right shoulder), but the handle is only reached if the human figure has its left arm raised straight up and the seat is in just the right position. There are also small tabs that fold out of Sideswipe's waist to make him more movie-accurate. The small turret on his right shoulder can be slid upwards slightly, allowing it to clear the shoulder much better. Sideswipe also has an extra hinge near either thigh swivel that is completely hindered by the rubber tubing on his legs. Finally, Sideswipe has a battle mask; or rather, his normal head '''is''' his battle mask. A thin sliver in the middle of his face flips back to reveal his "real" face. It looks... odd. It's probably best to leave the thing down and never speak of this feature.

Sideswipe now has toe and heel spurs so that he can balance on a flat surface without falling over, a problem that the previous versions of the character suffered. Both the black and silver molded "springs" on his lower legs are compatible with any weaponry using [[C joint|3mm clips]]. The Japanese [[TakaraTomy]] release of Sidearm Sideswipe drops red flame details in favor of keeping the silver paint on his wheels, which Hasbro dropped due to budgetary reasons. This release also changed the windows from red to a dark purple, for a more screen accurate appearance.

:His head's [[light-piping]] is sculpted out of the same red plastic as his windows, but his eyes are painted blue. Oddly, Hasbro's stock photos show him with only one eye painted.

:In an undocumented feature, his ankles can be rotated around in robot mode in order for them to look much more accurate to his CG model. Neither the instructions nor any official photography (nor either of the pictures on the right) reflects this step in his transformation.

:Sidearm Sideswipe seems to have undergone a last-second mold alteration; closing off the tops of the hip balljoint sockets, severely limiting his outward leg motion. There is a perfect outline where the change was made to the molding. This change was likely made to reduce stress on the rubber tubing connected to his thighs.

The box art and the instructions can't seem to agree which way the tail lights (which are his toe/heel spurs) are supposed to point in robot mode - the stock photo used on the card and main instruction image show them pointing forward, while the instructions themselves indicate they should point backward, implying it is probably the correct way.

:Underneath the front hood (which ends up on his back) is some sculpted, unpainted faux-[[kibble]] in the form of four circles in a row, which are meant to represent the four exhaust pipes on the back of the vehicle, which usually end up on his back in robot mode. The ''actual'' pipes still end up on his back. They're just near his waist.

:Sideswipe's MechTech weapon, a large blaster, can convert to a runed Cybertanium sword with the press of a button. The weapon can be stored in any of the three MechTech ports in either mode, all of which include the spring-loaded filler piece to hide them when not in use. While the box art shows the blade of the flip-out sword painted blue with white [[Cybertronix]] runes, the final version opts for bare gunmetal plastic instead.

The '''Headmaster unit''' is the [[Headmaster (Animated)|Headmaster's]] ultimate invention. In its robot head mode, it can fly, decapitate a robot with a cutting laser, and replace the robot's head atop its body, allowing its pilot to control the body. It possesses a veritable arsenal of on-board weaponry, with grenades and missiles in addition to the cutting laser. The control unit can also transform from head to bipedal robot.

Perhaps befitting the personality of its inventor, it also features a built-in smirk.

The "Headmaster project" was the brainchild of Sumdaac Systems employee Henry Masterson. The initial demonstration for [[Isaac Sumdac (Animated)|Isaac Sumdac]] went awry, however, when the Headmaster unit proved to be too heavy for his robotic test subject, making it collapse and sending its weaponry towards [[Detroit]]. Sumdac, incensed by Masterson's plans to put his invention to military use, fired him in a fit of Donald Trump-esque rage.

Masterson apparently absconded with his Headmaster prototype and went off to sulk and play with his Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em Robots. He decided that having his own company would be "wicked sweet", as would exacting his revenge on Sumdac. Needing a robot sturdy enough to support his control unit, he chanced upon a news report on [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]]. The emo jerk ambushed and decapitated Bulkhead and subsequently went on a rampage in the Autobot's body.

He demolished several Sumdac [[Police drone|police drones]] en route to a solar power plant. Dubbing himself "the Headmaster", he hijacked local television broadcasts to deliver his ultimatum: Unless he was paid $700 billion, personally delivered by Isaac Sumdac, he would set the [[Sidney Biggles-Jones Memorial Solar Fusion Plant|solar fusion reactor]] to overload, which would result in the obliteration of the entire state of [[Michigan]] (including Masterson himself). Sumdac arrived in a [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|tractor trailer]], accompanied by [[Sari Sumdac (Animated)|his daughter]], [[Carmine Fanzone|Captain Fanzone]], and a [[Bumblebee (Animated)|small]] [[Prowl (Animated)|convoy]] of [[Ratchet (Animated)|vehicles]]. Sumdac offered Henry the money, but the Headmaster grabbed him and announced his intention to take the ransom money and destroy the city of Detroit anyway, then use the threat of future robot attacks to sell his Headmaster units to the military.

When he checked the trailer for the money, he found only the enraged head of Bulkhead. The convoy of vehicles revealed themselves as the [[Autobot|Autobots]] and engaged the Headmaster in combat. After taking a pounding from them, the Headmaster unleashed the weaponry of his control unit. He managed to corner Optimus Prime and began to slice the Autobot leader's head off. Prevented from doing so thanks to an ambush by Bulkhead's severed head, the Headmaster was soon felled by Prowl. Masterson decided to flee, but his flying Headmaster unit was knocked out of the sky by the still-disembodied Bulkhead. Once [[Porter C. Powell]] took control of Sumdac Systems, he was quick to rehire Masterson in the interest of reaping that lucrative arms market for which Isaac lacked the taste. Powell gave Masterson Sari's bedroom as his office while in the process of kicking her out of it. Masterson was quick to make himself comfortable and started planning renovations to hook the place up for some major gameage. Powell wasn't about to let his employee just slack around, though, and put him to work on a new Headmaster Unit project, even giving him [[Tutor Bot]] and [[Sparkplug (robot dog)|Sparkplug]] to outfit with smaller Units and laser-shooting upgrades.

The Headmaster wanted more than just little bots to tinker with, however, and stole [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel Prime]]'s body, upgrading it as well. He would have gotten away with it, but Optimus managed to track him down, defeat Sentinel's possessed body, and take the Headmaster to justice. When the [[Decepticon|Decepticons]] completed the [[space bridge]] that would transport them to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], Decepticon leader [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]] had [[Lugnut (Animated)|Lugnut]] and [[Blitzwing (Animated)|Blitzwing]] retrieve a Headmaster unit from Sumdac Tower to coerce Bulkhead into helping them repair the bridge. {{storylink|A Bridge Too Close, Part I}} During a battle between the Decepticons and [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]] and his [[Starscream clone (Animated)|clones]], Isaac Sumdac of all people used the Headmaster to body-jack Starscream, only to be decapitated by an unimpressed Megatron. {{storylink|A Bridge Too Close, Part II}}

Furious that his Headmaster unit had been absconded with, Masterson was unintimated when Sari returned to [[Sumdac Tower]] with Isaac in tow, informing the Sumdacs that the Autobots would return his Headmaster unit to him and or "heads would roll". At which point Optimus Prime picked him up from behind and asked for clarification on whose heads would be rolling. Furious at their actions while running the company, Isaac Sumdac immediately fired both Porter C. Powell and Henry Masterson.

Enraged that he had been fired again, Masterson tracked his Headmaster unit to the mine, where he discovered [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]]'s body, ready to be taken over. After a brief fight with Bulkhead the next day, Masterson returned to Detroit, then listened in on Isaac Sumdac's phone calls. Learning that Sumdac was heading to meet Sari at [[Burger Bot]], Masterson ambushed the "happy family", only to be interrupted by Optimus Prime again. A struggle followed, destroying the Burger Bot in the process. Finally, Prime taunted Masterson into transforming, saying that a "n00b" like him might have trouble with it. Screaming that nobody called him a "n00b", Masterson initiated a transformation, only for his Headmaster unit to be crushed and shot off Starscream's body when it began. As Starscream's body flew into the river, Masterson was captured by Optimus Prime and turned over to the police. Let's see how far his slang gets him in prison. {{storylink|TransWarped}}

Following the battle, Masterson's battered Headmaster unit was brought to Isaac Sumdac's laboratory, where the professor expressed distress over how it seemed to be watching him wherever he stood. When Sumdac and Bulkhead started constructing a space bridge in the room, an accident tore a hole in the floor, sending the Headmaster unit plunging through several floors of Sumdac Tower alongside a forklift and a few [[AllSpark]] fragments. The Headmaster can attach to all other ''Animated'' Leader-Class figures, but does not unlock any new sounds or lights when connected to them (Megatron's instructions do not even refer to the figure's ability to wear the Headmaster unit). It can also fit in quite nicely on the Sentinel Prime figure and balance on the Starscream figure (The Sentinel and Starscream figures also have removable heads, unlike the Leader-Class toys.)
